  • For killer it would be BBQ. The points are nice and worth it all the time. But I just like being able to go from one chase to another. It's a really nice perk.

For survivor. I like Lithe. I feel like the other exhaustion perks are fine. But finding a good window and procing this to run two jungle gyms over and reset the chase is just huge. Such a massive time waste for the killer to have to chase you that far. Only to be once again stuck on another loop by time he catches up with you. It's certainly the newbie exhaustion perk. But I'll take it.

  • I like it. Seems like a healthy idea. It would also probably leave survivors with the situation... Do I want to run BT or DS. Obviously you could still run both. But most likely you'd chose one over the other.

Brown medkits give you one full heal. Self cares fine as long as you dont spend the whole game hiding in the corner selfcaring. if you know when to prioritise gens over heals then selfcares decent ig

Yes. All I'm saying. You can still run self-care and use it well. I often run around hurt even when I have the perk. I'd much rather naturally run into teammates to heal me. Which is usually what happens. But when you have game sense and realize.... These teammates are all on death chase, it's my time to take the chase. I'm going to heal up and make sure the killer finds me so that I can do my job and take the chase. Same with if it's a camper or tunneling play. Getting healed up to go in and save a teammate is obviously smarter then running up injured into a camping player.

Cleansing dull totems is the worst way to counter NOED. It's better to cleanse it at end game or just not heal all game. Although I do agree with you that someone who refuses to try and counter NOED shouldn't complain about it.

I actually also go with this. If I see a totem that's in a very open spot and easy to see. I leave it up so I can easily find it again at the end of the game hoping it went there. But the ones that are really hidden well into the environment are probably good to cleanse.

Self care imo is a wasted perk slot it takes forever to heal with it either get your teammate to heal you or just do gens. You can use perks like iron will or resilance instead. Also brown medkits are so much more useful now cause you can keep them if you escape so i use them instead of selfcare

That's your personal opinion. I like to run self-care. There's been times where I've lost games because I need to be healed and I can't get healed. So I'd rather be safe and use a perk to heal myself. I'd use Inner Strength if it went in the Shrine of Secrets one of these weeks, but I haven't seen it.

I personally don't bring items into games. I feel like it's already too easy to survive. So I try to add more difficulty by coming in naked. But I guess brown med kits are fine, but don't they not even fully heal you 1 time?

  • @Desh said:

I'm just saying, it is possible to get both gen rushed and all totems cleansed in a few minutes. I've seen it done as a Killer and I've done it as a Survivor. It takes like what, 16 seconds or something to cleanse a totem with nothing hindering you? It's not hard.

Yes. Obviously this is possible. But when you are playing as solo. If all 4 solo survivors are running around looking for 5 totems. Then that's going to be an insane time waste. Where as of course SWF can just count how many totems they've cleansed over voice comms. Just too much work to figure how how many totems are cleansed by your teammates when you have no way to communicate that.

  • Maybe he's a solo player? Feel like Self-care is still a much needed perk for solo players. You often don't get healed by your teammates. Need something to be able to get back to full life. Besides what else is there to run? Besides for an exhaustion perk there's nothing a survivor really needs to run.

My build is Lithe, Self-Care, DS, and Adrenaline. Lithe being exhaustion and the other 3 being perks that are situational to get me out of a bad situations. I feel like I win a large majority of my games at red rank solo.

  • Hope this new patch makes killer feel better. NOED is super common right now and it's a little bit frustrating. But I don't really blame killers for running it right now. Game flies and they have to try something to be competitive and get kills at the end of the game. Would love to see it less common. I can't remember another time where rank 1-5 was full of NOED killers. I feel like those high ranked killers were too embarrassed to run a perk like NOED.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not against killers using the perks they want. But NOED is kinda one of those perks that is pretty unfun. I'd rather have more competitive games before the exit gates are opened. It is kinda silly how weak killers feel right now. Then the exit gates light up and you get 1 hooked. Which isn't good for them or you. Dying on one hook sucks and obviously they'd get more points if they could hook more people a game.

  • Some people troll. Probably wasn't anything personal. Most likely will never see it again. Just move on and forget it ever happened. Could've also done something that he didn't like. Maybe you took a chest he was going for or something like that. People are weird. Especially in his community.

