I haven't played RE6 yet, but I also heard that it was not so well recieved. Why is that?

The short of it was most felt that it was overall too action focused, too long, cooperative, not scary, almost all new characters were disliked, and it had an awful plot. I won't go into too much details on any of the plot related stuff though.

For me though I was okay with it not being as horror focused. I was much more upset about most of the characters all being bad. All of the main villains fall into either awful writing, recycling old ideas, or just being outright boring. I did like Jake (Sherrys partner) a lot (many people disagree unfortunately) while Helena (the partner in Leon's campaign) was just okay to me. Piers (chris's partner) was super vanilla and possibly my least liked character in the entire mainline series. Chris was basically a whole different character from 5. Leon was done very well. Sherry was also very good. Ada was fine. I liked sherrys campaign a lot while Leon's felt the most classic resident evil to me. Chris's felt like discount gears of war. The overall plot is just awful in the game. Some parts (like sherry and Jake's inclusion) are well done though. I do think the mechanics of the game are very well done though. I think the gameplay is very solid and it's a lot of fun. I'd go as far to say it had the best gameplay mechanics than any of the prior games and they still hold up well. The mercenaries mide is very popular and I like it. The QTEs were too much in it. Overall I think I like RE6 more than most people. It's a fun time if you aren't going into it expecting a decent story. I'd love for it to be remade with a much better plot

  • I'll also add that yes i agree SWF is still totally beatable...but even when i win i often don't walk away feeling great about it. Having a 3 or 4k doesnt make it feel worth having yourself kicked in the teeth over and over an entire match. I'm not looking for an easy win. I'm even fine walking away with a 0k but solid swf (while still beatable) just isn't fun to engage with most of the time no matter what result the game ends in. I'm just not a very competitive person so I don't get anything out of having a sweat fest to victory both inside and outside DBD

  • It can be if you have potatoes in solo queue. For example, earlier I had a game against myers. 3 of us were left with 1 gen remaining. Each person was hooked once. No one else was doing gens no matter how much I tried to urge them and i did all the unhooking/healing....we all died. Trying to carry your team is stressful

It really depends what killer you are playing in order to make a “fun” build work. For me if I’m feeing like a bit of a meme I’ll run Trail of torment, Tinkerer, Plaything and Bitter murmur with Apex muffler and Spiked boots with a Coldwind offering on The Hillbilly just to get silent chainsaw cross maps on survivors.

Your carry focused build is very common on leatherface players. I see it atleast once every other day but instead of awakened awareness is subbed for insidious.. I wonder where bubba is going to carry the survivor to after they downed them 🤔…

Yeah I figured it's common for bubba for his usual annoying play. I've had fun chasing people all over rather map while carrying a survivor (and most games I get a survivor who doesn't wiggle so I'm just using them as a backpack for a while)

  • Possibly myers tbh. If I remember his lore correctly the entity wasn't able to manipulate myers at all whereas all the other were submissive to the entity eventually.

Hes not a leader type but I don't think anyone would be able to control him if the entity couldn't

I'd quite like to see The Baker estate tbh.

I'd enjoy it but I'd prefer to see Spencer mansion, resident evil lab, and re4 village

  • Lady D could be a legendary skin for Artist.

    Mr x for nemesis

Jack krauser from re4 for wesker

Lisa Trevor could be a new killer

Ashley and Luis from re4 could be survivors

I like Jake a lot from re6 but I doubt they would use anything from re6 since it's hated by most re fans sadly

Then only those will get the bonus whose reports are thoroughly investigated and result in bans.

I still think people would overly utilize it in hopes of getting BP which would flood the report system which is a shame

  • @CorvusCorax86 said:

The issue is not with SWF but with the matchmaking system. It does not allow you to prepare for the SWF. If it is a bully squad instead of BP the reporting feature should be made easier so that more people would report toxic gameplay.

How about giving a bonus for reporting? Similarly to the "refer a friend" practice at various companies.

There could be a "report the bully" ad in the menu saying you can get at least 100k for reporting toxicity be it gameplay or endgame chat.

The only issue with bonuses for reporting is that people will abuse it...sadly.

