Mr. Envy should be selected to have his Nurse chase theme officially established in DBD

    https://youtu.be/bSzO6bq7VsE

See music like this is more scary and should be in the game, but im sure they will just throw nurse in with the war drum trend.

  • Making the DLC 9000 shards each is a little too much too, maybe 9000 shards for the whole DLC Survivor + Killer, that wouldn't be so bad.

  • This post needs more attention.

  • Christ, DBD is a free to play game isnt it, but you pay for it. Damn this game really is hitting the fan.

    Why nerf perks like:

    • Discordance, which was fine as is.
    • Huntress Lullaby, which is pretty useless already.
    • Pop goes the Weasel, which is pretty fine already.
    • Thanataphobia, which was bad already. (honestly philosophy behind the change i agree with, but the numbers bump wasn't enough)

Why nerf Pyramid Head who is B tier at best?

Why give useless perks useless buffs like:

    • Cruel limits, which will stay useless
    • Slippery Meat, which will stay useless
    • Technician, which will stay useless
    • Mindbreaker, which will stay useless
    • Forced Penance, which will stay useless

    Why not rework killers like:

    • Nurse (Who is OP)
    • Spirit (Who is unfun)
    • Deathslinger (Who is unfun, which btw you are leaving him as is but nerfed PH even though their complaints are the same?)

    Why not nerf perks like:

    • Dead Hard
    • Decisive Strike
    • DS + UB combo
    • Hex Undying + Ruin Combo
    • NOED (which is unfun)

Why not fix moris and keys?

Like i get it, i really do, you have priorities. But much of this list has been a problem for a LONG time.

    • Decisive Strike has been a problem since it's release back in The current version has been a problem since APRIL 2019
    • DS + UB has been a problem since April 2019.
    • Moris have been a problem forever
    • Keys have been a problem forever
    • NOED has been a problem for literally ever
    • Nurse has been a problem since her release, and shes one of the original 5!!
    • Spirit has been a problem since release
    • Deathslinger has been a problem since release March 2020
    • All of the useless perks i have listed have been useless since release, and many we even TOLD YOU BEFORE THE PATCH CAME OUT that they were useless, yet nothing was done for them.
    • The "buffs" for the useless perks keep them just as useless

I kinda like the new mind breaker, definitely a step up now that it affects gens at all times. Other than that you are pretty much spot on.

  • I never faced any op PH as survivor anyways, and now I probably wont play him as often anymore and I didnt play him that much to begin with.

  • If you want, this update is nothing special.

  • I liked the old freddy but he was pretty weak as a killer, maybe they will add another killer in the future that works similarly.

As killer, you have to know its there, and then your only option is to bait it. That's not balanced, it's stupid. Might be fun for survivors, not so much for killer.

I've never thought head on was op and im a killer main, but thats just me I guess.

If you dont know it's there, it's a free stun. Baiting it is the only thing you can do, and sometimes that doesnt work. I'm not saying its op, just a poorly designed perk without much counter play.

I think Head On is an amazing perk and its one of the best balance perks, its fun to use and not OP. Unless you are only using this video to show that its poorly designed. Its vigil that made this video possible.

Nah. I don’t think I will. I don’t know what it is about killer mains on these forums but they legit take everything up the A hole.

Bro I'm a killer main but I agree with you everyone is a little to uptight here

I am coming more and more to the conclusion that reading something here in the forum is just a waste of time.

Mimimi here, Report Report there, more penalties here, less penalties there.

Just the complaint management alone makes sure that in my opinion a significant number of the players behave like little children.

God! Children, it's a game. You should leave it at that.

I agree, the game is alright but the community is god awful complaining about everything, but I mean it doesn't help when BHVR puts out a couple decent updates a year.

They tried that in the very first PTB but it was quickly exploited by survivors, so it was removed.

That backs my point up, thanks for the info <3

  • Community is toxic and whiney + BHVR is slow, kind of a recipe for disaster. BHVR is ok on their end, its the community that blows them out of proportion and makes it seem like they are awful at what they do, which is a little true to some extent.

  • Even if you did add some kind of hook timer pause when the killer is camping that would mean survivors can rush the hook with no disadvantages, they can just loop around the hook and the survivor wont die.

I agree winning doesnt equal fun. However a match like this, while i wouldn't want to see it every game, to me would be fun. No sweating. No worrying about gens. Just chase down rinse repeat.

