Ruin was more of a slow-down perk for low-tier Killers that had a hard time with progression and map pressure, I can see how the new Ruin still holds true to this... but now it doesn't make it harder for newer Survivors or Survivors that can't hit the skill checks every single time.

Plus, if a SWFs team can always hit the Hex skill-checks, than Ruin was basically useless... I actually like the new Ruin, it allows for more versatility and gives Killers another slot option for more combos.

But we'll see what happens in the PTB, things might change or new changes will be added into the LIVE version, we'll just have to wait and see!

Right, and that's the thing. I don't think ANYONE should get punished in the game except for making poor mistakes. Not looping correctly, not counter looping and so on.

However, if I don't have enough information early on where people are except for moving around to where gens are to find which ones they were working on, is a different story. That being said,I don't really like having to run two different gen perks, even with the new ruin. Does it make surveillance really good now? Absolutely. But what really makes me upset about the new ruin change is that there won't be as many points in brutality. So you'd have to hope you get enough hits on survivors, breaking pallets.

In all honesty, I believe if the devs changed how quickly gens could be completed they could've made ruin into something else. I never really felt that regressing gens was a good thing on ruin, but instead it would've been nice if Ruin actually just slowed the gen speeds and that you could only get a buff to increasing gen speeds by getting the great skill check while slightly increasing its size.

  • When the Doctor rework was mentioned, everyone said he was going to get nerfed, he's not in fact I believe he's really good now.

Lery's looks more amazing than I had anticipated. Definitely more even playing field in my opinion, some of the loops that were really good are still good but some have been cut off and more easy to tell where a survivor is going. Not to mention better hiding spots.

However, as for ruin. Is it worse than it was? Yes. It's having killers move around more because survivors aren't running straight into the killer, however, it doesn't really help against the gens being pumped out left and right. It only helps when the gens start going down in numbers which makes getting a gatekeeper emblem pretty damn difficult. I had a game where two gens were done and everyone was basically dead. But, no it did not give me an emblem for that.

As for the Rift I'm still going to get it, people who said they're not going to get it are problem full of themselves because we all know that new outfits are hot

Edit: Also, Oni changes. I haven't really played Oni but this might give me a reason to. However, I know I'll definitely be playing more Doctor. The amount of information you can get off of him now is amazing. Plus I don't have to keep changing stances, I can just static blast and find people

  • Honestly, it'll be annoying to adept to it. However, they really do need to address gen speeds and they basically also broke gatekeeper emblem

Exactly. I think if they changed ruin in the way they did then they need to slow regular gen speed. Once you get around the higher ranks then people start knowing what to do and who should be on gens, who should be saving, whos looping where, and just overall game knowledge. Gens are gonna start popping left and right. Its not very easy to juggle 4 survivors who all know how to play the game to a high skill extent.

If Ruin wasn't a totem perk, I'd be more okay with it. I don't know why they didn't just change it to where it'd slow gen progression instead of just you stop working on gens it starts regressing. Cool, so now it's even more useless because you can't even kick the generator and if the gen is completed, it doesn't even matter. Now the whole "just pressure everyone off gens." Well, the way they changed gate keeper, I won a game with 2 gens done and didn't get a bronze emblem for it. Nothing.

Depends on the killer you are playing. There's tons of braindead easy killers to play these days. Legion, plague and freddy come to mind. Literally anyone can do well with them. Legion and plague? They see you, you are now injured. Freddy? Just spam M2 as you walk around and congrats you are now impossible to loop, and can bloodlust at every tile in the game with bamboozle.

At the same token, Plague is slow. If you want to not be as slow with her when charging vile purge, you need add ons that increase the charge. That being said, there's plenty of loops where you can't hit them with it so you're forced to M1. Freddy is good at shutting down loops, doesn't exactly make him brain dead. Legion is something else, yes he can use his power to force survivors to mend and slow the game down in that aspect. But it won't fix the gen speeds.