  • @Seanzu said:

The only change DS warrants is deactivating it at end game, at that point you haven't been tunneled because you're still alive after everything is powered on, any other change is simply pandering to bad killers.

I actually like this. I think DS is fine as is. But Borrowed time into DS is terrible for the EGC. Leave a killer helpless. It's like auto escapes if you have more then one teammate alive. Maybe this would help.

  • Water. Just picture it. The game loads in with a 5th generator just being powered. The entire map fills up with water. And Jaws swims into the map. The structures on the map are crushed by the amount of water that pool into the map at once. Leaving platforms that the survivors have to hop between. Of course Jaws can eat them as he chases the survivors across them. Swimming mechanic is added into the game. But while in water the survivors have little chance.

Of course this is crazy seeing as they haven't figured out any way to add anything other then pallet after 4 years. But hey maybe something big will come out at some point!

I simply disagree with the mori part. I feel like at least as of recent, maybe a little under half my games have a mori in them. I wouldn't call that "a LOT more common" to play against somebody without a mori. But I'm not going to argue with that because you're talking from your experience and I'm talking from mine there.

As for the part that includes "I haven't seen a single killer dodge a lobby in two weeks" -- that's my point. Killers can already see the names of their opponents, and you acknowledge they could dodge but don't. So why wouldn't it be any different for survivors?

Also, don't just assume I "earned" the moris. I'm not the kind of player I imagine people would find plays "toxic." I don't even run "sweaty" meta perks or anything a lot. Moris are simply common for me to run into nowadays.

I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings here. But I think that it's a pretty well known thing that survivors care way too much. It's kinda crazy. Of course there's bad examples on both sides. But survivors will get mori'd and wait 10 minutes for the game to end to talk crap to the killer instead of moving on, they used to DC to prevent BBQ and Chili stacks, they will camp your profile for 48 hours if you kill them. If you've ever turned on some of those low viewer twitch streams... They cry and whine and get super angry when they die.

I'm not trying to make this a point of toxicity. But I feel like when you're playing a killer.... If you see a survivor that beat you before and you notice. Then this time you're challenged and you're going to try really hard to kill that guy. It's like an extra challenge. That guy got you the last time, now you're going to get them this time. A healthy feud. Survivors tend to want to win. There has to be a reason that they made it so you can't look at recently played with to figure out who the killer is. Just saying.

It'd be less of a big deal right now. Since killer queue's are instant. But back in the day when killer queue's were like 5 mins and survivors were instant, it wasn't that fun.

  • @Huff said:

Yeah, nor is it "healthy" to have people that make it a point to just play like a dick. But it still happens. I just think it should go both ways: if a killer can see who a survivor is then it should work the other way around. Bringing ebony mori and tunneling the hell out of people and mori off first hook every game isn't "people that can play well." Either way, people can always change their screen name, at least on Steam, if they really care about that. Or just don't play like an absolute jerk.

Anyway, by your logic if people just dodged to avoid "people that can play well" then no games would ever go on because killers would be dodging all their strong opponents...

What do you mean would? Killers already see the names of people in their lobby. Don't they? Maybe not? I'm pretty sure they do. And I haven't seen a single killer dodge a lobby in two weeks.

And if you have this problem where you get mori'd often. You've probably earned them. Since it's a LOT more common to play a game without a mori active then it is to find a game where a Mori is active.

So you say DS is strong because killers are tunneling less? I'd say it's a healthy perk, but in terms of strength it rarely comes into play normally.

Yes. That's what I'm saying. I think it's personally a bad perk. But how killers play against it and expect every survivor to have it. It becomes a god tier perk. I don't even think it makes killers tunnel people less. I feel like they'll still often go for the unhooked player and they'll just wait a minute while camping them to pick them up. Causing numerous objectives to get done. All because they're afraid of taking a couple second stun.

  • @Huff said:

Not gonna lie, while it doesn't personally bug me that as a survivor the killer can see my stuff, I still sometimes wish, like you said, you could see the killer's name even if not the killer chosen. I keep an eye on names too and would love avoiding people that burn memories of awful games into my brain.

