My only question is why say it now and not on 13th. This is 6 days apart, almost a week ago.

I think its the time taken to confirm they were hacked, finding the exact number of people affected, fixing it, sending it to PR to write a message to the public....

6 days seems about right.

Yeah that makes sense.

It’s not like it would have been immediately obvious, and would have required extensive investigation to be sure it was a hack.
