Killers have wanted this for ages. Doubt it will happen as people would cry about facing swf if they knew for sure
I disagree, I think there are probably less SWF (at least 4 man SWF) than people think, so you'd get less people crying about SWF whenever they lose, and more people actually realising that they got bested by a Solo Q or partial SWF and just could have played better

So this whole Twitter teaser thing going on rn is stupid. In my personal opinion (ik, scary) I think it is the worst way they have ever teased a chapter. Let me explain why I dislike it.
1. It's scattered
There isn't any way of knowing what letters or what symbols go in what order. This could be fun but come out more annoying because it's only once or twice a day we get a new letter. It's such a slow process that all excitement I had has now become irritation because I know I'm gonna have to wait another day before a new letter comes out.
2. It isn't quirky
This isn't fun, or quirky like you really think it is BHVR. Teasing alot of different hyped characters and not releasing any of them is a great way to kill your game. All I'm saying is that it better be a licensed killer or I'm going to be really upset.
3. BHVR clearly doesn't know how to do stuff like this
Look, trying new things is fine I don't want to discourage that, I just want it to be done in a better fashion. Releasing cryptic teasers followed by "CATS AND DOGS COLLECTION LOL GIVE US YOUR WALLET" is a really dumb thing to do.
In conclusion, I am okay that BHVR tried this, all I ask is that they never do it again. Now that most people say springtrap is off the list the whole point of it is just kind of stupid. If it was springtrap being released (I don't really want to talk about fnaf, I'm just giving my thoughts) that would be a great way to do it, since Scott Cawthon used to make teasers like this. They still would've handled it poorly, but it would've been a neat homage. But since it probably isn't, BHVR is now just being annoying, giving us stupid teasers that have no meaning whatsoever. Pls BHVR, just stop this and never do it again.
"There isn't any way of knowing what letters or what symbols go in what order. "
Uh, lol bro thats kind of the puzzle part, knowing what order to put the letters in

And how is it not a waste of the killer's time as well? Unless you count wandering without purpose (aka getting anywhere near your objective) over the idyllic maps in game a meaningful activity.
Well the Killer chose to D/C, obviously the whole game was a waste of their time, but in that moment, they want to quit the game anyway. It's more unfair on the survivors as they had their time wasted and it wasn't their choice. Also there's 4 survivors to 1 killer so its 4x more time wasted.
How could you even argue that its as much of a waste of the killers time, it was their choice lol
-
Obviously its not ideal, but if some rank 15 Killer just got looped for 3 gens on a map which someone brought (e.g. Haddonfield) whilst getting teabagged and blinded, I can definitely understand. The best thing to do in that situation is just stand in a corner though.
If someone D/Cs when they are getting fairly beaten by someone much better than them, it's not ideal as its a waste of the survivors time, plus its experience the Killer is missing out on, playing against experienced loopers.

-
I'm not even sure if it is looked down upon, you see more survivors bringing offerings for maps than you see Killers doing it (could be due to the fact theres 4 survivors for 1 killer in every game), so to me it seems the community as a whole do not look down on survivors bringing maps, as its so prevalent.
But as you pointed out OP, a Killer usually does so to make some build work, and quite often its for meme-y builds too. Unless its something like impossible skill check Doctor on a small map, or no power Oni on an indoor map, which can be oppressive, but how often do you see those builds, in comparison to someone bringing Haddonfield or a Coldwind map, simply because they are generally survivor sided maps.
-
"I have matches as a survivor where I don`t even see the killer until the final gen is up"
Yep very true. I'd like to see new game modes and something to mix it up, rather than just continuing adding Killers and perks which usually don't change the game in any groundbreaking way. But the last few updates don't make me think that is going to be the case.
-
Probably more updates which just add new Killers/perks rather than fixing the massive balancing issues present in the game, or adding something significant like a new game mode or large new set of maps. O wait...
Already uninstalled twice this week so might stay off for a good while now.