It's a farming match. Just more entertaining.

I agree that matches like these would be fun and I don't understand why it is such a big deal that they are not fun or "toxic", am I the only one who agrees with you?

  • @Warcrafter4 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1690399#Comment_1690399

First. The survivors weren't doing their objective while also trying to stop the killer from doing theirs with their annoy the killer strat.

Time scale doesn't matter as the survivors were stalling for the sake of annoying the killer effectively holding the game hostage. Not to a report worthy degree mind you but still can be considered griefing.

Second. stuns are one of the most hated effects in video games because they stop you from playing. The killer got stunned 33 times with at least 2 missed head on stuns by the survivors.

So the clown probably wasn't having fun by getting hit by something that is near universally hated 33+ times.

Its a game bro, if you are calling this match a waste of time what is the difference between any other match. No gens are getting done so why are you stressing? You can't kill anyone? Oh well if you think its that much of a waste of time DC and go play something else. These guys are just having fun if you wanna "report" them for that then just get a life.

  • @Warcrafter4 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1690369#Comment_1690369

its simple: They effectively held the game hostage to annoy/troll the killer for 16 minutes?

Also your falling for the False Equivalence fallacy

    Winning =/= to fun.

Bruh if I got this game as killer I would find it funny, you don't come by something like this that often, and what do you mean "held hostage"? What are you going to rage quit because you can't kill everyone in 5 minutes?

  • You might want to get used it my mans, nothing you can do besides try to have fun.

  • None :( but if I had to choose either Hag or Hillbilly I don't really play either and don't really care to face them.

Well the thing is having an offering that completely changes the game as it's supposed to be is not in any way healthy for the game. Same with keys being a complete free escape, very unhealthy for the game.

I don't think having offerings that change the game is bad at all, it creates new and interesting outcomes, its just that moris are a little abusable and should be adjusted accordingly same with keys.

  • @SquillDBD said:

No. The simple change is to just delete mori offerings and make the cypress mori core game so the killer has an opportunity to mori in every match if they 4k.

I like the idea of core kit cypress mori, but I don't think getting rid of moris all together would be a great idea they just need a touch up is all.

  • This does look like a fun game, I don't know what people are talking about bully squad. If they are not touching gens and just having a good time and not being toxic why is that bullying? I swear some of yall don't know how to have fun.

  • I feel like death slinger on console would be one of the hardest to play.

  • BHVR is doing an "Ok" job they are not failing or succeeding which I think is the most frustrating part cause it gives people the feeling that nothing is being done with the game. Who knows maybe in the next year or so they will step it up and actually push out hearty good content consistently.

  • It will be disappointing, only gunna play it for the extra BP and thats about it.

  • @Ryan489x said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1688727#Comment_1688727

It's not even that though, any balance that they could do on either side would be met with "WHAT I can't do this anymore and get away with it?"

"Change it back now!" ect. This goes for both killer and survivor. I've heard that many things that have been used to help survivors and killers have just been abused and removed as a result.

    • stop hook regression if the killer is too close? good idea, oh wait lets just loop the killer near the hook so my friend never dies
    • They're back but, Lets have a penalty for rage quitters who ruin trials? good idea, oh wait, people can just hack accounts and give people insane ban timers

No matter what change they make in an attempt to balance out the game there will always be people that hate it with a burning passion

I run into that problem a lot where you say "just do this" but then it will create a "but what about this" and shut it down. So ive given up on in depth balance and just think the game needs massive changes rather than small ones across the board.

"I have no idea what makes you say that SWFs never remain casual. It also doesn't make any difference how long a SWF plays together, really. Either you're a good player and can call out information well, or you're not. Either that's something you like to do while playing in SWF, or it isn't."

Experience, direct and firsthand both as a Survivor in a SWF and as a Killer who fights them daily, gives me the knowledge to say this. Practice makes perfect, and Survivors in a SWF get better with each match. Experience aside, this is also commonsense. The fact that you want to pretend it is either there at the start or it isn't makes me wonder about your motives.

"This is extreme exaggeration. Object by itself gives you more info than a typical SWF would (with the drawback of being terrible in solo queue, but still)."

