  • This community? Overreacting? Never

  • Reasons why I don't like it:

#1. If I see Four Flashlights, I'm not going to want to play Hag or Wraith. If I see 4 Medkits, I'm going to want to play Plague. Item usage by survivors often determines what killer I want to play.

#2. Survivor Names. "MoriMeMyers" gets what he asks for. "BoopTheSnoot" gets Pig. That's fun for everyone tbh.

#3. If I see the same group of survivors a second go around, I want to change killers so they aren't facing the same thing every round. Probably less likely to happen once crossplay comes across.

  • If they last second switch to keys, it's not like you're going to be able to swap killers in that time anyway. Personally I don't like not being able to change killers, but I don't think that's a great argument against it.

  • For the most part

Meaning they didn't want to change what he could do, just give him limitations. They still wanted him to be able to quickly traverse the map, zone out survivors and instantly down them. And he can still do all that.

  • Hatch is fine. Keys are a problem, but hatch is perfectly balanced otherwise. It prevents the game from going on too long, and it gives the last survivor a chance to escape rather than just disconnecting. (After all, if there's no chance for escape, why bother continuing to play at that point)

Yes, there's still the problem of survivors being super immersive and refusing to do gens. But the solution is not the often-touted "Stillness Crows" solution which is unfair to survivors. The solution is that if no survivor has been hooked or hit, and no gens have been completed for 6 minutes the killer can go into the basement and power the exit gate themselves. This STILL gives Survivors an opportunity to escape, but also prevents them from holding the game hostage. Six minutes more after that without a hook/hit/gen completion, survivors themselves can go into the basement and use the same mechanic. (This prevents killers from keeping the game going too long)

  • Switch, Mid-Atlantic.

Killer times can vary between instantaneous and 5+ minutes.

Survivor times are much the same. Really depends on the time of day.

    PS4, Mid-Atlantic

Survivor Queue times are a bit longer than the switch, while killer times tend to be shorter though I've had a few long waits to play killer.

  • So killers get punished for NOT slugging for the 4K? And they get punished for mercy? Not to mention if the last survivor just happens to find the hatch.

  • Congrats! That's a LOT of BP.

  • "If DCing means you win, why didn't you DC as soon as the trial started?"

  • Killer: The Culprit (Persona 4)

    Survivor: Rise Kujikawa (Persona 4)

  • Pig's usually. At least the ones that let you boop the snoot. Any that don't are fake pigs.

  • They shouldn't increase the time. That's incredibly unfair to people who experience issues with the game outside of their control. Instead, I think players should receive reputations, and if you DC too often, you get a bad reputation and get put in a type of bad sport lobby. You stay there until your reputation improves. DC penalties give up to 1 hour of timeout. Reputation would be based mainly on how often you disconnect from matches vs how often you finish matches.

  • I know I'm not a great survivor. But I'd say a lot of people overestimate their skills.

  • For video games, I want a Parasite Eve Chapter.

  • Gen speed is okay. The real problem is the lack of gen pressure killers are able to exert at the beginning of the game.

  • I think it needs to be more than a simple "Slowdown gens until the first chase" thing. Because that doesn't really fix some of the problems with the early game such as lack of pressure. It just makes survivors hold M1 a little longer, and doesn't really help killers who get into their first chase, and their first chase lasts long enough to get gens done.

  • These "Please Validate Me!" topics are getting kinda old. But I guess at least it's not another NoED/DS topic.

  • Tunneling is necessary? That's news to this red rank killer who goes out of his way not to tunnel!

  • This is the idea I always see floating about that makes absolutely no sense. It doesn't mitigate the issues with SWF vs Solo. All it does is make friends playing together wait longer for matches. I mean you might as well just ask the devs to not allow friends to play together at all at that point.

  • Tunneling works against inexperienced survivors. They often don't know how to handle it, or they don't have the perks to handle it. (Lemme just pour 1 million BP into Bill real quick to get Borrowed Time... then hope the survivor I actually want to play gets it in the bloodweb sometime soon...) But against experienced survivors, you'll find it doesn't work that well. I mean you're free to play however you want. But if you tunnel, then don't complain about DS or BT or any of the second chance perks survivors have to mitigate your strategy. Don't complain that a survivor hopped in a locker after you tunnel them off hook.

  • Your teammates should've done gens, and the killer gets 1 kill. Everytime I notice proxy camping, I do gens and nothing else. Three escapes = a loss for the killer.

Well I dont know what theyre doing as it hasnt and most likely will not be revealed.

