Except MANY maps have been kill-switched in the past few months due to inaccessible totems.

Many?? i.e. more than one, or even a couple, so at least three?

Please name these three maps that were kill-switched due to inaccessible totems

You may want to do a modicum of research before trying to come at someone...

Not sure if you have not played the game long or what, but kill-switching is a new(ish) (October 2021) thing which has been used many times for totems and bugged perks. BHVR's apathy and laziness in this situation is astounding and causing an absolute unfair advantage to killers. As a killer I am playing any map offerings I can to avoid this map since BHVR can't be bothered to kill-switch/fix the issue...too bad other players are using this laziness to exploit matches. You can watch YouTubers/Streamers/Fog Whisperers knowingly taking advantage of this "bug" (which they use as an exploit) more and more as the issue goes unresolved. Doing a pretty good job so far BHVR.

Because that's sadly how it goes, until something isn't directly game breaking but it just changes the gameplay they won't kill switch it.

Except MANY maps have been kill-switched in the past few months due to inaccessible totems. It is literally game breaking when survivors cannot at least have a chance to cleanse a totem such as Ruin, Devour Hope, etc. Streamers/Players are running all Hex builds now and doing Haddonfield knowing that at least one of their hexes cannot be cleansed. I get it that the Haddonfield rework was a big part of this mid-chapter, but the indifference and laziness is astounding. I thought the whole point of the kill-switch program was for issues exactly like this....

  • Acknowledged?? Why isn't the map kill-switched?? Had a match today and Devour Hope spawned there! (We cleansed every totem except that one and Devour Hope was still up and visible with the map item). Seriously... this is ridiculous! Other maps are kill-switched due to inaccessible totems - why is the map still live??

  • Funny - I have never NEEDED BBQ & Chili.

  • @JasonS said:

I don't play DBD all that often and so I know when I come back to play the new killer I'll have to grind millions of blood points on other killers until I finally unlock BBQ and Chili on the new one.

How has this issue not been solved yet in the years since Bubba has been released? Either you need to deal with getting half your normal BPs or you just don't get to play the new killer until the RNG decides to hand you the one perk you're looking for.

It keeps getting worse every single patch too! Because more and more perks keep getting added.

Either the perk grind needs to be reduced or there needs to be more perks that offer the same BP bonus that BBQ has (just make them not stack with each other). Preferably both.

"Either you need to deal with getting half your normal BPs" Not getting DOUBLE BP is not the same as getting half your BP. You get your base BP. BBQ & Chili can give you 100% more... not having it does not reduce your BP - just a point of clarification. The same issue applies to survivors if they have not unlocked We're Gonna Live Forever - and it is felt way worse survivor side than it is killer side - as there are more survivor perks to unlock AND survivors on average earn anywhere from 5-15% less BP than killers per match depending on how the match goes.

With that being said: If you want the perks - you play the game. While I do not think BBQ/WGLF should be base kit - I do think that the amount per match should be increased by at least 50% overall - so from a 32k max to a 48k max per match base.

But this game was not made for someone to waste time. It should not be so bad that you have to switch games

Oh FFS - are you being serious??? Switch games?? Because of a 30-60 wait?? Lose the inanity and hyperbole. Putting you on ignore - no time for trolls.

  • @Fobbo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2687316#Comment_2687316

Yeah i have but some people dont have all day to play. People have some stuff to do and have only little time they can spend on a video game

Again... Eyeroll. It is a MAXIMUM of 2 minutes unless someone is on hook; which is not the complaint here since then you would be defending the hook. I am betting the average is more like 30-45 seconds. If you are going to complain about that I would hate to see what other things you do not have time for - yet spend hours playing a video game.

End game collapse wasn't even a thing before April 2019 and survivors could literally hold the game hostage for 10-20-30 minutes. If you don't have 45 seconds "to waste" you may want a different game that doesn't have others who can stop it for.. SECONDS! Stop the inanity!

  • I have no issues going against SWFs - I like the challenge. Just because 2-3-4 people are playing together does not mean they are good - I have ran into PLENTY of potato SWFs. Conversely I have ran into some amazing solo queue players. Generalizing the skills of a group is just that - a generalization.

  • Sure - just as soon as survivors can run a perk that when hit the killer loses their addons :)

I hope you give the same advice to anyone complaining about getting bled out for 4 minutes or camped for 2.

