Auto aim doesnt exist anymore. However, hit detection is another thing that fits more with your description.
Whenever the killer's hitbox touches a survivor's hitbox the hit detection will end the lunge and will make the hit animation that makes the hit connect, that's why sometimes survivors do a little twist right in front of you and your lunge ends without hitting them, that animation delay messes up your hit. Also, the hit detection will end the lunge with the first hitbox your lunge finds in it's way, making bodyblock very powerful.
I think there should be a way to turn it off so that whenever you have 2 survivors next to each other you can choose who to hit.

You said sluging and counting to 60 was a counter to DS abuse and its clearly not so you're trying to walk that back.
You dont just randomly down someone and leave them on the ground for no reason, that's stupid. You slug when you know where another survivor is and you can down them. Guess what, if you let the unhooked go and head after the rescuer, get DS'd and then down them again, you wont have clue where the other survivors are unless they want you to know or they are bad at the game. Especially because the abuse of using DS for a free save on the rescuer is commonly done by SWF so they know where everyone is and wont lead the killer into their team.
Slugging works even if you don’t know exactly where someone is.

@Mister_xD actually killers can use (on pc) alt+f4 to close out of it and deny bp. On PS4 closing the application and on XBOX1 the quit option on the home screen.
