Either he was cheating using wallhacks or there was someone streaming on your team and he used it to snipe you.

Go to the nearest hook and wait there until you can be hooked.

I was kind of expecting something like "the lighting on most maps sucks (like that room in Garden of Joy)" or "it's nVidia filter XYZ," etc.
Didn't know it was an extreme offense - Makes me wonder what's going on with it, now, tbh.
I dont consider tweaking the light a little bit something very offensive but extreme filters like the one in the OP post are usually used to have better view of Survivors and/or the Killer, that stuff makes stealth impossible, a lot of people (myself included) compare them to cheating and from time to time streamers get called cheaters on chat for using them so they ban people instead of arguing or discussing why they are using them.
-
Why would I suffer Nurse for 10 minutes when I can suicide on hook and jump into the next match in 1 minute? At least in Europe Survivors dont have queues at evening (and lately even at night they are around 20 seconds only until its VERY late), faster to jump the boat and hop into the next match hoping is a fair one.
Just take your win and let me out, Im sure you deserve it a lot.
-
- Nurse is not healthy on the slightest, she breaks all the gameplay mechanics Survivors have to defend themselves while she enjoys all the gameplay mechanics given to Killers, she ignores loops, pallets, solid objects etc yet she can still see scratch marks, loud noises notifications, enjoys the same nonexistant amount of fog etc, the only way to fix her is either a total rework or force her to play with her own set of rules and even with the last Im not sure she would be fixed anyway.
- I believe she affects gameplay to an extent, Spirit and Freddy were weaker than Nurse and they forced 2 nerfs on Killers (Stridor and BT outside of TR nerfs).
- You should play wathever you like, Nurse does have a problem, once you are good enough game becomes pointlessly easy, unless your idea of having fun is stomping without effort Nurse will become boring fast, same as single player games become boring if you activate godmode cheats.

I think survivor players severely underplay the 75% sound reduction. This is still huge, but it now gives killers a fighting chance without totally crippeling one of their basic tools. With 75% sound reduction you can still hide in the bushes and got a decent chance to not be heared or to blind a killer and slip past them, but it now has a chance of failing. This chance of failing is not a "100% useless" thing, but making it much much fairer. I know that people in general want to see a pay off of their investments, and thats why DH is much more popular then Lithe, which is much more popular then Balanced Landing and Smash Hit etc. but IW gutted so much of the killer gameplay and made nearly every killer look like a bumbling fool, its good that its effectiveness got curbed down a bit.
Why not try it out instead of crying that its "100% useless now"? Have you tried it in the PTB? Have you been found out every single time you tried to hide? Whats your reasoning behind your hate for this change? Yes, I am a killer main, but I always try to be reasonable and play a lot of survivor nowadays.
I believe you underplay headsets, sure for people playing 10 meters away of the TV or people blasting music while they play 75% is going to be more than enough but for everyone who uses a 2€ headset 75% is nothing, you cant juke a headset using Killer with a 75% reduction in grunts which was the main thing IW provided.
Pair reduced efficacy with Exhaustion condition and this perk is rendered Red Herring level of uselessness.

I have fun with him, even if he isnt the strongest out there, I also believe there isnt much room for buffs because how his power works and how busted it could be if buffed in the wrong direction.

Yeah same here, I said not interested to that
It's unfair for people who can't buy stuff right away and creates an artifical 'worth' to an already expensive cosmetic (Licensed cosmetics are always expensive anyway)
Thats a marketing ploy known as "fear of missing out", its used a lot in multiplayer games, it sucks but sadly it wont go away for its one of the main drives behind people buying stuff.

Peculiar suggestion, I would be open to try it for 1 month and see what happens.

Couple of issues with your points are
survivor queue times are still long comparative to killer, this varies by time and region but generally so. This shows there is still a survivor bias in player population.
complaints piling up on the forums is a quasi form of survivorship bias. People predominately come here to complain, if you don’t have an issue with the game you probably aren’t here on the forums complaining about it. (survivorship bias is a genuine mathematical principle and has nothing to with playing survivor, just making this point for the dumblocks.)
Are dc’s and suicide on hook really going up or are players that do those things starting to get sorted into their respective mmr groups. If you rage quit all the time you probably don’t have a great mmr rating it only takes a few losses as survivor to wind up stuck with these kinds of players.
The new changes are a healthy shake up of the game, we’ll see how things change as a result. The sky isn’t falling.
The queues really depend a lot, in Europe at morning and evening Killers have queues almost always, they can go from 20 seconds to 7 minutes, usually around 2-3 or so, and this is after they made the change to matchmaking where they broadened the pool of players which made queues shorter, queues for Killers start to go away around ~21:30.
And the changes... Ive seen the PTB videos, from Killer perspective stacking endurance is a pain to deal with and SWFs are going to mow down a lot of average players, from Survivor side, have you seen the videos where a Wraith was able to regress gens over and over and over? Solo is going to get smashed, then you have all the changes on already busted Killers like Nurse or Blight.
If they dont dial back on certain stuff this patch could be the first nail in the coffin, I dont think Solos will endure the new forever matches meta for a lot of time and then its going to be queues for Killers only to face SWFs who will stack endurance and curbstomp them, this could spiral into people quitting for greener pastures.

