  • Sorry if someone else has posted about this, but has anyone else experienced freezing while trying to grab survivors?

Had it as a trapper yes.

It happened to me because i started the grab but they finished the gen and i just got stuck like it.

@GraviteaUK one of the reasons i dont use hexes. Even with TOTH, they’re still far too quick to cleanse. All the notification tells a killer is “you’re about to lose your hex”

    It depends on map size.

If it's something fairly small ToTH can make defending a totem worth it.

If it's any of the farm, forest, swamp maps. No chance of keeping it up.

Personally i think they should buff ToTH, now not to make it slower on totems but to do several other things.

First make it so ToTH reveals which totem is which.

Second make it so you can see which hex is being cleansed and also show a colour, Green means it's been started Orange means it's close to being cleansed bit like Surveillance for your totems.

In the past 12 months I've only dodged twice and it was in the PTB. There was some toxic guy who was just spamming his flashlight all game so after I played against him once each other time I saw him in my lobby I simply dodged.

I still see some people trying to flashlight macro it's pretty sad.

@Dragonredking From a survivor pov, I find that most twitch url names I play with on my team love farming people, but they also are the first people to steal a chase from me if I've been going for too long so I love being in a game with them. And I've never seen one act crappy in the after game lobby so far. I believe you though, I have killer main friends who complain about those url people starting drama in game and on twitch and sending lynch mobs after people and making lists of people to grieve, etc etc.

I will be frank as a streamer on the side myself i find the lynch mobs that come for me are from OTHER streamers.

I mean personally im a pretty big stickler for ToS so i ask my viewers NOT to do this as it's reportable.

"Making lists" is pretty darn sad lol

quite simply, killers just want an easy game because they need to.......

    Leave Salt Below.....

Welp at least the killer disconnects the lobby BEFORE the game starts and does not waste too much of your time ay?

    No.

You already have perks like NOED that makes survivors one hit.

This literally DEFEATS the purpose of even having hex totems if it doesn't matter if they are broken or not.

    Yes and No

The reason they are destroy-able is because they are supposed to be powerful.

Now Ruin and NoED (Which can be turned off before it even activates) i will grant you but lets look at the rest.

Third Seal: Worthless, may as well take knock-out since you can't turn that off and completely useless against SWF.

Devour Hope: Good on paper bad in practise, it will get found at most 2 stacks unless the survivors are completely ignoring totems and it will probably spawn at shack or next to a gen anyway.

Lullaby: Unless you can stack this max it's easy to ignore just like Devour Hope

Haunted Ground and Thrill: Both of these suffer the same problem, they are only useful running with other Hexes to try and protect them and since we have been down this list Ruin is the only one worth it.

So what can be changed? whilst the thought of making them partially passive after cleansing is nice i think making them harder to get rid of/find is the way forward.

I can easily find all totems including hexes within the first 2 minutes of a game starting even WITHOUT small game, they are THAT predictable with spawns and i have played those maps over and over.

  • @CornChip said:

Why does the gen time need to be increased? Is it so killers can kill more survivors and 4K's become even more prevalent?

You speak as if they are prevalent now.

Unless the survivors really don't bother doing gens the hatch is all but guaranteed and the majority of the games played won't have someone with the ability to 4 man slug unless as stated the survivors really badly mess up.

  • Sincere or not i don't really care (I doubt it is anyways). The amount of damage he's done to this game is without measure.

Not only did he openly abuse bugs and broadcast them for 1000s of others to try and abuse (yes BVHR should fix them but it's no excuse).

He spawned an entire culture of toxicity and in game bullying and greifing and i was happy to see him get some punishment.

But did he stop there? was he sorry? no he did it again and again and again to the point where they had no choice but to hardware ban.

Should moving to another platform absolve him of this? no you're still banned regardless.

I hope he stays banned and remains a cautionary tale to those who think BVHR have no teeth and won't hesitate to ban the worst of the community.

  • It's messed up for killers but makes sense for survivors.

Survivors can't just run gens anymore they need to save some people, take some chases.

But that's what a survivor is required to do.

The only problem for killer is they kill period to me it shouldn't matter whether they are "Devious" "Hunters" or whatever a kill is a kill.

    This game is balanced??

The pipping / emblem system is getting another rework because of how broken it is atm.... ######### do you mean?

