I've played enough games against metaperk squadrons to have lost my ability to feel sympathy. Killers have absolutely no reason to build up slowly, gauge the survivor team's competence level, or let off the gas from the start of the match. It's either all or nothing.

OP's talking about Solo Q and you instantly bring up 4-man sweat squads and "us vs them"-mentality. Really? At least try to stick to the thread.

After losing count of the amount of times I've been left to hit struggle on first hook, or even die on first hook, I'm starting to understand better why some survivors just would rather kill themselves early on. Save themselves the grief.

Not to say I've done it yet.

But like I kind of get it now.

Yes, Solo is rough. You can't count on your teammates. They bring killers to you while you are on a gen, they farm you, they leave you. As a solo survivor you absolutely have to watch out for yourself. BT and DS is almost a must atm. 1 survivor F'ing up the symmetry is enough to throw the game vs a decent killer who knows how to apply pressure.

Last night is a perfect solo story. We where doing great, I ran the killer for 2 gens, then had a flashlight save. Then a few trades, 3rd gen popped. I was about to finnish the 4th gen when this survivor running Bond ran straight to me, bringing the killer with Pop to the gen who was 95% finnished. I got downed right after (I was already injured), the "teammate" tapped the gen and saved me right in the killers face without BT. I go down instantly and the killer gets another pop on the gen. And then repeat - dead. In a matter of like 45 seconds this ONE survivor throws the game away. Ended shortly after in a 4K and 1 gen remaining.

Not saying this is terrible game at all, it can be much worse - but it truly paints a picture of what the solo q experience is like haha.

  • @Marigoria said:

Totally agree. My matches during the day (EU) are wayyyy more enjoyable on both sides.

At night it's a sweat fest as killer and I get potatoes as team mates.

    Same.

  • I don’t hate you for saying that, I get it. But do you really want to kill the game?

  • Oh look, your thread instantly became an us vs them thread lmao.

But yeah, I've had enough of facecamping Bubbas at 5 gens. Had the whole x-mas off and it was so good. November and December have to be my worst month ever as a solo q player because of this lame gameplay..

  • As killer:

    • Lucky Break/Iron Will combo
    • Prove Thyself
    • Head On

    As survivor:

    • SH: Pain Resonance
    • Franklins
    • Starstruck

The cool down is the 16-24s it takes to bless a totem. An entire 1min cool down is just overkill when games last 5-10 minutes.

A cooldown like DH of 40 seconds will not ruin the perk. It will however not make it the only thing some people do. You get more points for blessing a totem than repairing one gen it’s ridiculous.

  • Because it is so easy to spam them out.

I feel like my random teammates use more time blessing totems than working on actual objectives.

  • The community asked for a better matchmaking system. A complicated skill based matchmaking system they used 1,5 years to develop could’ve been ok. At least we had hope. But, the devs being the devs it seems they actually spent 1,5 hours of thinking through it before launching it…

It is definitely not what I was hoping for. I’ve been one of many optimists, but not anymore.

  • It should at least have a cool-down.

    Omg yes 😄😄😄

  • Last night I got downed twice by a Wraith while being in a snowman. Bug or did they change this??

Also while I’m healthy and walking in a snowman I get injured when killers hit me.

  • Ugh people always make shortcuts for these challenges. Just for what, 25K BPs? This is solo q hell. At least when you play with friends the others know about what you are trying to do and can play around it.

I try to change my builds when I do challenges, i.e. the sabo challenge: I will then change my build to

Saboteur, Breakout, MoM, DH. I will then bring a Alex's toolbox, hacksaw and extra charges.

I'm then doing challenge, play normally and at least trying to help teammates.

  • The emblem system that gives you grades actually encourage survivors to stay in the trial for as long as possible. You get better survival for living longer. I believe that if you leave early then you will not gain an iridescent emblem. Just a thought.

I mean, there's still a big difference between those two complaints. Tunnelling and facecamping end the game early for one or multiple Survivors, and are actually torturous to deal with in a pure gameplay sense--those two behaviors actually affect the video game mechanically. Even the developers have stated that they are trying to find a solution for facecamping, which confirms that it is a behavior that actually affects the video game negatively and needs correcting.

