I don't run WoO because it'd be using a perk slot for knowledge/sense I already have. It's true it will tell me what pallets have already been used, but to me that uncertainty is kinda fun, and I feel like I still get more value from whatever perk I'm running that would have been used on WoO.

I just don't feel like I'd benefit from it all that much, and all those yellow auras are just a bunch of visual noise I don't need.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3568976#Comment_3568976

My counter might be that NTH doesn't make itself obvious to everyone right away (unless they are running Distortion, which I think everyone should be in the current meta). And lots of people run Calm Spirit thinking it counters UW (it doesn't).

It might come down to personal preference, and for me (I can only hear out of one ear and directional audio is only mildly useful to me) I just prefer NTH. That said, I often run both, lol.

I have developed an unhealthy relationship with NTH, though. It has gotten to the point where I feel slightly handicapped without it, which isn't good.

I find WoO of opportunity annoying too and I already run Bond, so I wanna avoid running 2 info perks at the same time.

True, but on high mobility killers I don't think it matters, cause you can catch up to them, on stealth killers it might be a bit counter-intuitive but I have seen it being used on Myers and even Huntress. I'm beginning to see it a lot more often, just not with the DMS combo yet, but usually with other aura reading perks, which I think kind of defeats the purpose.

I would assume NTH gives you some free hits with unsuspecting survivors hiding close to a gen, that's why you're addicted to it.

it is because ultimate weapon is not tremendously outshining other perks. bbq & nowhere to hide are good enough aura perks to not need ultimate weapon. killer do not value blindness at all. if they do, they're likely using knock out. DMS is not outshining pain res, pop, eruption or pain res, jolt, sloppy. it is at least equal for corrupt & deadlock.

    ===

WoO is outshining other perks but the reason being is that it provides crucial swf-type info on your teammates pallet usage. you can get by without WoO but then you have to do some guess work whenever your teammate get chased and assume certain pallets are being broken based off killer TR and where survivor got hooked. many player don't want to do that guess work and run window of opportunity instead and then there is player that run windows because... they're new and they're learning the game with pallet spawns.

UW is better than Nowhere to Hide and Lethal because it does their job while taking up a perkslot and not being countered by Distortion, it's that simple.

The only reason you probably think it's mid is cause not everyone and their mother is running atm.

But this is the same excuse people used to give about old Eruption, that it's actually not strong and maybe it's problematic when run with Call of Brine and even then you had people defended it saying you can actually counter it etc. etc.

I personally think it'll become a problem in the future.

Saving 8sec of healing sounds nice in concept, but its not.

Usually Boon Coh stays away from Gens, example we have this unhooking position.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/DZDI3NHHZ5Q1/image.png

Without using Boon, 2 survivors lost 47sec that not spending on Gens (assume 1 dash line takes 1 second to run)

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/GT2HURAEBLW7/image.png

Using Boon, 2 survivors lost 55sec not spending on Gens, this is not even counting 14sec to bless

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/0VN28339QEH6/image.png

I saw too many survivors run to Boon to save 8sec, but actually they lost much more time.

When everyone was running it, it was hell if the killer had Eruption + other gen perks. You would probably lose all progress you made on a gen by going to heal, since on solo you didn't know where the gen with the biggest progress was.

I think CoH was a way to bypass the whole slowing down gens things, since you could potentially have infinite healthstates, and I think it also incentivized survivors to make bad decisions trying to get value out of it, instead of prioritizing gens for example.

That's why it was probably so OP, because in a 4 man SWF that somewhat cares about the game, you can have one guy running a boon perk and everyone can heal fast themselves and the other 3 can double up on a gen for example (if there's 1 or 2 left and killer is trying to 3-gen), but on solo it could make it easier to throw games, because people were convinced they had to boon a totem everytime CoH was snuffed.

  • Why are BP per category capped anyway?

matchmaking has been changed, and nobody can convince me otherwise. far too often im getting sub 300 hour players in my lobbies.

