Are you sure of this? Because I was leveling up Blight during the event, and I dont recall the addon doing anything extra for me.
In fact, it was like the game was forcing me to spend 3,000 BP on something that's already part of my basekit.
It was like that last year. Never tried it this year, so I can't say whether it's the same. Though it wasn't stated to have changed.
Just to be clear, when running it, he had/has 6 rushes.

A Dream Transition into a Hatch Garb.
I will never forget it: it was in early 2019, and I was playing on one of the Autohaven maps (I think it was old Gas Heaven).
That was easily my best play ever.
A pity that it cannot be done again.
I just went "ooh" at the thought of that. I never really liked old Freddy, but that transition was something truly unique about him.
As for my own moments, the match that got me Evil Incarnate is still one of my best. Also Adept Slinger, as I've never played an FPS in my life. Not to mention his perks are shite.
Where Did They Go?? was also a good one, even though that was utterly random when it happened.
More recently, the match that got me the Power Struggle tome challenge. On the Game, wraith knocks me after a long chase after I try to bait him into a hole. He still falls down the hole, but I don't. I tenacity + flip-flop + unbreakable my way over to the pallet in the big corner room, and wait. It takes him a while to get back up, only to be really confused, wasting even more time. He eventually finds me under a pallet, even checking the lockers for wannabe stunners. He hesitates, then decides to pick me up. The rest you can guess. It wasn't so much the play itself that I'm proud of, but the fact that I managed to buy so much time with what was essentially a misplay in baiting a really obvious hole. 3 gens got done, and I didn't even waste that many pallets.
Another one was a Saboteur play versus a Huntress on Sanctum. I sabo a hook as she comes down the stairs, doesn't notice until she's almost on it, and has to go for another. One bodyblock, and off slides Leon. The Huntress, very clearly tilted, now has it out for me, but can't for the life of her hit her hatchets anymore. A chase around half of the map without even using a maze tile, and she disconnects. The first and thus far only time I've made a killer disconnect. And by golly, they were salty.

Was it that same employee who was remoting into my games? I didn't want to think that was the case, but the lack of response kind of confirms it. I get it. You can't share internal problems, but thanks for getting him off my case.
What kind of conspiracy do you think this is? Why would any developer, of any game, insert themselves into your matches specifically? Do you realise how many resources that implication takes?
Also, they can fix things in the backend without needing an update. This has happened before.

"Oh, look, it's a pig."

It was not a box.

That's to stop people from just destroying every hook around the killer.
Or cancelling and changing to a different hook when the killer moves away
Yeah, I understand why it has a cooldown, but the full 60 seconds for not even doing the thing? That's really excessive.
-
Recently, Bubba, by far.
-
Don't forget wall breaker.
-
Ahh, so that's what that weird thing in the aura is.
-
The only reason I can think of why they'd lock it is because Blight gets another charge out of it.
-
Your Unbreakable fix would stop nothing, by your own design. One picks themselves up, then the others are still going to bleed out. GF will just down the now just injured survivor, and the game draws out even longer.
-
Apart from Myers, no character has their themes in the game.

Please don't resort to micro aggressions, or get defensive. When I said "you", I meant the royal you. Apologies if that wasn't clear.
It just read as you telling me specifically that I was denying the history of blackface, when I’m from a country with an annual event during which the discussion arises. Just rubbed me wrong, is all.
Also, I have no idea what the “royal you” is, so I’m just gonna google that real quick to not derail the topic further.
-
If it does happen, I’ve never seen evidence of it.

I think you trivialise the debate and the historical issue of "blackface" by calling it "coddling". Or at least you fail to understand why this cosmetic may genuinely upset people.
Yes, I get that Bubba wears the faces of all victims, and I am not sure I have a strong opinion one way or the other. But I do think we need to listen to the objections without using "whattaboutery". And I definitely see this thread and debate, as a sad microcosm of the wider societal debate.
I literally stated “coddling” was the term used by someone else, who iirc, is a poc. If it wasn’t from who I think it was, then that’s on me.
I am in no way denying the history, or the problems with it. You clearly didn’t read the entire thread. I’m just mentioning the others as the cosmetic itself isn’t the only factor I’m considering here.

