On paper it was an overpowered perk that was obviously better than almost any other perk besides maybe BBQ. In practice it was a band-aid for genrush and when behavior removed that band-aid the genspeed blood gushed out and now killer playercount is bleeding to death.

    Stop stealing my analogies :)

New Ruin ia healthier for the game. You just have to learn to not lean into a specific perk.

It's not about "leaning into a specific perk" it's about the fact that perk was holding back a tsunami of other problems, mainly the egregious issues with map design.

If the ruin change had come with reworks of the worst maps I would agree with you.

In this case, the cart is ahead of the horse so to speak.

Ruin was critical for trap-based and setup killers (think Myers) to get some setup before generators started popping. Corrupt Intervention is a mediocre replacement at best. Killers who ran Ruin never expected it to last longer than 1-2 minutes, but that was long enough to get a couple chases done and hooks accomplished so they could begin to snowball assuming they were playing well.

In the game's current state, I think it's debatable whether the change was actually healthy for the game. Instead of killers relying on a perk, instead we just have fewer viable killers who can actually "pressure gens bro" enough to be effective.

You don't think it's coincidence that the four killers considered "meta" happen to all be killers that have cross-map pressure? Either through teleportation (Freddy), Chainsaw Sprint (Billy), Phase Walk (Spirit), or Blinks? (Nurse). You notice none of those trap based or setup based killers in that list? That's because by the time they even get going 40% of the objectives are completed at least.

I find it hilarious that survivors complain about seeing the same killers over and over in high ranks without coming to the (seemingly to me) obvious conclusion that the reason you see the same four is because right now, those are the only four survivors who can counter the gen rush on every map if played correctly.

People get a strange idea, perhaps from other platforms like Twitter, that if they mass-report someone, the devs won't look at the content of the reports but only at the sheer number of them.

I frequently see SWFs in post game chat all say they're reporting a killer, or a killer claim he's reporting for things like "hacking" when really he just doesn't understand how Lithe works yet.

Ignore it, feel comforted and grateful that the devs review the contents of reports, not just the number of bad reports.

Then shudder a little when you think about how many bad useless reports they get each day from salty people.

In one of my more embarrassing moments I thought three survivors were hacking because they had OOO but it was showing them my aura at all times, even when I was very close to them. Turns out I wasn't aware that when you play Freddy, survivors in the dream world can see you at all times cause you don't have a terror radius, so by definition they are always outside of it. Pretty much made mind games impossible.

1 thing I wonder, if Devs get an in-game report like this. Will they actually check the game play of that match? Like if not, how can Devs know the report is legit or not?

Most likely they will start to investigate if they either get documented evidence of a player actually cheating (like a support ticket with video) or they get enough reports over different games to notice a pattern.

A lot of people get reported once or twice by salty people and don't even know it, because they're not going to ban or discipline someone off one or even multiple reports from only one game.

I think the two community outfits (Mr. Puddles Clown and Demon Slayer Feng) are getting added to the store sooner than the rest. The other Rift skins are supposed to be added six months after their respective Rift closes. IIRC only event cosmetics and charms are staying exclusive. So only things like the Hallowed Blight Nurse, Putrid Serum charm, and Moonrise Lantern charm should be staying exclusive. Everything else should thankfully be going to the store.

That makes sense, you want most of it available in the store later if people really want it, but also give a couple things as exclusives for those who played during that time.

    1. Being near the hook takes away from malicious points, which is Leg's best category by far so they barely even notice the penalty.
    2. If you use Frenzy on the rescue, you get a free hit on the rescuer, activate BT if the unhook had it and get two quick hits which make up malicious points you might've lost.
    3. Now the unhook and the rescuer are both possible targets to chase (both injured and no BT) so you get the best of both worlds.

Um, doesn't being near the hook take away from the devout score? Not malicious? Malicious only loses points for survivors healing to my knowledge.

Not to mentioned I disagree with the overall point here which is Legion is good at camping cause of Frenzy. Actually activating Frenzy was the dumbest thing you could have done in this instance.

If you activate Frenzy and stab both you are still in Frenzy and either way you're going to have to end Frenzy to down anyone. So you gave the unhooked player deep wounds? They already had it from BT regardless, and either way deep wounds doesn't tick down during a chase.

If you see a player going for the hook and hit them normally by the time they then get to the hook and do the unhook you should recover enough to hit them a second time for a down to complete the trade, which ends with one survivor on the ground, one injured, and you with another hook opportunity. In your scenario you still need to chase and down someone after you end frenzy and look at the ground for a while.

This is just a failure on so many fronts.

  • Honestly if they just banned OOO from SWF play I would have no problem with it, as a solo survivor perk it's ok but not game breaking and I can choose to ignore that person if I want. In the hands of SWF with communication setup it's pretty much miserable to play against.

Thank you! I thought about adding a 32 meter range for pallets. Any thoughts on how stun should be scaled? Like per pallet. One of my early drafts for this power allowed you to activate it at any time, including while carrying someone, with an ultra rare addon

HA! I'm just picturing Jason Vorhees running mock speed with a survivor on his shoulder chasing a Nea who was trying to flashlight him.

