What you describe isn't fault of the combo. Killer could do it literally every other combo and get the same or even better results.
In my last match I was camped and tunneled hard. No Undying, ruin or tinkerer equipped.
No..? No perk in the game asides from Ruin gives free regression and forces survivors onto side objectives to remove it from the game. Undying keeps it up until it hits the 3v1 and the Tinkerer is just added salt to the wound.
You couldn't get the same results with Corrupt/Pop, Surge/Surveillance, etc.

This has turned into an...interesting discussion, and I think everyone here has valid points.
As @GoodBoyKaru said, the Ruin / Old Undying combo was incredibly severe to solo players, especially on those unlucky situations when there was not a single difference between a bot and your teammates. Also, SWF had a much easier time, as an example me and my friend managed to cleanse both Totems at the exact same time.
However...
@Tsulan is correct. When this combo was a thing, I noticed a sheer decrease of camping and tunneling on my trials, because killers had time to switch targets and get value out of their combo. For once, time was not against them. And that was a very good thing, even for those who didn't rely on it.
In conclusion...
I have no idea of we should revert its nerf or if we should not.
In conclusion we can have it back when bhvr finally sorts solo queue out.
So we're never having it back.

The perk combo you mention is worthless if the killer camps.
Camping/tunneling killers use other combos.
They'd facecamp one survivor, solos would go for the save and kill their gen progress, then when it's a 3v1 they swing with ruin+Tinkerer because Undying saved their ass, or they're at a 3v1 with 5 gens up. Solos got shafted the worst with this combo and until we get solo buffs we shouldn't have it back.

Except one was changed in 3 months and the other has been in the game for close to 4 years.
Not much hope that they'll get better, tbh.
Totem spawns are the way they are, I think, because of solo survivor. Buff solo information in terms of totems and then superbuff totem spawns
But no a basekit totem counter is too difficult isn't it, BHVR?

It was about as healthy for the game as having the ######### totem spawns we have now.
Might get cleansed in 20 seconds, might be up the whole game.
You're saying this like I don't advocate for better totem spawns my guy.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2250204#Comment_2250204
See my previous message.
Before the Undying nerf, killers didn´t had time to tunnel/camp, because they needed to get value out of their Undying Ruin combo, by constantly switching targets.
Buffing Undying would solve this.
Lmao if you think killers didn't bring Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer just to facecamp someone as the solo teammates all leave their gen to travel the map to see they're being camped only to return to a gen that's regressed about 30-40%, only for the survivor to die and then the killer starts to play normally then you've never played solo Survivor when this combo was a thing.
Killers would abuse this combo in a 3v1 and abuse the fact that it only worked on solos.

Just because you experience something doesn't make it true universally.
I escape most of my Solo Survivor games, that sure doesn't mean that solo Survivor OP or that my perks are OP.
Correct, which is why I gave my own experience to counter Tsulan's experience. Do keep up Larry.

You're wrong, son. Undying was very healthy for the game. Because it reduced camping and gave survivors an incentive to do something else than gens.
What we have now, is unhealthy for the game. Because survivors just push gens and killers tunnel/camp in a desperate attempt to slow gens down.
Idk what games you're playing but killers will hard tunnel and camp the baby Meg they down 20 seconds into the game when I'm solo and we've lost the game, and when I play killer (as a no movement speed killer btw) I don't have to resort to tunneling and camping and I still win with more than one gen left 49/50 games.
Ruin/Undying wasn't healthy for the game, it punished solos more than SWF and really didn't help the game. People would sacrifice 2 perk slots for a chance at either winning immidiately (your ruin stays up longer than 4 minutes) or losing immidiately (you lose your ruin within 1 minute 30 seconds).
-
Undying was too good on high-mobility killers and not good enough on lower-mobility killers.
Undying didn't do enough vs SWF teams but would ######### solos so hard you'd think you're at an orgy.
It wasn't healthy for the game and did the opposite to what a perk was supposed to do. It should not return to this game.
-
Okay so anyway better post idea

- People talking in post-game chat is hardly a "show", it's to be expected. That's the entire reason the chat is there. Should people just not chat in the post-game chat?
Talking in chat has been illegal since 1803 and I shall be reporting you to Millie Bobby Brown with immidiate effect.

How was calling a question stupid a personal attack? A personal attack would be if I were to single out your username or something. For the record, I have not done this.

