  • I wouldn’t want her buffed at all. I think she’s perfect already...one of my go-to killers when I feel like just annihilating survivors...plus, super fun.

    No changes necessary.

  • Pig is in a great place already. Two guaranteed kills per game...let’s not edit her.

  • Should keys be met with Moris? I don’t know, but if I see a key, I do bring a Mori...everytime.

Nothing’s more annoying for killer play to me than annihilating a team, and after 2 are dead the other 2 completely abandon their primary objective to hatch out.

Now, I don’t see this key out as victory, more of a surrender, an admission of defeat. But to hell with the wins/losses, they may have robbed me of points I needed to pip. To me, it’s nothing more than suiciding on hook or DCing after a 2nd or 3rd down. I used to be optimistic, not everyone plays the same. But now, nope. If I see a key, I’m bringing a Mori. I apologize in advance for those of you bringing broken keys :P

  • Every killer has counterplay. Some survivors are just one trick ponies.

A mind game killer, like Spirit or Nurse, has to be defended against with mindgames! You can’t just loop everything like you have since you started playing and wonder ######### went wrong. Use your head!

  • I might for the survivor side, I wouldn’t want to play killer on console VS PC survivors for just the FPS difference alone.

Then you have a joystick to control (I have lobbied for directional pad use before, no answer) that is much less accurate than a mouse which is why things like God Nurse’s are extremely rare on console...I havn’t played against one in 4 years.

Lastly you have the visual effects. A console player can’t do things like widen their screen to show more info in the 3rd person like PC players can. Console players cannot adjust colors or brightness either.

If you think playing killer is a real challenge (as it is) on console, playing VS PC survivors will only make it worse.

No issues with cross platforming between consoles.

  • There’s always going to be unjustified complaints based solely on the poster’s own opinion.

A killer that has both chase potential and map pressure (you know...balance!) is just too hard for survivors to cope with. It’s not just Freddy. Old Nurse, Old Billy, Spirit, Doctor, Legion...

I’m surprised they don’t whine about Demos.

Many (not all) survivors want to exclusively play against a killer with a huge weakness. Because now they don’t sweat as much. Playing VS a killer that can do everything, stresses them out in a match. You know, how a typical killer game goes against a good survivor team.

  • Demo is strong without add-ons...what we talking about? Lol

    (Not a survivor main btw)

The heart of any DBD gameplay experience is the chase. Sure hiding is fun, doing generators is too easy, too quick and very boring, being altruistic is fun. But the overall success or failure of a game is who wins the chase, and how quickly.

With the over excessive amount of 2nd chance perks for survivors, this makes them Godly in a game that already massively favors the survivor side. In a chase, it’s about who makes a mistake first. Killer? Then survivor gets more distance and prolongs the chase or forces you to go elsewhere. If a survivor makes a mistake, he/she can use Deadhard/DS/Adrenaline(when applicable), etc. to cover their mistake and try again.

And yes, killers have NOED, a perk that can be disabled (and IS most games) before ever becoming active. When not disabled, this gives killers a 2nd chance, but only during EGC when their options are limited. Survivors can use their 2nd chances (excluding Adrenaline) throughout the whole match.

This is why many survivor players obtain a “cocky” dimeanor, because they know if they mess up or get outplayed, their perks will pick up the slack.

Same for killer, if the survivors are dumb enough to just rush gens without worrying about NOED, than it’s only their fault if NOED ruins the match for them.

Like everything else in the game, the survivors dictate the pace unless a killer successfully forces the team to play his/her strategy.

  • I like Head On, I think it’s viable AND fun. Kind of sucks for a killer to eat one while carrying a survivor to a hook, completely negating their won chase and making them go again...but just using it solo when a killer is near only you is a blast in my book.

  • Most Hex totems are not too Godly. Devour Hope is the only real threat, still easily countered by cleansing or unhooking before the killer is out of range to get a stack. It’s ok if they cleanse it...they served their purpose...to buy you time.

Buying you time is there real strategic purpose, even if it is only 15 seconds of cleansing. That’s 15 seconds of gen work gone...or almost 1/3 of a generator repair...don’t rely on hex totems for your strategy, use them as a deterent.

  • I have about 11k hours, Devotion 9, level 90. 24K would mathematically only put you at about Devotion 20 unless by some miracle you get 25x more player XP than I do per game...unlikely.

  • I encounter numerous people AFK beginning of matches, some killers capitalize on this.

I would, I mean you have to click “ready” just to be placed into a lobby.

