We can only hope camping "fixes" never see the light of day. Not until boons are changed. Dead hard is changed. Not until they understand how bullshit most maps are for killers who arnt nurse.
It's only facecamping that I'm referring to. I have no problem with proxy or simple camping! However, it is pretty annoying when the Killer just tunnels the same Survivor off the hook, but you really can't change weirdo Killer behavior.
And for all of those things, I just remember that the game is balanced around 2k 2escape. Everyone deserves a chance to succeed in one way or another, including the Survivors. And I usually get good points and have a lot of fun, even on Killers that I have little to no perks on against SWF and strong solos.
I wholeheartedly agree that maps need to be adjusted however. Some maps are WAY too big, and I seem to get them all the time when I'm playing Killer... Disturbed Ward and Mother's Dwelling are apparently favored heavily in my map selection. And I would be fine with them removing Haddonfield from the game, haha. I'd actually like to see a lot more maps around the same size as Rancid Abattoir and Coal Tower.

And the Killer who gets no Kills or Hooks? The Killer who think's he will get a down but nope your Snowman stopped it?
The newbie with 5 hours and 4 green perks into a full red rank swf?
The Killer trying to play with mutiple Coh's up?
The Killer who worked hard all game only for your key to let your team out? (pre nerf, a year after Mori's as well)
In all of those cases, the Killer still has full control of their character and can play the video game. In the case of facecamping, the Survivor being facecamped can't do anything. They have zero control of their character and have to just sit and wait until they're back to lobby.
Also, kinda weird to mention things that have nothing to do with the subject. Facecamping is a Killer behavior that is unwarranted--and it only punishes everyone involved. None of the Survivors get any bloodpoints to speak of due to lack of interaction with the Killer, the facecamped Survivor ends the game with <5k points, and the Killer gets next to no points as well. It is 99% of the time a spiteful interaction and serves no purpose except to waste everyones' time.
However, the things you mentioned are not spiteful in any way, shape or form. All of those things are part of normal gameplay and if anything are to be blamed on poor matchmaking and imbalance, rather than player behavior. Facecamping is purely a behavioral problem.

Ahhh great attitude.
One Killer using some meme build to cuck some idiots means camping needs to be "changed"
Stop trying to be a hero and save someone who can't be saved. Let the person in the basement die, do your gens and leave.
If you want camping to stop, stop feeding the camper.
That doesn't change the fact that it still sucks for the person getting facecamped... they're a player in the video game too, you know. Think about it from their perspective.
I've been the person facecamped by the Bubba, facecamped in the basement, and everything under the facecamping sun. Many times. It sucks and is extremely boring, and it's not even fun or viable for the Killer... you end up with such abysmal points that it is 99% of the time used purely for spite and to make someone's experience miserable. At least the devs already confirmed that they're working on a solution for facecamping--I hope they find one that works soon(™).
-
Kudos for continuing the anti-Bubba crusade. He must be brought to justice.
-
Exactly. I used to play Killers that I could 4k with when I was a big tryhard last year, and focused on maintaining rank 1 Killer every month. Played lots of Nurse and pre-nerf Pyramid Head at that time, and it was pretty sweaty. Needless to say, I really didn't enjoy my games that much and was extremely worried about losing and possibly making a fool of myself. It's a very bad place to be and I finally ended up uninstalling and leaving the game for nearly 10 months.
Since I've come back to the game, and especially after grades were implemented and you could no longer de(grade?), I've really been enjoying my Killer games. I no longer focus on 4k or pipping, and I've been having a lot of fun playing Killers like Oni, Billy, Trapper and Ghostface. I actually have far less stress on my Killer games than I do Survivor! And with all of this, I've actually been having a blast, improving at the game and getting oodles of points in the process. I don't sweat, and I don't camp or tunnel (which I didn't even do back during my tryhard months--it was still sweaty however). I even look forward to going up against SWF and more experienced Survivors (which I encounter often), since it gives me opportunities to challenge myself and improve against strong players. And I actually do well in those games, even with the Killers I mentioned above (on which I have few perks and next-to-no meta perks unlocked!).
Now, my Survivor experience, on the other hand... it sucks. The tunnelling and camping has gotten out of control, and, honestly, it only used to be this bad when there wasn't an Obsession every game (regardless of if there were perks to force the status) and no one brought Obsession perks. The only time I have fun is with Survivors who actually know what they're doing to some degree--and when that happens, the Killer usually disconnects mid game. The low mental of DbD players is astounding to me.
-
I actually love playing Billy. I play him without addons and use the chainsaw all the time, even when I'm not doing particularly well.
I just find mobile Killers like Oni and Billy more fun to play in general, as you can have fun playing them without having direct interaction with Survivors. Oni especially is a blast! And with Billy, I strive to be a curve god someday. The overheat really isn't even that bad--then again, I only played him a handful of times before his rework, so I have hardly any previous attachment to that version of him. I just love him as he is now.

