This would be amazing

It is a Player vs Players game. Of course it will be competitive. No one likes to lose(die on hook/get no kills). Sadly i find that when i play survivor it's extremely relaxed and such and i do absolutely fine. As killer though, against some groups i have to either sweat hard or get gen rushed and tbagged/looped the entire match.
I agree to an extent, but I find survivor boring most of the time and killer stressful or frustrating most of the time
-
I would love for them to get more creative with map design, something like a mineshaft or jungle, or even something more modern like a shopping mall or a cruise ship.
-
He does require skill and focus, similar to the nurse but he does not give as much as a reward for the risky playstyle.
-
Dead By Daylight Esports players up in here
-
Probably not, it will be strong on some killers but not all.
-
The simple way to put dbd is survivor is too boring and killer is too stressful, these problems are deep down the rabbit hole and dont see any vision of that changing anytime soon

I meet a lot of new people in the game, it's probably the worst experience for them, as it is for me.🤣
Rankings don't mean anything though.
I agree on that ranks really dont matter, I hit rank 1 survivor not too long ago and still get stomped, really dont feel like I should be rank 1 :/
-
Man hes a pro already? O_O couldnt imagine the power he would have at rank 1

You pretty much NEED certain perks in order to do well at this game. All of which take a buttload of time to get to teachable point for all Survivors and Killers, some of which stuck behind a pay wall or mostly unobtainable till they become purchasable once in a blue moon via bloodpoints
The grind makes it harder for new players to get into dbd. It punishes them and rewards the dinosaurs who enjoy nothing better than stomping all over their new potential player base to the detriment of the health, well being and future of their -own- game.
Sad but true.
The pay wall is another thing, back when the game had 1 or 2 dlcs it was fine but with over half of the game being dlc, its a tad bit ridiculous. If the game didnt have the strong competitive nature and meta it wouldn't be such a problem. One of my friends didnt even know about buying the killers or survivors in game with iri shards until he was like level 40 too.

I've had this problem before where I am red rank and my friends just started playing or green ranks, they were not happy to get a red rank killer due to me being a rank 1.
Suffering from Success pretty much.
Can't really do anything about it, you can perhaps convince some your friends to play the game enough so they reach purple / red ranks so they can play with you.
You can always look for more people to play with you with the same skill. It might be awkward at first but trust me, there are people out there feeling lonely as well, and once you've played with them once or twice, they'll be looking forward to play with you next time as well, just because they have someone to talk with.
If the content creator you like, has a discord server, you might find people there to play with as well. Or, you can always come in the Forums and I think there's a section to look for people to play with. There's also the good ol' reliable steam discussions or steam groups. Just a couple of examples or so to help you out.
All it takes is the will to do it
Thanks bro, I'll probably wait for mmr or something instead, my friends like dbd but not enough to keep coming back to it right now.

You are wrong then. The green slow down add on is 4% slow down when asleep and the purple one is 2% per sleeing survivor.
i meant like stacking dying light thana with the pink and purple add on, im also not saying it unbeatable or anything, just saying its very hard to go against when you and your friends are just having fun

Getting friends to play with you in DBD is one of the biggest achievements. It's even better if they decide to stay.
What rank are you ?
i started playing with my friends at rank 20, but i played the most so i got to rank 1 eventually and they are like 4,9,16,17,18 ranks

Is this a joke? If he has literally every single person asleep and his best slow down add ons it's only a 12% slow down. You realize that is weaker than a Prove Thyself right? This is EVERYONE being asleep btw, every person awake it's 2% weaker, so you can bet it's likely only going to ever be a 6% slow down at any given time from his add ons. Explain to me how you think a 6-12% slow down needs a nerf?
im pretty sure there is more than that

But survivor is the power role, didn't you know? :')
lol at high ranks I can see that, but it would be nice to have fun at all ranks, im a killer main with about 500 hours in killer and know how awful it is as killer, but playing survivor is just as bad, starting to think the game is just not balanced for high ranks
-
Ive been playing with my friends who recently got the game (about a month ago) and im not trying to play to win, more so to have fun and I can say getting stomped by a "entitled" or "sweat" killer is really frequent and kinda kills the vibe
-
@Tricks said:
Rather than "nerf this nerf that omg no counter boring op killer" here's how to counter Freddy:
- Always wake yourself up when you go to sleep as top priority over every other objective
- Listen for the wind and if you cant hear blood pouring from a near by gen your safe to go about your business
That's all you need to do.
Aura reading perks that help with stealth work well against him too the same with any other Killer:
- Kindred to know where he is near a hooked Survivor at long range
- Spine Chill to know where he is at short range
- Alert (to know where he is everywhere else
The best solution when you find a problem you cant beat in any situation is to see things from the problems point of view to learn it's weaknesses then go back with what you learned and adapt those lessons to the problems solution.
Sorted.
yeah but what about solo survivor, or just playing to have fun. game feels a little busted at times
-
I see the switch as a arcade console, just for games you want to sit and relax with. Too bad dbd is nothing near a fun game to "unwind" to
-

