mastering perks is useful for the purpose of running crossbow or volt launcher + light or heavy sword.
shield isn't requried, but you have to know how to avoid getting hit with claws and bombs.
I mean every weapon can deflect claws (this includes the Falconic Plasmabow and the Sledgeblade) and bombs are easy to avoid most of the time.

the suit upgrades are not pointless.
ironside runs crossbows
kamaitachi runs swords
both can run the arc barrier, but it's better on kamaitachi.
the arc shield can destroy:
pistons, claws, and impalers
this means you can get a movement speed boost from the act of doing so.
---
best combos right now are:
ironside: bolt launcher + crossbow for ranged spam maps with tons of sentinels, incinerators, and guards.
kamaitachi: light sword+arc shield for maps that utilize bombs, bolts, and warmongers.
impalers, pistons, claw traps, holo cubes, and acid pits are a non-issue for either build.
---
ironiside's entire kit is based on being able to get your bolts back and makes the game so much easier once you have the 50% recovery range and two fully maxed ranged weapons. you can literally grab your bolts from 1.5 cubes away. meaning you can get them from acid pits that you normally wouldn't be able to. and on top of that you can see where they are and fire them faster.
kamaitachi is all about movement speed and dashing with the sword. if you read his perks you see that he gets movement speed from destroying or killing (including the harvester) melee lunge speed and increased lunge ranged (this means you can basically teleport with the light sword or dash two blocks with the heavy sword) and if you level up the swords it makes them swing faster (light sword) and swing further (heavy sword)
there are times now with kamaitachi where i don't even get the animation for the light sword because it swings so fast.
none of the upgrades are pointless. even a 0.1 increase to swing delay is actually pretty significant even if it doesn't seem like it. the only "actually useless" upgrade is the 0m lunge distance increase on the sledge sword. which is funny that it says 0m. but it has an increase to swing delay also. so it's not a completely useless upgrade.
THERE ARE useless guard and trap upgrades. armored plating is a requirement for guards.
2nd wave is basically a universally good option for traps.
everything else is "meh" or worse.
My point was specifically that mastering upgrades is pointless unless you run a hybrid build, but even then it's not necessarily meta; albeit my wording was not the best when clarifying that.
Even your own post basically covers what I said anyways, so it's not like it really matters.

Nah, the synth drop rate is simply to low.
Yesterday i saw a reddit video of someone who reached lvl 100 on everything, had 46k cells, 47k parts and only 6k synth.
- Cells have limited usage.
- Parts are not that hard to come by.
- They probably invested most of it in Brutal bases which are not good for farming Synthite.
The issue is not Synthite drop rates, the issue is that you do not know how to properly design a base with profits in mind. Again, this are not surface level.
And again, the game already needs more raider than makers, we already have issues were maps just never get raided enough, even after the matchmaking update.
-
Here is the tricky thing with balancing Synthite. (Consider this a pocket guide to help.)
If you increase that rate that it drops, you have far more people making maps than raiding. If you decrease the drop rates, maps become too inefficient to make. I think (after toying around for a bit) that the developers have hit a nice middle area for most parts of the game.
My only suggestion will be to not investing into large plots of lands, the cost to up-keep are significantly higher than medium and small plots, and Brutal difficulty is already bad enough since getting consistent raids can be tricky (both before and after the matchmaking changes). Large bases by design are meant to be costly but provide lots of XP, but if you just want to log-on, collect resources, prestige, then log-off, it's definitely not the way to go.
Personally, I have invested in a lot of small/medium bases that are able to kill enough to led to net-profit in Synthite (you are limited to Normal/Advance Difficulty but you get more raiders through those anyways), and I also pay a lot of attention to the amount of Genmat each plot of land has as well, since some bases last longer (thus getting more raids).
There are other alternative factors to consider as well, such as the time of day for your region. I find that the best times for getting kills is in the mid-day/afternoon, so if I need Prestige Points I will often just let me Genmat extraction happen during that time but set my base to inactive otherwise. Of course you can just let your Genmat be extracted normally, with some bases you can get away with it due to the long duration, or if you need passive XP it's always there, etc.
Overall, base making in MYM (at least for some sort of net-profit) has more layers than just "build base => profit", I often burn through a small bit of Synthite recycling plots to find the one that seems (almost) perfect since things are not really surface level, but it's mainly just proper management combined with applying knowledge.
I would implore people who are not well-versed in it to experiment and/or research a bit.

Are we really going out of our way to try and say something is "BM" when it really isnt?
Honestly though, who actually cares if they "BM" (it really isnt) or not? They died. You got your resources from it. And nobody is forcing you to watch replays.
And overall, I think it is dumb to get upset over "BM" in a game that is fundamentally PvE in it's structure; you are basically getting upset at someone "BM"ing an AI (guards/traps)... think about that...