  • Honestly, make it to where it takes 60 seconds to do a gen with two people on it. Hell, even 55 seconds is pretty good.

These survivors who think "oh you want an easy 4k omegalul." All survivors have to do is touch gens, try and loop a killer unless you're super stealthy then you don't even need to do that. And unhook. Meanwhile as a killer you have to chase someone, hit them twice before downing them, put them on a hook 2 times against 4 other people. Yeah, must be easier than doing gens

  • People used ruin to help slow the game down. I just got a game off the PTB where literally 4 gens went flying. Did I still win? Yes because the survivors put themselves into a 3 gen situation. Imagine having a game where the survivors DIDN'T 3 gen themselves. I'm sorry, but the problem wasn't ruin (not entirely) the problem is that survivors can do gens too quickly.

  • I'm going to be honest, I'm over the changes. They claim they're going to hide the perk better, cool let's see how it goes. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the fact you won't get points for kicking gens because they'll already be regressing. So, you could even possibly run surge with ruin so if someone is working on a gen, you'll know

  • @NullSp3c said:

I dont have that problem with legion, specifically, because he has really good chaser and malicious emblems. But if youre playing plague good luck reaching red ranks.

Actually legion is the most rewarding killer in terms of emblems, if you do good, you can get a double pip with long games.

So many things are broken with this game now and the devs refuse to do the right changes and to listen to the right people: AKA streamers/people that play dbd for a living anf just do thr changrs that they want (90% of them survivor sided).

Many people say that the ds change was a nerf, which i disagree. Old ds could br juggled, no obsrssions couldnt proc it 80% of the time or more, enduring affected it and the duration was almost half of the new one. A nerf transformed into a buff really quickly, even tho it is active only 60 seconds at once, those 60 seconds were thr time that the old one procced on one guy if you juggled.

I've reached red ranks previously with Plague. But honestly I think red ranks are just complete and utter trash. All that red ranks are is bragging rights. There's no higher skill difference (some of them can be a lot better players, yes) but for the most part they're the same kind of people I was going against in purple or green ranks. The problem I'm mainly having with the new ruin change is you're going to want to be playing more M1 killers because you won't get any brutality points off of breaking gens. The devs are basically saying "we don't even want you to play with the new ruin."

  • I'm usually very optimistic about what the devs do. Doctor changes? Excited to see what happens.

But then they decide to act like Ruin usually stays til late game. It's a hex perk, soon as survivors see you have it, they're going to cleanse it. They generally cleanse a lot of the totems on the map. I would rather the devs be honest and say "we don't want to see this perk being used 80% of the games." Well, instead of releasing information of ONE perk and how often it's used, why not show how often other perks are used across the board? The thing that bothers me is that it's magically going to stay late game.

I don't think they understand what's going to happen now, killers will now have to rely on slugs and tunnels to win games. Then the community will say "killers shouldn't be allowed to do that." And don't get me wrong, I absolutely hate having to slug survivors to win, but in the end of the day, I WANT to win. Not necessarily be a try hard about it, but I do want to win. And I'm sure many of the survivors feel the same way.

That being said, just let Hex: Ruin just become a normal perk. It's not going to last very long, and we all know this. So until they show me something that'll actually let ruin stay on the map or perma in the match, I have very little faith in it. No, I don't use ruin on every killer, just slower killers; Plague, Pig and even some killers you need time setting up as.

  • I don't believe you can chat with players outside of the windows store.

  • @NullSp3c said:

I think i will uninstall, not because of ruin or doctor's changes themselves, but because of the ideas behind it.

Killers are supposed to sweat and even new survivors dont need to learn the game to leave the match.

Also, devs have no idea of how fast the gens can go in red ranks and being a legion main i can assure you that my levels of stress go really high, even tho i perform well in most matches (again, sweating a lot to perform well)

Survivors having a perk is to fix their mistakes and killers having a perk means that they only get a benefit if they do something for it.

Gen times go too fast and rng has a huge place in the game that is too much for a big part of the playerbase.

