Killer mains have speed, powers, perks and add- ons and still camp or have to camp, are they really that weak

Are killers weak because they camp - or are they forcing their strategy?

That would be like saying survivors who teabag at dropped pallets are ignorant because they are wasting time they could be using to create distance from the killer. Or is that survivor deliberately trying to get on the nerves of the killer to persuade them to not switch targets and waste their time even more?

When you look at things from a biased and one-sided position - it takes away a plethora of alternatives that are just as valid.

  • I just think it's funny that a lot of people think they are high mmr. Apparently not very many average players in this game.

  • Gee only 4 facecamping/camping threads on the front page of General Discussion.

  • And? Why shouldn't you be penalized for playing when your internet is not stable? Your disconnect adversely affects everyone else in the match. If you know you are having internet issues do not play games where others rely on you having stable internet. If you have a 6 hour ban that tells me you either purposefully disconnected a few times in the past 24 hours AND disconnected due to poor internet... OR you have disconnected a lot the past 24 hours due to continually trying to play when your internet is not stable - either way - the ban is deserved.

  • Except this is not anything new and has happened prior to SBMM quite a bit.

If you want to try to find negative things about SBMM - at least make them relevant to SBMM.

  • The only times I have had longer queue times for killer is around 3am-8am MST - then the wait is usually like 7 mins.

People quitting out of frustration? TBH, I’ve been thinking about it all week. Yelled at my monitor this morning out of disgust for this system. IDK any more…I’m trying to give it a chance. I really am.

How many threads are you going to post you are thinking about quitting in? This is second in the top 10 threads.

To the OP - I haven't noticed any real change in my killer or survivor queue times since SBMM - my wait is dependent on the time of day I play and which role. My max wait time for either is approx 5 minutes at worst and 15-20 seconds at best. US West Coast player.

    Inner Strength:

    1. Requires that you have a dull totem available or already cleansed (14 seconds)
    2. Requires that you then enter and sit uninterrupted in a locker for eight seconds

That's already 22 seconds, not to mention the time traversing. Some maps have very few locker placements as well. It's not a bad perk, but if it's going to compete with Self-Care could at least have its healing time lowered to 5/4/3 seconds in a locker.

    1. As I stated - I already do totems so may as well get an added benefit from them. At a minimum I easily find and do 2 totems every match. FYI it does not require a DULL totem - it requires A totem - dull or hex.
    2. You have to travel to a safe place to self care as well...where you crouch for 32 seconds - vulnerable - easily interrupted - and easily picked up on Nurse's Calling. Inner Strength can only be interrupted if you are picked out of the locker - it is not affected by Doctor's powers, Executioner's powers, Cenobite's powers, etc - Self Care is.

So there is no added time for my gameplay which is what I stated. I use Inner Strength usually once a match and RARELY twice.

  • Not saying you are being untruthful, but this video does not prove you had a 24 loss streak. You made it sound like you got whooped ever since SBMM came out, but you obviously pipped some as you were Ash II. Yes I know you can pip without escaping, but again the video proves nothing. Did you not record the two matches - loss 22 & 23 before this match as well? If so.. why didn't you show those two losses and then your escape? I am always skeptical of selective "proof."

If it is true - that sucks, but it is also not the normal for the vast majority of players. I played 27 solo survivor matches the other day (each survivor one match) - The only "meta" perk I used was Borrowed Time which helps my teammates and not me. Of those 27 I escaped 16 times and was given the hatch twice. Prior to SBMM I was a rank 1 survivor for 4+ years. I don't think I am a great survivor by any stretch of the imagination - average sure MAYBE slightly above average. The worst I have SEEN was a streamer friend who played around 15 matches and only escaped twice.

  • Neither - I am playing the exact same amount.

  • I never use Self Care. If I want a healing perk I use Inner Strength for a few reasons:

    1. I already do totems every match
    2. Self Care takes 32 seconds at tier 3 - Inner Strength takes 8 seconds. Even if you include the totem cleansing speed of 14 seconds - it is still 10 seconds faster. If you want Self Care to be faster you have to bring a med kit OR another perk - No thanks.
    3. Inner Strength is not picked up by Nurse's Calling

Do I care if people use Self Care - nope - it's your game as well - play how you want. For my playstyle where I already do totems it just makes sense to make that totem cleanse have another purpose.

