  • I fail to see how your screenshots prove your point?

Match 1: BP is very balanced. 2 people escaped. 2 people died. Which is the definition of balance according to BHVR.

Match 2: All appropriately red ranks. 3 escaped. 1 died. Blood points remained fairly balanced. Seems fine.

Match 3: Killer quit. Looks like a newer nurse. Probably a daily and was tired of getting juked. It happens.

Survivor is not easy. Please stop speaking for everyone because you have had good matches with good teammates and are obviously an experienced player.

  • Everyone is louder.

I assume its intentional but 🤷

  • There needs to be a "Vote Down" option on forum comments, so the dumbest ones can just get auto removed. 😂

Why is it most of my games i have to be tunnelled out to oblivion

Do i have any toxic meta perks? NO

    was i gen rushing? NO

Was over 2 gens completed whilst i was being hardcore tunnelled and camped? NO

did i have a flashlight? NO

Did i have any item at all? NO

Did i loop the killer? Absolutely not since 80% of them map was basically a dead zone right now *looks at the tumbleweed going past the massive deadzone in swamp*

So why am i constantly being tunnelled out? Oh you may say "oh use antitunnelling perks to stop them then" but the second i use them im instantly classed as 'toxic' but if i dont use them killers shred me to pieces because they dont give a <badword> about how much fun i want to play without toxic meta perks. Stupid killers give survivors literally no choice but to use them if they want to live past the 5 minute mark.

Also with the new update it has definitely made camping and tunnelling more efficient and gens cant get done as fast meaning killers that dont care about pips can just face camp and tunnel without the issue of having all gens pop that fast

I seriously dont know how i even cope on this game playing survivor, ive heard killers all day on the forums complaining on its still soo hard to win games and gen rushing is still a problem, well every survivor game ive had today has ended in a 4k for the killer and when i was playing killer also ive been getting 4ks like childsplay if you cant physically see this game is 1000% in yours favour sorry to say this but you should just play a different game.

Also i want tunnelling and camping to stop being a thing like survivors have now lost instaheals, toolboxes, even the add on nerf and looping and gen speed whist killers can still happily get instadowns and facecamping and hard tunnelling like if survivors can loose all the scummy tactics you killers thought were toxic so can you and lets all face it 80% of all killers saying something is wrong with DS well i think it works perfectly as if you nerf that perk what about those facecampers ah yes their life would be soooooo much easier not having to deal with a perk designed to stop killers from tunnelling your <badword> to the ground when youve done nothing wrong to the killer

Sorry for the long aggressive post i just have alot of built up anger on this game atm to do with the new update and especially all this nooby tunnellers/campers, hopefully you dont take much of it seriously but some points in this are true..

You are 100% right. Camping and tunneling is a ridiculous tactic, rewarded by BHVR. So killers will never stop, unless something is changed.

I agree with you. I find it interesting that camping/tunneling ruins the QoL for survivors. Ruins their games. Ruins the games of those around them. Sucks the fun out of the match. Renders them no points and likely a depip, and always has. Killers like to point out that BHVR says this is an allowed strat, so it's ok to use it. Yet looping, which was designed into the game and created by the developers...which has been around just as long and was also said to ruin games and suck the fun out of the match for Killers was just significantly nerfed. The difference? Camping/tunneling ruins the game for 4 people. People who can infinite loop ruins the game for one. Both were implemented into the game. Only one has been corrected.

    It's pretty bullshit.

And this play style is the vast majority of matches now.

Because as much as people would like to say that it doesn't reward the killer - or that it's the survivors fault (hell victim blaming?) - it does reward them, and there's really nothing you can do about it but allow it to happen and try not to let it bother you when your time and money are wasted. 🤷

    I feel your pain.

It sounds cool, but it was bad enough when they made it omnidirectional, now it just echoes everywhere. Its super hard to tell where she is coming from. I am not a fan as a person trying to survive. LOL

  • Every time I try her, I give up. LOL if you manage to get good at Nurse, mad respect. <3

  • @AvisDeene said:

So basically, what you're saying is what Survivors have told killers to do when they complained about the nerf to Ruin, which is, Git Gud or Apply Pressure?

As far as complaints, there are far more threads posted by Survivors complaining about NoEd (One of the easiest things to counter in the game), tunneling and camping, than there are about Killers complaining.

