I mainly say that because the game state would feel frozen for the killer. While survivors still have game progress feedback in terms of generators getting completed and escaping, killers don't. You are playing a game, as a killer, that can't actually kill. You chase survivors around, chew through pallets, perks, and gens getting cranked out. You throw them on the hook and what do you get? A token... it's just not very impactful, it doesn't feel good.
At some point, the reward system needs to up the ante on survivor mains to actually play killer side, a lot more, to realize we as "killers" are a generic term. Which in fact are not killers, but sacrificers. We sacrifice to a high power to recieve Bloodpoints. And if we kill for our own satisfaction, are punished for it. Survivors dont realize that.

This is a confirmed bug, thankfully. There were certain parameters set for Nightfall about how far vision should be restricted, and how bright Dredge should be. They were ignored on the PTB and thus Dredge was as bright as my future on opposite day and the darkness did nothing. This should be fixed on the live release.
Thank the DbD Godz it's a glitch.
But then again, Dredge is a master of shadows. Does Dredge necessary need to be any at all whitelight?
And also, could you pass along the suggest of maybe giving Unfrenzy darkness levels blindness during Nightfall to survivors. Would be appreciated π¬

Well, I've read every single comment in this, i know I'm late, (way way way late) to the party. But I've not seen this subject addressed so, I'm fine to be the one concerned. I love to catch streams of DBD, by anyone. Especially PTB. where as i am a sad console player and can't join in the first-looks of things to come. That said, you do get mixed messeges and missed information. I also watched the Anniversary promo, (and yes i was late, very late, to that very important date) and here's my concern. The Dredge.... when Nightfall dawns onto survivors. Gameplay wise, he IS as Bright as a Halogen Light Bulb in a 6'x6' storage facility. What i been seeing by Streamers in PTB, (as to what has been a mixed message of info on the matter). the quick description spoken about Dredge and his Nightfall in the promo on YouTube, if i recall correctly, says that how the Dredge is in Nightfall. And yet Some Streams very undoubtedly state, its a glitch.
I for one would love a clear clarification on this. And if it is NOT A Glitch.
PLEASE. If anyone cares, turn off the Brights. (Oh and maybe give Nightfall the blindness the same level as Legion gets when coming out of Feral Frenzy to survivors.) I say this as a 60/40 Killer Eccentric.

I usually hide my keys already. I placed them somewhere in the corner of the map or in a chest.
You still will need to pick it up to use it, if the killer realizes (as in the pickup animation) you dropped it, they'll make a point in watching that area, and chase you off from grabbing it back up. It takes just one smack on the survivor in a chase down.
-
Completely disagree. In fact, BHVR needs to buff them. Add 3 or 4 zombies at the least. And buff Leon's flashbang to 2 instead of 1. Addon for them to kill off zombies with a flashbang. And speaking of buffs, make tier 3 a Exposed, one-shot downs like Myers's and extend reach.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/257743/keys-mori
It's absolutely ridiculous how persistent of a complaint keys are from killers. Keys are not a free win, not a "crutch" for survivors either. They are essential against killers capable of stomping survivors with busted builds and broken add-ons. Keys merely level the playing field against these killers, killer mains infatuated with stacking slowdown perks such as Ruin/Undying/Pop and running overpowered add-ons such as Mother-Daughter Ring, Alchemist Ring, Wraith All-Seeing. Survivors struggle immensely against killers running stacked regression perks, and oftentimes keys are their only chance of escaping.
You are THE Epitome of a survivor main. Who probably never gone Killer sided once. And possibly carried by your teammates, even if you solo'que (I'm just assuming on that 3rd fact) Mori's NOW have to be done on final hook or else sacrifice to the Entity. That's the weakest of a game changing decision. (Not to mention that on the Anniversary, they stated they STILL will be changing it for Killers they'll be needing MORE effort to perform a Mori) Either just finish a survivor or kill them outta one's instincts of a killer. That's it.
A key, if even the killer does all they can and plays the game fair, a dropped key on the ground gives that last lazy survivor who done jack nothing all game but hide, let their team die, get an escape. And for what? No effort but playing like a Draco Malfoy.
Or, indeed, a killer trying their best to stave off gens being completely done, and at one gen left, all 4 get to escape. I ask you HOW? Does Death Hook Mori's compare far worse than Keys when killers can do nothing about it from happening?
-
The problem is going to be who it differentiates from the false accusations to the actual true harassment. BHVR is going to have their hands full. Even if it's based on an algorithm determining reports. The spiteful folks who had a bad day. And reports. The claims of hate against the community. The actual reports that are true. The ones playing the game as intended charm or not. It is a small item on a digital character. But it's a large dealing on consequences, on the actions of the player themselves. Because the end result will be a ban. As the answer. Whether they're guilty or not.