Ds rework is always going to have a opposing views to whether it needed a nerf or not.

The only perk that actually hurt killers... needed a nerf? really?

Make your choice, Haunted grounds, Devour Hope, NoED : 4 Insta Downs with killers automatically being faster by default.

Game Changers, "clutch" Perks. fair enough...

Decisive Strike was the only sure fire Clutch Perk survivors had if they actually were to hit it...

how the ######### is that even remotely balanced that killers have so many insta downs and the one thing that urks killers the most gets removed after 2 years. I use the term removed because it completely useless. DEVs say its to counter tunneling... There is no counter to tunneling. Unless the increase that duration to more than 3 seconds allo and not let Enduring effect it, DS is utterly useless...

there is no argument killers can back up saying that this was a fair direction to move forward.

remember when 360's were first discovered??

    ----

Killer mains: i cant hit my targets, they keep spinning wah wah wah...

DEVS: dont worry, we will give you BUILT IN AIM ASSIST so that those missed Strikes turn to hits...

    ---

    Justify that fukery.....

this game is so heavily tailored to killers far worse than it ever has.

we all still play this game for endless hours but can still dread alot of its crappy mechanics tailors to ######### players.

why dont you take the time to research Recorded User Logins for DBD and see how bad those user log ins dropped after the update..... DBD lost ALOT of players when DS rework came out. this tells you something. change has to happened.

again, i go back to Ash Williams is a distraction from terrible update we just received.

as nathan explosion once said Sh it Sandwhich taste great.

The only insta-down that is not down to the survivors making a mistake is MYC

    NoED - Didn't remove totems

Haunted Grounds - Touched the wrong one

Devour Hope - Left a lit one up for 5 count em 5 hooks.

And Devour Hope is a barely used perk lets not exaggerate.

The only Crutch perk killers truly have is NoED and that can be removed before even activating. Hell they can remove it for all i care but don't act like the rest of the nerfs for survivor were not deserved.

You seem to be re-calling times when you could insta-finish gens with BNP's and 360 with a controller made it laughably easy.

It's finally something closer to balanced and you can't sit and laugh as you insta finish 5 gens or flashlight a killer into ALT F4 because they were perma blinded.

Yes losing players when DS was nerfed does tell me something, too many crutchers were using it.

It literally took 4 players running it for 4 easy escapes from the killer and that's not even counting the other crap they could pull like insta-meds, flashlight saves and hook-blocks.

Was DS OP in solo play? perhaps not but for as long as SWF is in the game that has to be taken into account and they abused the ever-living crap out of it.

  • I honestly don't know how people can complain about huntress, her hatchets clip with everything and his dog.

The only time i have died recently one shot or not is if i make a silly mistake or she has to tunnel me off the hook but that still results in the rest of my team getting out.

You can literally find a pallet and lap her around it for 4-5 laps at a time before she forces you to drop it at which time she can still clip/miss and she gets 3 shots at it max.

I find her perfectly balanced, in the hands of a decent player she's ok if the person playing her does it wrong they lose.

Also if you get her on Coldwind Farm she may as well ALT F4 it's laughably easy when she can't mind game you at T-walls.

  • Most other games take into account the rank of your opponents too.

If i escape a rank 2 killer as rank 11 i should be more rewarded than if it was a rank 15 one.

Same will killer if i decimate a team as a green ranks killer full of purple an reds i should be rewarded more for that.

If im a rank 2 killer and i ######### on a bunch of rank 12s i should safety pip but i shouldn't up-pip at all.

  • Depends how they play the Plague.

Anyone seen how easy it is to grab red puke turn the mouse sense up and just spray puke in all directions like a catherine wheel, Yes this works and it's funny.

  • @Yamaoka said:

I see what you're saying but honestly it's not that simple.

Even optimal survivors can lose to a mid tier killer such as the pig depending on the pig's build, map, map layout, their spawn location, your spawn location (I usually have better games if I spawn next to my totem because I don't waste time checking on it and also it doesn't get found as quickly), helmet rng in case of the pig etc.

Winning is not all about skill but also a matter of luck to some degree.

I agree but it comes down to the % chance of that happening.

Skill ceiling is not generally done as numbers but more like Tier lists.

These are normally determined by the mechanics and kit the killer has at their disposal.