Not really. Killers are notoriously more vocal IME.

  • @BigTimeGamer said:

the deadzones are really bad tbh

    It seems really situational.

I was on Wrecker's Yard yesterday and was surprised that two of the dead space areas around the shack had zero palettes. I had the same on Gas Haven...the dead space in front of the station only had 1 palette on the far end and none by the cars closer to the station.

Yet, I was watching a stream today and that team had one in center dead space and by the car, as well as one in the station and the one in the back by the garbage can. Seems weird.

The unsafe palettes on short walls is really annoying. A 115% killer will either get a hit because you don't throw it or will get a hit over the palette because the wall is so short and Killers have hit priority.

All in all though, today was not too bad so far. But TBH, it's because almost every killer I had today didn't camp or tunnel. The one time I was camped, I was the last person to get hooked after the gens were done. I was first hook, so it sucked. But at least the entire match before that was no camp/tunnel...so, hard to complain.

  • @CornMoss said:

If you aren't being slugged you are being put on the hook, if you are on the hook that means you are gonna die, if you are gonna die then the game ends earlier. When a killer slugs me I actually hope they slug me as I get to live (Unless they come back and hook me which kinda sucks but it happens).

Its also good for killer as you get to buy time for yourself and go for other survivors who are repairing gens

Depends. When a killer slugs me instead of tunnel hooking me, sure. I can appreciate that they are at least giving me a shot to get up while they go after someone else. When they slug me and leave me sitting on the ground as bait so they can flush out my teammate because all they care about is a 4k, I'd like to hard pass.

  • @supersonic853 said:

So let me get this straight to counter a facecamping leatherface you have to genrush (which even then a killer can maybe get a 2k already before you get the 5th gen done). And to counter noed you have to do bones. You dont have time to do both against a camper and thats what makes this combo so strong. Now that maps are getting fixed can we finally either do something about bubbas camp potential or noed?

This is always my only issue with NOED. This exact situation.

I'm not looking for ways to interpret it negatively, these ways are obvious which is why I'm concerned that OP is ignoring them. Besides, I can tell you exactly how survivors are going to rally. They're going to play the game. They're going to post feedback. Pretty simple, right?

...its about TACTICS USED IN GAME to combat some of the changes. SMH - you would think it's simple, but you don't seem to get it.

The fact that you said in a follow up post that killers can respond (because you can't really stop them), doesn't change the fact that you specifically only asked for the opinions of survivor mains. More importantly, my point was not about killers, but people that play both. You seem to think that there are only killers and survivors, when many people play both sides and have a better grasp on balance and strategies than any main could. Why not just say "survivors" without tacking the title "main" onto it. You may think that it is trivial, but this whole "main" thing is very divisive.

This is trivial and arguing for the sake of arguing. Do you have anything else to contribute on the actual topic?

I'm just explaining how people on the forums can get the wrong idea with this thread.

There was nothing wrong with this thread in any way. People (you) who are purposely looking for alternative ways to negatively interpret it are just muddying the purpose of the original topic. Which was not to talk about how this thread can be perceived as anti-killer, but to talk about how survivors are going to rally after the recent changes. Please just stay on topic. 🙄

Didn't you say the reason? That the words are used as insults? You didn't mention in the title or post anything about welcoming killers so they have no reason to feel welcome, especially with how much hostility there is on the forums.

...because the focus of this post is survivors. They never expressly said they weren't welcome either, but the focus of the post is on how people who main survivor are going to cope with the recent patch. Why are you taking something total non-offensive and making it so?

  • This was such a waste of your time. You were wrong by paragraph one. Hopefully it made you feel better tho. 👍

  • @Kolonite said:

You do know survivors have been nerfed more because they’re more broken, right? All they need to make killers not steam roll is change moris and NOED. In a solo queue environment the game is 100% killer sided. A barely competent swf with meta perks would likely only lose one team member. Most survivors that play are swfs. That’s why they can’t let killers opt out of swfs. It would kill the game because there aren’t enough solo players.

No. Most teams are not SWF.

  • I put a L4P post out today titled, "so tired of potatoes". I couldn't agree more. 😂

  • @[Deleted User] said:

How can you say that camping and tunneling isn't okay but leaving in the middle of a match and screwing over 4 players because it's not going your way is okay?