it's almost been 5 years since this game is out.
and i know it isn't quite balanced and we have a lot of bugs, but i seriously think we need a new gamemode and as a killer main, i hope they let us have a chance to kill survivors with a friend.
pls read this behavior :(
P.S i remember about a Q&A where they said they couldn't do it, but it's still not too late.
All I ask is simply add more than 5 gens needed for gates. Considering there is 4 survivors for 4 gens, and the percentage of new parts is higher than likely anymore. Even though the majority of survivors wont admit it. The game is over than waiting 30 minutes for one to start in a lobby. I personally save up on 50 Anni-Cakes across many killers. And they're going to waste as Survivors just hide and do gens. It's getting boring as hell anymore. What's the point in chasing when you're blamed for tunneling.
Add more things to have be done before gates are opened. And we just sit in lobby for most of it before another quick trial. Repeat.
But then again. Noone will agree to this.

I have made a post before about spine chill and I have decided in order to get better I'm going to play a few games without it. But I have to ask
To the people who play without spine chill. How is it for you? How often so you get hit or grabbed from stealth killers. Are they a bug problem or not?
Never really cared for Chill. I have the sense to look around and angle myself on a gen as best of a bet as I can to spot a Stealth Killer. Getting caught or hit is more likely because of taking a wrong turn. But never because a got stealthed off a gen.

Then why did you say BT "makes killers need to tunnel"?
It makes them NOT tunnel.
I said the rushed saves make Survivors believe it's tunneling. Which the actuality it is not tunneling. If BT was delayed the lotted rush time to rescue to activate. There be no reason to rush a rescue. Allowing the killer to go about searching. (Survivors not hooked to do other objectives) Instead of being blamed for camping hook and tunneling. Also BT ought to "protect" both survivors but still, rushed saves is abused and if BT didnt activate instantly after a rushed save. Killers wouldn't be blamed for coming back to chase again so fast afterwards. if they go for a insta-save have it not activate for a penalty. Also it wouldn't hurt the survivor if the one unhooked afterwards got stroked after unhook the killer themselves got stunned instead. Like being blinded.

If someone gets rescued with BT, the idea is you go after the one who unhooked them. If it's right in front of you, you should have no problem at least injuring that survivor. Now both are equally injured and both equally easy targets, except one has ~20 seconds of invulnerability, so go for the unhooker.
Duh? π€
-
@Crypticghoul said:
Absolutely, it's a great change.
However, Borrowed Time should also be changed to not be so situational so that it can step in as tunnel protection against all killers. It should be changed to work based on the killer being within 32 meters of the hook rather than terror radius.
There's no reason for Tinkerer/Freddy/Ghost Face/(insert random undetectable or oblivious perk) to just ignore BT.
I agree BT needs reworked. But I also believe Rushed Saves is the issue with BT. More often then never, as a Killer. The sooner I hook anyone. And I start to leave. Someone goes for a save. What am I supposed to do? Let it go? First instinct is I go right back and chase them again. Only to have BT stop me from doing so. BT Makes Killers need to tunnel. Chase down the weakened survivor. To sacrifice to the Entity.
I say BT shouldn't activate until a certain amount of time being on a hook happened. Getting rescued a minute after should be enough for BT to work.
-
Just got done with a trial. Having cooperated on 2 Gens. Solo'd 3 Gens. And NO One was even hit/injured the entire game. Got the gate open. Only to find out Rank 14 Trickster had NOED. downed one. and as we went for a rescue. He Face-Camped Jake. Watched Trixy smack him with the bat of his. While we circled like sharks to break out Jake. We saved him but David got NOED'd I saved David when it was safe. Ran to the gate Trixy had the Freddy perk that blocks the gate for a while long. I get NOED'd. And hooked and camped. Trixy facecamped me. Smacking me with his bat. Nodding at me. Til I died. Trix got 2kills by Faceamping. Technically 1, which was me, and the other survivor who in the end DC'd because he got NOED'd trying to save Jake.