The memes, my god the memes would be glorious.

I'm just picturing running him with Iron Grasp, Agitation, and Mad Grit, basically down the first person, pick them up, and chase the second person till they are down, hook person A, grab person B, look for person C, rinse and repeat until everyone is on a hook.

@Kwikwitted I was just clarifying what rank I was, not trying to have a d*ck measuring contest lol. I would say sloppy is still useful on killers that don't M1 because a good looping survivor will force you to M1 sometimes. I can agree with your argument on IF, but at the same time I just always find value from it on any killer which is why i put it so high. And yes BM is definitely not the best info perk by any means, but its a personal preference of mine to use it (especially on hit & run or juggling builds).

@InsidiousSmartfaceLF Devour Hope is good, but it often disappears before you can get any effect from it since it's visible from the start. NOED on the other hand becomes lit after all gens are done, & survivors tend not to cleanse every totem. DH is still a great perk though.

@Steve0333 BBQ is mainly S tier because of the 2x points. It is hard countered by lockers, but it still has the ability to provide some great info. Without the points though, it would be a high tier B or low tier A. (For me the points justify S tier) And I would say Remember Me > Blood Warden. BW is hard countered by 99%ing gates, which is common practice. Remember me can at least make the process of opening exit gates roughly 2x slower. Either BW needs a rework or they need to fix 99% gates (perhaps have them regress when left alone to 50%).

Oh for sure, I wasn't insinuating you were stating your rank to do that, I was just clarifying that in my original post I didn't post it to puff myself up, trust me I get beat plenty of games lol.

You make a good point on Sloppy, I could probably concede that one too.

I appreciate you seeing IF from my side as well, and I definitely would agree that depending on killers you play it may be an S tier perk. I think my problem with IF is I always take someone showing up as a sign that I should leave the first guy and then go to down the second guy since they're close, but it seems like every time I do a third guy shows up to pick up the first guy, and while that is beneficial to have three survivors occupied it just always feels like I lose value in some ways, especially if I end up losing the second guy.

I personally think Tinkerer beats Bitter Murmur in my opinion, I'd rather know when a generator is nearing completion so I can get over and stop it, hopefully down someone, and then regress it with pop. Tinkerer also gives you undetectable for a period of time making the approach even easier. Maybe I should have lead with that instead of just disagreeing about BM.

  • Oh crap, I've become forum famous (or infamous, depending on the perspective).

Even if DBD doesn't get Jason, these could easily be perks for a different original killer, albeit one with a similar build to everyone's favorite hockey masked murder.

As far as the power, I like it overall. I think people would complain about lack of counterplay but if your end result is only one M1 attack basically it's worth it just to take the hit and let him get stunned and hopefully lose him. It's kind of like Iridescent button legion where if you're stupid it's OP cause he'll leap and break pallets but if you realize he can't down you in frenzy you just wait for him to end his frenzy and stun. In a way it would make him way more dangerous to injured survivors who can't afford to take the hit and thus would waste pallets trying to get away from him. This power with sloppy butcher would be devastating.

Now Ingenuity on the other hand would probably never happen, even though I would ADORE it. Because the very first time I would hook my obsession my happy butt is marching right on over and destroying a god pallet, either the shack one or another one of that type with no counterplay. Maybe if you put a range on the perk's effectiveness? Like the only way to destroy the god pallet at the shack is to get a basement hook so it's in range? That way you can't just save this to eliminate particularly nasty ones, it's more you destroy something nearby while empowered or something.

No Place for Cowards seems situational enough people shouldn't complain and overall I think it's pretty balanced, I wouldn't see myself running it much but it's kind of like Iron Maiden where you could see yourself running it with huntress since you check lockers way more often.

Serial killer is tough because I think the problem would be it would really encourage camping and tunneling to get kills and that's kind of against what I'm sure BHVR is trying to encourage. However I DO really like the idea of increasing passive regression with each hooking, which rewards the killer for playing well by giving them natural generator slowdown and would also give more value to kicking generators even if you don't have pop or overcharge.

So maybe this for a remake.

Instead of "Serial Killer" we rename it "Head Trauma"

Your increased blows on survivors limits their ability to focus on the task at hand. Every time a survivor is hooked generators regress naturally 25%/50%/75% faster (numbers would need to be tweaked). Basically it would act as a mini ruin that builds up as time goes on but also can't be cleansed like a hex totem.

Just some thoughts, either way I dig the creativity and I like the ideas. Well done!

  • @BloodMoneyMerc said:

@DarkFox85 BW is pointless when survivors can just 99% exit gates.

@Elena BS is not fast enough in my opinion. Survivors generally can still make the next loop/pallet no problem.

@Kwikwitted I am rank 1 as well, though more recently just reaching it. Discordance helps prevent duo gen rush, which gives me a better chance to pressure gens being worked on solo. SB is never not good, as it slows healing or keeps people injured (buys killer time). IF is good for slugging, which is apart of the killer meta. It is also good in finding flashlighters, so thats a plus too. Corrupt is valuable, but after 2 minutes disappears & leaves you with 3 perks. BM is just good information, & tells you what gen is next based on where a survivor is headed.

