Clearly you never play soloq as survivor. Mistakes galore. Today I've had one escape in maybe 10 games. Rest haven't even got gens finished legitimately

Long as i can keep one each on my characters as a souvenir I'm all for this lol

The new Self-Preservation is basically harder counter to them as anytime someone gets hooked you get 30 second of Elusive that hides your aura, scratch marks, pools of blood and silences grunts of pain. Still have to remember that if killer hits the Elusive gets removed.
It hard counters some. A lot of aura reads will be triggered outside that window, nowhere to hide, I'm all ears etc.
The main thing I liked about distortion was the information it gave. If killer ran multiple aura read perks you would still run out of tokens even with old distortion but to know what aura read perks were in use made a hug difference and allowed you to counterplay. Since survivors have no way of knowing when they were being aura read outside of those perks other than guess work.
It's just yet another aspect of dbd that makes low tier survivor remarkably unpleasant to play while providing limited advantage against high mmr swfs. High level surv players are so effective in chase that they rarely play stealthy and can just run to the nearest loop without worrying about hiding. Whereas new survivor players will hide on instinct which means aura reads will see them killed again and again often without knowing how they were seen until after the game.
-
Yeah I don't think vc would help dbd. Quite the opposite. The community tends to be, I guess the most charitable way to put it is, lets say "short tempered"
I dread to think what ppl would come out with in open vc. Heck one of my team mates spends most of their time in swf games cussing our randoms teammates out when they do stuff they don't approve of lol. If they were in vc they'd get comms banned reet quick.
Then there's the issue of people even using it. I've played games where vc and voip is practically necessary and ppl still go silent. DayZ is a good example, most people will straight up shoot you if you don't talk in gamechat on that game and so many ppl still play silent.

Run Self Preservation, counters most aura reading perks and comes in real handy when a survivor is hooked.
It counters mainly BBQ and Friends Till The End real good. Add Distortion if you want all aura reading to be countered.
I do miss old distortion. It still has it's uses but it's so slow to regain tokens now (if you aren't great at chase)
Especially with the up tic in aura read perks recently it would be nice to see a harder counter to aura reads.

Sables do have a certain reputation. I personally wouldn't dodge a lobby with a sable though
-
I mean if there's only one gen left, i kinda get it. That's killer securing a kill. And as soon as last gen pops you are going to get facecamped and either die or someone else will die for you. It does suck when that happens after you've contributed a lot to a match. But killer will also be more prone to facecamping/tunneling if they haven't seen you all match because they think you're just hiding constantly.
-
Ngl that doesn't sound great to me. The disguising mechanic just means free pickups on gens which is broken af. It would either need a huge cooldown or legion should uncloak when within a certain distance of a survivor.
Even without the mechanical implications it really doesn't fit legion's vibe. They weren’t anything for diguises, just a bunch of teenage delinquents who wore masks and did crimes.
I would like to see a shapeshifting killer who can disguise as survivors but it would need to be carefully implemented. Definitely doesn't fit legions basekit or vibes
-
The game already kind of does that. When you use the buy level function on the bloodweb it shows you have many bloodpoints its takes to reach the next prestige. And the number doesn't really change. It's usually about a million points per prestige.

So I've been saying since the ghoul came out that there is counterplay and if you think there is a lack of it then it is a skill issue. And I stand by this despite them letting survivors phase through your collision mesh and also everyone saying there is no counterplay. I've been playing this game since it came out, I've played a large amount of nurse and I'm here to have you consider something. Play a match against a ghoul, then play a match against a good nurse. You will notice a stark contrast in that you can actually avoid the ghoul's abilities and have counterplay. Whereas against the nurse, if she knows what she's doing, you will literally have no say in anything. Your chases will last a little more than two blink fatigues, and you can buy an extra 5 seconds if you use one of the built in or a million endurance perks (because two health states isn't enough already)
For every situation there is counterplay against the ghoul, for nurse the only counterplay is to pray. So as I said before, if you think there's no ghoul counterplay its a skill issue.
Might help if you described the actual counterplay instead of just saying "skill issue" and "at least it's not nurse"

But, in all honesty, you might be better off running Undetectable perks instead, since this combo is really gimmicky, and not really reliant.
^ this, i always thought goldcreek whiskey and iridescent coin would be a fun combo to catch people off guard. But coin doesn't really work unless you run an addon to increase breakout time when speared. So I have to run undetectable to be able to getbuse out of coin more than once.

