The only thing they need to do to DS is to deactivate it if the survivor fully heals or works on an objective (generator, totem, heal a teammate, unhook someone).
I don't see the devs doing this, so your best option is to start running mori's in order to bypass it or at least get them to use their DS early in the game. Or play Pyramid Head.
-
I had an issue where it couldn't verify my files and wouldn't let me log on. I ended up reinstalling windows and that fixed it.
-
Start equipping plunderers. You get keys from chests very frequently. Burn the chest offering for extra chests as well.
I only play solo and yes, it sucks, but it is manageable. If you find a key, hide it in a corner and when the hatch appears, go get it and say good by to the potatoes. I can't count how many times I have been left behind to die after constantly running across the map to rescue and taking multiple hits to prevent the killer from tunneling. Heck, I would literally just stand there, motionless, to get the killer to come at me and get off of the unhooked person and still get abandoned. So now, no more Miss Nice Bush.

Killers can hold Survivor(s) hostage, not the game.
By your logic four Survivors could hide for an hour completing zero gens and it would be the Killer's fault for not finding them (This is Survivors holding the game hostage FYI).
Yes, Killers can hold the survivor hostage. I never said they couldn't. Killers can also hold the game hostage if they manage to trap a lone survivor before they can get to the hatch or open the exit gates.
This situation is different due to the poorly planned out power of the Twins. No other killer can be at two places at once. As I stated earlier, the killer, no matter how unfun it may be, made the correct call in order to get a kill. If they attacked with Victor, the survivor would have escaped. If they attacked with Charlotte, they would have escaped. Tell me, what should the killer have done that would have given them a chance at getting a down? Don't forget that the gate switches were probably 99'nd and three healthy survivors would have been ready to body block.
This is nothing like survivors hiding and doing nothing. There are no other objectives left in the game other than for the survivors to escape. The killer was in a lose/lose situation since there were no gens to patrol. There would be no point to chase anyone since they would make it to the gate before they could get downed. Should the killer have just given up and faced a corner?

I always felt that Ebony Moris should have been reworked to be an anti-bully tool. No longer an offering, but something Killers keep in their inventory. Killer can opt to burn 1 Ebony Mori per game to make someone instantly killable (even after 0 hooks) after a 5 second taunting animation (like Trapper running the back of his machete over his throat). The number of which you need to burn goes up depending on how often that particular Survivor gets flagged for Mori - it also triggers a cooldown.
Someone who hardly ever gets flagged for Mori would consume up to 5 depending on the ratio. Also Killer can't burn another Ebony Mori for 1 hour per charge consumed. This would mean just rage-Moring would be extremely costly and not something you could do often.
Someone who gets flagged for Mori much more often than the average survivor would consume as little as 1 without any cooldown.
Killer doesn't know ahead of time how much Moris would cost to prevent abuse.
If this mechanic were to go in place, I think you'd see *a lot* less bullying/toxic gameplay, as I know I would only use Moris on clickers/teabaggers... and I think the vast majority of killers like me who were sitting on dozens of Ebony Moris, never really feeling the want/need to run them, would probably do the same.
It will never happen. Bullying is what many survivors play this game for. The love the feeling of control that they get from knowing the game and know that it is designed to give them every advantage in the match. Lots of people would deny it here on the forums, but the after game chat death threats and insults are evidence enough for me that toxicity sells, hence why they animators were careful to not do away with t-bagging.

@Huge_Bush If I'm remembering right, the devs have said that killers body blocking in such a way is preventing the survivor from participating in normal game play, which is a reportable offense.
All the gens are completed, the only thing the trapped survivor can do is escape if the killer didn't block them. I'd like to know if killers are obligated to let the survivor go in situations like this.
People in this thread have put the whole blame for OPs poor experience on the killer and refuse to acknowledge the fact that their teammates were also at fault for not leaving. I'd like to know the devs stance on this as well. Is it only killers who can hold the game hostage now?

Top 3 Favorites:
Trapper - I love setting traps where survivors don't expect them to be. I also love his power walking animation.
Doctor- I love making people scream, even though I am not great with him.
Hag- I love jump scaring people by pulling them off a generator after they unknowingly triggered my trap.
Top 3 Disliked-
Freddy - I just don't like him, his power doesn't feel interesting. He is as boring to play as he is to play against.
Billy- I am bad and can't control his saw to traverse the map. I don't want to invest a bunch of time learning him, I'd rather just play and have fun.
Nurse- Her fatigue gives me migraines.

