I have almost 2000 on Skull Merchant!

I think he is fun to go against. But I really dislike playing as him.
I gave him a chance, really did, but I really don't like ranged killers / skillshots. It is not my thing, personally.

Sorry, I must have you confused with someone else. I do recall your posts about Freddy though.
It is alright, my friend, no worries :)
Yes, I did talk about Freddy a lot. Unfortunately I really don't find him enjoyable to play in his current state (EDIT: still above most of the others though, I should clarify that).

I disagree, I think it's always been pretty engaging to dodge the drone's beams. Hell, it's engaging to do that now, you just don't really need to anymore.
The only really unengaging thing about her is her throwing drones down at loops to force you to run away, and even that's not as potent as it is on other killers.
Yeah, pretty much.
Though I don't even think the "place drone leave loop" thing is a problem, drones are your power, they have to be useful.
Last year when many discussions were happening specifically regarding SM 2.0, I remember that me and a fellow Forum friend were trying to explain how to handle it in a chase and how her kit wasn't problematic. It still is very unfortunate that she got nerfed, her kit was fine as it was.

You a Mikaela main? Did you used to have a Bill pfp? I always saw you as a Bill main.
I'm afraid not, my friend. I never had a Bill pfp, nor have I ever been a Bill main.
I main Mikaela as survivor and, as of this moment, Skull Merchant as killer. Although, for a very long time I was a Claudette / Freddy main.
-
I'm happy with it.
The BP gains this event have been amazing so far. I've managed to finish my grind for P100 Mikaela, now I'm leveling up Skull Merchant (a long way to 100 still, but the event is helping), and personally I am having fun regardless of which role I play.

Interesting tier list, my friend!
While I disagree with Wesker, I'm happy to see my favorite killers in the "Depends on the build" tier. That means they have the potential of providing enjoyable games, which is always a good thing!
-
Not much, I'm afraid. I usually just try to work on gens, since that is what I usually do anyway, and if the killer hooks me then I let go. Give my teammate a chance to find hatch and escape.

Could be said that all killers need nerf and especially killers that are too good on pc. Ghoul is fine if we want killers to be power role.
I just had issue how killer sided most maps are. That makes all killers super oppressive.
I don't think all killers need to get nerfed, my friend. I think Ghoul needs a nerf.

Then it was just Survivor salt I guess. Which I still don't understand.
Recently, my friend, I was playing a Skull Merchant game on Léry's. 3 kills, and I let the Claudette get the door after she put on a show with Bardic Inspiration.
Cuts to the Endgame chat, and Renato is complaining a lot, claiming he was tunneled. Thing is, Renato was not hooked twice in a row. He was the first to get found, yes, but after that at least two survivors were hooked before he got his next hook, twice. It couldn't possibly be tunneling, tunneling always requires the killer to focus on a particular survivor, and yet Renato claimed he got tunneled.
Some players out there, killers and survivors, complain just for the sake of complaining. Some are, unfortunately, toxic about it. And some of them just refuse to accept that they could have played differently, and always blame the other side.
-
Well, friend, while Wesker is, by far, my least favorite killer in the game, I definitely think Ghoul has one of the worst designs in DBD's history.
He is an extremely oppressive killer that leaves basically no room for counterplay. It is my opinion that he needs more nerfs, the ones he already got were not enough.
-
Personally, my friend, I define tunneling as a killer targeting one specific survivor until they are dead, to the point where the killer would drop whatever they are doing to chase this survivor again as soon as they got unhooked.
In your match here, I don't think it was tunneling. The survivor gave up, they wanted to leave the match, and even then you went after someone else. Not even the wildest definition of tunneling would include this scenario, imho.