Totally disagree with your comme t that removing it will upset more people than it will satisfy.
Or more accurately this is the problem with this whole debate and issue at large.
If people get genuinely offended or upset, for well known historical and personal reasons... isn't that more valid a reason to listen to, than people who really shouldn't have an issue with the sinple removal of a cosmetic. Simply put, the removal of a cosmetic doesn't really impact you or matter, so if they did, and you kick up a fuss.... ask yourself why
It’s just that if the offending cosmetic gets removed, all the others face cosmetics should get removed too. Otherwise, it just creates an unnecessary stand-out that makes it seem like “coddling” as someone else in this thread put it.

Because being implcitly racist isn't keeping your views to yourself, it's displaying them in a way hard to prove however still entirely capable of causing the desired effect.
I suppose you're right, but it still feels to me like that's going to be an edge-case. To that effect, the proposed change feels like an overreaction to me.
But, again, I'm aware I'm going to be biased. It's not up to me, either way.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:

No, and nobody is arguing that it will. However, you can be implicitly racist, and explicitly racist, and what you described is the latter. It is also much easier to prove, and thus much easier to ban for. Removing the tool for implicit racisim means they'll either have to be explicitly racist- and thus risk a ban- or keep their views to themselves- which enables people to be far more comfortable while playing.
...Then I actually just don't see the issue. If the racist keeps their opinion to themselves, then what's the effective difference between a 'normal' bubba player using the cosmetic, versus an actual racist using it as a blackface...thing. (I'm too tired to think of the correct terminology anymore.)

Nobody is saying it's just the Bubba players, however it's a tool allowing implicit racism. That was explicit racism and entirely bannable
I'm just giving it as an example that "removing a tool" is just ultimately futile, in my opinion. This is my logical-to-a-fault reasoning that removing the tools to express racism isn't going to solve the core issue, being the racism itself.

Except no-one wears the pride charm with the intention to be homophobic.
Yet (some) people do wear Smartface with the intention of being racist.
They're not really the same thing...
I've had a bizarre encounter where a guy in the pre-game lobby asked if I could also play as "the [n-word]". All 3 others were Claudettes. The guy then proceeded to write out an onomatopoeia of monkey sounds.
It's really not just smartface Bubba users. I really shouldn't think we're removing Claudette from the game, now would we?
-
To just state my opinion on the matter, I personally don't see it as a necessary thing to change. I will be opposed to flat-out removal, however. As GBK has stated, though, that is (hopefully) not the case.
That said, I'm naturally going to be biased. Being a white Dutch guy, I've grown up with the yearly tradition of Sinterklaas (which is, fittingly, around this time of year), where actual blackfaces (and, admittedly, not very flattering ones at that) appear commonly. Zwarte Pieten, they're called. Literally, Black Petes. It's something I just never considered as being offensive until a few years back. Strides have been made to improve the situation, but it only takes a quick google image search to see why even the current iteration ("roetveegpieten" - chimneysweep Petes) is still problematic. Even so, it hardly affects me at all. I'm too old now to be affected by any major change in the tradition (it's primarily aimed at kids around the age of 8-10), and the whole matter leaves me largely indifferent anyhow.
With that out of the way, I can perfectly understand why a poc would be offended by the cosmetic, and if that's indeed a shared sentiment, by all means, I'll support that. Though, I really don't think flat-out removal is the way to go about it, as that seems like positive discrimination. Quite simply, it just doesn't make sense if we don't also remove, or indeed, change the other cosmetics. That isn't me taking offense to just Dwight and Meg's faces being the only ones, I just would greatly prefer a more elegant solution, if something were to change.
(I am currently running on 4,5 hours of sleep. If this topic still exists tomorrow, I'll try to elaborate)

Going back to @ReikoMori's post, since I think they worded it really well- "I get the whole, Leatherface isn't racist argument, but it ain't about the character and people should stop making it about the character."
Stop making it about how Leatherface isn't racist for doing so, because nobody is disputing that he isn't. It's not about proving he's racist, but about taking away a tool and allowing POC to feel more comfortable in the game. If people are using it to be racist and if people are finding it uncomfortable for these reasons, especially then listen to the community and remove it. If you aren't the people who have been historically oppressed from it, then you of course won't understand why it makes people uncomfortable because you simply don't have the experience- it's like asking a lawyer for advice on a brain surgery. Both have different experiences leading to different types of knowledge which makes their opinions far more valid on certain things (as in, for legal issues I'd absolutely go to the lawyer).
I really don't think "taking away a tool" is the way to go about it. I can't speak for any poc, since I'm the palest guy I know, but I do think that reasoning is a very, very slippery slope.

