yeah, you can turn a bad game into a really good game with strong endgame play, I went from 0 hooks to Adept Onryo and 4k but I also did really well with Shape and got 3 hook exchanges, but then got severely punished by the proximity to hook penalty and I'm bringing the thread back to that, after all, my suggestion is to remove that in the endgame but it going towards camping yes or no.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3072558#Comment_3072558

I never bothered reading your response due to my reaction to the first part of your response, how anyway can't see the difference between hard camping during the endgame and hard camping during the match is beyond me, but you being you, even if you're wrong.

Don't care. If you have to camp for a kill, you don't deserve it. Period. Next.

Pretty sure that was done to make the perks available to everyone since you weren't able to buy those characters anymore

Still, they could have made an exception for those 3 characters and kept both behaviours: the perks show up in the bloodwebs like general perks, but if you prestige Nancy you automatically unlock her perks, for example

Now basically the first 3 prestige levels give you nothing for them

... That's literally what I said. They made them universally available so players could still access the perks post-removal.

It just is what it is. The removal was unexpected and they can't plan the entire game's future around one DLC.

  • I just assumed it's been 100% all day because nobody wants to play survivor without Dead Hard. lol

  • That's a really good idea, especially for lobbies with multiple survivors wearing the same cosmetic. It's a subtle yet extremely informative change idea!

  • Agreed. It was an unnecessary change. A small character portrait next to the player name would've sufficed and taken up less space.

I read your first line and rolled my eyes, that zero skill and good sportsmanship are reserved for killers that camp/tunnel when gens still to be done, in the endgame, survivors have had a match and their fun, I get kills as well by playing straight up and even 4k before the endgame. That doesn't mean I'm not wrong about the proximity to hook penalty needed disabled in the endgame, which is what this thread is mainly about.

I can't believe someone is actually arguing over such a simple change, the playing community is the reason why this game is in the shape it is and this mid-chapter release hasn't fixed anything.

Dang it's crazy how I'm not even going to bother reading any responses that condone camping outside of fighting an aggressive squad farming hook.

    Anyway--

  • This would be a great chapter. I feel like his use of the ball would be super similar to Pinhead and his teleporting hooks, however.

Super creepy classic film and would be great to see.

  • They should just give survivors an Unalive Yourself option.

My first match of this update, an Artist slugged my whole team and left them to bleed out. Luckily the match was salvageable, but for the really crappy matches where it's clear it's gonna be 5 minutes of laying on the floor, I'd rather they give us the option to leave the match without penalty and give the killer a crumb of BP for our death. If only to let us move the hell on to another match.

  • They could prevent camping the same way they prevent Pyramid Head from staying too close to survs in his Cages; if the killer stays by the hook too long, teleport the survivor to the hook farthest away from the current location. It's been 100% effective in keeping people trapped in torment cages and forces the killer to do something else.

    They just choose not to.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3072029#Comment_3072029

win the match before the endgame? do you even play the game? do you realize how fast gens can be done before a killer can get 4 hooks never mind 8-12 hooks? new increased gen speed hasn't changed anything before you try and say that.

Most players on both sides actually enjoy the hard camping play in the endgame, it really is not a big deal and why proximity to hook penalty should be disabled in the endgame.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3072036#Comment_3072036

1k is still a loss but I have no issue camping as for me, I can maybe turn that 1k into a 2k for the draw and sometimes been able to turn it into a 3k for a win.

Yes, I play the game, and still manage to secure kills or end the game with good sportsmanship without facecamping. Facecamping is for zero-skill players who can't handle the loss of one hook and either don't have the ability to effectively end the match before the gates are open, or know they are unable to pursue any other remaining survivors. It's a garbage play and camping hook with more than 1 survivor remaining should absolutely be penalized. Period.

TL; DR learn how to control your maps with all these shiny new killer buffs y'all just got or take the L with grace and say your GGs.

  • @EntityNea said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3072159#Comment_3072159

Face camping is not the same as securing a kill.

If you do that against most experienced survivors, they'd force you to hit one of them while another one goes for the rescue, then body block for each other and everyone would escape 🙂

Face camping is 100% bad manners done by people who get salty and don't know how to properly play the game.

If you REALLY want to secure a kill you'd try to injure the other survivors and force them out of the gate.

    This. 100%.

Esp with unhook endurance now, facecamping is just a waste of time and a clown move.

