It's an add on that disables perks. On killer side you don't know if they even have an exhaustion perk so it can feel like a waste of time, and on survivor side if you notice you have the debuff you just play like you already used it.
It's...okay I guess?

This is a horror game?
My first game was me playing the Trapper and I stepped in my own trap on accident and laughed.

Wasn't She over 100% ms as well when she first came to the game?
I don't remember since I was fiddling around with Trapper/Dwight at the time and wasn't into her, so I'm gonna say maybe?
-
If you're enjoying it I'm rootin' for ya.
I'm too shy to do something like that.
-
For the record Garfield would make a great killer.
I'm sorry Jon...I have to do it.
-
I play on the east coast and my queue times since crossplay have been pretty quick on both sides. If one side seems slow, usually the other side is lacking players so consider playing the other role to spice things up!
-
It's not a made up language. I remember people saying it's Babylonian iirc.
If I had to guess it's something akin to asking if this sacrifice pleases her god, and then she vomits all over them.
-
I've run into a lot of good players this year both killer and survivor side, so it's hard to really single them out since I play at high ranks and see a lot of them.
I will say though as a Trapper main I'm counting on those great survivors to run loops optimally without regard to my traps, so I appreciate them all dearly.
-
Bodyblock the pallet. Stand where the pallet is and ring your bell and hit them.
Alternatively just stand on top of them and ring your bell on their head and then smack them.
You're mindgaming yourself.
-
It's pretty great honestly. You won't get stuck up there with the really strong players like I do.
I get tossed into purple for like 5 games on both sides nowadays. Enjoy the easy ranks while you can!
-
I'm a Trapper main. I play all the killers on rotation but when I need something done with a specific perk or you absolutely must die this round, I'm bringing out my Trapper with the best add ons and you're gonna be in for a wild ride.
He's not the strongest, but I know survivors loops. I know where you're going to go. You'd better be ready.
-
I've been playing near the start but was too lazy to try for legacy. So I have every DLC so whatever that comes up to. Really I just take some money out of my quarterly dividends from stock and use it so the money isn't really coming out of my budget.
I also got Susie's outfit because she's the legion character I wanted to play as. I haven't really seen "that cosmetic" that would make me want to use it for the rest of my time playing on that character besides the Susie skin but I'm sure it'll come.

Eww Facebook and Twitter. No sane person uses those anymore.
Just stop struggling on hook if you don't like that particular match. It's that way by design.

A g-g-game where I can be a h-helpless victim while the big strong k-killer t-towers over me...? I'll buy 20.
-The DbD community.
-
You'll get better at the game faster if you just pretend the hooked person doesn't exist and focus on other objectives and start another chase. If survivors see you hovering around a hook they'll finish their gen before coming to help the hooked survivor. If they know you'll leave they'll abandon their generator and rush in for a save...and they don't always go back to the generator they abandoned.
It also takes a little bit of time for the hooked survivor to get healed. Once you know the amount of time it takes for a survivor to be healed by one person vs. two, you can figure out how many people went for the save. If three are in the same spot, they'll go to nearby generators.
The hook when it comes down to it is all about information. Either the survivors will get information on your location if you stay there, or you'll get information by watching and seeing how long it takes them to heal. You can really get a good game sense of what's going on that way.

It's fine. You can make any perk in this game work (or run perkless) and be a success. I'm personally fond of Visionary because when it's late game you can fish out generators that the killer isn't guarding that you'd miss otherwise, especially on an indoor map.
To me if I was in a game with you I would assume you'd be running perkless because from the outside looking in, you have no perks that can alter the game (borrowed time, dead hard, even self care etc) and with experience you'll kind of have an idea on where the vaults/your team currently are. By no stretch of the imagination does it mean that build is bad, I'm just putting my two cents in.
-
Nurse is a shell of her former self. She used to have three blinks as default and just got absurd with add ons, plus she's buggy. On the swamp maps you can't even blink onto the piers right now and on more than one occasion I've blinked into the basement while chasing someone. She needs help.
Spirit didn't have collision when phasing and iirc Deathslinger hasn't been changed. As more people play them, people will get better at dealing with those two killers.
In days of old you used to only see Nurse and Hillbilly at high ranks and maybe the occasional Trapper. Nowadays you don't see Nurse, so people just forget she exists.

