This makes no sense to me.

Nowhere in the in game tutorials, or perk descriptions does it say that hooking resets exhaustion.

No other timed status effects are reset upon being hooked.

C’mon brutha, not like there’s a valid history of explanations on how things work the last 4 1/2 years. 😋

We gotta learn & figure it out on our own! And we wonder why attracting new people is such a challenge...

  • You simply shouldn’t be Rank 10. The rank system is irrelevant, truly. You rank up way too easily as a beginning player, that you quickly find yourself out-matched because you haven’t:

    -learned basic map tiles

    -learned basic/advanced chase techniques

-acquired perks/add-ons for your loadouts to combat the numerous free crutches survivors are using everygame

I could go on, but it’s really as simple as I stated. Ranking up as killer as a new player is too easy. On the other end, ranking up as survivor for new players (solo) is too hard (everyone just hides, too many 1 hook deaths, too many people killing themselves and disconnecting leaving their team handicapped.

  • It would take far too long to tell you everything. Why not look up the details of all update patches?

This would be way easier than asking the community to recite hundreds of thousands of words.

  • Trolling is a loose word, the concept doesn’t really exist.

The OP mentioned nothing about specific playstyles, specific perks, specific characters...so yea, we’re not going to understand what OP is talking about.

  • If I get a 4E, Im pretty chill about it. Although there are just too many variables: RNG, Map, Killer Selected, loadouts, etc., Ive been playing long enough to work around all of it successfully.

While perks can help carry them, it would never result in a 4E against me (I mean from perks specifically).

If I get a 4E, either I faced good team that made few mistakes, or I had to take a dump and go AFK. Either way, I feel they deserved it.

  • OoO only OP is a SWF of 3 or more that are well organized.

A team with poor communication renders OoO obsolete, even in a 4-Man SWF.

Unfortunately, the game’s been out too long, there’s far too many media videos and “how-to” content that literally leaves nothing you can’t learn about the game from actual gameplay. This of course, leading to my premature opinion that the majority of teams using it will be quite effective with it.

    For soloQ, balanced perfectly.

  • I’d help if I could brutha.

Generally I always bring a Mori me for the numerous “MoriMe” users.

Kudos for having a legit reasoning behind yours, most players I face named “MoriMe” disconnect before the animation. SMH.

Killers just can’t please the needy survivors at all, even generously doing what they ask of ya.

I usually only play survivor or if I do play killer, I play doctor. But I’ve decided that officially I will be maining Nurse. I don’t know what self-hating though in my head convinced me to do so but here I am. It is my second or third week learning Nurse and so far it is hell. It is inconceivable how frustrating and disheartening it is to just barely hit a survivor to only be stunned or left in the dust; especially if I put a lot of work and effort into the chase. I understand that winning is a pipe dream for new Nurse players but it doesn’t ease the disappointment. I want to get better at Nurse and so practice quite a bit. I even watch tip videos and try to work their ideas into my play style. I’m not sure if I’ll ever be a decent Nurse. Do any of you know tips, tricks, or general advice for me. Btw, I’m a rank 16 Nurse at level 50. Idk if that’s relevant but just in case. Thank for even reading this far. I hope anyone else who is doing the same can use theses suggestions as well. :)

All these comments you’ve received and everyone leaves out the most important detail. Learning Nurse is simple, a few matches and you’ll have a general idea of distance/charge times, etc., that is NOT a big issue.

The real trick, is learning survivors. You have 4 opponents with 4 different (not guaranteed) playstyles. Nurse is NOT a chaser, she’s a predictor. You’re not chasing survivors down with your blinks, you’re predicting where they’ll be and meeting them there. The real challenge is learning these different survivors’ playstyles, and the knowledge you’ve gained with reset completely when you enter your next match, then you have to learn all over again.

Do they cutback often? Do they play LOS efficiently? Do they run mindlessly into nothingness(not as rare as you think)?

While you don’t have to be a God killer, you HAVE to be good as being a killer (in general) before you can attempt to be good at Nurse. If this isn’t you, practice other killers first, learn the map tiles, familiarize yourself with normal survivors’ movements. There’s no such thing as a good Nurse player, that sucks with every other killer. When you feel comfortable knowing/predicting survivor movements actions, load her up and repeat games. Won’t take you many before you realize your weakness. Is it blink distances(shouldn’t be, it’s the easy part), is it bad predictions, or is it just basic killer skills like map awareness and pressure?