Even when I winning I wanted to DC and I never do. He's so rough and he's slow.
Will probably never play Trickster again unless drastic changes are made especially to his power which is completely pointless to use.
Agreed, his Showstopper doesnt necessarily stops anything more than he regularly can. And I see it as pointless to use, even so when it has a Legion style agonizing stall to gameplay. It's just annoying than anything. And for his lore as a professional knife thrower. It's a nuisance his wild throws are not more accurate

I main pig and the traps are a great time waster. Sure you get the ones that take it off right away but still wastes time. I think piggies traps are fine.
Yea, I agreed they are a great waste of time. But still useless as a tool. Anything can be a waste of time.
-
@EntitySpawn said:
Honestly my idea is they need to find 2 keys, each box gives a key that way it removed the rng of being the first box but is constant then addons can increase the number of keys required. Each key resets the timer. But honestly pig wouldn't be so bad if her dash was somewhat useful and that's the biggest problem not her traps and thats why for me at rank 1 feel she's a little weak, but we have trickster and hes a joke... like seriously using basic attacks is better than his ability and hes 110
I honestly dont care for Trickster right now. He's new and it'll get reworked somehow good or bad. But as for a old character as Pig is. Still has need to be reworked. To me all she does is sneak and slash. That's it. Decides when to put on a RBTs when the player wants. And in the end wastes them because the survivors pull them off just as quickly. But the RBTs are iconic to the character from SAW. But in DbD. A cosmetic useless tool which honestly doesnt slow the game at all when survivors play right
-
@Alice_pbg said:
so...you wanna reuse her traps?
honestly... just increasing the number of traps to like...8 should solve everything related to the rng.
To be fair. I only wish her traps, which are iconic to the character, to be more useful. I have gone through several games were I didnt care I had a trap on my face to still finish off gens. Then the gates are open. And then suddenly I get the trap off and it's a useless cosmetic. Also the idea to usefully wound survivors would ne a nice slow down threat. Not just missed checks during the game to removing the RBTs. I want more useful ways to make them not just a cosmetic contraption on a survivor.

There's also the fact that, in all honesty, Main Event got nerfed, too.
Sure, you auto-throw knives. Sure, you can cancel it. Sure, you no longer lose ammo. But it's still so garbage that you'll rarely want to use it because of that godawful movement speed. But they forgot to mention the change where you now eat a Legion fatigue after Main Event is done. So it's now worse, haha.
Agreed, I main Legion as Robbie the Rabbit for shits and giggles and never use Feral Frenzy. Seems if I use Trickster, it's about to be the same tactics for me. As why bother using a useless "superpower"
-
The Trickster would be alright IF for th we'd fact that he is supposed to be a professional knife throwing expert. And honestly, how is knife throwing going to have recoil? His Showstopper is redundant. He loses it if Trickster doesn't use it right away, why? It's rapid fire automatically, where as holding the button to throw is already a thing. And I haven't yet gone against him. But his endgame running animation is as if he is supposed to be faster than 4.4, which makes it seem he's running with slicked soles. If even you use an addon for a speed boost, it's still not speedy enough for a chase. When he's a regular athletic human being whose been captured alive by the Entity according to his lore.
All-Kill, is All-around just redundant from his actuality from his perspective ability. Deceptively slow for a professional performering artist.
-
All in all, agreed on all points with the latest DLC anymore. But I for one was really looking forward to The Twins. And the idea of Victor being a small stature killer. And not some Tick/Flea that's just a inconvenience. If at all, they botched the opportunity to allow Victor to drive a survivor when he pounced on anyone. Control them into hazards on the map to wound them. Or even straight into the sister for a hit. The sister is also just that, a hitter/tank like force, which she's basically a vehicle for Victor. It should have been Victor to do most damage and be the main focus of the two. But alas, the opportunity was at a loss.
On to The Trickster. (DC Comics gonna love finding out such similarities to this one) I have always wanted a dagger throwing character, but after viewing him how he plays, it feels obnoxious. His name sake foreshadows no trickery, whatsoever. His Huntress like tactics are a rehash, in a manner. I'm just hoping he gets a boost and a better look before reaching DbD officially.