Right- apparently "yellowface" is the more Americanised term- just checked in with a friend (and yes, calling Asian people yellow is horrendously racist) and it's better to use cultural appropriation over it as it's less offensive (they're also not an expert on the subject, neither am I, however since they're iirc half-Chinese I thought they're better to ask and get opinons from rather than use my own knowledge).
Regardless of the term, though, it's something that was portrayed in media frequently and still is rarely to this day. It's far less recognised than blackface, however is still a problem, and Jake's face cosmetic is cultural appropriation like Claudette's face is blackface.
I'm having a real hard time gathering your viewpoint on the matter of the cosmetics themselves. Surely it'd be more racist if they were removed now? Positive discrimination is also a thing that I'd rather avoid. Regardless of the terms used, it hardly matters to the character itself. He just wears people's faces. As I just said, it'd be worse imo if he actively avoided faces from people of colour.
-
Y'know, sometimes it just gets to you, no matter what. There's been a fair few games that had me absolutely livid, followed by the audacity of the survivor that more often than not wasn't even the one harassing me in-game.
Best advice I can give you, as others said, is to make your profile friends-only, and just put the game down if it's getting that bad. Sadly, online expletive-faces will always be around, and, quite frankly, are a necessary evil when you want to maintain even the slightest of slivers of privacy online. Although not even that's sacred with the hacker stories going around.
-
Saboteur also has a stupidly long cooldown that triggers even when not completing the action. Doing old tome challenges reminded me of this fact.
-
Oppression, that one Nemesis perk I forget the name of, Jolt... Funnily, all gen-related perks.
Blood Echo too, I guess? I can never tell whether it actually did something for me.

I'm not afraid of using any perks in the game. They're there for a reason.
Well, yes, not everyone is against it of course. Though, I've heard plenty of killers explicitly stating they refuse to run it. Many of those on these very forums.
-
Given that I'm already forced to run Kindred to stand even the slightest chance of long-term survival, I really don't want to be forced into running another perk just to know what others know for free.
Also, I don't see the problem with adding a totem counter at all. It doesn't tell you where they are, does it now? They're still as hidden as always. It's just a slight help for struggling solo players.
Also also, how often do you face killers using NoED in the first place? I can guarantee you that if it became even slightly more common, you'd see many many more complaints about it. There's a reason killer players don't want to use it, myself included.
-
I fondly remember when I showed the game to my brother, I got wrecked by TheEntityLeftHand playing Trapper. I believe it's their main, though I'm not sure whether they even play anymore.
-
What map was this on? How close was he?
-
Favourites, in no particular order:
Pale Rose
Temple of Purgation
Father Campbell’s (when it’s not too bad)
Least Favourite, again in no particular order:
Dead Dawg (over-exposure reasons, mostly)
Haddonfield
Badham variants (the original one was fine, imo. The variants, particularly 3 and up are not.)
Honourable favourite: Weirdly, RPD. I’ve never even played any RE games, yet I’ve really come to like this map. I know the layout fairly well too, so I don’t get lost anymore. I only really did in the first few games, anyway.
[edit:] I completely forgot about Léry’s. Always was one of my favourites. Not particularly favourable towards all killers, but I just like it, I guess.
Honourable disliked: The Game. Matches greatly differ on this one for me. I don’t hate the map per se, but it can be really infuriating to smash pallet after pallet. I did find that not breaking any walls sometimes greatly trips up survivors, guaranteeing hits. Ultimately very dependent on the survivors how this map goes, and whether I’m (mentally) prepared for it.
-
I’ve had unreasonable difficulty with the “stun so many times” challenges. There are a few in the last tome that I still haven’t completed. It has come to the point where I had to become what I despise—throwing every pallet in sight.
Also, when I try for it, I almost always go against killers that play around pallets. It’s an ironic uptick in Huntresses, Legions, P-Heads, Nurses, all the lot.
I only got the current stun challenge because of an utterly oblivious legion.