I do. You think I haven't been slugged for 4 minutes or camped numerous times (mainly by Bubbas)?

It's a game. I just chalk it up to SDE and move on. I have never purposefully DC'd either... because that's a childish reaction.

If I am camped I hang in there as long as possible so the other survivors can do as much gen work as possible.

If left to bleed out... I just do other stuff online: YT, TikTok, Twitter, etc etc

It's really not that big of a deal... but I know - this is the forums where hyperbole and blowing stuff out of proportion is the status quo.

  • Conversely; since flashlights are the only item that survivors bring that require any skill - why do a lot of killers get tilted by them? Blinding the killer can be fun and helpful, but if you read these forums - a lot of killers think they are toxic and should be nerfed/changed. I mean there are "Blind the killer" challenges - I have yet to see a "Down the same survivor immediately off the hook" challenge though.

If nothing else "go do something else whilst you wait for people to stop ######### about and end the game already" is a waste of time. What if I want to queue for the next game? This one's over.

Eyeroll. Oh no you have to wait 1-2 minutes what ever will you do???

  • Why do you let something so trivial bother you? Letting other people live rent free in your head is silly.

    Go grab a drink...use the restroom...watch a YT video...

Seriously - stop letting the inane actions of a few bother you so much in an online game - it serves no purpose.

I believe myself to be among the default, as I have thousands of hours played since 2016, I have a good idea of what is logic speak and what is whining. My thoughts are very much on the same page as top streamers who have 5-10k hours under their belt. Based on that, I believe I have a good idea of "what the community thinks".

If I were a random Joe that picked up the game through Epic Game Store, You can discredit me all you want. But not in my case :) I have played both sides aprox equally over the years (always solo on one end even). So I'd like to believe I have a good idea where the games balance is at.

If you disagree with that, that is your right. But I am telling you you are wrong ;)

I have over 4k hours and you most definitely do not speak for me as a player or a Twitch Partner. You may THINK you know what the community believes, but you have no way of knowing. But yes - please keep speaking for others - it shows off your narcissism and hyperbolic thought process.

  • @xili84 said:

I do agree that it seems highly sus that they now give the game away for free on EPIC, when the Communities trust in the devs is at its lowest it has ever been.

First of all, I will be the first guy to criticize SWF heavily, you can check my post history for that ;) But to call it "cheating" is a bit too much. What I call it is "Heavy abuse of all the advantages they get thrown in their lap" :) It does feel like cheating sometimes though, as there is nothing you can do about it.

Psst you do not speak for the community - you only speak for yourself. There is no way to get any type of ACCURATE data on what the COMMUNITY thinks; especially from the forums.

I don't get why you people keep twisting my post into something it's not. You're basically just mocking someone for asking. Stop being a numb skull and look at the post and stop skimming through them if that's what you're doing.

Oh I read your post - twice actually; because I was shocked at the level of self-entitlement you exhibited.

Great. Wait I don't see a button for that... Looks like I am forced.

Are you being dense on purpose? There is nothing that forces you to do the Rift challenges.. nothing. If you want stuff in the Rift - do the Rift - if you don't... guess what - you don't have to do the challenges.

You can ignore the Rift just like you can ignore the Store - it is called self-control. From your posts you are coming across as a self-entitled victim a lot.

  • @TheDarkTyrant said:

Can we just get rid of rifts? They are completely pointless as the only exclusive parts are the charms which no one cares for. The only ones I ever cared for were licensed. So Left 4 Dead. Other than that they are just a waste of resources. The skins come out shortly after and even the ones people paid for on the paid track after being resold but now in the store are just available for shards now which is kinda dumb. Makes the entire major point of the rifts... Pointless!

Or you could just... not do them. You are not forced to do them so... don't.

  • Psst Grade is not rank. Grade is more a reflection of amount played and has no bearing on skill.

  • Do you hear yourself??

I want it so give it to me free.

I want a new Jeep.. I know other people can afford them, but I can't and I really want the 2021 version which is going away so Jeep should just send me one for free.

I can afford ground beef, but I really want ribeye steak and that guy just bought the second to last one so I should get the last one for free!

    Seriously??