  • @lifeisstrange said:

Sheesh how many swf complaint topics are there, I swear its like listening to tru1talent and his constant qqs about swfs this swfs that, you cant stop people from playing with family or friends and maybe if they stop nerfing survivors good perks then maybe there would be less swfs, swfs are not the ones destroying the game, killers are with their whining of nerf this or that that gives any survivor a chance at surviving. This is like the only game I know exist that people cry so hard about swf. Its so sad I cant think of any other game where people complain about swfs like this.

To be fair, this is one of the only big 1vmany games out there. Something like COD isn't as impactful or noticeable tbh

  • @Ayodam said:

Lmao. Cute idea. But absolutely not.

Is there a reason why you think it's a bad idea even though it has no impact on the actual match?

I feel like there should be some spawn logic that prevents this...

This and hex spawn both need to be better implemented. Rng in thus type of game just can make a game unfun as killer (and sometimes survivor)

  • @GolbezGarlandGabrant said:

No. Not unless they incentivize SoloQ play and not dyng or ragequitting the the first 2 minutes of a match.

I'd also want to do that to be clear.

  • I've not had any fun playing against her or playing as her and I've had at least 10 games of each

  • @Annso_x said:

I mean besides the numbers probably being too high, would the bonus be seen only after the game? Because if killers can see they're going against a swf before the game it's going to turn into a dodging feast I'm afraid.

Otherwise this doesn't seem like a bad idea, but I'm not sure why it would be implemented in the first place, it's not like killers are complaining about SWF bc of BPs (unlike survivors who get facecamped or tunneled and don't get any compensation for the time they earned their team). I feel like this would be implemented to encourage ppl not to dodge if they knew they're going against a swf, but because that's not the case I don't really see the point tbh, but I wouldn't mind if it was implemented.

Oh yeah my assumption would be the killer wouldn't see the bonus until after the match is completed.

And yeah I think balance is the greatest complaint by killers and that's something that's always going to be complained about unfortunately. This is just meant as a small way to make getting ki ked in the teeth over and over less annoying (as well as already having a lower BP score anyways most of the time since you will do less well)

  • @Seraphor said:

I don't think it's a terrible idea. Killer BP bonuses don't affect the survivor team at all. x2.5 is a lot though, I think probably +20% for 2 survivors, +30% for 3 and +40% for either a 4-man SWF or two 2-man SWFs.

You wouldn't be able to know if and when you faced a SWF, but it would be a little compensation for when you do.

And for the record survivors should get similar 'compensation' when camped/tunnelled, in the form of 'distraction' scores, based on the gen repairs or heals other survivors complete while you're being chased or when hooked with the killer nearby.

Yeah its a tough balance. I think the bonus would have to be enough to make a Killer want to stick around. 40% really isn't that much against a full squad (so even at max BP with 40k you get an extra 16k which is nice, but I don't think many killers would stick around for that).

Yeah i agree that survivors should get more BP for things like you mentioned too

  • @Hzinho_zinho said:

so the final verdict is that the medkit update sucked and shouldn't have existed, more and more I see the survivors' items getting worse and worse or simply useless (broken key, just take this item away, no one uses it)

WoO is super Overrated. I really don't know why it's so popular unless you are pretty new to the game tbh

  • I actually like red herring as it is. The only change I'd make is that it still makes noise at a gen even if gens are completed. Would be nice to have some use after gens are done

  • I typically prefer multifloor maps so something like RPD is fun for me playing either side

I mean I'm j saying there's def things that could be done to really really discourage tunneling or even make it basically impossible, they've just gotta be wanted and balanced with buffs to killers that spread hooks, so basically never

I do think those things could certainly happen but then there would have to be something to balance out killers needing to spread hooks more, which would likely include buffing gen regression and/or increasing gen times significantly but I don't think the latter will happen. Unfortunately if you spread hooks and try to shoot for 12 hooks 9/10 you'll lose pretty hard so you have to settle for something like 8 or 9 hooks total instead. I'd love to be able to play where I can pick and choose who to target more but right now killers don't have the ability to do that much.

If you literally can't be downed until the killer hooks another survivor will killers really still tunnel then?