Seriously, when I play survivor I see Sloppy maybe once a session. The vast majority of the killers I face run info perks and gen slowdown, not anti-heal. I’m not saying nobody runs it ever, “never” was obviously hyperbole, but it’s WAY less common these days than it used to be.

I just believe in saying what you mean - and meaning what you say. Saying you RARELY see it wouldn't have gotten any reply from me. I see Sloppy probably 1-2 matches out of 10. I see it more than probably 80% of the perks out there for killer. Is it one of the top 5 perks I see nah - top 12-15 yeah.

  • @xenotimebong said:

Killers never run Sloppy anymore and they seem to run back to the hook 90% of the time and interrupt altruistic healing, so Self Care came back into favour a bit since it lets you patch yourself up without any real hit to efficiency as long as you don’t use it like a baby Claudette.

The cure for the Self Care epidemic is Sloppy Butcher.

Uhhh - Killers NEVER run Sloppy - ok LOL.

I generally run Sloppy + Thana - 20% increase in amount it takes to heal... or don't heal and take that 20% inefficiency to gens.

I usually run: Sloppy, Thanatophobia, Nurse's, and Pop on my Doctor & Legion and it serves me very well :)

  • Alert: It is a staple in my survivor build. I get more info from it than I do other information perks imo.

I play 50/50 so that means a lot of survivor. Back when I needed BP to unlock perks etc I always ran We're Gonna Live Forever - it helped with getting people off ground faster and with BP. I still think it is a great perk for players who need BP and want to play survivor.

Soul Guard: This is a great perk in my opinion. I play solo survivor 98% of the time and people will try to get you up while the killer is coming towards you - well no problem with Soul Guard.. get up run at killer.. get hit...get that 8 second Endurance effect and the speed boost when the killer hits you. Also a great perk against Hex perks - especially NOED in the end game. This perk is fun to run with Unbreakable and Tenacity. That combo has saved me and allowed me to escape numerous times.

  • I seem to have missed where they stated they were survivor mains in the chat. Why aren't they killer mains teaming up to try and punish other killers? Maybe stop assuming what people "main" or don't "main" for starters.

What I see is a subpar peen measuring contest. Congrats?

It's posts like these which reinforce why I have end game chat disabled - I don't have time for other people's egos or their SDE.

  • Mine varies from 2-5 mins. It hasn't changed in the past few weeks at all. For reference I was rank 1 killer for 4+ years. My general play time is 6p-2a MST. PC with crossplay enabled.

I don't get why it is hidden I wanna know how I'm doing in game :/

How did you know two weeks ago how you were doing in your matches... oh that's right the emblem system and bloodpoints you get. Nothing has changed in that aspect - you can still see where you did well and where you need to improve. Seeing your SBMM data will not show you how well you did in the match - that's what the emblems do.

  • Just disable end game chat - Tada!

Yes, you can disable it but it’s still sad that people feel the need to degrade others or stroke their video game ego in a post game chat. Unfortunately on Xbox we still get hate messages as long as it doesn’t contain specific words oh racist/sexual/vulgar nature.

On XBox you can disable receiving messages from people who are not your friends. Use the tools provided to you if it truly is a concern.

There are idiots out there - if you don't want them to message you - then take what proactive actions you can. It is better to be proactive than reactive.

Are you condoning people that make comments that degrade others? Some of those endgame chats can be very toxic, even going as far to telling people to “#########” because they ran a certain perk.

    1. You can disable end game chat on PC. You can also report people for this behavior and they will be banned.
    2. If someone says that on PS or XBox and is reported - they will be banned.

I am not condoning this behavior at all. I have had end game chat disabled forever it seems as it serves absolutely no purpose but to propagate hate speech. People just get tired of others coming to the forums complaining about end game chat when there are already tools to deal with this type of behavior. We get it - people can be toxic - - you can either be proactive and disable end game chat or you can deal with the idiots unfortunately.