I guess! It definitely looks good, that's for sure. One of my favorite maps!

The killer meta has made killers lazy. No need to be satisfied with a 2K, play in a sloppy manner and still get a 4K.
It's basically true... I got tunnelled an entire game, got caught right at the end and my teammate died on their first hook trying to save me while the Killer camped. They got a 2k and 21k points with very little effort... pretty crazy.
Meanwhile, I died with 9k points (from getting chased the entire game). The most points earned on the team was 12k, since the Killer didn't interact with anyone but me the entire game.

Could also come with a future tome story for Artist or Jonah.
or they might even add more maps to the Forsaken Boneyard like they did for Asylum and Red Forest realms… though it’s probably not really canon that the temple from Plagues lore actually has something to do with the Forest that Huntress lived in..
I think that if you read the map description for Plague map, the Entity kinda just plopped Plague's temple into the Red Forest... smart way to get out of styling an entirely new realm, I guess!

Yes! Standing within 4 meters of a Survivor who is working on a generator will give them a 15% repair speed bonus, even without you working on the generator. I've noticed it in my own games, with the bar turning golden when a Prove Thyself-er is standing nearby.

Yes please. I hate having to wait to type gg in end chat or see random players pop off, and the window seems to linger forever

I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing it activate on downs from all attacks versus just basic ones. There must be a reason it wasn’t set up that way, though, which makes me wonder what the downside was that they went with basic attacks only?
I really don't know. It came with Puppy, which makes me wonder... what would have been so bad about him popping Jolt off of a Shred? I don't see how that would be busted, to be honest.
@jesterkind said:
I would definitely support this change. Now that it's a generic perk especially, I'm of the opinion that the majority of the roster should be able to use it at least somewhat well.
Though it would raise the question- if Huntress downs someone who's half the map away, does the radius that Jolt activates from start with her, or with the downed survivor?
I think it would activate off of the Survivor's position, rather than the Killer's. At least, that's what I think Blood Favor and Third Seal do! I think it would work best that way.
-
It's a one time use dodge against two powers that have infinite uses... if anything it only buys a few seconds in Nurse's case, and in Blight's case, he's still a 4.6m/s and non-reliant on his power...
I've played both Killers plenty (former rank 1 Nurse main) and I've never had this thought. It's really not that bad.
-
Survivors are already so loud... I never have trouble hearing them with or without Iron Will. Footsteps, breathing, all that!
-
I know the feeling... as soon as I take off Decisive Strike, I seem to have a target painted on my back and I get yeeted out promptly with <5k points. And when I don't use Pop Goes The Weasel, the gens seemingly take off into orbit.
I would love to see a few things implemented to take a little pressure off of the need to use meta perks. Base 5% regression on gen kicks would help tremendously, as well as map sizes in general being balanced. Some maps are far too large, with maps like Mother's Dwelling, Ironworks of Misery and Disturbed Ward being nearly impossible to patrol effectively. And for Survivors... I'm not sure. I would at least like for DS to not permanently deactivate if you miss it the first time, so you can use it on your second hook as well.
On a side note (and I know I'll be attacked for this), the sad thing about Killer actions like tunnelling, camping and slugging is that they are mostly just things that people feel that they need to do to succeed, when that's not really the case. Not to mention those things are what content creators push all the time. I used to play all the time at rank 1 without doing any of those things (and even without BBQ and Pop, I just unlocked those things recently) and I was successful in nearly all of my games. I still do so against plenty of SWF!
At least the game is a lot more balanced than it used to be, but I still would like to see many maps shrunk down a little bit and some love for Solo Survivors.