No problem, sorry for creating more confusion, I hope now it's a bit clearer to everyone.
I don't mean to be difficult, but in this specific situation, it isn't clear.
Three survivors were able to open the gates and trigger EGC and escape. They felt entitled to a four man escape and refused to leave. The killer was in a lose/lose situation. If they controlled Charlotte, the trapped survivor would have crushed Victor and escaped. If the killer player chose to attack the survivor with Victor, the survivor would have escaped with the aid of their teammates since there were 3 healthy people who could have body blocked for them. The best course of action for the killer in this situation would have been to do what the killer in question has done, to stay put and let the other survivors escape and let the EGC kill the remaining player.
In your third post on this thread, you say to disregard your post that confirms what I was saying about holding the game hostage. So, are you, in essence, saying that the killer would only be punished and not the survivors? Are not the survivor players equally holding the game hostage? Or do the devs believe that only killers can hold the game hostage?
-
No, when you master his saw and are able to control it without hitting obstacles/environment, you are a force to be reckoned with. You just have to learn how to chase survivors properly. His saw allows you to catch up to sprint bursting survivors and down survivors that have borrowed time procc'd since it usually hits them twice.
He isn't top tier, but a good Bubba that knows what he is doing is extremely dangerous.

Well logically, the devs and mods have both (many, many times) answered this kind of topic as such; which is why I am able to answer with an absolute and not an assumption.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1881269#Comment_1881269
That's enough, trying to escalate an argument is helping no one, much less OP or anyone else caught in that scenario. Please refrain.
Well, you're wrong in this instance. I linked to the thread where Peanits explicitly states that holding the game hostage is when the killers prevents the survivors from finishing the game. The killer was not holding the game hostage. Griefing, perhaps, but due to the nature of the new killers, the devs have to clarify it for situations like this.
The survivors were holding the game hostage since they had every opportunity to open the exit gates and leave. If the whole team of survivors were in a room together, such as the lone generator room on the second floor of the house in Freddy's map, and the killer blocked them in there by standing in the door way, then that would be considered holding the game hostage.
If all the survivors were dead except one and the killer managed to block the survivor in a corner and not move, that would also be holding the game hostage.
What is described here is not holding the game hostage.

Griefing is reportable.

Lol, you've already spent more money than any human being should spend on a game. I'm starting to see why so many people, especially survivor mains, feel entitled to bully the Devs. You spend more than $100, you start to feel like you're the reason they're still in business
They are the reason they're still in business. If it weren't for them, the devs would have to work harder to attract players to spend money and keep playing the game.

Even though it's not holding a game hostage, body blocking like that is considering griefing and is reportable.
I wasn't arguing that, just the body blocking. Even then, I doubt anything would happen to the killer. They were trying to secure a kill, they had no objectives to go for, the sister blocked one exit, and the gremlin the other. If they switched to the sister, they could have crushed victor and gotten away, if they attacked with victor and missed, they would have gotten away. Their only option was to move and lose or not move and get a kill. The fault isn't on the killer but on the devs and their bad design.

It most certainly is holding the game hostage. Blocking someone in a spot whether it be a corner or the boiler room even with egc active is griefing. The killer was nodding at me the entire time. taunting the fact that i was stuck there.
Here is what Peanits said:
We only consider it to be holding the game hostage when there is no possible way for the game to end.The killer did not prevent the game from ending, your team was. They had the opportunity to open the gates and leave.

This. I prefer killer over survivor, but even if you offered me a 10X BP bonus I wouldn't play as much anyway. Killer becomes like a job after a few matches. Boring, stressful and not worth the effort at times. Survivor's not that much better since I solo, but it feels far more relaxed than killer does.
Yea, I can only play 3 matches in one night then get discouraged and not play for a week or more.

cant kick victor when the killer is controlling him. lol
Sorry, my bad, I was thinking the little turd was just on top of the stairs and you couldn't get the prompt to kick him cause you're lower. It sucks, but it shows how little development was put into them. With all the complaining about camping and slugging you see on here, you'd think the Devs would think twice before they'd release a master at it.
It sucks, but it still isn't holding the game hostage. It would be nice to be able to kick the little turd if he doesn't move for 3 seconds or something, just don't hold your breath, it would probably be implemented in 2 years since 1 out of 100 people play them.
-
No amount of Blood Points will encourage players to play killer more on a consistent basis. Most have BBQ to farm points and there is a limit to how much harassment one can take. Maybe if they gave out shards, but even then, cosmetics that can be purchased with shards are rather bland except for the holiday stuff.
-
Never purchased any cosmetics except with shards.
I only spent money on the base game that came bundled with Stranger Things, Freddy (which i regret, I don't like him or his perks), and I think thats it. All other characters I have are from shards. I wish I got Bubba instead of Freddy though, I had to wait a long time for BBQ to appear in the rift.
-
This may sound harsh, but that was your teams fault. One of them could have come to kick victor, though the devs should allow you to punch him if hes a little higher than you. Also, you as a survivor should be more aware of your surroundings. It may feel like the killer held you hostage, but it was really your team that did since the killer wasn't preventing them from completing the objectives.
I will agree that the Twins are poorly designed though, it should have never made it out of alpha testing and just carried over victors design to when they get the license to Chucky.