Camping in endgame is 100% justifiable though

You don't need an excuse, it's quite literally all you can do unless you want to give free rescues

It's really not though. DS is no longer applicable. Keep downing survivors, use Blood Warden for the hits, or force them out. Or, and hear me out, win the match before the gates are powered since gen speeds have been slowed down per Killer Main™️ request. It's not that deep.

Imagine wasting your time playing Standing Still Because I Got 1k Simulator when you could be pursuing extra hits. Lmao.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3071897#Comment_3071897

What do you expect the killer to do once the gens are done and especially if the gates are open and they have a survivor on the hook and no one else in sight? Just take a walk and take the L?

You got base kit Borrowed Time now. Dive in get that save from that camper! Who knows you might have fun, Entity forbid.

Killers just got ALLLLLLLL these buffs, survivors can no longer use DS or Off The Record after the gates are powered, and you're worried about a proximity bonus?

Hook someone and push the remaining survivors out the gate. It's simple. There's no excuse for camping unless survivors are griefing or farming a hook. And there's even less excuse now that you don't have to worry about DS.

  • No. Just don't camp. Lmao. Survivors have already had their most useful perks taken away as soon as the gate opens. There's no excuse.

Here is what I had envisioned. Considering their recent rework of the icons from PTB to Live adding that gold in, you'd think adding a red crown or exclusive highlight to the Crests would be easy.

Something like this would've been great!

And like now, what's the point of prestiging to 100? What do we even get?

  • @Lycidas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/335000/bloody-prestige-portrays-are-a-bad-reward-for-p3

    Or, listen to this

Either give the reward visible to other that was promised, or compensate this whole situation sith some bloodpoints.

Like, we didn't get the bragging rights from the reward, and we didn't even get the bonus prestige levels from the catch up mechanic, at least give us some lousy bloodpoints..

Agreed. I was excited for the "bragging rights special icon" they promised, even though they set the expectation that it would not be cosmetics.

  • I like this idea! I miss the Halloween/Blight and RPD backgrounds.

However I think they would require a whole new update for tracking how many times you've done a certain action as a certain character (like a separate rift). It'd be better if perhaps they log how much time you've played as (insert chapter character) instead. Or, maybe include them in DLC going forward.

Like with Fortnite, you can get backgrounds that go with characters you purchase and either set them to Shuffle or choose which one you want to see.

At minimum it would be cool if we could buy them for, say, 1M BP

  • I'm not getting the issue. They were forced to make the ST perks "universal" to prevent new players from being locked out of those perks due to the inability to purchase ST characters anymore.

  • I like the idea, but capping the withdrawal would just feel like another limitation to me personally.

I'd like to see an item bank, though, or shared items between all survivors and shared offerings between all killers.

  • @SkeletalElite said:

This happens when the killer has something causing hemorrhage, because resurgence gives you the heal when you are hooked, and while you are on the hook the hemorrhage status effect regresses the heal to nothing before you even have an opportunity to be unhooked.

expecting multiple chances to jump off hook with a 4% chance, expecting to be able to DS the killer after you are last one downed, expecting to use boil over/flip flop because you crawled to a corner as last down.... repeat infinit....

yes, entitlement is the only reason someone would think this way. You are dead, game is over.

Funny response coming from someone crying about potential BBQ changes but I'll bite.

-the 4% escape attempts are a part of the game. If the other 3 survivors got the attempt, the last person should too. And if the killer IS there and smacks them down? More points for the killer hit, and more points for the last hook.

-If there are 2 people left, one is downed with DS and the other leaves, why shouldn't you be allowed to use the perk you brought? Same applies to Deliverance if you're on first hook as last survivor. If you survived that long in the match, why is it fair to render a perk useless?

-If a killer didn't properly utilize their hooks and has created a deadzone, why should they be rewarded with a free kill for their poor play? You WILL likely escape grasp with Boil Over, and in that case, rightfully so. Killers fault for wasting hooks. Same as a 3 gen. Why should survivors get rewarded with an escape for boxing themselves in and not paying attention to what gens they're popping?

Stinks of an entitled killer who just wants a free NOED at endgame without using a perk slot.

  • @DrDeepwound said:

This thread brought to you by the letter E.

    E for Entitled.

Oh, okay. So alternate ideas and reasons why the change may not feel natural to the flow of the game is entitled now.

    Got it.