Hahahaha, definitely not my old friend!
Worst DBD experiences I've had.
-
Add: an option to use the old powers of killers who got reworked to a point where their gameplay changed substantially (except Legion).
Remove: Wesker.
-
Interesting situation with Singularity, my dear friend, before this thread I thought most players liked him.
-
This Tier List of mine is a bit older than the "Fun To Play Against" in my thread, just added Springtrap and Ghoul here, but I think it is still up to date.
-
There isn't much you can really do against Ghoul, to be honest, this killer is unfair.
Best thing you can do is get lucky with the maps and don't waste time, make sure the gens get done as fast as possible.

Pretty much the majority of them up to Twins imo, then it went downhill from there.
Almost all of the killers I absolutely despise versing started at and includes Twins, so I wont waste my time with a tier list as its pretty simple to sum up for me. I prefer the old school killers without a doubt
Fair enough, my friend, that is a fair point.
I do believe killer design was, overall, better in the past, but there are exceptions. Skull Merchant, Knight, Springtrap, Singularity, these are all killers that I really enjoy.
@CrossTheSholf said:

Interesting watching Hag bounce around. I was under the impression Hag was pretty universally disliked by Survivors. Legion is also surprisingly high 😶
Skull Merchant hate is wild to me. Her drones basically do nothing so you just use her drones to be a 4.6 Undetectable m1 killer. She is basically a worse version of Wraith now, but unable to do any of the things that make Wraith dangerous and disliked by some people.
Pig love is surprising... after so many people were supporting that 30s timer increase in her last set of changes, kinda got the feeling people hated her... 🐽
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/DEJF2LO0EHMH/my-image.png
I enjoy my games vs. Killers most of the time, just the killers that scored lower often have really cheesy or lame strategies they can use, frequent moments where you just can't avoid a hit, or are otherwise capable of (and often using) mean and obnoxious builds.
I wish I could place Hag higher myself... on the rare occasion I see a Hag, she catches 1 survivor and traps the crap out of hook... and aomwonenin AoloQ always falls for it. When I play Hag, I always focus on maintaining my Web, and a good Hag is lots of fun and has me constantly on edge... but I've only ever seen 1 or 2 other players do this and play Hag properly... and that really sucks 😕
Singularity almost found himself lower... but... a lot of his nastier combos keep getting nerfed, and not many Singularity's use them in my MMR. Nurse is another outlier, cause in my MMR, I still quite often get some pretty fun Nurse games.
It sure is interesting to look at the results here, my friend!
What makes a killer fun changes heavily, there is no universal agreement.

Yea I get it we all have the ones we despise. I too dont particularly enjoy him, hes a one trick pony and very unoriginal to go against. You load in and you already know how things are going to play out pretty much there is very little "revolutionary" Weskers out there.
"Me see unhook me double dash immediately back to unhook notification, me succeed, me laugh"
Definitely in the crowd for me of too much movement too little cd.
To be clear I think the exact way of nurse as well. Shes unbalanced as hell, just because I love to see what others do with her, does not mean I think shes fair by any means.https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3962068#Comment_3962068
Yea would agree with this sentiment as well. Its not so much about the specific killer but how they play.
If we got some turbo tunneling blight/kaneki I kind of just laugh. Seems to be the majority of my opponents are those two killers and how they play as well.
I dont get to face the killers I like to face, everyone just wants the path of least resistance and originality it would seem. Is what it is
edit: As an aside guess what killer I got to face my first match of the day and how they were playing?

I'm actually sorta with you on Wesker. He's not that much fun, I think there's other Dash Killers that feel more fun. Also I've run into A LOT of really rude Weskers. It's kinda tainted my opinion of the character.https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3962029#Comment_3962029
I mean this very kindly and seriously: If you truly find 95% of the Killer roster unfun and unfair, do you even really enjoy DBD?
Doing good, my friend, thank you for asking! Currently in my permanent-unless-reworked Skull Merchant phase and trying to P100 her. How about you? I hope you are doing well!

