  • Do you check your ping to the server in lobby? you can see it around chat box. Avoid anything >150ms.

  • Basement have always been there, and feels like its too iconic for the game. Imo only arguable change to basement would be maybe, just maybe adding 2nd entrance. And it's quite arguable idea. Definitely wouldnt delete it.

Also i would love to see the shrine for how many totems are left on the map, idea posted in other thread. Other than that, basement is fine.

lol. In any other ranked game people want to go up in ladder as high as possible facing the strongest enemies, why would here be otherwise?

Why do you think someone is intersted in playing vs boring potatoes? Complete nonsense.

well, i dont have math (i dont need it anyway, i would like to simply see MMR and mb top 100 killers ) but im having the easiest games of my life and this is not very fun.

Do you even read forum? there is at least one post daily, whining about how OP SWF rank 1 survivors are

I've seen STREAMERS with big audience (>1k viewers) deranking ON stream. I've seen bunch of derankers DCing at the beginning of the game or standing still. And you are going to tell me noone would abuse loopholes? Good joke sir.

People used to purposely downrank for this reason anyway. There's no stopping that sort of thing.

Obviously you wont stop it. But it doesn't mean we should help them, does it?

That literally doesn't make any sense. If we don't know what we are at, how can you manipulate it?

As a community we deserve to know how we're supposed to "outplay" the others. Clearly it isn't rank, they even said rank doesn't matter in their announcement (which is hilarious btw). Which implies that the system the determines rank doesn't matter, I.E. points, emblems, pips... So what, actually, is it?

If it doesn't make any sense to you, then knowing the math behind MMR system wont change anything for you anyway.

Good players (or rather mathematicians) could find out how to enjoy the game (whatever they mean by that, some want to get 4 BBQ stacks, some want to get 4k every game, etc) while constantly loosing MMR or not gaining much. So bunch of redranks would be able to have easy games against lower ranks, which would destroy matchmaking.

Of course that wouldn't be possible in perfect system, but such thing does not exist and never will. Game is too complex to have perfect matchmaking. So some behaviours in game may bring too high MMR penalties, and having math revealed would allow those penalties to be found and finally let players abuse them to have easier matchmaking in future games.

About "how to outplay the other side". Objective of the game didnt change much if at all. Survivor wants to get fair bit of being chased, healing and unhooking others, completing objective (gens) and finally escaping. Not wall licking and hiding in grass all game long.

Killer wants to chase survivors, hit them a bunch, apply preasure, get some hooks going, prevent objective from being completed and finally sacrifice as many survivors as its possible (although developers said that intended outcome of the game is average of 2 sacrifices). Do not camp the hook, that makes you waste your time and prevents you from fullfilling your objective in the game.

  • Basically Bamboozle, but not limited to windows. Sounds too strong.

  • if they "give us the math", people will find loopholes to work around the system, and get easy games against lower rank survivors

  • First of all, beauty is subjective. What you find disgusting or ugly, others will really like. You are not forced to use any cosmetics in game.

Secondly Pyramid head is licensed killer, there might be some problems with making cosmetics for those. Judging by amount of cosmetics Myers has and by how long he has been in the game, that must be the case that they most likely need a permission for licensed characters cosmetics or something like that.

Finally instead of just whining maybe try thinking about some ideas. Do a sketch or a detailed description of what you would like to see. You will see that it's not so easy to actually come up with a good idea that would fit the game.

  • I agree, when i first started the game, and "exposed" status effect from noed poped up, i just yeeted out of the gate, as i thought killer could see my aura all the time. Change is needed for new players.

  • With quick & quiet it allows you to break almost any chase, unless killer is a god. Its like Head on, but instead of stunning killer, giving you few seconds to gain distance, you just escape chase instantly. Although it sounds like a cool perk, it would be quite gamebreaking in my opinion.

  • Once they fix DC penalties it wont be as common.

Also remember that intended outcome of the game is on average 2 survivors dead, 2 escaping (according to devs that is their plan for the game balancing). So if you got 2 killed, 3rd on the ground, you already reached more than enough. Ofc you can go for 4k, but dont feel bad if you dont get it. You are not meant to get 4k every game.