No easy “this is how you play Nurse” guide will ever exist unless your opponents are the same 4 people every game. Hope this helps my friend, GL.

  • PS4, Mid-USA. 11P-2A EST.

Game crashes repetitively as killer but ONLY as Huntress. Perhaps this is sheer coincidence however. My run today consisted of 19 games, the 3 I did as Huntress got me all disconnected. I don’t mind the depips, they’re too easy to reobtain, but the auto-bans cut my run short this evening.

  • Ok fair enough I suppose. Thx for the input bruddas.

  • I’m always consistently rank 1 on both sides, the new MMR is pairing me with loads of 17-20 opponents that are CLEARLY new to the game based on their playstyle; not very fun for them to just get annihilated if I’m killer...

After looping a killer all game I just get face camped. I ran a rookie Billy for 9:34 seconds, only 2 gens popped...#########!?

  • I don’t see killer locks being an issue right now, time will tell.

However, the idea to have preset custom loadouts you can quick switch to I think would be beneficial, especially with the quantity of perks/add-ons/items/offerings in the game. I’d like to see this added, but for killers and survivors alike.

Hi one of my recent matches I got called out for "camping" and "slugging"

The survivors both rage quit and sent me some messages saying why they ragequit.

I happened to have recorded the match so here is my perspective.

Imo the slugging they were referring to is when you down all 4 survivors and then hook. What I did was down a survivor I had just hooked for pressure and then left them to hook someone else.

I was also called a camper I guess for downing the person who had saved.

I dont know maybe I did camp and maybe I slugged in an unfair way.

Here are the messages and the video.

    For real though...

I can respect your decision to attempt playing “fairly” by the always changing imaginary Survivor rulebook, but here’s the harsh truth:

When survivors die, in a game they’re designed to win, they’ll throw any excuse at you they want as many (not all) refuse to believe they made a mistake during gameplay. Whether it was being TOO altruistic, unsafe unhooks, not making the killer play the whole map...whatever the mistake, most will refuse to acknowledge it.

ImO, you shouldn’t even give the slightest thought to what other players think of you. If everyone in DBD thinks you’re a camper, it literally changes nothing for your gameplay experience, so why I ask us if we think you camped? You shouldn’t care if we think you did or didn’t.

  • All valid points. My solo build is: Kindred/Alert and whatever 2 other perks I decide to bring.

No one in this thread so much as mentioned Alert, but it provides you super information. See where the killer is, know what loops to not bait your chase to because a pallet hasnt dropped, learn what killer you’re facing early game. I think it’s worth a mention.

It synergizes well with Kindred, giving you loads of map info that would normally have to rely on comms for.

Also there's this little fact that other killers cannot be brought up to his level. How the heck would you buff myers to billy's strenght unless the maps were so small or convoluted that the chainsaw is pointless for mobility anyways.

I wouldn’t touch Myers. I think he’s well balanced and doesn’t need nerfed or buffed in anyway. A good combination of skill and patience with added bonuses of stealth and the godly T3 vault speeds and lunge but also has reasonable counterplay.

It's not about the 1v1 with Billy, it's about a changing meta that plays too well into his hands. If I spawn in on Pale Rose or Dead Dawg Saloon and hear a chainsaw, I already know it's gonna be a hatch game. I already know he's gonna be on our asses at every unhook and we'll have one dinky pallet next to a tree as our defense. Maps are having less and less pallets, and he was made when maps had a ton of them.

Fair enough. With the map re-works we’ve had, minimal God loops, no more infinites, smaller sizes...his power would be too much.

Although he was an original killer, would he still have a rough time in Lery’s against semi-decent survivors? Yep. Some maps are killer sided for various reasons. Size, lack of safe loops, etc. Saloon and Hawkins would have to be rated killer sided in my book. But your example doesn’t apply to all maps. A Billy running Rotten fields will have a much easier game than playing in Yamoaka Estate.

I've been smoked by a Clown and I've smoked NOED Freddy. The competency of the players and the map layout play a huge role. Billy, however, had the biggest potential to be a douche just by waiting for unhooks and smacking me back down and soon as my feet touched the dirt. Then he'd zoom back to the other side of the map, check around, zoom back to me and put me back on the hook.