I hate to break it to you, but they're going to treat you that way no matter how you play. I blame either this forum, the steam forums, or the subreddit for this misconception. Everyone's going to give you some crap about ignoring it when you shouldn't have to. Survivors need to not fall into the hive mentality and call each other out. I do it all the time when I play solo or even SWF. I don't play that mess. They're the reason we have EGC.
Don't forget streamers influence on how some may act. Like Sattilizer. Takes every opportunity to tbag.
I use to find him funny, but he's different, solo playing, as apposed to when with another streamer SWFing. Like when with Ohmwrecker.

For Survs it think the worst tactic is the classic "Yamoka offering and 3 murky reagents immersed party", where everyone just puts on urban on P3 Blendette and hides in bushes until the killer DCs out of boredom, as far as i'm concerned it's basically holding the game hostage, I know, it's a horror game, the big scary killer has a weapon, but come on, at some point immersion stops being cute and starts being infuriating
for Killer, pretty obvious, corner trapping, which is actually holding the game hostage
what are your opinions on this?
Ya know what I love to do in this situation. Become a Bush whacker and just swing at everything til I find ANYTHING. Best tactic to this tactic. Can't hide forever.
Plus with the new graphics going on. It is a bit better to spot butts sticking out. Or even they carry items. Especially Medkits that red just pops. It isnt as bad to DC on that map.

Maybe instead of blaming a killer's main objective to KILLING, blame team mate survivors for unhooking, either at 1st hangtime, and or right when the killer just hooked. Survivors have this mentality, that if they get caught. Its because the Killer cheated.
You're being chased by a killer, what do you exactly expect a KILLER to do. It's part of the game.
Go play Outlast. If the big huge dude finds you. And gives chase and catches you. What do you think will happen? It ain't gonna care for your feelings, so why bother with typing up complaints when it's a versus enemy. It's the objective.
Tunneling is used far too much when in actuality, It's just a Killer being a Killer and is chasing their victims. And for the matter of it being 4 survivors vs 1 killer. What's that really say about Team play.

"What I don't get" is the odd fact, when you Do get slugged and bleed out. And say whatever reason(s) you end up a hair close to death while bleeding out crawling on your belly, and then! Chase, smack, chase, down, repeat, kill. And just like the new chests. Hatch oughta be Mechanic as locksmith skills. Brand New Part x2 speed skill checks to open. The option should be able to notify the killer a survivor is trying the Hatch. Bring back Hatch Snatch for killers quick enough to grab a survivor trying to open it.
An idea noone will agree with nor devs actually do. π€·ββοΈ

It's oddly amusing. Every survivor that defends DS, have no idea what it's all about. It was the intention for a break away, that's it.
But no, survivors whined and need that Tea, they need that crutch. Look at why DS came into play. It's Laurie Strode's perk. She has that one "talent" suckpunch stabbing. Might as well been kicked in the nutsac for how DS works. But then you get to abuse it. Survivors got Borrowed Time to work with it. It's not just DS. It 3 Other Perks along with it. But no, Survivors want more. Might as well play in a wheelchair for how many crutches you're given. (Although, I for one would love to see the option to survive while in a wheelchair actually animated into the game)
I recently got into survivor and I reached rank 11 real fast. I solo Que. My main has become Felix. I use Q&Q and Self-Care. With Kindred. I dont bring in items nor search chests. I have always admited in these forums my goal is gens. And i do them pretty damn well, I don't get Great Skill checks but I never pop a gen and make noise. (Pretty proud of that, if i do say so myself). Yea so I'm rank 11 right now. As if ranks matter anyways. But i survive a great deal than die. It's not hard to get gens done. It's not hard to avoid the killer. I have come to see for my self that those who use DS, and combo with whatever, UB, BT, etc. Are mainly the Survivor that's gonna be an asshat. Cocky and Confident. (And their fledgling followers that want to be them.) And if the Devs peg their crutches down a notch. Are the one's defending their perk combo meals.
-
So.. ya having trouble hearing the killer approaching?
-
It's because you only need to leave and "survive" long as you have the 3 original perks of said character.
Killers have to make the effort to kill FOUR survivors with only their original perks.
Survivors dont have to do anything but leave. The killer can easily leave survivors alone the entire trial. And the survivor gets the achievement.
