  • Because the pip system rewards you for outplaying people of similar skill, if you played against a bunch of newcomers and stomped them to the ground you won, but you didnt really proved anything.

Its similar to putting Djokovic or Nadal against some guy who plays tenins on Sundays because he loves it, they will probably win but they didnt prove much, should that win give them points in the ATP ranking? (it shouldnt low their rank either).

I disagree. I think Myers and Demo are the two most balanced killers in the game.

Demo has a little bit of everything while not being overly oppressive in any way so that it feels unfair. He's also one of the funnest killers to go against. I think he's the Gold standard when it comes to killers.

Myers is also very balanced as long as he's not using his best add-ons. Infinite tier 3 and tombstone piece are incredibly strong and don't take all that much stalk when combined with a memorial. Outside of those add-ons he has a good back and forth with the survivors as well as multiple ways that he can be played which makes him a lot of fun to play as and to go against. Also a gold standard when it comes to killers.

Deathslinger is way too strong in the 1v1 for me to consider him the most balanced. There are so many little tricks you can do around pallets that it sometimes feels unfair. It's not much different then Pyramid Head or Huntress where you're damned if you do and damned if you don't which I don't think represents balance. I think survivors and killers should both have equal options when going against each other.

I completely agree with Myers (dont know about Demo as I dont own ST chapter) he has a ton of ways to play, small TR stealth, massive TR EW3 Infectious, Jumpscare etc. Has an engaging power which also allow for a lot of ways to play with it instead of the latest "I get to the Survivor, use my power like Legion, Oni, DS and PH" trend, he is decent at chases, decent at pressuring people, decent at scaring people away with EW3, his only true weakness is lack of mobility which Survivors can exploit and you have to learn how to work around it (it can be done, trust me), you have to think how to play the map you are given, what to defend, where to herd people so they get rid of the pallets you want gone etc instead of pingpongballing around gens like others or spaming their powers non stop.

You screw with Myers you get punished, Survivors screw they get severely punished, he gets no second chances because he offers none.

Got myself from rank20 to rank1 with Myers all the way (a bit of Jigsaw on the side too), when I read those "Hillbilly most balanced Killer EVER" I always tought "what about Myers?".

  • What about the claws moving around the guy when chased, the high pitch sound indicating you found the obssesion and the "obsession found" event score?.

I mean we could put the guy a big flashing target once you spot him or neon lights flashing around him but I think it would be a bit of an overkill.

    They can with permission.

Anyways that doesn't matter, I was saying that to the person who was going crazy

No they cant in certain countries, as I stated in one of my posts in this thread, where I live I cant renounce to any of my rights, one of them is the right to privacy even if I were to sign a contract giving them the power to monitorize my microphone outside of their game a judge could rule it null and potentially fine BHVR for doing that (this is done to protect people who dont know the law from being tricked to renounce their rights by less than honest silver tongued crooks or corporations).

Not to mention Brussels asking why they are monitorizing microphone activity outside of their game, I would love to see their faces when they hear "because some people got stomped by SWFs!".

  • You are right, to be fair Killers should have only a 4% chance of regressing a generator after a kick, also have only 3 attempts at kicking each generator, also if the attempt doesnt work the generator should advance 16,7% of its progression. It would open the way for new perks like giving you 6 attempts at kicking the gen.

This way would be equal to kobe, 1 of every 20 kicks would actually benefit you instead of helping the rival.

They wouldn't be monitoring it outside of when you are playing swf.

It doesnt matter, they cant monitorize anything you input outside of their product even when said product is running, the microphone is not sending voice comands to DBD, they cant monitorize its activity.

Phone apps can have access to phone mics, when granted. The same could be possible for dbd.

The problem introduced is could you get permission to monitor mics from each platform, if you can add mic monitoring functionality.

Now if all this is possible, you still have to get user consent.

DBD has a small population. Implementing some type of mic monitoring penalty system might be doable, but the real question is how much of a negative impact would it be to the playerbase.

Punishing players for using mics with their friends just doesn't seem like a good business decision.

Lets paraphrase it better, "there is no legal way for BHVR to monitorize your mic", at least not in the UE.

