I find that very hard to believe. Sony is pretty quick on banning or at least deleting messages even with simple swears in them. I met a guy back in dark souls 3 who would invade people, message them after and try to get them to swear or say something stupid just so he could report them and get them banned for a bit of extra lol's.
I've also reported a guy as a joke for calling me a little piece ######### with a few other choice words and the message got moderated within a few minutes. No idea if he got banned but they do at least delete the messages. I've also talked with a few people who've gotten banned for 24hrs just for simple swears as well.
If what you're saying is true then you most have gotten the only bot or person in Sony that's lenient on that.
To be honest I had heard similar reports about Sony being quick to ban. So I am sure you can imagine that I was rather shocked when they said there was nothing wrong with being told to kill myself. Which obviously should be taken more seriously than simply saying a naughty word.
Such as 'knickers'.

Your making the thread specifically aimed at survivors which I don't like. Both sides are toxic like this, not just 1 specific one. Creating posts like this aren't going to make a difference to the very few individuals on either side that are toxic.
Also don't like how the Lerys game you mentioned you called it a "gen rush". If you only got 7k points then you obviously didn't do well. If your not hooking survivors or creating any pressure then there's nothing for them to do but gens. You got unlucky getting such a bad map for Blight but you can't blame your loss on "gen rush".
Survivors can tell before the game ends if the killer brought a bps or event cake offering by just checking the pause screen.
Toxic killers are quite rare in my experience. It's a lot easier to be toxic as part of a group.
-
Ghostface. I don't pay enough attention.
-
Before SBMM, I used to play killer until my rank went up to a certain level where I would get beat every game. Then I would have to stop playing until the next rank reset. Now with SBMM all my games are around the same level so I play a lot more.
-
Someone told me to kill myself after a game on PS4 in the one week I had messaging enabled. I reported it to Sony who said that there was nothing wrong with what they said.
So that was nice of them.
-
I hope you mean Civ 5. Civ 6 is more like a Spreadsheet than a game.
-
It doesn't count if it was Mrs (or Mr) StarLost that "accidently" unplugged your Ethernet cable!
-
It's a shame there are maps where you simply have no opportunity to use it. If we could turn some of those Dead Hard users into BL users that could only be a good thing.
Old BL had to go as it hindered map design because they had to consider BL abuse for every one.

So a killer who you have the least chances of having any decent perks or addons with, and will take a growing investment to "catch up" to the one you presumably have the strongest build for? thats kinda backwards.
It does seem backwards, but if you imagine you are the best survivor in the world with the highest MMR and a new killer is released. You wouldn't even get to play against the new killer if everyone's MMR on that killer was set low as all the new killers MMRs would be out of your range.
-
If you are good, you should be playing with other good players. If you are new or bad, you should be playing with other new or bad players.

I get the latter on every single killer 90% of the time. Including a killer i literally just purchased. I only ever even play killer for dailies and challenges at this point anyway, and its been like that for over a year.
Newly purchased killers' MMR is always set a little bit under that of your highest rated killer. It is not enough unfortunately.
-
A visible negative scoring event that says something like "Tunnelling -1000" in the corner might be a good idea. So the player is told that they have effectively tunnelled a player. I would only agree if it was actually tunnelling though. i.e. Start of the game, ignore everyone except the one person that had already been hooked. Otherwise a bit of light tunnelling is often just good strategy. A similar negative scoring event for survivors unhooking in the killers face might also be appropriate, as often the real blame should be redirected to your teammates.

Yeah, you thought it actually is killer specific like they said it would be? If it actually is, then the matchmaking is so broken it might as well not exist.
If I play as my worst killer (Huntress) I basically just get default Dwights and Claudettes. If I play my regular killers I get coordinated SWF bully squads. So at least for me, the MMR system is killer specific and seems to be working correctly.
-
I suspect @Pulsar's Nurse game is a long way off his top killer which might go some way to explaining it, as he hadn't really played Nurse - 30 is excessive though, and it might be caused by a maximum range limit between your best and worst killer.

I don't understand I'm only getting survivors who can destroy me at every single loop and it won't stop, my MMR won't lower at all, the games are getting worse. When is it supposed to actually do anything, I've barely played killer at all since SBMM dropped and apparently it thinks I'm a god killer. Why is it not working at all?
Are you playing the same killer or different killers? You need to lose a few games as the same killer for that killer's MMR to drop. If you like to play everyone, you need a fair few games on each one to adjust.
My killer MMR is now appropriate for every killer but I had to endure more than my fair share of 4 survivors teabagging at the exit gates to get to that point.

Game runs at 60fps on consoles

This isn't 60 FPS
Oh wow I'm sorry, that is bad!
Game runs at 60fps on some consoles.
-
Yes as @Mooks said, AFK is the way to go and it is infrequent. If you think this is bad, wait until you play killer!
-
Much better:
The MMR seems to highlight the imbalance for me, rather than it being the actual problem. The old ranking system was unfair and needed to go. Now games are more appropriate for people's skills.
Nasty perks have been nerfed: Old Ruin, Old Hex: Undying, Old DS, Old Balanced Landing
Boon: COH and Dead Hard are broken but can both be EASILY fixed should the devs be daring enough.
Game-breaking bugs are far less frequent than they used to be.
Fewer infinites
Game runs at 60fps on consoles
Mashing the X button on a hook was removed
Events are back.

This is very true, and it's things we've seen with previous streams as well. We're also very clear that we cannot talk about upcoming stuff with much certainty, but yet still we get asked these questions and of course they're the most upvoted.
It does feel like we can't win at times for sure.
Although it can be frustrating to not get a straight answer, sometimes the non-answers are still useful. No comment about Pinhead's voice-lines being a good example. Nobody ruled out them coming back.

