The Oni/Blight 180 flicks are exploits and nothing will change that.
They are not intended mechanics.
It might take skill to use them properly but that doesn't make them ok.It's up to the devs to decide whether it's alright to use it or not
That's what i'm saying.
I don't care if people use it, but don't pretend the sky isn't blue and call it "tech" so you don't have to admit you're using an exploit.
It's not debatable, it's categorical.

Blight has the Fatigue Cancel too. Harder to pull off however. Also It's unique to both Oni / Blight like i said, and it's neat as all hell to tell the difference between good blight / oni and bad ones. imho it's like saying Billy should only be locked to a 45 degree angle and nothing more. (this would hurt him severely...)
I say again--
W h a t .

What.
The other side having dumb exploits doesn't make it not a dumb exploit. No quotation marks, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
You can say it's not fair that they have dumb exploits too all day, but at least admit to yourself that the J-Flick is borderline, if not just cheating that should also be thrown out with the rest of the exploits survivors have.

Wait, I enjoy playing against Spirit. Does that mean my brain is omnipresent?
Obviously.
Studying your brain will prove to be the key to discovering the 4th dimension.

Don't #########' swear buddy
But seriously yeah, it makes no sense. You're already dying, who gives a damn? It's like the people who DC literally as the Entity's carrying them up.
All your little baby spite move did is trade in all those points you would've gotten for a clown license.

But have you considered that your brain just isn't omnipresent enough in multiple dimensions to enjoy playing against Spirit?

Again
isn't the whole thing about Blight's charge that it's hard for him to turn

It's so easy to play around my dude, this has nothing to do with fairness, it blocks one hit for fifteen seconds and then they have to go bend for almost the same amount of time that they would have been protected for
Until they stop running it's effectively a full second health state that costs the killer massive time and distance on both survivors-- a survivor needing to take 20 seconds to mend isn't nearly as bad of a time sink as it is for the killer to hit them, chase them after their speed burst, get looped around the pallet they easily made it to, and potentially on and on instead of instantly going down like they normally would have.
Which a survivor will know and be more than happy to invoke by bodyblocking the killer that's trying to ignore them and go for the unhooker, forcing the hit. Even better if they have DS.
All i'm saying is that it's dumb that this perk that's meant to protect you from immediately going down after getting unhooked gets used offensively. Like how DS, a perk that's meant to give you a measure of protection if you're tunneled, more often than not gets used offensively.

I mean, removing all the fun things you can do with perks is definitely going to annoy some people.
Absolutely, but you have to make some concessions for fairness sometimes.
60 seconds of DS while being able to do whatever you wanted is probably pretty fun for a lot of people, but again-- fairness.
-
@Seanzu said:
I struggle to imagine how hard some of you must find killer if Borrowed Time is a perk that you want nerfed, lmao.
People just want the abusable aspect removed.
I doubt people are gonna really mind if it's better at its intended purpose but unable to be used offensively.

Thank you! These guys wanna argue and act like this isn't for kids
It isn't. It, quite genuinely, is not. It's a horror game about fending off animatronics haunted by the souls of either children or an actual #########' serial killer before they murder you by stuffing you into an effective pressurized iron maiden.
It being popular with children is doubly an effect of it being simple and easy to get into and it being popularized by youtubers with a predominantly young fanbase-- IE, purely a matter of circumstance. The animatronics were made with uncanny valley in mind-- but put out of the context of the game, they're pretty dopey-looking because Chuck-e-Cheese-like animatronics are literally meant for kid appeal.
Ratings mean nothing, kids can get into anything. I was playing World at War back in 4th grade and happily blowing the limbs off enemy soldiers without a care in the world, is a WW2 game for kids?
Look, you can find any number of better reasons to not like FNAF. I'll understand. But if you wanna take the wine-tasting critic route of "oh, it's not a horror game, it's for little babies", I invite you to take a trip outside your own ass for a minute and give me the exact pound-for-pound parameters of what you need before you're allowed to be a real horror game.

That's fair enough.
Scott Cawthon, the guy who made FNAF.

Why make a problem worse?
Why do you think it would make anything noticeably worse?
How many of these toxic FNAF gamers do you think are gonna pick up DbD specifically so they can play as Spaptap and actually stick around? How many would even be noticable? Are you gonna chart out a week of pre and post FNAF killer release toxic players and say "yup, there's X more than usual, Scott strikes again"?

I'd say it's not as popular as you think and that I don't want the toxic portion of its fanbase in DbD.
I'd hate to get some poison in my toxin slurry.

