Zero boon totems is still enough boon totems for tunneling and camping. I pretty much just ignore the totems unless I stumble into them AND I'm not in a chase.
Same but it is way too strong. You cannot drop any chase anymore. Playing killer is like a tunnel simulator, there is no mind game anymore, you see someone, never stop the chase or he/she will be healed in 20 seconds top.
-
@SleepyWillo said:
I very rarely see them in my matches and when I do it seems the survivors spend more time attempting to boon totems than actually working on gens, etc. Plus if your run Noed its almost guaranteed to keep a totem alive for it.
If youre struggling so much I think its got more to do with you than the perk...
15 seconds to bless, once you know the spot you know where to go to bless them. Stronger than self-care for the whole team.
2 totems on the map, both far away from each other.
And there are at least one boon, often two in all my matches but i'm playing high MMR.
And seeing how many players are complaining about them everywhere, i don't think the problem is on my side lol.
But coming from someone asking for a DS buff, i won't take your comments too seriously.

@SonicOffline said:
What's impossible about them? I don't have all that much issue.
2 boon totems on the map, try to win a single game with this without camping and tunneling. Good luck
Imagine a killer perks that is a reverse version of CoH = Circle of death :
When you find a totem you can damned it, another totems will be damned as well (as only one killer vs 4 survivors). When damned, any survivor hooked will die instantly till the two totems get cleansed. It would be exactly the same...

Here's the problem. You've arrived in a time in DBD. Where boons exist. Maps are still broken to hell. Gen speeds are still rediculous. Hackers are rampant.
Killer is NOT in a good spot. No matter how bad it used to be "back in the day" At minimum. You basically need to hope a team ######### up hard and let's you slug them out. Or make sure someone is on death hook via tunneling by the time a gen pops(or 2)
So what you get is a atmosphere for killers just trying to do their best to have fun in their own game with odds so stacked against them. Rather it's by face camping with NOED. Or camping you out early and going for that balanced "2k" the devs so desperately want...Even if it means 4 hooks total all game. Instead of 8 hooks(10 total at the end)
You have summarized everything i guess. To make it short :
The killers are playing toxic as the game design is flawed on many aspects.
The killers' toxicity is a result of the global game design toxicity.
If the trials were winnable for good killers without the need of camping/tunneling, most of the killers wouldn't do it.
As the OP has said : it's getting worst. Why ? Because the state of the game worsen with every updates. And it won't stop anytime soon.

Yeah surprised how people just dropped him like that. Was expecting his Horder build would be at least be seen here and there. At this point I probably seen Twins more than pinhead this whole month and I only seen twin once.
This killer is too weak once you know how to deal with him.
He is relying on the box power, power that can be removed way too easily by the survivors.
Even the Hoarder build is too situational and doesn't assure you to get the box fast enough and enough times to have an impact on the trial.
Pinhead summon of pain should be buffed : do not break with walls, up the time needed to remove the chains.
Box should be kind of reworked : once grabbed, if the survivor holding it doesn't resolve the puzzle during the load time, the chain hunt activate, the box disappears from the holder hands and reappear somewhere else on the map after 30 seconds.

Should Bubba be disabled until the Devs can fix this bad gameplay? Ive played 6 games today, 3 vs facecamping Bubbas. If this is how the game is going to be, then Im uninstalling..
DO SOMETHING or this game is dead soon.
Bad gameplay ? Sure it is. And what about survivors, that are OP no matter what, abusing purple medkits & toolboxes ?
They are already OP but no, those ######### need to push more and more and more and then they come here crying about noed... or Bubba.
Devs should disable survivors' items, all of them and you can only find them in chest, increasing the opening chest action to 45 seconds.

Just play Survivor instead. Hit Validation is survivor sided even when the survivors ping is bad. It looks at the survivors perspective first and then chooses a place between them - and that always means a miss for the Killer.
When they could of just made it so the server favors whoever had the better connection.
But why do that? Because then 4 survivors with bad connections would complain - compared to one killer complaining.
I normally play with 20ms, take pride in a high end computer and great connection. Just to be punished by their bad idea of a "hit validation", so I stopped playing.
LOL not at all ๐
Server sided = the player with the lowest ping is favored, period.
And most action are still killer sided...