No, I referred to them as joke characters. When you make a character that is purposefully bad compared to the rest of the roster, its typically referred to as a joke character. Yes, you can win if you play as Dan from street fighter or Mokap in Mortal kombat... but only if the opponent is just significantly less skilled.
But obviously BHVR aren't making characters that are purposefully bad. They're introducing Killers based on the mechanics they can technically add to the game and also decided by what they think will be fun to play. Some of these will end up good and some less good, obviously if you compare the Spirits power with Trappers power, they have different potential

If you want to handicap yourself with a weaker character, theres plenty of ways to do that with perks and addons rather than hoping the devs create a joke character. BurgerKing Myers and no-blink Nurse is already a thing if you wanna do that. You can also play perkless and addonless.
No part of my post said that any of the characters are joke characters, or that I want to see more joke characters. I was responding to the absurd and impossible request that all Killers should have exactly the same strength.
-
@Ruma said:
There shouldnt be weaker or stonger killers in the game.
EVERYONE should be equally strong.
Why? Someone might want to play the game and have an easier time, someone might want a challenge. It'd be difficult to have all the Killers the same strength when their powers are vastly different. Different strengths of Killers is an inevitable outcome of having Killers with lots of variety in their powers.
-
Even if you are playing without perks etc. you should still be able to find survivors and have at least a few chases in a game. Also often I've found in games where gens fly by, Survivors will stick around for chases even when the gates are prepared etc, as they are in no real danger if there's still 4 survivors alive at 0 gens with not many hooks.
You'll lose a lot of games, but if you just focus on chases and learning maps, and don't assume you're just going to 4K every game like you would against green ranks, then you will only get better over time.
You can also watch twitch streamers to learn tricks and tips, specifically try and find a streamer who mains the Killer you are interested in, but obviously you also need to play the game yourself.
-
Actually I just finished a game and noticed the daily ritual is now at like 90% (for healing 3 survivors) so I'm now assuming yes

Really not many killers have teachables that synergise with their power like there is trapper who only really agitation synergises with, wraiths are all kinda awful and dont synergise all that well imo, billy has tinkerer which definetly is a synergy and an arguement can be made for enduring, all of nurses one are pretty good with her, huntresses once agan are all useless and dont really synergise with her at all, PWYF and STBFL do kinda synergise with myers, hag obviouslys the are all hexes and hag excels at hexs but really they dont synergise with he too much ruin does benefit hag as much as other killers and the same can be said about 3rd seal, doctor is weird it would seem like his do synergise but monitor is pretty detrimental in his power as most of the time you wont be blasting in chase and it gets rid of a decent chunk of range out of chase and it also lessens the area of overwhelming, Bubba has 2 m1 perks, Freddy is all endgame which i guess could be considered some kind of a synergy since he is weaker at the endgame with no gens to TP, Pigs are all suited for a high mobility killer, clowns dont synergise either as phasmamain said, spirit I guess the info from haunted and rancor is useful and exposed ir reallys useful to spirit, Legion only really discordance synergies with his power, plague is probably the best example of the perks synergising with a snowball perk and an early game perk, GF thrilling is reallys best for high mobility but IAE does give him some help in the chase which he needs and then furative does jack ######### cause its furative, I guess demos kinda work he is definitely better at dealing with pallets than windows and he m1s people fairly often and he kinda has some surprise with his portals and the devs really wanting to make him a stealth killer. Oni well thats the whole point of this post,.Slinger all of his perks like work on him but are much better suited to a killer with better mobility like the perks arent bad on him but so many killers would use all of his perks way better than him. PH trail is kinda ehh he can defend it with his power so I guess thats one, deathbound is useless PH does not need long range info and forced penance is also pretty useless. Blight he doesnt m1 that much and 2 of his perks relying on m1s. Twins' perks are just a mess they dont synergise at all. Trickster also doesnt get much use of his perks starstruck when he has a 24m terror radius and he isnt any stronger at endgame but I guess crowd control kinda synergises because he is better at pallets than windows. I havent played nemmy so I cant say much abt that
Your point on Plague's perks synergizing, basically Corrupt and Infectious are two of the strongest perks in the game, so for that reason they "synergize" with pretty much every Killer.
But agreed with your general examples, the vast majority of Killers do not really synergize with their perks, and pretty much every Killer's perks can be argued to work better with another Killer.