Okay, we hear that a lot. Remove this and nerf that, Ruin is unfun, DS has no counter, Franklin's is toxic and no one should ever run Dead Hard, the list goes on.
Then, what is a genuinely fun build to go against in your opinion? What should your opponent use more?
Personally, I like to go against Scratched Mirror Myers on Lery's because it manages to scare me every time.
Hell no, I physically can't loop long and rely on stealth, Scary Wall Hack Daddy Meyers turns me into a complete potato. Worse than a potato, a radish!
-
If you have an Nvidia card, you can use a filter to brighten it up. Also, lower your graphical settings. I find that Ultra is too dark for me.
-
The only issue I have with BBQ is how whoever I am grouped with never use the counters against it. It just makes me hate survivors more than it does killers.
If the developers do lose their minds and nerf it, I really think killers would either quit out of spite or choose to just camp the first hook much more often out of spite.

All brown add-ons should be removed from the game. Moris should be made base-kit. Frequency of yellow and green add-ons increased. Every web (or every other) web should have a map offering. Hatch and Basement offerings should be removed. Both should have never been introduced.
-
She has counter play. You can loop her and mind game her, granted, it's not easy, I can't since I am bad, but I have seen some good survivors waste plenty of her time.
Your other option is to stealth against her. If you see her often enough, you should just run Spine Chill, and when it lights up, stealth towards the direction she is coming from while using the environment as cover. You can wasted plenty of time doing this since many of them start to look behind every nook and cranny trying to find you. I always have a little giggle watching them look for me.
I'd rather face a Spirit over a Freddy any day.

Yeah with the last Q&A they made it very clear they suck at playing survivor.
"I find it harder to pip as survivor than as killer"
Like how?
Are they playing with their eyes closed or something as survivor?
It's the most easiest and most relaxed part of dbd and to pip, it just shows how little they actually know about their own game.
I mean you don't have to be a god player as a dev, but sucking at the easiest part of the game sure tells a lot
No, they shouldn't be the best players, but they should know the characters they create and balance inside and out. If they're just not good enough to, they should have hired testers as good as the top streamers and balance around them.

As for add-on's, should i run the "slow the game down" build with the extremely long mending time. Or should I run with the recovery time?
I'm sorry, I don't know, I don't play killer much, my Legion has been collecting dust for a while. My advice is from my experience from playing a survivor and paying attention to what killers run when I face them. If I had to pick, I'd pick the recovery time because good survivors will opt to not heal and push gens.
-
I don't play him much, but almost every Legion I face always runs Discordance. Ruin and Undying is really good on him since he is constantly chasing people off of gens. Tinkerer is also great on him to help with the ruin regression.
As far as strat, don't fall for long chases, his best strat is to prolong the game as long as possible to bore the ever daylights out of the survivors. Crush their spirits.

I think it will take you a full month most likely as there are a lot of ignorant people who actually think it is OP 😂
Trust me I know. I only play solo and rarely ever play killer.
Don't worry, I won't ever underestimate the devs. When the Devs nerfed Huntresses lullaby to no longer affect the Doctors madness skill checks, I wondered why, it was never really that hard, and the counter wasn't too terrible, just find the totem. Then I found a video that shows one of the devs playing against the doctor and missing every skill check over and over and said thats not how it is supposed to be....and it was nerfed.
-
Almost everything on the map is designed to give survivors the advantage in a match. The basement is the one strong thing that killers get, there is no need to do anything to it. It is not impossible to rescue from the basement unless it's Bubba, which is very rare to face. Even then, as others have stated, you have a responsibility to be aware of your surroundings when playing this game.
-

Yes and no... if gens are popping, it's a lost game and they will tunnel you to prove they are better. Not better than the other 3 players, just better than the person who lost them the game.
In that case, you won the match for your team.
-
I wish more people would go in lockers when the killer downs someone. Lots of games are lost because bad loopers get easily caught and go down in 10 seconds. Even when I get in a locker in front of someone, they don't take the hint.
As for the subject matter, no one truly believes BBQ is OP except for the truly ignorant. I doubt the Dev's will ever touch it, it is one of the healthiest perks in the game.