I play both sides and have fun a lot of time, so I donโt agree with your statement.
Well streamers still playing killers can be count on the 10 fingers of the hands, at any time of the day.
It means a lot.
It's incredible that BHVR doesn't see it, what do they need to understand ?
At above average MMR,
- Playing killer can be resumed by : tunnel/camp if you want to win or get a draw.
- Playing survivor is like : one of your team will be tunneled and camped.
Is it great ? Not at all.

Visa versa also.
If you know 4 man escapes were impossible, why would you even try?
If you're okay with 4K's you should be okay with 4 escapes
If you know you cannot escape*
As a survivor, if you escape is considered as a win even though the 3 others died. So it's different.
A killer getting less than 2k is considered a loose, MMR wise.
But as a survivor, once you escape, you have won points.
But globally i agree, both sides should be able to win and the outcome should be determined by skill which is not the case atm. "Unskilled" survivors that spread and do gens will get at least a draw.
Good survivors gathered together will always win.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Change your perspective on how you react to a 4 man escape. Interrupt your negative thought and question why you had it and where it comes from.
4 people Escaping isn't some freak occurrence that isnt supposed to happen in the game. Valid outcomes of the game range from 4 escape 0 kill to 0 escape 4 kill.
Playing for the win or at least to have a good fight is natural. No one is willing to play just to participate and get stomped.
If you know you have no chance, why would you even try ?
That's how the nature works.
-
The game will clearly never feels fair for both sides.
There are some games that gives you this "fair" feeling even when you loose of miss a shot.
DbD will never be able to do that as it is always unfair.
I mean most chases don't feel fair. You loose time not because the survivor outskill you but because the design force you to loose time for free, without any skill involved, unfair. But same for survivors, sometimes you get hit because you are on a dead zone where there is nothing you can do, unfair.
You get a free hit if the killer is camping th hook, unfair.
3 gens are done during the 80 first seconds of a round, unfair.
The global feeling i have when playing is how unfair the game is.

@AnObserver said:
Yeah, the Hatch change (if that is actually the final version), kinda leads me to believe that they don't understand what they're doing with their asymmetrical "Survival" Horror balance as it makes match outcomes more binary with a more strict "You win"/"You lose" presentation.
Don't get me wrong, I didn't like how Keys interacted with Hatch before (when Survivors were in the lead), but if you had a Key with previous Hatch you had a "well, the Killer is too strong, time to run" option that wasn't restricted simply to the last Survivor.
(Similarly Killers have a "well, the Survivors are too good, time to camp" which unfortunately is being put to use even if the Killer is "in the lead")
During the week end, the vast majority of trials are a camp fest. Killers don't play, they just camp without moving unless someone tries to unhook.
I know they can't play properly as they would loose.
Well everything is broken in this game. BHVR succeeded to fail in pretty much everything concerning the designs.
- bad loop designs
- too many pallets
- too many jungle gyms
- OP jungle gyms RNG spawns
- killer camp = rewarding
- killer doesn't camp = loose
- hold W meta too strong
- many maps too big
- gens too fast
- map control is impossible
- hit'n run pressure impossible
Well the only good thing about the game is the art design, that's all, everything else is below average. They have gathered all the mistakes you can make about designing a game. They have done even more mistakes than TRS did with Evolve.
-
Not playing killer anymore is the only way to not become crazy with the current state of the game.
I love how infinites are still in the game after all those years when two LT loops spawn one next to the other with two safe pallet loops on both side and sometimes a shack near those loops. And of course, another 10 pallets around the map in other loops.
Devs should explain us how you catch a survivor in less than 5 minutes with such a layout, i wait for their expertise about it.
Especially their ######### garbage mine map (and many others) where you have strong loops in the mine, at the shack and impossible loops in the middle. Such a map layout is unbelievable. Honestly, who at BHVR validated this kind of map ? How is it possible ? In a development team of maybe 100 ppl, hasn't there been one individual that has said the map is wrong, really ?