As to the OP no clue where you are located, but I have never had a killer queue longer than 7 minutes and that was the absolute worst. My average killer wait time is about 2-5 minutes in West Coast US depending on the time. And yeah my SBMM is probably at the high end for killer as I was rank 1 for over 4 years.

  • Or... just disable end-game chat and you don't have to see comments from stupid people. It makes the game much more enjoyable.

  • This is a known Bug and has been reported in the BUGS section of the forums.

  • I just continue to play the game whether that is doing gens, being chased, etc. I don't run around looking for a key - would rather do something that gets me bloodpoints. if I get hooked I struggle to hopefully give the other survivor time to find hatch.

  • Geee this thread hasn't been made ad nauseum.

    Yes I statistically enjoy SBMM.

My killer rate has stayed the same, queue times are the same, matches last slightly longer, and BP gain is up slightly.

As a survivor my escape rates are slightly increased, queue times are the same, and BP gain is up over 15%.

I was Rank 1 for the past 4+ years as both survivor and killer. I still get sweats, potatoes, and salty players whether I play killer or survivor, but that is the nature of the DBD community. Unlike the majority of "mains" on the forums though I don't presume to be "high" SBMM - Maybe low tier high. Then again I have watched some of these people complaining on here who claim to be high SBMM and all I can think is "Sure Jan." Anyways - yeah I like SBMM.

  • Uhh I love Dead Dawg as killer. It's one of the better killer-sided maps. Not sure who you play as killer or what perks you are using, but I always do well on Dead Dawg.

  • Just finished 23 matches as killer - shortest queue time was around 45 seconds and longest 4 minutes.

For reference: I am on PC. West Coast US. And before SBMM was a rank 1 killer for 4+ years.

I played my 3 mains (Doctor, Pig, and Legion) for 6 matches each, Huntress 4 matches (not my main but I have probably played 100 matches as her), and 1 match as Cenobite (my 5th time playing him).

Maybe you should read just a tiny bit further 😉

I said grades aren't used for matchmaking.

But other than that it's just the same.

You still pip just like ranks and you still have brown, purple, red etc ranks

Except not really... You can't lose a grade - you could lose rank. Even their colors are different and their numbering are different.

  • Uhh ok.

Or you could check the BUGS section to see if this issue has been reported - Oh wait... it has:

  • Funny I was going to say the same thing to you....

Your statement makes no sense and is fundamentally incorrect. While "boring" is a subjective word - the statement you made had absolutes which are blatantly false. Both killers can be looped and neither killer is guaranteed a hit. I main Doctor and yes I have tools to TRY to shut down someone looping me - if they are good enough they can still loop me.

  • @Dennis_van_eijk said:

Grade or rank, it's basically the same thing.

The only difference now is that the "grade system" is not used as matchmaking.

Other than that it's the same, they just wanted to give it a fancy name.

Except they are not even remotely the same thing.

Rank was used for matchmaking - grades are not. So - not the same at all.

  • Uhhh what?

Doctor came out in May 2017 and Deathslinger in March 2020.

They can both be looped and are not guaranteed hits.

  • It has already been announced what WILL happen - not sure what you are going on about with all these scenarios.

Map disappears - anything you own - you own.

That's how it's supposed to work, but it's a crock. I don't play killer much, but I decided to go ahead and give the SBMM a shot last night, and I've never sweated more than I have before in this game. I had no business going up against that caliber of survivors. It was horrible.

Or you just aren't that good at killer - which if that's the case - your sbmm will recalculate over time and you will face survivors more to your skill level. No offense but maybe you were "boosted" previously as killer when you faced survivors - there are a lot of survivors who were boosted to higher ranks and were going against lower rank killers when they had no business doing so. The current SBMM is going off your matches back when there were ranks and let's face it - it was not the best at pairing people based on skill since rank did not ever indicate skill.