That said i really dont think its all that complicated. All they need to do is rank your skill level up or down based on whether you win or not and grant more or less ranks depending on the skill of your opponents. The better players will win more often. The more of tgese skill rankings they have the better. We know theyve already been tracking peoples skill rank for sometime now so predicting the outcome of matches based on those skill ranks should be working pretty well by now.

The real question is if thats what they did (and we'll likely never know for sure) then what do they consider a win.

    That's a good question.

I play extremely nice sometimes. Usually after I've 2-hooked everyone before the first gen is done. What exactly constitutes a win? Is my MMR lower because I play nice? Do the survivors have higher MMR despite being 2-hooked at 5 gens? Does the game take into consideration what was played? If Huntress uses an Iri Hatchet, is her MMR raised less than if she used no add-ons? What if they bring a Mori? What if the survivors bring a key? Or if they find one? Killer gets 1 kill, survivors get the hatch after finding a key. I mean it's probably good they can't accurately measure skill, because matches would be kind of boring if the best survivors all got teamed together, and there were no weak links. But there's a lot of factors involved that I don't think they can count for. Including the kindness of a killer, or in some rare cases the kindness of a survivor who wants to give the killer ONE kill. Will survivors just start to hook suicide to lower their MMR? Or does the game account for throwing a match?

  • Lack of early game pressure will lose you the game a lot of the time. Devs are working on that, though, I think. 4 minutes 30 seconds isn't even that fast for gens. Assuming that two people are working on gens, and it takes 30 seconds to get to each gen:

    80 + 80 + 80 + 30 + 30 + 30 = 5 minutes 30 seconds.

  • I booped the snoot. The Pig was very nice and found me the hatch. I've also had my snoot booped.

  • Do we even want an accurate MMR rating? I mean like Scott Jund says -- do we want games with no weak links? Where everyone is about the same skill level? I mean it sounds good in theory, but in practice? I doubt it'd be much fun.

  • Nah, survivors should be able to change. Sometimes you just see there's 3 Nancy's and you don't want to be the odd one out.

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

I think its strange people are upset by this. The only thing thats changing is you have to pick your killer prior to searching for a match. It seems like you can still change perks.

My only recommendation to tge devs is to lock items for survivors while theyre at it, maybe 30 secs before match starts.

When I see a survivor with the name "BOOPTHESNOOT" I want to play Pig. That's just how it is.

I ask myself that too, also, why no crossprogression for xbox and ps4?? Instead, do it on the steaming pile of ######### called Stadia, c'mon, I'm sick of playing on switch and would love my data on my One, I still wonder those questions.

I'm also tired of playing on Switch, but want it on my Airplane PS4. But BHVR isn't to blame on this one, it's Sony and Microsoft. Hopefully they change their mind. On Switch skillchecks are way harder to hit, and the game doesn't run as well. And there's no Freddy. But it'll take me a LONG time to get back everything, not to mention a whole lot of money. (I mean I don't mind supporting BHVR. I've bought Pig and Leatherface and Myers on two consoles JUST to support them, and because I do enjoy playing them. Much love to the devs for trying for crossprogression on those consoles).

  • Survivors get Kindred + WGLF

Killers get BBQ + Fire Up.

    I'm a mad man.

  • This almost happened to me last night. Had survivors three gen themselves VERY badly. Like I could walk between all three gens in eight seconds or less. Sadly, two of them had keys.

I’ve never heard of a killer lobby having a long wait before. They’re normally almost instant for me. I wonder why it’s like this on Switch? Also, does the game run smoothly on Switch? I’m thinking of getting one and if I do, I might get DBD.

For me it varies for how long the lobbies are. Sometimes survivor lobbies take some time, sometimes they're instant.

The game runs okay on Switch. Compared to PS4 the skill checks are way harder to hit, and there seems to be a slight delay from input to action. Like on PS4 I can regularly hit Great Skill checks no problem, but on Switch I can barely hit Good Skill Checks sometimes. Frame Rate is also bad I think, but I'm frame rate blind so I can't really tell.

  • So far my experience is a bit different. But I come from Switch to PS4 rather than PC.

Admittedly, I haven't made it very high as killer yet -- but I still regularly face Purple/Red Ranks. The toxicity levels are a little lower than on Switch. Granted that may be in part because I'm a LOT better than I was when I started on Switch. I've had maybe one guy who teabagged after a pallet. I get a lot more Disconnects. (I truly hope they feel embarrassed dcing against a lower rank killer) I found that if there's ever a "Make survivors DC" challenge, that all I have to do is play Freddy.

Haven't gotten any negative messages yet, but time will tell. None of my killers except Leatherface and Myers have more than one perk. I did get two red ranks who brought keys to a match. I forgot to look at them, but since then I've always checked what percent people have on their trophies to get an idea of what rank survivors I'm going against.

