Oh yeah on Dead Dawg Saloon. Wish the map was better than that.
That I agree with.
But it was a good match nonetheless.

Last time I saw a Spirit was when we played together, tbh.

Im intrested as to what the other one is. Old styptic/anti-hem, Old BNP, 6 blink Nurse?
Old Legion.

Only after his rework though, but yes.

Not to throw my cents into this,
but did you play other killers at the time, or was it almost exclusively Freddy? Because that changes the argument a hell of a lot.
I played a few other killers too, but mostly Freddy.
I also played a bit of Bubba, Wraith and Myers. Of course, Freddy always took the spotlight, but those three were there too.
EDIT: Huntress too! Forgot about her.

You guys are trying to pick fights you can’t win. General has more input on old Freddy than any of you have put together. Trying to argue with him about it like you know more than him is like trying to argue with me about Spirit.
Thank you, my friend <3
You are absolutely correct. I may not be the best killer out there, far from it, but by the Entity I am dedicated to Old Freddy.

I must admit...he is the reason I bought the game, so I am not unbiased (huge Englund fan....it was as close to a Freddy PC game as I could get....unrelated but I own ANoES on NES and C64 >_>)
I bought the ANOES DLC together with the base game, back in 2018.
First killer I played.
Good times.

I mained pre-rework Freddy and miss him, too :(
It was really hard (in a fun way) at higher ranks when people would run in front of your sleep beam to take aggro, body block while they weren't asleep (causing strikes to go through them), win/lose the sleep timer 'mind games', and probably other nuances I've forgotten.
He was basic/easy enough to play with a powerful slow down that came with a huge drawback (basically losing ~10% of a solo gen any time you wanted to engage with someone), but required BOTH the Killer and Survivor to know how to play around these unique strengths and weaknesses -
The only real issue I could see with old Freddy was AFK Freddy....but with MMR that wouldn't matter, either.
Raccoon, I cannot thank you enough. After all of those discussions, you don't know how good it feels to see a friendly and reasonable face <3
And yes, I agree with everything you've said and more. I just wish everyone could see it.
-
Pretty sure it won't.

Ehhhh, I'm not sure I am convinced, admittedly. But I respect your opinions on the matter nonetheless.
Very well, then. I do not need your trust, nor do I want it.
Respect towards other opinions is more than enough.

You strike me as extremely biased toward the old, so forgive me for being skeptical of you being the most reliable source of information on the matter. :P
My love for the subject doesn't make me blind to its flaws, TAG.
Flaws that I myself pointed out and came up with ways to fix, I might add.

I played a lot Legion in his early days, but I felt kinda bad for the survivors. This killer was overperforming similar to "Mettle Of Man". I would still put old "Decisive Strike" to the list
Old Freddy was my first main killer and Im missing him a lot. When the devs announced his rework I played him only and the last day with him was really hard to me.
I still remember the day he got reworked.
Worst DBD day I've ever had.

Because you like playing as a killer who
- Can't stop Survivors from unhooking right in front of him
- A power that can be countered by simply failing a skill check or being near a generator explosion
- Being forced to wait for a transition period to end which in the meantime let's Survivors move to the safety of a pallet before it finishes
- A killer who after putting Survivors to sleep was nothing more than a standard M1 killer with nothing else to help him in chases.
- A killer who was very addon and perk dependant.
Sorry, but that doesn't sounds like a fun killer nor a very strong killer to me, and many others didn't find him fun nor strong to play as either back then and that's just a fact, that's why there were alot of people asking for him to be reworked.
Also how dedicated you are to your killer doesn't change anything to me, i didn't like the iteration of his gameplay back then and that certainly wouldn't change for me now should they revert most of it to how it was.
So i'm afraid we're gonna have to agree to disagree on old freddy.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2835477#Comment_2835477
People can talk about freddy all they want, just because you're dedicated to him doesn't mean that it's for you to gatekeep who's allowed to talk about him or not.
It is not a matter of gatekeeping.
Say, imagine you are in a school, and you wish to learn geography. You can talk to every single student if you want to, and they will have their own points to discuss, but the best approach is to talk to a geography teacher, because they are the ones who studied and dedicated themselves to the subject.
I am not a top tier player, nor one of the best killers around, but I am dedicated to Freddy. Just ask around.
I was merely asking OP, in a comment that was not directed towards you, to leave the talks about the subject to me because of this very reason.
EDIT: As for your first comment, we may agree to disagree.
I will press that particular matter no further.

No, it wasn't actually. Because most of the times Freddy was a "free" escape. They all know that.
And you know what the worst feeling was as Freddy without NOED? There was nothing you could do.
Relying on NOED is just pathetic, and that goes for every killer.
I can safely assure you that there way WAY more a skilled Freddy player could do.
I just wish I could show you what I have to offer. What he had to offer.