@JawsIsTheNextKiller I just realized you're the same one that frequents my stream. Hilarious lol. How are you enjoying the Nemmy DLC ?
I thought my name looked familar.
Nemmy is fantastic (thanks again by the way). Once you have those controller redeems up and running, I look forward to you seeing how tricky those tentacle hits are on a controller!

You have to look at it like this.
Dead Hard being fixed so that it works properly is good.
The strength of Dead Hard is not good.
I used to be exhausted on the floor so often, it was really frustrating. But seeing this as the alternative, I would happily go back to how it was.

Fingers crossed they also have/will very soon fix the issues of it eating powers by mistake too.
I can only imagine the effort required to fix this perk is just not worth it. If they fix all the problems, we will still be left with a perk that is too strong. I wish they would just make the perk into something different and then they can put their time and effort into something more worthwhile. Like bringing back nodding whilst crouching.
-
In the PTD patch notes they do say that they have improved the false feedback from hit validation. Whether they actually have or not we will discover once it goes live.

I don't know how to have fun as a solo survivor. My teammates don't do gens, killers get 4ks in more than 85% of my games (I've kept track). If the game isn't fun, don't play. I take months long breaks from this game because it's just not fun. I keep checking back in and it's still not fun.
Killers 4K most of the time in my games too. Once you fall through the MMR event horizon, it is very difficult to claw your way out as a solo survivor.
-
@Pulsar said:
Yeah, it's real.
I have no idea how to tell though. You can reaction DH most things, iirc.
Sometimes I've been licking the back of the survivor's neck for a couple of seconds before swinging and they've still managed to Dead Hard. I don't know how they do it!
-
Since literally some effort is required for most potential fixes, if the devs don't want to put the work in, just lower the cost of everything on the bloodweb.
-
Hiding is boring. I'd much rather have a bit of a chase and get hooked than draw out a game unnecessarily.
-
Play as Mikaela, put up a boon. Only equip Shadowstep and/or Exponential. Wait near the boon for someone injured to run up to it. Blind them with a firecracker and run away, teabagging.
If they are able to heal themselves. Nod, from a distance.
-
A bit silly but if you need to go AFK - face camp a survivor. Get right up close so that you are looking up at them. Then go and answer the phone or whatever. After the rescue the survivors will look back and see you are still there, looking up at no survivor.
-
This is a really impressive amount of effort you've put in. Often when I get my 35ms ping hit validated, I check the survivor's ping and it way worse than that. I don't understand how that can happen if this is how it works but I can't really argue with your research.
-
@Pulsar -That is interesting because I can test whether the MMR is on simply by playing Huntress. My Huntress couldn't hit a barn door. As soon as I load into a lobby, "Default Meg, Default Claudette, Default Dwight and another Default Meg". They win too!
I wonder if the MMR has parameters that prevent any killer's MMR straying too far from your top rated killer's MMR?

What are you guys talking about? Grades aren't used for matchmaking. It won't be easier after the reset.
Grades aren't used for matchmaking but at Grade 20 it is easier to double-pip because they change the values required to qualify for each pip.

So, I have 200 matches recorded on my own as survivor which show escape rates -- both for myself and for people on my "team" -- that are wildly different than either the OP's, or Pulsar's (mine are in the middle of the two of their results).
Care to explain -- without using a biased take -- which one of the three of ours are relevant and whose aren't then? How are the OP's numbers statistically significant, yet mine or Pulsar's aren't, and why?
I worked in a casino for a number of years. This debate reminds me of the people who would come to a roulette wheel, look at the board showing what numbers had hit already, and then betting certain numbers because they were able to "identify a trend" based on a handful of spins on record. That would pretty much work out for them the way rational people would assume it would (and is why casinos stay in business -- they're built on people who see numerical trends that simply aren't there or accurate and pay for it -- literally).
200 survivor games is a much larger sample size than 4 games as Trapper. So yours is the most relevant.
-
@Dino7281 said:
Play 100 games on one killer. Someone in middle, like Nemesis, or Demogorgon.
That's only way to get some results with how MMR works. Don't keep changing killers.
Yes this is right. It doesn't even have to be as many as 100 but if you play a few matches of Trapper, only his MMR changes and only by a relatively small amount. As soon as you switch killers, you switch to that killer's MMR.
These aren't stats aren't for 100 killer games these are 26 seperate stats of 4 killer games.

Combine god Nurse with mostly solo survivor and honestly the conclusions they come to suddenly seem reasonable, even the more outlandish ones.

Sluzzy's a god Nurse, IIRC. I always see their name on the front page of the DBD stats tracker I use.
Okay if this is true and @Sluzzy is a god-tier Nurse, he will be getting 4Ks almost every match. So wouldn't it be realisable that his conclusion of survivors being too weak is valid?
Oh no am I a survivor main now?

None of the big steamers is permanently gonna leave DBD as long as their viewers want to watch them play the game. They try another game, see their viewers drop and they will be back to DBD cause thats where their money comes from.
So they either end up like Edgar or FunGoose. Edgar is still steaming DBD cause he has to since as soon as he tries to play another game his viewers drop from ~600 to less than 200. Meanwhile FunGoose went from ~1k viewers to about 30 cause he really stopped playing DBD and went to stream a game that already has a ######### ton of popular streamers.
If they do leave the game, I don't know if there are slot in replacements for their content. FunGoose's content was unique, nobody has replaced the "Education Streamer" role successfully. He said he would be back after Christmas but somehow I doubt it.

These are probably the most important three content creators. For them all to leave at the same time is a huge deal. Even if they say it is temporary, if they get close to the same amount of popularity then there is no reason for them to return.