However there are fewer awesome feelings than when you randomly toss up Sac Ward and send a shytt-yourself Myers into the corn instead of Lery's or the ol' Hawkins...
…That happened to me once. I got sent to Rotten Fields, of all places.
More on-topic, what if map offerings, including the ward, had their own category of offerings?
Also, what if the ward just doesn’t get consumed if it doesn’t trump anything? The offering ‘refund’ mechanic has gone criminally underused, after all.

In all outdoor maps, main buildings are always rotated in a different way. With exception of Temple o’ Purgation, Dead Dawg, Badham and Haddonfield, as having those buildings rotated would look really strange. This also includes the killer Shack.
On Midwich, the only areas that can switch around are the generic classrooms, and the courtyard. It’s only beaten by RPD in how static it is.

But I don't think I've actually run into anyone who's booned five totems before I got a hook. and if they managed that I'm not sure I would get a hook, so it probably doesn't matter most of the time.
That would be impossible anyway, wouldn’t it? Each survivor can only bless one totem.

I had a message containing nothing but the letter ‘y’ get censored. There’s nothing going on here that we don’t already know.

I mean, with it literally being called an 'Ambush', I highly doubt it's meant as an anti-loop.

It wouldn't buff Swiffer. This is one of the few things that swiffers can communicate extremely easily. If one guy did two totems and another did one, all they have to do is declare how many totems they cleared and they can work out there's two left.
Yes, that too. However the general Swiffer isn’t going to coordinate that well. So in that sense… I’d honestly call it a buff for survivors in general.
Though, yes, it would hardly change anything for efficient swiffers. All the more reason to do it, eh?
-
-
About the totem counter currently tied to Small Game, what if it appeared in the HUD just like the killer sees their hook count?
Now, yes, if would buff SWF as well, but I’d say that’s a necessary evil. It bridges the ‘totem gap’ between soloes and SWFs far more than nerfing SWF ever will.
Buffs are better than nerfs.
-
I think, and let me emphasise, I think your characters do get transferred as well.
-
Pallet logic. The generation didn't spawn enough pallets, so it throws in more in places where you'd normally not see another.
-
Yeah, matchmaking in general is borked. I've been matched with far better survivors and flat-out noobs. It just doesn't work currently.

That Survivor isn't actually wrong. By definition, they weren't being racist.
The term you're looking for is 'xenophobic', which is prejudice against someone based on their country of origin, not skin colour or ethnicity.
That's actually very good to know. Thank you, good sir/madam.
Though, I also have to emphasise that it was the same survivor that was throwing the insults in the first place. So, by all means, they weren't 'right' either.
-
I recall having an argument with a fellow survivor who was also spouting the infamous Russian slurs at a player with a Russian steam profile. I called them out on their racism, telling them that it's not exclusive to skin colour. I'll never forget their reply:
"i disagree"
Gotta love people hiding behind online anonimity.

What you are experiencing is games againts SWF (4 coordinated survivors with comms) and games againts 4 random people.
When SWF go to sleep the game is slighly killer sided thats why you get easier matches. But when SWF are up the game is survivor sided. This is the main problem of DBD, having two different games inside one.
Not just that. I’ve noticed that, later at night, I can get matched with <50 hour players, despite me being on a winning streak already.
It’s just borked, is what it is.
-
I believe it boils down to a technical issue that comes with how survivor parties are created. Basically, even when playing solo, you’re in a party, and instantly switching from a killer party to a survivor party causes issues.
At least, that’s what I recall one of the mods saying.
-
Do you, by any chance, mean the Jill perk, Resurgence? They're similar names but they do very different things. Resilience and DS are hardly alike. Not sure why'd you compare those two.