@Marcus regarding Spies from the Shadows specifically, I believe this is the most underrated perk in the game. Survivors are too careless about crows anymore. Why I don't give it S tier is because it is map dependent. Some maps need more crows. This placement is definitely heavily opinionated, but I wouldn't ever place it lower than B. I suggest using the perk & you'll see it has more value than you thought.

I didn't say that for dick measuring FYI, I said it just to point out where my ranking perspective would come from.

Discordance - this is probably a personal preference, so I'll agree to disagree. I stated my reasoning already, but I can't deny that discordance at least works on every killer regardless of power, so if you think it's S tier you're entitled to that opinion and I could only counter with my own opinion.

Sloppy Butcher/Infectious Fright - The thing with sloppy butcher is you wouldn't run it on killers who don't rely on M1, so ironically the killers who would run Infectious Fright (Oni, Billy, Myers) are exactly the killer who won't run Sloppy Butcher, the reasoning is simple, you want survivors healing if you can one-shot them anyway. Infectious finding flashlights is also minimally helpful considering looking at a wall negates almost 95% of flashlight save attempts.

As I said, my standards for an S tier perk are must be a mandatory level perk on every killer, regardless of power.

Bitter Murmur - I didn't say BM wasn't good information, I said it's dated information cause it's letting you know after the objective is completed, making perks that let you know before it's completed (like discordance oddly enough) significantly more valuable, particularly if you are running pop goes the weasel.

  • The issue is not generator completion times, the issue is badly designed maps.

Places like Ormond, Disturbed Ward, and Rotten Fields are so ridiculously large that unless you are playing a killer with cross-map teleportation, a chainsaw sprint, a phase walk, or a blink, good luck. Ormond is probably the smallest out of that group but the pallet designs are so appallingly safe it's disgusting.

If maps were smaller, generator completion speeds wouldn't be as much of an issue, as killer could patrol generators in a way that was significantly more efficient, this would increase survivor/killer interaction, making games more about managing aggro than holding M1 the entire game.

This was the problem that old Hex: Ruin was more or less keeping at bay. Hex: Ruin was never a perk killers expected to see last until the end of the game, but what it did do was give killers 1-2 minutes of breathing room as survivors looked for totems, or gen tapped. This is what corrupt intervention does in an inferior way now.

Getting rid of Hex: Ruin without fixing maps was like taking a bandage off an open wound, and now it's gushing blood. Should have fixed the problem first (map sizes) and then gotten rid of the band-aid (Hex: Ruin).

  • Overall I think it's pretty solid, just a couple disagreements but minor at best.

This comes from a Rank 1 killer main, and strictly opinions as well, this is not meant to be disagreement for disparagement, just some things I've observed.

On your S tier, I would move down discordance, sloppy, and infectious to the A tier. By your definition S tier is best perks for all killers and I would argue Infectious is really only good on killers like Oni and Billy and Myers who can capitalize with quick one-shots on multiple survivors consecutively. Discordance seems to have lost some luster as survivors have realized that spreading out to do generators by themselves is the most efficient. It is nice for finding the first gen the survivors found as usually multiple work on that one but after that it never seems to light up again, except maybe at the end when they're brute forcing the last generator. Sloppy is good on all killers but I just don't know if it's one of those "must bring" perks.

I'm not touching NOED, I think that's the hardest one to rank, mainly cause of the survivor reaction to it. That said, it can be completely neutralized through cleansing of totems so I think S tier may be a little high.

Now for your A tier, again few disagreements. I would argue that you could argue to move Corrupt Intervention up, because unlike Infectious it is actually useful on all killers, just helps trap and setup killers more. I would personally move down bitter murmur as aura reading after losing an objective is situational and usually it seems to happen when you're already chasing someone. Stridor should also be moved down as it's really only going to be used on Spirit. Spies from the shadows is also very situational, and hex: retribution just doesn't have enough punch to justify an A rating. I would also move bamboozle down as it's really only good if you're not great at running window loops and I think it causes bad habits.

My only other point I'll make is moving Brutal Strength up. I think it's an A tier perk and definitely something I use in a lot of builds at higher ranks. Brutal not only removes pallets faster, but makes kicking generators significantly faster and works splendidly with pop goes the weasel.

But overall, as I've said, the list is roughly very accurate, well done.

  • He's probably the killer with the most diverse level of play styles.

Wall hacks and Jump scare Myers, Tombstone Myers (otherwise known as the entity's most hated build) and of course Burger King Myers.

Is he fun? Without question? Is he iconic? Without question. Is he EFFECTIVE? Ehhhh......

Myers in his standard form reminds me of playing a Paladin in World of Warcraft back in the Cataclysm days. It was 30 seconds of glory every time your cool downs were up, and 2.5 minutes of drooling on the floor waiting for them to come back.

You basically setup for a EW3 and you HAVE to get multiple downs with it in order to really be effective, otherwise you're going to really hurt yourself as survivors only have so much "juice" you can stalk out of them.