Iron Will, Decisive Strike, Dead Hard, Unbreakable
:)

I do it because it's funny :/
My friends list is public. If I stream, it's very evident in about 2 seconds I'm with friends. If you're going to check my stream out anyway, why bother asking? Just search it, or look at the friends list.
If you can be that hurt by someone saying they're solo when they're in a SWF for a laugh then you really, really need to lay on some grass. It really doesn't matter.

As much as I hate to defend practices used in F2P games in a P2W game, I kinda have to side with BHVR on this one. Securing the rights to use IPs is expensive. Securing the rights to use IPs in a live game, when things must be continually updated and the licenses renewed, is even worse. Having licensed characters and cosmetics only available for real money (aka cells) ensures that for everyone who consumes the product they can at least afford to supply it.

Thanks, that quite detailed.
How long have you played? Would you be able to get me two images of the Chinese Firecracker from one year and one from another? That's why I've listed them as Exclusive, because despite them coming back the items, add-ons & offerings I've obtained say the specific year's event, not an overall 'Lunar New Year, Halloween, Anniversary, etc
I've played since November 2017.
The reason that the event name changes is because it only displays the most recent one- for example, my Summer BBQ Invitations on Hag still say it's from the Scorching Summer BBQ while my Red Envelopes from Howling Grounds say the Gilded Stampede. So I physically cannot get screenshots because it'll show the most recent event, and it's all one item.
Also missing is the "Impact" mask for Meg Thomas, obtainable through downloading Deathgarden when it was available on the Steam Store (not necessarily purchasing it, just having it in your library). As this is no longer obtainable through legitimate methods, they join Legacy.
EDIT:
Also, how come I don't have the Howling Grounds cosmetics? I didn't see them in the store. Was it re-released for free for everyone but only for a once again limited time?
Are you sure you don't have them? Everyone should have them for free- I log into my alternate accounts and I still have them, for example.
-
The Halloween items return every halloween so I don't think they can be exclusive.
I played during both Winter Solstice events and we have yet to see a return to the Winter Party Starters + Gift Boxes of years past.
Red Envelope has been reused several times for previous lunar new year events, including one this year. I wouldn't say it's exclusive since it gets recycled.
All Howling Grounds cosmetics were made available for free, and the Chinese Firecrackers return every year.
The BBQ invitation has yet to return, however Kate and Billy's cosmetics were made free.
The rest listed are exclusive.
Also on the list of things that are exclusive:
- Ban Hammer Charm (exclusive to members of the moderation team)
- Developer/Shirt for Nea (exclusive to members of the BHVR team)
- Every charm that's been in the Rift, ever.

LP on a high-mobility killer like Nurse or Blight, combined with Infectious, can and probably will lead to 2 minute matches.
Corrupt is amazing on setup killers, or killers without much mobility, as it enables them to easily protect one area and force survivors to come to you, buying valuable early-game pressure

Of course IAE is going to be better. I just feel it was clever/nice that there was thought put into the purpose as to why PH has Killer Instinct.
It's just a shame the intention doesn't work that well in practice 😔
-
Someone reported me for hacking because I didn't have any attack cooldown. Mad grit.
Someone told me to commit the scooter ankle because I got a 3k as No Shock Doc on The Game (reworked). Obviously the one who escaped was mr clicky clicky tbag end yourself.
Someone reported me for hacking because they couldn't catch me. Hope.
Someone reported me for hacking because I did gens quickly. Fast Track.
Someone told me they're really glad my ex got cancer and died because I beat them at a video game. Brutal Strength PH player and they were absolute garbage so I ran them for 4 gens 🙃
Someone else told me they're glad my ex died of cancer. I killed them in a 12 hook game. They were awful.
An Oni once came into my stream (he was console so I'm including this) to tell me and my friends to go commit die because he didn't get his adept. He was the worst Oni I've ever seen.
The list goes on but these are the funniest that spring to mind (and by funny I mean hilariously depressing but if I don't laugh at them I'll cry).

With the way his power is designed, isn’t the design intention supposed to be that PH tries to force a survivor though a trench, so that he can then track them with Killer Instinct behind obstructions, and get accurate PoTD hits?
The issue here is that KI isn't accurate for precise tracking because it only updates once a second, and so a good survivor can move very slightly and dodge your narrow POTD if you predict where they'd be if they kept running. IAE is just more consistent and the cooldown isn't usually an issue.