I mean, if you think about it Ruin/Undying is just normal ruin but your team can't find the ruin totem. Just power through it and be aggressive on gens and they're down to 2 perks without touching a single totem.
I think people would benefit from running Repressed Alliance if they need to go for a save or something. It might just be time to adjust the survivor meta.
...you'll never get survivors to work on totems! NEVER! AHAHAHAHAHA

My noob moment still occurs sometimes despite my playtime. When I'm playing killer and I try to mind game someone it sometimes backfires. Sometimes when a survivor runs behind a wall near a pallet loop I walk backwards to try to catch them off guard. It turns out that survivor just kept running away. When I try to mind game sometimes the survivor doesn't even attempt to loop and just keeps running. This ends up giving them more distance because I thought they were looping.
Don't feel bad, survivors doing that is how I recommend to beat a red rank spirit since Spirits expect mindgames from high rank players. They'll start a phase and go to where they expect you to be, but no. You rank 20'd them and are on the other side of the map now. Commence self care in the corner. Easy win.

I didn't know how to fast vault for the longest time. And at this time I mostly played Feng Min, who has a perk that requires you to fast vault.
I'm also fairly certain I committed to chases way too much.
I had to change my fast vault in the options to 'R' because my character would just waddle over the vault otherwise because everything was bound to space bar. That one got me downed a few times.

I'm younger than ages stated so far in this thread. 🌈
Personally I feel like younger people play this game more than older folks...but I don't know what I'm basing my opinion on...just a feeling...
You're not wrong. I've yet to finish a rift. I only get to around level 55 or so each time lol

I'm 34, and most of the streamers/youtubers you see look like they run from majority 20's to a few 30's.
The way I see it, the horror icons are from older movies from the 80s, Myers is going to appeal to people that are now adults, and the horror genre hasn't come out with anything new as far as I can tell.
That said, Dead by Daylight is popular, I see v tubers playing games of Dead by Daylight and then popping over to Minecraft. We've got...a lot of youngin's runnin' around. Yes the game is 18+ but has the ESRB rating or the websites that make you say your age ever stopped a young teen? No.
Also every other forum for this game I go to is in love with Susie, Pig and Feng. Hormones run amok with this game.
-
My favorites are Dwight and Trapper...I started with them and I just think they're neat. (Plus I'm pretty darn good with them.)
I'll be honest I don't think I was the game's intended audience. I think the only horror movie I've ever seen was The Ring but I was multitasking during it. The game was just new and I bought this one along side Skyrim and Fallout 4 and I liked that you could play in 10-20 minute spurts and then do other things.
-
Here is how to get the red devout emblem. It is a tricky one when you're a young murderer, but let me throw in some tips.
You must find a survivor and hook him. The trick here is to not spend 3 generators chasing the same one in the process. Now, when that survivor is hooked, you must forget they exist. Does a survivor come and unhook them quickly? Doesn't matter. They are no longer in your mind. You are back on the hunt.
The hook is a place of failure, and if you linger, you too shall fail. Leaving them on the ground is not a hook. You must place them on the hook. That is how you do this deed.
Repeat until they are all dead. Stay mobile. Stay away from the hook. You will succeed.
-
Wholesome.
-
When I started I used to be chase-averse and urban evasion used to be called urban immersion because people would stay off gens and just hide while crouch walking across the map. I was one of those people when I was new.
I did not understand why people would make fun of me in post game chat. Surviving is important right?
Why are my blood points lower than everyone elses?
Oh.
-
Nah. I'm an author not a streamer. I've never gotten into video editing.

I see. Thanks once again! I was a little scared this community was toxic, (my friend told me it was very toxic) but I’m grateful for all the help!
The community is fine. What people are talking about when they say toxicity is this game attracts sore losers when you beat them after the game to the point they'll message you and stuff. Just set your profile to private and it's a non issue.