Overall he gets looped like most standard M1 killers and his height makes it very difficult to mindgame a lot of loops. His increased vaulting speed is nice in EW3 but never feels like enough to just start running after survivors through windows.

Overall there's a reason he gets put in the same grouping as killers like Trapper. In a master's hands he can be devastating, in a regular killer player's hands he's ok, not great.

I really don't think he is talking about dc'ing inside the game, but dc'ing before the game loads. He leaves, the match gets cancelled, everyone gets sent back to the lobby. No one really gets hurt. No one loses BP, no one loses PIPs, everyone goes back to the lobby and eventually back to the game. Only person that loses something is the guy who dodged the lobby--he loses an offering. Now if it is clear the killer has a Ebony Mori and it is down to just me and one other, I might dc then especially if I am probably going to depip anyway so the other survivor can perhaps get the hatch. And if the killer was going for some achievement where he needed to Mori everyone and I just stopped him from getting that...well so much the better. Not all that concerned about the concerns of killers.

Ah, so basically lobby dodging through disconnection after the lobby ended, yeah that's way different. No complaints on that then.

I don't know how it works for survivors if they go to the front of the line or not, but I could see them being a little salty about waiting in the queue again if that's not the case.

Just FYI, you realize you killing yourself to give someone the hatch is the reason killer's slug for the 4k now right? Just sayin.

"Not all that concerned about the concerns of killers."

Yes I'm sure anyone who has ever read your username or read your post history is well aware of this fact lol.

Yeah cuz a VPN is easily detected, I think that is the entire point of them, you use a VPN to get around certain things on the web and be annonymous so your traffic cant be tracked by your ISP but its like super easy to detect so the ISP can just give you a fine.

Thats why we pay for premium VPN's, yes yes, thats it.

Thank you for saying what I was just about to. The literal whole purpose of a VPN is securing against monitoring of your traffic but also to mask your region, that way if something like a youtube video is blocked in your country you can view it by tricking the site into thinking you're coming from somewhere else.

Though I would differ that it's not always so easy for even an ISP to tell if you're using a VPN cause usually the VPN works by sending your signal to the country you're pretending to be coming from first, then sending it back to whatever site you're trying to visit, so all the ISP sees is you accessing something in the country you're pretending to be coming from, and can't tell that you're then looping back to another place.

Most of this is second hand, I have a cousin who works in IT and network connections, and this is how he explained it to me so if it's wrong just remember in the words of Alex Jones "You see, I'm kinda #########".

  • @chenais said:

In dbd, I hate moris. They are boring, have no counter-play and require no skill to use. However, I kind of feel bad for dcing when I see the killer uses a secret offering since it might just be something else than a green / pink mori. Do I feel bad for doing this? What are the odds of a secret killer offering being an ebony / ivory? One last thing to consider: I changed my name to warn killers that any secret offering from them will result in a dc.

How about the fact that it's toxic to your teammates? You know, those other people in the game besides you and the killer?

    It's not all about you.

Completely ignoring that it's just dumb to DC when you could easily just die on first hook if you're REALLY that butthurt, why do you feel the need to just screw four people over (yes, I said four, killers gets screwed out of BP and probably any chance for a merciless as well) just because of something that you can't even confirm is going to happen?

  • Reading this topic I started reading backstories again, most survivors didn't deserve to get pulled in, most were good people.

But what shocked me was how many of the killers didn't really deserve their fate either.

Obviously Spirit and Plague are pretty much completely innocent.

Hag, Nurse, Wraith, and Hillbilly, while they did kill before coming to the entity's realm, are products of the abuse they suffered, either through their captors (Hag), their workplace (Nurse and Wraith), or their family (Hillbilly).

Trapper is also kind of a mixed case, thanks to the fleshed out backstory and diary entries from the rift, you get the sense he could have gone down a much brighter path if his father wasn't a Grade A prick and turned him into a monster. He was hiding dark tendencies for sure but originally he was siding with the workers and was just a kid who liked to draw.

Huntress is another one who is a mixed case. She clearly killed for sport but due to her mentality as a seven year old basically she's not really doing it maliciously. I think to her it's a game. She also strikes me as the one most satisfied with hunting forever in the entity's realm.

Bubba, for those who know TCM lore, know he's also a product of his family's abuse, and believes the people he is killing are trying to hurt his family.

Deathslinger also strikes me as someone who like Trapper held dark tendencies but also could have gone down a less dark path if not for cirumstances.

Really the only ones that I think nobody would argue belong in the realm are Myers, Doctor, Clown, Pig, Freddy, Legion, Ghostface, Demogorgon, and Oni.

Oh. I guess that makes more sense. I wasn't thinking about it as far as teammates. When I play CS Go it's with friends. When I play Fortnite or any battle royal it's with friends. I wouldn't really expect to drop into a game with random people and have a good time. So teaming up with people is toxic. That's weird. I tend to play solo's if I have to play alone. CS Go I've had great experiences with. I even back when I played seriously made a smurf. And my smurf got ranked super high. Way out of my skill level for sure. And my teammates cheered me on and encouraged me to keep trying. Even when I kept telling them I suck and I didn't belong in the rank. So I guess everyone has different experiences.

