Honestly, this doesn't sound good at all.
-
I wouldn't. IW is fine.
-
I like every killer released until Spirit, and Spirit herself.
The others fall into questionable positions, especially Ghostface and Trickster. Those two I truly despise.
-
Welcome to the land of exile, Jarol!
I shall be your guide.
-
I've only ever took 2 breaks from DBD:
The first one was in 2019, and it lasted for roughly a month. The reason? A technical problem with my computer.
The second break is the one I am currently in. I've left because DBD looks nothing like the game I fell in love with back in 2018.
And if that game, which provided me with a level of enjoyment that no other game can, isn't going to return...then I have no reason to stay.

Yeah the only map that genuinely got better through the realm beyond imo was lery’s but the rest just suffered especially the game and the chapel
Ouch...that hurts.
Old Léry's was my favorite map in the game, by a very long shot. I LOVED it, both as survivor and killer. The rework ruined it for me.
The reworks ruined everything for me.

Tbh it wasn’t amazing to begin with but the fact that they thought breakable walls that block off entire rooms was a good idea is beyond me. Plus adding more safe pallets and not a single extra window
I find its old version to be amazing, but you know me.
Though it is undeniably better than that...thing that current DBD has. It is literally Pallet Town 2.0, but with Breakable Walls.

Hey, @GeneralV, thanks for replying. You're right about the ebbs and flows of toxicity and about Dead by Daylight having a bad reputation and history of toxicity. Any veterans like us know that and have seen it in the game and on the forum for years now. What I'm trying to ask and to understand is what active Killers think they are accomplishing. I'm fully prepared for that answer to simply be "Well I was mad at a different Survivor so I bullied other people" or "Well I don't like the game balance so I'm punishing other players for it" but I really do like to believe that people aren't that immature or vindictive. Perhaps there's not going to be an enlightening answer because this behavior is just petty, immature bullying but... I don't know. You know me! I try to see the good in people/situations or at least understand them. 😅
To be honest, their answer would probably be:
"I don't know".
-
This title scared me for a second...
-
I am probably not the best person to answer this right now. I've already left the game and have little to no idea of what is currently going on, so this posts about an increased toxicity are a mystery to me.
However, I believe that the toxicity in DBD comes from an endless cycle. T-bagger zero, and cursed may he be, probably annoyed a killer at some point and this killer got his revenge by annoying other survivors. In turn, those survivors annoyed a different killer, and the rest is history. Being toxic in DBD no longer has a meaning, it is just another part o this endless cycle.
-
Unpopular opinion: Spirit's collision and lack of vault animation made her stronger, but way more fun to play as and against.
-
A sad fate to what was once one of my favorite maps.
-
Me too.
Especially in the past. Her add-ons were a bit extreme, but I liked her collision.

Why revert Ruin? The Ruin we have nowadays is much better than the old one, it literally only punished newer players and had little to no effect on better players
If it has old, GeneralV is sold.
And besides, I loved Old Ruin.

What if I use my mesmerizing eyes on the devs and bring back old Freddy in return for your support? 👁️👄👁️
Bring back the old maps too and we have a deal.

@generalv Changed the question to any instead of 1
Then you are in for a ride!
-Revert Freddy back to his on-release version.
-Revert The Realm Beyond entirely.
-Revert Billy back to his old version.
-Revert Hex: Ruin back to its old version.
-Add menu customization.
-Delete the All-Kill Chapter.
-Bring Splinters back.
-Bring Moonlight offerings back.
-Delete Dead Dawg Saloon
And this list goes on and on. I am the most old-fashioned player this community has ever seen, so naturally I would change a lot of things.
-
Only 1? Well, then I would change Dead by Daylight's owner and give the game to myself xD.
On a serious note tho, I would revert Freddy back to his on-release version. All other issues are secondary.
-
Not so sure. I think Kindred should stay as a perk.
-
Well, not at all.
I had already left DBD prior to its introduction and haven't returned yet.
-
Freddy and Billy.
Pretty self-explanatory.

It may have been pallet town, but for Nurse this map was a field day with little to no fov blockers in the middle. Glorious memories of hooking someone with bbq and using omega blink to glide halfway across the map in a matter of seconds to smack someone was glorious. Op? Oh yeah. Fun? You bet your sweet ######### bippy.
That is true. Nurse always had advantages where other killers did not.
And you know me, my friend. I LOVE the old maps, and I would be extremely happy if they returned to the game.

What I wouldn't give to play on old blood lodge again.
Pallet Town? I would be down for that.
It was a difficult map for killers but at least it looked good and had a cool ambience.
Unlike The Game, which is a difficult map and looks bad.

Problem solved.

