As to the adding of m&k support, it ain't ever coming to console. The reasons given were it would take way too long, be way too much work, and also require a UI overhaul as well.
Microsoft has official support for it, so for the Xbox it is simply adding the API. The same is true for PS. The switch would be the most difficult as far as I am aware they don't have any support for it in their tools. Therefore no it actually for most of them is some work, but not something actually difficult for most of the consoles... they even already have mappings of what should control what due to PC. The statement it is hard is outdated as Sony and Microsoft have both released API tools to developers in the last couple of years.
As for an UI overhaul? Euhm you realize that PC has the UI already, it is literally already created.

Except it is? The survivors have no reason to delay in their escape, it causes less pain. The killer is the one who services the entity, not the survivors.
Sorry to inform you, but survivors are brought into the realm by the entity just as the killers. A killer can depip with a 4k, as the entity wants to feed off the emotions of its victims. The pipping system is the entity telling you how you performed in feeding its hunger...
-
You are here to entertain the entity, escaping is not your objective.

Then fix the game.
A small difference is fine. The amount of ######### Console players have dealt with is unacceptable and completely unfair.
I am not the developers, I am not against them fixing their product. Yet that is not a problem with crossplay. Or are you claiming Switch versus PS5 is anywhere equivalent?
Console players have it bad, but don't act like each console is identical or what not. Don't want to deal with differences... opt out. Cherry picking so you can choose everyone that has it worse than you to avoid others that have it better than you is selfish and egotistical boosting of your own playerbase at the expense of others and not a solution.
Crossplay is to bridge the community and play together, not a means to boost your selfish needs.

What I want is for BHVR to fix their game. It's unlikely that they will.
In the mean time, I'd like to be able to choose to play against every platform.
If I want to play against them, I check a box, if I don't want to play against them, I don't.
That leaves the choice up to the individual and allows for greater variation in crossplay.
At best, it's much better than our current system. At worst, it's the same.
I'd really prefer to have the game fixed though.
Even if they optimize the game and fix some of the glaring issues simply stronger machines have more FPS, etc. They cannot ever remove all advantages as more GPU, CPU, RAM, faster internet even... all create differences.
People will pick platforms that are lesser than their own, the more powerful potential if a machine the less they will be picked. Potato PCs are a thing, but everyone assumes they all play on super gaming rigs. You claim it will be better or the same, but that is a false fallacy as it will negatively affect others disproportionately due to human biased behavior. Console vs PC war mentalities, elitism, etc.
Crossplay is about inclusion of others, not a manner where you can apply your elitist beliefs.
-
Ok... yet now what, stand there for 40 seconds babysitting one gen while it does not regress? If you have pop just let it end and not use it?
What exactly are you supposed to do with the information?
-
Try playing killer where you actively ignore people you see to try and find someone that is out hiding and could be anywhere on the map... see how you do?
Killers simply do not have the luxury of deciding who they go for specifically, they tend to aim for those they find and know where they are.
What you are actually asking is why aren't killers slugging the third person to find the fourth to make sure they don't get away... the answer to that usually is because they don't mind if the last survivor gets the hatch.
-
Map offerings are already a nuisance, no need to have that on steroids. Survivors have 4/5 chance to get their specific map... no thank you.

I just want to be able to pick and choose who I plqy against.
I don't really want to play against PC or Switch, it's unfair.
I don't mind playing against PS4 or Xbox players though.
Euhm a double standard is being used here. You have the advantage on a PS5 versus a PS4 or Xbox One. Yet now that is all of a sudden "fair". See how your picking is biased and such a system will disproportionately affect specific platforms? You claim to not want to play where disadvantages are in play, yet have no issues including less powerful machines that are at a disadvantage compared to you. Either you claim to want an even playing field, which is provided by opting out or you embrace the inclusive nature of crossplay.
If you want options, ask for mouse and keyboard support.
If you want better optimization, nobody will disagree with you on that.
If you want elitist picking rights... no.