If you say you're able to insert yourself into the killers head, but then make it about you, I'm going right back to my last response: It's not about you.
Plenty of alternatives have been offered, BHVR just hasn't seen fit to make those alternatives a reality. Like I said, this is not a new topic.
Edit: You highlighted all the changes to the killer side and not the survivor side, there is a very real possibility that OTR plays so strongly that killers feel they still need to camp, in spite of the gen and DH nerfs.
If I can perform well enough to not need camping to win with allegedly weaker Killers, everyone can, Im not a godly player, obviusly sometimes I lose and get 4E but 99% of times it was because I made too many mistakes, almost never the Survivor strategy or the map leaves camping as the last resort unless its EGC or they are fluttering around the hook, if someone comes to that conclussion on normal gameplay either they are bad and refuse to instrospect on their mistakes or deep down, they enjoy the easy wins.
The alternatives a lot of people have offered are what they have implemented, minipop, stronger regression, increased gen times and easier chases, its what gets suggested almost always in those threads (im yet to see someone except myself suggesting the Home Sweet Home treatment for downs, with tweaks of course), now lets see if they really wanted alternatives or camping made stronger.
I highlighted Killer changes because its what the people demanded to stop camping, the Survivor changes are not really related and they are there as a soft deterrant for camping, I doubt theyll have any effect for the Killer base buffs outperform the anticamping base nerfs.

Are you able to insert yourself into the killers head to understand? Some may be trolls, others had several bad games in a row and now they're at their wits end on maps like Eeyre, Badham Preschool, and Mothers Dwelling.
I think it takes quite an ego to assume all these incidents of facecamping aren't just part-time killers without the proper toolset and long-time killers not burnt out from W'ing over and over across gigantic maps. But just like you have a different experience as killer, I would say it's not about you.
Of course Im able to insert into the Killers head, I play Killer too, lately Ive been playing it even more than Survivor because Solo is hell and I dont have any friends playing this game to make a SWF, I play Myers, Jigsaw and Deathslinger, Im perfectly aware you get Mother's Dwelling you are in for a world of hurt but guess what? I still dont camp because I dont dont enjoy it, I still perform well enough tho.
I still believe people who defend camping as "ITS THE ONLY WAY!!!" without really offering any alternatives are not going to stop doing it and they actually enjoy it, mainly because it gives them wins, there is a player profile "Spike" who gets gratification only when they win no matter what, those are the people who tend to chose the path of less resistance, Spikes wont stop camping until camping is less rewarding, they enjoy it because it gives them easy wins against Solos.
The new changes just made it even more rewarding since Survivors now need more time to fix the gens so camping will be stronger ergo those folks will camp even harder. Lets see if all those threads about "ITS THE ONLY WAY, GIVE US BETTER TOOLS, MAKE MINI-POP BASE, MAKE REGRESSION STRONGER, MAKE CHASES EASIER, NERF DH FOR DISTANCE" were people speaking the truth or just people lying to justify themselves.
P.D. Feel free to throw this whole conversation into my face in a few months (assuming Im still playing this game), I will gladly eat my words.

Defending camping and enjoying it are two completely different things. Camping creates pressure when other tools fail, because it forces survivors to come to the killer - it does not mean it is enjoyable.
Edit: You are also picking and choosing arguments. There are plenty of threads where people justified camping and explained what they would need to no longer camp. This "people who reason its the only way to play dont even care to ask for fixes" is utterly false. There are a littany of threads that contradict you.
Its not defending it, its they way people defend it, as I said, I understand doing it in certain circumstances like EGC or 1 person hooked, 3 fluttering around the hook, I wouldnt criticize camping there, but when people defend doing it from minute 0? thats because they are enjoying it, you dont need to camp to win especially not against Solos, I dont camp, I win plenty of matches and I play Myers mostly yet they defend its the only way.
The whole "I wouldnt camp if I didnt have too..." argument is a bit moot, people lie a lot and while there are threads like those they usually end up swarmed by the "camping is the only way!!" crowd, the ones who dont really want to change it but they feel like they have to justify themselves.
Lets see after the base change mechanics like extra 10 seconds per gen, less CD after extra attack, less sprint after being hit if the people keep camping or not, my guess is the vast majority of campers will still camp, I wish I was wrong but the community has shown plenty of times they will always go through the path of less resistance and camping being made stronger will justify it even more.

