  • Can't say this sounds like a good idea to me. This would encourage tunneling massively. If the unhooker and unhooked both get endurance on the unhook it's generally more expedient to go after the unhooked surv since they already have hook states. We don't need to encourage tunneling anymore.

  • Depends on the situation. It someone's desd at 5 gens i have no objection to someone giving up, alerting the killer and getting themselves on hook to go next. But when someone starts to actively throw or sandbag at the start or while the match is winnable then I'll report, not that it does anything.

  • People debate ideas. And usually there will be more people who disagree in a thread because if people agree they usually won't respond. It doesn't help there are a lot of poorly thought out, half baked ideas. I don't see why inclusion is being brought into this.

"Last night i had a wesker try to gaslight me that he seen me with barbecue, problem is I’ve been running self preservation which has elusive now"

Lol i had the exact same situation with a Wesker recently. Dude tried to hide his wallhacking behind BBQ but I had Self Preservation. It's fun testing them, and hiding in some total random spot and they still beeline to you. People cheat regardless of the role they play.

Just had the same with a nurse too. Knew where we were at all times, did have aura read perks but wasn't triggering my distortion. Still knew exactly where to teleport for the hit when I was hiding uninjured.

  • Lol reminds me, I had a good old fashioned basement camping billy earlier today for the first time in foreve. It actually backfired on him pretty badly. First chase got us 2 full gens done. Then once he'd downed his victim and took him to basement, he sat just outside face camp range and waited. The other 3 of us all sat on different gens and worked them through the hook timer, popped all 3 just before the sacrifice popped and got a 3 out.

I have to fine tune my own killings as a killer to not raise my mmr sky high or else it goes from 4ks in 5mins to 0ks in 5 mins.

And at this point ill rather have split playlist even if it makes queue times longer since right now this is absurd..

Like ranked should be fully unfiltered while casual playlist should be proper diminishing returns fully like not allowing premade tryhard swfs to stack perks and synergize that well.. while in ranked they can go ahead because im never touching dbd ranked if it ever becomes a thing lol.

I work fulltime 8 hours sometimes 12h shifts, i dont have time to just practice killers or main specific one with specific meta build at that time or follow perk builds all the time.

Mood. I work long shifts too. And am often away for 4 days at a time so my dbd game time is severely limited

The matches I enjoy the most are the ones where everyone is alive but on death hook with around 1 gen left. At that stage, everything has been pretty even and anything could still happen. These are tragically uncommon though.

Yup. Those are the games I live for when it's down to the wire.

that perk said some code about Blast Mine

I was about to say, if they appear to be lagging in game but doing well then probably lagswitching. But that postgame picture (if it isn't doctored) is weird.

  • I don't see her much but when I do I get absolutely hammered in that game. She needs some kind of counterplay in chase, eating the mushroom is way to slow and gets reset almost instantly. Maybe buff the mushroom or slow down her infection a bit, make it harder to hit the ranged attack or make it so that it has to hit more than once to fully infect the surv.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/466493/what-sucks-most-about-this-game

Pretty sure its highly related to how MMR functions and a lot of perk balancing would be easier to balance out if they just had a proper MMR system that works really well with diminishing returns the upcoming system in play.

Because i see a lot of survivor teams sometimes play like their irl life depends on it like they are playing for money prize pool, and sometimes i get 4ks and then i just play according to that but no its not fun at all getting 0ks when you play ideal cut corners and cant outplay full vc cordinated swf that plays like there is money on the line.

There is a clear difference between regular swf for fun and the ones that tryhard and the tryhards are more often as of lately.

Praying the diminishing returns + upcoming mmr changes prevent that and balance the game more around 2K than 0k and 4k.

Yh the mmr thing is an issue. More finely tuned mmr would take forever to make a completely even match. Personally i prefer the idea of a playlist split, one ranked playlist with extra prizes to incentivise ppl to play hardball. And a casual playlist where ppl can take it down a gear, and not feel the need to always run meta builds or tunnel.

And yh killer 4ks do get incredibly boring. I practically always let 1 or 2 survivors go in my killer games where I'll win. Unless I'm going for an adept or the surv team are being particularly toxic I have literally no motivation to play for the 4k. Like when i have 2 players dead and the other 2 double hooked at 2 pr more gens left, I know I've won, so do they. It doesn't cost me anything, except a paltry amount of bloodpoints and maybe a couple minutes to allow them to finish gens or look for hatch. And it makes the game way more pleasant for them.