I play swf at red ranks with my friends and most of the games are fairly easy to win and if the killer doesnt have ruin i have that feeling "well, this game is practically won".

I think that this is a matter of the enjoyment to play as killer, and not a matter of power. SOME killers already have power, but they lack the time and NO COOLDOWNS to do so.

Legion is a good example of changes made only thinking about survivors because what makes a killer play differently from others is the power and legions power got gutted in almost every way possible and the worst one was the frequency that you can use it and the punishment/reward proportion that it got.

Playing as killer should feel free and not afraid that a guy loops you while the others do gens and then leave after 5 minutes and you need to wait long pauses/cooldowns to use your power again.

If the changes go through and ruin is indeed bad (it seems horrible right now brcause the perk is counterproductive to itself) i will most likely uninstall.

The faith that most people had on the devs is gone for months (for me is since may that were the legion changes).

Unfortunately, even if you do sweat as a killer and get say a 4K within 5 minutes or less, you won't get a pip. You'll barely even gain any points, I got a 4K as ghost face within about 5 minutes and only got 12kish points and actually de-piped.

  • I'll most likely stay. Unfortunately, I just won't be able to play as nicely as I'd enjoy doing. That being said, hopefully the devs will make some changes to ruin by making it a perk that'll be a normal perk instead of it being easily deactivated. Because we know survivors aren't going to care and just destroy it anyways. Why wouldn't that?

  • @Thatbrownmonster said:

Guess I'll say goodbye to plague and say hello to spirit and huntress

I could never say goodbye to my Plague.

  • @DeathBeam said:

    But will Surge work?

No, surge won't work if the gen is already regressing from survivor's leaving the gen. So basically only two that'll go well with it is surveillance and thrilling tremors.

  • @Pharaoh211 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/970282#Comment_970282

It's funny because the less killers there are. the more this game is gonna degrade. This is gonna be a slow brutal death if this keeps up, and no one wants to see that.

There's going to be new killers coming to the game, and there will be the veteran survivors that will absolutely destroy them by gen rushing and just bullying. Then they'll look for ways to slow the game down a bit more. Hopefully the devs will have found a better solution by then.

  • The problem is, a totem staying that late in the game is almost impossible. So, honestly I'd rather see ruin be made into a normal perk instead of a totem. Sorry, but I'm not able to kick gens, not getting points for it. Only possible points you're going to get from this is for gate keeper...which how well will that happen if most gens go flying in the start.

You either go for a survivor to attempt a kill. Or you pressure them off gens, which you're not going to get kills

  • @luka2211 said:

you could use surveillance it could be a pretty good combo with ruin after it gets nerfed instead of PWYF.The problem is its a hex perk which means it won't last long

Yeah, that's why I'd rather just use PWYF, Monitor, BBQ and possibly nemesis on Plague. With iri seal and devotee amulet. At this point, it won't be what's going to slow the game down at the start. It'll be "how fast can you kill the survivors." But trust me, even if I down or kill all four survivors early on with 0-1 gens actually being completed (this is as freddy without using ruin) I'm instantly a try hard sweaty killer.

  • Of course it has to cater to the survivors. "Omg almost every killer is using a perk to slow the progression of gens early on so they can actually possibly rank up?"

  • Honestly, here's what I'm going to do... Iri seal with devotee amulet on plague. PWYF, Monitor and Abuse, Ruin, BBQ or thrilling tremors. Yes, please do some gens while you become fully sick and I can basically kill everyone with one felt swoop. Because this is going to be the way to get around the gen rushing. Insta downs on survivors.

Well sorry you feel you gotta waste a perk slot on Ruin solely cause you picked a slow Killer. There are ways to play around these things. If the Killer is slow just pick which gens you want to sacrifice and protect the ones that you know you'll be able to reasonably patrol. Sometimes you just gotta learn to play differently with each Killer and now you guise don't have a choice.