For example where I live I cant consent to renounce to any rights granted by the constitution or the law, BHVR may give me a new EULA where I agree to be monitorized but since im renouncing to one of my rights the contract and signature is voided the very moment I accept it.

Sure they can do it on the back, risk getting found and being fined by the UE or even banned from selling their product here until they get rid of the monitorizing code. No sane small company would do that.

"Fun fact: you great skill check's bonus progression had to be CUT IN HALF after ruin was nerfed due to how powerful they were in reality."

    Eh, disagree.

I think the Great Skill Check Progression-Bonus was cut in half because it was the easiest way to make Gens a little bit slower, without actually increasing the Gen Time. Like, you dont really need to think a lot about this or check if it is balanced or not.

I agree with you and Ill add to the mix that nerfing the great skillcheck bonus was something pretty much noone gave a damn, there was no drama, no hundreds of posts filled with tears and rage, no "devs refund my money", no "lol survivors you had this coming, time to git gud" threads etc.

I believe the fact that pretty much noone was going to care about it weighted a lot.

  • Extremely distasteful and a way to glorify someone who shouldnt be glorified at all.

Also we already have a Killer similar to zodiac killer and other attention seeking murderers, Ghostface.

  • I played mostly Survivor for a lot of time as I like it more then I started playing 50/50 or so.

Rank 1 on both roles and I still like Survivor morem but as Killer, not depending on having an awful team is very refreshing, especially with how bad the matchmaking has been lately.

  • I saw once a guy calling The Legion "The Millenials", It made me laugh.

  • @Pennywise said:

You sound like a naive person to think that in any multiplayer game there will be no balance made to characters that you personally invest money into.

It is a major nerf but let's be honest here who wasn't expecting this? Why are hillbilly players acting surprised?

Look at every other killer, how they are designed, how their abilities will come with a cooldown or some other kind of penalty or limitation and then look at the hillbilly as he is now and ask yourself what is wrong with that picture? Can you honestly say that hillbilly is fine as he is compared to every other killer?

I for one I'm sick of starting games with hillbilly, hearing him run around with his chainsaw throughout the entire game with no penalty at all. I welcome these changes because it finally brings a hillbilly down to the level of all the other killers and as a hillbilly player you should be welcoming more complexity to what is probably the easiest killer in the game.

Probably they repeated the "most balanced killer ever" mantra to themselves so many times they ended up believing it.

  • I think they went for Hillbilly change first because it was on the list and its easy to do. Believe it or not most of your list is not as easy as to put some kind of CD on a power.

The only thing I believe would be easier are Moris and Keys but they have a problem with that rework, the very moment they announce a change to either of them (even if they were to be changed at the same time to avoid drama) people would go INSANE with tantrums and tears everyone would start burning all their Moris and Keys until there were none left to make the "enemy" experience as miserable as possible because "HOW DARE YOU TOUCH MY MORIS/KEYS, ITS ALL YOUR FAULT BOOSTED KILLERS/SURVIVORS", making the game unplayable and super unfun for everyone for a time.

It happened with the Ruin and Toolbox nerf, the sheer amount of Ebonys I had to suffer when they announced the Ruin change still gives me nightmares.

  • Midwich shouldnt set a standard for anything, unless it gets removed and whoever designed the map send to the corner with the pointed cap to think about his actions, it can be a standard for that.

Jokes aside and on a more serious tone, its not the first map featuring such Exit Gates setup, The Game has them like that and Lery's too (most of the time).

I'll take haddonfield over ormond any time of the day, ormond is just filled with safe pallets next to loops with godpallets. At least trapper is great on Haddonfield, no killer excels in Ormond.

I find Ormond super easy to 3gen, it usually has at least one or two posible 3gen setups, if Survivors notice your strategy and go for a spread gen they are forced to waste a lot of time and pallets if you defend it well. I believe the worst map for Killers are Mother's Dwelling and certain Rotten Fields setups.

  • I believe they have already decided on removing the button mashing thing and the survey is to gauge the community reaction, which should be positive since Im yet to find one person who likes how it works.

  • Nah they just need better hiding spots in the older maps.

Would be nice if survivors did have something that separated them from one another aside from looks and voices. Something small but relating to backstory would be nice.

In paper is a good idea but it would make the Survivors groups very homogeneous, in the end there is always going to be a better option and people will naturally flock to it.

