But when you play solo you should have as a maximum priority your life, not to get everyone saved, sadly. Without communication you have to asume that some sacrifices have to be made.

This isn't survival of the fittest.

Survivors are supposed to work together to survive.

That's why there are 4 sides to a gen and a shared goal.

What's the point in me using my teammates as pawns for some stupid perk that forces me to either: A) play in a group which every killers hate or B) Equip counter perks by predicting BBQ while I cross my fingers and hope others will do the same.

    It's stupid.

  • @VonCrow said:

"I don't wanna hear hide in a locker" but dude thats basically the major counter of BBQ.

Is like asking "how to counter noed" and saying "don't tell me to do totems".

That's because even if I do, others won't and what's the point if three other survivors die and I have like 3~4 gens left?

    That's not helpful at all.

  • @The_Daydreamer said:

U can counter a perk with a perk u know. Use Distortion. It doesn't only hide your aura, it even tells you which perks he has. It can tell if he uses bbq, blood warden or nurses calling. Besides that it hides your scratch marks aswell.

Beaides that, this is more a random survivor issue. Everyone should always assume a killer uses bbq and play around it. Or simply play kindred since it tells you which way he is going. It counters bbq since you know he is coming so you can instantly run to a safe area etc.

Okay, so I must do the following:

    1. Assume BBQ is always there.
    2. Equip a counter perk for that exact perk.
    3. Hope other random survivors do the same.

    Got it.

    But I hope it works.

  • @Milo said:

    Get into range.

.... get better at chasing? (that sounds stupid but well)

    Don't play solos.

But people get mad as hell if I run SWF.

and furthermore, must I be forced to run SWF cuz of some perk?

    Ridiculous.

To be fair, he is Korean and in Korea this type of man isn’t directly considered to be feminine, they have other beauty standards and all.

its not about them looking like real life gangsters?

its about this dlc not feeling like its korean but rather just japanese in every way apart from the backdrop and the fact that they happen to speak korean, but that would be like playing this game in germany and the characters being dubbed over and suddenly you therefor claiming they are german characters....

Its just way too vague, never before was I disappointed by BHVR's devision responsible for this...but now...now I am, its just bad.

But, K-Pop idols do wear what Trickster wears in real life.

    That's the point.

You really think the devs looked at Yakuza games and were inspired by their "fictional depiction"? or do you think they were just looking at K-Pop idols?

I just think you've never actually seen an actual Yakuza in real life.

I have. In Japan, in Tokyo.

I've also seen plenty of K-Pop idols since I'm Korean and my uncle is in the part of the industry.

and I can tell you that his perfect hair, skin, clothes and even his mannerisms all scream "K-POP Idol" than a "Japanese Yakuza".

    Just accept the truth.

  • You are comparing a fictional killer to a real life one?

Many things will likely overlap since many of the killers are based off of real life murderers.

You don't need to feel afraid of living in South Korea because of one character in one game.

If you do feel like having a panic attack, you need to go see a psychiatrist and book a meeting.

    You will need professional help.

    Good luck and stay safe.

  • Oh, so it wasn't just me.

yeah, I play on PC with a pretty decent gaming computer and the frame drops scared the hell out of me haha....

Hopefully they fix it before the release.

Did you see the screenshot I posted of Yakuza? the japanese videogame? set in japan? because....yeah....

That is an over-extended, hyper-exggerated take on the modern Yakuzas.

There are two Korean character there too.

    ezgif.com-webp-to-png.png ezgif.com-webp-to-png 2.png

These two are from the EXACT SAME GAME you are talking about.

Do these look like real life gangsters to you?

Joon-gi looks closer to the Trickster than any of the Japanese Yakuzas in the game.

They are also in fact heavily based on Korean fashion and aesthetics so your argument gets less value from pointing this out BTW.

    1. Daytime culture and night culture in Korea are also good. However, night culture has its own painful past Korean culture.

    2. Someone might be crying a lot behind that shining neon sign.

    3. The Han River Bridge is one of the most sad places to visit. Because sensitive issues (suicide) are one of the most popular attractions. So one of the places that people in Korea go when they lose all their lives is the bridge.

Yeah I understand that since I'm Korean myself.

But you could say that to any culture around the world.

