But does it block aura reading though?
No, it doesn’t. Meaning its best counter is Nemesis (perk). Hard counters it.

Having to run one situational perk in the chance I’m picked up 60 seconds after being unhooked (and being unable to do anything in the meantime) is unappealing enough. Running two is a gross idea.

So what was this mythical DBD Golden Age actually like?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2827969#Comment_2827969
How? What made it so special?
The game was dark, mist offerings noticeably effected the appearance of the map, and hiding from the killer was actually possible and a viable strategy. It’s really funny because people on the forums these days are always writing topics about ‘gen rushing’. Well, now that all the maps are bright and every hiding place near most generators is gone, there are now killer perks that tell them exactly which gens survivors are on, and hardcore camping and tunneling... what else are survivors supposed to do?
A lot of players were obviously figuring the game out too, which is an element that can never really be brought back. And I don’t think there weren’t broken things back then (like instant gen pops with BNP and instant kill on first down moris), but overall it had this magical grasp on its players. I count myself one of the ones who had the chance to experience it.
-
Because it’s meant to be a map-like perk, without a map. Maps have the ability to show hook auras (with the Red Twine add-on or a Rainbow Map).
I wouldn’t mind adding the ability to see locker auras though.
-
I might be confused. With this add-on, you don’t want to be the obsession; but with Object of Obsession, you do. That’s the only perk it really matters, aside from the BP gained after escaping or dying as the obsession. The OP wants to run unspecified obsession perks without being the obsession, due to this add-on.
That’s all I was getting at.

Not really, if you want to figure out what aura perks the killer have, it can be useful not being the obsession. I don't see other reason for someone not wanting to be the obsession - except the perks you mentioned in the previous comment, but like you said, nobody runs those.
Object will still go off for killer aura reading perks, whether or not you are the obsession. You just have to pay extra attention when the 30-second timer is about to go off.
-
The DbD golden age is long gone, and doesn’t seem to ever be coming back. Unless they out of nowhere decide to revert the atmosphere of the game and make daring balance changes, and very soon.

Except the visual bugs with Victor. It was only killer side. This killer was very balanced and competitive at the same time.
People who blamed Twins for camping just dont know you can crouch and Victor dont detect you..
Twins definitely were not perfect, but of course now they are worse to play as the killer. It’s still however very unfun and unfair to be unable to crush Victor as a survivor while he’s running away in a vulnerable state, and for him to respawn in a meager six seconds. Destroying Victor should have an at least 15 second base respawn.
But Charlotte should be able to recall idle Victor any time, and get a 2% haste when Victor is detached. Victor should not be able to be crushed after a successful pounce as well. I feel these are good changes for both sides.
-
@tesla said:
Can you give an example? Like you want to play Object of Obsession without being the obsession?
There’s also Decisive Strike, Mettle of Man, and Sole Survivor that all increase your odds of being the obsession. You obviously would want to be the obsession if running OoO.

So survivors need buffs? Since they “are nothing” without one perk not all of them use?

With the obsession that the forums has with Scott Jund I would find it unlikely this wasn't inspired by that.
Scott’s video said nothing about specific game issues, nor did he encourage some mass exodus. He even said he will most likely come back for new content. I see no relation.

DS is supposed to be the anti-tunnel perk. BT is anti-camp. Rewarding a camping killer with multiple guaranteed hook trades isn't fulfilling the purpose of the perk and rewards a low-effort, boring strategy.
Sorry but BT is not anti-camp. Old BT was. It does nothing to assist getting past a camping killer. The only anti-camp perk options survivor have right now are Kindred and Camaraderie.

Overcome should only proc if a health state is lost, so from injured to Healthy - anything else definitely sounds like a bug to me (of course QA would be the better judges of that), it's definitely worth making a bug report on it, if you've got video of that happening, the video is so helpful in showing the issues.
Just a small correction - I believe you meant from healthy to injured!

I thought it currently did trigger when a survivor was put into deep wound? But apparently it isn’t applying exhaustion properly when that does happen.
There was some discussion about overcome + deep wound here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/309227/pc-using-overcome-with-endurance-does-not-give-exhaustion
No, it doesn’t. And the link you provided was to a bug report where a mod confirms it’s not meant to function with deep wounds (endurance status effect).