  • In today's episode of just leave.

I have no idea why so many survivors feel the urge to wait and teabag at the killer if they are in an exit gate or over hatch.

If the killer has played like a toxic pos then I kinda get it. But if survs have managed a landslide win and dominated the killer then doing this is real pathetic behaviour.

It is satisfying when you manage to catch someone unaware when they do this though lol. Nothing more satisfying than iri coin spearing someone with deathslinger while they're waiting to disrespect you.

See, I don't see that because I run gimmick/thematic builds as both roles and as a variety of killers yet I only get smacked when i play poor. Even in 2v8 there was no sweating and still broke even. Its sweat because people think the other side is gonna sweat, which then causes you to sweat, then causing the other side to think this and it goes on and on and on.

If people use it as target practice then its currently no different than what we got right now. Theres already killers running experimental builds, just like theres ones running whatever the latest thing a famous streamer told them to. There's all types of people running about. What would need to happen is that those target practice matches become uncommon. What i see is a miniscule improvement to the sweats at the cost of q times at best. Most likely outcome is no improvement at the cost of q times. Worst outcome is the devs screwing up a lot of unrelated things trying to implement this with no improvement for casuals.

In all honesty the atmosphere in the game is so negative right now it's honestly hard to make it worse.

While whole heartedly agree with this, would rather a positive change than a side grade one. Or at the very least one that's not a complete gamble on the community's self regulating behavior.

Wait so during this conversation, you've said people were playing 2v8 like a sweat fest and then said that your personal 2v8 matches were fine? Pick a lane.

Just because your games are perfectly fine apparently doesn't mean it's like that for the majority of the player base. Just need to look at the forums to see that the majority of players, experienced or not think that the current situation sucks.

And if they add a casual playlist then they simply need to do a trial period. If it impacts queue times and games are still just as bad as before then theybget bad feedback, it's a failure and they roll it back and move on. But if it does tangibly improve the situation then they keep it. It works this way with every game I've played that has a ranked casual playlist split. If I'm of a mind to get the prizes, I'll play ranked and sweat like a fat dude locked in a sauna, and when I need a break, I'll switch to casual/quickplay and take it down a gear, games will be a mixed bag but the atmosphere is a lot more relaxed and less stressful. At least I know what I'm letting myself in for.

The matchmaking won't matter, in my opinion, because the new player experience is so awful for survivors. I have multiple friends who uninstalled because of "strategic" gameplay. They did try killer and found it easy and boring. But since they bought it to play with friends, they just uninstalled. They wanted to play with friends, not the killer side of the game. Matchmaking can't exist when the game is heavier on one side. People don't want survivor solo queue. And to keep queue times lower, everyone that can fill a lobby is thrown in. My friends and I have 2.5k, 6k and 2k hours and we get a random with 100 to 500 OFTEN. As far as killer advantage goes. In my games, the doors tend to spawn INCREDIBLY close, if not on the same wall. The new trickster map was designed so that a killer can stand in a single spot very close to the doors and watch both. The hatch, if it doesnt spawn at the survivor, is in favor of the killer, because they can move freely. The last survivor has to be very cautious to find it. ButI agree that it needs to be fixed.

This is my biggest bugbare with the endgame, how last survivor alive after a 3k can just end up in an absolute unwinnable position. It's been a tiny bit better recently, with the secret hatch offerings. Killers always assume you bring hatch offering for shack so bringing the one for main is actually kinda handy, plus if you bring a key then you're almost guarenteed out unless killer is particularly clever.

But unless you dedicate your offering AND item to it then it's a crapshoot. Even M1 killers have the advantage in a hatch serach. And a lot of killers have basekits that seem tailor made to deny the exit gates opening in a 1v1. Even weak killers like twins and trapper can make it practically impossible to win in that situation.

Imo the gates should always spawn on opposite sides of the map, low profile should be basekit and in endgame opening a chest should guarentee a key.

  • @Green_Sliche said:

Game needs a proper equalizer mechanic where things change when one side is clearly performing too well compared to another. Unfortunately devs refuse to do that and delegate that to ''randomness'' of everything and it's MM system.

Yeah I've suggested this before, something to bump gen speeds when killer gets lots of hooks/an early kill, and to do the ipposie when killer has 1/2 hooks states and 3/4 gens are done.