Just for a perspective, I have done every single achievment and tome challenge done, be it killer or survivor ones. So I guess that I know all kinds of challenge this game can throw at you. Ace's Journey 2 still gives me nightmares, as does Evil Incarnate. Oh, and don't get me started on Outbreak Breakout. To this day I give survivors on RPD a free door opener, unless they went out of their way to play as disgusting as possible.

Evil Incarnate is notoriously difficult though but I still don't wanna get killed at 5 gens. I got killed first last week by a tombstone Myers, didn't have any lockers close to me :(

Same I bought her and I swear COH got nerfed I don't know when I stopped playing in November 2022 and came back properly in May 23 and I wasn't sure if my game was broken and then I realized it was nerfed.

I must have taken the same break as you (I stopped around early December and came back in Spring I believe). I mean I still love Mikaela cause I love witches, but yeah. her perks are kinda underwhelming atm. I'm not sure I miss CoH though, I thought it was kind of a boring style ngl, but perhaps it made solo a tiny bit more bearable? I am not so sure. When i used it the most I was even more inexperienced, so I don't have a correct frame of reference. I do like the idea of boons though, I just wish it was easier to hide them and they weren't such a time waster on solo.

  • @Nazzzak said:

Any Means is about resetting loops, Alert is about knowing where the killer is, and Windows is about knowing what pallets haven't been thrown down or destroyed. I don't use MFT, so can't speak on that combo, but I think the sudden popularity of WoO has more to do with solo queue getting harder to tolerate and players feeling like they can only really rely on themselves now. I've been playing for 3 years and for 2.5 of those years I never even considered WoO as part of my build. It had zero appeal to me. It's recently become a staple, I use it often. I can't say exactly what has changed, as after 2.5 years I've got alot of map knowledge up my sleeve already so it's not about that.

I've also theorised before that the recent cutting down of pallets in map reworks may be playing a role too. When there aren't alot of pallets to begin with, and alot more dead zones, people want to know in advance exactly what they have to work with.

Your last point I feel holds some truth and I feel it's also the reason killers get even more frustrated because they're hoping to catch someone move to a deadzone (now that there are more than before) and down them there. If they bring WoO that becomes harder to take advantage of, it's also why they hate SWF, because SWF offer a lot of info about what is going on, but killers wanna deny info.

It's also why many were annoyed survivors were not healing as much after healing nerfs but slammed gens instead. When they asked for nerfs they were hoping it would indirectly mean slowing down the game, but when killers bring Sloppy Butcher, it makes healing effectively unreasonable.

This might be shocking, but i´m a survivor main. Killer has become way to stressful for me. So i rarely play killer and just play survivor most of the time. Because survivor is more relaxing. Even as solo.

So i repeat, why is survivor so relaxing in comparison to killer? After all, a bloodthirsty killer is trying to kill them. Survivor should be anything BUT relaxed.

Because you probably played killer trying to prove something to you or anyone else. Obviously it feels worse if you have 4 people bullying you in game as killer and you're helpless, and those games stick out. but so many killers imo here have a hateboner for survivors and are indeed trying to prove something. And the game gives you no outlet to do so in a healthy manner (say ranked), which would enable you to relax playing killer in a casual mode if DBD had both modes (competitive and casual), so your alternative is to play survivor duh. Isn't that why you changed? That's what you just admitted.

Go read any LoL learning forum and there will be a ton of posts of people afraid to play ranked and suffering from stress or anxiety when they get into one, but that's a somewhat controlled environment, because everyone is expected to try hard there and the matchmaking works the majority (except when smurfs are involved) of the time unlike DBD's. So a lot of killers are playing this role as if they were to play ranked (if it existed) but play survivor as if they play casual game.

Ranked in any game is pretty stressful because you're getting judged in game, by yourself and your teammates/enemies which is true for DBD as well. At least in DBD you cannot be judged afterwards cause there's nothing to show atm, unless you're one of these people who are super competitive and have to take everything seriously. In that case I cannot help you, it's self-inflicted. Your biggest enemy is yourself.