I have never said this to a killer main before, but good on you.
Lol I wouldn't call myself a killer main. I split equally which is why I play like that, I know exactly how unpleasant bad survivor sessions can be. But thanks, I try to be the change I want to see. If killers made a tiny bit of effort to make the game less unpleasant for survivors the gsme would have auch better feel.
sweating for the 4k always puzzles me. Unless you're going for an adept there is very little point to it. Like sure ranking up is a thing, but all you get for it is a few bloodpoints. If you actively allow a survivor to get hatch then it doesn't mean you haven't beaten them, they are well aware you're better than them, you've just made an active decision to spare them and you can be sure that being given hatch means more to them both in bloodpoints and in mood than the killer gains for that last kill. Honestly it annoyed me when bhvr incentivised killers against giving hatch by adding the basekit mori.

I agree, absolutely better choices for "relaxing" but what I meant was I was hoping to just play rather casually & farm some blood points up, teams will be good, teams will be bad. Killers might sweat, some might not. Normally I'm fine with however the match goes so long as it felt worth loading into y'know. These games tonight were just back to back - LOAD IN, GET CHASED, DOWNED, PICKED, TUNNEL, REPEAT TILL DEAD. It's an awful scenario every time, again maybe not all but most players paid to play this game & playing hook struggle simulator is not what I paid to do. This game can be a chill farming session sometimes, but clearly not tonight.
Know that feel. My games were similar. Killer players have a lot of control over the game for survivor teams unless it's a super sweat squad.
When I play killer, unless survivors are being toxic (in which case I will do my level best to absolutely rinse them) I tend to ease off once I'm obviously going to win. Especially if that happens very early in the game. I'll usually let at least a couple go in most games and almost always give hatch to the last player. Honestly 4ks are so easy I'm honestly bored with them and very rarely bother playing for the 4k now. Makes it more pleasant for my opponents, shame more killers don't show that mentality. Would make mid/low tier survivor a more tolerable role.
-
Dbd is a really bad choice if you want to relax. It's a pretty high stress game. I usualy go with palia, wandering village or jurassic world evolution 3 if i want to wind down.
Obvs the game is fun but a lot of it is dependant on the people you play with/against. Especially as survivor. My survivor games today were remarkably bad. Killers were particularly toxic and sweaty today. Experienced a lot of tunneling, BMing and a weirdly high number of rando team mates who were either straight up useless or simply DCd less than 3 minutes in. Plus 2 killers who seemed friendly and up for farming them just killed everyone once they'd maxed their points.
-
Should've seen old doctor. That was so much worse
But yh if current ui is causing seizures it should be reverted
-
You know if coulraphobia works because you get a noise notification when someone misses a skill check. I've tried running similar builds before and it's only really triggered once or twice in a match. You could be getting value from discouraging heals but it's hard to tell.
Your build is very one trick, I'd throw some regression and aura read in there. Haemorrhage would also benefit as any aborted heal will lose progress. Scourge hook weeping wounds and scourge hook pain ressonance would be a good combo. Each scourge hook gives you regression And the opportunity to rotate back to hook to stop and nullify any on hook heals anyone tries to do.
-
I tend to split my roles equally. Generally depends if I have friends on. When my friends are on I'll play surv with them and if I'm solo I'll usually do killer. Mainly because playing soloq is just a consistently punishing and unpleasant experience.
As a rule I play about one half pvp games. Currently dbd and pubg. Not sure what pvm means but I'm assuming it's similar to pve. The third game I play is palia, which provides much needed relief and wholesomeness after playing such stressful pvp games. I also play single player vr games too but much less frequently.
-
As a console player it would be nice to play the ptb. Plus would appreciate a chance to avoid getting clapped by PC players who've had chance to practice with and against new killers.
-
Ooh dead space is a good shout. Isaac would make for such a cool survivor. It would he interesting to see what they would do for a killer, bulk standard necromorph or one of the named characters. The ishimura would make for a very cool claustrophobic map
-
Yeah I'm hoping for portal buffs too. His shred is very balanced and doesn't need messing with imo. It's avoidable but still effective and great for quickly clearing out pallets and putting pressure on in chase.
Portals feel a little ineffective sometimes, they take ages to set up and are very easily removed. So buffs there would be nice, increase entry and/or exit speed, increase creation speed, allow demo to remove portals as the game progresses.
I find that the killer instinct you are supposed to get on survs while charging shred never seems to trigger for me. maybe increase the detection range or get some kind of sound notification when survs start to cleanse portals would add an interesting tactical layer to demo for both sides. As demo you make the decision to maybe drop a chase and defend portals, and as survs you can manipulate demo into abandoning chase or other stuff, or use chases as a way to get rid of portals.
One wild idea is that if demo portals to you while you're removing a portals an animation happens and the surv gets injured (or deep wounded if already injured, downed seems unfair) after this happens surv gets the speed boost and demo has a recovery time before it can start chasing again.
Add on rework would also be nice, iridescents are fine as is. they got nerfed a while ago and they really needed it. But there are a lot of demo's add ons that are straigjt up pointless so it might be nice to see some more interesting ones. Maybe have ones that mess with shred a bit, allow shred hits to inflict hemorrhage/mangled, deep wounds, or other status effects.
As a demo main I'm looking forward to a little buff for my boi.
-
Ooh my boi is getting tweaks. Looking forward to seeing what happenes with my demo boi