Fair enough, if you're playing with friends it will shield you from most of the toxicity in something like CS:GO or COD. Obviously with league unless you're playing ranked fives you're dealing with three randoms at minimum so it's always gonna be one guy who is the turd in the punchbowl.

It does warm my hear to see there are some positive people in CS:GO nowadays, in the years I played it once you were past silver it was cutthroat as all hell, people would say some downright ugly stuff to you if you weren't pulling your weight.

I don't understand your list at all. Besides for League of Legends... The other games you don't even have a way of communicating with your opponents. So how the hell are they toxic? I can say that I've ever had a toxic moment on CS Go, Fortnite, or COD.

Dude, those games have people being toxic to teammates, during a game, routinely.

I'm honestly doubting if you've played CS:GO in all seriousness if you're really going to claim you haven't had a toxic moment in that game. Let there be one guy who doesn't know the maps in even a silver ranked game and watch the abuse fly after each and every round.

I can only assume you just mute everyone every game or something?

At least in DBD it's written abuse after the game that no one really is compelled to listen to or read.

  • @1MillionPalletsToGo said:

A bunch of ppl playing the same game is not a community; calling a population a community is like calling strangers friends .

League of Legends, CS:Go, Fortnite, and Call of Duty just off the top of my head are WAY more toxic than DBD.

Until a game has a professional league, so every moron can pretend they are going to be the next big thing, you really don't get the level of toxicity that lets you play with the big boys.

  • Just reinforces how much of a terrible idea object of obsession was in the first place.

Completely ignoring the fact that SWF's abuse it regularly (seriously, how is it not banned in that game mode at least?) It's just too much information for a survivor to have, and us knowing where they are is not all that helpful when they of course proceed to sit in the middle of a god-loop or other insanely safe spot.

The fact that it's banned in almost any DBD tournament you will ever see says a lot. Even the second chance meta perks don't have that distinction.

OOO is like trying to play poker and someone's standing behind you and signaling your cards to your opponents.

  • I don't know if he will reach cartoonish levels of camping like Bubba does but his lack of map mobility due to 110% movement speed makes it so he's going to play more as a Trapper or Hag more often than not. Meaning he's going to pick an area of the map and patrol it quite vigorously to protect certain generators he can reasonably get to. This enables him to enforce some level of generator slowdown and control while also systematically removing pallets from that area as chases continue.

If you get caught near his area, chances are he's going to hook you in the middle of it and continue to patrol around it to those priority generators. Reasoning is simple, he can't cross-map pressure in any reasonable fashion. At least Huntress can chuck hatches from downtown and try to land some shots.

Easiest way to beat him is to use this against him, destroy his 3 gen plans before he enacts them and he won't be able to patrol a large area with any level of success.

True that. I played this killer last night at the game and made him look completely stupid at some of the chases. He was a rank 3 too and he was just total trash...just completely.

You realize that a killer could be trying out a new killer they aren't familiar with and played a bad game with them and they can still be red ranks in general right?

Just because I play in red ranks does not mean every game is going to be on one of my mains, in fact I usually deliberately play stuff I'm not familiar with or want to try out at Rank 1 intentionally as there is nothing left to gain from pipping at that point.

Until there's actual individual rankings for people's skill with an actual killer, there is no way to tell if the person is playing a killer they have 500 hours on or no hours on, so I would save the generalizations

    @thesuicidefox said:

    There are definitely boosted killers.

I disagree with people saying "Freddy/Spirit/Hag/Huntress/Nurse is boosted" because they do have a lot of counter play and can all be run by survivors that know what they are doing. Yes, they are all strong killers but they aren't infallible.

What I see as a boosted killer though, a lot of killers dodge lobbies to scum for bad survivors. They also frequently used super strong or overpowered builds. A Huntress that can hit hatchets consistently and win games is not boosted. But a Huntress that runs Iri Head every game is definitely boosted because that add-on is just super OP. Same with Forever Freddy. Or Spirit/Nurse that hard camps with RUin + NOED. THAT is pretty boosted because those builds on those killers are ridiculously strong. The only survivors that will give them any sort of trouble are 4 man SWF. But again if they dodge to scum lobbies they can be sure they get bad survivors enough to get to higher ranks.

Also too many killers are thirsty for kills. You can tell when you play solo and have a game where a survivor DC's with 5 gens yet the killer still tries super hard as if there are still 4 survivors. I'm talking hard camping and tunneling with 3 or less survivors. The moment I get a DC that early as killer I play super SUPER nice with survivors because I know I just won the game. I'll usually play like a bot and give the last person hatch, they still barely get 3 gens done usually. Last night I had a game as GF with Devour where 1 guy was AFK and the p3 Dwight DC'd after I hooked him (I had 5 stacks on Devour but I wanted my last BBQ stack). I went over, mori'd the AFK guy (who I hooked once and just ignored the rest of the game), then farmed with the other Dwight and let the 2 of them go. Dude thanked me and was all like "not many killers would have done that" which is 1000% true. They would slaver at the thought of free kills and pips. It's disgusting sometimes.