I think that's a fair assessment. I still believe a killer should have to work for that initial hit, though, because if they hit you one time, then you are forever broken, and everything you've said is still true. But that was an interesting perspective. Granted, killers mostly use scratch marks for tracking so unless you're walking *and* have iron will, it'd be hard to juke with "no mither" alone. But on that note, do you know how long it takes for trails of blood to disappear vs scratch marks? I honestly don't. Knowing that could provide better context. But, thanks for commenting!

I cannot say the precise digits, but about 3 seconds base game. However, this is altered by the Hemmorage status effect and perks like Bloodhound, which allows blood to stay visible up to 4 seconds longer.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1429831#Comment_1429831

Respectfully disagree. The purpose of the perk is to allow a survivor to get up unlimited times, with the tradeoff being that they remain injured and will grunt (if they don't want to grunt, then they must sacrifice a perk slot and use iron will). So the killer should have to injure a survivor in order for the perk to activate, as it serves no purpose otherwise. "No Mither's" sole power is entirely dependent on the how the killer chooses to play the match. If a killer sees a survivor is broken from the start of the match, then they know exactly why and what the perk will do. Any other perk requires actually playing the game and interacting with another play to determine their build (the survivor took off, therefore they have sprint burst. The killer made a beeline here after hooking, they have BBQ). You have to work for the knowledge. That doesn't happen with "No Mither."

And as its power is based solely on the play style of the killer, it is often rendered entirely moot. I have rarely met a killer who did not hook a "no mither" survivor immediately. Why? Because they know exactly what will happen if they don't. Removing the broken status from the start of the game will make it more balanced.

The majority of people using NM are not using it for its ‘Unbreakable’ effect. Those that are using it for that reason are probably just running meme builds like “You can’t hook me”.

NM’s biggest strength is the hidden blood trails. This eliminates a vital tracking tool for the killer player, especially with synergies like Iron Will to capitalize on it. Even more so, the sounds in this game are a bit “off” we’ll say (trying to be nice :P), so the blood is a very useful tracking tool for stealthy players if the killer isn’t facing a Doctor or a killer using Stridor.

I’m not saying NM is Godly because a killer can’t track without a blood trail, nothing can be further from the truth. But it IS a big enough asset to a survivor to warrant a forever ‘Broken’ status.

unless they're facing object and possibly voip swf abusing that perk,t hen it might become the only way to assure you'd ever get anybody else.

A camping killer will get 1 kill every game. More than that is your team’s fault. The time he’s camping, means no one is being chased. Means you have the majority of map tiles and pallets to play off still. Combine that with bodyblocking teamwork, killer stands no chance.

This is effective from any semi-decent survivor, they don’t even have to be good.

killers only fun to me when i dont take it seriously. once you start WANTING that specific survivor I just stop having fun, infact it gets me angry so why play that way you get good blood points as it is messing around and getting like 4-6 hooks imo. i agree with OP

The game is a 4v1. If you find yourself “wanting a specific survivor”, you already defeated yourself. You need all 4. Know when to chase and when to not. If you commit to a chase too long without winning, sure it sucks...but let them go. Plenty of tricks about this online to avoid being frustrated and not having fun as you mentioned.

Many words in response to your original post, way too many. All you need to know is:

If a killer is camping, ignore it, do gens. Camping is a way for a killer to guarantee that he/she loses the game.

  • No Mither is already balanced. You have an unlimited amount of times you can pick yourself up from the dying state, AND it removes your trails of blood.

  • @Honkerton said:

Currently as it is, NOED is too powerful and game-changing on it's own and literally takes an entire team to look for dull totems instead of doing objectives or alternatively taking perks such as Small Game. Changing it to a Hex Totem or reworking NOED to function in a different manner would be beneficial. I play Killer and Survivor equally and I believe it's bs.

Please suggest ideas ITT how to change or balance NOED.

I won’t give you any hate my friend, you’re obviously new. This isn’t a topic for people to insult your opinion, they are meant to be educating you instead. Since they didn’t, I will.

The game is both sides. Survivor and killer. While at low ranks, NOED is very strong...but the survivors almost never make it to the endgame. In high ranks, NOED is inconsequential, doesn’t really provoke a problem to anyone. Why? Only 5 totems spawn on the map, every map, every time.

When a killer typically runs a hex totem, we’ll use ‘Hex: Ruin’ as it’s common...most times that totem is cleansed less than 1 minute into a game.

Hex: NOED is a 2nd chance killer perk...the ONLY 2nd chance killer perk. This helps a killer try to snowball a game that they are losing. Survivors have countless 2nd chance perks. Unlike NOED, the killer cannot disable their perks. And unlike the killer, survivors can use their 2nd chance perks all game long with the exception of Adrenaline.