I could only give you my personal feelings on the matter, because unlike OP I do not speak for an entire swathe of the community, but as a competitive player face camping is a last resort that means the combination of map/survivor strategy left me with no other options. I'd much rather actually play the game.
Sadly thats not the mindset of the majority. Just look at this forum, how many people defend camping?
I understand camping during EGC because there isnt much to do but when people defend camping and tunneling outside of very concise situations its because they are enjoying it, I play Killer too and I dont like camping so I almost never do it, I would never defend camping as a valid general strategy because I dislike it, people who reason its the only way to play dont even care to ask for fixes, they always defend how much of a valid strategy it is, not how in dire need of changes the system is.

Yes. The Meta for Killers will still be 4 Slowdowns - just different Slowdowns.
Thana alone pushes a Gen to 110 seconds against Legion. And this is without any time spent on Mending or other Slowdowns. Games will be dragged out a lot against Legion, even more than they are currently dragged out.
They wont drag a lot if you spam fast actions on a locker and suicide on first hook the moment you hear their TR theme.

Doesn't it not consume another token until the 10 seconds of blocking have passed? So you are already halfway back to another token if you stay in the terror radius (for EWII anyways. You won't be getting tokens back against a Scratched Mirror Myers).
I havent tried it but I assume it only charges out of chase, same as other perks, if someone can confirm/deny it would be great, and yes, you can only eat another charge after 10 seconds have elapsed but if you are in a chase he only needs to stalk you for 1 second again to trigger another one, as I said, the effect of Distortion is good, its just 3/4 charges are too little for how easy is to lose them outside of BBQ procs, even if you can regain 1 every 30 seconds you are in TR.
Also there is the thing if you are not using any aura reading Distortion is useless, one of the things that make meta perks so good right now is how reliable they are, IW, Spine Chill, DH/SB etc are always there, you will get value out of them almost always, while nonmeta perks tend to be niche, sometimes you dont get to use them or they need conditions sometimes you cant get etc.

@Aneurysm said:
Ok I haven't used it as survivor, but I did a semi-aura build on plague just now. Lethal persuer, black incense (see auras when they vomit) and a brown one (see auras when they cleanse)
One survivor had distortion and I legit did not see her aura once. So idk if she'd been following me around the map or what but she got some value from it
That build is not so great for aura reading unless you puke on him from second 1, Lethal consumes 1 token and thats it, if you puked on him the stacks would be chomped on less than 20 seconds, you cant regain them that fast to overcome the nonstop vomit reveal, which is the problem with Distortion, the effect is great but we are so used to only having to deal with BBQ than we forget how fast other aura reveal things trigger.
Myers with the "Reveal aura at EW1/EW2" can eat the 4 stacks in no time and it isnt the only thing, Undying, Darkness Revealed, Nurse's Calling etc.

You're not entitled for people to play in a way that's fun for you, true... but I do think you're entitled to people actually trying to play the game. Being downstairs making a sandwich is not a valid playstyle.
People camped for 2 minutes on a hook or bleed for 4 minutes are also trying to play the game but they are not entitled to it either, it goes both ways, take your free wins and enjoy them.
Im not defending the act of going AFK but seeing people complaining others wont play when half the playerbase defends forfeiting the right to play is not only a valid strategy but the way to go...

Yea but I still have good hearing and stopped using Iron will while ago. Never had so many pallet stuns out of power like with nerfed Spirit.
Unless she becomes super popular like Nurse and will be seen almost every second game, I dont really mind
Odds are the EZ-modo sweat-a-lot crowd will swarm to Spirit the same way the swarmed to her before and others like Forever Freddie or mass lunge Wraith, I believe there will be a surge of Spirits after IW gets destroyed.
I believe its because they didnt expect Blight to be so strong, Im willing to bet if they knew he would be the powerhouse he is they wouldnt have released him this way.