You can't have a killer with THIS kind of mobility plus one-taps when the new maps are so small and unsafe (ex:Dead Dawg Saloon. The devs have talked about how they're focusing on smaller maps like this to ease gen-rushing).

Again all valid points that I agree with. But my question is, if it’s beatable, why is a nerf necessary?

Many things you’ve pointed out with the Clown, Freddy, and even Billy have little to do with the killers’ powers and much more on the player using that killer.

IMO, Doc is the only killer that needs nerfed. He just has too much going for him. An unskilled user playing as Nurse or Spirit doesn’t mean the killers need buffed.

On the other end, killers don’t need nerfed just because some survivors don’t know counterplays. Which killers are being nerfed? What’s the flavor of the week right now for suggested killer nerfs? Spirit.

Most (not all) of survivors want nerfs to killers they have to play smart against rather than mindless looping. You can’t counterplay a mindgame killer with the same basic loop tactics we’be done for 4 years. They don’t want to learn how to counterplay it...so nerf them.

"Real talk, no b8. So in an unbalanced game heavily favoring survivors, our only option is to re-work killers??"

When you start your thread like this, how you can expect a reasonable discussion? Your bias is on display clear as day.

The only remotely biased thing I said was the game is survivor sided. This is a universal fact, not an opinion of mine.

If you don’t think it is, feel free to explain why and I’ll happily debunk all of your examples.

He has the best early game AND late game out of the entire killer roster

Early game he charges across the map to where the survivors spawn. Late game he charges between the gates faster than they could possibly open them. He charges back to every unhook to smack his unfortunate victim back down in 2 seconds. He has a one-tap power on top of this massive mobility. He gets a deadzone map like Swamp and it's a guaranteed win because the survivors have nothing to work with.

Billy came out when the game had an assload of pallets with vacuum. New maps are small with unsafe pallets and it makes Billy a monster.

Respect brutha. Finally some intellect to work with. All of your points are valid and I agree with them all. Strong, very much. Let me ask you this. Did your team lose (4k or 3k and a hatchout) almost every Billy you faced?

If the answer is no, he didn’t need the guage.

  • @Valor188917 said:

I won't tell you why he needs it, there's no point, the changes have been made and they will not be reverted, I've been saying that hillbilly is holding back general killer balance with no other killers being able to close the gap to him for years and it's finally been done. He's a relict of different times where survivors were able to loop people for 2 minutes straight even if the killer was way better.

So you wanted to pop-in, make a biased unsupported claim with no facts that’s off-topic for no reason?? lol

There’s an old saying that definitely applies here:

“It’s better to be silent and have people think you’re stupid rather than opening your mouth and proving them right”.

If you had nothing to add to the issue at hand, why even bother posting anything at all?

You're biased beyond belief if you think that billy didn't need a gauge. He would've NEVER been released in this state in current DBD. or as Snowbawlzz put it:

""omg they added a guage to my perfectly balanced killer with infinite cross-map mobility and one-hit downs ######### ######### #########""

    Again...

you think he needs it. Again, you don’t mention WHY you think he needs it. Want me to change my opinion, no problem. I’m an open and reasonable man, I’ll hear you out. Why do you think he needs it? Your lack of info can only lead me to believe one thing, you don’t know how to counterplay it. Maybe I’m wrong, but you’ve literally told me nothing so far, and this topic isn’t about guages for killers. The topic is about what the next step is for game balance, what’s already done is done, no need to keep talking about it.

  • @Snowbawlzzz said:

"omg they added a guage to my perfectly balanced killer with infinite cross-map mobility and one-hit downs ######### ######### #########"

Perhaps your English needs work. While indeed I mentioned I wasn’t fond of the power guages added to killers, that’s NOT the debate topic.

The question is, what are we doing to work closer to game balance AFTER these changes. If you want to troll my threads, at least have the decency to give input on actual topic instead if derailing and going somewhere else.

  • @Valor188917 said:

It's heavily favouring well coordinated survivors that don't care about pipping and just want to escape.

    Which are RARE.

    Billy needed the Gauge.

    New LF needs a gauge.

    Spirit needs a gauge.

Killers who don't need a gauge don't have one so what's your point?