In summary, converting this totem to a Hex on game spawn will result in a buff of the strongest thing in the game...generator repair speeds. As fast as they are repaired, survivors need a secondary objective. If a survivor cleanses NOED beginning of a match, survivors no longer have a need to cleanse other totems. While some people play different than others, most players would not even attempt cleansing a dull totem unless:

    1. to counter NOED
    2. a Rift challenge
    3. to use a synergized perk, like Inner Strength.

With your suggested change to the perk, dull totems would be rendered nearly obsolete in DBD, so we will vote no on the suggestion.

Welcome to the community, please don’t refrain from voicing other ideas you may have in the future.

  • You don’t have to play cheesy, and you CERTAINLY don’t have to farm. You can win a game without the tunneling/camping/slugging...in fact, it’ll counter some of the opponents’ loadouts this way. You said yourself you don’t want to play this way...so don’t.

You can get way more BP winning, and if playing “fairly”, the survivors won’t have anything to complain about either (excluding the 2% of people that are just upset they lost, you’ll always have those).

Everyone’s happy, let’s stop the boring farming please!

  • Why do people DC after 1 mistake on PTB? Why do people attempt to just gen rush and leave??

There will always be players that are not attempting to ‘test’ anything. Is what it is my friend. :(

My point is that nearly every form of art has taken inspiration for terrible things that have happened in history. Personally I don't see why games would be any different.

Inspiration, yes. But a book or movie to that ACCURATELY depict such violence is meant as an educational tool, not entertainment. Using ZK as a form of inspiration to make a different killer would be acceptable, but the OP was lobbying for the original vile version...unacceptable.

  • @Grizzley_Hobo said:

Leatherface is based on a real serial killer called Ed Gein. For that reason I don't see why they can't create a killer inspired by the Zodiac killer. Lots of films and books are based on real events so why should games be any different.

I can try to help. Ed Gein murdered 2 people in 1954/1957. The majority of his crimes was defouling graves for skin tissue and bones. Living relatives of the victims did not protest the making of ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’, so I’m sure they were not going to protest a videogame character.

Zodiac killer has murdered 37, in the late 1960s...big difference from FeatherLace’s 2 murders. Acknowledging him in a game mathematically has a 16x more likely to have complaints or issues from the victims’ surviving relatives.

Also, Leatherface is based off the ‘Texas Chainsaw’ franchise killer. A movie, although slighty based on a true story...highly elevated from dramatic effect. Imagine if Devs made his power ripping off survivors’ faces to wear them as a Mori kill.

Distasteful is distasteful. Although you may argue that we base the Zodiac Killer off of the movie version, that movie was NOT an exaggeration of the facts like Texas Chainsaw was.

I don’t understand why there’s so many negative posts about billy on here. I play both sides equally and have many hours in this game and tbh I think the re-work seems fine. A lot of billy/hardcore killer mains seem upset but tell me why right now why a killer with a chainsaw that can down someone instantly, traverse the map in a few seconds, and can use his power infinitely in a chase should not receive a cool down? Take oni for a example, ( I main him) he has an ability that can one shot survivors LIKE billy but you have to either smack 2 survivors off the bat to fill up your power meter or take 1 chase and absorb enough blood to traverse the map and snowball and apply pressure. He is not someone that can whip out his Kanabo whenever he wants and just zoom across the map and just down someone, you need to actually get some chases going in which is why I’ve ALWAYS preferred oni over billy. You cannot just mindlessly spam they chainsaw whenever you want now. I feel like this rework was necessary and I just see a lot of people complaining.

Guess what though? You’re on the forums. Here players can share their opinions all they want. Who are you to say what people can and cannot express concerning their own opinions here? No one, regardless of tenure and/or affiliation with this game has the right to deny another from voicing their opinion.

I just had a Rank 1 game where a SWF had a full team of For The People and Soul Guard. It's kind of nasty tbh. Especially since they were running flashlights. If you slug for even a second, they'll pick them up in your face and bodyblock with Soul Guard. But if you insta-pickup then you're probably gonna get hit with a flashlight.

This is only an issue at like the top 0.1% of Red Ranks, but good lord is it toxic and hard to deal with.

We knew all of this when the perk was announced, sooner rather than later it’ll be on every crutch build unfortunately.

I am sure there isn't a downside, but I do not see a horribly pressing need for this to occur. I am absolutely sure that more customization is something on the Dev Team's radar, but they have more urgent things to attend to.

I know they do, but this is easy. Controlling a character, ESPECIALLY an accurate character like Nurse or Huntress is much easier on PC for a reason. Yes, I do know...yes, I play both. I’m not lobbying to have this right away. It’s a very simple mechanic that nearly every console game has. After 4 years, I think we can discuss this as an option.