Showing footage of survivors that play mediocre at best against a experienced Killer who is also trying pretty hard to win isnt really a proper way to show or proof anything.
You could do some pressure with Freddy back then but if you had more then 5 brain cells you could easily reset without much issues. I met back then quiete a few old Freddy mains and me and my squad bullied them all, some even Dcd cuz they just couldnt keep up. If you have enough experience you can outweight his strategy rather easily. Not saying current Freddy is much better but old Freddy wasnt really a "hidden top tier killer" as some ppl make it out to be. its porbably just nostalgia.
Please, just stop.
I've doing this for two years, I've dealt with enough already.
Please leave the Freddy talk for someone who truly understands him.

Okay, I've played the old Freddy era. I still remember the feeling when I went against him. Easy.
Well, so have I.
To believe the match was won the moment you saw him was a terrible mistake.

@Smoe said:

Or maybe people just didn't enjoy playing a killer who had almost nothing going for him except maybe 2 things at most.
Also it doesn't matter what a streamer says, people will still have opinions on killers that's different from theirs.
Well, if you don't wanna go with Otz, then go with me.
Go with someone who was more dedicated to that killer than anyone ever was and ever will be. Just ask around if ya doubt it.
I can, without a shadow of a doubt, assure you that he was not the worst killer. Not even close.
-
@ThanksForDaily said:

GeneralV does not like some stuffs from old DbD, wow! Should we worry about apocalypse, friend? 🤔
There were just two things from the past which I did not enjoy, Old MoM and Old Legion, so it is all good.
The apocalypse is not coming yet.

I know that juggle and pressure build/playstyle but it still wasnt strong, it was mediocre at best.

I can help ya.

oh man old Freddy, sry to say this but old Freddy was just upright bad 🤣 Current Freddy isnt much better though.
I can prove you wrong with a single match, if BHVR listen to me.
-
Do you have even the slightest idea of how terrible it was to be a Freddy main against Old MoM?
A killer that was all about control doesn't exactly should deal with a third, unavoidable health state.
Old MoM is one of the two things from the past that I do not miss, which is saying something.

love ya buddy but sometimes things do need to be changed.
i certainly support your crusade to return the game to how it felt in years gone by, but some changes were just good for the games health.
for example, old BNP's and old Mori's.
It does have some counters, though.
Delaying his Stalk by being more stealthy or getting into a locker can help you fight against this add-on, at least on most circumstances.
As for the rest of the message, know that I appreciate the support :)

-
Your comment is a hell of an overreaction and harsher than it should be, but the idea of reverting Doctor is a good one.
I always loved the concept of having two different modes.
-
You're goddamn right!
-
Honestly, no.
I first found out about DBD within a specific scenario, and what I discovered in 2018 was a very different, and a thousand times better, game than what we have today. That game is what I fell in love with.
If I had found the game earlier I would definitely play it, but the current game? I guarantee it would not have interested me.
It doesn't interest me.
-
Laurie Strode and Freddy Krueger.
-
I prefer either "gg wp" or silence.
-
Probably not, to be honest.
It takes a "1.9.2 level threat" for BHVR to listen to us.
-
I remember a trial, VERY long ago, when I managed to rescue a teammate from one of the most dedicated campers I have ever seen.
One could not possibly forget that silent approach, the juke, BT's effect providing a false sense of security, the opened Gate in the distance with its promises of freedom, the macabre sound of Hillbilly's chainsaw echoing in the farmhouse and beyond...
It was glorious.

Badham is a very strong map for good survivors and the RNG can be a real pain in the a**. But I wouldn't call it the worst killer map.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2834358#Comment_2834358
I miss old Freddy too. I mean yeah he wasn't the strongest killer and needed some love but I'll never understand why the developers completely changed his unique playstyle.
I suppose no one will ever understand.

Tunneling is a valid strategy.
Pre-dropping pallets, body blocking, and 99% doors are also valid strategies.
The only problem is that all of them are boring, except body blocking.

@Phasmamain said:
Honestly between the 2nd worst map in the game, the most boring killer, 6 mediocre perks, an okay survivor and no new cosmetics it’s surprising NOES hasn’t just been removed yet
I would've expected such a comment from a lot of Forum members, but not you.
Yes, currently the ANOES DLC has some of the worst content in the entire game, but it wasn't always like that. On-release, the chapter came with the best killer they have ever designed, a very interesting map (OG Badham) and the best survivor in the game.
Not to mention that perks like Remember Me, Blood Warden and Vigil had far more uses back then.
And the way to fix this is to revert them, make the chapter as good as it once was. Not deleting them. This is something that shouldn't even be mentioned.
-
Supportive, of course.
OP knows about my undying passion for what the game used to be, and should still be.