The entitlement in your post is astounding. I don't care if you collect DLCs and that is your passion. If it is something you really enjoy doing - then do it according to your financial means. Sometimes we do not get what we want in life... get used to it. It has been widely known that these DLCs were going away for months - if it was TRULY that important you would have bought them since you state you have bought soo many other DLCs. Sometimes in life we cannot afford the shiny things we want - that is reality.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/191659/medkits-are-broken

But fixing bugs on a product people have already purchased isn't going to net them more cash...

No but it will lose them future sales if those players quit out of frustration due to bugs.

  • Multiple medkits have done this to me the past 2 weeks.

Also happening to toolboxes. Tried to get 4 sabos with Alex's Toolbox (6 charges for each hook) with 24 charges - and it emptied 1 charge short of my 4th sabotage.

This has been going on for weeks - if you can't reproduce and fix this yourselves - not sure what that says about your in-house testing/procedures.

  • I had 47 Hawkins on my main survivor and prolly between the rest of my survivors and killers another 75 or so.

    I got 100k.

Friend of mine had exactly 19 on ALL her killers and survivors total - she got 600k.

    Seems legit.

    (eyeroll)

  • Toxic - one of the most overused words on these forums.

If you are on PC - disable end game chat

If you are on console - only accept msgs from friends.

Nasty Steam comments...make your profile private or disallow comments.

Allowing others to say mean/hateful/bigoted things to you when there are tools already in place to prevent this... is on you.

  • Soul Guard + Unbreakable.

    You're welcome.

  • Lithe is my preferred exhaustion perk and I run it probably 95% of the time. If I am not running Lithe I am probably using Sprint Burst.

  • Uhhhh - do you even understand what Grades and SBMM matchmaking is?

I know you are only level 40, but do a modicum of research into games you play and try to stay up to date on changes.

SBMM has been active almost 2 months in DBD (September 8, 2021).

  • @DatFastBoi said:

At low mmr yes, but it’s debatable at high mmr. I personally use it despite running against comp teams because I like the information it provides, and I use it with infectious fright to get slugs and pressure

Comp teams huh?? Well considering the vast majority of comp teams don't team in regular matches I find that interesting. Which comp teams are you facing regularly? Would love to see some vids of you facing these comp teams in regular matchmaking outside of actual competitions.

  • Gens

    Chases

    Unhooks

    Heals

    Cleansing totems

    Blessing boon totems (soon)

Hiding in lockers is not an objective UNLESS you are going for a stun with Head On, using it to heal yourself with Inner Strength, using it with the perk Red Herring, or using it to craft a Flash Bang. Hiding in lockers is a tactic to avoid BBQ & Chili.

  • Actually boon totems were something asked for by both sides. Survivors wanted "hexes" like killers and killers wanted something to "waste" survivor time so gens wouldn't go as fast. Tada - Boon totems.

A HUD rework was asked for quite often in player satisfaction surveys, twitter, and even the forums.

As far as animations - it's called evolution. Don't be surprised when newer animations for healing come into the game as well.

ONE thing that you mentioned is worked on by the same team responsible for assisting with game balance - boon totems - which again were something asked for either deliberately or inadvertently by the community.

  • Meh - as killer I don't care what perks a survivor uses - nor do I care as survivor what perks a killer uses. A lot of perks - killer/survivor alike are "un-counterable" - but that doesn't cause me apprehension when playing either role. That would be like saying Tinkerer is counterable by simply never getting a gen to 70%. Bitter Murmur - don't finish gens! I realize the forums LOVE to pit one side against another with vitriol and hyperbole, but "un-counterable" perks are on each side.

  • I play both sides 50/50 and still am having fun after just over 4200 hours in game. I haven't played as much the past 2 weeks BUT that is because I have been playing a lot of New World since it launched (13 days ago).

  • I think if Chucky were a killer in DBD he wouldn't carry survivors - I think he would drag them. To me Chucky dragging a survivor by the leg or arm makes WAY more sense than him carrying someone. Chucky is only 29 inches tall - there is no way he could put a survivor on his shoulder and look remotely plausible.

  • You keep saying RANK - they are not ranks - they are GRADES and have NOTHING to do with your matchmaking. Nobody has a rank any more.

All GRADES represent is time played since the 13th of the previous month. You are being matched against players who have shown a higher level of skill against whichever killer you are playing; whether they are Ash, Silver, Bronze, Gold, or Iri GRADE - their SBMM is similar to yours. For your own sanity just completely ignore the grades in the end screen.