Primarily being held in stalemate 3 gen situations for upwards of half an hour in what is the closest we have in the current game to old "chess merchant". Having as many as 3 cameras on each of the last 3 gens, and spaced in such a way that you need multiple EPMs to even start repairing. On top of other toxic strategies of cameras on top of slugs or recent exit gate strategies.
Then there's the autoaim shots, the fact he's never punished for getting outplayed at a tile. It doesn't matter how well you loop, he can always autoaim back on top of you in seconds. I also don't find his voicelines or general design scary or interesting at all.
I think if he hadn't directly followed the most hated killer of all time, he would have taken a lot more heat.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, my friend, I think I have a better understanding of where you are coming from.
Though I must say that I personally almost never go against 3 gen Singularity. In my experience, it is a very rare scenario.

No surprise SM is near the bottom of my list.
Sort of feel bad for her mains though, well, just not the weird ones. Kinda like the few that called themselves Twins mains for the time after their release til their failed rework. Felt bad for them.
Doesn't mean the Killer isn't still absolute cheeks to play against though.
Honestly, my friend, it is really interesting how different our approaches are to one killer, who is either at the best tier possible, or the worst.
Skull Merchant is an interesting case because I wasn't really here for most of the 3 gen mess… well, I was, but only in the very last one or two days, so I don't have the "release bias" like others do, and like I have for Legion (very obvious reasons, my dear friend, you were there you know how bad it was).
The only time I ever disliked her was like, the first ten or so matches I played against her after the rework where my teammates would DC for no reason, but I moved past that. Skull Merchant 2.0 was, in my honest opinion, perfect. Not a single thing I would change about her. Quickly became one of my favorite killers to go against and, as of this moment, she is my favorite killer to play as, despite the nerfs.
That will remain as long as the design previews do not, under any circumstances, go live. That would be horrible.
If I may ask, old friend, what caused Singularity to be placed at the bottom tier?
-
@ChuckingWong said:

Why do you HATE weskin time!?
Yeah, he is easily the killer I hate most in DBD.
And it is mostly because of how bloated his kit is for a dash killer. A killer whose primary power is movement based cannot have so many things in their kit, otherwise there is very little you can actually do to stop them.
Wesker gets dash, injury on windows, passive slowdown with the infection, killer instinct when you remove the infection, and he can throw you on a random direction which no other killer can do. It is too much, way too much.
That doesn't make him impossible to beat, of course, but it makes him utterly miserable to go against, in my opinion.
@LockerLurk said:
Mine's a little something like this and it's contingent on how they play, how well they play (I want them to play the Killer correctly), and how vibey their mains usually are. If they're based around a particularly unfun playstyle or often run particularly unfun builds on that Killer, it's instantly a tier lower. If I find the Killer's mechanics just generally annoying they tend to also go down a tier.
LockerLurk!
It is good to see you again, friend!
Our lists are very, very different now that I'm looking at them, but that is the fun part of seeing the different perspectives on each killer.

From their perspective, empathy for my opponents. And it so sad they are in the states they are in. PTB included for the pig.
Fair enough, my friend.
I do think Pig is better in the PTB, but Skull Merchant really needs her nerfs reverted, because her current state is weak (though still extremely fun imho) and the design previews were terrible.

I don't know if I "like" going against any of them anymore. Not a lot of memeing anymore, lots of camping/tunneling/slugging at 5 gens. Very few stand out anymore.
Historically I did like Trapper because he's one of the rare exceptions that changes the nature of the trial and is pretty interactive. We need more of those.
It is unfortunate we have these bad experiences, my friend.Though honestly I don't mind if killers do not meme around, but I don't like camping/tunneling/slugging either. A normal match is more than okay, ya know?

Notes
B is like indifferent, leaning either good or bad.
•Nurse only because I like to see how others play my original main.
•Meyers broken addons they all play the same
•Blight is a joke, everything wrong with dbd top tier killers. Too much movement, no cooldown.
•Pig/SM hate because its just unfair with how weak they are.Very interesting choices here, my friend!
I think the killers we enjoy playing as tend to be more enjoyable to play against than the others, it is interesting. And I agree completely regarding Blight, yes.
Though, I must ask: Pig / Sm being low is because they are so weak that they provide an enjoyable experience, or because it is unfair from their perspective?