  • @Mister_xD said:

    I'll be honest with you:

At this stage of the trial, you lost. If you are literally the last person alive and you are being downed, you are dead and there is nothing about it you can do anymore. Making a Killer automatically execute you here does nothing besides saving both of you the time of them picking you up and hooking you manually (plus anything else they decide to do inbetween, e.g. waiting out your potential DS / waiting for you to crawl out of the pallet you might be in because of Power Struggle / simply slugging you to close hatch and get some bonus BP or because they have no nearby hooks or to just be a nuissance).

All of those "but what if-" scenarios you bring up are incredibly nieche to the point where it is unrealistic to assume you will get them to work. This is the reason why the last Survivor that is hooked does not get access to his Escape Attempts either and it applies here too.

    now for your counter arguments:

"Being last person hooked is game over": it's absolutely not

it absolutely is. dragging out every trial you play by an additional minute, just because someone might get a miniscule chance at an escape that will just result in their immediate death again in 95% of those cases because the Killer will simply redown and rehook them is just pointless. Not to mention the times where someone does jump off, gets downed and then sits on the floor for a minute straight so the Killer won't get DSed.

Not every killer will stand in front of the hook and wait for you to die

and why do you think they don't do that?

it's because they know that you can not escape no matter what and therefore go for as many bonus BP as they can. Change that and you'll be surprised how many Killers will gladly watch you enter second stage before wandering off to kick some stuff.

What if the killer wants to give hatch?

the Killer can always just not down you, just like they could always just not hook you to give hatch.

Too long, won't read. A down as last survivor is not the end of the game, and there are thousands of clips and videos out there to prove it. Bye lmao.

  • This whole chapter is so ugly PLEASE BHVR why didn't you save Sadako for the anniversary?

  • I mean, they don't have control over whether Funkos are made or not.

    Everything else, c'est la vie.

  • Finally, something I want to see even less than FNAF, and I've been watching anime since 1998.

  • Don't you dare trade Steeb. He's a limited edition.

  • I like how "rank" is just a rewards system, and they SAY it's just a measure of "how much you've played this season". But if that's the case, why depip? Why not transition to simply "ranking up"?

I'll admit I don't understand the scoring of the emblem system, especially as a killer. BP offerings talk about "bonus in the deviousness category" but which EMBLEM does it fall under? And why do these emblems matter in ranking up, if Rank is not indicative of slill?

The whole system needs an overhaul.

  • I think it could be improved, but it's better than Trapper just M1ing the body lol

  • @Valik said:

100% agree, in that I love to mix and match.

Some heads / bodies I want real bad, but I don't like the rest of the setup.

New Nea skin - love her top, don't care much for the white hair or lower portion. So what gives?

    Financing, Texturing, and DLC.

    • I think we all understand when there are Legendary sets that change a lot about the character - especially if they are licensed. The Birch Hag skin is Legendary because it's a licensed character. Makes sense, Chris Redfield is a Legendary set because he has his own voice lines and everything - basically his own survivor. Makes sense. When licensing and other overhauls are concerned, it makes absolute sense to lock the options into Legendary sets.
    • Texturing can be an issue. When you have certain elements depend upon others, you can run into problems. You want a lower with a hood, but it can cause issues with most hair options? Your awesome new Jacket you just designed for a survivor clips through the neck of the base model and you need to hide that bit of the neck with a special model? Legendary Skin means it will look good and won't have those bad clipping issues.
    • Financing is another big one. Let's look at Cosmetics as a 3 way split pizza that the devs think is totally good. They work hard to make it look cool and slave over every inch before they put it up for a sale. What happens when people can mix and match? They may hate the pants... maybe, it turns out, people dont like the hat as much for some reason? Suddenly, the profit margins of the sales drop by over 60%. Behavior depends on sales to inflate their cheap initial game cost. Giving players the option to simply NOT buy a portion of the product can be reeling in many ways.

It's not always realistic to expect customization options with specialty crafted skins, licensing, and pricing. BHVR wants to make the game as good as they can, and it's hard to give everyone what they want.

You have to ask yourself "I might be okay with clipping issues in cosmetics, but does EVERYONE think that way?"

I want more individual customization options too, but its not always so easy.

Im pretty sure by the posts in this forum alone, between having more customizable characters with minor clipping (which we rarely see in game because we're in motion) and all the bugs and glitches the actual game has, we'd rather have unlocked sets so that we can purchase the pieces we want, and fund the department responsible for fixing the actual game.

