Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but is that infinite myers with tombstone? If so, did you ever even need to hook anyone?

YAY someone else who gets it.
I eye roll at how often posts on these forums mistakenly use proxy in place of proximity.
The only killers in the game that can camp by proxy are Hag, Trapper, Demo, potentially Freddy if the hook is near a gen, and to a lesser degree Huntress.
If most people understood what I meant, the point is still getting across. You understood what I meant even though I apparently used the wrong word.

What you just described is just camping. Proxy camping is camping using a proxy. This means a killer doesn't have to be near the hook at all as long as they have something near the hook doing the job for them. So think trapper trap or a hag trap. The killer isn't there but the trap is so it's camping by proxy.
I always understood proxy Camping as patrolling near the hook but not directly face camping.

Sometimes it’s hard not to linger around hooks. A lot of times I’ll spot a healthy survivor soon after hooking and I’ll start the chase but if they are bolting to a dead zone with no gens etc I see absolutely no benefit in committing to that chase and I’ll turn back to the hook. Often you can find yourself crossing paths another person going for the save and if you’re lucky they’re still injured.
Another situation could be that you have 2 people hooked basically right next to each other or one hooked and one slugged.. it makes perfect sense to patrol the area aggressively since at least one survivor is pressured to make a move into your territory.
A pet peeve of mine though is when I hook someone and immediately notice that someone left fresh scratch marks and then starts stealthing.. a bigger peeve though is a healthy survivor unhooking and then immediately going into hardcore stealth mode leaving the injured person at the mercy of the Killer.
This, this I agree with 100%. I may sound scummy by saying this, but I will still down the freshly unhooked survivor, but I won't hook them again, I will begin searching for the healthy survivor that left the injured one at my mercy, at least giving the downed survivor a chance to be healed and also giving me value by wasting someone's time that could be on a gen.

@FrootLoops said:
proxy camping when you KNOW there is another survivor there or the team has been super altruistic all match I don't see as a problem. The best strategy as a killer is to keep people off gens. if they are choosing to leave gens immediately and go for the save then you get more out of proxy camping than patrolling.
however if you have no evidence that someone will be along in a few seconds to get the unhook then you are better off patrolling gens. as @Moundshroud pointed out you don't want 1st hook deaths because it hurts your BP+Emblems and makes a very unfun game for the survivor side, but if that's the fastest way to get into a new chase then I say do it
This as a survivor main who abandons gens to go for immediate unhooks. I'm still learning :)
I appreciate your insight :) When I first started survivor I did the same thing. Now, I typically run kindred because I play solo. This gives me the information I need in order to decide if I'm going to unhook or stick to a gen.

After having a losing streak as killer and seeing many survivors with BT/DS/Deliverance etc, I realized that these are all perks that revolve around the hooking mechanic. Knowing this, I decided to never hook survivors until everyone is slugged and/or have the survivors die from bleeding out, because those perks would never work unless I hook them. I started to see more success in my games, but after matches, survivors would start to call me toxic for not hooking them and keeping them slugged the entire match, and it was my "responsibility" to make the game fun.
Although I've been winning more matches for not hooking all survivors until they are all slugged, am I a toxic killer for doing this strategy? Is this a bannable/keeping the game hostage?
Perks I run:
- Hex Undying
- Hex Ruin
- Hex Haunted Ground / Deathbound
- Deerstalker
You're good my dude. As long as you're not holding the game hostage (which you're not) and you're not bm'ing, you're fine. Slugging is necessary sometimes. Survivors get mad if the game is made unfun for them, same as killers get mad if survivors make them game unfun. Both sides will always have a problem with the other.
You'll get to a point when you stop slugging in favor of different tactics though. My question to you is, are these survivors not actively picking one another up?

You do you. Myself, I will camp, tunnel, slug, or Mori if a specific match calls for it. If you feel you should stay in the general area of the hook, then you should. People spend entirely too much time worrying about what they should or shouldn't be doing. The only rules that matter (in my opinion) are:
- Don't cheat, either by hacks or with lag spikes.
- Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
- Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
Everything else is up to you and YOU alone. If you are uncomfortable doing something, don't do it. But be aware that camping, tunneling, slugging, and the Mori are all valid tactics. Nobody should be giving you grief or shaming you for using them. And if there are Survivors here incoming, you cannot by definition be camping. If they don't let you leave, that is on them.
Well said...good points, all of them! Thanks for the insight in your play style, it sounds solid 👍

What would you do better? I think it's hard to find challenges they can't be done in a toxic way.
Never said I had a solution, I simply stated that some challenges can encourage and promote a scummy or unfun playstyle.