Cannibal: I think it’s hubris to believe that even the best of the best of ANY killer never find themselves in situations where using M1 is more ideal than using their power. With LF it means Knockout & Franklin’s compensate him for circumstances he’s better off using the mallet rather than the chainsaw.
Twins: Charlotte isn’t always going to have access to Victor, or can be in situations where using Victor is appropriate. Coup De Grâce gives Charlotte a little something up her sleeve in these scenarios. Oppression is simple. If Charlotte gets a failed skill check notification, she knows exactly where to send Victor next.
I said "ideally" the Cannibal will be getting downs with his chainsaw, I didn't say all the time, so it's not hubris lol.. Against good loopers you have to take the M1s where you can, but the Cannibal is all about getting quick downs with his Chainsaw. I'm simply pointing out that having a perk which encourages you to down people with M1s is going against the very nature of Cannibals power. Which is exactly your point with Oni and his perks, correct? Therefore, my point is, Oni is not unique in that he has perks which don't gel with his power.
In the case of Oni, his perks simply suck compared to most other perks, they don't really go well with any Killer. Nemesis has very specific use alongside PWYF, and you might see Blood Echo being used in very niche builds playing around exhaustion (or its good with Killers who can keep lots of people injured, like Legion)
I agree with you in that I think it would be nice if the teachables of each Killer complimented their power, however the obvious issue here is this constrains the design of both the power and the perks for new Killers. It is easier to introduce whatever perks the dev might want to introduce, in order to shake up the meta across ALL Killers, if they don't also have to design each new perk around the new Killers power (and vice versa).
So that is probably the reason why you will see a lot of Killers have perks which don't necessarily make sense on them.

I mean... Killer Instinct reveals survivors in Lockers. The faster opening is a bonus.
Other than that, I think the core idea of Legions perks were to address some highly complained about issues killers had about survivor behaviour at the time
Yeah but the fact the killer instinct reveals survivors in the lockers makes lockers less effective against Legion, and therefore I think good survivors are less likely to use lockers against him for this reason anyway. You can use a locker to juke Legion by jumping into it if you time it right and he is just about to run out of his power and misses the last frenzy hit, but I'd doubt tbh if BHVR had future locker jukes in mind when they added this perk.
Your second sentence here is key I think, Legions perks were created to address issues in the meta, they were not added to make sense with Legion, and I think that is the case for a lot of Killer perks.
-
Tbh I don't know why you find Oni exceptional in this area. Why does Legion have Mad Grit, he gets no benefits from it compared to other Killers.
Why does Cannibal have Knock Out? A good Cannibal will be getting downs with his chainsaw, ideally.
Why does the Twins have a perk built around kicking generators, and lunging, both of which Victor cannot do, you'd think those perks could be built around debuffing survivors or something, as then Victor and Charlotte can use these perks.
I could probably find more examples of other Killers. If you look at the "meta" or most "optimal" builds, very rarely will Killers actually run their own teachables, unless they have a very powerful meta perk (e.g. Corrupt on The Plague).
I don't feel like Oni is exceptional in this area. With the newer Killers especially, I feel like the teachables are more designed around perks that will change the game and sometimes even work well on other Killers, as this is how the developers add longevity into the game, forcing you to have to grind perks on multiple different Killers.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/270625/slugging-vs-first-hook
Well Ive been playing Twins a lot and its just slug constantly. Downed another survivor on the other side of the map slug with victor to babysit them. Downed a survivor near you slug and make someone give Victor an involuntary piggyback. Downed someone as charlotte leave them there and use Victor to find injured people. In a lot of my games I only get like 6 hooks because I hook 1 or 2 survivors then get a 4 man slug,
Yeah Twins seem to excel at slugging, didn't lose a game with them yet, even using practically no perks (although that could also be down to having no MMR for that Killer and getting new survivors?)
@Crowman said:
I find that in general it's better to hook a downed survivor unless there's another survivor in the immediate area you can chase or know where the other survivors are in general.
Basically as long as you aren't just slugging the survivor and wandering the map, slugging is a good option. Because slugging is weaker pressure than a hook (longer time to die and downed survivor can crawl to safer areas for pick up). Without having pressure applied on another survivor slugging becomes worth less than a hook.
Makes sense!

