She is really, really, really easy to play. You just need all of the things you would need to perform ok with all of the other killers: headphones, map awareness and the ability to understand who and when to chase. Other than that, aside from being a guessing game that works much more in her favor than it could ever do for survivors, she is extremely easy. Of course, if you lack into those areas, you are going to struggle, but that is true for every killer. If not, well, dinner is served. Especially if you play her with Stridor.

Well considering how many survivors DC/suicide on hook the moment they see it’s a Spirit, I’d say she’s pretty easy because of that. Git gud.

  • That’s a good question but I’ll say no. Since Undying has been changed to allow the stacks of other hex perks to stay, I think Devour Hope + Undying will be the new meta. Since you have to be 24 meters away from the hook to get a Devour Hope stack, camping will result in Devour Hope becoming useless. Devour Hope + Undying will discourage camping because of this, so no the Ruin + Undying nerf is good for survivors.

  • No she isn’t easy. Compared to Nurse she’s easy, but compared to Freddy, she’s very difficult. I think that MOST people that think she’s a skill less killer only say that to make Spirit players feel bad for themselves because she isn’t a fair killer, which I do agree she isn’t fair coming from a Spirit main, but the player still needs to be good with her for her to be unfair.

Yeah I didnt actually mean it. Do you remember the bug where you could hear her go past you when phasing? All they need to do is implement that and ta-daa, she's fixed.

Also I want to say I'm sorry life hasn't been treating you the best. This pandemic sure as hell hasn't helped.

Yeah, I remember that bug. I wish they would’ve kept it in because it was awesome playing my killer without having to feel bad.

Also, thank you for understanding. I’m sorry if I came across as defensive. I don’t mean to lash out my frustrations on others, so my apologies. <3

Her biggest problem is that she has little to no indication about her phasing during chase. A lot of people including myself find this annoying because playing against her is just one big guessing game.

It doesn't help that I play against her almost every single game either.

Alright, well how about we fix the issues she has instead of removing her. I love her to death and I understand that her gameplay has issues that need to be addressed. I get that you're just joking about removing her but I'm serious when I say I'd go through depression if she was removed. My life sucks atm and Spirit is one of the only few things that's actually keeping me happy right now.

  • Why would you remove Spirit? I would be heartbroken and go through serious depression if she was removed.

  • It’s super underrated. It’s saved me from many situations where I would’ve died otherwise.

Nobody shitted on you yet. Im just saying killer's life is not so easy if you're not spirit or nurse main.

I also play a lot of Pig, Blight, and Billy. I just play Spirit the most. I’m not saying every game I play is easy wins, I’m saying solo queues are easy to beat most of the time because the solo queue experience sucks for the survivors.

  • Wow I don’t even have to mention Spirit to get shitted on for being a Spirit main. This community has to be the worst of any game ever.

  • I have no problem with survivor teams communicating. It makes it interesting and it feels good to beat teams like that. Most matches where I’m going against solos, it’s usually easy dubs no matter which killer I play.

  • @EvanSnowWolf said:

"rewards the killer for playing badly"

    No, it doesn't.

Yes it does. Killers that failed to create pressure get a free kill or two even when they don’t deserve it.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

If you're going to nerf NOED because you think it rewards bad playing, then you should also be making compliant threads asking to nerf DS, Dead Hard and Keys. They all reward survivors for playing poorly.

The Devs have repeatedly stated that NOED is fine.

It punishes lazy survivors for not cleansing totems.

If it was nerfed then survivors would have less of a reason for cleansing dull totems, which they hardly do these days.

If the killer was bad and had to rely on NOED to get a kill, then the survivors should have had an easy time wasting the killers time by looping them long enough to do the gens and cleanse totems.

If the killer was so good that you had no time to do totems, then you were just out matched.

You don't have to cleanse all 5 totems to get rid of NOED, just can cleanse the ones you notice that are in hard to find spots or just remember where they are. After the last gen pops, go back to the ones out in the open to check if it is lit.

You can stealth at the start of the match and look for totems. I personally do this and find 3 totems by the time two gens pop in less than three minutes. I know, I can rush a gen instead, but I like my games to last more than 4/5 minutes.

You can bring a map, small game or detectives hunch to counter totems.

In the end, the fault for getting hit by NOED is totally in the hands of survivors. The survivor role is a team role with an option to be solo, so the fault for it lies on the whole group. It isn't OP or unfair, you and anyone else who complains about it are just whining to make the game easier for you.

If you nerf NOED, which isn't even used all that often, I guarantee you that we will only get longer queue times and face the same Nurse, Spirit, Blight and Freddies over and over. I rather not have that.

Imagine if killers could cleanse totems and remove your exhaustion perks, unbreakable, DS, or even the ability to heal. You would all riot.