I don't understand the problems with the challenges.
No Challenge forces you to play mean. I was using my killers with green moris in the inventory and a random obsession perk (mostly Dark Devotion). After hooking another Survivor I moried the obsession.
I meant it more promotes a scummy playstyle, not to say everyone will switch up their tactics, but I believe a large number of killers probably did in order to get through certain challenges.

You misunderstand my post I think.

This post just seems like a salty person who doesn't like having to play against a good build. If a good combo of perks are available, of course they will be used. Both survivors and killers have crazy good perk combinations. All that being said, everybody knows that with how popular undying has become, it will probably be nerfed because a loud minority of people will scream bloody murder at the devs until they listen.
Sad times.

This challenge is terrible and needs to never return. There’s just too many Survivors that are purposefully trying to deny your challenge when they realize what’s happening. Every Survivor I see tries to pre-drop every pallet they can, avoid them as much as possible, and they will refuse to drop them even if I tell them they can. They’re not refusing to farm because their actions show that they know exactly what they’re doing. I’ve had Survivors who would rather die than stun me while they’re the last one left.
Because I believe in their eyes, they have the ability to deny you something that you want. Those people are spiteful And unhappy with themselves so they have to try and ruin other people's time as well.

And when the killer is simply camping/the hooked survivor is not being hookbombed? BT has one function, and it shouldn't be denied its only use if it's going to take up a perk slot.
So make sure you're awake when you're unhooking and you won't be oblivious. It has counterplay, it just requires some planning.

Sorry for bumping this discussion, but since I only started that particular challenge today, I wanted to share my experience.
Maybe I'm trying to go through it too quickly, but so far my tactics have been 1: equip Rancor and snipe the obsession at the end or 2: tunnel the obsession while using Nemesis, tunnel someone else when they become the obsession.
Neither method is very fun, I feel terrible for doing it. And I'm positive the survivor in that situation has even less fun that round.
Honestly, challenges that aren't master ones and are big arbitrary numbers should be passive if they're like this so frequently.
I agree buddy. I used rancor and didn't even bother trying to get to the last gen being popped, I just used rancor as an obsession perk and absolutely tunneled and murdered the obsession. It's a scummy challenge and the devs should think harder about some of the Tome challenges they include.

You never explained what the rush was.
I want to get the challenges done in a reasonable amount of time with the limited time I have. If you need me to break it down more for you, let me know :)

Once killers get a "murder with buddies" option, we killer mains will be singing a different tune. Don't worry, it'll happen.

@Xbob42 said:
I just played matches until I got it normally. What's the rush?
Personally, I wanted to get this one done quickly because I didn't want to rely on chance that a survivor is running an obsession perk, also, I work a lot and I'm in college so my time is very limited, it would've taken so much longer if I just played matches until I achieved this challenge "normally."

Ahhh, so this is why I have been mercilessly tunneled in three out of my seven games tonight. lol
More than likely!
For what it's worth, some of those tunneling killers probably feel like ######### while doing it. I know I did the first time, so I just started bringing rancor...but then in 3 out of 5 of my games, the obsession dc'd immediately. After that I ran Mori's, killed the obsession and just let the other survivors finish the gens and escape. Made me feel a teensy little bit better. Best of luck in your future games :)

I don't think killers should be able to zone with their power, because it makes the skill of the killer disproportionately responsible for the length of the chase; if the chase goes on for a while, that's much more reflective of the killer playing poorly than the survivor playing well. I think both sides should have ample chance to influence the length of the chase by playing well.
They could address this in a bunch of ways (e.g. reducing his speed in torment mode, increasing the time between leaving torment mode and being able to M1). I don't really have a preference on exactly how they make it happen, and they'd probably need to buff him in other ways if they address this, but I'd love to see changes on that front.
So I don't completely disagree with some of your ideas, but the zoning portion of PH I think is perfectly fair. It has a duration before disappearing, it doesn't injure the survivor, it is fairly easy to avoid, etc. If you use it to make a survivor leave a pallet, I don't think that's unfair, no more than clown tossing a bottle to slow down a loop enough to secure a hit. PH definitely needs a small change to how readily he can hit someone after his great knife is pulled out of the ground from using his power.
Also, to touch on you saying a long chase is more telling of a bad killer than a good survivor, I'd say there is too much nuance to simplify it down to those terms. However, we can obviously agree to disagree :)

Why he needs changing? I’m a PH main and I’ve been calling for him to be nerfed. In order of importance (high to low)
1) survivors shouldn’t stay tormented after being hooked. It should be hook or cage, tactical decision. Not “hook, hook, baby mori” or “hook, cage, kill”
2) survivors should be able to rid themselves of torment or it goes away passively after X amount of time
3) reduction in range attack add ons
4) he doesn’t need a stealth add on to ride waves of torment
5) needs small penalty for faking his ability
As a PH main, I disagree with all but maybe the last one, and even that is like...maaaaybe a small change.
Torment is perfectly fine imo, especially because most survivors will just walk/crouch over it unless you're actively chasing them and at THAT point you can use it to zone them, unless they are so stubborn that they would rather take a hit over being tormented.
Either way, knowing how pyramid Head works makes him fairly fun to counter. Unless people just decided to complain about him without ever taking the time to learn how he plays first, which is just dumb.