  • Why would an SWF run 3 Objects? If they're on comms, they only need one. If they aren't on comms, Object isn't nearly as useful unless they offered a Midwich Offering. I agree the perk definitely needs more drawback though.

  • They need to build the game to make it feel like 7/8 hooks feels like a win for a killer if the balance is to be closer to 2 kills/2 escapes.

  • At least your perks are pretty solid. I'm Rank 16 on PS4 and regularly get matchups that look like that. Luckily I've got a lot of experience, but the lack of perks is hurting me.

I play on Switch and so yeah I understand. We don't have a messaging system cause Nintendo said that they wanted to maintain a family friendly console and messages can open up bad doors if a person is an adult predator. Friend requests are done by friend codes. So I am saved from toxic messages, but I can't congratulate others either.

You can friend request without friend codes. I've often sent friend requests to players I've played with on Switch.

  • I just got the PS4 version. Would be nice to be able to transfer my Switch data to PS4 because everything responds better on PS4 than on Switch. Plus PS4 has Freddy, and I really want to play against/as Freddy. But I also really don't want to have to grind everything up again. I unlocked EVERY perk in the game except Freddy's (minus Blood Warden, which I bought from the Shrine). Hopefully Sony will decide to approve cross-progression before long.

Wouldn't be surprised if it never happens though, cause Sony is super stingy.

  • On Switch I can't play Freddy because he's unavailable.

On PS4 I can't play Freddy because everyone DC's whenever they see him.

  • I've got a bit more than that in, I think, and I still suck at looping. You don't have to be good at looping. find something else you're good at. Sometimes running in a straight line is fine.

  • *watches them have Adrenaline*

  • Lullaby should start with 1 token. That way it at least has a chance of getting some use from the beginning of the match, instead of being cleansed before you get your first down.

  • Parasite Eve

    Survivor: Aya Brea

    Killer: Mitochondria Eve

    1. Killers should not change powers so drastically. Legion could use a slight buff, but I think his power is pretty good.
    2. Pig's mori is fine. It's short and having the entity summon something would look pretty weird.
    3. DC's shouldn't be punished more harshly. Especially since they can be accidental or the game can kick you.
    4. Jason would be awesome. He's got a standing invitation. BHVR will add him as soon as they can, I think.
  • If a killer has devour, just rescue the survivor as soon as possible. You see them booking it, you save fast. I think it's an awesome perk. And I'd rather see it in a match than NoED. At least with devour, there's the off chance we run into it before the match ends. And the killer can't just camp and get an easy win.

  • Underrated Survivor Perks:

Empathy (When your teammates are injured, you can find them pretty easily and heal them. Also get healed yourself if necessary. Also, if the killer hurts your teammate, you'll probably know where they are. 128 Meters is INSANE range)

Detective's Hunch. It's Deja Vu, only useful. You can use it to prevent NoED or even to prevent a 3-gen situation.

Breakdown. Makes it a little harder for the killer to put you back on the hook if they down you as soon as you're saved.

Dark Sense. You can see where the killer is each time you finish a gen, and know which areas are safe.

Kindred. Maybe not too underrated, but one of the best perks in the game. Gives a LOT of information.

    Underrated Killer Perks:

Agitation - You'll almost never fail to reach a hook with this. Saves a lot of time.

Franklin's Demise - Even before the buff, making survivors drop their items is pretty strong because survivors love their items. And you don't have to bring the perk if you see no items.

  • @TraitorousLeopard said:

HUD indicators for each survivor's hook stage. Both as Killer and survivor, I'll get thrown off in a match because I mixed up which hook stage someone was on. Ironically, this has the biggest impact on trying to play nice as Killer- If I'm winning, I'll try to get everyone to 2 hooks before killing anyone, but a lot of times I'll mix up similar survivors and wind up killing someone earlier than planned. It would also save everyone that awkward moment at the exit gates, where you see someone being carried to the hook and everyone just stands around waiting for the hook to see if they're dead or not.

This happened to me. I started farming with these survivors after some time because they offered cakes, and I was walking all over them. I wanted them to get some more points, so I went to hook this Meg who had been AFK for a while. But I did so where her teammate could get to her easily. Unfortunately, earlier in the match she JUST barely reached stage 2 and died. I had even showed her a crown so she could get it. I felt SO bad afterwards that she died, but she still sent me a friend request.

  • BNP isn't nearly as bad as Styptics. Styptics are way more annoying. I mean BNP's suck if there's four of em'. But one styptic will ruin my match.