You can't expect people to be okay with that.
There should be options.
Why? You want an even playing field or only one where if anyone is at a disadvantage it is your opponents? Because that is what your options would do! Either accept that differences between platforms are a thing and accept those that are worse than you or better than you or opt out. No cherry picking to only be the top dog, because you find it unfair if others have better gear than you. Because if that is unfair to you, it is hypocritical to demand the option to have an advantage over others.

I'm opted out and my queue's are fine.
I don't like playing against people who hold a massive advantage over me due to no fault of my own.
There is nothing wrong about opting out, as I said make your choice. If you want to have an even exclusive experience that is what it is for.
Yet the feature of crossplay is about including anyone on any platform and not cherry picking who does or does not suit ones criteria and only selecting people that they have the advantage over, as that is the reality of this request. Either accept some people have advantages over others, including the OP because a new gen vs a switch is also a big difference with inherent advantages or opt out and play within the associated ecosystem which keeps it equal.
-
Pip quicker ... meet people that will crush you because they are better... yeah that will help them quit playing killer.
Make it more fun, less stressful, more enjoyable, etc. Will make people play killer not ranking up and experience more pressure from survivors popping gens left right and center, better loopers, etc.
-
Crossplay is about inclusion of others, if you don't like it turn it off and deal with what the queue time is without it. If you want to be some elitist, some type of exclusive club and tell others they are not welcome don't use the feature. It isn't meant so you can cherry pick who you think you have advantages over, to include them but then whine that others with other machines have an advantage over you and leave them out. Either you accept everyone or you opt out.
-
It isn't the fault of the killer that your teammate D/C, that the game then tips into their favor is not their responsibility to counter it. Report the player that is ruining your fun, instead of putting that responsibility on someone else!
-
Define what you mean by high level players?
Top 0.1%, 1%, 5%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%...
Where is the cut off point?
People like talking about this as if the choice is the top 100 people in the world or everyone else...
Balance should be strived for the higher experienced players, yet more in the ballpark of top 30% of all players than the top 1% that people talk about. For a balanced approach you need enough of a diverse group, but also one that actually knows how the game works.
-
The higher levels of play are simply determined by the survivors. Yet for a general public match, this level is not really seen even at Red ranks as these teams use mainly KYF.
A couple of the survivors also uploaded their perspective and showcases a level of communication, team work that is never really matched in general play. Though yes, if survivors are good and more importantly work well as a team they face little opposition.
This is a 4v1 game where individual skill matters, but the true determination of survivor dominance is their teamwork.

If the grind is the only reason you play games...
Most people play games for fun. The grind is ridiculous and limits the potential of the game, discouraging to new players and a detriment to variety. I bet the game loses more people due to the absurd nature of the grind than it retains.
-
Games are not just about the end result, you can win and feel that it was a bad game or lose and feel like it was amazing.
Did you have agency as you indicate is a big part of it. Get a 4k at 5 gens or 0 gens with both gates 99ed are very different games while both are wins. Both might not even feel as good as stomping isn't even necessarily great either.
Just try and remember that capitalizing on mistakes of your opponents is also a good play on your end. Sure it might be that they messed up, but you also punished them for it.

I play both survivors and killers so I probably have a better understanding of what toxicity might mean. face camping on the 1st hook is toxic. if you disagree that's fine. Tunneling specifically to get rid of 1 survivor while ignoring EVERYTHING else, is toxic. again feel free to disagree.
I play both sides as well, you are simply judging the playstyle of others. Even the developers have stated that these are tactics, not very good ones... yet tactics nonetheless. Guess pallet camping or insta dropping shack pallet is also toxic? People are simply trying to win, sometimes they make good choices or bad.
You are doing the one thing I stated is actually toxic; calling out and telling other people how they should play.

Where did I say I wanted less people to play killer? Stop acting like a victim. If you or anyone else doesn't like game, why play it? Genuinely. Why are people playing a game they don't like? I get frustrated with DBD and take long breaks. Or I play killer to get dailies done, or just to try something else. I do not force myself to play a game that I think is "stressful." So why do you killers do it?
And my queues have been instant lately, thanks!
How is pointing out the fact that you are actively telling people to NOT play a role playing victim? Who says they are forcing themselves to do so?
Don't deflect your ideology on to me. I already answered those questions.