  • Agreed, Survivors should have a cooldown on their power... oh wait...

  • No, the change to chainsaws is just a mid chapter thing, the graphic upgrade is supposed to be later this year, probably very late unless they have a lot of work already done.

  • Cages are designed to allow for a very fast hook so caging is better IF you are chasing two survivors, you down one, send him to a cage in 3 seconds and keep chasing the other guy or if you suspect a pallet or flashlight save, as they are a huge benefit to put pressure in those 2 scenarios they come at the cost of no Pop, no Thrilling etc.

If any of those circumstances do not apply I believe is better to hook.

  • I just remembered, Predators dont hunt defenseless and unharmed people as they think of them as unworthy prey, they try to hunt only the strongest around, thats why he choose to go after Arnold and his crew and leave the guerrillas alone, memes aside I dont think Survivors fit his prey of choice.

Also take on account how insanely strong the Predator actually is, he managed to kill an elite squad of war hardened veterans only losing because he choose to fight an honorable fight against a not-so-honorable rival (dutch killed him using a trap in a supposedly bare fisted fight). Humans like Jigsaw, Leatherface, Michael Myers, Ghostface etc wouldnt last a minute against one of those guys yet the predator killed them easily and supernatural beings like Freddy or Jason would only win because their deus ex machina jumbomumbo powers, if they were to put the Predator he would feel so incredible weak it would kill the character. Do we really want a predator with very limited jumping (if jumping at all) weak stealth, no canonball sized wound inflicting plasma blaster, no massive strength, no flaying etc? nah he would look like a wuss, it would be like putting The Terminator and seeing a unstoppable robot made of steel and titanium get stoped by a wooden pallet.

  • Predator is an action film and this game is insipired by slasher films so I dont think it will fit (as I dont think Demogorgon fits at all either).

  • @brokedownpalace said:

Also I think if people are saying they consider 1 survivor escape to feel like a loss then that really speaks to how they see balance. If you think 1 survivor escaping is a loss then I'm gonna guess that you also think this game is terribly balanced in favor of survivors.

Just my theory, though. Doesn't mean it's true in all cases.

I agree with you and I believe a ton of "this game is Survivor sided and Killer feels miserable and weak" arguments come from this mindset where people consider anything less than 4k a massive loss and eternal shame for you and your ancestors.

  • It depends, as Killer if 2 escape but they are on their death hook its a tie, if 2 escape because I got a lucky down at the end and then another lucky down from overaltruistic Survivors its a loss, I got 2 kills handed over and I dont like it, it feels like those "hey you participated, good for you!!" consolation medals.

For Survivor depends on how we played, what we faced and how much I believe everyone deserved what they got, I like to measure what build the Killer used and how fair/unfair it was. For example against Iri+Belt+Ebony Mori 1 escaping is a victory (2 is Merciless Survivors victory), against Tombstone Myers its a win if he doesnt get to Mori the 4 of us, even if we all die (I play Solo and in Solo he always gets EW3, the difference is how many gens are left).

  • The idea itself is very good and I like it but the way the game is right now it would call for a revamp and tweak of a lot of stuff, if DBD was in its infancy it would be doable, right now I see it as too much trouble.

  • @CosmicParagon said:

If all 4 survivors are in that room, something is VERY wrong.

First it doesnt need to be 4 survivors, 2 might have died already or last one with the hatch open with the killer refusing to let him out or going to close it to start EGC.

Second, it doesnt matter how unlikely the conditions might be, if there is a posibility to trap someone without any way to get out except disconecting it has to be addresed.

Its not about "its very unlikely to happen" its about "it might happen so they have to make it impossible to happen".

  • Nice idea, especially if they maintain the tone of the Killer, Clown being disgusting and gross, Trapper being huge and muscular, Plague being tall and lanky etc.

Halloween franchise is more than just movies, it's why they don't need to be constantly making movies to earn a profit. They have costume, t-shirts, toys, statues, etc. being released and sold all the time. There's also royalties from streaming/TV so needing to sell copies of the movie isn't a good indicator. Also the pretty consistent references in other tv/movies goes against your "not on people's minds" statement.

