I LOVE Head On. I WANT it to be consistent 😔😔 but I can only take being grabbed out of a locker by a killer who is STILL around the corner so many times... or killers who just don't get stunned even while being inches away from the locker 😭😭😭

It basically leaves it to only be used for "toxic" reasons- most games I can't get anything out of it unless I'm playing with at least one friend and tell them "run past this locker!!!", otherwise I'm getting yoinked out before they're even in front of the locker or they're avoiding the stun with mystic powers 💀💀

I did recently get a basement save with Head On that really swung the match in our favor... so it does truly have its moments... though rare LOL

my favourite thing to do right now is Head On into Flashbang blind with Quick + Quiet and then Blast Mine for the extra jokes.

though I fear this was more QnQ I did manage to get a pallet save on a demo jumping out of a nearby locker, got back into another one and then head on'd him. poor doggo

Head On is honestly one of the most garbage perks in the game, for what it is. It's just a constant buggy let down. I've gotten grabbed out while MASHING space bar to stun- it just doesn't work at all with desync/lagging killers/etc. I used to run it with Q&Q and Inner Strength for some added protection, but after so many matches where it just didn't do what it should have I gave it up ☹

Anyways, to answer your question, no, Iron Maiden does not counter Head On. Unless you don't get the stun- then you're just one hit away from going down 😩 LOL

look it may be bad but it's the most fun perk in dbd and i will stand by this opinion until the day i die

  • Sorry wasn't it literally you who said that you don't want a bloodhunt during the anniversary event because "the economy would never recover" and "it would be ultra-rare city for weeks"? Like I'm not making this up that was actually you and not someone else on your account, right?

Because this game survivor sided, literally any other killer has a faster time downing than nemesis, people play killers for their unique powers not to m1 people to death, just look at billy, you can’t even use your power at almost every loop and are force to m1 just for them to leave the loop, it’s a shame having majority of killers are a one trick ponies that can easily beat by any survivor with a brain

I don't think so. All progress is saved, it's just the access to the DLCs itself, and if these were to be re-aquired at any time then any progress made on these characters is re-unlocked. Teachable perks also remain unlocked permanently.

I can understand pigs boxes ayra shouldnt be blocked but the lament configuration?

Because it's an integral part of his power which provides free pressure and once the Chain Hunt begins and the Box™ must be solved having it be, you know, invisible may be a bit much? Especially since it's a tiny item that spawns on the ground and if it's in grass or corn good luck finding it. Combo that with a Ruin if it remains standing that they cannot cleanse due to chains and cannot power through due to chains, and form that point on you basically just win? Bearing in mind you then cannot cleanse the Third Seal totem either due to the Chain Hunt.

Then i must be the unluckiest player in dead by daylight. Because everytime my map offering clash with survivor map offering. My map offering always the one that got rejected

I mean, I once used a sacrificial ward to cancel a Midwich offering and was randomly sent to Midwich Elementary School, and in this exact trial I got a gamebreaking Nurse bug which prevented survivors from being sacrificed, or indeed progressing from any hook state or even being unhooked. One of us was forced to dc to escape limbo.

Also yesterday was the case of my friend bringing a map offering for me, and one of the two randoms brought Haddonfield. Three games in a row. Three games on Haddonhell, and just because we won doesn't mean it was fun.

It's honestly just you being unlucky.

  • Survivor offerings do not get priority. When a green map offering is played, it is a near 100% chance to go to that realm. If another is played, it becomes 50/50, 3 offerings make it 33/33/33, if 4 are in play it's 25/25/25/25, and with 5 offerings in play it is a 20/20/20/20/20 chance for each.

You just got unlucky. That's all

I was referring to the remakes of RE1, RE2 & RE3, of which all five characters in the Chapter come from, not any sequels or the original versions of their games.

Chris is based off his RE1 Remake appearance after all, and not his RE5 or RE6 ones (or 7 and 8).

I wouldn't mind beefcake Chris showing up though.

My bad, I read your comment wrong.