Also because you have resorted to playing survivor (not so much out of choice but out of necessity perhaps), doesn't necessarily mean you are not more invested in the killer role. Your points to me sound majorly killer biased despite you playing survivor atm. I've seen killers way less biased than your posts (not trying to start anything tbh, just writing down my perception). It kind of comes across as "I'm not racist cause I have x friends from this ethnicity, but...(proceeds to point out only the negatives of that ethnicity)".

I agree re Nightlight, but the community at large seems to feel it's accurate enough so I've given up arguing the point.

I personally don't think that hackers should play any role in determining whether a perk is healthy or not. I couldn't imagine calling killer aura perks, for example, problematic because hackers like to use them to cover wall hacks.

If BHVR were to ever take hackers into account when making decisions around perks, you can bet killer perks would also be on the chopping block. There was a killer gen hack last time (possibly still around, it enabled them to basically set their own regression %) that many used gen regression perks to cover up. Does that make Pain Res, Pop, Jolt, etc, unhealthy for the game? The majority of the community do the right thing, and the game shouldn't be changed to accommodate the bad behaviour of a minority.

Maybe if survivors had a perk that showed regressed gens' progress (like maybe if they reworked Rookie Spirit that is mostly useless atm), perhaps we'd have an easier time detecting those hacks.

People always seem to assume that us killer mains only play killer. AFAIK the killers mains who exclusively play killer are exceedingly rare and most of us play a good portion of survivor. I play between 30-40% of my time as survivor, so the survivor role ain't "new" or "exciting" for me anymore then killer, yet basically everyone besides a couple of outliers seems to agree, that playing survivor is way less stressful, then playing killer.

Being a main already gives you a role to care about. i don't say they don't play survivor ever, they simply play it under different circumstances. They may play it for challenges, for dailies, for the incentive, or after a day of stressful killer games. Many killers do admit they don't care about escaping but they care about kills when they play killer. So that makes it fundamentally different. It removes the stressful part of survivor basically. What else is there to do really? Isn't the main objective of the survivor to do gens and try to escape alive?

If you played killer the same way you might find it less stressful as well, why are you obligated to try to do killer's objective but not survivor's objective?

  • I somehow have seen a lot of Knights, which I thought was an unpopular killer as this forum used to say a year ago, but he seems pretty popular the past 6 months.

  • Because you play them more rarely and maybe don't feel as judged if you play bad? I am still amazed we have to explain to people that playing a different game after you've been binging the same game for 7 days in a row will make you find the new one more fun in comparison and not feel as stressed. It's common sense than when you work you need a break for at least one day (even if it's you "dream" job) but w somehow believe playing a game daily without any days off at all should still make you as happy as it did when you first started it.

  • Tbh that nerf did a lot more good to survivors than bad. Other exhaustions are way more reliable and they don't have to rely on a killer having an acceptable ping. DH was fun no doubt, but many times it failed cause the ping was bad and you can not see the ping in lobby unfortunately.

  • WoO is good when you're playing solo and majority of survivors are solo (I think as high as 60%), which would make sense they wanna run self-sufficient perks like WoO and MFT.

I mean I still play against killers bring 3 slowdowns whose entire plan is to whittle down the resources, that is super hard to deal with as solo survivor. you either have to bring a counter to slowdown/3gen perks or have a super strong early game so as to deny any advantage and chance for them to snowball, and that has not been hard to achieve in a while, especially for killers with decent map mobility.

Players will naturally gravitate towards least challenging playstyles.

UW isn't just an info perk, it's a 3 in one perk. it's an info perk, a disrupt perk and can be a slowdown perk with DMS. It can also be more efficient than bringing other aura perks like Nowhere to Hide or BBQ and Chili. It's also a great counter to solos in general since they rely a lot on aura to find their teammates (I bring Bond for example), and it can easily deny the perk you're complaining about (WoO). No need to be this biased. The only reason you don't see many complaints yet is because people are too slow to adopt it, or maybe cause it has not been in the Shrine yet and some people don't wanna pay money for a single perk that comes from a licensed killer. Let's see after it's added in the shrine and once high mobility killers start running it how annoying it'll be.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3568581#Comment_3568581

Yeah, thats a big reason. You cannot really afford to run Boons in Solos, but in a 4 man-SWF you can have one person with a Boon-Perk and coordinate way better.