Japan has the suicide forest and since Yamaoka Estate "happens" to be in a forest, do you think it has any direct correlation to the grim part of Japanese culture?

    Absolutely not.

You are delving way too much into this.

  • @BioX said:

because it does not feel korean to me, feels really rather anime, the killer is like straight from a Yakuza game...which is japan(ese)....

An opened shirt with slicked back hair screams yakuza to you?

Have you even seen an actual 80/90's Yakuza from Japan?

Pretty much exactly my thoughts on this whole thing. People say the guy doesn't look scary, but if you were looking this man in the eye while he mutilated you, the sheer malice coming from him and horror of realizing you are about to die makes him the most terrifying thing to you in that moment.

Also on the topic of physically weak-looking killers, the female Legion members are even smaller than him, yet they can lift up people; pretty sure the lore explains the Entity empowered them to do things they couldn't normally do so physicality is irrelavent.

    Exactly.

It's also a great criticism of Korean pop culture always promoting perfect looks but never actually looking into one's intentions and personality.

It's absolutely childish and immature to judge someone by their looks.

Many of the roster in the survivor category seem like they wouldn't survive versing the killers in a single night. Yet they canonically manage.

People need to grow up and see the bigger picture.

If we were making video games vs real life monsters it'd be a boring bit of content. Clearly there are customers out there that'll chew up this garbage. Those of us that helped build this house for the horror franchises to rest in got seriously catfished. Enjoy those lollipop sticks.

    Sure.

And you can go back to being infatuated by grotesque monsters and their mangled faces...

  • @Mozzie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1990650#Comment_1990650

You miss my point entirely. If the killer isn't physically threatening on their own why not just have lollipop chainsaw as a killer? There's no reason to not add slenderman and FNAF in the game anymore because the requirements to be considered a killer is not saving your friends from a fire....followed by some more inane backstory.

When your next best option for killer is a K-pop star your horror franchise is in trouble.

Your points are so rudimentary that it's not worth my time delving into it.

Stop thinking in a 1-demnsional mindset.

Scariest killers in human history such as Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, Ed Gein or Ted Bundy weren't scary cuz of how they looked.

It's what they were capable of doing and what they did.

Hell, some people thought Dahmer was pretty attractive in the past.

    Coming back to my point.

It can be a lollipop stick as the weapon for all I care.

If someone shoved that thing so far into someone's skull that it literally popped an eyeball, I'd be focusing more on the perpetrator than the weapon itself. Maybe it's just me.

Plague literally VOMITS on to people's faces and yet you think a flamboyant killer with a bladed baseball bat is unfit.

    Go figure.

and NO, this chapter is NOT the next best option FYI.

  • @Mozzie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1990607#Comment_1990607

You must be new here! People on these forums are pretty desperate and think just about all the killers are attractive, I'll save you from a certain subreddit. There's simply nothing physically imposing about this guy. They took Leto's Joker (I assume that's what some people think is 'hip') and gave him a Korean twist. Or perhaps was inspired by something of Korean culture that I have no idea and I won't assume that I do. I just know it has no place resting next to Michael Myers on the killer selection screen.

That still doesn't justify why the new killer is getting all the hate especially being "K-POP" (AKA pretty boy look) influenced.

Leatherface, Ghostface, Legion, Pig and Myers are all general human beings with nothing magical about them.

The only difference is that they all hide their mugs in some hideous, grotesque masks that cover their faces.

They could look like models for all we know.

    My point is.

Just because the new killer is a pretty boy and doesn't have some Halloween mask like the other human killers doesn't make him unfit for the franchise.

I like his story and motif. He is a ruthless killer.

    It's DEAD by daylight

    not SCARED by daylight.

  • I think people are mad cuz he's good looking.

If he was ugly AF people wouldn't complain. Insecurity at it's best. (Imagine Doctor's face on this guy)

The important part is that he is mentally unstable and is a ruthless killer despite of his good looks and talent.

Why do people assume ugly = scary?

  • It's out.

It was likely the PTB was going to drop today so it's your own fault tuning in to Twitch and browsing social media lol

I mean, I just wanted to see the streamer's reaction to the reveal. How is that my fault?

Yeah, but the spoiler kind of took all the fun out of me instead... So... welp

So I guess it is today indeed.