Ok first off I never said I didn’t have complaints about Dead Hard, D Strike and keys. They’re all issues and I’m aware of that. I was just stating my idea I have for fixing NOED. There’s no need for you to make assumptions about me favoring one side over the other because I really don’t. FYI, I play both sides almost equally and maybe a little more of killer, but I do have a good understanding of survivor as well.

You’re argument for countering NOED is “do the bones.” Unless you have Detective’s Hunch, going out of your way to find 5 totems that have potential to spawn in nasty spots is way too much to ask for. Especially since you’re cleansing 5 totems to hopefully counter a perk that the killer may or may not even have. Comms can do it easier than solos obviously, but not everyone plays in comms, so that’s just yet another disadvantage solo queue survivors have.

One of the many issues of NOED is that the survivors have no way of knowing the killer has it until a survivor is affected by it. So as I said, cleansing totems at the start of the match just to counter NOED is not a reliable counter because for all you know, you could be wasting time doing totems instead of gens and the only reward you get from dull totem cleansing is bloodpoints (and Inner Strength if you have it I guess) if the killer doesn’t have NOED.

Oh man sorry wasn't trying to throw #########.

Reread what I posted and kind of came off like that though. What I mean is I see a lot of genuine posts about this and people do get really upset about it, (which is a bit over the top as its just a game).

Wasn't directing that at you personally just wondering overall if folk who genuinely get put out about this really understand how silly it all is?

Yeah, that is true. Sorry if I came across as rude. I don't blame you for saying what you said because the constant whining on the forums does get annoying and repetitive.

    in Bubba Comment by GannTM
  • I’m not sure how Oni being a man has anything to do with that.

  • @pseudechis said:

There is one gen left and no deaths, what's this guys incentive to not just camp one out at this point?

They clearly haven't succeeded in chasing survivors down so the logical conclusion now is to switch up and rely on the players to come to you and kill themselves with altruism. Which LF can really punish.

I'm not sure how this community keeps failing to see that at this point camping probably makes more sense than chasing. Do people just not know how the game works? Or is there just a portion of the community who are so wrapped up in how they think the game should be played that any deviation from that is somehow a malicious assault on their fun?

I'm not trying to troll here I'm genuinely perplexed.

Did I ever say it wasn't the smart move? I'm just posting this for content and humor. No need to throw ######### at me.

A successful BT against a Bubba? I can only imagine how your luck is gonna bite you in the ass...

    >next game

    >face a Nurse

    >Jake'll go down in 4s

    >he'll be hooked right next to you

    >the Nurse then will just stare at you with an unfathomable amount of 'ara ara' energy and she'll DC, knowing she's going to win

Well I did get two Deathslingers in a spam of 5 survivors matches tonight so you’re right about me getting unlucky 😂

  • @Keezo said:

I mean... he's lost, and Bubba gets 1 kill no matter what, since 1 down in the endgame is easy, so you're teammates have just been given an infinitely easier game.

And the 2 that aren't Nea seem to be going for that easy win

Funny enough, they set up for a BT play after the last gen popped and we all ended up escaping.

    in Bubba Comment by GannTM
  • If I get a 4k or if I get a 3k and last guy finds hatch or gates after I close hatch, that's a win. If all the gens get done and at least one person escapes, it's a loss.

  • I can never get bored of playing Spirit

  • People have really forgotten about Vommy Mommy. I love her power and I would have a lot more fun playing her if it weren’t for dedicated servers.

  • I'm a Meg and Spirit main

  • Spirit for me. Honestly couldn’t care less if she was a strong killer or not, I just find her so enjoyable.

  • Im honestly so confused

  • But to answer your question, I’ll say Oni is stronger because his snowball potential is like none other.

  • You just need to practice. You don’t just pick them up the moment you start playing them and instantly do well with them. I play Billy regularly and he’s still a strong killer as much as people wanna say the nerf killed him.

  • I’m a nice Spirit main and it’s my pleasure to be fair to the lovely survivors that don’t insult me for playing my favorite killer :)

  • This is such bad bait it literally kills me

  • You see, this is such a hard question to answer because she’s not OP imo. The issue with Spirit is that she doesn’t give feedback to survivors about what she’s doing, making her 1v1 unbalanced. I think if we’re looking at it from a 4v1 POV, she’s strong enough to beat good teams but it’s 100% possible to beat her, therefore I actually think she’s balanced in the 4v1. Back when Prayer Beads was such a joke, everything about her was busted if she had that add on equipped, but that doesn’t exist anymore.

I think all Spirit needs is to give survivors a reasonable counter while still having an incredibly strong 1v1. I do believe she will get reworked some time this year, it’s just uncertain whether the devs will somehow make her OP, super weak, or balanced.