I know i have way more chance of getting out a game with a W vs a Legion then a Nurse.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Thanatophobia isn’t about slowing down gen progress directly (although any action speed penalty is good), it’s about getting survivors to waste time healing or finding a teammate to heal themselves. That’s how Thanatophobia buys time. Take Coulrophobia or Nurses Calling for example. A survivor isn’t going to be stupid enough to heal within your TR. They’re about area control, and buying time to help kicked gens regress more by encouraging injured survivors to leave the area you patrol.

Again, as i’ve stated few perks are totally useless, and most have indirect, sly strategical uses beyond their direct description.

Thantophobia is barely noticable on healing unless it's all 4 Sloppy Butcher is far better for this purpose and makes survivors easier to track via the bleeding.

Thanny is 16% fully stacked against healing and as soon as you kill someone that potential drops as dead guys don't count towards it.

Sloppy is 20% and is always at 20%

  • Sure, can the killer hide in a locker? hide closer to the hook and hide behind objects to hide from the perk?

No one uses BBQ for tracking anymore it's worthless they use it for the BP bonus only.

  • I would say a good 50% of all killer perks are not worth using.

Most are situational and best and are normally eclipsed by another perk that does a similar effect that gives more value for less effort.

Take Thanny, Slows the game down mainly used for gens, per survivor injured which is nice until you realise to get any real value 4 survivors must be injured, killing people and losing the Thanny value on that person means as the game progresses it gets worse and worse.

Take Ruin instead sure it can be taken out but if you get more than 1 minute or 2 out of it you will still get more value than a whole game with Thanny.

Thanny to slow down healing? Sloppy Butcher again outclasses it.

  • Essentially if you can't kill the survivor before he finds the hatch you have lost 100%.

The hatch standoff always favors the survivor and i personally just hit him and let him have it and get onto my next game.

The hatch is there simply for salty survivors who can't take an L and would grief a killer by spending the next 30 mins playing immersive out of pure spite if the hatch was not there despite them not intending to win.

IMO remove the hatch grab but make the hatch close for X second after the survivor has taken a hit, no more take hit and jump right into the hatch.

But the killer can't grab if the survivor finds it first or if they find it at the exact same moment the survivor gets out BUT if the survivor has not already started his jump animation and takes a hit he loses or has to run the killer for a loop until the hatch re-opens.

  • @Master said:

But a rank 18 killer facing rank 1s has been fine for 3 years?

Shhhh everyone knows it only counts if the survivors are getting stomped.

  • This isn't just a survivor thing.

Im rank 13 killer (this season) a 1 perk plague and went up against rank 2 survivors.

They keep messing with the matchmaking and it's only making things worse but jesus it's not something i would quite the game over, ranks mean nothing in this game the only difference between 2 and 12 is the amount of time played this season.

  • How many people should get caught by NoED? 1 just 1 the first unlucky sod that gets hit.

And that should be it, why?

BECAUSE YOU SHOULD GET OUT THE FREAKING DOOR.

I tell my mates to do it even if im the one that gets hit.

Most NoED whiners are people that run in for stupid unhooks with NoED still up.

Greedy survivors that believe all 4 should get out.

Why is NoED such a crutch? is it because the killer gets "OmG Ez cRuTCHer" no because survivors feed him stupid free kills.

    "Omg totems take time"

And? it takes barely any time at all to do 5 gens and the totem spawns are laughably obvious even without small game.

Except for Billy and Nurse most of the other killers don't even have viable map pressure.

Remove NoED for all i care but don't sit there and say it's because it's unfair when the power is always in the survivors hands to remove it.

  • Hillbilly 101.

Walk behind survivor, press right click, they either drop a pallet or die.

After 2 times of finding a pallet spirit fury is up granting a free hit rinse and repeat.

Run BBQ, SF, Enduring and Ruin/Perk of your choice, Discordance or Corrupt Intervention are good choices.

  • I gave her a shot, played a couple games and here's what i discovered, She's a D tier Huntress.

    Sure she is 115 but.

    1. She slows when taking in vomit just like the Huntress with a hatchet, and after completion she slows again
    2. She can be looped to oblivion, sure you can vomit but it does no damage unless you have a red fountain which makes her the same as, you guessed it Anna.
    3. Hitboxes are busted AF, why would anyone want to use an arcing ability that barely registers actual hits? sure it's slightly more forgiving than the Huntress being a channelled ability so you have more chances at a hit, but has shorter range and it has slower travel speeds.