Rofl. Of course we don't have a choice because we're getting cucked on gate keeper now? Like I said, time to run Iri plague. It'll be nice to see survivors complain about it and how it needs to be nerfed. "it's punishing." Mori's will def be more fun now as well

  • @senki527 said:

stop crying, you got 1000 of survivor nerfs already. Balanced landing, self care, exhaustion, pallet vacuum etc.

Because instantly teleporting to another side of a pallet was totally realistic, yeah? And running around with a deep wound makes total sense that it doesn't go down at all for the timer. How many add-ons for killer powers have been nerfed? But hey, apparently you shouldn't rely on perks to win the game.

  • @LordEmrich said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969942#Comment_969942

Nah, some of us just actually learn to play as each Killer efficiently rather than sticking the same perks on every single Killer and acting like we're good. I personally play Adept Killer + 1 generic perk so I feel like I'm better than most of the crutch perk Killers that have been whining today.

@xChrisx is correct in his post. You all have relied on Ruin and now it's gonna be trash so now you wanna take your ball and go home. Thanks for Ruining (cwatididthar) Hag cause you all don't wanna learn how to play the Killers properly.

If I'm playing a lower mobility killer, yes I'm going to use ruin. If I'm playing something where I can move around the map more easily, no I'm not going to use ruin. However, ruin is kind of needed for some killers on the early game pressure. Those are just pure facts. But, with ruin changes, I can just have fun using iri seal Plague and have survivors eventually complain about that til Plague will get nerfed

  • @HatCreature said:

Thankfully the Ruin change doesn't hurt me as much as it does others, I prefer Devour Hope and Thana over Ruin.

I only really use ruin on killers that don't have the mobility. Plague for example. If I'm playing Freddy or a killer with good mobility, I have no need for ruin

  • @HatCreature said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969920#Comment_969920

The entire update is them saying how it is for Survivors but not once did they ever say why it was hard for Survivors, 80% of users use Ruin is not an indication it is super powerful but an indication the game is fundamentally flawed, which they refuse to acknowledge. I'm watching Tru3 read the notes and it's making me more depressed to hear it out-loud than me reading it myself. I haven't been playing since Oni is released and I am not being motivated to come back.

Honestly, once killers don't use ruin, they'll find better anti gen perks and combos. Then the survivors will complain about those. It's going to be never ending and it makes me sad

  • @Colton147 said:

Early game, slightly more survivor-sided. However, come late game, with less generators, killers would be able to patrol generators much easily and the generators will end up regressing. It will allow killers to locate survivors much easily.

Sure. If the totem isn't broken

  • @DingDongs said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969743#Comment_969743

Yeah, i'm planning to play other game when this change happen because we know it's not gonna be happy to play for both side

    I'd recommend ARK:Survival Evolved

Yeah. I'd totally play ark again but not official servers. The devs are arguably worse at balancing

  • @xChrisx said:

I dont use ruin, try different perks/playstyle or u and other ppl will never learn how to play killer properly

Right. Hi Otz. Or are you just using killers with really good mobility. Can you use a killer that's slow on bigger maps? Especially at red ranks where the survivors have good advantages in really good loops?

  • @HatCreature said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969855#Comment_969855

I didn't mention that in my post but yeah, like I mentioned I made my own version of this which is better. But then again I need clarification on the math lol Hexes are bad perks because Survivors know all of the obvious spots that are in their face when they spawn, I constantly spawn next to Ruin so nothing about this perk changes except that it is weaker because it doesn't slow down gens and will get broken immediately, which they didn't change since that was the glaring problem Killers had which they didn't seem to care about in this update.

Oh, absolutely not. Isn't it funny how they want to change doctor so he can't give survivors exhaustion anymore? Meanwhile they want to make one of the most viable killer perks obsolete? I hope they give killers more perks that counter exhaustion perks in the future. Because isn't it so fair and definitely not annoying to go against survivors that'll 99% their sprint burst? Absolutely terrible.