  • @_NIGHTMARE_ said:

    *Cries in Pyramid Head*

It's probably licensing though, but if they weren't locked, I'd have brought them by now.

The funny thing is, demo's cosmetics weren't locked despite him being licensed...

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

Well people buy them so probably not.

They'd get more money out of the people by allowing us to purchase pieces of sets we actually want instead of us declining to buy because we don't want it linked.

  • Same here. I've faced 2 Myers who had no infinite Tier 3 or exposure perks active. Exposed status effect remained after the Tier down music played, so he should've been in Tier II.

    I am on Xbox.

Most recent match was on Badham, Myers had no add-ons; perks were Unrelenting, Distressing, Deerstalker, and Mindbreaker (fearmonger).

Never understood why survivors BM killers who are obviously losing the match because they're below the team's skill level, new to the game, new to the killer, etc. It's just not necessary.

  • @Satelit said:

They said you won't get banned for the cosmetic glitch,it's not an exploit.

Don't really care; not the point of the thread. We shouldn't have to glitch cosmetics that obviously don't need to be locked. Some platforms also can't do the glitch.

    Stop defaulting to the glitch.

  • We have Nancy's grandma cosmetics. That's close enough for now lol

  • It's not a survivors job to sit and babysit you while you jerk it to your meme HAHA FUNNY BOOBA and neglect growing enough brain cells to play like normal and get a 4k.

  • I'd rather have FNAF in DBD than mpreg. Please do not. The entity mercilessly keeps us all childfree in the fog.

  • I would definitely repurchase the base game on PS5 (and later PC) as long as I could keep my progression, DLC, and cosmetics. I've spent way too much money in game to just start over, especially after the loss of Stranger Things.

Correct. Hemorrhage regresses healing at the rate of 7% per second when you’re not actively healing. So if you don’t have enough medkit charges then don’t even start because you’ll just lose it.

Okay, thank you for clearing this up. I was really confused about the sound in particular, but also had no idea it would waste the remnants of a medkit.

  • We need answers, like, does Wraith have anxiety? Does he cause anxiety? Is anxiety anxious?

  • @Bwsted said:

The new hemorrage will reset the heal if you don't complete it.

However, the sound for missed skill check seems a buggy occurrence.

So, if I don't have enough charges in a medkit for a complete heal, I may as well not even use it, because hemorrhage will waste the charges?

And yes, the characters will make their pain sound and act like there was a missed skill check. When I tried healing the Kate myself, it did it a few times before I even had a skill check.

  • HAPPY UPDATE

Thank you devs, and thanks to @PaulieEsther for boosting the thread to their attention! The house number is 45 and the map is gorgeous! The Halloween franchise nerd in me is elated, and I can tell you guys put a lot of work into it. <3

  • @Valik said:

I agree overall, but I could see how this can add a certain element of bloat.

Instead, there should probably be a Charm store, and you can use AC to buy charms - and when you look at charms, you can see what challenges they are locked behind or what Rifts they were from originally. It's always going to be more economical to get the pass, but this way Behavior can make a few dollars letting us get our favorite charms, and it also encourages future investment in tomes for the future.

This should also be true for all cosmetics. People should be stunned in reverence at the massive amount of content the game has, but the vast majority of it is sadly locked behind a shroud of mystery, which often fails to draw people in initially.

I agree. There was one time I KNOW I didn't complete, because I had no internet. It bothers me to no end that I can't get those charms, for the sake of completion. I know eventually the skins will come out in store, but still.

The idea to offer missed items for AC is a great idea.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

These days I always take a screenshot to keep track of my Rift completion. I do it so I have proof in case BHVR loses my progress or something. Even if they had a way for you to look at your past Rift completion, I wouldn't trust it. According to posts on the forums, people have lost auric cell purchases and event rewards and BHVR told them they had no records of the person having ever owned those things. Take your own screenshots or videos for peace of mind.

I'll definitely start doing it, since I'm 100% positive I completed the Rift in question T_T

Hoping this Yui skin comes to the store soon bc it's one of the better ones.

  • @CodeDB said:

For what its worth, I agree with you. There are plenty of time I see a cool skin and wonder where its from but can't find it in the store. Describing it can also be hit or miss so being able to go back through prior rifts would be nice (especially if it remembers where you left off).

Thank you! I know not many people are interested in charms, but especially newer players may see some of the better charms and want to get them as well, or recolored skins.