I just really dislike Boons because nowadays, whenever a Boon is set up, it is always a waste of time. And when CoH was still used frequently, I also disliked it and did not think it was that good, because CoH does not do anything if you die regardless because the team is not on Gens.

I know, that has been my experience as well. I remember a very specific game in Sanctum of Wrath I belive (or maybe Yamaoka estate). I had not even gained 1 single devotion yet. I was playing Cheryl and Mikaela is off to find a totem. I start getting chased for a while and I go down because I come across Mikaela still looking for a totem who bodyblocked me from passing.

Mikaela's are either noobs or super selfish (except me ofc :p)

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Because Boons are a failed concept. Except for CoH, every other Boon was outright bad (with Shadow Step being borderline okish). So I am quite happy to not see any more Boons nowadays, Survivors very rarely get good Perks and a Boon-Perk would most likely mean that there is another terrible Perk around which would only be used in Adepts.

And even CoH is now really bad and they should have just kept the state of it before the most recent Nerf and make Boons work on one Floor only.

But currenty, there is no way the time investment is worth anything for any Boon around. You cannot really afford to spend 14 seconds away from Gens in the current Slowdown-Meta and especially when you are not in a SWF, having more than one person running around setting up Boons is almost already a loss.

Unfortunately Boons are one of those perks, that is a waste of time for solo, and pretty viable in a SWF. Which is really sad. I remember buying Mikaela for CoH, but I still love her. And that boon actually incentivized me to learn some totem spawns on maps, so I would not waste too much time looking for them. At least that knowledge is good for bringing Inner Healing which is a decent counter for Sloppy Butcher.

  • To be honest it's very annoying when they're playing gen control and you don't have the necessary tools to break it.

I had an awful game a few days ago where Blight had gen regression and the map had the nastiest 3 gen (you could locate it from the start). 3 gens were in the circus park of Crotus Prenn Asylum really close to each other.

But I'm not sure about 9/10 games being a slugfest. I'd say about half the killers I meet slug for the 4k. The other half just hook the 3rd survivor and leave it up to chance.

  • I've unlocked all the stuff I could unlock so far. But i did put in quite a few hours the first 2 days the event started. It'd also help if there weren't this many server crashes.

    Agree!

I think hens posted a video about a killer player cheating in a tournament?

I feel like there arent many perks on killer that make it hard to see if they are cheating. Maybe play with your food?

I saw that vid as well. Sometimes I do feel i see suspicious things from killers, like knowing where to go immediately, but I dunno if it's just game sense.

Sometimes I also got a very weird game vs Hillbilly, where me and Cage were healing and then he just came from behind us but had no terror radius and I thought he had Tinkerer, but actually didn't. I wish I'd saved that game to analyze it and see if he had some specific Add-on.

My gameplay were simply going for at least 1 protection hit and getting the hell out of the way to heal.

In a situations when killer, after a protection hit, going after me, I consider as unfortunate and trying my best to prolong the chase as much as possible.

You know what, 2 charges for a down is a pretty good and healthy idea for such perk. I consider going down for your teammate as a very bold, but very "Chad like" move.=)

Yeah, I mean most of the time you also end up getting hooked, so it's indeed very bold, but sometimes it's what you should do if your teammate is on death hook.

    I love you. Good job.

Mom is one of those perks that you hardly find use of especially in soloq, but when you do, it's so satisfying.=)

I'm still using this perk on a tanky build, it actually won me decent ammount of matches, this perk alone.

I just bring Inner Healing so I can be self-sufficient and Bond because it's pretty good when solo.