Totally agreed on this.
For the killer side, face camping, tunneling (only chasing 1 survivor at any cost to get them out of game) and hitting survivors on the hook I consider toxic.
Yet you are calling out people for the manner in which they play... if you agreed with me then you would not classify camping or tunneling as toxic. It is simply game tactics.
Smacking a survivor on the hook is the equivalent to tea-bagging for survivors.
At least be consistent in your analysis on what is toxic. If BM is acceptable from one end, then it should be acceptable on the other side as well.

I am not in the habit of explaining metaphors. All I ask is that you reflect on the meaning.
The meaning that you believe someone that has no choice in the matter is a proper analogy to you making up excuses for your behavior that you choose to do.
You state to reflect on the metaphor and only want me to see the part where they mean no foul, yet that is because they have no choice in the matter is kind of a large part of it. Empathy is shown through the consideration of others and the choices one makes. If one has no choice, you cannot blame them for the actions... yet you have a choice, you in your analogy have all your fingers and decide to flip them off.
I fully understand what you are saying, yet you should reflect upon the words you use. Refusing to engage in the discussion is just poor etiquette.

It's not my habit to explain metaphors. I'd just ask you to reflect on it.
Maybe you should reflect on what you are comparing. Like click away or tea bag all you want, but it is a choice you make and not one created out of a necessity based on limitations.
Your own agency isn't trumped by anything here.
-
@van9684 If most people would be playing killer, why are survivor queues worse than those of killers? You are making an assumption here.
Why do people play killer; because it is all about that chase, it has more variety as each killer is different and has its own unique power, the idea of being the powerful entity slayer seems cool
You claim to have played killer but find it to easy? This makes no sense at all nor any proof to be provided. Nor do any of your arguments indicate a fraction of killer experience at all. Those that play both sides are way more understanding of the shortcomings of both sides, while all you post are one sided bashing. If you are so good, put out some tutorials, because I have much to learn.
It isn't playing killer that makes most people angry, it is the entitled survivors that believe they can complain about how you play... while at the same time feel that they can do what ever is necessary to win.

Euhm... I guess you have no other option than to spam control or click that flashlight, no choice in the matter at all?
-
@akanadi said:
so many people consider people who tbag and click as toxic survivors but personally i dont see it as toxic
i see tbagging as teasing or celebrating because they did something in their favor
and clicking as "hey chase me" its the funnest part of the game but just ignore them, like they didnt win because they were toxic they won because you threw the game chasing one guy
but what i consider toxic is actual genrushing not oh i chased one guy for 3 minutes and 3 gens popped im talking 4 bnp prove thyself ect which rarely happens
95% of the time i see someone say toxic survivors or omg swf OP its because they played bad but thats ok everybody has bad games
If you simply clicky clicky, no issues. If you macro it so it spams it... my ears, toxic.
If you tea bag, no issues. If you have to wait at the exit gate for an escort... meh, but just leave.
If you use the best stuff in the game to win, not toxic either... 3-4 min games are boring as hell, but uuh.
Additionally whether something is OP or not doesn't have anything to do with toxicity. SWFs are extremely strong if they are somewhere at the same skill level as you. You don't need a tournament squad to prove this to you, just survivors that communicate with each other and are somewhat in your own skill range.
Calling people out for how they play in the end-game chat, telling them to uninstall the game, telling them how bad they are and worse... now that is toxic.