No, it is not an exaggeration. Every Player in a SWF using the 5th Perk (Comms) has all the information provided by his/her teammates as if they had the Perks themselves. This allows them to maximize information gathering Perks. So instead of just having four Perks, they each have a bonus of any other information gathering Perks held by their buddies. On top of that there is the interactive, real-time updates on where the Killer is currently located, if the Killer is setting traps, which Generators are near completion, and so on, etc. Likewise, there is the instant lowdown on a Totem spotted that someone cannot reach (for whatever reason) which can be handed off to a teammate by just telling them. When the Hatch becomes visible, and one person spots it, they all will share that too. The now infamous OoO is particularly useful to a SWF on the right maps where the "Spotter" can call out generalized areas of the map (or specific) by terrain or sometime something as simple as "he is upstairs" or he is "downstairs". Are you picking up what I'm putting down. Exaggeration? Hardly.

"What makes you say that? I often play in two or three-man SWFs and this is something that we absolutely never do. It's not advantageous to the group to let your teammates die unless it's like a basement hook / NOED situation."

I've seen this firsthand as the Killer and had it happen to me multiple times. My own group, when we were doing SWF had to stop what we were doing when we realized this was happening on an unconscious level and make sure that we started to include the Red Shirt as an equal. More to the point, I've been talking to and listening to a GROWING number of Solo players complaining about this very thing. Perhaps the most telling is nobody works that hard to get the Red Shirt down before they go into phase two (if at all).

"Splitting the game into two separate queues for solo queue and SWF would kill the game. Killers would never want to play in the SWF queue or, if there were an incentive to play against SWF, they would only do so while bringing their Iri Head / Infantry Belt / Ebony Mori and the like. I'm also just against changing the game balance such that SWFs need to be communicating well and sweating their balls off in order to do well. Many SWFs do not do that, and will instead perform poorly because they play too altruistically and will have a wider range of skill levels in their squad. Punishing people for playing with their friends is just going to kill the game."

I hear this last ditch defense often, and it has no validity. We have no idea what it would do. People always say this whenever ANY changes happen and the game is still here. If I had a nickel for every time someone has said "this will kill the game" or "this is killing the game" or "I think DbD is dying" I would be a very wealthy man indeed. I might actually buy some cosmetics. Judging by past evidence, no, it would not kill the game. In fact, it might actually revitalize it with Solos being able to play without being strangled and not getting run off, and eventually graduating into their own SWF. Nobody is talking about punishing people who play with friends. We are talking about balancing it. It is a competitive edge, and it needs to be compensated.

"Most balance issues that exist with SWF should be addressed by MMR. If you sweat like crazy in a premade of good players, you'll just be matched up with a disproportionate amount of god Nurses and Stridor Spirits."

No, they will not be addressed by the MMR. Why? Because the MMR is a matchmaking system that cannot measure the impact of the 5th Perk (Comms). That is something entirely outside the game. If a SWF is not somehow marked and known to the system, it cannot compensate. The only way for the MMR to take note and address that is if Teams are somehow registered, recognized, and there can be matched as a GROUP to the appropriate Killer. What you are saying is nonsense, and I think you know that.

What is this from? Or did you just make this?

  • I don't think there is any buffs or nerfs in the world that can improve DBD in its current state, I think we need a core gameplay overhaul for that to happen. Something that adds new mechanics or something to mix it up, but we all know thats way to much work for BHVR.

  • I don't enjoy it or hate it, I HATE facing survivors that turn on "ultra hacker man sweat mode" but that doesn't always mean they are SWF.

  • @WestX said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/198438/dbd-is-not-scary-and-not-because-we-play-so-much-of-it

I think one of the things that hurts the horror factor is that its rare for a killer to be able to directly kill the Survivors(Outside of Mori's) and the game seems to try to avoid "Gore" or being "Gruesome". Many of the kills that the killers can perform barely even look brutal, and its not helped by the game having very mediocre and goofy looking blood. When I see a guy shove a chainsaw in my characters chest and pull it up, and nothing changes on the character model, not a single thing along with spurts of what looks more like ketchup, I'm not scared or intimidated at all, in fact it almost looks comical. The only kill that looks kind of fine is the Hag Mori, which still suffers from the zero change in character model , but does have such brutality it could be intimidating atleast.

I understand part of the reasoning that likely goes into No Gore or Gruesome kills. It probably saves the devs a ######### ton of time not having to model all that, but it completely ruins the spirit of these kills. This is a horror game, not 5 Nights at Freddy's. Seeing so many iconic killers basically just kill people by slapping them with a wiffle bat ruins the immersion and any real horror.