It's a minor issue but I get it. It's super annoying to me too.

Nostromo I don't hate but I definitely don't want to get it constantly and can't really describe why. I do feel like I've seen both of them a lot over the past day or two.
Yesh i quite like badham too. It's got a very different feel to other maps, very distinct, and I find it pretty balanced.
Nostromo on the other hand is absolute dogwater. I hate that map design.

I'm ambivalent about legion being removed from 2v8. Maybe because I don't have enough info to go on. I only played the last 2v8 evemt (had a couple years break from dbd after chucky released) so i haven't seen legion in 2v8.
But if you asked me which killer I think would horribly unbalance 2v8, legion would be the first one that comes to mind. Superspeed, and getting killer instinct on every survivor in range during feral frenzy means they could keep practically every survivor injured and under pressure. Combo that with a hard to avoid killer with traversal like nurse, blight, dracula, chucky maybe even wraith etc and the game mode starts to look incredibly unfun for survivors. Makes for easy quick downs with huntress, one drops with stealth ghostie.
But on the other hand 2v8 can feel very survivor sided sometimes if killers can't secure quick downs. If you have maybe 4 or 5 good chase runners and everyone is genrushing when they're outside of chase then itt is a real struggle as killer. maybe something like legion is called for to redress the balance.

they got abused by some swf's, they just kept spamming 1 or 2 maps they were really good at, or knew some spots on those maps where the killers could not hook survivors if they had boil over ect. so when they got in a chase they just ran there.
Yeah I'm aware of that. I'm not asking for them to be reinstated to where they were.
They were very unhealthy for the game. I'm saying we might as well remove them entirely. They are just useless, expensive bloodweb clutter at this point. Taking up rare slots that could be used for bloody party streamers.

In before this thread gets locked.
But yh if this is true bhvr should be checking people more carefully before allowing them to be creators
-
As a rule if they do it super early, like too early to tell if the game is won or not I ignore or just slug them. I'm not a fan of people who throw the game before it's really started. If it's late game and I'm clearly going to win I'll just slap em on hook to let them go to the next game.
But yh for me it's more about the vibe, if they're throwing I'll punish them and if it's a forgone conclusion and they just want out I'll oblige them. Or sometimes farm if they are willing and pass the vibe check.

Not really possible unfortunately. There's so many diverse killers with wildly different basekits that making just one map to be balanced for all killers would be a tall ask. Let alone multiple. Unless we wanted to have 12 reskinned versions of the same map. Game is asymmetric by nature so balance is always difficult

Yeah, it's just as you said. I meant more, the killer singles one person out and kills them specifically because they didn't want to farm. Not, sacrificing one or two out and farming with the rest. I certainly could have clarified that better.
Edit: I cleaned up my post. I was yapping.Yeah that's just tunneling effectively. Not reportable
-
Absolutely not. No way we should be allowing players to see the killer pregame. It is going to make lobby dodging much more atrocious and players can then counterbuild every killer they face. This would be an awful change if it gets implemented

Having a high ping is especially advantageous on killer and on survivor side it does not even matter that much. It should be balanced out in the code, because it cannot be the case that having bad net/ping gives you an huge advantage.
How exactly is the code supposed to balance out the ping? You can't adjust a game to cope with bad ping.