  • @Arroz said:

    @GraviteaUK said:

    @Arroz said:
    That's the lag
The only broken hitboxes are the freddy's, nurse's when she blink and the huntress hatchet, thanks god they are adding dedicated server, it will require skill to play huntress ;)

Huntress is ez mode anyways shes loopable to oblivion and those hatchets collide with every object imaginable XD

And it's mostly lag, once dedicated servers come in there should be a real noticeable difference.

When dedicated servers come huntress hitbox will be real :3

Yea and when you get hit will you accept that? no you will be on where whining for nerfs just like everyone is already.

Nothing will change at all outside of the game.

  • NoED is a trash and overrated perk.

You have 2 opportunities to get rid of it.

Once before it activates and if you know where the lit one is after it has activated.

9/10 times the killer will get 1 person with NoED, and that should be it why? because you should GET OUT THE DOOR.

Altruism is fine but there are times when getting out the game is the right decision.

    Not wandering back in,

Not tea-bagging in the wrong place so you get instadowned and hooked.

Not trying to loop the killer hoping someone else destroys the lit totem.

    GET OUT.

  • @GrootDude said:

Yep, it’s better to just play that match then risk getting banned.

What ban? i don't think anyone has ever been banned for disconnecting from matches ever.

It might be a rule, but it certainly isn't enforced.

  • @Shad03 said:

    @GraviteaUK Exposed means 'one hit'.

Welcome Sherlock! But seriously they should just remove the expose it's what all the complaining stems from.

  • If there's a single dull totem left on the map by the time the exit gates are powered, NOED comes into effect.

So in effect it's a haste buff and reveals auras but no longer exposes? personally i love that idea, it makes it an end-game monster perk.

But for spice to make it real scary i think it should Haste, Reveal Aura AND also remove the killers terror radius.

They are still not instadowned and can still escape but the killer remains a real threat. and they still have incentive to remove the totems to stop it.

  • Disconnects have always been an issue to me they should be treated as a kill IF they are already loaded in when they do it.

Alot of people don't DC, they leave the game out of spite and it's not adequately punished imo.

  • @Kagrenac said:

Shouldnt you be attacking from a distance instead of getting close enough to get looped? Even then it seems like a player problem; just like how huntress can hatchet through loops

Except the Plagues range is far shorter than it appears to actually register a hit,

It looks like it goes for miles but the area in which the game will register the hit is pretty darn short.

  • @BreadLord said:

it was called for imo, just holding it forever, finding a survivor, and causing them to go tino broken state just like that was to strong

It takes 2 pukes to broken state.

If that was huntress you would be on the way to the hook not be requiring a 3rd hit.

  • TLDR: OMG MY CRUTCH PERK IS RUINED PLZ REFUNDDDDD BVHR FUUUUUUUU

I play survivor to survive and killer to kill. All other concerns are irrelevant.

If that's the case your quote regarding rushing gens in my eyes is incorrect.

Playing with the sole intent of finishing the game as soon as possible and stagnating on the same rank repeatedly is stale, personally i wouldn't consider that optimal anymore. I can only hope BVHR introduce some sort of rank incentive so gen rush dies.

So i wouldn't say it's proven anything other than you got out which is not really all that difficult, on average most killers will get 2-3 kills per game and even if they do get all three before you can finish the rush you still have the pity hatch.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/375192#Comment_375192

Genrush is the most optimal way to play, as proven over and over again.

Until now with the ranking changes.

Rush gens = No altruism and not boldness, So no ranking.

Sure you will get out and "win" but if ranking up is your goal, it won't get you far.

  • Immersive is pointless now if you're looking to rank up anyways with the new rank system.

    You need a healthy middleground.

You need to take chases and survive to get out. Otherwise boldness won't pip and you won't move in ranking.

No, it doesn't. You can use your red stain for mind games.

Red stain mind games are when they can see your stain from around rocks or corners at pallets, windows etc.

I think he's referring to the clipping completely through solid objects mind games or not that shouldn't be happening.

  • Yup both Red Forest maps are freaking huge.

And i had it 90% of the games last night, got old real fast.

No...her ultra rare add-ons aren’t good. She has a yellow, green, and purple add-on that increases the amount of sickness dealt with Vile Purge. The purple one is really good.