For me the hardest decision is knowing if you should go take a protection hit, or keep working your gen. And MoM is kinda countered by insta down killers and right now everyone is playing Myers cause of the days.

I wish if you took a down for someone it actually gave you 2 charges or something. it feels so hard to get 3 protection hits and not throw the game.

Funny how this perk makes subdle cheaters harder to find out.

    Same with Hyperfocus.

It's also funny how all the posts are about survivors cheating cause it's much easier to tell than killers' subtle cheating, unless the killer is blatantly obvious about it.

i know why. it is because the perk is hard-counter legion. you see, every time legion hits someone, his aura becomes revealed so if you saw legion, you could perfectly plan out the route where legion can never get 5 hit combo.

what prevents perk from being effective is 32 meter limit. perks that hard-counter core components killer powers are often put with drawbacks to make them not do that or straight up do not work(e.g No mither countering Oni's demon fury by not dropping blood, Yui's Lucky break perk), Small game & Trapper.

That would require you already are well spread out, which isn;t always the case and most games on average people are still grouping up against legion and doing gens in teams, plus a lot of maps are smaller than they used to be and the other maps are getting even smaller, which is indirectly a buff to Legion.

  • @Shroompy said:

To me it just looks like (possibly) MfT and you swinging too early

Also there are going to be tones of Survivors moving faster considering the event has a bunch of stuff that increases movement speed.

Sometimes I get scared people will think I'm cheating when I'm zooming with background player lol.

  • @Caiman said:

Not a fan of map-wide aura-reading but its range really needs a boost, bump it up to 48m - 56m.

On a side note, I also want Self-Preservation's range increased too.

Inner Focus seems like a perk that would maybe benefit solo survivors. SWF already gets its info for free, so it being mapwise doesn't really hinder the killer much. The only thing it would succeed in is maybe give you info on who the killer is when your teammate gets injured, since not every killer is recognizable at the start.

And even in that case it would still be super weak imo. Bond is way better compared to it, and the aura reading doesn't last long enough to maybe help you position for a flashlight save. Actually bump at the aura reading to 10 seconds perhaps.

Those two changes would definitely improve it a lot imo.

  • I think I got it on my second try or something, completely randomly. I say just play and deposit energy and it'll come along.

  • I don't think Inner Healing is considered niche though? It's a pretty nice perk if you're playing solo and it bypasses Sloppy Butcher which is pretty common. I think what makes Overzealous niche is the fact that you get hit and lose your speed, despite wasting time to go find a totem and cleanse it, and totems are finite. if you could get back your charge once you get healed or something, i think it'd be in a good spot. Inner Healing doesn't lose its charge if you get grabbed from a locker while it's healing you. Something similar maybe should be also true for Overzealous, or make it lose its gen repair bonus on down instead of on injury.

On top of that, you'd have to do some math to calculate if it's actually gaining you time or wasting you time. Like it takes you 14 seconds to cleanse it but the perk only gives you 10% repair speed, which isn't even 10 seconds. For it to be worth it, you'd have to take out 3 gens or more with one single cleansed totem, which imo isn't realistic for solo survivor. Instead, if killer had hex totems then you'd gain twice the speed, which would make it worth it but niche, as killers running hexes aren't all that common and you'd need to find it first before someone else. I'm saying all this cause I've run this perk, it's a cute little perk, but to get optimal use out of it you need a killer who has hex totems imo. Again this is all for solo survivors, in a 4man SWF someone else can be the bait and you can be the designated gen person.

So no, I don't think Overzealous can be made consistent cause it's mainly a perk that relies on a killer build for maximum and worthy usefulness, and if someone is bring a hex build they're not bringing insane gen control perks, so you don't really need the repair speed lol. When you need the repair speed (dealing with 3+ gen slowdowns) you can't usually get its maximum effect.