You really cant' complain if you get tunneled out of a game if you are bming.
You can't be a toxic survivor and expect the killer to want to play nice.
I completely understand tunnelling if you're bming the Killer all game. However, I get tunnelled in most of my games and I rarely (if ever) crouch at the Killer (and I never click a beamer). You don't have to be rude to the Killer for them to get a stick up their rear and target you because of your cosmetics, character you're playing, Steam profile or anything else under the sun.
@cantelope said:

Tunneling is a dev approved strategy and face camping is rarely what people are talking about when they say camping is a strategy tho. Camping that isn't hard face camping is also a dev approved strategy.
Please check the post I replied to. They specifically mentioned facecamping, not simple or proxy camping.
-
@JoByDaylight said:
Survivors: "Accept that tbagging og clicking is a thing in the game. You need to work on how you react."
Killers: "Accept that tunneling and facecamping are legit strategies. You need to work on how you react."
I mean, there's still a big difference between those two complaints. Tunnelling and facecamping end the game early for one or multiple Survivors, and are actually torturous to deal with in a pure gameplay sense--those two behaviors actually affect the video game mechanically. Even the developers have stated that they are trying to find a solution for facecamping, which confirms that it is a behavior that actually affects the video game negatively and needs correcting.
However, crouching and clicking have no actual effect on gameplay. There would be no difference mechanically between a Survivor standing in the exit gate doing absolutely nothing and one standing in the gate crouching repeatedly. It's purely emotional. The developers aren't going to do anything about crouching and non-macro flashlight clicking because they literally do not affect the game itself in any way, shape or form.
Not to mention, like I said previously, teabagging your opponents has existed since the dawn of multiplayer gaming, and people understand that in every other video game... except here. It's pretty crazy.

Okay but you and nobody else has any right to tell people what they should or shouldn't be doing inside of the game. Some people tbag to get the killers attention and take the chase while their team does gens, some people do it to tilt the killer and throw them off their game and then some people do it at the exit gates which everyone says is pointless and stupid so why give such a pointless act any thought? Chase em out and move on. Then you get people who get annoyed because oh they're try harding and they're body blocking and this stuff annoys me. Okay? And? If they wanna play in a tryhard way and fight as hard as they can to get everyone out that's their prerogative. If you don't like that and don't wanna play that way I don't know what to tell you. Like I said if it's something that's in the game by default and you don't like it it's on you.
Exactly... it's not like crouching up and down is a bannable offense. I mean, I hate it more than anything when Killers hit me on the hook, nod or shake their head repeatedly and stand over my body for four minutes until I die on the ground... but none of those things are actually bannable.
Teabagging has existed in multiplayer games since their beginnings, and people in other games (usually) don't lose their minds over it--I think the issue here is that people take it so personally. It seems like many Killers feel like they "deserve" to succeed at what they are doing, so when Survivors instead succeed against them and then flaunt their victory they don't handle it well (at all).
I personally don't give the Killer crouches unless the Killer has been doing an actual negative action in the video game, such as hard tunnelling at 5 gens or facecamping teammates. And even then, I still don't do it every time (even though most of my games involve either hard tunnelling or facecamping). But I still have the right to do so if I want to... it's not "toxic", it's just bad manners. Same as the Killer hitting Survivors on the hook or shaking their head repeatedly. It's just BM. "Toxicity" is being abusive in endgame chat or sending hateful messages to players/commenting negativity on their Steam profiles, not pressing CTRL repeatedly in a video game.
That doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see people being a little more civil in the game, because (like I said already) I do hate being hit repeatedly on the hook or having my time wasted by being left on the ground for four minutes. However, Survivors will continue to crouch spam and Killers will continue to harrass Survivors on the hook because people react to it, and that's just how multiplayer competitive games work.