  • Meg - I usually switch out perks for her but my main build is WGLF, Borrowed Time, Balanced Landing, and Adrenaline. I sometimes throw in Prove Thyself, DS, Quick and Quiet, and Head On.

Spirit - I’m currently running Thanataphobia, Sloppy, BBQ and Chili, and Whispers. I also have to run an activation charge speed add on in all of my games.

  • If this happens, prepare for even longer survivor queue times.

  • Same thing is happening to me when’s I select that specific challenge. Not sure what the issue is.

  • Hag is a balanced killer imo, because she is strong but smart survivors can play around her power. However, an issue she has is her ability to camp hooks so efficiently. That’s not a balance issue, that’s just annoyance.

  • I think other than bugs that need fix, she’s in a decent spot.

Right but at the end of the day they can still kill the person and the survivor can't do the same. So, killers are objectively stronger than survivors in the 1v1

That may be true, but it really should be factored down to how long it can take for a killer to end a chase. If killers are spending up to two minutes chasing a survivor at a super busted tile, gens will be flying by. I think killers need to end chases faster while still providing a fun back and forth battle. Perfect example of a killer like that is Blight. He’s not oppressive in any way but his power can end chases fast as long as you’re good with him.

I guess i see it through a killer lense but i've never really had a problem with playing against spirit. Yeah it can suck sometimes but i see the game as a 4v1 instead of a 1v1 four times. If the killer doesn't have the upper hand in the chase what do they have. And with how bad most of the cast of killers are and how stupidly strong some tiles and maps are the killer doesn't really have the upper hand in the 1v1. If they don't have that what do they have?

That’s fair. I think those ridiculous tiles that exist need to be looked at and weaker killers need to be buffed. But you do see what I mean about Spirit? I think all she needs to do is give feedback to the survivors about what she’s doing but should still be able to control the chase as long as the player playing is good. Honestly, there’s so many broken things in this game both sides have I have no idea how long it will take to balance all of it.

  • @Steah said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1894176#Comment_1894176

It's a kind of hard to have sympathy to the other side when the game is a 4v1 and the 4 are complaining there are killers that they can't beat in the 1v1.

Even more so when the devs cater to the survivor side a lot more that the killer side

Oh I agree with that. The killer should be the power role and they should have control of the chase. Spirit is my main, I love her to death and I love that she ignores loops and can actually manage games consistently. The problem is that the counters she has is just blindly guessing which negates the survivors’ skill. Spirit needs to have the ability to end chases quickly, but survivors also need to feel that they aren’t completely helpless.

  • Deathslinger’s walking animation also looks a little weird imo.

  • No it’s not because you don’t have Monstrous Shrine.

  • Dude they literally said they’re giving him a rework soon be patient.

Whats the counterplay to safe pallets? Survivors are literally untouchable here no matter how good you are at killer. What about killer shack? Its completely survivor sided as if they make no mistake it's impossible to down them because they have a god pallet.

There’s the whataboutism. I am aware that there are a lot of busted things survivors can use. Did I ever say there wasn’t? You need to learn to have empathy towards the other side and to understand that survivors have to go through BS and killers have to go through BS.

  • Not every survivor is like that. I think that survivor is the more whiney side in general but most of the complaints about boring killers are pretty valid.

Killers like Spirit, Deathslinger, and Pyramid Head completely negate the skill of the survivor, which is honestly not fair. I’m not saying these killers have no counterplay but the counterplay they do have is very stale and boring because it has nothing to do with the survivor’s input. Now, all these killers do require the player playing them to be good but relying on just the killer player to be bad isn’t good design. I even main Spirit and I know this is true.

Billy, Blight, and Huntress (assuming she doesn’t have Iri Head) are all strong killers but aren’t oppressive because there are ways to play around their power as long as you have the skill and you are aware what counters they have. Because of that, these killers are great examples of killers that are still strong but still offer fun gameplay from both sides.

  • I literally just came across a Freddy with an Ebony Mori. I was Feng Min and I escaped through the hatch.

  • A great starting killer would be Wraith. His power is super simple and is honestly very fun to use. He can teach you a lot about the basics of killer without putting you in any bad habits that will hurt you in the long run.

Wraith was the first killer I’ve learned and he’s honestly been tremendous help for me when I was new. I still play him regularly because like I said, he’s very fun.

  • Survivor queue times: 1 century

    Killer queue times: 1 second

  • Nurse for sure. She's not even a fun killer to learn because of how frustrating she is. I'm just better off with other killers.

  • Before I opened the post, I thought this was gonna be a nerf and was about to go off because BT is not an issue at all. I must say, I think this is a good change to BT because killers like Freddy, Wraith, and Pig can easily avoid its effects.

  • One thing I’ve noticed is that mostly everyone that acts that way runs DS + Unbreakable and other meta stuff. It’s because they’re ego is so huge that they need to bully killers to make them feel better about themselves.