I would assume it would help immensely with sniping and looping, and in order to avoid the perk survivors would have to go slower so there would be no counter or mindgames the survivor could really play.
I made a guide on imo his best build + how to play him properly, check it out here:
@GoodBoyKaru said:
So a few attentive people may recognise this from a comment I made yesterday (technically it was 24 minutes into today but let's not talk semantics). A couple of people suggested I make it a real post because "That's an excellent guide, very well put together." So, here I am. I've added a few more things so it's still worth a read.
This will cover what is, in my opinion, his best build and why, as well as a few tips on playing him & a few videos.
So hey, it's me- GoodBoyKaru, your friendly neighbourhood Pyramid Head main- here to give some swift Tips and Tricks(tm) to help make you a better Pyramid Head player!
For the record, this was made during DBD Patch 4.7.2
Build
PERKS
My personal favourite and imho strongest build is this:
- Corrupt Intervention
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/5A01IV8RME2M/image.png
Crucial early-game slowdown on a killer without mobility, allows him to stall the game massively because survivors know that if they get found they're doomed.
- Pop Goes The Weasel
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FHA7ZFNAKVZY/image.png
It's the second best gen regression perk in the game, Ruin is too volatile to be anywhere near reliable on him because, again, no movement speed, he needs gen perks because he cannot move around the map quick enough, 11/10. "But you don't hook pe-" WRONG. You should be getting plenty of value out of PGTW and if you're overcaging then you're taking your map pressure and throwing it out the window.
- Barbeque and Chili
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SC8THLXSY3RP/image.png
Now, you could obviously put other perks here like Infectious Fright (amazing snowball), Tinkerer (Undetectable is nice and it helps tell you where to go but again no movement speed) or Discordance (amazing info, can sometimes do nothing about it). However I say BBQ because I like the perk and also because bloodpoints.
- I'm All Ears
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/V90CSL0I44NO/image.png
Hands down the best perk in the game for Pyramid Head, that's six seconds of wallhacks. I cannot stress how valuable this is with his power- that is a guaranteed free hit in 9/10 situations. To show what I mean, I've linked a timestamped video below of where IAE comes in so clutch- continues to 5:16 in the video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJs4rvkppqs&t=296s
(you can watch the whole thing if you really want I'm proud of the game).
An honourable mention here goes to Ruin/Undying over Pop/Corrupt. As I've mentioned before, Tinkerer isn't a great perk on him due to his lack of speed, but the same goes for Ruin/Undying. You don't have the map mobility to defend your totems, especially if they spawn further away, and you'll probably end up losing two perks before 2 gens go. Corrupt/Pop is just more consistent in my experience.
ADD-ONS
So, his add-ons aren't great. The best ones, by far, are range add-ons which, when combined, extend his POTD by up to 2.5m (10.5m total). These are Burning Man Painting (Rare), Wax Doll (Uncommon), and Black Strap (Common), which ass +1.5m, +1m, and +0.5m respectively.
tips
Okay so rule number one is to not break pallets. Sounds weird but, just trust me.
His power is incredibly strong in a chase- so much so that if a survivor commits to an animation they die. If you don't break pallets (with some exceptions like God pallets) you can do amazing things. Because who doesn't want more opportunities to win a chase, like, instantly? It turns incredibly safe pallets into death sentences
To show what I mean, here's another timestamped clip. Ends at 10:58
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gu3X5o9GpjY&t=646s
Learn the range of the power. 8m is specific and sometimes you think you can hit things and you can't. You need to be very careful, especially when playing with range add-ons for so long, because it can and will screw with your perception.
Adapt to the survivors you're facing. A lot of players will fake taking an animation, go to the side slightly to bait your POTD or your cancel, and then commit to the animation. If you turn to the side and release, you'll catch a lot of these survivors out and get a hit. It's really satisfying to do. Alternatively some survivors will commit to the animations regardless, in which case you'll know to aim in the centre. Other survivors will just hold W and pre-drop pallets, in which case you know to leave them because you'll really struggle catching up, or do not use your power.
I cannot stress that enough. If a survivor is pre-dropping W key gaming, do not use your power. M1 killer them.
Don't overcage and don't stress about torment. If a survivor loops you, they'll get tormented. That's just kinda how it works- you stick your knife in, follow them around a loop, and release your POTD after tracking their movements.
