The first is the best, but the third is the most fun (that one's my favorite - while it did introduce the comedic Freddy, it also had some really interesting characters and kills, plus lots of lore for Freddy's character).
The second one is super homoerotic, which as a straight male is fine but very curious. Regardless of one's feelings on that most people forget (because it's overshadowed by the gay overtones) that Freddy comes off GREAT in that film. From his aggressive, no-nonsense body language, to his being cast almost exclusively in shadow, to his most iconic line in the series ("You are all my children now"), part 2 is actually unfairly overlooked.
I guess number 1 is the technical best, the creepiest and so forth. Number 2 keeps that vibe and Freddy is a badass in it but the gay overtones are kind of distracting (they may not be for a gay person, I can't say. It may just come across as campy). The third one, meanwhile, is in my opinion the most fun and entertaining by far if you just want to watch a good old-fashioned mix of comedy, good kills, and interesting character development. Plus Patricia Arquette and Lawrence Fishburne.
Starting with 4 the series basically jumped the shark until Wes Craven tried to right the ship with New Nightmare, a very different entry in the series, and then of course there's Freddy vs. Jason which is pretty straightforward.
Ah yes, I remember that scene:
-
Yeah... And we are literally a Freddy main talking to a Spirit main...
I have a bad feeling about this.

Every one who happens to main a top tier killer.

Wow, make that two! I am legitimately not exaggerating when I say that I have not heard of anyone liking the movie at all. NO ONE. Zip. Not one person anywhere, ever. Until today. Now two in a row! I was honestly wondering if I'd go my whole life never seeing anyone defend that movie.
Now to be fair, I haven't seen it. I don't have a dog in the fight. Well technically I guess I do since I'm a big fan of much of the original Elm Street series (all but 4, 5, and 6, really), but having not seen the remake I can't judge. I actually think it's funny that the reason I didn't see it is because all my most trusted friends did and came back saying that it was the most boring thing they'd ever seen, that they hated it, that Haley was good but wasted in a movie that was otherwise completely abysmal, and that I would be completely wasting my time if I saw it. I can think for myself of course, but this was one of those situations where EVERYBODY said that the movie was utter crap.
I just kind of never bothered, and the lame F13 remake didn't do much to encourage me either. I also didn't like the more realistic approach to Freddy's burn makeup, he wound up looking like a Dr. Seuss character to me. I couldn't take him seriously. Then WB started cramming that version of Freddy into everything (the Mortal Kombat games and so forth) and I just got sick of the existence of the remake altogether. I DID appreciate the fact that they were bold enough to finally just come right out and admit that the character was a child molester, but from what I was told that was essentially the only change that was any good.
To each their own though. I despise The Blair Witch Project with a seething passion and that's one of the most profitable films ever made. I hated Birdman and it won an Oscar for best picture. Orson Welles and I come from the same town yet I thought that Citizen Kane was boring. I liked Godfather III better than Godfather II. Lol once again, to each their own. :)
Why don't you give it a chance? I assure you: you will not regret it! Just watch it with an open mind, and it will be a very interesting experience.

I think it's better to just not give them attention really. Though one time i brought a pink mori and killed someone who kept teabagging me when i got stunned and out of salt i killed them and sacrificed everyone else
Yes, most of the time ignoring it is the best option, but when you taunt someone who was toxic before at least it is justified.

That's a fair point. As an example, something as simple as giving the Trapper the Brown Bag add-on as a simple QOL change is something that almost everyone (other than the most biased people) could get behind, and it's something that's been suggested forever (including by some very prominent names in the community whose opinions should carry a lot of weight about game design/balance) -- yet, somehow something seemingly that simple hasn't been done. That alone is almost enough to make you shake your head and wonder how it hasn't been done yet, and how much longer it might be before it gets implemented (if ever). And that's just one example.
Precisely. It is honestly disheartening to see all of that feedback being ignored, as if those threads were created for nothing.

Don't be offended by this (I mean that, you're a nice guy and I'm saying it to be honest, not to offend) but you are, LITERALLY, the first person I have ever spoken to - and I mean EVER - who has said that they enjoyed the remake. I mean until today that's the only movie I've ever known of that I could honestly say no one has ever claimed to like in my presence. You are the first. :)
That doesn't make you a bad or "wrong" person in any way. I'm just shocked that this finally happened. XD
No worries, my dear friend, no offence taken :)
And yes, I really enjoyed the remake. I loved the scarier and darker approach and Jackie was super good as Freddy. The only thing I disliked was that they didn't stick to the idea of making Freddy innocent, but that is just a minor issue.
As for the chapter itself, I think at this point you've already figured out which killer I main, but it goes beyond that. Most ANOES content was very different on release, and in my opinion that was the best Chapter in Dead by Daylight's history.

If the developers are smart (that's up for debate sometimes), then they're IGNORING about 95% of what gets posted on this forum, particularly from so-called "mains" of either survivor or killer, who more often than not, are ignoring what's actually good for the balance of the game in favor of their biased self-interest, usually arrived at due to a complete lack of understanding of game mechanics from the perspective of their oppponents.
If they want feedback, there are some people here who have good, solid constructive ideas to share, and the hope is that the developers would take notes from them. But most of what's posted here -- the continual "change/nerf/etc. XYZ" threads are little more than a lot of noise than buries good ideas under the weight of the nonsense.
I think the main problem is that even when a solid and good idea gets the spotlight, it makes little to no difference.