  • Yeah I meant Resistance.

Sorry forgot that name even existed in the franchise.

  • They said the same for Friday the 13th.

They said the same for resident evil Resistance.

They are saying the same for this.

Yun-jin is probably the survivor and the one in the blue outfit, the fancyness may be she was attending an awards ball or something (linking perhaps to the night of her disappearance, she's probably a journalist like Zarina. This man might be the killer. He sounds like he might be a burns victim as well so along the MO of a killer's description, horrific burns, possibly an incentive related to this, etc.

    I really cannot agree...

BHVR never discloses killer/survivor names before their release and I think it'll be pretty dumb to do it this time around.

    It'll ruin the fun.

It'll definitely be Unknown + Somebody else as the pair.

Now, who the killer/survivor will be is the next question.

Yun-Jin's involvement just doesn't seem feasible to be the next survivor... sorry.

  • For survivors:

    More with totems tbh.

So that more survivors actually do totems and not run pass them.

    For killers:

Short blinding per hit sounds cool.

So that killers get more opportunity to chase a survivor than losing sight.

  • Those usually come with proper releases.

I think it's to prevent confusion whether the character is out or not.

Not all DBD players know about PTB.

A smart move IMO. My first though was: the Survivor is named Yun-Jin. But as @Kolossoni said, she could be not that important. I love those teasers which make us thinking and discussing.

Yeah, I had chills crawling up my spine.

Hearing it in your own language really does spice things up for the listener. Immersive to the best.

BHVR is really taking this chapter to a whole 'nother level.

    Bravo to them.

Sounds pretty interesting! I hope we'll know soon if you were right, but I love the idea.

Yeah, it's pretty cool if you think about it.

    The man also says: [인터뷰] λ‹€μ‹œ μž‘μ•„. ν•  수 μžˆμ–΄.

meaning: Re-schedule the [interview]. I can do it.

I think it's this time where he would be taken by the entity and never to be seen again.

That's why he's "unknown" while Yun-Jin is named already. She's not important to the plot.

  • Ohhhhhhhh snap.

I think I may be on to smth guys.

After hearing it once more, I found one part quite interesting.

νž˜λ“€μ§€λ„ λͺ¨λ₯΄μž–μ•„ κ·Έ 날은 = The day might be hard for you

This dude is definitely involved in the fire. I'm guessing his GF or someone died in the fire that he cared about.

He erased it out of his head all this time and is now semi-cynical about the whole thing, trying to make it seem he's over with it.

Maybe the dead person (GF, sister, whoever younger) haunts the social medias pretending to be alive yet some how will end up facing the man once more in the realm...

    OR

The person has gone missing (no bodies found or smth) and she's actually been taken by the entity!

If that's the case, I have no idea who the killer would be... maybe the perpetrator?

I personally find this a little cliche tho, not gonna lie πŸ˜…

  • @DeadHardMan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1984249#Comment_1984249

If the survivor is male, then who is the girl in the blue outfit?

    Absolutely no clue.

    It's definitely NOT Yun-Jin.

Her position, tone and attitude does not sound anything close to the blue outfitted figure in the pictures before.

I'd say she's in her mid 40's at least.

She uses no slangs nor does she use honorifics to the man, who I think is younger than her.

I'm throwing out that the male could be the survivor since we literally know nothing about the dude yet he had survived things before. Just my two cents.

My pleasure, fellow DBD player :)

  • To add a little more detail from my previous post, I hear:

    Interview - 인터뷰

    Studio - μŠ€νŠœλ””μ˜€

    Fire - ν™”μž¬

    I think the male is a celebrity/singer.

He had a fire incident the past year, but doesn't seem to mind it as much as the lady does.

The woman is a lot older (judging by her voice). I think I recognize the VA thought... not sure...

The male AKA unknown sounds like a survivor of an incident, hence I think he might be the new survivor...

  • Okay, I'm Korean so I'll clear things up for ya'll.

The woman is in the higher position here. I think it's the man's manager or smth since she says: 쉬도둝 ν•΄ meaning: rest for that day.

This is written in a demanding tone and you don't usually use "~ν•΄" unless you really want that person to do as you wish.