This isn't really a healthy thing. It takes me back a long time ago. I was playing killer and faced this TTV person. I like to support people. So after the game ends I go turn on this person's stream. I watch them for awhile. Back then you could check recently played with to see who your killer was (Don't know if this has been changed.)

They saw my name. The streamer said something along the lines of, "Oh it's that good trapper from a few games ago." His SWF teammate said, "Oh ######### that guy." And they all left the game.

Why is this a healthy change that's needed? It's not. People just avoid people that can play well. Oh that guys likes to main Freddy! DODGE. That guy is a little campy, DODGE! I hate nurses, he plays nurse DODGE! Like this is a really bad idea.

  • DS. It's amazing. You can have a team that doesn't use DS at all and still cause the killer to waste numerous minutes countering it. There's nothing out there that does what this perk does. When I play killer I just eat the DS, because I don't think it's a super strong perk. But with how most killers play around this perk, it makes it way more strong then it actually is. It's the most overhyped perk in the game that causes so many mistakes by the other side.

  • BBQ is probably the best perk in the game. And it's like the perfect balance of rewarding and good. Wish that there were more perks in the game like BBQ. It's just really unmatched with anything else out there.

But do you think it would fix the bugs in the ranking system? People getting rainbow mixes of ranks in a match.

People keep saying on the forums that they're redoing matchmaking. So I would just wait for that. Though it seems like that has been a promise made for years now. I feel like it was 2 years ago or so where they mentioned having this really cool ranking system. And it's not here yet. So I'm not sure if people are just like, "THEY PROMISED 2 YEARS AGO IT'S COMING!" Or if they've recently showed somewhere that it's actually being rolled out soon.

  • Nah. Not needed. It's better this way. If you add a solo queue and a SWF queue. Killers will continue to get ran by solo survivors and they won't have anything to blame it on. It's better to keep SWF in the game at this point. It gives killers an excuse every time they lose. It's actually a healthy thing at this point.

  • I hate Huntress. Obviously this add-on is really OP. But it's one of those things... You never see them. I don't think most people that play killer would enjoy running this. It's pretty much an automatic win. So the survivors aren't going to have fun and the killer isn't going to have fun either. That's why you don't see this ever. I've played against it maybe 1 time.

I just want it so you can toss a pallet down without getting hit by a hatchet. I hate that aspect of her. You feel like there's nothing you can do but get hit sometimes.

  • I put other. Just because I am always alt tabbed after I queue. So I don't ever know what they're bringing. I just let them escape with the key. I don't see why people get so salty when a key is used.

  • @KayK99 said:

It wasn't a competitive game, I only got that many points because they ran around in my face, unhooked each other right away and such stuff with their toxic flashlight clicking and teabagging. If they had delivered a normal game, with good plays, it'd be all good. But these red ranks don't want to do anything else but to give killers a stressful unfun game. But God forbid they get what they deserve and pour their salt and demand more chances to make the killer's more and more laughable

I mean. That sucks. But in all fairness. It's kinda good that they were willing to mess with you. It's 100% worse when you're getting bullied and they don't give you a chance to do anything. So they at least helped you farm some points by being so confident. We all have games like that though. Even at rank 1, sometimes I have games where there's nothing I feel like I can do. And then I just go switch to survivor for the rest of the night.

Just try to have fun the best you can. I can't anymore. Killer stresses me out too much. I switched sides and I enjoy the nice easy games. I'd really recommend it if you enjoy survivor any. At least once in awhile. You can't just pound that killer queue over and over again without being driven mad.

  • There isn't really a ton of different between a rank 1 killer and a rank 9 killer. Seeing as we're a couple of days after the reset. I'm going to assume it's just the first time you've had to play DBD since reset. Meaning you're probably normally a red rank killer or at least in purple ranks and really close. There's nothing wrong with expecting a rank 5 killer to face rank 1 survivors.

Matchmaking is broken. But it's not really that big of a deal. You got 30 k points in that game and were plenty competitive. So I don't understand why having a competitive game is a bad thing.

  • I don't know. I think that a change might be healthy. What if there was a system that when you started putting points into a character it asked you what perk you'd like to find, and it gave you like a choice of 5 perks to choose out of. You get to do this at level 2, 5, 10, 15, 25. So you get to chose 5 perks in total that you have a higher % of finding in bloodwebs. That way you can make a character playable. Sometimes you can like 70 levels without it having anything good. Which is kinda ridiculous.