However, crouching and clicking have no actual effect on gameplay. There would be no difference mechanically between a Survivor standing in the exit gate doing absolutely nothing and one standing in the gate crouching repeatedly. It's purely emotional. The developers aren't going to do anything about crouching and non-macro flashlight clicking because they literally do not affect the game itself in any way, shape or form.

Not to mention, like I said previously, teabagging your opponents has existed since the dawn of multiplayer gaming, and people understand that in every other video game... except here. It's pretty crazy.

    I 100% agree with you.

Why is it so easy for killers to get the anniversary crowns, they just need to collect them. Whereas the survivors needs to escape with them.

  • Starstruck, Agitation, Infectious Fright is a nasty combo. Specially on nurse. I would say this is kind of meta already.

  • Survivors: "Accept that tbagging og clicking is a thing in the game. You need to work on how you react."

Killers: "Accept that tunneling and facecamping are legit strategies. You need to work on how you react."

It's not what you can see them with BBQ (purple glyph), it's that they're meant to show up when you hook someone.

In that case you should be able to see them when a gen pops if you play survivor right? Or at least when you finish a gen yourself..

Yes. Having 50/50 chance to escape in horror game is strange

How do you expect to balance this swf vs solo?

If you expect to kill 3/4 survivors in a swf, that pretty much equals 100% kill rate vs solo q lobbies.

  • @Yords said:

To greatly help with this issue BHVR would have to:

    • Have all survivors start together at the start of a match
    • Improve map design (please)
    • Make killers at least A tier

This would automatically put the game in a much better state. But BHVR only sees dbd as a cash cow so we will never get them.

You forgot to also put a communication tool for solo q survivors. Then we're all good.

    Eh...

It's not pre Tribunal LoL bad or original DoTA bad, and it's miles from early XBLive or Smite bad but it's still pretty awful at times.

It's because this game can be frustrating. Take a game I had earlier.

Playing Doctor. Wind up on Grim Pantry with that frigging log right in front of the boat, forming the pseudo-infinite. Yay. And I'm up against a 3-man.

Game starts rough, 3 gens pop before my first down. However, after I hook the Bill, the other survivors leave him to almost die because one is too busy showing off that - yes - she can play the log-boat infinite basically forever and the other two are healing or something.

I end up chasing the one on the boat over to the hook - she unhooks in front of my face. Fine. I hit her, then hit Bill (for some reason) attempts to bodyblock (maybe he thought he had BT or something?) and down him again, then down her. Feel a bit bad because he had a rough bounce, so I back off and let their friend them heal him up.

They end up stomping me - just hugging that damn boat loop every time I chase. And of course, Bill sits in the exit gates with his two chums teabagging away, then I get told to uninstall in postgame by all 3.

Welp, now I'm going to be playing no-mercy games for a bit because sod all survivors on principle. No streamers for you!

And that's how the cycle of toxicity continues.

    Sigh.

Not everyone is like this! :)

Hope you had better games/experiences the rest of the night.

Its not the average "kill count", it's the average "death count" and whilst these sound the same they're very different.

The kill count is just how many people the killer killer either by hooking or bleeding out.

The death count includes those who DC'd and suicide. Not that the killer got those kills, but more that the survivor (s) gave up and left inflating the supposed "kill rate".

Are you new to the forums, because everyone who brings up these stats gets told this.

Did you just ask that question to someone with over 1000 posts? LMAO

"with the sole purpose to ruin other players gaming experience" - you're projecting now! You don't know the intentions, you only know the outcome. And it's a PvP... one side has to lose by design. If you're calling that "ruining other players gaming experience", then I think we've found the problem.

Losing is fine. I die about 7/10 games, as long as I can play and be interactive it's fine.

Ruining everyone else's gaming experience is not fine.

I believe you know the difference after this whole discussion.

The notion of "well SWFS get this for free" isnt that great of a one. This game was not designed for voice comms. No matter how much comms are abused. Kindred instantly makes groups effecient once someone is on the hook.