If being tunneled or camped frustrates you to the point where you just disconnect, perhaps you would be better off finding another game to play.

Except this kind of unfair, match ruining game play is at least a big part of why DCing was so common in the first place. It frustrates A LOT of ppl that much. And it should. When you spend your hard earned money and finite time on something meant to be fun, you shouldn't have to put up with a self centered ######### wasting it.

I agree with the OP. The Devs responded to the symptom, not the root issue. And maybe both need to be addressed, but ignoring the cause altogether is a mistake.

Now, before anyone bites my head off, this is off the back of a few unpleasant experiences and I know that not every game is like this, but the fact that it's brewing this type of a feeling is important to discuss.

I know that I have said before that "last game shouldn't mean anything" but that statement is getting harder to justify as of late. Same with this attitude. And there is no "taking a break from the game" that can fix this issue, because simply put, it's becoming more frequent.

So, amidst all of the recent questionable matchmaking, I've been paired with some rather low ranks. Not an unwelcome change from being constantly put into a red killer with green companions at purple ranks, but what happened in these last few games is:

I have been completely abandoned on a hook against a killer with Thanataphobia for some minor, insignificant generator repairs and two bits of healing to cancel two stacks of Thana. Dying on first and de-pipping, only to find that the ones I saved off earlier hooks are ranks 17 and 18.

I later have a game where there are 3 David Kings, two with flashlights and one with a toolbox. They get slaughtered and I manage to get most of their unhooks, only for the last one to get slugged. I manage to stealth as I have all game and manage to pick him up from dying TWICE before the coward leads the killer to me and then proceeds to do absolutely nothing, while I do a generator, dodge and run the killer for the next two minutes before getting honourably downed and hooked. Messaging me (Xbox player, for context here.) as I'm about to die on second hook, and gets a lucky escape.

They then proceed to call me a "sook" and later a child because I called them out on their blatant teaming/cheating and said that they shouldn't have messaged me as I assumed initially they had a farming thing going. They even tried to provoke me into using explicit language, which is part of my normal speech, I refrain from using online in text because of mods and bans. I'd love nothing more than to warn my fellow Xbox brethren about this toxic scum with a good ol' Name & Shame, but I won't.

So, here's my questions, as a solo survivor: Why SHOULD I start helping you lot when this is the treatment I can expect? Why should I put my life on the line when it won't get reciprocated or appreciated? Why should I start believing that this game is truly a 4v1, rather than a 1v3v1 as other survivors are proving more and more? How is your life and your health more important than a stealth/chaser emblem rating, or another generator completed? How does helping you help me any more?

    Why should I care?

Please, convince me. I've ditched my emotions and empathy enough throughout my life. I'm not seeking validation, or consolidation. I just want a reason.

Because 1 person cannot win a full DBD match by themselves. Part of your self preservation is keeping those potatoes alive as long as possible - even if it's only to be cannon fodder as you do the objectives necessary to escape.

Yes, but it's a nonstandard contraction and not grammatically smiled upon when used in writing. You aren't really modeling the behavior you're preaching. You also obviously understood what the OP was saying. There was no need to call out his grammar. They can clearly speak/write fluently in multiple languages. That's more than most people.

  • I doubt this is a bug. Welcome to DBD.

Where are these statistics because the community has largely been bashing the devs for favoring survivors too much. Idk where we are getting this "they keep nerfing survivors" because they haven't... Killer has received the most nerfs in just about all the big recent changes. I guess in that regard your point about "balancing" would be true! Except survivors are stronger than killer and it's been that way for a while. The recent loop changes were a fix not an outright buff to killers although you can look at it that way if you want. God loops/infinites are still in the game btw people have shown them off, quite the "survivor nerf" I'd say :D

    Latest stats: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/106566/stats-november-2019

And they do keep nerfing survivors. For the last year+ most patches have been dominated with changes that make survivor more difficult or nerf survivors. These changes are in response to SWF and affect the the solo survivor community more than SWF teams, but solo survivors make up the largest segment of the player base. I think the assessment that Killers are the squeakier wheel is somewhat accurate. I've seen it here, and also that was largely the experience from the biggest DBD PC FB group that exists. Killers do seem to be most vocal and perhaps it is because they have less avenues for discussing their frustration. They took out every major loop an average player can use to prolong a chase. Saying that content creators, who have mastered looping/tile pathing, showing off ways they can till give a good chase against average killers does not negate the fact that the vast majority of people who play this game as survivor are also average and play for a few hours a week. Not 12 hours a day as their profession. This was another in a long line of survivor disadvantages. You can call it a QoL balance for killers, which is fine. But that doesn't change what it does on the survivor side - especially the solo survivor side.

