That is what I am saying in the comment the killer is the one who gets to pick the map and the only way survivors can pick the map is through map offerings while the killer always has a chance to get a map that they choose.
that sounds pretty like it would be annoying for survivors and I think the devs refrain from changes that would annoy ~80% of the player base

It's kinda funny that even though Series X prices are through the roof, it's still cheaper than a good PC.
Define "good"
I'm pretty sure you could get a PC with superior hardware for a lower price.

thing is though this will probably just lead to potato games, which are still not fun, but at least not stressful

Good luck, I re-installed 3x this week :(

Ruin, undying, corrupt, Marvin's blood. Get your t2 in the first chase and hardcore camp your first hook while zombies soft pressure gens with ruin. This is the Nemesis meta in EU. It works too.
This, a few people have mentioned its difficult to tier up, and Marvin's Blood will make this much easier as you get to tier 2 off just 2 hits (I think)

Killer isn't that difficult. Make good decisions, run a good build, play efficiently/well, and you'll win the vast majority of your games.
Most killers I play against fail at the basics or spend an eternity chasing one survivor while the easiest 4 gen set up of their life gets broken. The game hands killers a gen lock on many maps. Suffo Pit or Azarovs? Literally never cross the map. Play one side of it and you have a 4k.
I keep hearing how MMR has made the game unplayable and aside from the odd edge case here and there, the game isn't that much harder now than it was before. There aren't that many actual death squads out there. Nothing that even approaches comp game speed.
Oh great, 2 out of 37 maps are easy to 4-gen on.

Solo Q is still mad easy.
I play Solo and Killer - 50/50 (probably more Solo due to challenges).
I usually get 20k+ and an escape (escape ~60% of the time).
I'm assuming you know, but most people actually switch off from killer to survivor because it is way less demanding/stressful (requires less mechanical skill, time management, etc).
There's a few people in this thread that post the same things in every topic - Just because they say it a lot doesn't mean it holds any weight at all.
Agree 100%.
I used to pretty much play only Killer but thats drifted now to about half and half to, so I could totally see why someone would just make the switch completely.
I also could name multiple streamers who used to stream Killer mainly, but for some reason (I wonder why), are now complete survivor mains. Not only that, but they'll act very toxic as well (probably because it gets views), which is just pathetic if you ask me.

According to who?
SoloQ survivor gives you less control of the match. You can’t force others to be team players and that is precisely what you need to complete your objective.
I would rather play killer than SoloQ. This is why many people start playing survivor and quickly switch to killer.
Oh and secondly, my post you responded to is currently on 26 upvotes, which aint too bad, so not just according to me apparently!

Yes it is always the case at night. It's just a bit of a shame that daytime = absolute stomping 4Ks at 5gens, and then night time is an absolute sweat fest if I even want to get a single kill :(

I wouldn't say survivor sided. But definitely you are more pressured to get kills than you are to complete gens throughout most of the game.
It makes killer feel lackluster and survivor feel a bit too safe. Which kindas goes against the whole theme of the game.
Yep I agree. To be fair its probably hard to have a game that is "horror" that you play all the time, even if survivor was scary at first, when its a game you are playing 2-5 hours a day, its gonna become normal. Ideally the game wouldn't be "stressful" for either party, but I agree its very odd that playing the hunter is such a nightmare compared to the hunted.

Dowsey is low key one of the best killer mains streaming. He doesn’t really do a good job of attention grabbing with his skills, but he’s very consistent. He also recently switched to posting 100% of his content to YouTube now. Brave leap dropping Twitch like that.
If you want a criticism of his playstyle, he refuses to play killers he does not like, and does not do build requests. So he’s not challenging himself the way Tru3 and Otz do. Still he’s incredibly consistent at killer.
Another criticism is he gets impatient with the chat often enough to notice, resulting in negative vibes. Off putting, and he doesn’t bring the energy back up when he falls into one of these moods.
Still plays very effectively and walks the viewers through his thought processes really well.
Great review, I agree with pretty much everything you said.

Depends on the killer and the players, tbh.
I've seen teams use Old Ormond offerings...only to return defeated.
Yeah true, I've had games with offerings which ended up being very easy. Sometimes you forget that new players are in the game, and it might be an innocent potato survivor who didn't even know what Strode Realty Key is.
Just the bad memories from SWF are so long its hard not to react to the offering

Ah, yes. Holding M1 for a couple of minutes, after you've already run the killer for a couple of minutes, yet your teammates do nothing. You don't play solo queue very often to even acknowledge the issues within it.
No I do. I'm good at Killer, so by extension, I know how to loop most Killers. So I'd put myself above average as a Solo Survivor, and I already acknowledged in an earlier post that Solo Q has issues
I feel like I escape MOST of my games as Solo Q survivor, I don't want to put a number on it but above or around 50% seems about right.
Even if you do loop the Killer before/after doing gens, it is still not that stressful, IMO. If I'm running Windows/DH and I'm anywhere near a safe loop, I feel like a 30 second+ chase is guaranteed at this point, with little to no effort.
-
@Shirtless_Myers said:

Meanwhile, in solo queue, you'll need to do 3+ generators every single match while your teammates ignore the objective, run around without a purpose, and sandbag you whenever caught.
yeah but doing 3 generators is holding M1 for a couple of minutes so thanks for proving my point it is less stressful

Depends on the map. IMO they should have never added map offerings and just left it up to RNG to determine. But it works both ways, if I see an SWF thats clear and blatantly trolling from the lobby I'll throw on an RPD map just out of spite.
lol good idea, might try that one. Probably would backfire on me though as I'm not great at the map, but as long as no one is having fun lol
-
@GeneralV said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2642154#Comment_2642154
Why tho?
Map offerings are alright.
because I find the game to already be survivor sided, so when I'm playing against a team who also wants to select the map (and then no doubt tailor all their perk builds to the map) I just find it to be very... dishonourable I guess.
Not to mention map offerings are fundamentally broken with SWF because a team can just rotate through their offerings which a single Killer cannot match the pace of with the offering to block map offerings.

For killer it depends on whether you play against SWF or not. Whenever I play against soloQ survivors as a Wraith, I steamroll them. It just so happens that you mostly see SWF in matches. For example, out of my last 19 killer games I recorded 14 had confirmed SWF (proven by their friend lists) and not a single game was against 4 confirmed solo players. SoloQ are a dying breed, and for a good reason.
Solo Q is a dying breed yeah. I can still get an instant game as a Killer though, and takes a few minutes to get a game as a Survivor.
So what do you think is the real dying breed?

Bruh....did you even read his post?
Thats what we don't want to happen. More people leaving killer isn't a good thing, it just means survivor queues go up, and less skilled killers enter the pool of MMR to replace them. All I do is solo queue survivor, and I gotta say...its probably easier than its ever been. This isn't a sign of accomplishment, its a sign of failure. Before if you were a solo queue survivor in high ranks, you could pretty much just write this game off as you are pretty much a god at this point. Now, its like BOOST city. You don't need skill to play survivor at all anymore....which is absolutely insane to even be real.....but it is. Look at the state of the world and its a clown show, look at the state of this game and its still the same clowns?!?? How even did this happen...
My survivor escape rate is about 90% unless I get a bunch of boosted andy's goofing around and dying on first hook or DC's. And Gen rushing is so easy you don't even need gen speed perks to end the game before the killer has time to hook 3 people.
Its a joke. So much so that the idea and audacity they had to even add MMR makes the joke stop being funny....
Honestly the forum is such a joke at this point, you can post a 1000 word block of text and you'll still get an instant "but what about Solo Q" response from someone who clearly didn't read and just wants to push their agenda.

Yeah very often if you think you should, and don't, you do regret it. I guess I have some respect for the people that have tags in their name, because at least they are presenting the fact they are teamed up. Typically those types of SWF will play well but will also play in a non-toxic manner.

Maybe not as "stressful" since you chill at the gen 90% of the time, but it can be much more frustrating, and definitely more of a joke most of the time. When you play killer, you get upset when you don't get 4k, but when you play soloQ survivor, you don't even hope to escape.
Not at all. I am happy with a 2K against a good team.
But against a good team, the effort to even get a 1K is exhausting. If you're not playing a Killer that isn't A tier or you are not very familiar with, then don't even try.
Hell, even against potato+ survivors who barely know how to loop, the game can be mildly aggravating if they just happen to get a good set up and split on gens.
Solo Queue can be frustrating yeah. But it's more of a "why do I bother" depression, whereas Killer is more, "Imma legit start losing hair" stress levels

I can't think another online game that has a bad dc penalty system as DbD. The DC penalty system should erase over time due to good behaviour. People shouldn't have to wait for days for DC penalty to reduce. Currently I should either not play or be lucky to not disconnect from a match for 5 straight days for DC penalty time to completely go away. (6hrs->1hr->30min->15min->5min) This is a very stupid design.
6 hours is a bit extreme though. I'll be honest, I'm a fan of the odd cheeky D/C here and there, but it's never got above like 30 minutes. You can't really blame the steam downtime if you had already accrued D/Cs up to that time bracket!
(Also generally steam downtimes are planned, so you could actually plan around them.

I'd assume most streamers win most of their games tbh. Killer mains I have enjoyed watching are ScottJund and Otz but you probably already heard of them?

Do the forums not have a feedback section? I would leave but these pesky notifications.
Feedback section makes sense for some specific feedback, but for a general post like this, which might cover a broad range of issues, I think "General Discussions" is fine.
Also, all of the OPs reasons for leaving have already been identified as an issue and widely discussed. So a post like this makes less sense in the feedback forums, if you ask me.