I know, it is a great perk.

But comms will be used no matter what. Why not just work around that so the gap between SWF and Solo can be reduced.

I honestly believe this is for the better. And ofc, buff under performing killers.

  • @Not_Social_Joker said:

Yeah, this is just relatable. Now, I play killer WAY more than survivor, mainly because I play by myself a lot and survivor is pretty boring when I'm alone, but even I barely complain. The only times I complain is when survivors heal super fast (which, with the introduction of boon totems, I feel like I'm a slight bit justified in this complaint nowadays) and gen rushing. And even then, these are things that I know that I complain about because...well, I'm bad. Now, there may be some unfairness for killers regarding these two, but I feel these complaints are mostly my fault.

Now the one thing that really grinds my gears as a killer main is when survivors think they're hot stuff and t-bag, flashlight spam, etc. This stuff sends me over the edge because I know the main reason they do it is because I'm bad and they know it. Everything else is fine, but these things. These actions that serve literally no other purpose than to annoy you. They just, well, normally I have a sort of moral code, since I play the game more to have fun than to actually win. No camping or tunneling. The people that do this annoying ######### make me want to throw that code out the window into a dumpster. They know I'm bad, and they still do this #########. They have nothing to prove, nothing to gain, there is nothing. That's why it ticks me off. IT SERVES NO PURPOSE. FIX A GEN, SAVE A SURVIVOR, OPEN A CHEST! THAT HAS A PURPOSE!

Phew...sorry about that. Got a little carried away.

    I feel you, it's frustrating.

I personally feel that crouching should take like 0,2 seconds - like it is in real life. Same with getting up. In that way way, t-bagging is almost impossible.

Maybe have a little delay when using flashlight? Make it take 0,1 seconds to light up, maybe a aiming action? This eliminates clicking and stuff.

    Just a thought :)

Kindred exists. Health states exist so people can sort of gather you're in chase. Perks exist to let people know you're on a gen. Including kindred revealing what everyone is doing

If you truly believe this is just as good information and use of perk slot as voice comms, then you have nothing to worry about.

The rest of the community will then hope for this :)

    1. Curve with Billy
    2. Picking someone up without downing them while they're in a trap
    3. Snipe shot with Huntress
  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/295181/what-maining-killer-means

    Eh.

There are some aspects of the game that really grind my grapes as killer. The pseudo-infinite 'House of Pain' on Haddonfield (why is this still a thing?) and Badham, toolboxes and PTS, boon patrols etc.

NOED really isn't that scary unless it's combined with NWO, in which case you just have to sacrifice someone and wait it out.

I play maybe 85% killer and 15% survivor.

The only thing that frustrates me as survivor is not having sufficient tools to communicate with the other survivors.

Can't wait for a rework of Haddonfield. I play 80% survivor and hate that map, on behalf of the person I'm playing against lol. They tried to fix house of pain with the Badham rework, but kinda didn't?

A communication tool would be welcomed. Even if it is just some commands you can "say" like:

    • Im being camped
    • In a chase
    • On a gen

I'd rather have voice coms though.

Then buff the under performing killers to adjust.

  • I like the idea, this could make it more viable to use. And gens in the middle of nowhere would also block stuff!

  • Franklins and Insidious is fun to use together. Make them drop their precious items and camp it till they come to recover it. They will get a jump scare out of this world haha

  • @PlaysByShady said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2641534#Comment_2641534

The fact that you call people psychopaths for playing a killer within the mechanics of how they're meant to be played nullifies your credibility entirely for me. You can't project your own limited subjective perspective onto others who you don't know the first thing about, nor can you claim complete domain knowledge when you don't have it.

And when I said survivors dictate the flow of the game, and you said "no, SWF do"... guess what! SWF are survivors!!!

And survivors dictate the flow because until they start doing gens, or making themselves visible to the killer (they could spend the game hiding in lockers), the game literally doesn't progress. There is nothing the killer can do to progress the game that doesn't involve the survivor first... whereas the survivors can progress the game by just doing gens, etc, without the killer being involved in any way.