2 bad at chase survivors<<<<<2 good at chase survivors. 1v1 matters a lot, since the skill in this game is detirmined by how long you cant entertain a killer, while your teammates repair gens. sure, you need teamwork and etc. but almost every game is just 1-2 survivors getting chased while 5 gens are popping. most, not all
The 1v1 matters but not as much as the 1v4 aspect of the game.
I don't know what your point is, the fact that you indicate that a killer must be good versus a semi good survivor, indicates the whole strawman excuse you use. Just be better than those you face, be a pro in comparison. You assume that some of the survivors are worse than the killer, but that just highlights the issue with your argument.
In a game it shouldn't be a requirement to outclass your opponents, if.they are at a similar level that should be enough to have a good game.
-
@sensovsky said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2291610#Comment_2291610
also, you don't always have 4 good survivors, 1-2 of them are usually weaklings, just find and kill them fast, no matter how good the rest too are, it's pretty tough to win with 2-3 gens left while only 2 people left. it's not that hard, do I really have to explain this?
Use the advantages of having a team and you will have all 5 gens done and escape. This is not a 1v1 game, it is a 1v4 game... ofcourse the 1 will have the advantage in the 1v1. The individual skill of a team is less important than their teamwork.
Do I really need to explain this?
-
@sensovsky said:
just be a better killer and 90% of your problems are solved. if you don't wanna invest time in being good in the game, you don't have to make threads like this. it's widely accepted that good killer>default swf. not talking about competitive groups or depip squads, they're pretty rae and consist of that 10% I've mentioned
If you outclass your opponents then sure all your problems are solved. This is such a strawman excuse. Good survivors are Rare according to you, but you know killers all have to be pro...

Can you read?
Both sides do things that are not fun for the other. How is it one sided, based on your responses in now multiple threads it seems like you are one sided. Play both sides and then you might start to see the nuances of the game. The two sides have opposing goals...

It is extremely frustrating when people act childish or complain about the silliest things, certainly. Indeed, it can make the recipiant to wonder what the point is in being nice for future matches.
You do have the choice of how to respond, though. Whether it's to act the same way as those who have done this to you, or to treat each round as a separate experience. The issue is: by acting out against opponents you've not played before, those people could well have been trying to play nice like you. In fact, they are you in terms of behaviour, and you become the role of those who were dicks to you. Therefore, you become just like those you didn't appreciate before, which in turn makes you the problem for those, who feel then they have to act nasty to other nice people.
It's a constant cycle, but the more people give in to annoyances the more they pass on destructive behaviours. It's not survivors who are the key reason. Neither is it the killers. It's the individual's reaction which is the key reason. Ergo, anyone who decides to act a certain negative way because of how people act are the key reason.
Tell me how do I identify a survivor that is trying to play nice? Because frankly I have only seen it once! In a game in which I was being clapped so hard it was embarrassing.
I am not acting as those that acted that way against me though, I am not bad mouthing in the end-game chat to the next group of survivors that I meet telling them that they are filthy gen-rushers or anything. I just stop caring about giving them any slack and just play to win my own game. I stop caring about the game of others and purely focus on my own. The point I am making is about the words people use at the end of the match, those that like to complain about the playstyle of others afterwards or here on the forums about the tactic used by killers. The conversation rarely has any nuance to it, it is all thrown into one pile.
Those survivors that are awesome and wholesome are that to me regardless of how I play, but they are few and far between sadly enough.

There's nothing wrong with trying to win, but at the end of the day, it's important that both sides have fun.
What if the killer's fun is in winning as efficiently as possible?
What if the killer's fun is trying to win at all without being a god in comparison to the survivors that they face. That is the only criteria that is upheld in most cases: Never camp, Never tunnel, Never slug! Regardless of the situation, you at 5 gens or 0 gens with 99 gates, you better leave that hook!
The irony is that it is important for both sides to have fun, but I rarely see any survivor doing anything to hold back to ensure the killer has fun.
-
I am fully aware that mindlessly applying these tactics will not guarantee you a win, frankly at red ranks it will most of the time actually cause you to lose in my experience. Never stated it would either. I do learn quite a bit from applying them to be honest, it is a means to apply pressure when used at the correct times and extremely efficient as well. People always tell me to apply pressure, but they only want me to apply it a specific way. Getting people further in a hook stage is pressure, having multiple people near each other on a hook near 3 generators and controlling that area is pretty immense pressure; I can let the other gens fly as I can simply hold that position and get people to either die or advance into second stage on the hook. Defending all 5 gens isn't feasible.
You can get a 4k without tunneling or camping, but you will make your life significantly more difficult if you let survivors get away with things unpunished. I am not some godlike killer and expecting me to be one that is perfect at looping, etc. is unrealistic. I am not speaking here of simply downing a survivor then just doing nothing but camp or tunnel. Yet if I allow them to get these freebees... to then be insulted at the end, why exactly should I care about their fun? I am also trying to have fun, yet even when I let survivors get away with free unhooks in a situation where it is not really beneficial at all for me to do so... to then be called a camper and a bad player because I let go of the gas, let them recover and then lose the match, but you know at the end game; 0 gens, gates 99 and I get someone on a hook... I am supposed to just walk away? I should not try and do my best to get some kills?
Killer queues aren't suffering, I rarely have to wait at all even at 2 or 3 in the morning.