Kiillers aren't in order in their individual tier lists so Dracula isn't my favourite of the all good for example, though it is fitting wesker is last & I didn't particularly do it that way just dropped him in first.
& before anyone asks Demo has my number for some reason, its almost always in the end game too so i'd rather not!
I won't quit no matter who the killer is nor will I give up, never have. But 2 games back to back with Wesker, I'm playing something else, ghoul & spring trap are about that point too but i'm giving them the new content benefit until the summer is over!

- Note: Nurse and Blight are very fun only when the player is "normal" and not the "GOD of killers". I'm traumatized by the "old" Skull Merchant... I still can't appreciate her even if she is not very strong.
Thank you very much for your replies, my friends, I sincerely appreciate them!
After going through everyone's lists here it is really interesting how different the perspectives are. Skull Merchant, that I have in my highest tier @Pulsar has on his lowest, while the character I hate most is one of @ImWinston 's favorites.
But I did notice the similarities: @LegacySmikey shared hatred for Wesker, my dearest friend, truly an insufferable killer. And it also seems Bubba ranks reasonably high on literally every list so far. So does Myers, actually. Ghouls seems disliked, overall, but didn't always make it to the bottom of the lists.

I had this exact thing happen earlier. I was playing Scratched Mirror Myers and when it was down to the final two I saw the Meg was working on a gen then slipped into a locker. The Quentin had been crouching around alot through out the match. He tried to snitch on the Meg in the locker. I downed him and pulled her from the locker. Hooked his ass then gave the Meg hatch. Such a satisfying ending.
A similar thing happened to me a couple years ago, my friend. If I recall correctly I was playing Freddy on pre-rework Torment Creek, and David tried to snitch on Élodie who worked on a gen, main building I think, then hid in a locker.
Ended up giving Élodie the hatch, and I remember her "Thanks Freddy" in the post-game chat.

He may played well, but he still died and it's easier to blame the killer than trying to figure out what he could do differently. I would say that comes to ego, because it seems he consider tunneling the only way for him to die.
And really, DC when he is about to die in few seconds is very funny to me, simply because it doesn't make sense.Yeah, it was odd. Like, he is already dead at that point, might as well get the bloodpoints, especially during the anniversary. He wasted a cake for no reason.
Maybe he didn't like the fact that he was the first to get found. But tunneling? No, he wasn't tunneled. Not even the wildest definition of tunneling would include that Renato's experience, he played a normal match.
-
@PetTheDoggo said:
Well, I think it's pretty funny. If player quit during the game for any reason other than IRL emergency, it's just sad. Learn to control yourself a little…
I personally try to wait to get someone out of the game at like 1-2 gens left, unless survivors really asked for it, or by accident…
Survivors who quit for tunneling, usually simply has fragile ego and their performance in the game did not back it up.Well, my friend, last night I played a game as Skull Merchant on Léry's and there was this one Renato who disconnected right as he was about to get sacrificed, and in the end he complained about tunneling.
Now, I have no idea what he was talking about because he was not hooked twice in a row. In fact, at least two survivors were hooked before he was hooked again, twice.
I don't think this was fragile ego or poor performance in the game, Renato played well, but I have no idea what it was.

Well, I usually only buy new characters if I really want their perks or if I intend to play them.