Wouldn't it be cool to have a killer that moved at 130% movement speed and could insta down any survivor, but the killer is blind and would have something like echo location and would see in pulses but wouldn't see survivors unless they moved near them.
Crouched 1 meters visibility, Crouched moving 3 meters visibility
Walking 6 meters visibility, Running 16 meters visibility
The killer would have killer instinct on those detected through walls
Survivors would glow if seen by the killer within range
Just looked it up and yeah something similar to that
-
No idea what that is
-
I play both quite a lot and must say that at lower ranks of course the killer is going to dominate, but at the higher ranks its pretty much opposite.
-
Huntress and Bubba
-
The map can be a bit deceiving for nurse with all the random objects around the map, it is too cluttered and in result the nurse has a hard time on the map.

Camping and tunnelling are both valid strategies the killer COULD utilize. The devs have said this before. Is it fun to play against? No, we all hate to go against it, but the only options are to figure out how to counter it, or just move on to the next match.
Also there is an underlying issue with this. During this time they don't enter second phase or die on hook, if they could be unhooked, theoretically they would have a chance at never dying because someone could save them in that 20 seconds before death hook
That is a good point.
-
@Carlosylu said:
There's a huge problem with this, I hook someone, someone dumb enogh INSTA-UNHOOKS without giving me the time to go away, I down them both, why didn't they run BT or DS? I don't know, I'm the killer, doing my job. I don't camp or tunnel, but if you play this dumb I'm making sure you learn the mistake by downing you right there, I'm not letting you both go just cause.
True, maybe its just me but I feel really bad for the person on the hook most of the time when that happens, and when im playing survivor it feels really unfair especially since you weren't the one who unhooked yourself and not all people run ds /bt all the time

give them for example the lobby animations/taunt they do before a match starts, it's wuite boring to see the character foor 5 seconds with a camera rotating and they dont do anything.
if they had different animations, I thought things like demo appearing from the floor with a portal thant then dissappears, pyramid taking his sword from a cage, trapper picking up a trap from the floor, freddy spawning slowly with the animation he has in the mori of reappearance, ghostface taking a selfie, ...
With the graphical update they should be reworking or even making brand new animations, just hope to see them soon! It would be a breath of fresh air seeing more polish to the game.

I agree that huntress can be very strong with iridescent head but noed does not really do much for a good huntress.

Change 2 man gen speed.
Why is there such a massive boost from one survivor doing a gen to two survivors doing a gen, and any more after that add almost nothing?
Currently gens go from 80 seconds solo to 47 seconds duo so basically halving the time a gen takes.
Why isn't is more gradual like 80-65-47-36?
Gen speeds getting "nerfed" would mean that low rank survivors would suffer, while making the top survivors have more of a challenge. The point is that killers are op at low ranks while generally under-performing at top play.
-
They mentioned in the anniversary stream that they will be adding something similar to the endgame collapse but at the start of a match, hopefully this makes gen speeds feel more fair for the killers side. Only patience and hope my friend fingers crossed

@Waffleyumboy said:
Killers can keep camping and tunneling as long as they stop crying about seeing a DS or BT every game. What did you think was going to happen when you used the hook mechanic to your advantage, survivors were just going to roll over and let you? Perks are fine, strategies are fine, only real problem is actual toxicity but that's rare and bannable.
I really hope these problems become less apparent when mmr gets fixed, one can only hope

@Mozzie said:
So I agree with both sides of this argument. On one hand survivors need methods to slow down and stun killers, on the other running around an ambulance in circles until finally dropping a conveniently placed pallet in the middle of a street looks absolutely ridiculous.
The balance between these ideas is that pallets should be replaced with other items within the environment. Hit a killer with an item to make them stunned and if it's a really good item and a well placed hit get a longer stun and even fall down steps. Barricade off a door with a couch that the killer has to slowly break through. Ya know, the things you'd actually see in a horror movie, not a looney tunes cartoon. The reality is none of that would ever happen in this game. It's growing long in the tooth by now and this change would require the making of many more interactive assets across all maps and isn't going to give what these developers want....more money.
I like the creativity! I agree I don't think looping is horrible and should be deleted but maybe overhauled or alternatively replaced with new ways of hiding, running, and stalling the killer.

@LaBPedro said:
So, I was driven away by the toxicity of this game about 4 months ago, came back this week and if anything it's got worse.....and getting called a camper, despite everyone that was hooked, getting unhooked multiple times. I then get friends request throwing insults. All because I didn't follow your rules that you've made up in your head
I might as well just delete this altogether and be done with it.
This game is in a bad spot and probably will be for a while, do yourself a favor and find something else. Monstrum 2 is coming out which would be a fun replacement.

@LSerpentine said:
I've seen some people say 3k = a win, others say a straight 4k. To me, its 2k as killer.
In terms of survivor I think even one person escaping is a win tbh.
I'm curious what you guys think is a win.
having fun.