Homie that's literally Spine Chill...Except instead of a audio cue you get a visual one.... If you use Premonition you get an audio cue instead of a visual one.....
How is this so hard to understand. Like I even took a minute to double check just to make sure my brain wasn't rotting. What you're asking for has existed in the game LONGER THAN UNDETECTABLE AND IS ARE GENERAL PERKS THAT EVERY SURVIVOR GETS FOR FREE(Free as in they're in every bloodweb not free as in costs nothing)
These perks legit do the exact thing you're asking for in the exact situation you're asking for. Always have.
Not really, spine chill triggers when they are looking at you, I'm saying this would be triggered on going undetectable, clearly not the same thing, if you apply some thought to it. The counter play to spine chill (moonwalking) would not work on this perk, and it could also deal with greater activation distances, and lower cooldowns, in order to differentiate the perk.
Anyway, that was a quick example off the top my head, to illustrate some use of undetectable, rather than invisibility, which is pointless and applies to 2 killers in the whole game. I'm not saying go and make that perk, it was a quick example to illustrate my point.
Don't worry, I know how spine chill works, if you were following the thread you may have seen my other post were I said "did you try using spine chill", but thanks for trying to educate me on spine chill, anyway.

Every single one of those perks was in the extra cheap shrine during the anniversary event.
So they could have just bought them during said event with iri shards and leveled up a killer to play as while they play as survivor.
Remember the Shrine of secrets exists and so does leveling up killers while playing survivor and vice versa.
Fair enough, didn't realise so many perks were accessible in the recent events.

What does the skin have to do with anything? You can be a rank 20 player with no perks and still buy that skin for Trapper.
I guess the reason I am mentioning the skin is, typically people do not invest money into stuff like cosmetics until they are already playing the game quite a lot, hence, I'm assuming the original poster has played the game to a reasonable extent.
Obviously different people have different attitudes towards money, but I could not see myself paying for a skin which costs more than the game upon starting the game.

What's the point of having the status be a part of a killer's kit if a perk exists that thoroughly robs it of its usefulness? Which was the exact issue they changed for Object of Obsession. Stealth states become meaningless when people can aura read you while in that state. You've got spine chill, alert, premonition, etc. to use as a soft counter.
Let the sneaky killers actually be able to sneak in peace.
I literally made this exact point in one of my previous posts in this thread, and I said showing where they are would still be OP. I'm saying that targetting Invisibility is useless, something that works off Undetectable would offer more in-game interaction, but it would have to be weaker than showing the Killer's aura at all times. A quick example: something like the reverse of the Killer perk whispers, e.g. the survivor gets some subtle audio indicator when a Killer goes undetectable within a radius.
@stikyard said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2401487#Comment_2401487
You guys seem to want to make it more encompassing to counter more Killers, I think being only against Invisible Killers kind of balances the idea, often times the perk is useless.
As far as Spirit not being able to see auras while phased, this perk would overrule that, she could see you and, you could see her.
That's not a good example of balance, a perk being either totally overpowered and game breaking, or being totally useless. Those two states don't balance each other out as they are both broken states.