Question if camping is so bad why do people dive bomb the hook like it's going out of style?

Why go after the fish if the fish end up coming to me?

Because off-hooking and healing others are both main objectives for survivors and make up a significant amount of BP gains. Also, some people aren't ######### who lack all empathy for others, so they don't want one person's game to be completely ruined.

Its why a killer can face camp like a lazy ######### and survivors can do everything else: gens, totems, chests, etc. and still only get a measily 8-10k and maybe even depip in these matches. Even when you live, the points people get robbed of by the killer being a cheap, lazy ######### is ridiculous.

And to answer your second question: maybe because you dont want to be a lazy #########. :)

" much if it is a reply to SWF" ok but this makes up a big portion of dbd.

"Why change so many maps at once? (from @Sziosis)

After the release of the Stranger Things chapter, they identified an opportunity to do something about the ‘infinite loops’ in the game"

Devs acknowledged loops that abuse the killer more then 1 per map. This patch did nothing to buff survivors and did 3 things to help killers. This isn't just a minor patch for killers.

So again... 70% killers doing great... but 3 sideswipe nerfs to survivors? If those stats were facts then this patch wouldn't exist. Oh and a buff to legion.

Devs see that survivors were at an advantage. When you hook someone and see 3 people playing "drag my nuts" around the killer like they are itchy dogs. You know something up.

SWF is actually the vast minority of DBD if you consider Killers, SWF, and Solo teams their own entities. They simply create an unbalance (for survivors and killers) and a big QoL issue for killers. BHVR has been making adjustments to address this for the better part of 2 years.

"So again... 70% killers doing great... but 3 sideswipe nerfs to survivors? If those stats were facts then this patch wouldn't exist. Oh and a buff to legion."

Not really, as Devs have openly stated that stats only play a partial role in their decision to make changes in the game and that community feedback also plays a big role. It's not unfathomable that community feedback can out weigh raw data.

SWF is at an advantage. Solo survivors are not. Again, you will probably see adjustments addressing that in a future patch. One change at a time. Balance isn't easy.

  • @Joao_Bandicoot said:

Also just to clarify something the map changes aren't removing the amount of loops (if it happened on PTB I'm pretty sure it was confirmed to be a bug) they're rebuilding the loops so that a mindgame can be mostly fair for both sides.

Really? because I watched a video on every single map change from the perspective of a killer main and it really looked like they took pretty much every safe window and added an open door right next to it...in addition to increasing dead space and removing palettes while making more of them unsafe. I humbly disagree that this just leaves more "opportunity for mind gaming" and instead will be a cluster ######### of 10 foot lunges and killer hit priority. You can call it a "rebuilding" if you will, but it doesn't change what the outcome is. 🤨

  • @Feiten said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1237979#Comment_1237979

Awww but if they were facts then why the loop fix adjustments? Why gimp perfect skill checks? Make gens slower? Make maps smaller. If this game was indeed killer sided? Did you not include Morris? Swf suicides?

Or are you a brainless parrot.

I will obviously stick with the latter. The fun part is I'm a survivor main. 🤡 🤡

Actually, he is probably just citing info from the November stats report from BHVR, where statistically speaking, Killers are doing better than survivors already.

And to answer your question, because those things are not mutual exclusive (kill rate vs QoL/Balance). Much of the coming patch is in response to SWF. Which is why I would not be surprised to see a future patch more tailored to the solo survivor experience, because it will probably be pretty rekt after Tuesday. LOL

  • @Feiten said:

Honestly Idc what people say.. survivors get some bullshit second chance perks that get them out the gate when their bad play should have been punished.