  • @Impose said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2496948#Comment_2496948

thats the inherent problem. Top tier killers going against top tier survivors will mean that people stay at the rank they are at or go up and down. Assuming proper matchmaking.

MMR being independent of rank SHOULD mean that no one gains rank.

There is no rank - there are grades which have nothing to do with matchmaking. No one gains rank because rank is no longer in the game. Your SBMM score changes each match depending on how you do. What you gain are grades - which you cannot lose no matter how many matches you do poorly in. There is nothing to indicate "rank" anymore plain and simple.

There are still ranks in the game we just see them as survivor grades, but you can still get a "hitting rank 10, hitting rank 1" achievement. If you don't believe me make an alt account and keep playing till you unlock it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2496875#Comment_2496875

I don't play this game often but I already went through rank reset and I am still at baby grades getting rank 1 killers camping so either killer has low mmr or my mmr is high as heck. Either way, it's really stupid that I'm facing people who are supposed to actually know how to play the game and a lot of my matches are people who just want to camp the hook and get gen rushed for 1 kill.

Just because someone hit Rank 1 in their achievements doesn't mean they are still rank 1. You are reaching.... There are no longer ranks in the game. You are matched with people based off their SBMM - not their previous ranks.

  • Uhm there are no ranks in the game....

Listen I have a bit of Lord_Tony in me where I just have a strong hatred for survivor main egos. Also from my experience, I see way more survivors than killers acting that way. I can assure you I do play survivor about as much and I understand that there are issues on both sides.

I get that... I am very much against all mains as they generally bring nothing to the conversation except entitlement, exaggerated claims, and circular inanity.

  • @NerfedFreddy said:

It's not my duty or responsibility to play against spirit or other killers i don't like. If bhvr refuses to acknowledge issues with spirit design and little amount of counterplay she has then players find the another way how to deal with unfun killers

Ok another option someone mentions here LoL so implement ban system so survivors will be able to ban 2 killers. It will be better for everyone including killer players

That's a great idea (eyeroll) - and anyone who has "banned" killers they do not want to face will be pushed further down in the queue - while players who don't do this take priority in matches since they are willing to play the actual game no matter who they are facing. While we are at it - let's have the game push people out who have selected certain maps never to play on as well. So you can have fun playing against Trapper on MacMillan to your hearts content. Oooh and we can have it so you won't face killers who run certain perks too!

  • I never said you didn't make comments about killers at all... What I said was you like to call out survivor mains and do not do the same for killer mains. So you posted a few threads from 5 months - a quick glance at your post history reveals for the past month not one comment about killer mains but....

    survmains.PNG survmains2.PNG survmains3.PNG survmains4.PNG survmains5.PNG

shall we talk aout your history? neh lets not do that, but lets just say i missed you in the group of sh...oops cant say that word they remove it again....but lets get on with your comment, about the role and blah blah....first of all its a game, people play games to have fun...second, the thing that all killers seem to mix up, its your role as a killer to make sure that survivors dont get out the exit gate, not to let them not play the game, a good killer has all survivors on deathhook before the last gen pops, without camping and tunneling....but thats the issue, camping and tunneling and speedruns are the way to go now, outcome is that people dc or die on first hook....weird he

Yes let's discuss my post history. I play 50/50 and call out mains from both sides for their hyperbole and vitriol. I use statistics I have gathered over 5 years of playing this game as the basis for my "opinion." Insinuating someone is in cahoots with BHVR simply because they don't agree with your extremely biased opinion is the epitome of childishness and inanity. Your assumption about my gameplay is so off it is sad. I don't camp. I don't tunnel. I don't use NOED. I don't use Decisive or Deadhard EVER. I don't care about how many kills I get - I care about having fun. Heck some matches I just goof off with Pig and Legion.. so don't come in here assuming you know ANYTHING about how I play. What I stated was factual though - NO ONE has a duty to make sure anyone else has fun in this game aside from themselves. You may not agree with what some people consider fun, but that doesn't matter because you do not get to dictate to anyone how they SHOULD have fun. You have these rules on what you think a killer should and should not do - then go play killer! I don't tell anyone how they should play - you play how you want - you bring whatever perks, items, addons you want - because you paid for the game just like everyone else. If you wanna hide in lockers 90% of the game - knock yourself out. If you want to camp and tunnel - more power to you.