To see what I mean we return to the first video, again timestamped. Clip ends at 1:36.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJs4rvkppqs&t=83s
See how I hug the car, turn the camera and use the power to hit him out of animation lock? Had he kept running, easy torment too.
In my opinion, only cage someone in one of four scenarios:
- You're afraid of a DS (just please don't tunnel I'm begging you)
- You're afraid of an Unbreakable (much more likely)
- You can immidiately get into another chase
- It would place you into a Pressure Point Of No Return (name pending).
What I mean by that last point is that there comes a time in a DBD game where the killer will hit a Pressure Point Of No Return, where the survivors physically cannot come back from the amount of pressure and momentum you're building. The best example of this as Pyramid Head is where you split the map through cages. You have two downed survivors. Cage one, hook the other. Nobody is on a generator, you have a BBQ proc to interrupt the person saving the cage or the hook, and now the last person must save both people. On especially large maps, like Mother's Dwelling, or multi-storied ones, like Midwich, this can force people into second stage and you've won the game at 5 gens. It's more common than you'd think.
If you cage at other times you're probably wasting pressure you could've gotten from a hook.
Learn where you can and can't lay trails. In front of totems and lockers? Amazing. In front of a gen? Not at all, it becomes a Restricted Trail Element and disappears after a few seconds. The DBD Wiki has a section on this which I'll just paste below.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2808XTGCLSHV/image.png
I'd highly, highly suggest reading the wiki page on his power as it's really useful in understanding the fundamentals and giving actual values to words. Here it is:
https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Pyramid_Head
Finally, learn where you can and can't use POTD. It sounds like a simple thing but learning where you can and can't use it, however there's a lot to it. For example, learning how vertical changes affect it. Did you know if you release his power on a slope going up it'll fail, same with releasing it on a slope going down. However, if you're barely off of the slope it'll travel down it, but only if it isn't too steep.
It's nuts but knowing where you can and can't actually have an ability is, funnily enough, pretty important.
A few more quick-fire tips:
- Don't just go for animation lock shots. People expect these and adapt. Be unpredictable to catch them off guard and get easy hits. Like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U1k10I-zG4&feature=emb_logo
Bet they didn't expect that one :p
Needless to say that was where I hit a Pressure Point Of No Return and poor Jakey couldn't pick up the scraps.
- Don't spam his power. You waste too much time. Be precise, predict, and adapt to your opponents.
- Don't spam his trails. You move at 110% and you already lack a movement ability, you waste too much time.
- Tunneling isn't the best strategy. I know it seems like it because cages but again, you do not have a movement ability. Survivors can and will facefuck generators and ruin your day substantially.
- Dead Dawg Saloon and Hawkins are both maps you never press M2 on ever. Play like a default M1 killer because the map design prevents you from using your power. They're pretty much auto-loss maps, ngl, unless the survivors really badly mess up.
- Play survivor. Learn where survivors move and how they path, shoot POTD to hit them. That's what I did in that last clip.
And, yeah, that's about it. If people have any questions please let me know and I'll try to answer them as best I can, though I think this is comprehensive enough.

Welp, it's kinda funny that I replied to this thread before I noticed your reply to my old post, haha.
What are your PC specs?
Not replying to me but I'll give my experience + specs
1080p monitor (+ 720p secondary one), usually running dbd, youtube, discord, and steam simultaniously with nvidia shadowplay enabled. maybe streamlabs too.
ryzen 7 3700x, gigabyte 6gb gtx 1660 gaming, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd. run the game at 135% resolution at 60fps with everything set to ultra except shadows. usually i can vibe at 60fps, though if i play uncapped it seriously cannot decide on a number between 70 and 144. midwich and nurse like to take my frames and just randomly decide they mean nothing and ill have to play 5fps nurse for about a second (which is fun).
also whenever i close dbd after playing for 2+ hours it bricks my pc for about 2 minutes :D
now if this is the experience with a ryzen 7 3700x and a gtx 1660 (which never goes above 60% usage, about 20% on the cpu) then i really don't wanna imagine what a last-gen console goes through
edit: it's worth noting games like cyberpunk, resident evil village + remake 2, ni no kuni, etc all run perfectly