Death threats and salty language is inappropriate. However, throwing a tantrum and rage quitting the game online is no different from upending the table when you are mad about a game in the real world. It is the behavior of spoiled children. It is disrespectful to your fellow players, the community at large, and the game itself. If you are the kind of person who Rage Quits frequently (rather than a rare bad day thing) perhaps you don't have the temperament for this hobby. To quote Dalton in Road House, "There is always Barber College."
I don't rage quit often but I understand the frustration and should stop doing it, but I don't see how it makes someone eligible for death threats or harsh language, it seems every time I did dc I would be flocked with these people. I do expect people to be mad but isn't it hypocritical to call someone short tempered when they themselves get mad and throws a tantrum when someone rage quits from the game?
-
@Khar said:
It's looked down upon because of how much it can negatively impact the match, be it killer or survivor. If you're finding yourself rage quitting often, however, you might consider the option of taking a breath from the game. It's easy to keep hitting 'Ready' to search for a new match, but if you're not having fun then do not put yourself through more needless stress. This game has so many faults and you need to know that you don't have to endure it.
Thanks, I guess your right, I need a break from this game. I apologize for not seeing the bigger picture

Same. I have over 550 hours since February. I have 3 killers at level 1, the rest some where between 40-50 (I did spend beyond their levels though on some to get decent perks), and all survivors between 40-50. No prestige on any of them. That's quite a bit of time to not have at least one character on one side with all the perks and trimmings.
This thread sums up how deep the grind is: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1276207
That forum really puts things into perspective, yikes. I am definitely not going for p3 anytime soon lol.

It really doesn’t take long to do it. Play killer with bbq during a BP event. I maxed at least half my killers during the 4 year event
But should we really have to wait for an event to level up are characters in a healthy amount of time?
-
@Steel_Eyed said:
I started DBD on PS4 in March 2019. By February 2020 I had fifteen P3 killers and seven P3 survivors. February I moved to PC.
I have seventeen P3 killers and six P3 survivors. It’s not too much. Especially with events like the COVID Blood Rush and Anniversary event.
I guess to each there own, I don't find enough time or energy to grind that much for so long just to play the game how I want to play it.
-
@Veen said:
I mean if they brought back events it would do some kind of placeholder, but they replaced that with a time gated battlepass who's only rewarding people paying/grinding the heck out of the game.
Right now we would have had the Scorched BBQ event and well, I suppose like the Christmas one, is gone to oblivion.
I was just thinking the other day "when will Scorched BBQ come back?" but you reminded me of the cold reality T-T

What’s the alternative? Playing Damsel in Distress simulator?
It's not that loops should be removed, I was wondering peoples opinion on looping and how much they like it or hate it and if maybe something fresh should be added to a chase?
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
It’s the funnest part about the game for me.
The mind-games, the RNG, the uncertainty and outcomes. Those are things you remember... you don’t remember holding M1.
With that being said, I do wish some loops were more interesting. Have structures where parts of the wall are falling, or objects you can interact with during a chase, like grabbing a random axe on the wall to break through a wall and create another “way” to that room etc
I made a post a while back (before breakable walls) where windows could potentially become doorways (my idea was a possible solution to god windows) as a way to interact with the killer AND the environment, through different vaulting phases:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/W03N3Y6MUFTV/5f81ba56-c50e-4c3e-867c-cee15b527c0b.png
Basically the more you vaulted it, the more it would crumble down until it because just an open doorway.
I really like that idea, that would be super fun but also I could only 1 or 2 on a map or else it would be too much. I agree that looping should not go away but I do agree that certain loops are boring and should be removed and replaced maybe? Props on the idea though really creative!

how about making holes that you could crouch through? just a thought, not saying this should be in-game but. Let's say that it's pretty balanced as the survivours will take long to get through giving the killer some time to hit them, or as killers such as pig and ghostface it would also work. Im not fully sure how you would balance ghostface with that though, since he has no cooldown. again, just a thought
I think new ideas are cool, maybe the graphical update will actually bring some good and new map design. We can only hope I guess.

Though I would LOVE to see alien, It would be cool to see candyman in the game

I hate to break it to people that don't seem to understand this, but all player vs player games are competitive. I think what you might mean to ask is if we want it to be e-sports viable. This game is highly entertaining to watch so the one thing truly stop it from being e-sports viable is the balance. And I can't imagine why anybody wouldn't want this game to be better balanced.
That makes a lot of sense putting it in words, kinda feels like a stupid question now lol, but I still think the game is overly competitive for what it is right now.
-
@Cheers said:
Personally I love playing at high ranks as it often brings out the best in each sides, causing for a fun game (atleast for me). I try to not play to competitively as then I feel as if it gets to me, but I enjoy playing against people that I personally feel are going to make me play to my best.
I agree that there should be heavy competition in any game at high ranks, I just feel like I don't belong there, but that's a whole different topic.
-
Yeah I know right? I don't really pay attention to the ranking system but It really doesn't make sense.

How many hours did that take you???😯