Clairvoyance weakness is that it doesn't show you the aura of the other totems, so you're stuck between picking Clairvoyance for hatch aura or Small Game for totem locating and keeping track of how many are still up. I've run Clairvoyance too and honestly, I've gotten use out of it (for hatch that is) few times. i run it when I'm doing treasure hunting builds with Ace's perk that gives you better items from chests etc. so I can find the chests faster. Compared to a perk like MFT, Sprint Burst and even inner Healing, I would not call Clairvoyance that reliable in general, unless you're playing a completely selfish solo build with sole survivor and wake up.

Then there are perks like Rookie Spirit that needs an update because it's downright bad, not even niche. If it halved regression by half of a gen you touch for the next 60 seconds or something, it'd see a lot more play for solos as well.

It's just that niche perks for solos are actually a lot better in a co-ordinated SWF, ex. Power Struggle, Deliverance. So nicheness

yeah but if I load up on blight I'm guaranteed 30k as long as I dont throw lol. super uneven.

We're saying the same thing though, that as survivors you don't get enough BP even if you well.

But as killer you'll get more BP than survivors majority of time.

Cybil Bennett is the most pay 2 win character in this game from my experience

    How so?

    Well yeah i agree.

I did math last week for how many shards i need for all my cloudette skins (i have like 50 out of 110 or something) and it came out taht i need 330k iri shards to get all of them, which is terrible considering ive got 4 or 5 main characters xD

maybe double amount of shard you get for lvling or decrease price of the skins?

BHVR doesnt make a lot of money of off those skins anyway, no one buys aurics for old skins if character is not licensed.

I would assume whales get skins that way, since they probably buy those skins on release when they are available only for aurics, as well as to avoid grinding for them.

If i'm not wrong DBD players probably have quite a bit of disposable income as the game isn't ftp so I would assume the base playerbase is different than say the playerbase of games with an ftp model (say league etc.) as well as probably being older than the demographics in ftp games (a lot of teenagers and kids).

We definitely need to be gaining more Iris per level, no doubt. But it wouldn't hurt for dailies to award 100 iri shards per daily mission.

agreed, I dropped my all rounder build in favor of a more support and utility oriented one because soloQ teammates can group up to heal or coordinate risky plays. Its deli, we'll make it, empathy and mft though Im considering switch it out for SB since the 10s endurance doenst often come into play, which was the main reason i chose it for this build. My healing points are hella good but everything else is absolute zero.

You could do 4 gens and escape and you'd get at most 20k. It really sucks that you can reach max points on a certain emblem and not get anything extra after that point.

  • How can you gain BL if you stop to use your weapon? Maybe that's what you were doing and couldn't catch up to them? Using your ability power I think stops you from gaining BL, as well as slows down your movement speed. If you just followed scratchmarks you'd catch up to them at some point even without BL cause killers have higher movement speed than survivors.

Also you aren't mentioning if this happened before or during EGC, which could mean they had brought Hope + MFT.

buff survivor bp in general. Its not fair that I, the killer, can get a 2k/tie and still have like 30k while the dead will barely manage 10k regardless of anything they contributed to the escapees.

Tbh, if you specialized in one thing as survivor (doing gens or being in gens all game) the BP gains are abysmal.

In the past, Claudette and Bald Dwight were the two main characters who provoked killers.

Right now, it's overwhelmingly Rebecca and Kate. It is a characteristic of provocative players that they satisfy their own lewd desires in this way.

That's really not what the topic is about...the description says it's about what survivors you play make you feel skillful or noobie.

I thought it was just me haha if I'm having a bad day I'll play Thalita, Nea, or Jake because I swear my games go so smoothly with those 3.

Maybe we internalize survivor stereotypes. I can't possibly play Leon and run the killer for 5 gens.

lol this sounds like some fudging with numbers. Why should we mix all the escape rates?

The game should not be designed so there is no difference between SWF Comp play and regular SWF and SoloQ.

bHVR should take the middle section of MMR skill expression and then check that portion for SWF and SoloQ win rate difference.

It's not me mixing the escape rates...unfortunately BHVR isn't that transparent with their stats and makes things difficult.