What makes you the authority on how this game SHOULD be played? If you don't like the way people play you can either disconnect, die on hook, or simply stop playing the game. I have over 4k hours in this game and almost all of that I have streamed - to entertain people. I do goofy builds, perkless builds, heck I even have channel redemptions that can make me find the killer and point at them for no frickin reason, channel point redemptions that make me let survivors go or run around letting them boop my snoot - why??? Because that is fun to me. So maybe stop assuming how others play when you have no idea because it simply makes you look even more inane and jaded. So before you decide to "come for" me - I suggest you take a step back and rethink that. You simply are not equipped to have this type of battle of wits and facts with me. Sit down.

  • I believe so - not sure why it wouldn't.

  • My killer stats (2.71/4) are basically the same and my survivor escape rate is up SLIGHTLY (2%).

I played 27 matches yesterday (Each survivor one match). Of those I escaped 16 matches legitimately and given the hatch twice. I don't include the killer GIVING the hatch as an escape in my stats. Prior to grades I was a rank 1 killer and survivor for 4+ years. Do I think I have a high MMR.. prolly on the low end of high for both.

  • I ran it a few matches yesterday and still got good items. You still have the chances of getting a common item with Plunderers (14%).

    Plunder.PNG

  • @toastcrusher said:

Here we go again....same people always defending the same #########....people dont dc or kill themself on the hook because they get hit once or dont like the killer.

THEY dc because they are playing a complete a hole and when you've played long enough its easy to see what kind of killer your dealing with.

And stop with the team bs....your team is facing the same a hole and will find out soon enough....most play solo and when 1 or 2 decide to leave in a match that was ALLREADY going nowhere except for the killers fun, then best be done with it.

who the f do you think you are telling others what kind of games they want to play, instead of trying to blame the outcome, you should focus on the cause.

If this was truely a big problem then BEhaviour should have done something about all the tunneling, camping and other unwanted play style

One look at your post history shows you are a survivor main who refuses to accept other's opinions. Your bias is evident in the majority of your posts.

Survivors DC all the time for a plethora of selfish and immature reasons. That's not to say killers don't also throw temper tantrums and rage DC - they do.

You continually complain that killers don't allow you to have fun - uhh that's not their role. Their only objective is to stop survivors from completing gens any way they can. Generalizing what killers do or don't do is not conducive to an actual conversation. I am prolly one of the least sweatiest killers there is (Never camped or purposefully tunneled anyone) but it is not my job to make sure you have fun or survive. If I am facing an obvious potato - I go easier on them than someone who can loop well etc. BUT again - when push comes to shove - I will sacrifice you to the entity.

Anyways back on topic - I actually wish the DC penalty escalated quicker - keep the first one the same because it can be a hiccup in internet etc - but after that - I say go straight to an hour - then 6 hours - then 24 hours. If people (survivors or killers) wanna throw a temper tantrum and do multiple DCs in a short time - I'll be happy they are blocked from playing for even more time. Better yet would be to implement a salt mine like F13 had - let the people who DC and throw temper tantrums play with one another.

  • No clue why people DC on purpose - seems silly to me. In my chan when someone DCs on purpose a random gif plays to signify their inanity and temper tantrum. Here's a few of the ones that randomly plays - pretty much sums up what I think people who DC on purpose are like:

I‘ve never played F13 but that honestly sounds super fascinating.

We all know how excruciating it is to play a match, snatch up a counselor, and – BAM! – “the host has left” pops up on the screen. It’s annoying. It’s INFURIATING. It’s an issue that players have been experiencing, and telling us about, for a while now.

    :)

  • If you are console - can't you just disable crossplay if you don't want to play with PC players?

I disabled crossplay for around 3 months after several console players would come to my stream afterwards spouting their racism/homophobia. I just assumed this was a function every platform could do?