  • This extremely add-on reliant killer would be rendered into nothingness with your proposed changes. I’m not trying to be rude, but it seems to me you’re aiming to create a killer that guarantees 4 survivor escapes.

I just bought my last killer with shards.. so any good builds?

Clown is one of the killers I play at God tier. I use many different builds, but this one is not only strong, but extremely fun.

    Warning: Survivors will hate you!

Perks: Monitor & Abuse, Save the Best for Last, Surveillance (or Thrilling Tremors), Pop Goes the Weasel

Add-Ons: Solvent Jug, Flask of Bleach. (Causes Exhausted, extra Hindered penalty)

Gameplay: Clown’s only real strength is the ability to end chases quickly. The first 2 perks I suggested, make it even quicker. Now you can get up to 8m closer before a chase might begin, a great way to catch survivors outpositioned. Hit them with a bottle first. If timed right, this will negate their SB, Lithe, Deadhard...whatever for 30 seconds (don’t worry, the chase will rarely be close to that long) while slowing them down (plus an extra slow from flask of bleach). With some stacks to STBFL, your attack cooldown is reduced so you don’t lose as much distance after your first hit.

The other 2 perks are for map pressure. With chases super easy to win, hooks will come fast, hence why PGTW is even more Godlier on Clown than it already is by itself. Surveillance can give you map information, helping you to decide which gen to use PGTW on, and/or instigate chases. Thrilling Tremors is ok here, but it kinda only shows you the same info, but ONLY when picking a survivor up, rather than Surveillance that will be more frequently used throughout the game (just my opinion, either will work).

Rinse and repeat. I 4k, or 3K with a hatchout most games. If you’re up against a solid SWF 4-man, you may only get 2. Super fun.

There is literally no benefit to sending someone to a cage. None. I've never seen someone fail a skill check on the second phase. You just waste time trying to get someone to run into your trail. His ranger attack doesn't apply torment, either.

You could change it to rapid fire skill checks in both hook stages. That could make him viable.

    My opinion is somewhat different.

You argue there’s no benefit of sending one to a cage. I disagree. You can send a survivor to a cage to counter the oh so terrible DS that has a timer so huge you can hook all other 3 opponents, and the player can still hit it on ya. Or maybe you have 2 survivors closeby, after downing one you can send them to the cage and be right on the other survivor’s butt. This is better than wasting time hooking and letting the 2nd gain much distance or get positioned on a strong tile, and also better than just slugging one and chasing the other so a teammate can pick up the 1st.

As for his minor ranged attack, I do think it should cause ‘Tormented’. The power is very situational and (let’s all be perfectly honest) EXTREMELY easy to avoid/evade as a survivor.

  • Nah, while I’m with the majority that DS provokes countless issues with a gameplay experience, it’s still a tactical move. It’s not like deadhard that can be completely negated by a killer grab instead of a hit. I’m fine with the locker use of DS...

...this does NOT mean I’m okay with the current state if DS.

  • Sorry, I left out frequency. This is the first time I’ve encountered this.

No one can make another player play in a manner that they want them to. Just because I’m frequently playing solo survivor, and many times you get 3 potatos urban evading corners of the map...it doesn’t matter if I don’t like it, I and you, cannot force players to do what we think they should.

  • People have various definitions on what “toxic” actually is. We couldn’t implement a system over 1 word that is so sporadically understood by the community.

And if, by some weird act of lunacy, the Devs would actually consider this, queue times would be EVEN longer...bad idea.

Last night I had a game against a Billy who would hardcore tunnel me and idk why cuz he didn’t do that to anyone else. Long story short I only got hooked once, I stunned him a lot and maxed out all my points AND was the only one to escape and had the most points for survivors. I get a nasty message after the game from him calling me “dog sh*t” “Utter trash” “worst one on the team” claiming that I didn’t do anything for my team and I didn’t even stun him once. I called him salty and he said he was no where near salty cuz he got 3k and I told him clearly you’re salty otherwise u wouldn’t have hopped into my messages trash talking me for no reason lmao. Of course after telling him that he started to insult me more and more lmao

    Funny,

you said he called you utter trash, you didn’t say what YOU said to him. Based off your OP, you instigated the conversation. I can’t speak on that person’s behalf, but IMO, a killer with 3 kills has nothing to be “salty” about, seems to me he was being honest.

  • Not toxic at all. It’s the one (and only) killer 2nd chance perk. You’ll notice the majority of survivors run several 2nd chance perks (except you can’t disable theirs), so no one has the right to complain at all.