  • Shrine is great to obtain perks from characters which you do not own. It have been here really long, in meanwhile many new perks were introduced. It may be a good idea to increase amount of perks in shrine to 5 (5th one would be chosen at random to be either killer or survivor one) or even to 6 (3 killer perks and 3 survivor perks). Would reduce grind for new players a little bit. But since it could affect DLC sale rates, I can see that not being a great idea from developer point of view.

  • so if he sees injured survivor he can just use FF to have guaranteed (5.2m/s + faster vaults = it's hard not to hit a survivor) down on him? Is that what you want? Seems kinda strong on first look. Survivors would have to keep healing against him.

  • @SilentSpectre said:

Even more ez escapes for undeserving survivors? No thanks!

well, based on stats the survivor kill ratio is currently way too high. But I have to agree, in my opinion that's not the way to fix the problem. In posted scenario hatch was available but it was closed. That's how game collapse works, you already lost the race for the hatch so you have second chance with the gates. Third chance is not needed.

  • i would be rather behing swaping the rarities of those addons than bringing old syringe back. it was too strong against basic M1 killers like wraith or clown

  • I wonder if you walk in the shop like that and ask the owner to sell stuff for lower prices. Just because you believe price is not low enough doesn't mean they should lower it. They can sell it as high as they want, at worst noone will buy given cosmetics, but that's their problem. That's how world works, you can sell your stuff for whatever price you want, at worst you will get little to even no customers.

  • They are unique. Some are huge, like Jeff, some are small, like feng. Some are loud like billy, some are silent like Tapp. Some have really dark cosmetics (and even basic outfits) to hide better, like claudette, and some are really bright (nea with colorful hair, etc.)

if you are going to make certain perks better at certain survivors, we will just see the best ones over and over again, like we see with perks (DS, BT, DH almost always in any build).

  • jiwix, I'm sorry to say but you probably don't have too much experience in the game. Sprint burst may not be as easy to use as Dead Hard is, but it is a powerful perk. Majority of experienced players agrees with it.

It is not meant to be used in chase (unless you can manage your exhaustion really well) to gain distance on killer, it's used mostly to work on generators in so-called "dead zones" without any pallets or vaults around.

  • @Plaquer said:

Yeah toolboxes can be pretty broken, ScottJund suggested bringing a "Safety Mori", so if you see a bunch of people with toolboxes or medkits you bring an ebony to balance it out, if they arent burning through gens you dont have to use the mori, but you atleast have that as an option for an equaliser

Bad idea. When i see a mori i just genrush because i don't want to get murdered after 1 hook. Most of the players does that.

  • if you had a button to turn it on it would be way, waaaaay too strong.

It would be literally Lithe, but you don't have to find vault place. Lithe has downside - you need a vault. Sprint burst has a downside - you need to manage your exhaustion.

  • Well yes. Survivors run back at you, that's the form of outplaying you (and there are not many of them against nurse). Takeing it away from survivors is kinda like asking for autoaim hatchets on huntress so they can't sidestep it. Please don't. Don't make nurse stronger than she already is.

Also remember that you can aim down, to the ground, to blink way closer than what you charged, if you can master it you wont need canceling anyway.

    tried him on ptb

    omgggggggg its soooooo baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

devs what are you thinking lmao

While I understand you may be annoyed with legion changes, please try to specify what you don't like about it. Devs needs a feedback and that's what PTB is for. Obviously they will make mistakes, but without feedback they can't really fix them.

  • object of obsession is high risk - high reward kind of perk. It's just like ruin. Ruin can be pain for survivors for even all 5 gens, on the other hand it can be cleansed before killer can even get to it, first 30s of the game.

New undetectable status effect works as intended. Yes, it nerfs OoO. But OoO was just way too powerful against stealth killers. Specially in well coordinated SWF group, it would make killers like GF & Wraith almost unplayable and made Piggy way harder than she already is.

From what I understood you are trying to say that killer can sneak up on you and insta down you, and you don't have any chance to react. Well, you do. Instead of running OoO you can choose Spine Chill. Correct me if im wrong, but I think it works even with undetectable status effect.

TL DR: OoO is fine, undetectable is fine.

  • Imo the best way to "nerf swf" is to actually start with buffing survivors, so solo survivors would have all the information that SFW have (kindred in basekit? chase indicators to know who is in chase?) so there is almost no difference between solo players and SWF.

Once that's done all killers should get the buff (longer gens fixing times? stronger perks? dunno what, but something for sure)

That would be ultimate solution, if it wouldn't matter for the killer if he is against 4 solo survivors or SWF group.