Ergo... survivors dictate the flow of the game!

This is the problem with survivor mains :(

Launching into a game with the sole purpose to ruin other players gaming experience, and finding that amusing? Yes, I stand by my opinion.

You can't hide in a locker for long without crows swarming over your head. There is nothing a survivor can do to hinder the Killer to play or do whatever he/she likes. But, a killer can do that to a survivor. Either by a body block in a corner, or facecamping.

"This is the problem with survivor mains", lol. I play both sides and never do I feel that I have to facecamp. If you can't beat them take the L and move on, you will face teammates more of your skill the next game.

  • @PlaysByShady said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2641131#Comment_2641131

Here's the problem with your argument... the Facecamping Bubba's want/like to play like that. They enjoy it. Regardless of what it means for the other players, that's how they want/like to play.

So who are you now to decide they cannot play how they like, when literally in every other capacity it's the survivors who predominantly dictate how the games go and they're nowhere near as considerate as killers generally are (e.g. survivors often tea-bag and BM at the exit gates, etc, particularly if they've juiced the killer royally... yet we see examples of killers giving survivor hatch, etc, all the time).

You can't have it both ways. You (general you, not you specifically) can't argue for survivors to exhibit any and every playstyle, and yet complain when killers do the same within the valid mechanics of the game. It's not up to you to determine what's fun for the other person!

That is exactly what I was saying. What kind of people likes to do this? They think it's fun to do this? They are psychopaths.

And no, the survivors are not dictating the flow of the game, not solos. SWF's do. You need to separate the two. The fact that you (general you, not you specifically) can't wrap your head around how different it is to play SWF and Solo is mind boggling.

Solos are the ones receiving the worst in this, because they have no way to inform the others they are being camped or anything. Killers get stomped, BMed and harrased by sweaty SWF's. Then they take it out on the solo q survivors the next game when they are totally in domanance of the game.

  • @PlaysByShady said:

I've said this before... survivor mains who keep crying about how killers play, and asking for more 2nd chances (DS, BT, boons that allow everyone to hide scratch marks, heal themselves, pick themselves up, etc, etc), as well as mechanics to prolong chases and do gens faster, are literally forcing the killers to play in the only way they can where these multitude of effects can be negated... of which tunnelling and camping is one.

You cannot expect killers to play by the imaginary survivor rules, that's plain stupid. But unfortunately that's where the game is going (or at least making the survivor rules something enshrined in gameplay with all the counters they get to killer abilities). Killers are obviously going to react accordingly. You can't blame them... they weren't the ones who brought the imbalance!

Facecampers are the worst of the worst. They ruin the game more than anything else. There are no reason to do it, other than your goal being to make the game miserable for 1 person and the game boring for the rest. The lack of sympathy these people show is insane. They WANT TO RUIN THE EXPERIENCE.

I'm not talking about camping to secure a kill at the endgame, which is totally fair. I'm talking about 5 gens left facecamping. There is NOTHING justifying it. I'm shocked that so many people try to justify this kind of behavior.

I'm a solo q player, I die probably about 7/10 games. I dont care, as long as the game was somewhat fun. What makes me continue is the time invested in this game. Time I'm seriously starting to regret. Trying to chill for 5-6 games is now just a nightmare, at least one or more of these games will end up being a a total waste of time.

HOPING FOR A FIX FOR THIS. It is for the best, Killers and Survivors.

I'm talking about an overheat mechanic like Hillbilly has. Bubba can rev to 99% forever, guarantying to be able to chainsaw whenever he wants.

A hillbilly can't do that, and, anyway, he can insta down only one surv, where Bubba can insta down the entire world. He is a freaking face camping machine, and survivors can't do anything about that.

I agree, such a mechanic could partly fix the facecamping problem in some situations.

Bubba should be able to down multiple people at once, he needs to have some strengths compared to Billy because he doesn't have the mobility and map pressure.

Definitely not a skill issue. I 4k most of the time. And yes, tiles, especially when they are connected, are incredibly overpowered. The survivor can easily lead a game ending chase if they choose to play safe. The killer can’t do anything about it.