  • @LALYTHIA said:

I'm sorry, I simply don't believe you. No actual survivor main would have this perspective.

Well you don't have to be a killer main or survivor main. There's plenty of people here that play both sides. So if you play both sides obviously you're going to be more open sided to both arguements.

I personally end up defending killers in post game lobby all the time. When whiney survivors stick around to say "TUNNELED!" "CAMPED!" And I'm like... Dude 4 gens were done in 3 minutes. He had to tunnel and camp to have any chance. Relax! And then they flame me. :P

  • If we're going to turn this into a solo queue what really GRINDS MY GEARS, thread. I don't hate getting camped by the killer. Because if they gen rush I completely understand he needs to try and get a kill.

But it's super annoying when you loop a killer around the map for 3-4 gens and your teammates don't even attempt to help you from getting 1 hooked. Feel like it's usually SWF teams that leave you for death too. They're so afraid of losing they have to form groups, and going next to a hook might result in them dying once in awhile. Oh no!

  • Probably not the answer you want. But personally I would run down into the basement and let him chainsaw me down. I'd rather just move on to a more enjoyable game.

  • I love your energy. This was like a speech that got me pumped up to go click ready for another solo experience.

I agree so much. GIVE IT TO ME HARD! I can forget and I will! I will not stalk someones DBD profile for 48 hours because they tunneled me!

I won't wait 20 minutes to flame the guy that mori'd me 30 seconds into the game!

I will not resort to finding a team of players that sound like they're at Katawice playing CS:GO!

    LET'S GO DIE TOGETHER!

  • "My routine of disinfecting, undressing, disinfecting again, showering and then showering again,"

Do you actually take a shower, get out and dry off. And then get back into the shower? Why don't you just take an extra long shower. There might be a problem with you. I don't support this behavior.

  • I hate instant down killers. I think they take away the main element of the game. Not saying that they're broken, because most of them have weaknesses. But DBD is pretty much like a game of tag. And when you take away chases from the game it's just kinda not the same game.

  • Bloodlust really doesn't need to be removed. I guess that's not fair since I didn't play PTB and experience these 'dead zones' that people claim are every where in the game. Maybe there will be a good reason to look into bloodlust. But one update at a time. Got to put out this patch, see how it feels, then you figure out if it needs to be changed.

That being said. I still don't think I'd call for a Bloodlust removal. I just don't see it being over powered. And the main use of it seems to be refusing to break a pallet and chasing a survivor around the same loop over and over again till it gains stacks. Which is a super huge waste of time as a killer. And it's probably beneficial to keep this in the game and continue to have killers waste time by circling a pallet. I think it could be argued that sometimes killers themselves extend chases using this feature and actually hurt themselves with it. I don't think this would be a massive nerf. But probably best to see the new fixes on the maps first.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1219086#Comment_1219086

I'm pretty sure good killers aren't usually run by one survivor the entire game. Although there are exceptions on some places in some maps, a good killer would avoid those chases or use a killer that circumvents them such as Nurse or Spirit.

I mean. Pretty close to that. If you manage to have a decently long chase, let's say two minutes. Probably 3 1/2 generators are already done. So as long as one of your teammates can then follow with a 1 minute chase, it's an easy GG with no one dying.

I don't know if I've really run into good killers though. Guess it's hard to judge if they're good or having a good game and the right map. But the days of seeing killer players with 2k hours that are dominant seem to be in the past. Killer is frustrating and you have to try way too hard to try and get a couple of kills. So I'm going to assume the good killers have moved on. But I have no proof of that of course. I just haven't seen them.

  • Solo survivor is enjoyable for many. One game that you got to snap a screen shot of isn't going to make people feel differently. First of all, very unlucky to be a rank 4 and somehow get into a match playing with all brown rank survivors. I have never had that happen to me. But the matchmaking is a bit broken. Still I'm going to assume that you're going to see that one in maybe 50 matches, if not less then that.