  • Best advice I can give you - be aware of time. Do not spend too much time chasing one survivor - you will lose multiple gens very quickly if you don't learn to abandon chases. Since you have played survivor some - you have some idea of loops that are good to use against a killer - so don't fall into those traps as a killer.

  • No. While he is not one of my top 3 mains - I would say I play him regularly. I tried him on PTB and didn't have much of a change in tactics or kill rate. I still had a blast with him the 6 games I played him on the PTB.

  • @GamerEzra said:

How would you describe the DBD community in one word or sentence?

The DBD community - Overall pretty good

The DBD forum community - The opposite of the DBD community.

  • I generally just go for two hooking the remaining survivors.

  • I'll keep playing killer, but thanks for your suggestion (eyeroll).

  • @GlamourousLeviathan said:

I mean, if most killers prefer to infinitely dodge lobbies and spend 30 minutes in a queue instead of going against SWF then I guess it is an indicator that there is a problem with that on the first place.

Except MOST killers don't do that.

  • Because I have fun.

4,000+ hours and still enjoying almost every match - there are some duds here and there, but the fun ones far outweigh those.

  • Former red rank for 4+ years and current Iri 1 grade killer.

I main Doctor, Pig, and Legion. My kill rate after 100+ matches with SBMM on is 2.5/4 average. I mostly get 2/3k's some 4ks, very few 1ks, and have yet to get a 0k since SBMM went Live.

I played every killer one match recently (9/20 & 9/21 due to Steam going down midway through) and had a blast! I got a 3k on Hawkins with Billy which had me LOL'ing because that has to be one of his worst performing maps (This was the 5th or 6th time I played Billy total). Got a 4k as Hag on Coldwind - came down to the last 30 seconds, but I got it!

Oh btw - there are 25 killers.

  • If you are being harassed - as are your friends on Steam - you can take actions to limit this by making your Steam profile private. You can also disable end game chat. Doing both of these will eliminate what you have described.

  • Sloppy Butcher

    Thanatophobia

    Lethal Pursuer

    Oppression

I have a lot of fun with this as an alt build on Legion.

  • ROFL people using comp matches as their basis for public match experience. ROFLMAO!

  • When I hit the first READY button it can take me 15 seconds to 3.5 mins to find a lobby. In that time I may be doing one or more of the following things:

    Grabbing a drink

    Eating something

    Doing stream shout outs

    Running to the restroom

    Answering Discord msgs

FYI @Gens_Before_Friends you said "if survivors do not ready up by 6 seconds left. I leave the lobby." and then you said "I only been able to get into a game maybe every 20-30 minutes because every lobby has someone not readying up." - Your wait is 100% self-imposed. Maybe stop being so afraid of items and paranoid that people are out to quick-switch. If items scare you that much - run Franklins because - people who don't bring anything usually check chests and you may end up facing items you are afraid to face any ways.

Personally I don't care what items survivors bring or if they quick switch. I rarely take Franklin's and just try my best to work around them - win or lose.

  • LOL. Oh you're serious? No.

  • Considering this is not a wide spread issue - Have you posted your issue in the technical issues forum? Posting your rants in the General Forum is not going to do you much good. If you are getting that many disconnects per day there is an issue that you are having that is not affecting the vast majority of players.

Posting your rant in ALL CAPS is not conducive to others actually reading it and frankly makes you look a bit juvenile.

  • @Zender said:

Not for the better it seems, I can't go one game without at least one of the following:

    1) Survivor DCs ruining the game for their team.

    2) First hook suicides .... waaah I got hooked first I'm out.

    3) Hackers, blatant and in your face now.

    4) Potato teammates or absolute sweat lord killers who revel in being petty (i.e. the huntress that let me to bleed out with other three dead, I'm on death hook, and there are 3 gens left).

    5) left to die on my first hook by my teammates (see #4).

    6) facecamping bubba, facecamping trickster, true tunnelers as well. I mean you get unhooked with BT, they hit you, they continue to chase, they down you, get hit with DS, still keep coming until they kill you.

What happened to this game in the last 90 days? Seems so different now, the fun vibe is gone.

EDIT: this is the forums from hell, I expect the prototypical responses of git gud, take a break, but I'm having fun, etc. Is it wrong to want more from a game I used to enjoy a lot more?

Except these things have been happening for years. Aside from disconnects - I rarely have to deal with any of the other issues.

1 2 3 4 … 22