@Bwsted said:
I understand the annoyance with that dynamic, but you're looking at it the wrong way.
If they hook bomb like that, they're making a terrible play regardless. They're removing time on hook, allowing you a free hit on the rescuer, possibly a trade and at worst one injured and one in deep wound. That gives you a lot of pressure on two people in the same place without even needing to look for anyone right off the hook.
What you're saying is that you want to always be able to get the hook trade or the slug, which in itself would void the purpose of the perk entirely, even in those situation it was designed for.
BT and DS are the band-aid fixes whose existence prevents DbD from dying along the path of Deathgarden. If the perks in themselves have annoying traits, it's because that mirrors the annoyance of the situations they're trying to address i.e. camping /tunneling.
Also, don't take this the wrong way, but the solution you propose (protection hits disabling BT) effectively makes the perk non-existent given how protection hits work. That hints at the fact that your knowledge of the game is limited and the issue is not so much BT, but your need of more experience in how to deal with BT.
As a side note, if BT should be de-linked from terror radius triggers. But that's a story for another thread.
All I want is for the perk to be used for its intended purpose-- to protect the rescuee and discourage tunneling-- and get rid of the annoying offensive (ab)use of this defensive perk. DS had its offensive uses significantly toned down, and I don't see why we can't do the same for BT whilst preserving the perk's utility.
And I know how to "deal" with BT. The problem is that it's silly that it needs to be dealt with the way that it does.
Me not knowing exactly how protection hits work is my bad and I updated the post accordingly, but I am simultaneously capable of understanding why current BT has some issues and not knowing the exacts of the protection hits mechanic, which are only linked by my silly proposed solution.
Making the leap that i'm not makes it difficult to "not take this the wrong way".

I just unhooked my friend and we run along the wall of the map before I start healing him

@Johnny_XMan said:
On the flip side to that scenario, you have killers who will not leave the hook no matter what (and ESPECIALLY if there is no BT).
I get what you are saying but unless they somehow miraculously figure out and have the game itself know when it is a strat vs an “abuse” on virtually anything... BT can stay the way it is.
Because as it is even DS (which was not strictly an anti tunnel perk, aside from this community deeming it that) still going to not counter hardcore tunneling.
Someone running to me as a killer with BT is just as cheesy as that annoying player roasting s’mores and abusing tunneling because “they can”. Even tho as someone who plays killer, I understand BOTH instances exist.
Well yeah, of course nothing's gonna stop hardcore tunneling. But you can make it a little harder.
@OniWantsYourMacaroni suggested a good way to keep BT how it is while preventing it from being abused (for the most part)-- disable collision with the killer so they can't bodyblock, but make it a flat radius instead of inside TR.
-
Look, i'm all for being Commander Contrarian.
But not wanting a FNAF killer because grr FNAF bad baby fanbase is small brain.
It's a horror franchise. It's popular. It's got good choices. It would be an interesting, new aesthetic. Springtrap would be a perfect fit. Calm down.

A quick look on the wiki says that protection hits happen if you are within 10 meters of an injured survivor, with a lasting effect of a few seconds (I don't know how long exactly) after leaving that radius. If both survivors starting sprinting directly away from each other at normal speeds it takes 1.25 seconds to get 10 meters distance between them. If protection hits has a lasting effect of 5 seconds that's 6.25 seconds that the rescuee can be downed. Even assuming it's 3 seconds still gives us 4.25 seconds at a minimum, which tunneling killers can take advantage of through no fault of the survivors.
I say the better change would be the one suggested by multiple people above saying that the rescuee loses collision. It fixes the annoying aspects without punishing the survivor.
Honestly, I would prefer some perks buffs before nerfing more perks. I feel like BT is not as annoying as current DS is and I think we are due for another round of perk buffs.
Really?
Jesus. Getting WGLF stacks is a lot easier than I thought it was.
That'd make the collision thing a much better idea than the protection hit thing then, yeah. And i'm right there with you, i'd love to see a lot of perks get rescued from the dumpster instead of throwing others in with them, but i'd at least like to take care of the more offensive (in both senses of the word, in some cases) uses of some perks-- like BT and Dead Hard.

The thing is, I'm pretty sure that protection hits can be obtained for at least 5 seconds after you leave your teammate, so you could split up from your teammate straight away and still be knocked down because you're technically taking a protection hit, even though you are not body blocking. The survivor might as well not have BT for at least 5 seconds after being unhooked.
Plus, the rescuee can't prevent the rescuer from running the same way as them, so the rescuee would be punished through no fault of their own.
Additionally, protection hits only activate if you are protecting an injured survivor, so as long as the rescuer is full health the rescuee can bodyblock no problem.
It's a nice idea in theory but it wouldn't work with the games protection mechanics.
Yeah, I don't have the exact details on how protection hits work.
It could be a proximity to your unhooker thing instead, sort of like Blood Pact, I dunno. A lot of people have better ideas than me to make this defensive perk actually defensive.
