Yeah, some of us want to be able to play killers we actualy like and at least have a chance to do well, instead of getting rofflestomped because we play weak killers. Some of us don't want to just win, some of us want to enjoy that, and not everyone enjoys billy/nurse. Thats all. I personally would love for Pig and Legion to at least be competitive.
I’m a console nurse player and I don’t always win. I play for fun and fun is subjective.
-
So, don’t play certain killers because you don’t think they are apart of the games balance?

I don't know how you got that impression with what I typed.
I said play a few games with non top tier killers, and then you will see why the game is survivor favored.
Having one, two or three killers be viable out of 15 (and soon 16) does not make the game killer favored at all.

Basically:
Nurse is slightly OP (with omega blink she's solidly OP) AKA S tier
Sprit/Billy/Hag are solidly balanced, A tier
Myers, plague and Huntress are borderline balanced (Still UP, but just strong enough to be viable), B tiers
Everyone else is underpowered to varying degrees.
Regarding the plague:
Yes I know that you can deny her corrupt by just not cleansing. But if you do that then that makes your whole team a 1 hit down that is projecting their location at all times. While that isn't top tier, it is strong enough to work with. Myers has a similar effect with his tier 3 but it's harder to set up and doesn't last forever, he has his stealth to make up for that fact however so he's still high tier.
Plus you can run thanatiphobia to instantly get like 16% slower gen progress on all 4 survivors just incase they play like that.
I’d say nurse is fine without add-ons, you’re right about the other killers.

43% escape rate means usually 2 escape and 2 die, doesnt it?
now, we are talking about rank 1 here, so a 2k usually means a depip - safepip for the killer, which is why a lot of people consider this a loss. (i blackpip with 4k's, and thats only rank 5)
but what many think about when talking about winning / losing is how much fun they had during the game. and for killers thats usually not too much. rank 1 is extremely stressfull for killers: a single mistake can cost you your game, while survivors have second chances over second chances. they screw up and get to deadhard out of the danger, or they MoM tank your hit or they get BT for being farmed, etc. fail one chase as the killer however and you will see how hard it is to recover. one missed swing can allow them to continue the loop once more, which can be the difference between weather they do repair a gen or not before you can reach it after hooking the guy.
also, extremely long loops where you dont even stand the chance to catch up (thinking of Haddonfield here) feel extremely cheap and just like bad gamedesign, that favors the survivors.
or gen times. without ruin its basically impossible to build any gen pressure (not impossible, but very hard). as an example: ive played Trapper a couple of days ago. in the time i set 3 traps, they have done a gen. 3 freakin traps. thats nothing!
and for the sake of solo survivors (like me) i will not even bring SWF up... a coordinated team is literally unbeatable for anything below a godlike nurse.
thats also what many mean with "just play killer for a bit and you will find out". they are referring to exactly those situations, where you just feel powerless. granted, thats not always the case, but it does happe. and believe me: the pain the killer players need to go through to achieve said 2 kills is a lot more than the survivors for repairing 5 gens and opening a gate.
i hope that clarifies it a little more for you ^^
have a nice day!
I myself find blinking around with Nurse fun, even if I lose. I’ve never been one to deny the gen rush problem, survivors need a second objective. Believe I play both sides and experienced death squads I understand the swf (death squad)problem.
have a nice day. :)

Play a few games as Killer in Rank 1 without using the most broken stuff and isn't Nurse/Billy/Spirit and then you can come back and tell us why the game is survivor favored.
Wait, so you’re saying that people shouldn’t play top tier killers? K.

Mods will never catch me!

I was celebrating 666 downvotes recently. :P

Because rank 1 Killers play Nurse/Billy/Spirit/Hag.
That and there isn't really a well defined win condition.
Nurse is 22.2% of games.

We still don’t know exactly how much the R2 survival rate is and the R1 43% stat is after they fixed the ranking.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/66923/if-this-game-is-survivor-favored-then-why
Let's say that is true that means that rank 2 has a higher survival rate than 60% and that's a huge problem. But to your question, once you go rank 1 you have nothing to do there so you play more relax start troll a little more and because you know you can go rank 1 any time you want. Those stats are not correctly or rather are incomplete we need kills per rank and per game to see if this is true or not. And don't forget they ask the number for those things they don't collect the stats they self.
Where are you getting 60% at?

@Judith said:
When you play killer how many times do you encounter cocky survivors who are not trying to hide, do objectives and think they can just loop you like their favorite streamer? How many people dc, suicide on hook or do unsafe unhooks?
In my opinion the only reason escape rate is not higher in general is because too many survivors mess around doing nothing. Killers don't have that luxury.
I see all of these occasionally but not on a common basis.
-
@ad19970 said:
One problem with these statistics though is that if only one survivor dc's it pretty much screws over every other survivor in the team as well. Those are two or three survivors who didn't escape because someone dc'd, and that isn't representive of the game's balance.
And as far as I know, dc's seem to be quite common.
@Tensor said:
Remove SWF. Fixed.
I don’t think that is why the survival rate is below 50%.(response to ad19970s comment)
The problem with removing swf is that friends would just dodge till they all got paired.(response to Tensor)

Honestly...
The game is swf favoured,Imo.
Solo surv is not favoured due to braindead teammates.
That is a fair point, although a lot of swf are potatoes.