You can blame the emblem system for this, when a survivor DC's the killer gets credit for one hook action, they now need eight hook actions for iridescent at red ranks meaning they will need 8 of 9 remaining hook actions. That means hooking two survivors three times and the last guy at least twice. Just because a survivor is on potato internet or decided to ragequit on the first hook cause he didn't want to play against Hillbilly/Hag/Huntress/Freddy/Spirit/Nurse/Ghostface/Myers (did I miss anyone?) doesn't mean I just automatically give up my chance at pipping. Kills are irrelevant. Now I won't play scummy as I have the advantage, I'll spread the hooks out so no one gets tunneled, intentionally lose people I find on death hook until they are all on death hook, etc. I'll probably even afk for a bit in the middle of the game if they are really behind on generators (though recently I've found that even in three man games the generators can still fly quite quickly). I'll let them get their BP and we can farm, but they aren't surviving in the end.

  • You would think they would at least have the common sense to not equip stuff until the last few seconds to not give it away.

Don't know if you meant to but I liked the double meaning there.

Could mean "calm spirit" like the perk in the shrine currently or a "calm" spirit meaning a low intensity liquor to take the edge off.

Don't know if that was your intention but if so hats off.

Which pisses off survivor and killer alike honestly. Survivor gets screwed out of his last life, and I get screwed out of putting him back on that hook one more time.

I probably will not ever understand the pipping obsession, because to me, it's about did you do what the game intended for you to do and that's either kill, or survive. So if the killer kills everyone, the job is done. Same for survivors escaping. That said, killers should get a bonus at the end for a quad kill. I thought they did, but I guess I was wrong on that.

Sadly BHVR doesn't see it that way.

Why do people keep saying this on 3/31 and yes I know time zones but BHVR is in the same time zone as me so...

Because if you just change it on April 1st everyone gets it immediately and no one falls for it.

Doing it a day early actually gets some people to fall for it.

    Would think this was obvious.....

Thank you friend. Also, anyone else only have calm spirit in their shrine?

Yes, check what day it is tomorrow, the answer should be obvious.

  • Mori's, particularly if they are being used after the first hook, which is the only time they would be anything other than an alternative way to eliminate a player on death hook, will almost always end in a safety pip, due to a lower devout (less chances for hook actions), malicious (less offensive hits), and chaser (less chases over the game due to early death of survivors) scores. As the saying goes "didn't entertain survivors enough, no pip for you".

Keys on the other hand reward a survivor with 5k BP for the escape, along with a large boost to their survival score, and doesn't impact their ability to pip or double pip in the slightest as they can still do generators and then use the key at the end if they so choose, or they can even save it for another game if they didn't need it. Keys can be used to bypass a good killer 3 gen allowing up to 2 people to escape which is really the only time a 3 gen for a killer is truly effective anyway (3 survivors alive it's 50/50, 4 survivors it's a losing war of attrition unless the survivors are potatoes or the killer is a god).

I lol @ all of these key counter arguments because it doesn't come close to how easy an Ebony Mori can be done.

You realize half the "counter arguments" are killers saying "we'll give up keys if you give up Mori's" right?

The difference between Mori's is they penalize killers for using them, while keys reward survivors for using them.

  • @Schmierbach said:

I ask Mr. Puddles if your finger is worthy.

    What he said.

You know we have to make a conscious decision to bring a Mori before the game even starts right? We don't get the option midway through the game to just decide to start using a Mori. Also bringing a Mori hurts our chances at pipping as killing you early is detrimental to both Malicious and Devout scores. Not to mention less chases so chaser is affected too. Honestly gatekeeper is the only emblem Mori's don't objectively harm.

What was I talking about again?

Oh right, but I'm here to help, not harm, so here's some tips based on the kind of Mori you see.

Ebony (Red) Mori - Nothing to worry about here, that killer is planning to Mori everyone and probably the second they get off their first hook.

Ivory (Green) Mori - This is likely a killer looking to get to a 3 survivor game in a hurry, so what you need to do is get their attention and let them take you down, early and often, likely if you are on death hook and maybe even before they should take you out with it.

Cypress (Yellow) Mori - Probably the rarest (yes, even more rare than the Ebony) because honestly it's so situational you rarely get to use it. However if you happen to see this Mori in game just make sure that you let yourself get caught by the killer after everyone else has either escaped or been sacrificed.

There ya go, should be good to go for all your dying needs now! No need to thanks me, it's just the kind of person I am.

I actually thought they missed a golden opportunity for a morally ambiguous survivor with the Chains of Hate DLC. Since the Deathslinger was an ex-con who became a somewhat perverted lawman they should have had a survivor who was the opposite, a good man who became a criminal with a heart of gold or Robin hood type.

i will do tomorrow 10 games and send you 10 screenshots because youre doubting so hard xd

and again soloQ are punished for bad teammates xd (thats summarizing problem, its too easy to pip as surv so 4Heads are in red ranks) atm its almost impossible for surv to depip(even on redrank) unless youre afk, killer is afk, surv is getting tunneled/camped (as 1st/2nd), 1 unhook and 1 heal = at least gold in benevolent xd thats too broken

I mean I'm playing games myself tonight, and I see an obsession every single game. So you're 10 games will just conflict with my games and we'll agree to disagree.