DBD is not the reason movies were being made again. Studio Rob Zombie worked with losing the rights and going to another is why movies were made again. It happens pretty often with large well known franchises in Hollywood - it's how we get so many remakes and reboots.

Not to mention Halloween is the highest grossing slasher franchise of all, beating Friday 13, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Scream, Nightmare on Elm Street and others.

Also one of the few slasher film franchises to have some films been well received by critics instead of being panned like almost everything else in the genre.

Except every remaining Survivor would have to be in that room at the same time for a hostage situation. This is just a thin excuse to remove a place where Survivors might lose. Because whining is easier than remembering to not go in there.

It doesnt matter how flimsy the conditions may be, if something can lead to an hostage situation should be changed, thats why they created the EGC, made the Basement stairs wider and put a hole in Thompsons House.

If there is a situation where one of the parties cant get out and his only way to do it is disconnecting it has to be changed.

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

Eventually, survivors will learn that you can't go into those rooms. You put yourself there.

    @Zoomies said:

Heaven forbid Killers have one powerful spot on one map. This advantage just cannot stand! Killer's aren't allowed any advantages!

The thing is, that room could lead to an hostage situation where people get in there and Killer blocks the window without any chance from the survivors to activate the EGC, he does have a point and it should be changed.

Yeah unfortunately not every killer has a clear human look, even ghostface and Myers wouldn’t have much sense without their masks (Myers face is showed one time when he was a teen, ghostface is just more than one person).

i think the only skin we have based on this concept is the chonky Oni, the one without the mask, or miss smithson for Nurse

His face is also shown in the end of the first film after Laurie takes off his mask to distract him, he is just a regular human, he looks a bit swollen on the left eye because he has been stabbed but overall he is very plain looking.

  • For some reason I find gen tapping not so very good, when they try it against me as Killer they seem to lose that edge to reach the pallet in time to not eat a hit (bonus points if they go down since I always have Pop and that gen is going to get it right after the hook).

  • I believe he is talking about Hex totems being lit (the curse totem is shining) and that SWF can pass the position of the totem in voice chat (but if it is PTVC, information can be transmitted where the curse totem is).

So to counter this make hex totems look like dull totems so SWF cant tell eachother where the it is (As a countermeasure against this, if you do not light all curse totems, you will not be able to communicate the position of the totem with PTVC) and that should make gen speeds go down since they will have to waste a lot of time searching for it (and the time to search for the totem will occur and the power generation speed will be somewhat slower).

My response is no, curses are very strong and totems are fine as they are EXCEPT the ones who are in plain sight, they dont have to be as hidden as Wally but they shouldnt be in open field like you can find them in the older maps.

  • "her hits will be more fair for survivors and less fair for her".

If by "less fair for her" you mean less hatchets where it looks like she is tossing cabers instead of axes I very much welcome this change, Huntress is Russian not Scottish.

  • @anarchy753 said:

Yeah it's normal. Billy mains have thought he was untouchable for years, and thought the constant chant of "Billy most balanced" blinded people to actually seeing him.

I never understood that mantra either, for me it always feel weird the fact that Hillbilly was the only Killer able to spam his power nonstop without any drawbacks, everyone else has limited use of his power or its situational or requires certain requisites to start using it.

Also can I point out the fact that this perks only strength in T3 is range of downing the survivor...

Like they could've added something more to crawl speed (5/10/15) seconds rather then all be 15 seconds...

Also could've done the same for crawl speed in general (10%/25%/50%) instead of all being 50%

Honestly I'd like to see more dynamic perk effects

Actually I would be fine if they pruned the perks to have only one rank or two, way less farming in the Bloodweb.

What killers do you guys play why you don't like Midwitch?

I find the map really good for killers probably because of how many times I got the map so I played on it a bunch, but it seems that the survivors get lost and kinda wander a bit sometimes causing them to run into me or my trails, snares and such. The only thing I don't like about it is the breakable walls but I don't like those on any map.

Now I've heard that the map is ######### for nurse but I don't play Nurse cause I don't like the play style.

I play Michael Myers and Jigsaw, used to play Ghostface too but the goddamn bugs with his reveal made me stop playing it. I know its supposed to be a map that benefits stealth killers but the map is so poorly tought and designed that I cant bear myself to play it even if it benefits me.