  • @Kagari_Leha said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/968783#Comment_968783

It will be less strong sure, but i think it has good potential on a lot of killers, especially combined with Thrilling Tremors for example, or PGTW

You won't be able to combo it with PGTW due to the fact it's already regressing. Basically only combos is thrilling tremors and surveillance

  • So I'm going to say it now. The fact it's a hex perk and the devs seem to think it'll last that long in the game is amusing. Just make it a base perk instead. You'll be lucky if it lasts a minute and a half not to mention looking for survivors who'll split up so you chase one person while others work on different gens. But now they want to try and get killers to use Pop, surge, and other anti gen perks that normally just effect one gen. Yes, surge and thrilling can effect multiple gens (mainly thrilling tremors) while you're lucky to hit maybe 2-3 gens with surge. Just, please do us a favor and make it a permanent perk.

  • What're the current most meta survivor perks? BT, DH, DS, Iron will, Adrenaline, head on (kind of) Urban. unbreakable, balanced landing. Sorry, maybe the survivors could show us how they're not bias so we can get some of the perks nerfed. But of course, it it's going to make it more difficult for killers to even get gate keeper. Let's just wait until the devs see how well higher mobility killers are going to be doing and nerf them. So we'll be forced to play killers with lower mobility so survivors can start using all their ormand and cold wind farm offerings.

  • @HatCreature said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969671#Comment_969671

Oh I meant Surge works with Surveillance so Hex Ruin with Surveillance would show you what Gens are regressing while Surge hits multiple Gens in the area.

Right. You'll basically only get value out of surge if someone is working on a gen and you down someone within 32 meters of it. However, if the person on the gen stops working on it before you down said person, surge does not proc. So basically you're better off using surveillance with it and or thrilling tremors. I don't really like the fact you're basically not getting any brutality points off of kicking gens since if you're using ruin, you can't kick a gen.

  • Nope. Literally the only perk that combos off with this is surveillance. Because it's regressing on it's on, surge won't proc off of it. Basically the two perks you can combo it with is Thrilling and Surveillance.

  • @Rizzo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969571#Comment_969571

You don't get brutality points from the automatic regression, no.

Welp, this just makes me even more sad.

  • @Rizzo said:

Ruin regresses gens automatically, you don't have to kick them or to use Surge to activate Ruin.

So, my question is this. Do you get any brutality points from it. If not, it seems like a waste. So you'd need to run thrilling tremors...Sigh.

  • @Siren said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969234#Comment_969234

I play at red/purple ranks and have never used Ruin so. I don't want to sound rude to anyone, but being a good killer is more about relying on your own skills than perks. So if you truly cannot contend at higher ranks without ruin, maybe you don't belong there, I don't know.

If I'm playing a low mobility killer such as Plague or Pig. I'm going to need ruin especially if I'm put into a larger map such as Mount Ormand or Cold wind farm.Sorry, but there's really no getting around maps like that.

  • @Siren said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969274#Comment_969274

From what Peanit has said, it is a passive regress. Meaning: A survivor is working on a gen, and then stops to go save someone on a hook. As soon as that survivor lets go of the gen, the gen itself will start regressing without being kicked. It is a passive regress, so you will not have to take the time to kick the gen.

So, basically you can't use surge for extra regression unless someone is injured on the gen and you down them with an M1. So all they have to do is get off the gen, and surge doesn't count for it. Second question is do you even get brutality points for it..lol. I was hoping it would be a saving grace for surge to combo with it. But I suppose thrilling tremors is what you'll need.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969274#Comment_969274

As soon as a survivor leaves the gen, it regresses normally.

Because there's no such thing as passive regression.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/969305#Comment_969305

    Yes.

Yes. And the doctor one that I forgot the name

So, basically you can't have two gen regression perks unless it's ruin and thrilling Tremors. sigh there goes my idea of surge and ruin.