1.) I'm not talking about just one survivor DCs or the killer rage quits, but on average in a given day how often do you get disconnected from a game through no fault of your own?
2.) How many bloodpoints do you lose on a given day from these dcs? (Please try to give a reasonable estimate)
3.) How adversely does this affect your enjoyment of the game?
Not a single time.
Globally it doesn't even happen one time a month. Game is pretty stable for me now. Playing on PC.

We obviously all share the same experience. Sad that BHVR doesn't say anything about it, i mean we are waiting for answers and we want a clear roadmap of the known problems and the fixes the devs will bring. But we have nothing, not a single word about it, they really don't care.

Most of the killers problems comes from expecting win every single time. I agree there are weak killers and yeah it sucks when game ends with 0 hooks, but u miss that right after it u get games with 2-4K easy kills and suddenly it's totally fine and not the reason to complain.
And i don't watch streamers who RQ. It's like showing everyone that u care only for 4K and complain once u don't get it.
Not at all.
Game should be balanced around good killer vs good survivors and the results should end up with 2k on average in this configuration. It's not the case. Having 4k easily is as boring as having 0k because you cannot do anything.
What is fun in a video game is to have a challenge on both sides where both sides can win. Mistakes should be the reason why you loose. Today it's not the case, you can have a perfect killer game and still loose as the game design prevents you for winning.
Survivors have pretty much nothing to do to get easy wins. Start of the trial, spread, sit on a gen, pre-drop pallets to hold a chase for 1 minute+.
Game is already won.
Yesterday i have played in trio Q for 4 hours straight :
- We lost one trial only
- I have died twice (the lost trial and another trial where there was 3 escapes)
- 3 to 4 escapes in every other trials, i escaped

That's not a secret. Even ol' veteran killer main streamers get destroyed when they face top MMR survivors.
Watched a german killer main yesterday called SchwabbelTown. That guy really knows what he's doing as a killer, has total awareness and is always focused yet even he ended up getting rekt often.
Fastest game he had yesterday was 5 gens in 3 minutes and 20 seconds on reworked Crotus Prenn Asylum. That was WITH Ruin/Undying.
In the post game chat a survivor told him to "play better next time".
That's what killer gameplay on a high level has become. Arrogant survivors (because running in circles and holding the action key/button on a generator is so skillful) and killers who basically are there to make the gen repair simulator "intense".
I'm starting to realize why I always face Nurse or Blight when I play survivor.
EDIT: He too played Nurse after that 3 minute match and instantly found a cheater so instahealed, speed hacked, everything.
The other survivors defended the cheater in post game chat saying he deserved it for playing Nurse.
That's DBD.
Just "finished that game". Blight main killer, 1000+ hours on Blight, couldn't do anything he RQ.
Ye game is totally impossible to play.
I cannot play more than 2 killer games as it is totally disengaging and the gameplay is garbage. I cannot do anything with all the killers i liked to play : Demo, PH, Ceno, Blight, Twins, Huntress... well pretty much all killers so what is the point playing while i don't stand a chance ?
Plague is in an okay state atm, playing with her allows some map control and mindgame is a must have. But i cannot play Plague for hours...

Players get better. Mechanics stay archaic.
Exactly. Moreover, survivors' gameplay is really modern, actions are fast, movements and camera movements are great and feels like a 2021 games however, the killer gameplay is horrible, slow, every action has a "vector" movement... It's horrible and feels like a PS1 game.
-
@Yamaoka said:
The devs mentioned they want to do something about camping so chances are the kill rates will drop further which will allow them to possibly add something to the game that slows gen progression down without messing up the total balance.
Right now they can't add a mandatory second objective for survivors because certain killers would just camp at 5 gens and then win at all times with no realistic counterplay.
But once they get rid of camping the devs could do something for the health of killer gameplay.
Ye but knowing BHVR, it will take like 2 years to have some real balance fixes. The game will die before they bring enough changes to improve the quality of life.
I mean, DbD has been free of competition for years, not mentioning that multiplayer games released for 3 years are globally terrible but it's soon over.
How can some players continue to play killer on a regular basis is unbelievable. I cannot play more than 2 or 3 games without being bored to death. Having to sweat the whole game to constate that the only viable way to win is to camp and tunnel is just a bad feeling.
Killer/survivors interaction doesn't require skill or mind-game anymore. It's just super easy as a survivor, impossible as a killer.
But well, no word from BHVR, they might be proud of their product...