  • Bring the yellow mori, noone will blind you during that :)

  • if kills are enough people will just use ebony mori & tunnel survivors for easy achievements

those are called CHALLENGES (achievements) for a reason - they are HARD to do. You have to actually work to get them, have multiple tries, you cant get them almost for free

  • Instead of genrushing like crazy just go and get the hat off

I'm sorry but if you have problems with pig I'm assuming you are not too good at the game so here is advise from me:

    • don't crouch / walk, just run. Don't be afraid to leave Scratch Marks.
    • Get it off as quick as it's possible, don't stay on gennie, don't go for unhooks, let other teammates do that. Once you get better at the game you will be able to judge when you can ignore the trap, for now just try to take it off.

  • Licensed character gets unlocked by a player -> license holder ask for money (as he has rights to it).

Asking devs to make licensed killer unlockable via shards = asking them to pay for your in-game purchase (part of the DLC price that would go to license holder).

So no, that will never happen

  • but that could give away wraith sneaking behind the survivor that did not notice him. And that would make him even weaker than he already is

  • Watch Otzdarva, he is red rank trapper main, he still can get like 10 people trapped per game against sweaty SWF groups. It's all about thinking outside the box and using right addons, use Tar bottle with yellow bag and you are good to go

  • I agree with 99% gates, that's stupid.

Maybe we could make gates regress slowly if not being touchd by default

  • Why should others be rewarded event skins if they didn't participate in the event?

The logic to keep legacy exclusive applies to event skins also.

Well, since i wasn't here back then i don't know how it is with event skins. If they were not unlocked via code, so couldn't be sold, then im also against releasing them again for free. It's kinda like giving the face slap to those, who worked for them.

The code could also be solved diferently, by like removing all the codes instead of giving them away for free, i wouldn't mind that. But there would still be people falling for the shady code sales, and they will spend money on scammers instead on the game.

  • "Balance was an issue and I left the game for several months."

And Legacy is a reward for those that did not quit. For those, who supported the game by building the player base, actively playing and grinding the points. Why people like you or me, who did not support game back then, should be rewarded for supporting the game back then. I don't understand.

And from what I understood (correct me if im wrong) the main reason for those skins to be given to everyone is to fight with scammers. Here, beginning of the first sentence:

Most importantly, the codes for these cosmetics were also being sold by code resellers for exorbitant amounts of money. Others were taking advantage of this by creating fake listings to scam people out of their money [...].

And since legacy is not available anymore people cannot get scammed into buying it, so there is no reason to give it for free.

  • as someone who plays for just a few months (so obviously i don't own any legacy):

maybe, JUST MAYBE, devs could make new version that you could somehow earn. But old version should never be given away. It's reward for supporting game early, before it was well-known, and players actually had to work their asses off for it.

  • Demogorgon is fine, specially if you play him right. Pick STBFL, use shred to prevent losing stacks on obsession and you are reversed Huntress, M1 - quick recovery - M2.

  • Fixing gens is just boring. So what you want to do is to punish survivors for reaching higher ranks by prolonging the boring part of the game. I don't think that this is the way game should work. Yes, gen rushers are annoying, yes we do need some fix around this but no, it should not be based on ranking.

BL infinites are OK because they are only on certain maps, guys. You heard it here first.

Excuse me sir, but you probably have problems with reading. Where did Aven_Fallen say that infinites are fine? All he said was that Maps are at fault, not the perk itself.

"Maps are the problem" = Maps needs to be fixed, simple as that.

  • Take away DCs from people by banning them and they will just run into killer and kill themself on the hook. And killer may be aware of what they are doing and leave the slug on the ground, letting it bleed out or be picked up for more hit points. Temporary bans are not really a solution, they would just increase overall toxicity of the game.

Instead, after survivor DCing, game should adapt to 3vs1 gameplay SOMEHOW, but I'm going to be honest here - i have no idea how to achieve it. Maybe increase the speed of fixing a generator by 25% for each DC? But that would be problematic if someone would DC while getting hanged for 3rd time in trial - unjustified buff for other survivors.

  • Well, while i see your point, you can think about those 9k shards as early-access pass. You paid them tho acces the part of DLC content before buying the DLC.

But i don't see the problem with returning some shards in scenario like that, maybe not 100% but at very least 50%.