Plague is A LOT easier to play than Huntress and Corrupt Purge is stronger than Huntress hatchets (except Iridescent Head). She is also faster than Huntress.

However I won’t deny Huntress takes WAY more skill and is arguably better.

She is faster in a straight line but taking in vomit slows her down and after using it slows her down again.

I would argue she's even easier to loop than Huntress is.

I dunno if i just have bad depth perception but i found Huntress hatchets easier to use than the vomit, might need more time ofc.

  • @AndyMXM said:

As a matter of effectiveness, I don't think huntress is as good, she gets looped hard due to the slower speed and her map control is bad unless you hit a hatchet across the map

The Plague is 115 but she slows down when taking in vomit and when she's emptied she slows down again, so overall i think it will end up about the same.

  • The Plague is worse than the huntress Imo.

Her green puke just makes her easier to down you with an LC but requires 2 puke hits, in Huntress terms that alone is a down.

Sure as Plague you can be slightly less accurate but you have less overall range.

In red puke she's the same as the Huntress not even counting 1 shot hatchets.

If you can aim with Huntress well she's superior to The Plague.

  • @MegMain98 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/374731#Comment_374731

You’re also forgetting that with add-ons, The Plague’s Vile Purge can inflict the broken status effect in one stream.

Plague is easily on the level on Myers, maybe even better.

Leatherface is one of the worst killers in the gane

1 stream with an addon that im guessing will be her Red?

To make her the same as the huntress? except they can run to any fountain to get rid of it.

I would put her down with The Legion i don't feel any pressure playing against her at all.

It's just loop away until you finally get broken then just break off the chase and run to a fountain, her range is pretty short and unlike huntress if it's green it can't down you without an LC, so you don't even have to break the loop.

It's basically like playing with No Mither

    That’s not helpful.

i’d like genuine advice on how to better utilise Plague.

Which no one can give you yet. She's been out 1 day and has received numerous changes since the PTB.

So when i say play The Huntress im saying it genuinely, your only options are play someone else until genuine advice is available or you're gonna have to discover how to use her yourself.

    Leatherface:

    • 115% mms killer
    • 32m terrorradius
    • instadown when there is nothing to dodge (windows, pallets)

=> has no map pressure, instadown only works while catching Survivors in an open field or while defending a hook. Also has no was to slow down the game or effectively mindgame around loops.

    Plague:

    • 115% mms killer
    • 32m terrorradius
    • shoots projectiles that eifriger debuff survivors or outright injure them.
    • debuffs contain loud noises, being oneshot and trackable puke on the ground (I think).
    • infected survivors can infect other survivors.
    • can be healed at fountains (leads to killer buff)

=> has a decent map pressure, can inflict oneshot over time, can slow down the game by forcing survivors to heal at fountains —> buff to the killers power to down at distance —> harder to loop.

she is stronger than bubba in pretty much every way.

    Not quite.

You're forgetting with addons leatherface can move faster with his chainsaw than 115.

The Plague also slows down when using the projectile and after finishing vomiting.

The infection takes too long to build unless you tunnel but it takes 2 pukes to injure someone and stage 1 cannot down people at all.

Powered up, makes her the same as a huntress except she trades range for movement speed.

Personally i would take LF over The Plague any day of the week.

  • @ChesterTheMolester said:

60 seconds and 2 hooks and an average chase is more than enough to pop 3 generators, and start and be partially through 4 and 5 if the Killer decides to camp you as a slug for the time.

Its still a powerful perk, it just doesn't deny Killers chance to win by ruining the most important time (early stage) with just a free out of jail card that rewards you for failing.

    That's not how it works.

We all know if he gets slugged or the killer camps it requires every remaining survivor to sit and watch for several mins instead of running gens, then make a bonehead rescue attempt feeding the killer another kill then complain about it on here.

  • Were they not SWF? If they play with friends that have not played since the rank reset would result in big rank discrepancies such as this.

    • your post is bad and you should feel bad

Also feeling a lack of citations...

OMG i get 4 kills all the time at R1 GiT G00D, with no proof at all

  • You got 4 man slugged by a PIG who is mid tiered at best.

Yes i do see a problem here and it's not on the killer.

I mean Nurse and Billy i can see how that can happen, but PIG?

  • Do they even do hotfixes?

Basement bug took a week to fix and that was gamebreaking.