I'm obviously excluding unrealistic scenarios like "what if survivors got guns and could shoot the killer dead LOLZ" (and yes I've seen several posts with that exact suggestion)

  • Another round of each for me

    Overated survivor perk: sprint burst

Having the speed is nice but the fact you don't have much flexibility to use it as lithe makes it just lesser to me.

    Underrated survivor perk: Deception

another perk I'd only have on specific builds but it can be a great way to lose a killer and provide some support for your friend from afar

Overrated killer perk: save the best for last

It can be nice to hit slightly faster after a successful hit but it's not all that common to have people grouped up that I get much value out of it. It worthless pretty early on and even at full stacks it might not even play a role in your victory. I still use it from time to time but it's mostly for my m1 only killers

    Underrated killer perk: bamboozle

It's a perk I think most killers can get benefits from. Some killers I find have to have it (such as myers) while others can become much more threatening with it.

  • @Sandt21 said:

We're complaining about STBFL now? Are killers even allowed to have strong perks anymore?

Yeah... it's a shame really. I think playstyles people dislike (although still valid playstyles given the design and what BHVR has said in the past) make perks and various other aspects of the game as targets to be nerfed when some people (not even the majority) will still tunnel and camp no matter what changes are made. I get being annoyed about being tunneled and camped, but those aren't going away whether we want it to or not

  • Myers for sure.

Freddy (although not really realistic) to have Englund

Wraith. He's just too bland looking without a special skin

  • @1ettuce said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3421145#Comment_3421145

Or it's because it's a problematic perk that does make it impossible to do so if we're being honest and realistic. Also you imply that it's a free escape without stbfl in play? Yikes.. killers really just can't live with getting a 0k

You are really giving STBFL way too much credit my guy. "Impossible" to escape is very extreme especially in relation to STBFL. There are examples I could see a case for saying it disposable to escape without a hook trade (such as infinite tier 3 myers or bubba) but those are outliers.

And honestly getting a 0k is a pretty tremendous failure. Do you really expect people to sign up to play a role they consistently accomplish nothing?

  • @Rudjohns said:

Soon enough they will deactivate Deliverance and Unbreakable when the exit gates are powered up

You can print screen this for later

Those are both totally fine perks (and I honestly find Deliverance underrated and would prefer a buff to it despite its popularity).

Unbreakable is also solid. Not too strong and not too weak

  • @1ettuce said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3421088#Comment_3421088

It makes camping and tunneling much much easier, is directly better against solos, and it becomes very impractical to take hits as the obsession if the killer has an m2

Camping and tunneling will always be a thing even though most of us don't like it. Most people i see have STBFL aren't using it for that purpose. I'd much sooner want to address something like Bubba than random perks because they have the potential to be good for camping/tunneling. Having (at most) a 40% hit cooldown is nice but it's not that nice. A killer will still camp/tunnel without STBFL. Nerfing it doesn't change anything you desire to change because some killers will do the same thing whether they have all the perks in the world or have no perks at all

  • I never understand the beef people have with STBFL. It's nice to have but it's not so good I need it on very many of my killers

  • @Akumakaji said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3420725#Comment_3420725

Because this perks gave survivors a 100%, no questions ask, no risks involved "escape this trial without a hitch" card at the end, unless the killer managed to hook them on the farthest hook possible and that lead to many, many uncool situations. Ever downed a survivor who just got unhooked, chased everyone else through the door and then watched that survivor to agonizingly slow crawl towards the exit gates and there is nothing you can do? They woudln't need 1min to reach the gates, so picking them up would just allow them to DS to safety.

Or ever downed two survivors during an endgame situation after a dual trade and you had to let them slugged for 1min, because they both could have DS and you needed to wait it out before hooking them? But the zoom off to safety while bodyblocking for your friends was the most common offender, with the perk not being anti-tunneling, but just a middlefinger to the killer with a big "yeah nice try loooooser. Here is some more t-bags for your effort."

OTR basically did the same, but don't be grim, basekit BT now ensues that you can more often then not safely escort your unhookers to the exit gates and t-bag with little opposition or counterplay, so everythings well in the fog.

Man I'm so glad this is no longer the case. Hooking survivors after gehs were done back in the day was super pointless

  • Until Dawn would be so legit and there are several great choices for survivors too

  • It kinda depends on where the breakdown is for "old" vs "newer" dbd starts and stops honestly

I'd love it to return but there's no way that will happen:/ people have been asking for years

  • 1. I do think there are ways that this could be done with having insanity about other areas (such as generators being fake, fake lockers, yellomg in lockers, etc). There's a lot of potential for it.