@ThiccBudhha said:
What maps aren't survivor sided? You should just appreciate the visuals as competent survivors will crush you on any map, and you can crush the inept ones on any map. To that end, Eerie is very pretty and visual distinct from the rest of the maps. A great addition.
Wrecker’s Yard, Wretched Shop, and depending on how it plays out, Suffocation Pit and Azarov’s Resting Place can be auto losses for survivor.
-
@Notionless said:
I dont think it will influence that perk at all. Bt will be the most often case thatll come into play, and most killers already breathe down survs necks if they truly want to tunnel off hook.
Exactly, which will punish that even harder.

Not as niche as having to pallet stun the killer.

I didn't think it reduced the stun in the past, hence my question.
You are correct, so either it is a bug or shadow buff.
-
I too wish they had gone the route of making it hits with Punishment of the Damned, instead of keeping it caging survivors. But at least they did halve the amount of cages needed to two, and that was just a few weeks ago. It probably won't get changed ever again; but if it is, not for a very long time.
-
Really happy when I get it as a survivor, exact opposite as a killer. 'nuff said.
-
As a survivor main I’m actually perfectly fine with the idea - but only if camping and tunneling pre-end game are addressed as well.

I have no problems with that at all. Honestly other than the controls on DbD Mobile being tough to deal I like other things it does that I kind of wish the PC dev team would find a way to bring over.
It would also solve the issue of people being mismatched due to lobby dodging. In other words: don’t queue for a match if you’re not ready to play, and against people of your MMR.
-
@dugman said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2821499#Comment_2821499
To be fair I think it’s the making everybody wait the full minute to start the match because the survivor thinks they’re pulling a smooth trick by doing a last second switch to a flashlight or whatever that’s the annoying part.
Well, then switch it to the DbD Mobile lobby. No one is waiting or last second switching. And solo queue survivors finally get some decent pre-game information about their teammates. Sounds like everyone wins to me!

It's not any different. They play dirty, and they get a dirty response. What I don't understand is why you think I'm wrong for answering scummy game tactics with scummy game tactics.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2822595#Comment_2822595
I don't "so, so wish" anything. I play survivor, too, almost as much as killer, and I have to make sure I have Netflix up on my tablet for the lobby.
Sometimes the queue is instant (especially during the day), but other times I have to wait 10-20 minutes between matches. I'm not really a big fan of that.
Queues are almost always instant for killer, though, unless a new killer was just released the day before.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2822597#Comment_2822597
Pre-loaded a flashlight? What's that supposed to mean?
If someone switched to a flashlight with 40 seconds left, fine; I won't target them unless they're being obnoxious. I don't know what you mean by "pre-loaded a flashlight you won't know about". I'm really only going after someone if they switched to it in the last 5-10 seconds of the lobby and it looks like they were doing their best to catch me off-guard.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2822615#Comment_2822615
Enjoy your four-man slug. Chances are I switched to Franklin's, anyway.
I suggested earlier we go to the DbD Mobile format, where players cannot change their load out after they queue. Survivor or killer. So you would be put into a lobby, and assuming it finds all four survivors quickly, have five seconds to see their items before the loading screen. And you said you had no problem with the idea.
-
@dugman said:
The devs never said they think Bubba literally facecamping is “a cool strategy”. In fact they explicitly said they think actual face camping is an issue if people think it’s a viable way to win because it leads to a dull gameplay for both the killer and the survivor stuck on hook for two minutes, and that they’ve experimented internally with ways to incentivize not face camping but hadn’t found a practical solution that didn’t break something else in the game.
So they don’t think actual facecamping is cheating or bannable, etc, but they also want the game itself to steer killers away from doing it to promote more active styles.
A dev is literally quoted as labeling Insidious Bubba "a dangerous strategy". And he was not referring to it being dangerous for the survivors.

That feeling when you have zero hours on survivor.

Don't know why killer should earn there only second chance perk when survs have them without earning them. Oh and nice touch how you choose the time specifically so you can 99 the door sit out noed and then rush the hook with your swf for the nice 4e so the m1 killer can't do ######### about it
Because killer is the power role and supposed to control the flow of the match. Killers have their chance up until the fifth gen pop to stop survivors, and of course more chances after that. NOED requires zero killer skill, but also zero input.
To use a survivor second chance perk, they either become exhausted, get hit quickly after an unhook, use a one-time use perk (that require killer slugging or tunneling), or earn it by completing their primary objective.
NOED? Just have at least one dull totem somewhere on the map. Congratulations.