The man seems like a oblivious one who doesn't seem to remember any of the past events since "무슨 νŠΉλ³„ν•œ 날이야?"/"Is the day special?" sounds very annoyed.

He also says everything will be okay and that the fire will attract more crowd suggesting that he wants all the attention available.

Hope we get more in the future :)

    이거 생각보닀 ν₯미진진 ν•΄μ‘Œκ΅° γ…Žγ…Ž

  • I'll take Annabelle, Chucky, hell even the Puppet Master in place of any of the FNAF animatronics.

Spending precious license opportunities to some insignificant waddling animatronics from a cheap horror game seems pretty lackluster.

At least the ones I mentioned are iconic and pretty well-known.

Killers only excel versus solo survivors either a) in lower ranks or b) if they are memeing/ playing for fun.

Usually, in higher ranks of play, killers are destroyed even solo queue. The killers that are too op without reason (excluding nurse because of skill cap) being Freddy (not powerful in high ranks) and spirit (very little counterplay). Others have counterplay and can lose solo queue games.

Unless you are a god nurse or spirit, your gonna lose almost all games against a semi decent swf. A good swf will still be winning 1/2 their games and a tournament swf will win90% . So whilst 3/21 killers are difficult to deal with as survivor solo queue, the other 18 cannot do anything against swf. Swf is way more problematic

And that's the fault of SWFs... how?

You do realize giving incentives towards killers who verse SWFs not going to really change anything right?

It's like a killer with OP perks and OP addons.

Do I like it? No. Is it fun? No.

But is it part of the game that is inevitable and must be accepted nonetheless? Yes.

If killers are incentivized for versing SWFs, then solo survivors should get it too.

Solo needs to get a 10% speed buff if 3 or 4 in the group are SWF

Solo needs 25% boost to recovery speed

Solos need 25% more BPs for playing a match with SWF.

  • There are plenty of killers who excel versing Solo-queue survivors.

They complain and are told to work more as a team.

The best team ever to be made, SWF happens and killers complain saying it's too hard to counter them.

So what's the solution for survivors?

Try and work as a team as solo queues (AKA headless chickens) or not play as a team in SWFs altogether?

Someone needs to stop crying here.

Because a character may be LGBT+ but people saying the next chapter is themed to the LGBT+ is silly

It may be part of both characters lore, but again it's not LGBT+ themed it's clearly music or sound themed.

If you're gonna act like I'm homophobic then I cant help but laugh

    I dunno.

The whole title "LGBT" AKA "Lesbians, Gays, Bis, Trans" screams recognition to me. Why else would you name a movement?

You don't see something like "SHMF" AKA "Straight, Hetero, Male, Female" anywhere. (I know this is not real, but for argument sake.)

It's clear that LGBT movement or pride month celebrates the theme of being openly gay.

Why are people so sensitive about calling a specific chapter in a game that focuses on someone being gay?

    Is that illegal or smth?

Or must we pretend being gay is a norm while LGBT and gay rights have been the hot issue for the past century now?

I mean, you can't have the cake and eat it too.

Either openly celebrate it and recognize it or don't discuss about it since it's the norm.

    @KolossoniΒ

All your points are Invalid. FNAF animatronics bear have ALWAYS been musicians, and yes you are right about being behind a monitor, for the EARLIER GAMES.

FnaF released there final trailer, the same day chapter 19 teaser came out. On top of that the gameplay has changed, and you play as a LITTLE KID, and get chased by the animatronics, you are not behind the security monitors.

Here is the video shutting EVERY single one of your points down right now.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BY9-jWQQHgw

    Then go play that game.

If it is the same old "chase-me-till-you-catch-me" sorta game, what's the point of copy & pasting it in a similar game?

I think the reason is the same with Jason not showing up is because Friday the 13th: The Game is literally DBD on another platform.

And to your point about the animatronics being "musicians" *pfft* I laugh as I use that term.

You really think Freddy Fazbear playing some saxophone (or whatever he plays) in a kids restaurant relates to Mightee One Entertainment with hashtag μŠ€μ›© + ν”Œλ ‰μŠ€ + ν™”μ΄νŒ…?

Seriously, I'm Korean so what does Korean writing have to with FNAF? Huh?

Grow up and learn to accept the truth. FNAF is NOT chapter 19.