This is nothing but a disguised "omagah they nerfed Billy, the most balanced who at the same time is better than the whole roster in 90% of situations, killer"

wow dude, you’re literally all over the place. Firstly, I didn’t even so much as mention Spirit, because she has ALWAYS had the power guage, and it works fine.

Billy is (was) a well-balanced fairplay killer. What makes you think he NEEDS a guage?

Leatherface’s only big weakness was too often he was forced to me an M1 killer due to chainsaw charge time and bugs. So why do you think he needs a guage?

Nurse just needed less blinks, we got it (even without the guage). So why do you think she needs a guage?

Little tip for you, if you’re claiming to have a different opinion than someone else...how about you give specifics instead of vaguely saying “They need it!” to help justify why and how you concluded the different belief. Debate 101 dude.

I dunno. When I'm trying to figure out how a power works and I'm down to one gen left within three minutes after one hook and I don't have any good perks yet... I dunno, I feel like there's not much I can learn about the Killer this way. I'm sure some would be able to, but I'd rather Survivors on my own skill level so I can get into more situations.

No killer is perk reliant. Please understand this game just celebrated the 4th year anniversary. Most survivors know counterplay to every killer now, the newer the killer...the stronger they are. Unfortunately at this stage in the game’s existence, this is your only option besides KYF.

    @faff said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1481198#Comment_1481198

no, learning and having games be over in 5 minutes do not match together well.

You can learn alot in 5 minutes. Firstly, you learned that you need ALOT more gen pressure. If the game is over in 5 minutes, that means 3 survivors were forced to take their fingers off of the M1 button. Digest that knowledge, change your playstyle in the next game. Adapt!

  • Doesn’t sound like punishment, sounds like opportunity.

If you’re learning a killer, the best way is to compete against people above your skill level. Does this mean people ranked higher than you are more skillful? Absolutely not. In my experience, about 75% of red rank survivors play like they should be rank 15.

Keep facing decent teams. When you can consistently win or draw more matches than you lose, you have learned the killer.

  • I don’t think anyone doesn’t know he can move around the map quickly. But the power is only weak because it has these conditions:

-The Demo had to be in that area before to place a portal

-Only active portals can give you killer instinct benefits

-Survivors typically close active portals, because it’s tactically smart to render him to a basic 115% movement.

Ok, now let’s look at Shred. Shred attacks can only shut down most loops, if the survivor allows it. The Demo would have to have a perfectly straight smooth pathing to do this as (aside from a few spots like fronts if cars) he can ONLY Shred completely straight.

Demo isn’t a weak killer because of his powers, he’s only weak because they’re too easy to counter. Against decent average survivors all playing solo, Shred is best used mindgaming. Perhaps you’re baiting a Shred to get a free M1 because cancelling it has a very short cooldown.

Everyone has their own opinions, but based on the 23k hours I’ve played this game here’s what I can say that is fact:

Most of the time, Demo has to take a basic attack hit. If you’re Shredding all game, you’re playing weak survivors that just havn’t played against Demo enough to know his counterplays. I play everyone, Demo included. I don’t think any killer is weak, just some that are weaker than others. IMO, Demo is very close to the weakest.

  • Guys seriously...

You don’t NEED to counter BBQ. If 40m isn’t enough time for you to position yourself by a strong tile for a chase, than you clearly don’t understand how to play survivor. The only reason you would ever want to counter BBQ is if you’re hiding in the map not doing anything, and if this is the case, why are you playing at all?

    Kindred/Alert/Deliverance/Empathy

These 4 perks give me alot of info about the match that you’d normally have to rely on comms for...it works.

I don't understand. You're the one who said survivor. I meant like I want to fight Bubba as Plague famo

I know what you meant. I was using survivors as a metaphorical comparison to show why this idea was sub-par. Regardless of the fact that I said the word “survivor” multiple times, if you translate it to English correctly, I wasn’t talking about survivors either. It is simply a comparison.

Perhaps I’ll try a different one. It would be like a basketball game making Steph Curry go 1v1 vs Clay Thompson.

    Or Luke Skywalker VS Yoda.

    Or US Army VS USMC.

Or survivors VS survivors...oh wait, that’s the one that confused ya.