Solo survivors are under no disadvantage as anyone else in the game. These forums are full of NERF SWF TEAMS! When solo survivors run the killer all day long too. Maybe there's more skill and game knowledge needed to get to that point. But once players have thousands of hours into a game they're going to adapt. Like any game out there. DBD is also very easy to climb ranking in. You can carry a team. Maybe not the one in that screen shot. But 90% of the time you can carry your team to a victory if you have the ability to waste a killers time.

If you really hate solo's, that's fine. But realize that requiring voice communication to win is just as much of a crutch as any perks that you claim a killer is using. Everyone has a game like you did. I tend to just laugh it off. Sometimes things just go REALLY bad. Usually due to us survivors being over confident and screwing around with a killer that takes advantage of it. You don't have to win every game to have fun. But seeing as you're up to red rankings. I would assume you win almost every game and one bad game still bothers you.

What are the chances that you’ll get to the end game collapse with all four survivors, everyone is on their first or second hook, and are all healthy? Also, DS would go away once another survivor was hooked.

I feel like this situation is not only not unlikely. But normal. The end game collapse is in a really bad state. So yeah if it goes away on the next hook I guess that would make it okay. But honestly I think it's already in a really good spot. I don't see anything wrong with the current state of it.

  • Think this would be very unhealthy for the end game collapse. It's already bad enough that you cannot get a kill if there's still at least 2 healthy survivors when one person is hooked. Now it's even easier. Just trade hooks with the killer until you've all been hooked. And all four survivors have unlimited DS to run out the exit gates.

  • Tunneling is honestly starting to feel like it's justified. The games just end to fast. Playing a bunch of games it seems like the games are over way too quick. I feel like it's quite common for a killer to get 1-3 hooks before the exit gates are open. Tunneling in those situations becomes mandatory if you ever want to get a kill. I see NOED a lot now. Something that was never used back in the day. Top ranked killers wouldn't used NOED but now they feel like they have to. These strategies are being used right now because killers are very weak and stressful to play. You can't expect for people to just accept losing every game. Eventually they're going to try and change up how they play so that they can actually be competitive.

  • @Reborn2020 said:

Your fault for being bad at the game / expecting to be good with little to no effort / playing low tier killers.

Don't know if your post is really constructive. Being able to play low tier killers is what the game needs. You shouldn't be forced to play other killers you don't enjoy because your favorites are dog poop. But yeah Legion is pretty bad.

And you have no idea if he's good or bad at the game. He said killer is stressful. And there's really no argument to that. Being able to win is more fun. And that's why the switch to survivor to get the victories is always a good method.

I've joined you op! I have been playing only survivor the last two weeks and it's a lot of fun. I'm surprised I like it so much.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

The problem with this is it punishes stealthy playstyles. If I manage to completely evade the killer when they come to check on my gen I'd be considered a bad player under this system.

But that makes you a bad player. Maybe not in such harsh terms. But players that are afraid to take chases and hide lead to the same people being in numerous chases. Which leads to them dying and the stealth players being left alone to get slaughtered.

  • Lol. Why would you get rid of a perk that's been there from the beginning. Nothing wrong with Self-Care. It's a good perk. I keep it on because I'd rather have an option to use it if I need it. But to be honest I normally run around injured a lot and wait for heals from teammates. But there's just too many situations where I'm like... If I had self-care this would be easy. Feel like I don't really need any other perk in the 4th slot. So why not?

  • @Zarr0ch said:

    Ban SWF. Everyone wins.

These posts are so silly. Killers got this ego thing and can't realize that they're being run by solo players all day long. Everyone that's decent is a SWF team. Just constantly talking about how SWF is so strong. So broken. Yet playing today as a solo... I played a lot of matches. 3-4 people escape almost every game and we're solo. The only time people get killed is because NOED is super meta right now. And they usually get a NOED kill at EGC and camp the one guy for their kill. SWF isn't an issue at all. People are just really good at survivor. That's what will happen if you spend 5,000 hours running the same loops over and over again.

Players that made it to final are the best players.

I don't know if that's accurate. I'm sure there's a lot of good players there. But I'm sure there's plenty of good players that nobody knows about. If you told most people, "Hey let's go join a DBD tournament" they'd just laugh at you. Not everyone is trying to take this to the extremes of tournament play. I think Tru's pretty bad. Tofu is pretty good. Probably would be up there. Same that that female Huntress player. There's a few of the streamers that are pretty good.