  • @Superyoshiegg said:

If it happens, there's no reason why it wouldn't be the RE2 one. Claire and Chris's Legendary skins are based on their depiction in the remakes of those games, after all.

Except you can counter Spirit by knowing when she's phasing. Comp players do it all the time. So why give survivors more hand-holding changes and give them an uncounterable perk?

This game's comp scene is a joke and you shouldn't use it as an example of what you should balance around.

It should be balanced around good players, yes, just not the tournament squads who represent an abnormal amount of coordination and skill.

  • No. Survivor games have not improved, at all, and all that's happened is instead of insta killer queues it now takes upwards of an hour to find one for my main killer, Pyramid Head, at previous peak times.

Why not run maps? They give you infinite range on all the totems with addons, only one person need a map and all the totems are gone. People act like noed is a automatic guaranteed a 4K, I don’t even use it but I know by time noed activate all survivors are at both exit gates teabagging

Solo survivors shouldn't have to use perks, items, add-ons of offerings for information a 4man SWF get for free, and thinking they should exacerbates the continual balance issues in the game <3

It was the totem I'd seen and remembered but hadn't cleansed.

Now if I had cleansed it, it would've been a different totem we then would have had to find. But it wasn't because not doing bones is a better counter to noed than doing the bones.

Bunch of baby survivor main are always victims

Entirely depends on where you look. Twitter is more survivor sided in it's complaints, whilst the forums are definitely mostly killer sided in their complaining. Both sides complain about stupid things, and valid things.

    1. Doesn't help killer untill the very end
    2. Can be cleansed
    3. It's possible it won't even proc, because it's super easy to cleanse all totems with Small Game or Counterforce + map. Also cleansing all 5 prolongs the game by 20 seconds, so yeah...
    4. Killer can still be looped easily unless it's Nurse, Spirit, Hag or Slinger
    5. Was nerfed twice already

How is it a good perk?

    1) That doesn't change my statement of it's a solo stomping perk.

    2) That doesn't change my statement of it's a solo stomping perk.

    3) This is the reason it is a solo stomping perk. All 4 survivors searching for and cleansing totems, with no information on where the other survivors are, how many totems are left, or where the totems have been cleansed, immidialtely throws the game. NOED is a greater slowdown perk than even ruin when facing solos- again, solo stomping perk- whilst SWF have the communication and information needed to deactive this perk, ensuring it won't work when you "need" it.

"Just use small ga-" Solo survivors should not have to use perks, items, add-ons or offerings to get information that SWF get for free, and thinking they should is the reason this game is so unbalanced towards them.

    4) That doesn't change my statement of it's a solo stomping perk.

    5) That doesn't change my statement of it's a solo stomping perk.

    6) False, see above. Solos cannot communicate builds effectively to make this argument remotely valid.

Above all else, you don't need any perk as survivor to counter noed. You run to gen or somewhere and see a dull on the way? Cleanse it. Oh god... so hard...

Above all else, you don't need any perk as survivor to counter noed. You run to gen or somewhere and see a dull on the way? Cleanse it. Oh god... so hard...

This is actually an awful idea. If you cleanse 3 totems, 3 obvious totems, the other 2 will be more hidden and if there is a NOED you will now have a much harder time finding these totems. You have guaranteed that NOED spawns in a hidden place, instead of having a 60% chance for it to spawn out in the open.

To be fair, I have only ever judged HSHS and LY:TN as DbD-look-a-likes as well.

maybe ‚competitor‘ was the wrong word though but that’s how i saw those two (and I think DbD existing is big factor in why those 2 failed..)

this one will most likely be the first I will try first hands because it’s gonna be free to play.

I don't think DBD's existence was a big factor in their failure. HSH:S was attempting to move towards a F2P game model (by monetising everything, like they said they would when they left alpha) while not actually leaving alpha. It was still very janky when I last played, and the servers were far from amazing. Then they added in the pets- which made the game basically P2W- and it all came tumbling down.