When I play Pyramid Head and I slam my giant ass knife down on a person, I expect to see some damage, hell I expect to see them cut into 2 pieces, not to see a squirt of Ketchup and no damage at all.

So tldr, Rare to see direct kills, kills look like they were made safe for children to see.

I do wish they had more intense gore in Dbd but something I dont know what is blocking them from doing so

Didn't you open this whole thing by saying DbD is scary for the first 100 hours? Which is it?

And you are genuinely missing the point: Scary stops being scary when you are familiar. What you are asking for is the Devs to magically wipe your memory.

You didn't read, I said dbd should be scary AFTER the first 100 hours not only for the first 100.

  • Give it a year or two, maybe it will be an okay game then.

  • @MadLordJack said:

Play Alien: Isolation or Until Dawn for 100 hours and tell me that they are still scary.

It really is just exposure. That's all. The themes are there, this is a horror game, but as with literally everything scary we adapt to it, because "Scary" and "Unfamiliar" are the same thing in human minds.

My point was that dbd was not a fixed experience there are many different variables in dbd that have potential to scare you, whether it be different killers with different add-ons or different audio design, but my point is that they do it very poorly, dbd was never that scary to begin with. Alien isolation and Until dawn are mostly fixed experience which makes them predictable once you have watched them or played them multiple times but at least they are scary the first time or so you play them.

I have many friends that have gotten dbd in the past 6 months and ALL of which say dbd is not scary with an exception of one of them saying chases are a little scary.

  • @ZaKzan said:

removing the terror radius and removing the red stain would make the game much scarier. It would have to be jump scares because everything else people would get desensitized to. Just overall removing survivors' ability to gain information from the match would be much scarier and anxiety promoting. I get a jumpscare on those rare occasions when i spring a hag trap or a stealth killer is able to sneak up on me.

But this game is not designed to be scary, it's designed to be frustrating, as pointed out by Cote. So instead of working on the fear spectrum, which would increase anxiety, the game works on the anger spectrum, increasing frustration.

    https://youtu.be/YCc4SU-NSW4?t=578

This breeds toxicity, in a single player game frustration is fine, but in a multiplayer exclusive game frustration only encourages toxic behavior. Bad game design if you ask me.

  • @pseudechis said:

One of the big kickers when it comes to dulling down the scare factor, is things that make the killer scary, insta downs, jump scares, good stealth or ability to shutdown player's attempts to evade them, get complained about more than anything else.

When I play survivor, I like facing the killers than can pop out of nowhere, shut down loops quickly and generally make me sweat it makes the game scary.

The principle argument about these things are they are boring to play against or there is no counter play.

People don't seem to want scary, they want generic... and any horror survival scenario will suffer in the scare factor as a result.

    I completely agree.

  • DBD is not a fixed experience and should have moments of unexpected scares that would even scare veteran players. DBD isn't focused on making the theme and gameplay for DBD around scaring people (they already think they nailed it) but its around rather a cat and mouse game where the "scare" or "horror" comes from the chase which would be scary but the game does not emphasize it enough to make it feel terrifying to run from a killer. It's not that after 100 hours you are not scared of chases, its a few matches.

  • I have no problem with it, but it seems like you heavily regret saying that. I doubt you will get banned, there is a possibility but a very small one.

Just remember to try to have fun while playing games and don't let toxic people get to you.

  • I love camping personally, playing defensive can be fun sometimes especially while feeling trolly. But I do hate being camped as a survivor which over weighs my time playing killer. I wish hooks and such would be changed not nerfed to make the game more interesting for both sides and less frustrating.

  • The only problem is the first gen, usually free in most games. Killers cant do anything about it.

  • I think ds is fine but abusable, kinda annoying facing it every match though.

  • Loops with no mindgame are pretty annoying to face as killer, and feel cheap as survivor. Would be a nice change, maybe add something else to replace them though because they help playing survivor a ton.

  • Corey in the House and Toy Story are pretty good.

  • Gen speeds are not the problem, its the start of the game that is. Survivors usually get a "free" gen right off the bat, which feels unfair for the killer since he/she could not do anything to prevent such a gen from being completed in the first 30 sec of the game.

  • I saw this as a killer, the Ace was trying to open the hatch but it wouldn't open. Respectively I killed him, but I still feel bad for the poor Ace :(

  • Game is a waste of time in reality

  • Sounds about right

    Gotta pay to grind