    2. Now i don't think it will happen. I like Amnesia a lot but I don't think it's popular enough for BHVR to shell out for it

Indeed. The rewards posted state "When the community reaches a combined 55M points, everyone receives 500K BPs, 500 Iridescent Shards, and 5 Rift Fragments!" 500k BPs is like ~2hrs of trials, 500 shards is less than two level gains post lvl 50, and 5 rift fragments is one tome entry.

For a community-wide/global event the rewards seem like an unenthused dismissing hand wave.

Yeah I totally agree. Adding a "0" behind each would be more excit8ng and not too insane to me

  • Dwight. He should be in every locker

  • Survivor

    Time waster

Deception, head on, diversion, and red herring. It's a fun meme build where you can mess with the killer a lot while still actually helping your team. Can really eat up a killers time if you can pull them in enough.

    Killer

    Oh so these are perks

Blood warden, No one escapes death, no way out, remember me (this one is much less original I know). I do like using it on killers you don't expect to see then on as much like huntress etc

"I do feel like nemesis's whip hitbox is pretty jank. I've had times I've cleared a jump and he whips where i was never at and the hit would still trigger:/"

That's because Nemesis can "drag" his tentacle hitbox, so, in reality, it almost never matches with his visual (blue thing)

Yeah that seems problematic. If that's what that actually want to be the case it would be nice tochave the visual match it

  • I've had this on a few maps even without boil over.

The ones that come to mind are lerys second floor area and (I might have the name wrong) red forest with the church looking building in the center that has a basement (not the basement) in it.

I'm a fan of doing aometh9ng about h9oks. Either add a couple to most maps or don't have hook disappear after sacrifice.

Having survivors go to an area that they know you can't reach a hook (not the typical sabitage situations which is torally fine) is just not fun gameplay. Having to slug people in a corner of the map gets boring both as survivor and killer.

  • I do wish that anonymous was removed pist game....generally speaking I'd like to say gg to someone or ask a question about how they did something so well.

I'd also like to be able to have a public chat agress platform...the struggles of being on console:/

Why? That was stated before, when gen regression was still a thing, and gen times went up by 10 seconds. But the killers didnt use that time to engage with gens, they used that time to tunnel and camp even easier. So why should that be different?

The question is, at what result do you aim? For example, lets say a 2kill 2 escape match was balanced. By balanced i mean, this outcome would be most likly without tunneling and camping. Would killers aim for that? Or would they still aim for a 4k, and if they cant get it without tunneling, still turn to those tactics, even if be balanced result could be achived without it?

IF they would still aim for the 4k, that means the Gen regression would have to be strong enough that killers get the 4k without that tactic. But why should any survivor want to play that game?

Thats the problem with asymetrical games, they have different win conditions and ways to get there.

For the record, I'm not talking about the game balance as far as what results should be the case. I'm saying there isn't much reason for killers to engage with gens now which leads to killers focusing on killing survivors almost exclusively. You could run builds that focused primarily on gens (I did that a ton before) and still ateive to get kills over the course of the game. Now gen defense is pretty minimal. I do disagree that killers as a whole didn't engage with gens in the past (there were always tunnelers and campers before and that will always exist to some level). Now there is very little reason to not do that. Hexes aren't used much anymore and can't be defended, gens can't be defended meaningfully, boons aren't used much and can't be stopped consistently as the killer, and so all you are left with is killing now as the killer. You don't have secondary objectives now. I liked when perks like pop or hex ruin were actually a threat but now neither really matter (along with a bunch of other perks and secondary objectives for both sides).

For "what a killer should aim for" yes I agree killers ought to shoot for more than a 2k to be beyond a tie (3k should be the goal of a killer) but there should be more emphasis on secondary objectives for a killer but they just aren't really a thing anymore

Basekit looping becomes a lot less effective since bloodlust exists. I'd agree with you otherwise.

Bloodlust isn't bad. Throw down a pallet, killer breaks pallet and loses bloodlust

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 … 41