  • This only happened once...

but a survivor told me I sucked because I popped T3 with Shape while in the chase. This survivor was Rank 8, good enough to know better. So I’m guessing this rule is: you’re supposed to only pop T3 in the middle of nowhere for no reason LOL

  • I have to vote no. I love the idea, I truly do. But basically, you’ll NEVER have a terror radius. That’s too OP for a game already struggling with balance issues. While nice to see it’s be one of the few things killer sided, it just cannot be allowed.

    Edit:

Yes, the MM is all over the place right now, but who really cares? Yes, the general idea is the higher your rank, the more experience and skill you’ve obtained. However, this is NOT true. Looks to me like you Mr. Rank 10 killed 2 of the survivors with a crappy killer. A draw is an acceptable worse case scenario for any killer player. I’m sure we’d all rather have a draw than only kill 1, or even none.

Purple - two extra shots, and only slightly longer reloading after all shots are fired

Iridescent - two extra shots and normal reloading speed

I think it would give him a much needed buff, especially on console.

I do play both sides, but killer more often. I don’t “main” a side, nor a character...that’d be boring.

I believe SethDinger is already fine where he’s at. While he lacks map pressure, so do many other killers. He’s a God killer for the 1v1 situation, but you have to KNOW what you’re doing...which is why many (including myself) believe the Huntress is superior. They can both end chases quickly, but SethDinger has to work harder for it. Not only do I think he doesn’t need any buffs/nerfs, I think we need more killers that change the landscape of in-game mechanics so we’re not doing the same ol’ thing every game even though we’re using different characters.

  • @Triforcer said:

Like DS, this will change the game even in lobbies where it isn't being run.

Think about what DS does. If you are a killer, and you enter a lobby where there is an obsession, you have to start off assuming all four players have DS. That affects who you chase, who you pick up, etc. It may be that 0 people out of 4 have it, but you still need to play around it.

Lightborn will be the same thing. The survivors will know that the killers know who is bringing a flashlight (unless it is the 6 second equip trick, but a seasoned killer should see that coming anyway and have their finger on lightborn). Therefore, the survivors will assume that the killer will equip lightborn if they see a flashlight. Therefore, the survivor will not equip a flashlight at all. The killer gets the benefit of lightborn without using it!

I can only think of 1 semi-decent (but not good) reason to use Lightborn, new or old. And that would be playing The Shape and you want to stalk a survivor while they’re idle. Like I said, not a good reason but it’s all I can think of.

Hmmmmk, the killer doesn’t get your crown if he kills you. Ya’ll are blowing this way out of proportion. You probably just got tunneled because that’s what the killer felt like doing. I’m sure the crown has nothing to do with anything.

A whole lot of us who play Dead By Daylight choose to play as survivors because that’s the most fun. A lot of these games are great fun for us, otherwise we wouldn’t be playing it.

However, when we have to play this game against people who have played this 500 billion times as killers, and probably do nothing all day long, other than play this as killers, it ruins the fun for a whole lot of us. You people know as well as I do that there is no reasonable chance we have of beating them. This game has also been set up in such a way that gives these impossible to beat killers extreme advantages which make it virtually impossible to win. Maybe you get extremely lucky in 1 game out of 500, but what is the point?

I’ve also contacted customer support and they seem to have given me the run around, saying something about they are working on this issue with their matchmaking software. But you guys know as well as I do that no real changes are being made and meanwhile, we are having to play game after game after game of always losing because there’s no real chance of us being able to win.

Therefore, since these killers are ruining our fun, I say we start to ruin some of their fun too. When I’m playing in a game and I start to realize I’m having to go up against one of these people, I simply quit. I don’t disconnect (like a lot of other people are doing for this reason) because that can get you banned that way. Instead, I just run right up to the killer and stand there. Then when the killer hooks me, I immediately do the 3 escape attempts and when those fail, I don’t press the A button (repeatedly) and allow my character to get killed.

After all, why waste your time with these people? Why not get to other killers faster who are gonna be a whole lot more fun playing against? Also, if enough of us people (who primarily choose to play as survivors) started doing this, Dead By Daylight would have to make some real changes very quickly. There are a whole lot more of us survivors than there are killers.

    Just 3 things.

    1. You said most people play as survivor because it’s more fun. Nah, most people play survivor because it’s easier.
    2. Killer obviously being much harder, you’re this upset that a person put in the time out of love for the game to learn how to be good!? Get real, c’mon. Bare in mind, a good killer has to have taken several big losses to learn and improve...they paid their dues.
    3. Everything else you’ve claimed as justified is totally unreasonable, and unacceptable.