The thought of putting same sided characters against each other just totally wrecks the storyline. This is my own opinion, but I’m not even slightly interested in killing another killer. Look at the movie Freddy VS Jason. You really think turning horror into comedy is a good idea?

I'm sorry but I'm hardly a popular streamer.

Send op some evidence and if he thinks you're better he'll add you to the list lol. Man's seen me play Pyramid head and somehow decided I was the best one he'd seen.

I understand totally. And maybe you are. I was simply pointing out that the OPs original post is biased. A player can only choose “the best” out of people they’ve seen play before, and it’s a single opinion that player is greater.

Example, he placed Tru3 as the best Wraith. While he is a decent player, it took him 3 1/2 years to learn Wraith is more viable using hit and run and avoiding chases? C’mon. Wraith’s biggest strength is 1st hit potential...so make the game all “first hits”. There’s several veteran players that have used this tactic repeatedly.

I’m simply pointing out, no one is going to vote for FakePlayer99 as the best Trapper...even if he really is the best trapper, because people don’t watch him. IMO, just change the title.

  • oh...

so they have to be popular streamers as our options? This is like voting for a President when neither is qualified. While I’m not a God at this game, I’m still better than most streamers you’ve mentioned with some specific killers and I’m sure there are others better than me. So if I’m better than them...someone out there is better than me...why we adding these streamers with lesser skill?

  • @knee_ah said:

Not really... I mean maybe a litte bit faster but I was thinking that these changes would not be so bad considering the fact that you have to use a perk ( Iron will) to counter her.. Against a good spirit even Iron will it's not gonna do anything and you will die guaranteed.

I play both sides and playing Spirit with Stridor is also a thing and is impossible to win against a decent spirit with that perk even when you're playing with Iron will. Maybe if you are a really good survivor you may escape.

And DS is good as it is

It seems to me you havn’t quite mastered her. I’ll break it down.

Killer side: You don’t need Stridor to win, even with survivors using Iron Will.

Survivor Side: You don’t need Iron Will to win, even with the killer using Stridor.

Phase time has a reasonable cooldown, she can’t phase anytime she wants. Regardless of perks, she has to be fairly close to you to hear you.

    Counterplay?

-All killer location info perks, Fixated.

-Walk when you don’t have to run

    -Stop going obvious routes

Your suggested changes are not terrible, but without adding a base speed boost to phasing, Spirit could only use this as a way to approach areas semi-stealthy. While not totally relegated to nothingness, phasing would become weaker than The Pig’s crouch. We’d just make her another 115% no power killer. Why? Because people don’t know how to use her or how to counter her? Bad reason, this is a moment for learning, not a moment for nerfing.

  • Just a bad representation of what the character was supposed to be. Amongst other useless offerings that can no longer be used, I have many of these Splinters still! I wanna BP refund!

  • @SonicOffline said:

I didn't say anything at all about survivors. Who said survivors? I'm not talking about survivors.

I think you need a Dictionary, but I’ll re-word the exact same thing I already said.

”This idea is stupid. An idea for a survivor BR is even more stupid. No to all the above.”

Hopefully you get it this time...

  • If we added these changes, we would have to tremendously increase here base phase speed so Spirit would even have a reason to use it. And if we do that...now she’s just Nurse 2.0...no thanks.

The killer is already fun on both sides. The only ones complaining about not being fun, are the one-trick pony survivors that have no idea how to counter any killer that cannot be mindlessly looped. Along with Spirit, this can be said for DS, Nurse, PH.

Nothing needs nerfed. DS probably needs a buff. But more importantly, survivors need to learn to adjust their playstyle...you can’t counterplay all killers by doing the same thing you’ve done since 2016, use your brains!

  • Battle Royale? No. This idea is as ludacris as putting 50 survivors in one game as a race to finish gens, it’d be kinda boring, and eliminate the little bit of “fear” this SURVIVAL HORROR game has left.

However, I would be open to a 2v8 mode or something of that sort. I’m sure there are several people here that once wished they could have a friend killing beside them.

  • Clown is a decent killer.

Is he going to 4k strong SWF teams? No. But neither will anyone else. You can draw every game with 2 kills using Clown. If you need specific help, I can provide you some great tips to make survivors fear you while using the Clown.