That was an achievement unlocker, some people use them and while they are not a guarantee of the person using cheats is usually suspicious enough to dodge.
You can report it to Steam, if they used an achievement unlocker most achievements should be unlocked the same day at the same hour, they may not do anything but reporting on steam takes like 30 seconds so better safe than sorry.

You know thats going to change after the patch, right? you will have 2 gens fixed instead of 3.

I don't think they themselves play the game enough to get camped and tunneled to the extent that people know, so at this point I don't know what they are doing anymore.
They keep saying that they value new players, yet Camping and Tunneling occurs from the BEGINNING. Meaning that someone who just bought the game who has no clue how to attempt to run a loop is screwed because they have no BT or DS perks. Yet the killer has accessibility to those playstyles from the start.
I truly don't believe they know how easy it is to camp. Meaning it requires 0 skill.
What if the developers themselves are the ones who rely on camping when playing Killer? because thats the conclusion Ive reached yesterday.

Imagine having a survivor like Patrick Bateman-- a guy you'd think would be a killer, evil enough to be a killer, but deemed by the Entity not important enough to be one and instead relegated to be more meat for the trials.
Nah Bateman is a whimp who likes to imagine himself being a serial Killer while in reality he is just a loser who cant even get a table at Dorsia.
-
That happens with a lot of Killers shadows since the model you "see" and is used for the animations in first person is not the model the Survivors see moving around, the game has 2 models for each Killer, you can notice it with other stuff, Leatherface for example has his chainsaw on the left hand and his hammer on the right one but the model the Survivors see he has both hands gripping the chainsaw and the hammer on his right at the same time he grips the chainsaw brake.
Myers, Hag and Trapper have this same wiggling shadow while Trickster, Jigsaw and Deathslinger have static shadows which barely move no matter what you do. Its not exactly a bug but more of a coding mistake on how the shadows are created.

Noed carries so hard you can tell when someone is running it by how bad they are. Pretty funny how obvious it is. Don't need to learn how to play killer to get 1-2 kills with noed.
Pretty much this, also if the perks the Killer is using dont make any sense and you cant pinpoint all of them the 4º is NOED almost always, like Wraith with Agitation, Overcharge and some random Hex which wasnt Ruin, does the build make any sense to you? neither to me so lets slap NOED there for some good ol' carrying when the fifth gen gets finished.
-
If you go to a gen they cant use their exhaustion perks until they walk for 5 seconds, which they may not be able to achieve without getting hit first.
-
There are Killers who bottleneck certain things, do people really think Spirit wasnt responsible for Stridor nerf? A perk which benefited nobody, was crappy on every Killer except on Spirit which made her busted and impossible to face. Freddy for BT outside of TR?.
-
I believe the changes they are doing are aimed at pleasing the huge chunk of bad Killers who get stomped by SWFs and then feel miserable, they aim to balance their sad experience of getting dabbed by SWF by giving them lambs to freely slaughter so they can feel happy again.
Same as other games like Dota2 where the system pairs you against great players so they can massacre you and feel good but then it pairs you against bad players so you smash them and then its your turn to feel good, a never ending cycle of highs and downs.
My prediction is Solo games will look like Berserk's eclipse.
-
Its almost universally a pointless match, if its a good Nurse there is nothing to do, we may aswell spam fast actions and let her hook us so we can go into another match and if its a bad Nurse then there is nothing to do, its a 4E with 2 hooks at most.

Exactly. I can get behind the Vault Speed-Nerf. But the rest...eh. Not so much.
In reality, they just nerfed Spine Chill to remove it from the Meta. This is their only reason.
Sad that the company which already has some history with lack of accessibility decides to make the game harder for people with hearing loss.
Completely agree, Spine Chill could have been nerfed by adding a timer on it, like you have 10 seconds of Spine Chill then it goes into CD for 30 or something like that, this way the perk could still be useful albeit weaker. The way they nerfed it to the absolute ground is to remove it from the meta entirely, same as Iron Will.

@Laluzi said:
Like, I agree that Nurse getting to use Exposed effects is generally too strong, but you're wrong on so many other levels that I can't agree with you on principle. If Nurse was as easy to use as you say, she wouldn't have the lowest killrate in the game despite her obvious power. Removing killers is a horrible idea. And for the last time, stop DCing against killers you don't like.
Nurse is not that hard to play, Hillbilly, Blight or Deathslinger are harder, the problem with her is either you get all or you get nothing, there is no in between, those 3 can still down people because they move at 115/110% speed so even a very inexperienced player who cant use their powers can still get something done as a basic M1 Killer, a bad Nurse cant really do anything because she just cant catch up to the Survivors until BL (which will lose after she tries to blink), thats why her kill ratio is low, because if you suck its a 4E almost always, while the others, if you suck you can at least get some downs and even some kills, but learning the blinks and landing them is easier than Blight or Hilbilly powers or using Deathslinger proficiently.
Onto the thread, if you get that kind of Nurse just go to a locker, spawn fast actions and just let her grab you, suicide and hop onto the next match, its better than eating a DC penalty.