All killer mains complaining about that while such things exist should play a Solo Q 3 vs 1 at 5 gens all day.

Ahh yes, the ol' MMR Argument. What's your MMR again? Oh right, you don't know. I don't know my own MMR. I get pretty good survivors. They know how to loop, for sure. Maybe you're just not as good as you think if you need to camp and tunnel?
Or maybe you don't even know what a good looper is.
All high MMR streamers have to tunnel to get their kills. Oh you maybe think you are better than some of them right ?
You have said yourself that you are not that good = not high MMR. That's all.
You don't use slow down perks lol... and you still get 4k, we clearly don't have the same survivors, believe me or not idc.
And we take some killers as exemple, let's take high skilled survivor streamers, with the SBMM you can clearly see that killers are not winning anymore... When all gens are done they only have 4 to 5 hooks.
-
@KingFrost said:
People always say "You have to camp and tunnel!" But I'm not a particularly great player, and I don't camp and tunnel, and I get 6+ hooks every game, usually with at least 1 sacrifice, often 2 or 3 and sometimes 4. (Don't care enough to try to get that 4th man killed. By then, I've won). I don't even run Ruin or Pop or Corrupt Intervention. (Except on lower tier killers like Pig. Those killers need some serious changes). I never view any game as I have to get a kill. My day isn't ruined if 4 people escape. Not even my game is ruined. For every 4-man escape, there's a nearly equal number of times I get 3+ kills.
Sometimes survivors are just better. And sometimes I make mistakes. I recognize that.
If you want to camp and tunnel, that's fine. Your prerogative. Do what you want. But don't act like you have to do it.
Because as you are not a particular good player, you are playing at a low MMR where camping and tunneling is not necessary.
How can you expect to understand how the game works talking about your experience while you know you are not playing at a high level ?
You are facing survivors that cannot loop properly, don't do gens optimally and don't know when to save, heal or do gens... Sure you don't need to camp...

I don't know about french guy, but Tru3 with all his complains about MMR is playing more for fun rather for 4K. If u mute him and watch his game. He is not perfect and don't sweat to win. He is trying to make his games entertaining but problem is his auditory is so huge Ego boys that he has to talk about MMR over and over.
Ye he didn't camp nor tunnel that game but he has played perfectly in chases and map pressure, still he couldn't win.
With camping/tunneling it would have been different but not being able to win when you play perfectly without using broken mechanics is a big flaw in the DbD design.
-
No.
And when playing survivor, i have noticed a huge skill decrease in the killer population. So from what i can see, it's obvious that the majority of high skilled killers have stopped playing and SBMM working as it is matches my high MMR survivor against lower MMR killers as there are less and less high MMR killers playing.
Dunno if my experience is shared among the whole high skilled EU community. Last good killers i have played against were True and a well known french streamer, both lost the trial...

i do in fact play both sides (though with the mmr system being the way it is im leaning more into survivor these days)
as i sit on the hook for the
9th10th game in a row after doing 3 gens then getting NOED face camped i came to the realization that the + or - 1 system is actively punishing me for not only doing my job but REWARDING the killer for playing in a way that is unfun for anyone involved.why the hell does a solo survivor not have kindred and totem a totem counter built in already? or give me 6 perk slots do so myself because solo survivor is THE worst experience DbD has to offer, and thats saying something since killer can be just as bull sometimes but at least the killer isnt actively being sandbagged or punished for DOING THEIR JOB.
And the +1 -1 system will even encourage your teammates to never come to rescue you if you are camped with 2 gens left.
There is no more teamplay but 4 individuals trying to save their own life, not to win as a team. This system then favor selfishness, that's why i see many survivors P0 escaping while one guys i on hook even though there is not NOED.
Terrible MMR choice indeed.