I do agree with you that pipping as a survivor is a little too easy, but I would say the bigger issue is pipping as killer is sometimes a little too hard. If the killer emblem system wasn't so bad, I think you would see a little bit less of the behavior you don't like to see.

Nobody did that sadly. You want to do one? I can take killer role.

Pfft, if I'm doing one it's gonna be on my own gameplay as killer, get in line buddy :)

But seriously, I mean I could but I think you can see plenty from watching the streamers that are already going, guys like Otz, Tru, and others to see what the game looks like at high levels.

I think the meta right now is quick games and killers do have to adjust. Generators just go fast now and you have to be prepared and ready to counter that. Pop Goes the Weasel, Thrilling Tremors, Corrupt Intervention, whatever it takes. You also have to be able to tactically slug when needed to occupy survivors with picking their people up and getting them off generators.

Playing meta killers is also more critical than ever sadly and some killers suffer as a result. If you just adore playing Freddy, Spirit, Nurse, or Hillbilly you're in for a good time, because they are viable on every map.

I think changing Hex: Ruin was the right choice I just think the timing was wrong. Do it after you change some of these really bad maps, make them more balanced, and I think the game benefits. Doing it now and I think you made a lot of killers just have such a horrible time it's hurting the killer player base.

I don't personally have a problem with second chance perks as they do some level of anti-tunneling and anti-camping work. About the only thing I wish was that DS would cancel after 30 seconds instead of one minute if I hook someone else.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1185528#Comment_1185528

Again. The actual gameplay doesnt change.

Here are some most valueable rules for any tournament:

Noed can only be used once per tournament stage.

And there are certain perks banned to use as / against specific killers mostly its ds(old one) and OOO. You can find that info here:

    https://discordapp.com/channels/328940576110280707/503518786993913886

Again, I can look at general tournament rules too, and found a lot more than you did.

But again, doesn't change the crux of my post, without the context of tournament rules for THIS tournament, analyzing is impossible.

I mean if you're interested in analyzing for game balance, why not just link a video of a regular non-tournament game that has no limitations? Wouldn't that be a better indicator of the game's current balance for the average player?

This is like saying a regular unranked League of Legends game with people who's MMR is around Silver is the same as game at Worlds. Same game, same rules even, but miles apart in terms of how the games actually go.

tomorrow i will play about 10 soloQ games (have to finish rift) i will do screen shots and i can send you, i even have old yt channel where i used to upload 1soloQ surv game per week (just checked last 6 surv games, in 1 there was DS and in 1 killer had rancor but no DS) (last upload 4 weeks ago, i can give you link you can check in game obsession)

and about 16 perk slots and only 1 for DS, well how in soloQ you will tell who would run DS?? im not gonna ask in every lobby xd

"If a killer has enough time to tunnel through DS and BT, and hook one survivor three times, and you didn't punish him by knocking out 5 generators and laughing at him from the exit gate that's a failure on your part,"

and again that only works for swf i wont put gun to randoms head "do fckin gen" xd when random sees more bp he is just going to farm hooked guy (even without bt) and help killer with tunneling xd

most of your statements are good in theory but in practice you need 4 survs to use brain and that happens almost only in swf (because you wont invite 4Head )

and btw i noticed funny thing, soloQ surv use less 2nd chance perks than SWF (and im not talking only about DS)

If you're playing solo queue at high ranks I find it incredibly hard to believe that you aren't seeing at least one DS per team. Again not impossible, but implausible considering it's one of the most meta perks in the game at this point.

And no, that doesn't just work in SWF. If survivors don't know to do generators while someone is being chased that's a failure on their part. You can't help a survivor who is being chased except maybe following for a flashlight save, the only way to hurt the killer is doing generators.

And please, I know solo queue survivors at high ranks know this all too well, otherwise I wouldn't have 1-2 generators pop in the first two minutes after I've done a couple chases. If they were all just panicking when I was chasing someone these generators wouldn't be popping.

And you even say it yourself, them farming is the problem, survivors shouldn't be helping a killer tunnel and instead going for safe saves. I mean, play the game better? I don't know what else to tell you here.

SoloQ use less second chance perks than SWF because many SWF utilize their advantage to bully killers for fun, it's pretty obvious when it's happening. Generators won't be going, but every pickup will be contested by a flashlight, someone sabotaging a hook, trying to pallet drop to get a save, but it'll be every single hook. I personally prefer this game because it's not that hard to counterplay this type of stuff (look at a wall, check around before picking up a survivor near a pallet, etc.).

Yet I am not allowed to have my own opinion.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but people like you do not like it when they have a different opinion than yours - you prefer to harass people and berate them.