I don't care if OP quits. What does that have to do with me being on the forums? We get enough of these posts everyday.
If we get multiple of these posts everyday, then I suppose it shows you that there are plenty of people who feel that way, and probably more that don't care.
I mean if someone new joined, this is the place for them to ask questions. I think it also makes sense this is the place people can post before they leave and sign off, but then you get people like you that wanna give 'em a last bit of toxicity before they leave the DBD community

You get one of those in like 1000 matches.
Dude 1 gen popping for a 3 minute chase isn't bad. Even potato survivors can pop 1 gen in 3 minutes.
-
Did you win most of your games?
-
@Marigoria said:
Killers will camp a survivor at 4 gens because they let one gen pop after chasing that survivor for 3 minutes and will say the camping was justified because of "genrush".
Survivors can be, and a lot of times are toxic, but their toxicity at least doesn't stop you from playing the game. Killers have way more power in terms of being toxic than survivors do.
Sure, teabagging and clicking their flashlight is annoying, but you can still chase them, hit them, hook them etc.
You can't do much about tunneling and camping and end up with almost no points.
This is incorrect and you've just basically admitted you have never played Killer at high MMR.
If your first chase takes THREE MINUTES then you are now at 2 gens, not 4 gens.
So someone having a 3 minute chase and only having 1 gen pop is just not even close to a realistic scenario against good survivors.

This is the first time I've ever seen anyone imply that Twins is more fun to face than the Huntress.

That's already an issue faced on the survivor side. The answer remains the same - BHVR can't police an external platform and it's a risk you take when you advertise your stream in-game.
For the large streamers it's not a case of advertising the stream in game. Whatever they set their name to, they have a large amount of people watching them so they will be aware (although I suppose you could blur name? Never seen it done though)
Let's be honest, stream sniping one survivor (given there is 4) gives a lot less info than stream sniping the one and only killer.
Not to mention a stream sniping survivor can also be on Comms, and hence give the advantage to another 4 players.
Not that I'm condoning stream sniping on either side, but I don't think it's equivalent

But then again, do you want to run a Perk to detect Totems? Like Small Game or Counterforce? I would not waste a Perk Slot on something which might become completely useless if nobody is using Boons.
No, but I didn't mention a perk, nor did OP. Perhaps boons themselves could have a mechanic which makes them easier to find, something like a 30 second periodic directional noise, which you can hear from any range, to at least give you a vague direction.
BTW before people start going off on one saying they don't like the 30 second directional noise idea, it's just a quick example to illustrate how boons could have this discoverability mechanism without requiring a perk.

Maybe you should increase your volume or clean your ears. They are pretty easy to hear.
They are pretty easy to here, if you are already in the vicinity of them. OP is obviously asking for a way to locate (at least by a vague area) them from a long distance, so the sound they make within short range is irrelevant.
Hope that makes sense to you now

Could be a reason they haven’t done it, who knows?
Feels to me like its quite a complex system to develop so would take a lot of the devs time up I think. Just based on the amount of bugs we see on each Killer/mechanic release, I would just think they don't have the time and QA capabilities to get something like that done. I'd love to be proven wrong though.
There's a few ways to do it though, I mentioned about expensive storage earlier, I suppose it doesn't have to be literal videos saved, but if they save all the control inputs of all players, then they can literally "replay" the match with the engine, and the moves are much smaller to store as it is basically text.
I'm assuming that is how the Halo/CoD theatre modes worked if you remember these.

@dugman said:
Yeah, this is a popular request. The devs have mentioned it I think in dev chats as one of those things they like but think that because there are reasonable third party programs to record your games it’s not a high priority to develop their own internal system.
Personally I think they should have a replay system internally that saves game replays automatically for a limited time on their server, and then attaches those replays to ingame tickets from those games. That would ensure every ticket always has a corresponding replay file for reference, taking that burden off the player to know how to record them and to manually record all their own games on the off chance an abuse occurs. It seems like that would be a boon for customer service probably. (I’m assuming they don’t have such a system since they still require manual uploads of video files to review ingame abuse tickets.)
I think it'd quite expensive to run that system, video files are huge and the storage would stack up pretty quickly if you are recording every single game, even if you only held the data for half an hour.

@Blueberry said:
It isn't necessarily the actions themselves that get to you as much as it is the fact that they're able to do them and get away with it because the games imbalance allows them to.
In another game that is a shooting game for example. A guy tbags you but you're able to get him back for it if you're skilled enough. IE you have a problem but there's something you can do about it.
In DBD they can tbag you, but bar some exceptions you can be much more skilled then them and still not be able to get him back for it because of the games poor balance. IE you have a problem but there's nothing you can do about it.
The real thing getting to you as a killer here isn't the action, but the helplessness to do anything about it.
This!
I remember playing Halo back in the day, if someone has the ability to repeatedly beat you in firefights, AND take the time to teabag your corpse in between killing the rest of your teammates, they have to actually be legitimately good at the game to do that.
Someone teabagging me on Halo 3 NEVER annoyed me to the extent it does on DBD, and it is for this reason. You earn your teabags on Halo 3.
On DBD you just get the sense some people like the feeling of winning and/or having the upper hand, and only play this game because of the unfair advantage it gives them. This is why, quite often, the ones who teabag relentlessly will D/C as soon as the game turns in your favour, or they will usually be long gone by the post game lobby, as the game didn't go there way.