  • That is literally my question. Is it regressing normally (like a kick) or is it just a passive regression...these are questions that need answering. Because if it's passive, surge could combo well with it

  • Basically if anything is annoying to survivors = nerf. If anything is annoying to killers? Eh, we'll give it about a year or so for a change.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/968997#Comment_968997

But the best Survivors were not affected by Ruin anyway?

I love the game, don't get me wrong. And it takes a lot for me to say "#########" to the devs. But make up your minds, do you want to cater to the GOOD survivors or do you want to cater to the ones who haven't learned how to hit great skill checks? You could literally just tap the gens with two people, one having prove thyself and it's almost as if ruin doesn't exist... Are we going to get tool box nerfs or possibly even gen speed nerfs? Oh, no let's punish killers that're slower. So, high mobility killers will most likely get nerfed. Slow the rate gens are repaired and maybe killers wouldn't have to rely so heavily on ruin. And entity forbid you get a 4 man kill in 5 minutes or less. Because guess what, you won't even pip. You'll be lucky if you even back pip.

Sorry but the best salesman in the world isn't selling this garbage. I just wish someone would come out and say why it's beneficial for the game to funnel every survivor into rank 1 while making the killer experience worse and worse.

Do you want to know why? Because survivors who couldn't hit the skill checks means killer must be punished. You know those killers like legion, huntress, basically anything that doesn't have high mobility? Yup, complete and utter garbage now unless you're some kind of god like Otz. What's next, "Pop has a 25% regression rate? 15% now." So basically, unless you have a high mobility killer or able to mindgame tf out of survivors, SoL.

  • @Avilgus said:

    Ruin 2.0 😫

Maybe if they didn't have it as a Hex perk, it'd be better. But no, still a totem.. *sigh*

  • So, are the devs going to make Hex Totems harder to find? Give us a perk to help protect them? I've gotten into games and literally spawned RIGHT next to Ruin. I've spawned in a game, moved for 30 seconds to look for a survivor, boom. Gone. So, are we going to get gen speeds nerfed? Or do we basically have to hope for potato survivors?

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/968879#Comment_968879

    You're not wrong.

I enjoy her a lot thematically, she just has a lot to be desired. There's so much potential that could be done to her.

And they just nerfed ruin. So, seeing as she's already a slow killer...she's almost out of existance. Guess I'll have to practice her without ruin :'). Time to stock pile iri seals before those possibly get nerfed

  • Basically, if people are going to use ruin, they're going to want to use Thrilling Tremors, or surge with it. But at this point, why even bother? If anything, this will make killers want to slug more. Keeps people off gens when you slug. Did Ruin need a change, sure. But this is basically butchering the perk. And it's STILL a totem. I believe Huntress lullaby got stronger. Omegalul

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/968799#Comment_968799

    Yeah something like that.

I honestly don't know why I never thought of this idea before, I really like it.

So best case scenario IF you run M&A with 4 survivors all refusing to heal you'd have an 8meter TR. That would allow you sneak up a lot better. She would still be extremely tall to see coming, you'd hear if she got Corrupted and she would still have a red stain.

It feels like enough to be more incentivized to cleanse without being overbearing.

I didn't even want this to seem like a troll post either. I really do like Plague, just feels like an M1 killer until they cleanse...and that's how I feel most killers are tbh.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/968751#Comment_968751

I don't disagree with almost any of this.

Since it isn't fun for survivors to get debuffed, how about this. For every survivor fully infected/broken, the killer gets a 4meter reduced TR?

This would steadily make Plague more dangerous for the more survivors that choose to not cleanse but also not making it "anti fun" by debuffing the survivors per say.

Honestly, that would make Plague a lot better. I didn't even think about that...monitor and abuse is a must use for plague imo since people will hide soon as they hear her TR. I believe max range for her vile/corrupt purge is what, 12-16 meters?

  • ...Okay, that's over kill. Ruin with surge? However this is over kill. Welp, time to find build changes. Granted ruin will still be trash because people will most likely cleanse it within the first 30 seconds of the match