You are just describing what survivors have to deal with in every match though, why are you okay with survivors dealing with the most unfair moments you could have in DBD per your own words? I'm not trying to argue or disparage you but I want to understand why it's okay for one side and not the other.
Personally, I am not struggling with any unfair hits as survivor recently. Seems to me there are other things making the survivor role worse than it used to be.
But sure, when these situations happen they have to be fixed. Like that desync a couple of patches after Twins release. It existed only in the survivor perspective and it was awful, it had to be fixed.
I'm just saying that I think a validation mechanic, like the stun validation or Dead Hard from the past, shouldn't be implemented again, as they created unfair situations.
-
@Virtualguy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3961291#Comment_3961291
Let me ask you a question, would you be okay with hits being validated on the survivor side? Personally I would not be because I don't think that the game should be fundamentally rigged in the favor of one side.
In your case you have to realize you didn't actually get the hit. According to both the survivor and the unbiased server you were nowhere close to the hit. It's not fun for survivors to outplay the killer and get punished because the killer has bad ping. The game should not be fundamentally biased in favor of killers or survivors.
After that mess in 2021, my friend, I don't think a validation mechanic should ever be implemented again. Those were some of the most unfair moments you could have in DBD.
-
@Virtualguy said:
Really the only solution is to make hits server validated instead of killer client validated. But I don't think that will happen.
A validation mechanic was tested for hits in 2021 if I recall correctly, but the result was awful.
I remember a match where I was playing on Swamp: I hit a David King, I saw the blood I hear the scream… and he walked away as if nothing had happened.
EDIT: It was a "stun validation". If you wish to read more about it:
@vacaman said:
In a single match i've got a hit through a pallet 3 times and saw the survivor down but the game decides that nah, let's give him another chance. I don't know what hit validation have they changed in this patch but AT LEAST don't show on my screen that i have downed the survivor for instants later have him be up again not only making me frustrated but losing chase distance because i thought he was down. Now you don't only get robbed of grabs, you apparently get robbed of hits too.
-
Yep, that is the big question.
The character was reworked to remove double team scenarios, which means the Knight shouldn't work alongside his guards. But if the Knight cannot work alongside his guards, then they need to be a threat: their AI needs to be precise, they need to get hits, they need to keep survivors busy.
However, if the Knight is supposed to work with his guards and go for double team pincer attacks, then they don't need to be as effective because the Knight himself is the threat.
The problem, is that option 1 was chosen, but the guards are not effective enough for that to be viable, especially after these recent changes. That doesn't mean you will lose every match you play as Knight, of course, but the power isn't structured the way it should be, in my opinion.
-
Yeah, I noticed it earlier today!
Really glad they did it, it is nice to have a little bit of Fog back.

I think Huntress was fine before her last set of changes, but overall I don't think she is in a bad state right now.

if there is to be a timer then it needs to start at down with the condition that two survivors are left.
I'm not certain what that time should be because of legit reasons to the survivor being left on the floor.
In the OP example we could say the proxy of the killer could be used but that wouldn't work if the killer backs away or goes hunting for the 4th.
How about the situations where the 4th survivor is in view. This is where my criticism comes in for the original suggestion. Should the killer be forced to pick up the 3rd and allow the 4th to go hide?
If there is to be any option for the 3rd to leave forcing the hatch race then it needs to be fair in the course of a normal game and not an edge BM scenario.
To be fair, my friend, if only survivors 3 and 4 are left, and you down survivor 3, there is really no reason to leave them on the ground unless you see survivor 4 right away.
If the timer starts as soon as you down survivor 3, there should still be enough time to down survivor 4 if you see them. And, if you don't see them, you can't just keep slugging for the 4k until survivor 3 dies.
That seems reasonable, I would say, but we would still need to determine the specifics of the timer.

That explains why I don't recall. I started playing about 2 weeks before ST left. It's the reason I started playing because I didn't want to miss out on the chapter.
Yes, I remember the Cypress Mori compensation now!
Thank you!
No problem, friend, glad to help :)

So you have to leave someone on the floor during the match due to pallet save risk or flashlight and they end up being the 2nd to last. Its completely fine they pop out of existence the moment they hit the floor?
No, I disagree.
Good point, my friend.
How much time do you think would be enough?

I don't recall. Have they ever compensated for retired offerings?
Hawkins and Cypress Mori come to mind.