I think the casuals are the ones who will be more drawn to play the mode if it was a premanent mode. People who prefer 1v4 making it premenant isnt for them.
The novelty wore off for me personally after the first time (came back only to check out flashlight update) but casuals are in love with the mode and prefer it over 1v4. i also think the novelty going away would also make people who only play for the novelty of playing duo killer will also stop playing as much, where as now they all swam the gamemode as its limited.
Its also easier to bring new players into the game as nothing has too be paid for unlike if you wanna use certain perks.
Side not but if not a permanent mode they should at least add to customs
Customs would definitely be fun. And the game could definitely do with a casual playlist, should turn standard into a proper ranked playlist with rewards better than simple blood point bonuses once a month. Maybe a dedicated casual playlist that rotates between 2v8, chaos shuffle and seasonal stuff, with the odd smattering of 1v4.

I think it does need to become permanent but would agree the queue times is what is holding it back from becoming so.
Hope the system can be tested. eg. only allowing to que in 2v8 if you are doing play as you wait or playing in the game mode you queing for (ie people waiting for 1v4 only get into 1v4 survivor matches) to test what works best.
So many casuals love the mode. I think 2v8 is the closest this game is going to ever get to a ranked vs casual game mode.Idk if it needs to be permanent, it is a fun game mode and I do enjoy it. But if it was live all the time interest would naturally wane, and queue times would increase for 2v8, particularly for killers.
Having it as a time limited event makes it a novelty so people play it more. When 2v8 is up i pretty much play it exclusively when i have friends online. I'd play it a lot less if it was a permanent playlist.

Farming normally is fine. It's only not okay if you're forcing someone to farm. There are a few posts of the mods saying as such so you're perfectly fine!
If someone is trying to do gens and wants nothing to do with it, and then you single them out by slugging, or killing them while not doing that to the others, that's reportable.
If I plan to farm during an event, I tend to play a match out normally, 2-hooking everyone and then I mess around. I find this has the best reception as the survivors get a normal-ish game and everyone gets plenty of bloodpoints.
Edit: The only thing I'm not sure on is if a single player didn't want to farm, and you 2-hooked them, and then let them do whatever after. I've had that happen to a survivor teammate a couple times.
I don’t think you have that right. If killer allows some survs to farm and kills others that isn't breaking the rules. It is effectively tunneling which is not reportable. The only time anyone is breaking the rules in this situation is if the farming survivors actively help killer find the one who won't engage with the farming because that's workimg with the opposite team.
The latter example, forcing someone to stay in the game when they don't want to farm and refusing to kill them, that IS breaking the rules because you're refusing to engage in normal gamrplay AND are actively preventing them from being able to progress to next match. You're technically sandbagging, especially if you prevent them finishing gens.
Tagging dude who asked the question too just to prevent misinformation

Ah, I appreciate the clarification! .I would never force someone to farm, but thankfully I’ve never come across someone who didn’t want to. Thank you for clearing that up!
-
It would be interesting. Being able to play1v4 while queuing killer in the background for 2v8 might solve the queue time issue. Not a guarantee obviously, as it stands the queue times during 2v8 events would kill the game if it were made permanent.
But IF the times are reasonable with 1v4 and background queuing it would be nice to have a more casual permanent playlist. Personally i think we'd do better with a casual playlist and a separate ranked playlist with prizes.
I can see people not queueing survivor as much in 2v8 though if 1v4 queuing is available. Even a little bit of that would make killer queue times in 2v8 absolute insane.

Unbreakable is a one time use, Conviction is only active once every time you heal another survivor, and Exponential is easily snuffed out. All of these perks are easily exhausted. Do you really want survivors to permanently have these perks in their build as well? That's generally not a good idea for the sake of build diversity.
Killers, on the other hand, still have agency once the generators are powered. They can still get a kill or get points by whatever means. They aren't stuck helpless in place for 4 minutes. Because they too have perks that help them in scenarios, believe it or not. Bring perks like Remember Me, or No Way Out, or NoED if you're feeling adventurous.Don't forget bloodwarden. When I play surv I live in fear of that perk if we haven't identified all 4 perks lol