I also like how the in-game report menu is encouraging you to make invalid reports. One of the categories lists ragequits as something you should report, but that's actually wrong. It's handled automatically.

But its the intention like changing toolbox for keys.
Yeah, the intention is to not show your hand. Just like any smart person would do for an advantage over an opponent. Particularly with flashlights, no point revealing them early when killers have a perk that literally 100% counters them and punishes you for trying to use them for their only function (save Hag, Wraith, Nurse, and Artist).

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2821628#Comment_2821628
What point are you trying to make, then? Are camping/tunneling toxic, or aren't they? Why should a survivor be angry with me for doing something that the devs have explicitly said isn't an exploit?
What do you think that I think that I'm "entitled" to?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2821653#Comment_2821653
There is no reason why they should freely advertise anything to me or make the game easier for me in any way. They can do what they want.
...And so can I. Right?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2821687#Comment_2821687
Nope. No rules. Survivors are perfectly free to switch to a flashlight at the last second in the lobby, just as they are perfectly free to enjoy the view of my face from the hook.
I mean, you're perfectly free to run to the second story of your house and jump out a window. There's no rule against that. I still highly recommend against trying it, because even though there's no rule that says you can't, that doesn't mean you shouldn't consider the potential consequences of your actions. Certain actions can lead to pain.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2821728#Comment_2821728
I have no problem with this idea.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2821815#Comment_2821815
The only perk I'll target someone for is CoH, just because it makes the game exponentially easier if that survivor dies. I won't target someone because they stun me, but I might if they flash a flashlight in my face at every pallet and/or keep screwing up my hooks.
I don't usually target people for cleansing hexes, but if I run a hex-heavy build, and they're all gone in less than a minute, sometimes I experience that weird game-crashing bug I've seen some people here talk about. Awful thing, that.
So you wouldn’t facecamp and tunnel if the survivor pre-loaded a flashlight you won’t know about until the match is loading? Even though the result is the same as last second switching?
-
@pizzavessel15 said:
you do realize noed used to be on a 120 second timer and was changed. what makes you think 80 seconds is better?
Because 80 is two thirds of 120? You can’t camp someone to death from their first hook to death hook in 80 seconds. If you’re not fast enough, it won’t even last a full hook state. Plus, it’s only 80 seconds if fully earned under this model.
-
No, this is just weird. Besides, not every map has the same layout for this to be applied well. I want the perk changed like most people, but not like this.

You have no idea why they switched to a flashlight. For the sake of argument though, let's say they did it so you couldn't try to counter it. So what? They have no idea what they are facing. Why should they freely advertise to you what they're doing?
Exactly this. Perhaps base game DbD would benefit to switch to the mobile lobby. Once all five players are found, match starts in five seconds. Neither side can switch anything. I don’t like every aspect of it, but it’s better than all the lobby dodging and crying we have to deal with now in the base game.

No.

When even your reporting system needs a rework, you know it has to be BHVR.

Flashlights are the weakest and easiest countered item in the game. This is your daily reminder.

Yeah the reason is because im Not Good lol ok than PLZ tell me what i can do when the Match Starts and 3 Gens Pop in 30 seconds and i just get 1 Hook? U cant do anything about it Gens are to fast if u play against sweaty SWF Teams
If three gens pop in the first 30 seconds, you need to record and submit that to BHVR. Because that’s only possible if someone is cheating. Otherwise, exaggeration doesn’t help your case.

As an avid DbD mobile player, I would rather have a disconnect or match cancellation than bots. The survivor AI is no good, they just hide from the killer (even if it means you lose hook states/die on hook) and don't do gens. They fail skill checks constantly, won’t repair gens unless you let them heal you first, and if they do survive to end game, open the exit gate and immediately leave. They seriously just meander around 90% of the time. It's not fun to watch at all.
Meanwhile, the killer AI will never not be able to find you and will not relent in chase from you. The only redeeming quality is that they can be infinitely 360'd, which is irritating to put up with though.
Disconnects are simply part of DbD, don't see why there should be a penalty at all. If someone doesn't want to play in a match, they won't. Even if they can't DC, they'll AFK, or even worse, troll their team. People who don't want to be in a match anymore will just DC and play another game. So the penalty actually encourages people to not play DbD and go play other games, ironically enough.