I have played him a few times and he literally just has to just spam his snares to get a free down, once a survivor is down teleport to a gen and use pop, rinse and repeat. When playing against him you feel like you can’t really do anything (at least you can dodge deathslingers shots) not mention he counters borrowed time which is nice but you can easily Camp and tunnel with him. The other killers you have to learn their power very well to get better with them. As for Freddy it feels like they over did his power. Not to mention his add ons with thana and dying light can be fun to do but complete aids to go against. It kinda makes me miss old Freddy. What do you guys think of Freddy?

This is why he has (or had) the highest kill rate. Try getting a map where all three of the last gens are only 2-sided. Trap on every side. Nothing gets done. It's mind numbing. And the BT counter is terrible and definitely promotes camp/tunnel. I don't find him the worst killer to go against, by far, but I dont exactly look forward to him either. LOL

Can everyone please understand that waving hands that it is safe makes no sense as what would you do with the Bubba, sit there not waving hands? #rantover

I have never heard of a survivor arm flick. That seems complicated. Is it a 'flick' or a 'wave'...as I'm starring at an aura 40m away?

    I've always heard it as:

    Waves = you're being camped

Id be fine with Key only working for the person who has the key. Mori i'd be fine with ivory and cypress. Im not sure how you could really balance the Ebony.

Wait...so...assuming there's 2 people left and 3 gens done...and you escape through the hatch with a key...now there's only 1 survivor on the map...does the hatch re-open? LOL

  • @Clevite said:

Mories counter keys, and vice versa. Leave em alone or rework both.

I'd be okay with cypress being basekit, ivory being ultra rare, and ebony being gone, or used inly after second hook.

Purple key lets one person use the hatch, pink, maybe 2 people.

Cypress being basekit would suck, bad. End game is already like an 80/20 death sentence for the last survivor. Being mori'd for simply being last alive would just add insult to injury. Especially if it was your first time being caught. I'm feeling salty just thinking about it. 😂

  • I often play "no kill' Killer. I will 2nd hook everyone, but once that's done, I just work on other objectives...gen destruction, palette breaking, chases, hitting or downing but not hooking. Sometimes in those matches a survivor will clearly want me to kill them, as they know they're gonna pip. These matches usually give everyone good points. It used to bug me, and I'd carry them to the door. Anymore, I just hook em. If they want to die, that's cool with me.

I do see how a pity kill could be seen as condescending, I guess. I don't like it when a Killer goes balls deep on a team and then gives the last person the hatch or lets them open the door and leave. It doesn't feel like a win. I, personally, would rather take that burst of good sportsmanship and apply it in a much thinner layer across the course of the entire match.

I'm sorry, I got lost in this post. In part one, who is "them"?(I'm assuming this meant us voicing our opinions to the devs?)

"That does not negate the fact that there are also complaints rooted in the same level of experience you yourself have with the game"

I'm confused, could you reword it? I'm not particularly sure what "my level of experience" means. I certainly do have complaints, but they are not aggressively aimed at balancing or intended mechanics. Most of them(and there are quite a few) are centered around things like quality of life. Not that balancing OR optimization don't count towards quality of life, but they are both closer to massively agreeable facts throughout the entire community and less based on personal opinion or preference.

I was playing solo survivor when I met this team of really good coordinated survivors, and managed to somehow loop the killer for all 5 gens (teammates were always on gens) and got downed and facecamped by a buba when last gen was done. I'm not complaining about him having NOED or a chainsaw that doesn't overheats, but because I de piped in the match. Why do I depip if I managed to entertain enough the killer? It's not my fault that I try to escape from him. Even if I didn't do any gens, I had the killer behind me all the match.

(It was a pretty quick match and only myself got hooked)

The same reason a Killer will depip if they merk all 4 survivors without doing anything else. At least some combination of efforts is typically needed to pip.

  • I agree and disagree.

Yes, people who complain here often describe scenarios which clearly illustrate their lack of skill in a situation. I think the community does a good (albeit sometimes brutally honest) job of telling them how they could improve.

That does not negate the fact that there are also complaints rooted in the same level of experience you yourself have with the game - complaints centered around the very issues you mentioned. Which is where I humbly disagree with some of your statements about those issues. It is not always a lack of personal skill.

At the end of the day, DBD encourages people to come here to the forums and share their experiences, thoughts, vent, etc. with the greater community. So people need to continue to do so. I'm sure the community is keen on continuing to tell them whether their complaint seems legit or an area they may need some personal improvement.