Why are people mad over unbreakable being buffed?

Stats mean nothing man, there's multiple factors
Players: We need stats to determine what side needs love!
Also players: “Stats mean nothing.”

I think the corn is fine, I main nurse but I’ve played as legion, pig and Freddy on it.

What if aliens walk on Earth with us? You’re welcome. ;)

My nurse doesn’t think they have it easy. ;)

Rule “105” is dumb since you often have no control over that bug.(Rarely happens now though)

I would run out of breath within five seconds of the chase. I would die quickly.

It doesn't matter if you've never played them. The point I'm making is that characters deemed as "stepping stone" and "beginner" characters can completely be viable competitively, if they are designed well. Trapper is not designed well. I read your original comment, don't make a stupid argument like that. Your stance that some need to "remain stepping stones" is pretty underwhelming and shows you don't really understand game design.
If you've never played any competitive games like this, then I have reason to believe you do NOT fully understand the nuances of balancing a game for competitive play.
This is the problem hypocrisy you are presenting. You are claiming Trapper is a stepping stone, but he's actually super difficult to win with unless the Survivors are absolutely braindead. That is simply bad game design. It is bad design if, no matter how well a player performs, they are utterly stacked from winning based on the fact their character is designed to be bad intentionally. A character that is a "stepping stone" should actually be EASIER to play and easier to win with because of that. A "stepping stone" character actually should be close to overpowered for it to truly help new players. A bad character isn't going to teach people how to play, it's going to make them quit the game.
To answer your question, it isn't my job to decide how Trapper should be balanced, it's my job to relay to the devs that in his current state, Trapper is not a worthy character. It shouldn't be up to the community to figure out how to balance the game. That shows a clear lack of functional game design from the developer at the most fundamental level.
With that said, you still ignored the fact that Ryu is a beginner character, yet is one of the most viable in the entire series. You simply ignore points that counter your dull notion that some characters should be intentionally bad and focus on claiming someone didn't read your comment, rather than come up with a reasonable rebuttal.
My case has been made. BHVR are poor at designing Killers. That's just a fact.
Well I’ve never played them so of course I won’t fully address it since I know nothing about it. He is a steppingstone killer meant for low rank play and teaching, why do you continue to ignore the fact that I said most should be buffed.
I use to play F13 and I currently play Apex Legends, Just because I play different ones than you doesn’t mean that I don’t play any.
-
@weirdkid5 first I’ve never played Streetfighter or Overwatch. Did you read my original comment? I guess not since I said that most needed buffed but some needed to be steppingstones.
Please tell me how you’d make Trapper a viable steppingstone.
-
I’d prefer it tbh.

I didn't say it would make him viable. I asked you wouldn't that make him more viable than before, while still being a stepping stone character for new players? How he plays doesn't change. What he teaches doesn't change.
Adjustments like that and other miscellaneous QOL improvements are all most of the killers needs to be a lot more viable than they currently are.
It would make him more viable but I doubt you could make him R1 viable while keeping him a steppingstone.

And you can do that without making the character be not viable.
Imagine how much better and VIABLE Trapper would be if he could start off and carry multiple traps by default. His skill floor or ceiling hasn't changed at all, but he's suddenly much more viable than before.
That alone wouldn’t really make him viable since he still has to reset them.
-
They’re designed to teach the basics. We need some killers that teach the basics. @Sairek

Incorrect. An easy to play character can still be viable at high ranks. Just because a character is good doesn't mean others should be bad, that's bad game design.
Nurse is a viable Killer, but requires high amounts of skill to pull of her insane potential. A correctly balanced game would allow a Killer like Trapper, who is easier to play, to have a wider variety of options than someone like Nurse in order to remain viable even at high ranks.
This isn't something like a fighting game where there are clear interactions of balance and counter picks. This is an asymmetric game where every Killer is only countered by whatever perks and gameplay style the Survivors choose to play.
So when a Killer is countered by nearly every single aspect of the game, like Trapper or Wraith, they aren't an easy to play "stepping stone" killer. In fact, Trapper and Wraith are hard to play ar high rank BECAUSE they lack the ability to properly keep up. I shouldn't have to learn a completely new Killer just to have a chance if I've spent dozens on the one I actually find fun.
When you are held back directly by the character's design simply because the devs don't want the other side to feel like they are "facing an overpowered Killer" it's pretty bad game design.
They also teach you the basics AKA steppingstones. The devs themselves have said that not every killer is meant to be viable.
-
We still need some steppingstone killers. Not every killer should be billy level since we need steppingstones like Trapper for newer players however most should be buffed.
-
You got me!😂

How could they make him strong? Everyone knew that he’d be weak but you all wanted him!

It looks fun, can’t wait for it to come on PS4. :)

So rewards the survivors for even worse plays and not only punishes the killer for doing their objective but now forces you to play dirty to work around it too.... I don't know what to say.
You actually have to work for it at least.

@ScottJund you can’t always “just blink to the corner” so yes, prediction is a part of Nurse. Not every LOS blocker is one that you can just blink to the corner and see the survivors.