But even though, you cannot reverse my argument. Fact that a top 0,1% killer mains, mastering Blight with 1000 hours on him exclusively is unable to get at least 2k, and get only 7 hooks, just shows how broken the game is.
That's literally 1 game. That doesn't tell anyone anything. A Killer, even if they happen to be a 0.1% Killer, should still lose once in a while in MMR because they're going against 0.1% Survivors. That's what MMR does.
You cannot reverse this argument as you don't know your MMR level nor the MMR level of the survivors you have faced.
You don't know Lilith's MMR either. For all we know, he could be mid-tier at best. Just because he streams and has played a lot, doesn't mean anything to MMR.
In my screenshot, you have a top 0,1% killer playing a tier S killer against high MMR survivors and high MMR survivors won the game. They stomped him even as 7 hooks is a terrible result and the trial has never been balanced.
If Lilith is a 0.1% killer, which you don't know to be a fact, he would be going against 0.1% survivors, because that's literally what MMR does. It puts you against your own skill level. So yes, he should get stomped every once in a while.
Also, look at the stupid perks he brought into the match. Not a single gen slowdown perk or Meta. He literally has a meme build. No Killer would seriously think, "Gee, I should have won that match using these perks".
If he won that match, then that would show that Killers are overpowered. A meme Killer perk build verses 4 survivors all running meta perks. Come on now.
Top 0,1% vs Top 0,1% but the trial is totally unfair and unbalanced ending with 7 hooks... While it should have been more around 2k/10 hooks.
For Lilith MMR, just check how strong he is with the Blight and you will know he is high MMR. If he isn't, no one is.
"It puts you against your own skill level. So yes, he should get stomped every once in a while." Puts you against players of your level but you should get stomped, don't you see the antagonism here ? He could have lost with 1k and 9 hooks, would be more fair.
And the SBMM match you with the highest opponents available. I don't think there are many 0.1% survivors available...

"SKILL" based match making
It's even worst than what i thought lol. So the survivor that got tunneled and succeed to hold the killer for 5 gens is loosing point ๐ while the team has won thanks to his/her looping skill.
๐๐๐
How can someone think such a feature is on point with what is happening in the game ?
-
BTW does anyone knows what happen with the MMR rating for this situation :
- 1 survivor dead on hook
- 3 other survivors escaping
What happens for the one dead on the hook ? Is the MMR given to the team or to the individual ?
I mean it's 3 escapes so it's a win, does the MMR of the dead survivor go up or down in this situation ?

Here's a Tier 1 killer that got 4 kills with Trickster. It must mean Killer is OP and needs a nerf.
Or maybe, 1 example of a game means absolutely nothing.
Tunneled. First surv 12k, clearly camp + hard tunnel. The 12k surv was pretty much all the time in chase. And with such a low mobility killer, you have proxy camped.
Lilith doesn't tunnel or camp.
But even though, you cannot reverse my argument. Fact that a top 0,1% killer mains, mastering Blight with 1000 hours on him exclusively is unable to get at least 2k, and get only 7 hooks, just shows how broken the game is.

If you want a blast as killer, you must play at an average+ MMR. Above it, it's just a sweat fest.
But when you are good enough, there is no in-between. At an average+ MMR, you will always have 2 weak survivors throwing the game for the 2 others. Trials are not fun. And at a higher MMR you have 4 great survivors, you cannot do anything, trial is not fun.
-
Even though Blight is considered as a Tier S killer with a high skill ceiling, Lilith, one of the best, if not the best, Blight player still cannot win against High MMR survivors lol
He got 7 hooks on that game. Ormond map.
Dbd is at its worst state compared to the last 3 years. Even top 0,1% killer mains with the best killers can't win. That's crazy.

Many DbD streamers have said that the VHS' gameplay is great and very well balanced. We will see i guess...
But you should check the Dowsey's gameplay video, the game looks so polished it's incredible.