If anything else, think of it like this: If you lose as Clown, it’s expected. If you draw with a 2k, you’re good. If you kill 3 or 4...that’s embarrassing for survivors.

  • No way, it would defeat the purpose of buying in-game content (besides skins) to help fund updates and changes we all ask for. Only licensed characters require real money, the rest require grindage...

a fair option to achieve new content. I could only support this if some type of purchaseable in-game pass for all future content would be implemented.

  • Most SWF issues can be fixed by tweaking OoO. If a SWF is using it, all teamed survivors should have auras shown. Any decent SWF team I’ve ever faced brought it and once they learn that being super altruistic won’t work against me because I’ll just slug them all and they get 1 hooked to death, comms are used to coordinate the gen rush instead.

SWF is NOT a major threat. Yes, you’ll still lose the majority of SWF games on comms, but OoO is the only real problem here.

  • The game is 4v1...

the killer gets to see you and your items for strategic purposes. You don’t need to see the killer, you have 3 other players to cover your misplays.

Example: If you’re attempting Adept Hag as a killer, you may want to dodge a lobby with 3-4 flashlights.

  • No one can prove you wrong. The majority of the community are survivor players...so (strictly a business POV), they throw perks at them to make them happy for all the mistakes they make.

At higher ranks, these perks are abused by good survivors that didn’t make a mistake. This is DBD bruh, get used to it. If you want to win as killer you have to play nearly flawless. And if you do, gen speeds can beat you anyway. It’s not a game designed to win. If you’re the killer, please understand you are EXPECTED to draw every game (2 kills, 2 escapes). If you perform better than that, you’re good...or your survivors were just terrible.

Makes matches survivors lose embarrassing doesn’t it? That’s the core to this game.

  • Some survivors are just one trick ponies. If they go against a killer that they cannot just loop like any basic M1 killer...than that killer is OP!

They refuse to believe that they’re just not that skilled. If they can’t counterplay using the sam basic boring techniques they always have, killer is OP. How dare DBD force mindless survivors to try to play smart. This isn’t a DS or PH issue. They have this same issue with Nurse and Spirit....any killer that forces a survivor to play smart instead of letting them do the one thing they’ve learned in 4 years.

Ignore all the above posts...we’d have to know your playstyle or strategy for marches to as adequately answer your question.

Trying to rush gens? Want freebie second chances for when you make mistakes? Are you being stealthy? Do you want to be chases alot?

You left out too much info. If you let us know what you want to get out of DBD, we can respond accordingly.

Its not. If someone quits on your first down of them, you get a measly 625. Not even close to the possible 2k you get from a 3 hook kill.

The OP was asking if the killer gets more BP with the survivor DC’ing on their THIRD hook, not the first. And the answer is yes.

Hi guys. I was wondering... More often than not survivors tend to ignore terror radius when it's still faint and the killer is far away. I do the same when i'm survivor, and i learned to evaluate how close the killer is by the heartbeat. Now, i would like to mess with them, taking away their ability to discern how close i am and add some debuff in the way.

There's Distressing, which increase the terror radius by a whoppy 22-24-26%, which is something between 7.8 to 8.4 meters, and it pairs well with unnerving presence (harder skill checks) giving me both a good chance at locating survivors and slowing their gen progress, plus the bonus of giving them the idea i'm closer than they think, for them to run away earlier and a chance to seeying them. But i need 2 more perks and i don't know which to choose.

On the other hand i'd also like a min radius build, to ambush them fast. What do you think? Can you help me?

I'd love if you suggest me a max and a min terror radius build and tell me why you decided to go for those perks instead of others.

    Thanks in advance

A proper minimal TR build will vary depending on which killer you’re playing. The only fathomable “One size fits all” method would be: M&A/Furtive Chase, other perks up to you.

With the various killer powers and various killer add-ons, it’d take me all day to give an example for each one. Do you have a (1-3) killer in mind so I can be specific?

  • Rarely do I encounter a serious gen rush. The fastest I have recorded is 4:28, this was only a few weeks ago.

Edit: I mentioned the when of the occurence because it’s important to me that you all understand it was after the update a month or 2 ago that slightly nerfed gen speeds.

Like I said, I rarely encounter this and thus I’m not too concerned about it.

  • Ever? No. I much prefer it over the 2017 version of Gas Heaven. Place was a pallet fortress.