I appreciate it! Do you have a suggestion as for a killer to try and work on locating survivors with? I have all base killers and huntress.
You've got two choices, because over time you'll see a lot of survivors hide in the same places regardless of if you're killer or survivor. If you're playing with Dwight's perk Bond you'll be able to see what your teammates are doing, and I recommend keeping notes on where they hide on the map. When you're killer it'll give you an idea of what the survivors are going to do.
As killer, Wraith is the absolute best at fishing out survivors for two reasons. One, they'll see you and start running, which means they fish themselves out and two they won't see you and you'll see where they were hiding and you'll learn that location for later. Oh hey survivors hide there.
Once you learn what routes survivors take during chases, I find a lot of fun with Trapper (my main btw) but he requires map knowledge. However once you have that they've released a LOT of killers and because not many people play Trapper anymore, survivors new to the game have no idea how to handle his traps.
Hillbilly, Nurse and Huntress are VERY strong killers, but they play differently from the basic killers and you'll have to spend time learning these killer's specific kits.
-
No problem. I will say while I hope you enjoy Doctor, it might be worth playing other killers and learn how to locate survivors without the static blast. It will help you a lot down the road.
-
Edit: For Survivor, it's just experience. Play the tutorial, get the basics down. Die a lot, learn the maps as you go and find that you're not dying as much. Get bloodpoints, get better perks. (I recommend Bond from Dwight, Quick and Quiet from Meg, Self Care from Claudette, and Iron Will from Jake to start)

Dance with oh god why:
When vaulting a window your survivor ragdolls everywhere for the next minute.
Walls of Opportunity and Zanshin Wall Painting:
Everything in the map except for Vaults and pallets are highlighted in yellow the entire match
Dear Stalker:
You can now write love notes to your survivors. They shouldn't be so shy! (You just wanna ax them a few questions.)
Technician:
On a missed skill check you lose even more generator progress, but it'll be silent.
Iron Will:
You tense up so badly trying to hide your pain you occasionally fart.

I know for a fact they take some of my suggestions that I've made on this forum and on the Steam forum, which is kinda funny because I came to this forum to troll and expected to be banana'd but I somehow have almost twice as many upvotes as I do comments.
You guys probably wouldn't like it if I really dragged them down the rabbit hole though. I mix a lot of humor with horror. You'd get Midwich elementary atmosphere and pallets that when dropped/broken release viscera/rot/maggots, or breakable walls that go nowhere (like a closet) but just have a hope drained corpse flop out of it.
Thing is, a lot of the maps this game has...are practical. You have your loops, your landmarks, etc. but it all serves a purpose in one way or another.
With ideas like mine you can enter the telephone booth.
-
Run the brown add on Shattered Monocle until you've got the game sense to know where you'll land. It helped me out a lot at first.
You're still a standard speed killer, so you don't have to try some 400IQ lethal rush play just to win. If you're not feeling confident, just don't rush. That said, Blight's power is central to his character. The more you rush, the more comfortable you'll get using it.
Some players have figured out how to cut survivors off in loops with Blight's power. It can be done. In my personal casual experience with Blight I like to bump into a wall with my right or left shoulder, then dash at them until I catch up and down them. It's really simple and a hit is a hit.
You'll grow on your own, but don't beat your head against a wall if you fail a few times. That's Blight's job.
-
It has been over an hour and nobody has said anything. Hope you brought a deck of cards or something to pass the time.
Generally as long as one survivor is free and can do gens, the "correct" way is to wait for them to open the exit gates and die to the Entity.
If all survivors are trapped then you just have to hit escape, leave the match and on the scoreboard next to the killers name click on the thumbs up/thumbs down and report him. Ya ain't supposed to do that.
-
Congratulations!
I've done it a few times now, and I think one of my favorites was against a streamer on one of the MacMillan maps. I strolled up on three of them doing a generator and one of them spotted and pointed at me right?
...I tapped a on the keyboard until I was hidden again, and then peeked out to stalk. They thought I was memeing, and this was back when the hatch would not spawn if not enough gens were done.
Doom.

I know it's hard online since you don't have much to work with, but you need to be able to read a room before you start handing out advice.
I'm using crossplay so there's much fewer people to talk to than there is if you only use PC players, but sometimes players may not understand how you shoved your boot that far up their bum and will happily allow you to help them understand better.
Sometimes someone's upset and will be mean no matter what you say or do. gg to them doesn't mean good game, it means git gud.

Let them put poison on their knives.

The kitty cade speaks truth. You did not tunnel if you wanted to win.

I never run into borrowed time or decisive as a killer. I like keeping everyone injured and if you're already injured you're not likely to be my priority. I may knock you down if you potato on me though.