  • Solo and SWF isn't a ton different. There's a ton of solo survivors that bully up on a killer just as bad as SWF groups do. Don't think you have to balance for a specific side. Honestly anyone can be good if they try. These SWF threads are done everyday and there's just as many weak SWF teams as there are strong ones, actually probably a lot more. And there's plenty of solo players that can have great teamwork without communication. It's all about game knowledge. I get accused of SWF multiple times a day even though I have 0 friends that play DBD.

Yeah, who cares if a match is fun for survivors or not? LOL #########, no? If Killers get to forfeit a match because they're not enjoying it - survivors should get to as well. 😂 And if that's the case, why did we do away with DC?????

This is silly. No one gets to leave unless its in the dark embrace of the entity.

Survivors have been allowed to get out of matches for four years. Maybe the game didn't go their way, they got hooked first so they give up. The killer they're facing is good, quit. Avoid him getting BBQ stacks, quit. QUIT QUIT QUIT. It's been going on for four years. And someone brings up the idea of the killer getting a surrender button and the first thing brought up is how survivors would feel? Four freaking years of quitting out of games and that was fine. Holy damn. Not that I agree with the idea. But that's just ridiculous. The millions of d/c's. You used to have multiple a match.

  • I would say level up ace for his perks. They're not good btw. But sometimes I like to put on an item finding build and farm some items out. Especially if you play with friends a lot and you're going to survive a lot of the games. It's a great way to get a ton of flashlights and other important things.

  • No one else is starting to feel a little bad for the OP? Rank 10 survivor or whatever they mentioned being in rank. Doesn't pallet loop... Plays without a mouse. Like everything is starting to add up. Obviously they're playing in ranks where all the survivors aren't god like. They haven't mastered the art of looping and doing everything in their power to waste a killers time. Time to give him/her a break and relax. It sucks that you're already having difficulty surviving and it's only going to get worse. But you're going to have to start optimizing your gameplay. Otherwise you're going to get slaughtered now.

Youre right. Maybe i misread something. How exactly does this balance the game out? Every single match i play in its a slug at the end. Too many gens done? Let me slug and tunnel. Its an easy takeover for a killer especially if the survivors practice altruism which is how we gain points. So either we try and save each other for some bps or were all dead and weve still gained no bps cause were all being thrown in a pile in the dying state. Even though thats not even the objective of the game lmao.

I can't really answer that for you. Obviously something is going wrong? Are you not high ranked. I'm a solo player that used to play a lot more killer then survivor. I feel like out of every 10 matches or so... 5 games will have 3-4 survivors escape. 3 games will be a 4k. And then there will be a couple of games where 1 or 2 manage to escape.

I've switched to survivor because for the first time I find killer too much of a challenge and you have to try way to hard just to get a couple of kills. But survivor I don't even know what I'm doing. And I escape all the time? So I would think balancing that out would be good?

  • I think Clown will be hard to balance. When I returned to the game at one point I looked through the killers. I was like HOLY ######### THE CLOWN! I was so pumped. I fed him points and was ready to go. Anti looping is going to be the greatest thing ever. His perks are cool. This can't fail. And then...I realized that he wasn't really that good. I don't know why. The bottles you think would make him really strong. But it just isn't good. I don't even have a problem with running him either. So I don't know how you buff him. Because you're a few small changes away from turning him into a god as well.

I saw an idea the other day that seemed great. Giving him a way to get across the map. Getting into a locker and moving to another locker across the map. Kinda like the clown car type thing. He's bigger then the locker but fits somehow. Think that's hilarious and might be something that could make him stronger.

Luckily you only need nine hooks for the adept. You often have players suicide on first hook or second hook. Especially in matches where the killer is doing well enough to get an adept.

I thought Adept was an achievement for 4 killing a team with all three of the killers unique perks. Is there more of a requirement then that?

  • I play both and I'm excited for the changes. Don't know why people can't be a little bit excited for change. Right now I think the game is pretty survivor friendly. If this balances it out why is that a bad thing? People are entitled to have opinions rather then make posts about how the game is unplayable because of a patch.