A killer should only taunt a survivor if said survivor was toxic at some point, and vice-versa.

I'm glad to see some others backing up the original Chainsaw, and that so many others agree that the Nightmare license just wasn't as good as it should have been.
If you enjoyed the remake, like I did, ANOES Chapter was literally perfect on release.

Great! This one bug which never seems to get patched is still in the game...
Why am I not surprised?

It was one of my favourite games aswell.
Such a shame what happened to it 😔
Yeah, it had its flaws but it was a good game.
And I didn't have to worry about devs suddenly reworking my main :(
-
Precisely. People like this are merely one of many examples. If the auto-ban system ends up working the same way people think it will, then I would say 95% of the playerbase is going to get banned.

When you say stuff like this, it doesn't even feel like you're even saying anything about the chapter. More like you're just letting everyone know this is the first chapter release you've been around for.
TBH, even the people saying All-Kill and BoK just makes me think they weren't playing back during Flesh and Mud i.e. the chapter that actually nearly killed the game.
Well, I wasn't. I am talking about my own experience, which started when Darkness Among Us released. Out of every chapter I've seen, All-Kill was the worst.

It was a breath of fresh air in my opinion, art wise at least. I think Trickster is far more interesting to play than nemesis.
Well, if you somehow liked it more power to you. I know I hated it.
-
Well, in my opinion the killer role is on its easiest state and on its worst state at the same time.
And I am not saying this only because of my giant dissatisfaction with the current state of the game. I am saying this because I doubt any killer genuinely wants to deal with survivors holding W and pre dropping pallets while gens fly across the map.
-
@Mr_K said:
Are we forgetting Trickster? Or are we pretending that didn't happen still?
This.
All-Kill was, in my opinion, the worst chapter.
-Okay-ish survivor, but nothing especial about her.
-Terrible killer, which doesn't even fit the game.
-No new map.
-
Ghostface. The license applies only to the mask, but it gave us the most disgraceful killer in the game, no matter if you are playing as him or against him.
-
Don't get your hopes up, my friend.

I'm so sorry about that. I feel bad for all Freddy mains.
Thank you, I appreciate it! Losing your favourite is not a pleasant experience, at all.
-
This gives me a "sad, yet a little hopeful" vibe. I do have my fair share of complaints regarding the current state of the game. They may not be for the same reasons, but I understand where you are coming from.
However, a little bit of advice: Do not get your hopes up.

My first match with Reworked Freddy. It was awful, I was disheartened and everything felt wrong.

Ghostface as a mask is licensed. Ghostface as a character is completely original- Danny "Jed Olsen" Johnson exists nowhere but DBD and related fanworks.
So, no, all licensed characters have short lore.
Except Freddy, he does have a relatively big backstory. At least it is more detailed than others.
-
Nah, we can leave it. Doesn't make that much of a difference.
Edit: Unless this means that green perks will return to green. Then we can do it!
-
Trash, at best.
-
We are used to dealing with things regarded as busted. What is one more?
-
Congratulations! I know how it feels, and getting this achievement truly is one of the most satisfying things in DBD.
-
Good for you, my friend.
Though I am afraid I cannot say the same.

The faux outrage right on cue is adorable as usual.
As if you all even used Franklin's.
As if Survivors didn't just drop their key in a safe spot on the rare chance someone DID bring Franklin's.
Just another day in forum.dbd.
The outrage is justified. While it wasn't the most reliable counter, it was a counter.
I have prevented Survivors from escaping with a key because of FD and I am positive you have also done so.
And now, it is gone.
-
@Rizzo said:
The changes to Franklin's have been made because of the Vaccine with Nemesis, since a single use of Franklin's could destroy the Vaccine.
It makes sense, but the effect on keys should have been considered. Keys are extremely powerful and unfair, and such change makes it worse.
-
"Oh, such delicious irony"
-
@Pepsidot said:
Am I right to believe you cannot use a key to open the hatch once it has been fully consumed? So isn't this actually a buff in regards to keys? I presume it is consumed faster than it would be destroyed with the old FD.
Although there could be interesting counter plays to this by using Built To Last, which is kinda cool.
Key's charges are connected to add-ons. You can use a fully depleted key to open the hatch.
-
I should be surprised...yet I am not.

How do you suggest Behaviour recaptures that feeling you had playing the game back in 2018?
Other than giving me a time machine? I have no idea.
They would have to revert a lot of changes, and that is just impossible to happen.

What do you mean by that? What experience? It is fundamentally the same game no? Are you perhaps referring to Freddy?
Freddy is very important, yes, but it goes beyond him. Compare the game now to when I first started playing (2018). It feels like a different game.
And I hate it.

@RoboMojo said:

That doesn't sound healthy. If the game doesn't do it for you anymore then no one would blame you for moving on to other things. I myself am cynical of the games future but I just play it for what it is, not what it was. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts eh?
I don't want to go. I keep the illusion that eventually the game will provide me with the same experience it once did. And I can live with that illusion.
-
No, I am not happy. I play this game for what it once was, not for what it currently is.