  • @Wezqu said:

Of my last 30 survivor and killer matches there was four 0k's and one 4k so that is 1/6 of these matches with those results so at least by this small sample 4k and 0k are not the most common endings even when counted together.

For you. That doesn't mean that every player sees those results. Take a broader sample and you'll see they are a lot more common.

  • Sometimes I'm glad i play on xbox and have no access to the postgame chat. when I do well in a killer game against toxic survivors the idea of them screaming into the void and getting no response amuses me

  • I do love a bit of phas. Should really try and get my old team together to play some.

At this point I feel like this games cheating is as bad as it is in tarkov. I just don’t trust anything anymore. I used to think it was a thing but it never felt as bad as it is now. Whether i’m playing survivor or killer theres always a few times a play session where something doesn’t feel right.

Last night i had a wesker try to gaslight me that he seen me with barbecue, problem is I’ve been running self preservation which has elusive now. When I explained that he just said gg ez and left.

I always knew survivors subtle cheated pretty often, but running self preservation with bond has revealed that subtle cheating it is even common among killers.

I hate using elusive perks and trying to play stealthy but this is how i’ve been finding more and more of them.

Honestly it's enough to make me want to turn off crossplay. I play on xbox and the majority of cheating is down to PC players since it's easier to access cheats on PC. if only it wouldn't absolutely tank my queue time. Or if I could opt to play with PlayStation players to mitigate the queue time.

I've always considered cheating at video games to be particularly pathetic. Like how does a win have value if you had absolutely no risk of losing?

Which then makes us ask how it's a no brainer to help

Regardless of that, for a admittedly sketchy example of what is likely to happen, look to 2v8. People were playing like lives on the line, Slugging to secure kills despite the self pick ups, and everyone thrown into the mix (experienced, casual, newer players). And the q times for normal trials were hampered and still the same (atleast 2 versions ago, didn't try the last one).

Your correct that this is all theories from both us, however players have shown their... vibrant personalities...often enough that there's reasonable proof of it going sideways

2v8 is a bad example because it's so 1 sided. If killers don't sweat on 2v8 gens get rinsed in no time. The main reason i think a playlist split would help is because, currently the whole game atm is an arms race. When I play killer, i know that if I don't run a meta build or a B tier or higher killer, I'm going to get absolutely clapped. I'd love to play experimental builds but I don't have the freedom to. Conversley when I play survivor i spend souch time getting stomped in landslide 4ks that when I come up against a weak killer I will gen rush and juice as much time as I can in chase to get the escape.

If you add an explicitly casual playlist, yes some players will use it for easy wins, because people are asshats. But. There will be enough players who are tired of the constant sweatfest that dbd currently is to have some halfway decent games. Killers running weaker, experimental builds, not playing for 4ks like their lives are on the line. surv teams who won't be losing 9 out of 10 games. So will be a little more relaxed and less toxic. In all honesty the atmosphere in the game is so negative right now it's honestly hard to make it worse.

One of the many repeated reason is it wouldn't separate them to a satisfactory degree. Sweats would go to "casual" for warm ups, people who want to just make others miserable go to either, and casuals are still left with the same thing only with possibly longer a times.

If you put exclusives then the majority flock to that screwing over q times for the other and depending on how you get said exclusives wouldn't separate them at all as a casual would go to ranked just for it.

It really wouldn't help more than it hurt.

All theory unless it's actually tried and tested. People always say "it won't help enough" but tbh the mmr at the moment is rancidly bad. When I play surv I'd say I get a fun balanced game maybe 1 in 20 games if that. Killer i get a better balance but well over half my games are one sided stomps.

Can't really say if a playlist split would help unless bhvr actually tried it. Otherwise it's all just theoretical

  • @BloodDiamond said:

Just do a ranked queue and casual queue already.

In Casual you can gain bloodpoints and do challenges, but you don't rank up for the monthly BP bonuses or gain XP for shards.

Either that, or do a "Barebones Mode" where perks, items, addons, and offerings are disabled.

I suggest this a lot too, maybe even make more prizes for ranked, like exclusive skins. But people seem weirdly resistant to it. Not sure why, seems a no brainer to help separate the sweats and the casuals a little.

  • @Rivyn said:

I can't be the only one here that feels this is stupid, right? Why do we need a survey to express our disappoinment with cheating? Shouldn't that be a given? That's like the police sending a survey to a crime ridden area asking how the residents feel about crime. It's redundant.