LY:TN failed due to several (maybe several thousand) bad decisions on behalf of the dev team. Firstly, releasing as a Discord store exclusive screwed over a lot of people and made it very inaccessible, particularly when mandating voice chat be on using Discord's services. Then, they followed the DBD plan of attempting to monetise everything possible, except they failed at that one so moved over to rebranding with LY: After Dark. AD promised new content, and this new content was the not given. Finally, the studio gave up and the game was officially dead.

Bad decisions and excessive monetisation, imho, killed these games far more than DBD existing ever did.

  • The ironic part is that a lot of people who don't think NOED is healthy play both sides and recognise it's true strength comes when facing solos, not the dreaded SWF everyone seems so afraid of

  • I think that, yes, it could be a potential competitor but it's important to realise that DBD and VHS' similarities are a 4v1 game in the horror genre. That's it. Survivors have passives in VHS, not in DBD. The win conditions are vastly different too- survivors must fight back against the killer in VHS, there is literally no other way to win, while killers just need to incapacitate or kill all 4 survivors.

It's better to compare it to HSH:S or LY:TN than DBD because it is far closer to those games in terms of design.

It could be competition- and lord knows a lot of the playerbase have already invaded their Discord server- but I'd rather rate the game on it's own merits, and what it brings to the table, than just "POTENTIAL DBD COMPETITOR".

(But yes, I am very excited for it, and at least it's free to play).

People forget that the world itself is the entity.

Meyers isn't going to tombstone the floor and kill the entity.

Oh no, I dont mean kill the Entity, I just mean they don't listen and be controlled 100% of the time. They still can't escape or truly beat her though.

  • None of them, which is why they're there. Some can hold off the temptation of it- like Michael able to ignore the Entity and just straight up kill them (tombstone add-ons) but then they're the ones that don't want to leave. It's an eldritch horror which has created EVERYTHING in these trials. As far as we know through lore, it cannot be beaten. Manipulated and tricked, yes, but it cannot be escaped and cannot be beaten.

  • @Bluebird said:

I've said it in the past, but I'll say it again, Teachables should be reworked into their own rarity and give a worse version of the perk.

    Some examples

    | Survivors |

Dead Hard - Gives Exhaustion for 120 seconds instead of 60, when used on David it keeps its tiers, going from 60 / 50 / 40 (all Exhaustion Perks could use this formula)

Unbreakable - Allows you to pick yourself up once, doesn't give you a recovery boost

Soul Guard - Gives Endurance for 5 seconds as opposed to 8 seconds, 60 second cooldown (one or the other, but the former would have more of an effect)

Flashbang - Requires a full generator to be completed solo

Inner Strength - 20 seconds to heal self in locker (still faster than Self Care, speaking of...)

Self Care - Heals at 35% Healing Speed, making Botany required (which would also be nerfed, probably to 20%

    Deception - A cooldown of 90 seconds

    | Killers |

BBQ And Chili - Increase its range to 56 meters, still useful if its far out, but not so much if they're somewhat close

    Nurse's Calling - 16 Meters

Thanataphobia (sorry Legion) - 3% penalty per injury

Tinkerer - 85% Gen Progression required to trigger

Pop Goes The Weasel - 15% Regression after hook, or a time of 30 seconds to activate

    Hex: Ruin - 125% Regression

Hex: Undying - No longer shows auras when around a Dull Totem

that just takes build variety for the 96% of players who don't care about the meta and shits all over it um

  • that's how i normally play, unless you could I'm All Ears and a crutch for Pyramid Head. I can 4k/3k usually, or at least before MMR, since I cba to wait over an hour for queues and aren't playing killer for the moment

Great response, my one issue is that that this text defines virtual goods, but maps don't fall under the listed requirements.

"The Game may, from time to time, feature virtual goods. Virtual goods include but are not limited to virtual items (characters, accessories, items such as “character customization”, power-ups), points, credits, tokens and currency (collectively, “Virtual Goods”) for use in the Game.

You may “earn” Virtual Goods within the Game or we may allow you to “purchase” Virtual Goods with “real money” or virtual currencies. Certain Virtual Goods in the Game may be unavailable if not purchased."