Ah Hawkins, why did the copyright gods and short-sighted execs at Netflix treat us so?
😥
Hawkins was one of my favorite maps. I use to despise it until I realize how to run the map as Survivor and Killer, then it became amazing.
Also I just loved the idea that god pallets became strong if you ran a certain way, but also could be insanely weak if ran the other way.

If the gen's aura is between you and the survivor... you may not even be able to see them!
Make the gen turn yellow or something.
Battlefield games let you change the colors for team icons, squad icons, and enemy icons; so you are better able to distinguish between whatever. Best part was that people never complained about colorblind issues with it since you could cater to your own needs.
I think DBD should have a similar system, like I could make the auras of Generators purple, or the auras of Totems blue, maybe make the aura of my teammates dark red. It would help me distinguish between the different things a lot better. I have been an advocate for this for a really long time, since it helps every single player, not just visually-impaired/colorblind players.

Too many people associate playing on console with being bad at the game, so you'd run into a lot of issue with...
- People dodging lobbies with too many PC players
- Survivors dodging other survivors
- Cross platform toxicity (like a playstation player bleeding survivors out for 4 minutes because they play on xbox).
- PC players abusing the fact that console players play at a lower frame rate/worse graphics
Ive played games with PvP Cross-play and literally never had any of these issues relating to certain platforms.
I guess you could say "some people will do that", but it's just that, "some people", not everyone, not even a majority, a small portion of the community. Realistically it has no effect upon most players.

I honestly dont know how someone can look at the state of SoloQ and instantly jump to "SWF is the issue here".
SoloQ has always been in a rough spot, but BHVR pushing the game to be more competitive while also not providing SoloQ the resources to deal with competitive-based situations has left it in an even worse position than ever; even after the HUD changes.
One of the things that has hurt SoloQ the most is the inconsistent teammates, it's always been an issue (kinda). When BHVR changes SBMM to be less strict, it made the game significantly worse for SoloQ because you cannot rely on your teammates to do anything right.
But here is the thing, BHVR is in a catch-22, if the make SBMM more strict than people will complain that Killer is too stressful, but if you dont change SBMM, the game becomes miserable for SoloQ. Damned if you do, damned if you dont. SBMM/MMR has overall hurt the game in almost every way possible, and has made the flaws with the game insanely noticeable.
I could go on and on with hundreds of other possible factors that made the game the way it is but frankly I dont think people want to sit here and read a 10-page essay of anecdotal commentary involving the state of the game, regardless, I hope my point is clear, the issue is not SWF, it's BHVR's inability to make effective changes.

While people like to complain about how "X change makes the game Y-sided", I really think there were health changes for the game for both sides, both Killers and Survivors got nerfs/reworks in the same update. I really just find it difficult to be upset about it.

There should be more options for changing HUD colors so people with color vision issues can adjust their HUD to their liking.
I don't think Myers needs this change the way he currently is.
I mean, again, it's Quality of Life. Which means you can play perfectly well without it, it's not needed, but it is nice to have. I know, such a shockingly new concept.
I do think there are far more important things, like actually buffing Myers to be a better Killer, but overall I see no point in protesting this change, it does not hinder Myers, it barely changes how he plays, it's just nice to have.

Those videos didn't really discount anything I said though. With billy it's pretty much impossible to deal with, with blight you can start your rush looking down on the other side of shack and it will hit someone trying to do use this tech against him. People will hit this against lilith once and he will go out of his way to show how easy it is to counter as blight. My original reply was simply stating how I don't think blight and billy should be in the same tier because of the massive difference in effectiveness the tech has against these two killers.
Again, I do not think you understand what I was saying.
With Blight, crouch-teching can definitely be countered, I am agreeing with you on there, my point is that it depends on when you use it, because it DOES have application in gameplay, it DOES have utility that can save someone in a match, you just have to use it at the right time and place, that's the whole point of a "tech".
And the entire Tier-List in of itself was a meme, if I were putting it more seriously, Blight would be above Billy but below Oni because of what I have been saying, crouch-teching is not as effective compared to a Killer like Billy, but again, it DOES have application, I would put more categories and put other Killers that it is appliable to as well, such as Demo's Shred and Plague's Corrupt Purge, but again, I originally just made it as a joke.