You did the right thing by leaving the endgame chat as soon as it appeared. A lot of players on both sides won't hesitate to run their mouths (and fingers) in the endgame chat, so there's really no reason to stay for their tantrums.
Best thing to do is never take what these people say or do personally (because they honestly don't know you at all, you're just another faceless Killer to them and they feel free to abuse) and just move on to the next game! After all, the game is played for fun, so there's no need to subject yourself to these people. Just play, enjoy your games and let these people be miserable on their own.
-
I think that Blight is the most balanced powerful Killer in the game. He has excellent mobility, but that mobility doesn't enable him to ignore windows and pallets (unlike Nurse). He takes learning to be good with him as well, but even the best Blight players can't just cheese in chases. I honestly have oodles of fun playing against him and I just started playing him and am having oodles of fun playing him as well!
The only thing that needs to get toned down is his Alchemist Ring addon. There needs to be some kind of downside to it, since it is a very powerful addon for him to use and pushes him toward being more unfairly oppressive in chases. His successive rush speed addons can be a little bonkers as well.
-
If you're struggling with flashlight blinds during the pickup, try faking a pick up on a Survivor if you think people are around. Stand over the Survivor for a moment and look down. Many times it'll trick the nearby flashlight Survivor into thinking you're picking up the downed one, and they'll run out for a blind... then you can get a hit on them!
Also, always try to look at a wall or obstacle (where a Survivor can't get in front of you to shine their flashlight) before you pick up a Survivor. If you don't have anything around to block your vision during the pickup, try turning away from where you think flashlight users are right before you pick up the downed Survivor. This foils flashlight saves at least 9 times out of 10 for me!
And if all else fails, just use Lightborn! Never have to worry about flashlight saves again! 🙂

I would say Legion, but he's so boring to play and boring to play against that I would like to see his power reworked first.

I really have never experienced as toxic of a community as Dead by Daylight's. Besides the toxicity, there are many other things I dislike as well, such as how easily players are brainwashed by content creators. League's and CS:GO's communities really don't hold a candle to DbD's (choice word) playerbase.

Occasionally have someone run at me with BT and body block, but just hit them and now they have to mend too. But this is usually my experience as well. I never have to worry about either of them myself. I do often feel like I need to run them when playing survivor though. Too many lazy killers with no real skill sitting on hooks.
Yep. I'm feeling myself return to the old days of running DS and BT every game just so I have a chance when I'm inevitably tunnelled for doing one thing on the list of 10000 no-nos on the Killer Rule Book. Even then, I or a teammate usually get tunnelled through DS and BT at least once a game. Just last night I played against a full-bloodied Wraith who tunnelled and camped each Survivor out of the game in succession, even after they themselves used a 4th anniversary cake... but that's not abnormal, sadly.

So are DS and BT. Perks that are useless unless the killer plays scummy.
Exactly. I never get hit by DS or BT as Killer because I don't go for the unhooked Survivor... imagine that...
And honestly, I think it's better for pressure to go after the unhooker in the first place. Now the unhooked Survivor has to either heal themself or find someone, and with you chasing the unhooker, you have minimum two Survivors not doing the objective (three if the unhooked has someone heal them) and don't have to worry about DS or BT.
-
I'll use any perk except for NOED. I like switching my perks often on Survivor when I'm not going for specific rift challenges, and I just use anything I want as Killer since rift challenges aren't difficult or super particular for the role.
-
I just hope they're not another anti-loop ranged Killer... not complaining about them per-se, just wishing we got something more mechanically unique instead of encouraging boring Shift+W gameplay. (I'm really hating playing against Artist for that reason...)
At this point, I just wish they would completely rework Twins for their next "chapter". Twins honestly feels like they just needed a Killer to go along with Elodie. It kind of shows with how little content they receive and how few people play them in general. Truly the Forgotten Killer.
-
Funny enough, Legion players usually ragequit in my games as Survivor, or go AFK. It's usually just people not "having fun" on either side--however, that's still not an excuse to D/C.
-
I think a good change would be to make it 100% self-heal speed for the booner, and 50% self-heal speed for all others.