It's the classic dilemma, time or money. You can waste more time loading into the game and just ignoring them, or you can deprive them of easy bp by closing it on them during loading screen.
It boils down to what you consider the biggest middle finger.
I rather waste their time, I feel that it causes them to rage more and that brings me joy since they don't consider my feelings when they play the game like this.
-
Best defense is to learn how to loop. The better at looping you are, the less desirable to the killer you will look.

It's better to close the game during the offerings screen, it will take 3+ minutes just to let them go back to queue
But it's longer to wait for the match to load, run around and do totems in case the killer has noed, do all gens and try to goad me into chasing them. I don't mind alt+tabbing to so I can watch WandaVision or plenty of anime choices.

I'm not asking for convincing to play the game. I'm frustrated with the legitimate lack of actual fun in the matches that I am getting. I cannot get into a match where I'm happy with it. Mostly it's team mates that would rather be doing anything other than what needs to be done, or doing things in the Red ranks that someone in that experience of play time SHOULDN'T be doing.
It's just not fun and it's frustrating because I want to play.
What you are describing is the game. It will never change. The Devs refuse to balance around high level play, they refuse to change core aspects of the game because they're too chicken that people will stop buying cosmetics or lose even more killers, they cannot fix matchmaking because there are too many variables to account for. Dbd is a game of frustration, the devs know it and design with it in mind. All of the issues you are having are a permanent part of the game.
This is the best the game will be unless Behavior injects fresh blood into the development team.

I have, I seem to get sweaty, bully survivors that put me right back in the mindset of this isn't fun. I don't mind chasing, and pallet stuns and stuff. It's the super sweaty, bullying that I run into, and I'm not even that high rank.
That's the normal experience for killers except for really good killers who have mastered their characters. I am pretty sure the person you are responding to was being sarcastic.
If you want the killer role to be a chill experience, pick Bubba, hook a survivor and camp. If you enjoy potatoes, I recommend you have some on hand because the survivors will give you plenty of salt to use.
In all seriousness, if you need someone to convince you to play a game, then that game is no longer fun for you and it would be best to try something new.

I can attest to bloody coil only being useful at shack. I've been having 1ks and 2ks because of coordinated teams, in which case these add-ons didn't mean #########. Then one game I put someone in the basement and trapped it up. That game ended up being a 3k and would have been a 4 if I wasn't getting gen rushed so hardcore. It's funny: "killer" shack is the most survivor sided tile in the game, and rests just above basement, the only killer sided tile in the game.
It's why I run either Agitation or Iron Grasp with Trapper. If there is a shack basement, I'm hauling your butt to it. I don't play without bloody coil, I pour all my blood points into it just to make my matches fair.
Now if they're potatoes, I will allow them to reset by walking to the other side of the map, but if they're sweaty, nope, I'm not going to sweat, I'll just stand upstairs and let them trade hooks.

He gets a teeny buff once every few major updates basically....
Resetting traps on the ground took years....getting a slight consistency buff to his traps took years....
It really pisses me off when I think about how long Trapper has been needing a buff and the devs are just sitting on their hands. Wasn't there a chart where he was the most popular killer? You'd think they would have shown him a little love to please their players, but nooooo.
His red add-ons are good. Bloody Coil is a death sentance to anyone who gets put into a shack basement, there isn't really much they can do to buff that without making it overly difficult for survivors. I thought about them making it base-kit since I think there should be some risk to survivors when they choose to counter a killers power, but basement builds will be out in full force and the forums will be flooded with tears.
Iridescent stone should be buffed to where traps reset after 20 seconds instead of 30.
All he really needs is for Trapper bag to be made base kit, buff to base kit trap settings and automatic trap acquirement when he walks over disarmed traps. As things stand, game goes way to fast to be "fun" when playing as Trapper unless you get potatoes.
-
I have come to the belief that they have no intention of fixing the many bugs and issues this game has. It seems like they just plan to do what they keep on doing and that is pump out more chapters and figure out how to make more money.
It won't get better until the player base shows that they have had enough, but with the amount of onsie cosmetics I have seen after the terrible last chapter, it doesn't seem like thats the case.