No, people didn't realize that because you didn't state that. If you wanted the conversation to be about accommodating you for having a vision impairment, you should've listed it... we can't mind read. Of course they could've been less snippy about it, but you need to understand... their concerns do come from a logical point. It isn't hard to 99 for an average player. Your vision impairments change the conversation entirely.
That is fair, but at the same time, I do not think people should automatically jump to "skill issue" for everything anyways. The DBD community in general just relies way too much on "you are not good at the game" or "you are low MMR" when it comes to anything, I feel like any civil discussion goes out the window sometimes because of it.
Also again, it's Quality of Life, that has no hinderance on gameplay. It saves new players time, helps me (who is visually impaired a lot), and just makes things easier for everyone, people can focus more on playing the game without worrying about managing a power-gage.
-
@bigboss192x said:
If you can't 99, that's a skill issue. I think whats far more necessary is Tricksters active ability shouldn't go away if you don't use it but I digress
@bigboss192x said:

Exactly lol it's not hard at all
You do realize that I have a vision-impairment that makes red very difficult for me to see right?
Sometimes it can be difficult for me to distinguish the red power-gage from the environment, so I basically have to fight with the camera just to see what progress I have, which can completely take-away from the chase and mess things up completely.
So please, so not jump to conclusions of "it's a skill issue" when it is something that is inherently out of my control (DBD's color-blind settings do not help much, trust me, Ive tried).
Plus again, it's free Quality of Life, I dont see the point in not wanting free Quality of Life.

I'm just not sure that is accurate though. If you crouch tech on an even elevation surface vs blight he's going to hit you regardless of whether he looks down or not, if you are at shack for example and use that uneven surface he can look down and mitigate it anyway. A shoulder flick literally makes blights model his entire hitbox for the first small portion of the lethal rush attack, that's why you can quite literally kick people in the head. It works at shack because he can't get next to you due to the door, but as I said he can look down at the start to make sure that doesn't happen.
Again, I would advise watching 1v1 tournaments, youd be surprised how much it actually works, it's obviously more effective in public matches but I wouldnt sit here and act like "oh, it's useless because it can be countered" when it's called a "tech" for a reason... because it has to be applied properly AND can be countered by knowledge players... it's literally no different from any other tech.
- Hens basic explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQnzET5nL_Q
- Another visual example I grabbed in like 2 minutes of search (and also a bit of proof that it does work on Blight btw): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCF-nJQo-dc
Im stated in the original post that "on areas with slightly different elevations (like Shack), you can swing into a crouched Survivor as Blight and Billy and completely miss because the Survivor is just slightly lower than your hitbox" for a reason. Im not talking about the same elevation, stop mentioning stuff on the same elevation when it's something Im not talking about.
-
@Sava18 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3401602#Comment_3401602
If you look down at the start of your rush and anticipate the crouch tech it just flat out doesn't work anywhere that I am aware of.
Oh that.
That depends mostly on the distance, since Billy and Blight can both deal with crouch-teching from short distances by looking down, it has to do with the hitbox positions being pushed lower down by looking down, but as they rush/sprint, the hitbox position is moved slowly up, which is why it only works over short distances.
But in most loops, you apply crouch-teching and just counter their power because the distance they are forced to cover guarantees that they wont get a hit (and prevents the "looking down" trick from working) because the hitbox would be shifted to it's proper position by then.
That's not so much "crouch-teching doesnt work" but more of "you are doing it at the wrong time and position".

It's interesting because my experience has been the opposite. I settled into survivor quite easily (back then I spent a good hour in the tutorial and then used Feng with Technician until I got the hang of the generators. Learning tiles was the probably the trickiest but i hold my own).
But killer takes me longer to get the hang of. Some killers I play better than others and stick to (Demo and Wraith atm, with the former taking me a bit longer to learn while the latter was quite alot easier), others I've tried once or twice and given up on. Others I won't even bother trying.
I mean, some people naturally fill into certain roles better than others, realistically everyone is different, so people handle things different.
But I think I can speak for a lot of new players by saying that the game does not explain much for Survivor, and what it does explain is bare minimum. The new Survivor experience is far more frustrating than the new Killer experience.
I have also dragged a lot of people into playing the game over the years, and I have asked them for their thoughts, and they generally go along with what I have said.
-
The issue with the "Casual" part of DBD is how vastly different Killer and Survivor are compared to the rest of the game.
- Killer has a lower skill floor, and most people can pick up Killer and play without any issues, the only noticeable "issue" is the lack of good perks from the starting set of Killers.
- Survivor has a higher skill floor than Killer, and while a lot of people do play Survivor overall, it's important to note how difficult it is for new players to really catch onto how things work.
Combine Killer being easier to pick up when starting the game and Survivor being a bit trickier for new players, and you have this weird area for in the game where Killer dominates Survivor by a landslide.
-
Ive said this before, but I think the game should not be balanced around kills but should instead be balanced around hooks.
The ideal thing, for me personally, 8 hooks; anything less is a tie/loss.
-

Heads up ; You can grapple through a lava block without any shield to go destroy most of those traps. It takes about 1 full second for lava to register a kill, so as long as you're out of that specific lava cube before then you won't die to it.
That screenshot of yours especially looks like a very simple grapple kill to me.
Sure there will be some A-hole putting lavacube above lavacube below lavacubes, but that's when you just leave and block.
Note worthy ; you can't put a trap inside a lava cube, so there will always be a space between the Second wave cube and the trap. ( which might be trapped by an impaler or more flamethrower... Be wary of that at least. )
The screenshot was definitely one of the easier bases abusing it, most bases Ive seen use two/three layers of Corrosive Cubes.