So much good news in this! I'm most excited for PH to get changed, for MMR and hit detection to actually get up and running, prestige rewards, and the "bunch" of perk adjustments. I'm excited for the mori and key changes too, but I really hope they don't make keys in particular useless.
Bummer about console lobby chat and not replacing the globe icons, though. I'm also not really expecting them to be able to just "fix" the frame and stuttering issues with a casual patch on Tuesday... I wish there was something more meaty in here about optimization.
Maybe with the character texture updates Quentin will finally get a face buff?
What would you want them to change about PH?

Or because(most) streamers are good at the game even if the killer a compete lackluster?
From average killer PoV his power is a gimped Billy's chainsaw, or even worse.
Sure, that's one way to look at it. Comparing any killer to another kill can be easy though. The add-ons are where a lot a killers strength can come from (not to say that applies to every killer). The blight has some pretty good add-ons, especially since a load of them got reworked before he was released.
Also, again, some people might be good with blight where others might not be. Doesn't mean the blight is bad or unfun.
-
I'd say it's far too early for any conclusions to be made about blight. Give it a week or two of play time and see how you feel after that. Someone like OhTofu wasn't having great luck with the killer where as Monto was doing pretty damn well. Most killers are subjective in their appeal/playstyle. Maybe blight just isn't a good fit for your playstyle?

BM is BM. No sense in comparing how bad a particular case is.
Although I would argue that a killer closing a hatch in someone's face is far more in character, (considering how the entity likes people getting hopeful) than survivors rapidly crouching at the gates.
I mean...it's a game...character doesn't matter too much regarding the different in game killers and survivors. The person controlling them is very much in control of what they're doing. There is no need to tbag at the exit gate, there is no need to bm a survivor who has already lost.
How is there no sense in calling out toxic behavior and drawing comparisons to what the other side is always complaining about? Putting things into perspective can help people understand why it's bad manners instead of just thinking it's funny or doing it for the memes.
-
Playing a guessing game isn't much fun. Also doesn't help that a lot of baby survivors just kill themselves on first hook or dc when they see it's a spirit.
-
Nah man, I play a lot of games where the killer is far enough away, I get unhooked, and the killer would've had to run by my teammates to get to me, ignores them, and just tracks me down. If I get unhooked while in the killers tr or while the killer is right next to the hook, yes, I expect to go down, but ignoring other survivors just to search for the unhooked survivor is bm imo. If there is 1 gen left or its the egc, sure, find that injured Survivor so you can secure a kill, but if there are 3+ gens left and you're still just searching for whoever was last unhooked every time, you're playing like a turd.
-
Killer perk:
Entities Strength: You revel in the survivors terror during a chase, filling you with unnatural strength.
After chasing a survivor for 30/20/10 seconds, Entities strength will activate. While this perk is active and you are in chase, you may break a vault location, making it a regular opening. This has a 100/80/60 second cooldown and cannot begin cooldown until you have left the chase.

Plain and simple, ragequitting is a sign of immaturity and entitlement. Survivors ragequit because they feel they should have won despite making bad plays. Killers ragequit because they feel they should have won despite making bad plays.
Not really the only reasons, but alright I guess? Game glitches and bugs, people using exploits, toxic survivors and killers can all contribute to someone quitting out of a bad match. There is more nuance to it than "people are immature and entitled because I say so and that's the reason".

Noed typically gives bad killers very undeserved kills. Lower ranks are where I saw noed a lot and the killers that would run it would pretty awful. Just how it was and is. Most higher rank killers don't use it because they are actually confident in their ability to chase and kill without noed.

That's precisely what it is..oh also..that's against forum rules..so..if anyone goes it won't be me
It's really not though. It's a bad killers add-on to keep them in low ranks. Same as survivors relying on DS and stuff to survive. Iri head is the sign of an inexperienced huntress. People are fine to complain about it just the same as killers complain about DS. They are both unfun and usually paired with bad players. It isn't hard to run up close behind a Survivor and hit them with a hatchet either, so, I'm not sure how this falls into survivors shortcomings when it's the huntress using iri head that is trying to fix their inexperience with a bad add-on.
-
Tunneling is a lazy killers bread and butter. Every low level killer I see will tunnel immediately off hook. Higher level killers can win without tunneling most of the time. Tunneling killers will probably stay in low ranks, doomed to never improve. Oh well.