Spirit, Wraith, Freddy, and possibly Nurse although, I'm not sure that is really invisible.
Nurse basically turns into a blurry effect or something, she moves so fast anyway I don't think seeing her mid blink would add anything.
Also as far as I know, Freddy only disappears for very brief moments so I don't think this perk would really help with him either, his invisibility doesn't really contribute much to his power.
I guess it would help with Wraith and Spirit, who are both played quite a lot as well.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2401455#Comment_2401455
Ghost and Myers are never "invisible", you can always see them physically.
In your first post you said this would counter 3 or 4 Killers, which 3 or 4 are these then if we're talking about true "invisibility"? I assumed what you really meant was stealth Killers who can use undetectable status (which would be GF, Myers, Wraith)
-
Adding a perk which reveals invisible Killers would completely ruin the game for stealth Killers, you're basically completely denying Ghost Face's power, or making the early game too difficult for Michael.
Stealth already has a counter, which is to use your eyes and ears and not play like a bot, failing that, you can use Spine Chill.
As always, SWF would abuse such a perk the most, imagine you are playing Ghost Face against a team in comms, one person has this perk. The whole team now knows where you are whenever you use your power, so you're in fact getting punished for using your power, and you have little chance to win.
-
The thing is you have a paid skin on Trapper, not to mention three tier 3 perks from other Killers including Bubba, Plague, and Clown. So it's not as if you are brand new to the game. Is rank 13 the highest you've ever been?
(I mean just playing devils advocate here. I know the matchmaking is broken where ranks are concerned, but this has been well known for a while now, your rank 13 is meaningless anyway as anyone who takes a break from the game for a while will drop down to those ranks, so you could just as easily play Survivors who are low ranked, but actually have hundreds if not thousands of hours of experience)
-
Maybe Huntress, Freddy, and Twins?

I don't get what it is tonight, but I think some people who have been playing need to drink some water and ease up. I can't tell you how many games I've played tonight (Generally in a casual 4-2 man SWF, with the 4 and 3 man having a genuine new player) have been against red ranks who stack 2 or more gen regression perks and will absolutely annihlate us before we hit the 3 gen mark while we're just trying to meme or play around. (Bonus points if they brought a mori.) And I know it's the same on the otherside with Killers, with Survivors that will absolutely eat gens and would rather see their friends die on first hook then not pop gens. (Again, bonus points for BNP.)
But like... yeesh, how about we consider easing up a little? Like, we all know bad it feels to be annihlated on either side, so... why push that same feeling onto other players?
Seriously, if the game is already pretty much set to be a W for you, there's no reason why either side can't ease up and at least try to give the other side a chance to recover or at least get more BP- whether it be giving the Survivors a little time to recoupe, reset and try and get a little gen progress, or giving the Killer a hook or two (or heck, even just doing side objectives to give them more time).
Idk, I'm just saying, I think a lot of folks seem to forget that it's just a game, and there's no reason not to ease up and just try to do some goofy stuff for fun, especially if you know you're already bringing home a win.
"Seriously, if the game is already pretty much set to be a W for you, there's no reason why either side can't ease up and at least try to give the other side a chance to recover or at least get more BP"
There is a reason to not ease up and it's because you could end up losing the game.
For a Killer: you don't know all the progress on gens, it could be 3 remaining gens but two of them could be at 80%, which means you're actually seconds from 1 gen left. I've had many games where I've eased up on survivors and ended up losing a game I could have won.
For a Survivor: the game can change at any second with a snowball situation, if the Killer downs/hooks 2 survivors then it puts lots of pressure on the remaining survivors to save, and it is obviously game over if the still standing survivors go down