This makes a distinction between the game and virtual goods inside, and sets 2 definitions for what counts as a virtual good. This means for it to be a virtual good it must be "earnable" or "purchasable" within the game. Hawkins was not earnable, and it was not purchasable separately from the game, therefore it is not a virtual good and they can't change it. It might seem that "not limited to" would counter this but I think that it means you are supposed to use the later definition to decide if any other given thing is a virtual good. Characters, accessories, items such as “character customization”, power-ups), points, credits, tokens and currency are all earnable or purchasable and therefore I agree with BHVR calling them virtual goods.

Again, I'm not a lawyer, I don't know if you are, and frankly I hate Hawkins as a map. I don't care if it specifically goes but this sets a precedent I'm not comfortable with. If they removed Macmillan tomorrow I would just quit.

For the record, it's just one of my A-level subjects, not a fully fledged lawyer yet but I'm considering it maybe.

I don't think this sets a precedent for original maps or content. Licenced content is permanently on a limited time section- it all depends on the licence holders. Netflix was just the first to pull out of a contract and thus terminate the license.

It makes them better if they know how to use it. A perk like Dead Hard is great, but for a new player it's practically useless. Sorry to say mate but I don't see any reason why a group of new players have to get punished because of high rank players.

Here's what will happen if you get your wish:

    1. People will try to search at the same time and get into each others lobby to avoid the penalty
    2. PC players will create a mod that can make them find their teammates in a match. Once again avoiding your idea.
    3. New players who don't understand the game will get into games they are not ready for before they want to play with a friend. We don't understand how the MMR ratings work so your 5%/10% thing could be basically nothing or really broken.

Yes they guy who said in his last message that he wants solo q and killer buffed, wants easier games 😂 definitely makes a lot of sense. I'm just using logic mate.

apparently wanting solo and killer buffed ACTUALLY means youre on the side of the SWFs smh my head i thought you were better than that.

Some game took the decision to remove full squad in high rank (Overwatch, LoL). Those developpers know that it unbalance the whole rank if a full squad is playing.

Look at R6S, if you are diamond, try to play a ranked game in soloQ, you will face a 5 stack squad and you won't get a chance.

Dbd is the same, killer vs SWF = toxic.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but R6S, Overwatch, and LOL all have casual public modes? DBD doesn't have that, making the only mode both ranked and casual queue in the same place.

So you're suggested to remove full squads in casual, as well, which is not the way to go.

    "killer vs SWF = toxic"

May I ask exactly how you define toxic here?

What I suggested was a super easy and realistic fix that shouldn't even bother SWFs because it's just making matchmaking fairer, what you suggest is changing completly the game and we all know this won't happen, you suggest ending world hunger, i just give 1$ to a beggar.

Ending world hunger is also the solution, whilst I've also set out the step by step guide on how to reach this solution. Giving $1 to a beggar does basically nothing except annoy a couple of rich people.

So thank you for using this analogy which parallels quite well, in that your suggestion does absolutely nothing to solve the issues except make some people angrier and helps absolutely nobody.

  • @JohnWeak said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2488696#Comment_2488696

SWF must be removed from the game, period. There is no fix to it without breaking the game for non grouped player. The game should force soloQ and duoQ and then be balanced around it at high level.

Or- and hear me out- don't punish or prevent people from playing the game with their friends, because that's how you slit the game's throat, and instead of nerfing everything at the top, buff everything else around it to reach the same standard whilst applying no real benefit to them. Give solos more information, killers get stronger, maps are smaller and objectives take longer and are harder to find.

Because your solution will not work. Not only for the speculation of it'll kill the game, but it is incredibly easy to work around, as is every punishment given to people in the SWF queue. They just... won't queue together. They'll go solo, dodge every single lobby until they get their friends, and profit avoiding all penalty (or given your solution, they'll queue in duos and dodge). Making solo and normal duo squad's queue times skyrocket, alongside killers as they'll be waiting in the lobby for ages.

Buff solo. Buff killer. Leave SWF alone. Adjust further if necessary.