'Maybe' it's just a way for them to get a number to share with their higher ups, show its a big deal? That's a stretch, obviously.

At least being surveyed on it shows they're considering doing something. So we make sure the survey says they need to take action and we have a better chance thay they will actually do something.

There's already massive amounts of forum posts about it

  • @Fog_King said:

I don't like that people just throw others to the killer, giving away their position. It's a game. You might no survive, you might feel unfair that your character dies before another player that in your opinion was less useful that match, but that is not an excuse to try to sell another person's position to save yourself.

A few year ago, I remember I had a match where it was only me and a Claudette left, against a Hillbilly and she was injured. I ran empathy, so I could see that he found her and they were trying to find me, so I just had to keep away and eventually the killer was fed up and killed her, while I got the hatch. In this case, she got what she deserved, but if it was the other way around, I wouldn't bring the killer to her. I would just have let the killer kill me and move on.

Yh the 2 survivors left situation is always tense. Personally for me it's just whoever the killer sees first is going down and the other has a chance at hatch. Usually if I get caught I'll just try to speed up the hook so hatch spawns. And if I'm on the other side I don't tend to go for the unhook unless I know killer is well away from it, sonce it usually just reults in both players going down.

  • Lol I was just thinking today we should get an "Old man" hunk skin from the new resi evil game. Definitely down for all of OP's suggestions though, especially a unique mori.

  • Public comms wouldn't be good for dbd. Definitely not proximity chat between killers and survivors, that would be salt city, and I don't fancy trying to mute a toxic or hot mic killer midchase. I don't need to hear slurs mid match just because I'm running a good chase.

There's more of an argument for survivor comms but that would still probably do more harm than good. I find surv team mates get salty just as much, if not more, than my opponents.

  • Yeah I'd like to see this too. Would be difficult to implement though. I think insta grabbing off of gens would be unfair. The free hit (maybe with some kind of debuff) and element of surprise for the follow up would be enough. And making a subtle difference that isn't super obvious or too hard to spot would be very finicky.

  • Yeah i think ghostface gets a lot more flak than he deserves. Going undetectable is so strong a lot of people sleep on it. I think he suffers at really high mmr because you can end up with that one surv who's a god in chase constantly revealing you and is almost impossible to m1.

But if that doesn't happen the hit and run potential is amazing. I run undetectable perks on a lot of killers and it gives me so many free hits and downs. Been playing a lot of nemesis recently with a gen kick build and trail of torment, and it's amazing how many jumpscares i manage with him.

  • Does seem odd that they can't be levelled while killswitched. As they will come back at some point. Should be useable in customs too

  • Certainly helped my demo p100 grind. I got like 2/3 prestiges per game session

  • Yeah I've noticed this when I'm playing survivor, since everyone and their mum is running this perk atm. They should make it cycle through survivors one by one. We already have enough issue with tunneling without rng incentivising it.

  • @Lorelei_Albrecht_TTV said:

Well I for one don't think people should be able to reset their condemn mid chase for example. You didn't pay attention and got caught out of position you should die ya know. So reverting the time it takes to interact with the tv's and reworking the iri tape to make her power work like it used to (if you don't know survivors used to lose their tape when you hit them with an m1). Also she should be 4.8 because she currently has zero chase presence..

4.8 is nuts, no killer has that kind of base speed, and there's a good reason for that. And yh i remember how sadako used to work. She was way to weak and basically never got to use condemned. Tbh ifk why they changed her m1 removing the tape and adding condemned. But I really dislike going aginst her on her current state. There is a happy medium somewhere. Realistically she needs some kind of anti loop.

  • Pretty sure it would kill public queue times. I've never seen a game that adds progression in customs because then what is the point of playing public queue?

  • @Lorelei_Albrecht_TTV said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4072597#Comment_4072597

Honestly I'm most bothered by how it hampers the new player experience and also how it gives bhvr incorrect data which leads to them assuming killers, their addons, or their powers need nerfs, or don't need buffs because their kill rate is still high. Like Sadako needs buffs but, she isn't likely to receive any changes because she has a relatively high kill rate.

I mean the new player experience with dbd is always bad regardless lol. And sadako does not need buffs. Having no cooldown on her traversal at the moment is mental. I seriously doubt that flashlight bully squads getting 4kd is the reason for inflated killer killrates, they are annoying to play alongside but they not exactly common enough to mess with larger statistics

  • @ArkInk said:

  • Yh builds like that never work against a killer with an ounce of skill. Those players just get off on bullying baby killers who don't know the counterplays or have decent reflexes. Everytime i see 3+ flashlights i know I'm in for an easy game because countering bully squads is so easy.