my suggestion is to simply fix the camping issue. as a new player, I can tell when someone is camping, and camping honestly is fun to no one but the killer.
Imagine that the killer, a human is trying to have some fun.
There are many things survivors can do that isn't fun for the killer.
In the end it isn't on your opponents to make the game fun for you, go play killer and play as you preach and go find out how fun that is or how the survivors act towards you...
The community teaches you as a killer very quickly to stop caring about the fun of the survivors.

@Kalinikta What is the point of this thread? Another pointless vent session? It's an online game and most people are apathetic to what anyone else they're playing with has planned...have you been under a rock for the last decade? Killers are jerks to Survivors just as much, so quit with the pointless finger pointing because it does absolutely nothing but strengthen the wedge.
Is this a vent? It is me pointing out that if survivors were to actually want killers to consider them, they should consider who they bash at the end of a match. That not every camp, tunnel and slug situation is the same.
The discussion around the tactics that survivors tell you not to use rarely receive the nuance it should. If you bash someone always, they stop caring about what you have to say. You create killers that will apply the tactics at 1 gen or 5 gens since for them it doesn't matter... they will be treated just the same so why should they care?
-
@letumeur no offense taken, I play at red ranks consistently and it is less about the game balance as when I sweat I tend to do quite well. There are teams that beat me, even ones that are clearly not 4 means if they play well or I don't make the right choices when it comes to dropping chase, etc.
@oliviaa you state it hurts me? While a brutal killer or merciless are all the same to me most of the time. Once you hit rank 1 what does it matter. Usually when I apply a tunnel or proxy camp or a slug at the right time it will guarantee that I don't depip, while if I play nice if they play well the likelihood of a drip increases.
@VexTheHex it isn't about mindless using these tactics, I didn't even state the killer that I was playing and does that really matter. Who states I believe I am that good? Part of my argument is that I am not a 6k God killer and so using any type of snowball and pressure available to me helps out.
@van9684 it is not about how they played though, it isn't whether the survivors were clicky flashlight, teabagging, etc. Or the builds they used. It is the words they use after the match, even when they win.
@Kaitsja actually proxy camping, tunneling slugging are exactly tactics that will make up for other mistakes I made or allow me to snowball out of control... why do you think killers do them? How is it that I am promoting toxicity by applying pressure on the survivors and trying to win? It is my fault when gens fly and didn't play well, but it isn't the survivors fault for not protecting their teammates? You realize the get good analogy goes both ways, as I have faced people that you can proxy, tunnel and even face camp and they will get their teammates out of the situation with good play.

Question....
Why do you care what other people say?
Play in a matter that pleases you - that's all that matters.
If you want to camp, do it. If you don't want to camp, don't.
Trying to please the fickle randoms you go up against is just going to lead you to frustration and disappoint.
It is more of what behavior do people want to encourage. Why care? Well that is my point exactly; Survivor's state that we should care about their experience. Yet it rarely matters what behavior I show and the treatment is the same, just because I try to win. Therefore I stop caring and play as effective as possible.
That is my point... survivors drive killers to stop caring. It leads only to frustration, disappointment and desensitizing.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I dont think I quite understand tho so maybe you can explain. So you're saying that there is a difference between unlocking Dwight's perks and them being available in other survivors blood webs as opposed to unlocking Trappers perks and them being accessible to all other killers blood webs? They dont work the same? The killers arent also just skins once you've unlocked a certain killers teachable perks?
No killers aren't just a skin, they have a unique power. If you want to have multiple builds on multiple killers, then you need to not just unlock the teachable perks, but also level each individual killer to have all the perks. For a survivor they can grind the teachable perks, unlock them all on 1 of the survivors and now you can play survivor with any potential build.
Survivors don't have anything unique to them other than their visuals and sounds, while killers are very different in how they play, what they can do and even vary in speeds based on their power.