I think adding a door being open too the gens being done would make it a better option. That way if survivors want to goof off in exit and waste time the killer can move on. Same as I do on survivor when a killer slugs. It takes nothing from the game except the ability for toxic behavior just like the go next when plugged does. I think it is a matter of time before this is implemented since BHVR usually balances things sooner or later
^this
OPs suggestion is not great because the game can really swing during the endgame, and if killer could legitimately abandon then it ends the game instantly.
But once gates are open survs are generally free and clear unless you have someone injured in chase far from gate, or you're playing a very particular killer who can block gates like wesker. It would be nice to prevent survs waiting to bm. Personally though I just go around the map bashing doors and downed pallets for extra bp in that situation. Instead of going to see of survs who will probably bm.
-
It is frustrating when killers do that. DC penalties should be harsh across the board imo. Always winds me up when someone DCs early game survivor or killer.
Idk why they dont have killer bots instead of just instantly ending the game. An early dc by a killer does deny a lot of game play. Recently had a skull merchant dc in the first few mins of a match because i pulled a clean pallet save against her. And on the other side I've seen a few survs instantly dc when they realise I've been running lightborn as killer which is frankly pathetic.
I get that some people accidentally DC legitimately because of bad connection but the vast majority are obviously ragequits because someone went down early. It's really something BHVR need to crack down on. Really ruins the game.
-
Yeah I've always been of the opinion that nobody should be able to see anything in the pregame.
In all honesty as killer I will sometimes pop lightborn on if i see 3+ flashlights. It can be satisfying to clap bully squads who run those builds. Especially when I play demo and can mindgame them into thinking I'm trying to avoid flashlights.
But I would happily give that up to remove any info in the pregame lobby for anyone to stop dodging. Im convinced a lot of survivors dodge because they check profiles of other survivors and see they are on low hours.

I recommend SP too. I've been using it since the rework and it's been stellar. Not just blocking aura read without hopping off your gen endlessly, but also making you free to pre run or go towards the hook to unhook without scratch marks, blood pools, or pain noises. It gives you a lot of liberty of movement throughout the match.
I'll have to give it a try. Who's perk is it? Pretty sure i don't have it unlocked yet. Need to keep an eye on the shrime for it. Or maybe just buy the character if they're worth it

Could it be that killers are extremely aggressive during this Bloodmoon? Most of the time, I don’t mind tunneling since I do it myself, but it really feels worse than usual this time. Also, every second match is a Blight who thinks they’re Lilith Omen and plays like there’s a huge prize pool on the line. If you want to sweat that hard, why not just play normal mode?
And honestly, the camping feels even worse than the tunneling. In a SWF it’s not that big of a problem, but in solo queue it’s awful—people just don’t do gens.
Do survivors even check what their teammates are doing on the side? I feel like I’m the only one paying attention to that :(
Overall, it just feels like it gets worse every year with Bloodmoon and even the anniversary events. And why is everyone so selfish with offerings? It’s always Escape Cake or Pudding—or even worse, that ######### eye.
Edit: Why is everyone using hex builds? I get Ruin and myabe Thrill of the Hunt but so often they use 4 Hexes…Why?
If you're running 2 hexes you might as well run 4. TOTH rework makes hex builds more viable because you can guard them more effectively and the more hexes you combo together the better they are collectively.
My personal fave combo is hex retribution and haunted ground. Aura reading everyone and having everyone exposed makes for some fun plays lol. Unless someone's running distortion and can call the retribution aura read then you'll often get a couple of easy downs when ppl hide in bushes lol

Behaviour Interactive is no different from Activision. They both focus solely on the casuals. They buff or add anything cheesy to make it super easy for the general populus all because of player retention and money.
You can see it in Black Ops 7. Everyone can be a camper and get a Dreadnought killstreak with ease. Anyone can play. They have given you the tools to do so. It's easy mode.
Dead by Daylight is no different. You get another buff to endurance unhook for the noobs. 15 seconds instead of 10 now. Add auras to hex totems. Another buff against 3 gen. Another bunch of perk reworks like fast track and self preservation. More pallets. Almost instantly heal back. Get another bunch of tools to fight against anything. What does the killer get? Trickster and wesker nerfs. Oh and bugfix basekits disguised as nerfs.
Endurance party ftw.
This game is not balanced for casuals. Usually they only rebalance perks when top streamers and comp players complain about them. If they wanted to balance more for casuals then they wouldn't have u turned on the anti slugging/tunneling measures. Casuals have a remarkably bad time because at lower mmr the game is hugely killer sided so 4/5 of the players will lose most of the time and the killers will soon ramp themselves into high mmr and get absolutely stomped by bully squads.

The 20% chance is perfect. I don't want to play in Midwich or Eerye of Crows just because someone wants to. Leave offerings the way they are.
EDIT: The idea of making them "Map ban" offerings is good too. It would help some killers and builds to be less risky.
Sounds like you'd rather they were just removed

I've been enjoying dbd recently after coming back from a long break. Trying my best to spread good vibes as killer by always letting at least 1, usually 2 survivors escape.