@Orion said:
Come on, they literally said "for the most part", but everyone's acting like they said "we're 100% satisfied and have no intention of changing him in any way whatsoever".
This is why the devs don't communicate with us. They say X, people distort it to mean Y.
This is but one little detail. 4 words more, 4 words less...it doesn't matter.
The point is: they nerfed Billy, regarded by many as the "golden standard" of DBD balance for killers. I doubt they even took Billy mains into consideration.
Actually no, I doubt they took the community itself into consideration. NO ONE wanted Billy to get nerfed, and they did it anyway. This change is hated to this day and hasn't being reverted yet. Heck, they haven't even acknowledged the fact that everyone hates it.
This is unacceptable, in my honest opinion.
-
We are talking about the same company which nerfed Freddy merely a week after its release, which nerfed Pig over and over again for no reason at all, and almost nerfed Demo's best add-on.
Trying to understand is pointless. All we can do is hope that Billy will get some love in the future, something that probably won't happen.
-
I don't really care about the DC Penalty, to he honest.
Certainly wouldn't oppose its removal. I mean, we've managed without it for years. What is a bit more?
-
Lucky.

He was unique, and ofc theres going to be that few that enjoy it, but the general feel was negative for him.
Again, it was silly to sit there and watch a survivor do objectives while you wait and I never want that back. I can't be alone either.
"I can't be alone either."
And you are not.
He was my main from the day I started playing to the day he got reworked, and being helpless to stop a gen from getting done right in your face was not pleasant. At all.
However, that could have been easily solved without a full rework. I've actually suggested something before:
-During the Dream Transition Survivors can see The Nightmare intermittently and they suffer from the Incapacitated status effect.
This was something that I've been suggesting in my concept for a Freddy rework. Just because we want him back, and rightfully so, doesn't mean his weaknesses will not be addressed.

I’ve heard a lot of people say that he was a fun and unique killer for both sides. Especially @GeneralV who is the best Freddy main I know.
You flatter me, my dear friend. I don't deserve such praise.
And yes, you are correct. Old Freddy was indeed a fun and unique killer for both sides. In my opinion, he was the best.

Nope I played against him like twice but never got the chance to play him myself
Oh... I did not know that.
I feel sorry for you, my friend. Playing him back in the day was simply amazing.
@TheStabbiNAngeL said:
I don't know old freddy, had a cool ability but he was pretty damn annoying ,being able to constantly tunnel you , and constantly keep track of you.I think you're forgetting about that part.I do miss him being completely invisible and able to put survivor's in the dream state yourself.
Maybe the could have widened the aura reading to like 62 meters and added all of his new abilities.
That was mostly on you, tbh. If you didn't bother to wake up, that would indeed make you an easy target.
-
Because his weird and unnecessary nerf made him less fun to play. A tragic end for a killer who was once considered the most balanced in the game.

Quite frankly, I have no sympathy for spirit players when 99% of them play because of how easy/strong she is. It’s toxic for the meta.
That is very wrong. I became a Spirit main in the aftermath of Freddy's rework, and it wasn't because of her sheer strength. It was because I liked the character.
It is impossible for you to know why 99% of the Spirit mains have chosen her, and it is not right to suggest something that would be unfair for them.

Honestly looking back on it I’m trying to figure out why they even did rework him. People were saying he was bad but then killers like trapper and legion haven’t got the same treatment.
Was it because he was too different? But nurse and hag both played less like an m1 killer than Freddy does. I just want to experience old Freddy for myself tbh
Well, I don't think anyone knows for sure...Perhaps it was meant to silence complaints about him, but that could've been solved without a full rework.
But in the end, BHVR is BHVR. We can only hope that they will see their mistake eventually and fix it.
"I just want to experience old Freddy for myself tbh"
Wait...You've never played him?

@SweetTerror said:

Yeah what I find interesting is how Freddy is still listed as a hard killer to play as, but he couldn't be more straightforward. Everything unique about him and the dream world has been completely changed. He couldn't be a more vanilla killer.
It is because they never bothered to change the difficulty rating after the rework.
And, fun fact: Old Freddy wasn't even rated as "Hard" in the very beginning. He was, if I recall correctly, Intermediate.
-
I like going against Spirit. It presents a type of challenge that no other killer does.
And besides, you need to think about the people that play her. Many players like Spirit, myself included, and that would not be fair for them.
-
MMR was destined to create unfair scenarios.
This was expected.

BHVR is really a hit or miss when it comes to balance changes right?
Either amazing (e.g Leatherface and Doctor reworks) or absolutely awful (e.g Freddy and Hillbilly)
But what makes it worse, is that they got it right on their very first try. Freddy on release didn't require a single change, yet they nerfed him after a week.
This is impossible to understand.

Yeah, don't really want to see another nerf to Piggy.

Unfortunately, no. I just can't stay without Freddy. I really love this character.

I always preferred it over Spine Chill. Don't really know why.