Items are important, some survivors base their whole build around the item they are bringing. Why run Streetwise, Built to Last, or any other item enhancing perk when Franklin’s just gives a big middle finger to all of it for one measly basic attack? The reward for the input is out of whack. Plus, you mention Hag. As if most don’t play scummy enough, many run Franklin’s and just spin the scroll wheel when you go back for it.
To me, there’s just a certain stigma that is typically true for killers that run Franklin’s. I’ll be out of that match as fast as I can (being cautious how I say this, as I don’t want to break forum rules).
You know, since you're the only person here not having a kneejerk reaction to my suggestion, I'll say this: I never use Franklin's and I play plenty of Killer (more Killer these days than Survivor, surprisingly. Solo queue sucks). I used the addon for Bubba one time for fun, since I saw they had a medkit and I thought it would be fun to try out the addon. They ended up equipping three other items!
My point is that Franklin's is not a necessary perk for normal gameplay, just like items are not necessary for normal gameplay. Survivors use items left and right in my Killer games and it really doesn't matter to me, and I have good, fair games despite the items. I actually just played this game last night against coordinated Survivors on Ormond (one of them found a toolbox and was constantly trying sabotage plays) and had a great game. It was very fun and honestly, their items affected my gameplay very little (the one with the beamer tried beamer saves a few times but I always look at a wall or fake when I pick up a Survivor... imagine that).
Sadly, I did expect people to have a fit about a proposed change to a Killer perk, despite me ONLY thinking of the Killer when the idea popped into my head. Franklin's activating on any form of damage (like Pyramid Head's M2) actually seemed a bit busted to me, but I thought that removing item depletion would be a good tradeoff. It would be more fair for Survivors instead of just yeeting their item out of the game. For instance, Survivors can't take away Killers' addons, right? Even though they're not necessary to have good games. And Survivors and Killers both lose their addons after every game. Yet Killers can just remove a Survivor's item from play with a simple M1. These are all things I thought of AFTER making this post, and they strengthened my point even more for me.
I would love to see this change implemented, and it would actually make me want to use Franklin's more than I currently do (which is never. I don't even have it unlocked on most of my Killers, despite being a pre-MMR Rank 1 Killer for many, many months).
-
I do actually support it when it's used in an appropriate manner. I hate it when one Survivor is just stealthing around the map, almost holding the game hostage because they're just waiting for their teammate to die and the teammate they want to die is actually trying to progress the objective, but keeps getting interrupted by the Killer. I'd much rather assist the Survivor who is actually progressing the game rather than the person who's just trying to get a free hatch escape.
For example, I played a game on Pale Rose versus a Doctor. With Jake and I being the only ones left, Jake decided to hide in and around the shack doing absolutely nothing while he waited for me to die. He kept getting in the locker to avoid the static blast every time the Doctor was nearby. After escaping chases with the Doctor multiple times (for over 9 minutes, all while I'm trying to do the last two generators after doing the third generator... all this by myself), I finally heard him getting in a locker while I was near the shack. Walked inside and he stepped out of the locker and got shocked by my iri queen debuff... so, since he wasn't progressing the game at all and was just waiting for me to die, I kept making noise near him to attract the Doctor. While I was doing this, Jake kept Urban Evading across the back of the map.
Long story short, the Doctor realized that the Jake wasn't doing anything, hooked him (and camped him so I wouldn't unhook) and then gave me the hatch. It was pretty satisfying and I was quite appreciative of the Doctor realizing I was the only one actually trying at the video game (I had around three flashbangs... from working on generators).
-
Did you also notice that her Blighted hair is now a different color? It actually looks great.
-
Let's bring back old Pale Rose while we're at it. Very undeserved downsize for sure
-
The Artist's sounds are just annoying in general... I wish she made more bird and crow sounds rather than trying to copy The Grudge (or some other yokai thing). Not to mention I think that her chase music is pretty awful. I like the 32-24 meters, but past that it goes downhill.