  • yea, i agree with that, stopping regression should take ~3s of fixing but to be honest it's not a huge deal now imo.

  • @AlexisFox said:

Obviously people can't read. It was ALREADY WORKING WITH MLGA. Your stupid article does NOT apply.

I have never used MLGA. Hella lots of players have never used it. So no, it was not working already because not everyone was using it.

  • they need to be polished up a little, there are some known bugs to be fixed but imo its still better than forgetting to check the ping in lobby and getting into 300 ping game with killer teleporting all over the map (right not I don't remember last game I had over 60 ping)

  • Instaheals were NOT fine.

Imagine clown, who already has problems getting survivors down, manages to down survivor JUST to see other survivor run in and use syringe before he can pick up downed guy. It releases way too much pressure clown had to work for by downing survivor. Basically for FREE.

Also a small reminder: devs said their goal is to get average of 2 survivors killed per game. So if you are mad that you can't 4man escape each game, well, that is not how game is supossed to work anyway. 1-2 instaheals against weak killer like clown or legion and it's hard to achieve one kill, unless survivors are like really, really terrible.

I'm happy with changes and looking forward for Keys and Moris nerf too - both makes game really unfun for the other side.

  • you can't punish rage quitters with deranking. Because people will exploit it to stay in low ranks forever and have easy games.

    30mins timeout sounds way better

  • while i understand that gens are melting way too quick, specially in high ranks where survivors can actually loop the killer, your idea is wrong. And here is why - in short, repairing the generator is pretty much the most boring part of the game. You just hold M1, sometimes hit a skill check. And what you want to do is to punish players with extended repairing speed for being good at the game (if achieving high rank means being good).

What will happen? People will just derank. Increased amount of DCers to have shorter gens. Killing themselfs on the hook. It will be real clown fiesta.

I think that the way to balance SFW is to first buff solo survivors (maybe make kindred base kit? maybe add voice chat? maybe give other players global indicator that their teammate is in chase?) and THEN buff killers around SFW. Make solo survivors have as many resources as SFW have so we can buff killers to be able to face sfw.

  • NO. Instaheals are NOT fine. Keys are NOT fine. 1hook moris are NOT fine.

All of those needs changes & majority of the community agrees with that. For weaker killer, like clown or Legion, Having a survivor instahealed with syringe right as they got downed usually means 1-2 kills less, that's how much pressure it releases.

  • Starting with all traps could allow trapper to 3gen every game too easily, i would rather have Entity to put random unset trap into his pocket every 60s or something.

  • Autodidact increasing repairing speed? With green toolboxes and stuff? You want all 5 gens to melt in 3mins?

Also 13%?! i saw red rankers hitting great skill check like 90% of the time, with average of 3 skillchecks per gen (can be waaaay higher) it would be average of 39% of gen for free. Even with just a good skillcheck it would be 15% for free. Can we not? :)

Blood warden seems way too strong. Its like a better NOED because if there is no pallet near by survivor have no chance to loop the killer at all. Also if both gates would be blocked killer can just mindlessly camp the totem unless survivors just give up.

  • Why is slugging such a problem for you? If killer slugs you since beginning of the game then 2 other survivors can work on gennie and one can just come to M1 tap you for healing if you recovered. Killer is slugging 3 survivors at the beginning of the game? Well, maybe survivors were just BAD to get into situation like that? It was at last 3 hits (up to 6 for killers without instadowns), good survivors should on average loop the killer for quite a while with it.

He slugs in 2vs1 so other guy doesn't get the hatch? Well if he is camping the slug then you can pretty much just find the hatch. Or you can camp the gate that is futher away. You have lots of plays. And if he is looking for you then you can pick up slug and both of you have 2nd chance to win.

You see this is complex game. It's not easy to make it 100% balanced. Also is there even any fix for the slugging? You want unbreakable in base kit? You want to bleed out faster? It's really easy to point out that something is wrong, but how about coming up with a solution instead? I personally don't really see it.

While talking about killer abusing game mechanics - here is something in return:

    • Why does killer have to spend perk slot (hex: ruin) to fight against what survivors abuse the most - gen rushing with op toolboxes,
    • Why does killer have to be punished for survovr making mistake at loop (trying to loop 1 too many times) and miss their attack due to DH?
    • Why does killer have to be abused by balanced landing in haddonfield?