Your opponent is just bad, that's the truth.
I actually think the skill problem may be at their end not at mine, its not like a lot of Killer streamers manage to get downs before the second gen pops and on the Survivor side you rarely see streamers getting 3 gens before someone gets downed but sure, I bet people at this forum have some kind of bug who pairs them against the strongests 4 people SWFs nonstop, every day, all day, they were bad on their previous life and their punishment is to face the SWATs on DBD for eternity.

You're getting lucky with survivors who like chases more than doing gens but ACTUALLY in PRACTICE you're completely wrong and he's right. You can't just be "playing the game wrong" when 1 or 2 people are dedicated genrushers.
1 or 2 dedicated genrushers get 1 gen each in around 95 seconds on average not 3 like people love to claim, 85 if they get lucky and spawn very close to a gen which is extremely rare, but as I said, if you dont get a down sooner than that it may be a you problem, once in a while of course it can happen, as a per match basis? Ill repeat myself, Im not buying it, its not the norm and I play both sides of the game.
-
They are not buffing stealth, they are actually destroying it, with IW and Spine Chill nerfs stealth is going to be much harder than ever, Lightweight buff cant make up for losing those 2.
Distortion buff is nothign of note as lockers exist for BBQ and the rest of aura reading stuff chomps the charges too fast, if you get charges only out of chase I dont think youll get more than 2 or 3 in an entire match.
@Ayamir said:
Not to be rude or anything but how can you enjoy being stealthy don't you find it boring to hide from the killer all game and just do gens ?

Take in consideration that only picking up a survivor (after you clean your weapon) and going to a hook might take 15 seconds, and then you have to travel to the next gen which can take another 10 or 15. So lets say the chase should be less than 50 if you want to interrupt something.
Now take also in consideration that for a lot of M1 Killers dead hard extends the chase without having no counterplay. If you have the bad luck to find first the good survivor (or the best one of them), its quite normal to lose 3 gens in the first chase.
I sometimes down a survivor really quick with lethal pursuer, like in 15-20 seconds, and still I lose a gen in the process.
In anycase, devs already said that the gens go too fast, and this is something that has been a debate for years but has been proven right. For all players that have enough experience and the game and are not based, it is a hard truth that gens were too fast for the game to be healthy and fun.
Its not, I play Myers, Jigsaw and Deathslinger, I dont lose 3 gens in the first chase on a per match trials, sometimes it happens? yes it does, but its rare, like really rare and Ill repeat myself, it is happening to anyone on a common basis they are doing something wrong, its like saying its normal for a Survivor to go down in 15 seconds of normal gameplay, its not normal, sometimes its happens? sure it does but if you are a Survivor and cant last more than 15 seconds on more than half your chases you are doing something wrong.
I also play Solo, sometimes we fix 3 gens before the first down? yes, sometimes it happens, but same as Killer, its not the norm, it doesnt happen many times, it may happen once every 10/15 games at most and is usually because the MMR did something weird.
Now, you can tell me Killer is miserable, gens fly, maps are bigger than Asia, DH, DS, flashlights nonstop or wathever the current narrative is, Im not buying most Killers lose 3 gens by the time they get their first down, sorry but Im not buying it, especially not against Solos which make almost 50% of the playerbase either people lie about the gens or they lie themselves about their skill.

If 3 gens does not pop in first chase, the truth is, survivors are doing something wrong.
It should pop due to the way this game works.
No if you can down a Survivor in less than 80 seconds.

The problem is, there'll be only one other anti-tunnel perk, and it's going to blow DS out of the water with the cut-down stun. OTR will activate off both unhooks, last longer, and work during EGC.
DS was meta because it was the -only- anti-tunnel perk, so nerfing it to incentivise other anti-tunnel perks makes no sense.
They could leave DS untouched and new OTR would outclass it anyway, not only does all what you say but also getting hit not only means you dont get slugged but also you get a speed increase.
I foresee first iteration DS levels of use (which Im willing to bet it was even higher than 75% DH use on high MMR).