No one said you weren't allowed to have your own opinion, show me where I said that you liar.

And again, I called you out for not having the slightest clue what you are talking about, killers get more BP because they spend more BP per match with no recourse to save their addons except utilizing a black ward, which are rare to acquire. Just cause you don't like that you got called out on not having basic understand of how each side goes through BP and hence the difference in BP accumulation you wanna pretend that I threatened you or claimed you can't have your own opinion, both of which are false.

You're a scumbag who likes to falsely accuse people of "threatening". And now everyone can see it.

Threatening people to not have their own opinion is messed up.

Quote the threat, because lying about what someone posted is also messed up.

Just cause you don't like that you got called out for not knowing the basics of the killer economy for BP vs. survivors doesn't mean I "threatened" you in the slightest. And misrepresentation of someone's post just so you can claim victim points is pretty scummy.

  • @Galklife said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1185516#Comment_1185516

you would have a point but in most of my games there is no obsession (i can only remember recent soloQ and 8/8 games on R1 there wasnt obsession, and when i play swf we dont use DS anyway) xd

so i guess its my fault for not having DS (and that only shows how DS/obsession is important because if there is no obsession killers begin to play like ....heads because they see survivors dont run meta perks which should be opposite xd)

and even if you tell from short term value its better for him to finish his current chase, all those 4Heads know if they take out 1 surv from the game its almost free win and even tunnel through DS and BT

You have games at Red Ranks where there is no obsession? I'm not gonna call you a liar but I find that VERY hard to believe, as one can appear as long as ONE survivor is running OOO or DS, or if the killer is running STBFL, PWYF, Nemesis, Furtive Chase, or Dying Light. Not saying it's impossible, but implausible would seem fitting here.

Well it's not your fault for not having DS, it is your team's fault for not one of you bringing it. 16 perk slots, couldn't afford one to slap on a DS to make a killer respect it at all times for all of you? Seems like a worthwhile trade to me.

If a killer has enough time to tunnel through DS and BT, and hook one survivor three times, and you didn't punish him by knocking out 5 generators and laughing at him from the exit gate that's a failure on your part, no one else's. Tunneling through all that should always end with a depip and a pitiful BP score for a 1k, otherwise you are rewarding the same kind of play you seek to eliminate from the game.

    1) Yes but those mostly are just perks offerings etc. The actual gameplay doesnt change.

    2) Like what?

    3) There will be more. Dont worry.

"Just perks and offerings" um, those are kind of important.

In most tournaments for example including ones I've played in the following rules are quite common:

OOO is banned, I'm sure you can figure out why.

Keys are usually banned as well and cannot be used even if found. Same with Mori's.

Usually there is rules on how many toolboxes can be brought, and brand new parts are usually banned.

Map Offerings are not allowed for either side, and extremely killer or survivor sided maps (stuff like Hawkins or Disturbed Ward) are removed from the rotation.

Additionally with tournaments they are normally structured around a point scenario, so player motivations may differ from a standard game where kills and escapes are paramount objectives.

Just picking random tournament footage without explaining in context what the rules were doesn't confirm or deny any point that you're trying to make.

If you're going to link tournament footage and want it "analyzed" you should be including the rules set, or at least find me a Russian translator.

  • @DocFabron said:

    This is b8, right?

God I hope so. It's not even plausible. 32K is the hard cap for a game for killers so anyone who believes a guy got 30k while facecamping is just gullible.

which is boring and why camping needs to be looked at. no one plays this game to hold m1 and leave

Really? Cause I could have sworn the whole reason to destroy Hex: Ruin was to allow survivors to do exactly this?

"WAAH! We don't want to look for totems! Great skill checks are too hard to hit! Generators take too long! WAAH!"

So now I'm forced into playing Spirit, Freddy, and Hillbilly over and over again or risk getting gen rushed to absolute death inside of 5 minutes or less.

I mean thankfully for me I like playing all those killers, but having a chill game with Legion or Clown? At high ranks? Not happening.

    @Galklife said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1184309#Comment_1184309

right because R1 killers have upgraded facecamping to tunneling off the hook for "efficiency" (and i mean killers that are dropping chase just to down and pick up unhooked surv)

Yeah as a R1 killer, this is pretty much wrong.

Why would I break chase on someone I should be able to hook to down someone I won't be able to pick up?

We don't tunnel off the hook because we assume that every survivor has DS (and we're usually not wrong in that assessment).

Now if you would have said we slug off the hook at times then I would have said guilty as charged. It's one of the only effective ways many killers have to slow the game down at this point, and it's still countered by unbreakable or just getting a teammate to come pick you up.

In short, you don't know me, and you know nothing of my work.

    @NotColton147 said:

Killers will always receive bloodpoints no matter if they are good or bad. They can be AFK and they will still gain bloodpoints.

Games are much more killer-sided than survivor-sided.

Killers receive more bloodpoints because they lose their addons no matter if they win or lose herp a derp, it's to counter higher BP costs per match than survivors who can reuse toolboxes, medkits, and flashlights assuming they escape with the. Hell survivors can find items in chests, escape, and net items.