Then he should be reworked. I understand that this upsets people, but it's hard enough being a console player with all of the performance issues while also having to deal with Tech Blights.
Yes, skill required to play him should be lowered, the skill cap is way way too high and hardware limited (needs an expensive high DPI mouse, 120 FPS and 144Hz screen for exemple).
As it is designed, Blight has nothing to do in the game, same for the nurse that is impossible to counter when a great player plays her. Oni is also DPI limited and should not exist as it is, Billy same.
When you do the list, there are many killer designs that are terrible.
The community considered those killers tier S or tier A but with the SBMM we now all see that most of the killers are tier B at best except the nurse which is tier SSS but impossible to counter when mastered... which prove how bad the design is.
In fact, more i play killers since the SBMM release, more i see the DbD's flaws and i'm starting to completely hate the game.
Everything is clunky when you play killer. Movements are not smooth, interactions are slow & clunky, there are bugs everywhere and bad designs decisions all the time.
Some exemples :
- blight bump registering as a slide
- unable to set a trapper trap next to an unset trap that spawned there, adding extra operations just to set your trap especially when your bag is full
- impossible to snuff a boon unless you are in the good position, 1cm accuracy needed...
- survivor position teleporting at each down
- pallet bodyblocking working half the time
The killer gameplay really feels like a PS1 game... It reminds me of the first Tomb Raider, everytime clunky, never smooth.
It is obvious that BHVR has used way more ressources to polish the survivor gameplay which feel modern and smooth...

I see that some people want to have all of Blight's techs to be removed from the game since they were not an intended feature by the devs.
I'm talking about stuff like : Hug tech, Scoot Slide, Moon Rush, High DPI flicks and S/Z flicks. basically all of the fun and technical hard to learn stuff of blight.
What is your opinion of that guys?
From one side, yeah they were not intended and give advantage to the killer.
From the other side, it makes the killer much more hard to learn, fun, rewarding and STRONG.
Do we actually need to nerf more killers in a survivor sided game so just all high MMR games will be against "No game design works against me" Nurses?
Don't forget that all of his techs are counterable if you can realize you're against a good blight and you're expecting him to do them.
- They were not intended so they should not exist
- They are impossible to do on consoles, so they should not exist
- Killer is tier F without those techs
- Killer is unplayable against good survivors even with those techs
- Only 0,0001% of the killer playerbase are able to play Blight properly to win against average++ survivors
So Blight needs a complete rework, without the techs he is a pathetic M1 killer and with the techs, he is buggy but can be strong if mastered but as i have said, there are only 1 or 2 good Blight players in the whole community... it means a lot of how clunky and unplayable this killer is.
Globally, the design idea around Blight is great but the global game design around loops doesn't fit for that kind of gameplay.
- Main gameplay features = looping = running around object with tight angles and a pallet.
- Blight can't turn enough during a rush to be able to run around the loops.
When on earth did the devs thought Blight design was a good idea ? Next they will do a plane game under water ?
Blight is then never played as Billy and Oni.

Once VHS will be out, if the killer gameplay is more engaging and fun than in DbD, all killers will go on VHS and DbD will die definitely.
And seeing the first gameplay videos, it looks like the interaction between the survivors and the monster requires skill, strategy and smart plays.

what killer are you maining? i know dbd isn't a conventional competitive like fighting games, but there's been an established tier list of killers. trapper is still pretty pathetic even after the buff for example.
All killers are pathetic. Only nurse (when mastered) and Spirit are efficient enough to have fair games.
Blight is way too hard to handle for the common player playing him. Honestly the turn rate is way too low for him to be good enough. Not mentioning the tons of bump bugs where you slide instead of bumping.
Only good Blight around is Lilith and he has thousands of hours with him... if you need to put 3000 hours into a single killer to be efficient, what is the point ?

Come on now this has to be bait
Nope. Everyone knows that every high skilled player in any game is playing with 400 DPI. Players using 800+ DPIs are really rare. And the need to do huge movement to do 90 degrees turns while using so high DPIs is dumb.