  • Why should the Killer be rewarded for failing to do his job?.

Also EGC isnt in the game to benefit the Killer or the Survivors, its there to speed things up by ending the trial to avoid hostage situations where Survivors would just troll the Killer nonstop with the gates opened.

  • As Survivor Coldwind Farm and Yamaoka State, I prefer stealth and disengaging Killers those realms provide the perfect oportunities for dem mad jukes.

As Killer anything is fine except Midwich and Red Forest maps (I even like Haddonfield and perform rather well on it).

Isn't that what the Spirit is supposed to be? Haven't really gone over every little thing over the Spirits lore, but I'm certain the Spirit and The Grudge spirit are suppose to be the same thing.

They are very similar, Sadako, Kayako and Spirit are all onryos, spectres born from a dying person's desire for vengeance, their ire is not limited to the one at fault but to anyone who comes in contact with a cursed location or object related to said onryo.

You disturb the ghost you get cursed and fated to die by its wrath unless you appease it with rituals and stuff.

  • We already have Spirit who is clearly inspired from Sadako Yamamura and Kayako Saeki, this could end in a similar situation with Hillbilly and Leatherface.

  • @Cheers said:

    People are whining reasonably however.

What's the point of disabling your opponents perks that you can't capitalize on? You're basically sending them away for a free save that you can do nothing about.

I get both of the changes, they make sense because the game needs to be fun. The devs said it on I believe the Chains of Hate chapter Q&A. But nerfing a below average killer without giving a buff? That's really confusing.

BHVR is trying to move away from things that promote tunneling like the change to Dying Light, the way PH worked it benefited tunneling because it was extremely rewarding and very easy to do. You want to camp and tunnel? sure but at least we wont encourage you.

I believe BHVR were expecting people to see them as quicker hooks since people whine about losing time while hooking when finding 2 survivors, the community saw cages as bypasses for BT and DS so the gameplay shifted to that, an efficient and super easy way to camp and tunnel.

  • @LordRegal said:

I've shared my more detailed thoughts in a bunch of other threads, but I will say, for all the community's complaining about how "many" PH players played, I never encountered that once as a survivor, but I played against plenty of PHs in the days after the chapter dropped.

While I didnt play against a facecamping PH blocking the cage, I did play against a ton of PHs who beelined directly towards the cage right after it spawmed, usually getting there relatively fast ready to tunnel the caged guy.

  • @ThisGuuy83 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1404366#Comment_1404366

Actually it does, because if there's only 2 people left, camping IS a tactic, whether you like it or not. Just means now the cage is useless when it's 2v1. It would be reasonable if NO ONE could see the cage, or they compensated by removing the yellow gen from PH's perk, but, like op said, anything to please the survivor base.

In that scenario is actually better to hook instead of caging and camping in 2vs1 is the worst strategy you can follow if you want 4k since it leaves the other guy ample time and space to search for the hatch while you look at the hook.

  • @Kaethela said:

You still get to completely ignore BT and DS by caging. That's not nothing.

And the ability to hook someone in 2 seconds while ignoring flashlight or pallet saves, also allows to keep chasing a second survivor without the need to slug someone and risk he gets picked up.

  • Hardcore mode its in the game already, its called Solo queue.

Iri head + infantry belt and you are surprised people dont play?

People complain a lot and sometimes its their own damn fault, Im not surprised people prefer to suicide on hook against Iridiscent+Belt. Yesterday I had a Myers complaining he had a 4 minute match after a 15 minute queue, he was using a Tombstone Piece+Memorial as add-ons, noone suicided by the way.

  • He really doesnt fit DBD, Springtrap might be a murderer but he isnt a slasher film/game killer, DBD is not based on psychological horror films but on slasher films.

Same goes for the xenomorph, predator, It, Pinhead and a lot more, their movies are either psychological horror or action films with jumpscares, not slasher genre.

  • Aftercare/Bond are similar to Autodidact/Botany Knowledge.

One if stronger than the other but has requirements, if you dont met them they are very meh but when you do they are way better than their permanent weaker version.

It all comes down to what is going to be your playstyle for your next match, if you are going to gen jockey or baiting Bond is better, if you aim for altruistic style Aftercare is much much better.