I respect this. Btw do you have to use the arc barrier. Are you able to use the load out you like and use the consumable shield?
I have all the consumables unlocked, and most of the weapons I have are maxed out, I tend to change my loadouts depending on what mood Im in.
The Arc Barrier is one of the best counters to this exploit, since it leaves room for your equipment to have the utility you need (typically Grenades and Phoenix Pods).
Flash Barriers can also work but with certain traps (like Incinerators) it's not so helpful.
It mainly just depends on what kill-box the player made.

It's not about "I cant beat them", as Ive stated before, I can definitely handle them, though it does require a loadout that I hate using.
The issue is people purposely abusing a bug in the game to create unfair situations for the player; and in many cases, it is abused to farm new players in lower difficulties.
It's lame, it's scummy, I am tired of seeing it.

"...And then you'll laugh your ass off at kill-box outposts..." here is a solution, do not make a kill-box outpost to begin with.
When making a base, you have to plan around every possible thing, Arc Barrier severely limits what other weapons they can bring, so most people use Melee since it is reliable... so spread out your traps more, this combo suffers heavily when they are forced to deal with ranged things.
Also youll definitely need to use Death Pistons, one of the most underrated traps in the game, since they have the ability to slowdown the pace of players and force them to move slow, which also counters Arc Barrier since it only destroys Death Pistons upon the piston extending out.

Let me guess. You used targeting through an acid block exploit?
After some testing with raid rates for 4 days with different things, the only map I had that did not get a prestige lvl was one using an exploit.
My base didnt even use the Second Wave augment at all, so definitely not exploiting the Corrosive Cube bug; I have been avidly telling people to avoid that exploit since there is bound to be repercussions for doing so.
I think the refill/reset is just bugged; this isnt the first time something like this has happened, since I bought a new base to use and the base got perma-locked as Brutal Rating despite me removing all traps, still is rated as Brutal Rating even with no traps (I stripped the base to make sure), as far as Im aware, it's just a free Brutal Rating base for people, since I forgot to remove it as active and Im too lazy to log into MYM to change it.
Base-making is just buggy in general. But I think it will get fixed over the new few weeks since the game just recently released anyways.

Well, technically it's not a "Refill"; it's a "Reset" (at least according to the Building UI).

i have come to the conclusion that the reason one can have so many bases built is so that, during the times they can’t refill one base they can have others active then as they raid they can have enough money to refil the basses and activate them later while the others are depleted and unable to be refilled.
It is a shame that it only got raided once. It looks cool. I know if I see it I’ll definitely give it a try.
50/125 Prestige Level. It literally says it on the right side of the screen, the icon is even half filled to indicate that it's not enough to Prestige.
So Im not sure what you are looking at for it to "look like from the time that picture is taken you do have enough to refill it" when it already expired and cannot be refilled? Im actually confused on that.

Flash barrier works too doesn't it? And it solves so many other problems too.
Flesh Barriers depend on the layout as well. Definitely underrated but not an end-all-be-all for "impossible bases".

Big idea, but make Shattered Hope Base kit. Not the aura reading, just the destroying of totems, and change shattered hope to be this: You see the auras of Boon totems within the trial, after snuffing out the Boon, the totem remains and the auras of all survivors are revealed for 10ish seconds. This makes the perk useful more than 5 times, and destroying totems being base kit feels fairer in my opinion(You can't reignite a hex as killer, but survivors can use boons on the same totem over and over again).
Tell me what you think!

I could actually agree to this, killers should be able to destroy totems especially for basekit. the animation already looks like that's the case.
Most boons already have weak effects that do not provide a substantial advantage; there is B: Circle of Healing, but it is getting nerfed/reworked in the next update anyways (check Developer Update for more information).
B: Exponential is strong but also weak, since it entirely counters slugging to snowball but it requires it to have good placement (which means it can easily be snuffed out) OR a spot where the Killer will not snuff it (but you have to spend a long time crawling, which means you just just be bleed out much easier).
B: Shadow Step and B: Dark Theory have the issues where you have to lead the Killer to your Boon to get value; this leads to the Killer just being able to snuff it out before providing any form of value. And also while B: Shadow Step has a decent effect; most people think that B: Dark Theory's 2% Haste is laughably bad... it kind of is, youre better of running Hope... coming from a Hope enjoyer.
This would nerf already weak effects.
Instead. I think Hexes should be buffed, as a lot of them are mediocre, and since Hexes are by design suppose to be "glass cannon" perks, they should be strong.