not from my personal experience. I'm still purple as survivor (was rank 1 once, but haven't played survivor for a while last winter and struggle to go back to red since). I personally find survivor much harder right now than killer - i'm rank 1-2 as killer for at least 1 year or so (except for the week after rank reset). I'm probably way worse as survivor than killer, but my personal feeling is that killer has become much easier in the last months. The DS nerf was imho unhealthy for the game balance.
When i play killer and i want to win, and survivors start to play sweaty (split up, doing 3 gens before i got a hook or stuff like that) i just start to play scummy - you can easily tunnel people out since on one uses DS anymore, and (proxy-) camping also works very often, to make sure they get into second stage if the rescue doesn't happen fast enough. It's unfun for everyone and dumb of course, but it works more often than not, that's why even red rank killers are doing it so often. Note that there is a difference between mindlessly chasing one survivor and throwing the game/ facecamping someone without reason, not patrolling gens - and the stuff that i mentioned, "tactical tunneling/camping".
I still think it is easier to pip up to red as Survivor as it is pretty easy to get +0 or +1 pips so it's just a matter of playing enough games and contributing some minimal amount to the team.
As Killer I find it more frustrating, as you have games where you have to really fight even for a safety pip at times. Then sometimes even if you feel like you tried hard, you can still get a 0K and depip against a very good team. For this reason I find Killer to be a lot more triggering, as you have to consistently try hard to even maintain a rank, any mistakes will likely result in a depip and loss of progress, whereas the Survivor experience is less stressful as you can maintain rank even if you never escape.

I'm responding to your comment in full, not partially. Your comment isn't true because it wouldn't give you a pip as you said.
"Doesn't even matter if you are not in a SWF, as long as you pop a gen or 2, get a heal and an unhook, win one chase, you will always safety pip and usually pip up."
That will not pip you in red ranks. That will only safety if you are never hooked.
I didn't say it would give you a pip, I said it will always safety pip, which I assume means +0, so you will never depip, I said you will usually pip, not always. Big difference.
Once again you are mentioning about pipping IN RED RANKS. That was not your original argument, the argument was around how easy it is to reach red ranks, i.e. pipping in purple ranks. It's easy to get to, and stay in, red ranks as a survivor, for this reason.

you understand that you are above all killer, what you say is biased and not correct. getting to the purple ranks is easy with both! but the reds are much more difficult to survive, especially if you play for and with the team.
Why can nobody read in this thread, oh my lord. I never mentioned anything about pipping in red ranks, the whole discussion was around REACHING red ranks, i.e. pipping in purple ranks, and then simply maintaining rank (or raising it slowly) by safety pipping OR pipping more than you depip.
I'm not biased towards Killer at all, I got red ranks in Survivor before I got red ranks in Killer, despite playing more hours of Killer. Right now, I play them both about evenly.

the best one is you can't even type "kill", in a game about killing. So whenever I say something like "you got a good kill" or "I finally killed you" it ends up looking like I'm insulting the user and then there's an awkward exchange as I try to explain what I wrote. Can't write killing in a game about killing. Joke of a system.
Obviously they didn't want people saying "#########", but surely they could censor the word "kill" if its followed by "yourself"/"urself" etc., but no best just censor the word "kill" instead...

No, it's not against the rules to allow the survivors to escape, otherwise you'd arguably be breaking the rules every time you lose a game

Because hitting red ranks as a survivor are more difficult, especially if trying to level up beyond the initial rank 4. While as a killer, it's not as difficult to gain pips. This is why OP and many others are seeing a higher amount of purple/green survivors compared to killers and also the reasoning as to why you rarely will see any survivor actually on rank 1 right now.
"Doesn't even matter if you are not in a SWF, as long as you pop a gen or 2, get a heal and an unhook, win one chase, you will always safety pip and usually pip up."
This isn't exactly true, as in red ranks that would net you the safety but not the pip. If you are hooked at all, that would probably depip you.
"if you are hooked at all that would probably depip you"
Unless the medals have been changed recently and I'm missing something, I really don't think that is the case. For anything other than red ranks, I'm pretty sure you can safety or pip, even without escaping and getting a low quality unbroken emblem