  • @Nehkran said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4072461#Comment_4072461

It sadly absolutely does not prevent people from getting stream sniped, people are most definitely able to stream snipe and they just have to look in the stream to verify if they're in the right lobby. If BHVR came out and demonstrated that the reporting feature actually worked then that'd be great, but at the moment we have very little evidence of that. Even reporting blatant cheaters is hit and miss, I receive feedback report on cheaters 1/5 times? The teleporting, instant healing, instant gen popping kind of cheaters.

Well it does stop stream sniping. Maybe not totally. But the chance of someone ending up in a lobby with a streamer they are actively trying to snipe is very low.

However it totally stops opportunistic stream sniping where a random player sees a ttv in their lobby, looks them up on twitch and uses the stream to gain an advantage.

And whether reporting works or not isn't the issue. You can still do it. You just can't harass the player you think is cheating with messages. Which you shouldn't be doing whether they are or aren't cheating.

  • In my killer experience there are way less bully squads who try to body block nowadays. It's usually more along the lines of flashlight/bang teams. Can't say I'm hugely fussed about forced penance in that situation anyway. I'd rather go with forced hesitation. Get a few easier hits.

  • If it stops people getting stream sniped and receiving abusive messages then it should absolutely stay in the game. You do get some players on anonymous mode who will play very toxicly but they are still reportable. You just can't send them salty messages, which you shouldn't do anyway, it feeds the trolls.

Like the doors can stay how they are just add key hole and animation of survivors inserting the key into it and it would cause the door to break. Its entity's realm so she can decide that it would work. :P

    Sounds like it would work

Seeing the door crumble to the key's touch is cool

  • @cogsturning said:

What are you even referencing? Survivor mistakes are punished way more severely than killers. I can't tell you how many killer matches I've had where I've played terribly–pretty much the whole match being a big mistake—and survivors make a wrong choice and I've suddenly won. The speed at which a killer can flip an L into a W is outstanding, whereas it's almost impossible as survivor. If the killer starts out with high momentum it's rare for them to lose.

Amen to that. Lost count of the number of bully squads I played against in my early killer career who turned a 1k loss for me into a 3 or 4k game because they botched an unhook attempt or just kept trading.

  • @Wezqu said:

Well i would make sense to have some breakable door perks too. Your suggestion might work too. Still I have always been saying that keys should be able to open breakable doors but should take like two charges. Still this perk might be totally useless in certain maps as there is not that many breakable doors in some if any.

Interesting idea, idk if keys would work, maybe if they remodeled the doors to have some kind of lock and look like an actual door rather than a barricade.

And it's always the gamble bringing certain perks/items to trial, healing perks can be rendered ineffective by killers like ghould plague and legion. Flashlights can be a detriment if killer has light born. Any items in general turn into a danger against franklins+weave attunement. Deliverance does nothing at all if you get hooked first. Having a perk that works around breakble doors would achieve something on most maps.

  • Oh windows is 100% my crutch perk. I'm not particularly good at running chase so it at least lets me keep a chase going for more than 20 secs by knowing where the nearest pallet or window is. Idk why they added breakable doors to windows aura reveal though

  • @Wezqu said:

Its nothing new as the maps are not made to be totally best for them but meant to reflect their view of the world. Like most killers their released map is not good for them. Huntress = Mother's Dwelling, Nightmare = Badham Preschool I, Pig = The Game, Plague = Temple of Purgation, Demogorgon = Underground Complex, Executioner = Midwich Elementary School, Nemesis = Raccoon City Police Department, Artist = Eyrie of Crows, Dredge = Garden of Joy and Xenomorph = Nostromo Wreckage.

Not sure i agree with that. Hawkins lab is a pretty decent map for demo, easy to hide portals out of los of gens to ambush people and nothing makes hitting shreds easier than corridors and choke point doorways, nemi works quite well on rpd, love when a zombie blocks a choke point for survs, the tight quarters make it easier to hit tentacle whips too. Tbh the only one of those that looks genuinely bad for it's killer is pig on meat plant. Hard to stealth play on that map and pallets for days against what is essentially an M1 killer.

I do definitely agree that tricksters map is bad for him though. So many indoor spaces and ways to break LoS to stop knives.