That’s why I change how I play on a match by match basis. If the survivors are playing a bit more coordinated I will tend to camp and tunnel more but if I can tell they are a bunch of solos I’ll ease up
No point in being treated bad for 2 games and letting out your rage on a bunch of solos who did nothing wrong
Who states I am raging, I simply stop caring... if I am always going to be treated the same way, why even bother trying to make an effort and not just go for a win. The wholesome survivors tend to be cool either way.
It is great that you can 'test the waters' so to say in order to figure out if they are a SWF or solo's... yet I for one don't have thousands of hours in the game. I am not punishing anyone... just when if I get the opportunity to snowball, you either grab it or you don't. Keep in mind I am trying to actually win and be effective, therefore I will use the tactics when they hopefully make sense. You cannot just mindlessly camp, tunnel or slug and win. I have no guarantee that I will be presented another opportunity, especially if the team I am facing is semi-decent as I am not a seasoned player, I have 350 hours... ish and not even all in killer as I play some solo survivor as well.
I see a lot of complaints here about tunneling and camping, yet rarely any distinctions being made of when it happens, what the situation was, etc.

Survivors complain that you camp, tunnel and slug without any consideration of the situation that the killer is in and when they do it or the fact that they didn't do it earlier when that would have been the sweatiest move. Camping at 5 gens or during the end game... you get pretty much the same treatment. Win with 4k or lose with a 1 or even 0k and get the same treatment.
It is not about the fact that I lost the match, it is about the manner in which I am treated afterwards. When I go out of my way and lose the map pressure I am told to get good at, by allowing the survivors to get the unhooks uncontested... but still try to win and might camp, slug, tunnel in the end game... it is all the same. Survivor's expect you to not just be nice throughout the match and give up pressure, but escort them out at the end game without trying to maybe get a comeback.
It has nothing to do with being mean. I tried being nice and gave up pressure, not try hard to much, as a killer and get treated like garbage anyway. So... why should I not just always do the best move regardless?

Because they need incentives to get people to play more killers?
Additionally survivors technically can purely get the teach-able perks and then level up 1 survivor, as each survivor is technically just a skin and once they have 1 survivor maxed out with what they want they can play any build they want etc. While if you want to do the same with multiple killers... you are in for a hell of a lot bigger grind?

It should be easy in one action:
- Stun the killer
- Recover a health state
- Deny a hook state
Yeah... no... it is difficult, because the reward for achieving this is really good.

Aah I remember those days not that long ago couple of months, be happy it is in your benefit and averages out when you hit green ranks that is when the real fun starts... the system will flip and you are wondering why you are dealing with red and purple ranks only.
Just focus on your gameplay, eventually you will hit rank 1.

As survivors just pressure 2 gens at once or all 3, if as a team you played smart and avoided the 3 gen, as that is dependent on the survivors... you should have no issues getting that last gen done even against pop.
Else play a game of ping pong the killer between the 3 and if they commit just W away from the area.

Punishing killers for taking to long on downing a survivor? Hhmmm... you know like gens being done and most of them escaping? Didn't you state that they are throwing the match for one person and therefore the end result is a loss. Is that not repercussions for you know throwing the game?

People do not want to just use a single build or a less optimal one or a less meme one all the time even if they can win with it. Games are about fun and part of the enjoyment is switching up your build, add-ons etc. You cannot claim no restrictions are in play on the gameplay you experience by not having the add-ons or perks. The grind is mandatory if you want to be able to play the game without restrictions. The fact that one cannot play in the manner that they seek without spending thousands of hours is ridiculous by any standards. Having some grind is fine, most people don't mind it... the one in DBD however is off the charts demanding.
I am a gamer that enjoys trying out new things, having a variety in game and all that. The fact that I am unable to do any of that is a detriment to the potential the game has to offer. I want to be able to play more than one killer and I want to be able to play these killers in different manners and builds/add-ons are how you achieve this.
The grind is mandatory if you want to be able to enjoy the game to its full potential. Games are not just about the end result, it is the enjoyment of the match.
