This! On both accounts. Pre-patch I was often forced to tunnel, because the games were often stacked against me, and when I got hit by DS I was pretty miffed and had to try hard to find the survivor again.

Post-patch I hardly ever need to do so, but when it happens I hardly even notice. I think the deactivation during the EGC is pretty much a good enough nerf, so they could revert it back to 5s. And with the way tunneling and campaign seems to be running rampant right now, maybe device a system if you get downed within 30s of getting unhooked, you regain your DS charge. This would at least give survivors a fighting chance against hardcore tunneling, without hurting accidental or opportunistic killers.

I only tunnel at 2 gens if all survivors are still in game so when ds hit it sucked because I was at the point that if I don't remove someone my chances to win are slim to non. Now it seems pointless especially against a nurse or blight that will be right on top of you in 4 seconds(counting the stun)

  • I've practically teleported to the other side when swinging at the unhooker many times lol.

I'd be fine with the ds stun reversion if enduring affected all stuns

The bug thing about enduring effecting DS was that it happend on the first down and you could not try and hit the skill check and save it. I think the 5 seconds would be fine or make some kind of effect that effects mobile killer because they are the real issue with ds.

People are still trying to argue 5 seconds is a lot. I don't think people that say that even play the game.

5 second isn't even close to enough the problem is the made it basekit so you don't need to run the perk but if you want to get value out of it then you need to run the perk. I'm also in the opinion to revert the stun nerf on DS because ive seen it used and 3 second just doesn't feel like enough time to get away.

90% is really blowing it way out of proportion. It was a popular perk because, whether you admit it or not, it was the only perk that gave some slight utility in chase. 90% of other survivor perks are trash. DH was fun to use. Making a perk way less fun to use in a video game is not ideal, especially when no substitute was provided to help make up the difference.

Do you think a very small dash was OP against a Blight, Nurse, or Huntress (with 5 hatchets) was actually too strong? I don't think so. The mains of these killers never lose, we don't need to conveniently forget that.

Calling it a "get out of jail free" card is just a cheap way of saying you think survivors are not supposed to have anything useful or fun to use.

Killers have always been viable. Too overpowered now.

    dbd perk usage.jpg

90% is over exaggerating it but was just under 75% usage and the next perk after that was 50% that's a huge increase.

The basekit bt should be 8s, and bt nerfed to 7s, numberwise its exactly the same, but gives the basekit bt more leeway for an escape

I can agree that the basekit BT is a joke and as a killer main I was like really 5 seconds. I thought it would definitely get buffed after the ptb. I've only seen basekit BT active once and that was because I some how swung through the unhooker and hit the person behind them getting unhooked.

Well if survivors would complain as much as killers they could get some changes too to help if they're tunneled or camped.

Yes because overcharge, Freddy, deathslinger, ruin rework never happened right.

The meta is weaker now without question but most of these newer survivor perks won’t be used. I can see a case for overcome, COH and parental guidance but nothing else really

I used Lucky break all the time before the patch and found it super effective. People sleep on overzealous because gens are like 12% longer and overzealous removes 8% if not a hex. This one is probably just me but I've gotten so much value out of exponential because most killers assume it's CoH and they will ignore it if going for the slug straight into a chase. You also have to consider that any survivor perk can be brought into a match by 4 people where the killer is only 1.

Off topic can we finally cap regression perks so they can be balanced properly because you have to balance them as if all 4 perk slot could have regression perks.

  • @Phasmamain said:

I’ve been thinking about this especially since the new patch and it feels like the devs are afraid of making strong survivor perk options.

If we look at killer over the past year we have got Pain resonance, Pentimento, Lethal pursuer, Call of brine and Deadlock as new great options. Out of the three scourge hooks so far only one launched weak being gift of pain but it has now been buffed into a solid position

Now if we look at survivor over the past year we have gotten COH which was completely busted on release and is now a solid option and that’s about it really. Overcome is decent but worse than other exhaustion options and Shadowstep isn’t strong enough to run on its own. Hell they even nerfed parental guidance before release despite it not being incredibly strong in the first place. Perks like overzealous and inner focus are being buffed literally a month and a half after their launch because they released which such trivial numbers. For example how strong would overzealous actually be if the 16% boost happened regardless of a hex totem or not? Encourage side objectives with bonus gen speed that goes away when the killers pressure gens well sounds pretty balanced in my opinion. Boons overall are weak especially in the case of dark theory like when was the last time you saw someone run a boon perk without COH as well?

Looking at the new patch the same problem shows itself. Calm spirit apparently needing a 30% reduction in speed to compensate for its mediocre effect, Pharmacy needing the prerequisite of being injured, Botany having a medkit efficiency debuff and Dark sense having its endgame activation removed. It just feels like the devs want to make a new meta but absolutely refused to make new strong options for survivor players to use meaning we’ll just use the old meta regardless. To me it just feels like the devs are afraid of similar outcry to COH or dead hard when they release a strong perk for survivors. It’s not all negative though with perks like distortion and ITR record but it still feels like they are p,saying it very safe at the moment which feels weird for a meta shake up

They released plenty of strong perks the problem was when you compared them to the metz perks they weren't on that level of broken or useful in ever situation.

That would be like killers saying that we haven't gotten any strong killers but using nurse as the comparison point. Like if they aren't as strong as her or better they are weak. Which isn't the case because blight and spirit are considered to be strong.

Do you stream? I would have loved to see your 80% escape rate in solo

I don't but I just played smart kindred as all most always in my build and I also didn't get camped and tunned every game maybe once in every 10 games someone would get camped or hard tunneled. I said somewhere between like 70-80% I definitely escaped way more often they I died. Even spent 5 match where I didn't touch a gen but chased the killer around with a flashlight trying to get good at saves 3 of those ended in a 4 man out.

I've seen those suggestions before. I don't personally like the idea of having different mechanics at play for solo and swf. But I think your suggestion would be better than nothing at all. I do feel that this suggestion would be a better way to balance than giving some players in game mechanics and not other players.

You have to buff them like that or you'll just increase the distance between solo and swf unfortunately. Imo you'll never be able to bring solo to the exact strength of swf but I think they can get pretty close.

as a survivor main I do think that the update was a bit much for solo q, but I can’t stand toxic people on my team (I try to help the killer if someone is overly toxic) I just think that there needs to be a change for toxicity to go down without making survivor bad

As someone who plays exclusively solo I will say solo is definitely alot tougher not as impossible as some make it out to be but I would say I went from a 70-80% escape to 50-60%. I've also played against some baby killers that can't have more then 100hrs in game and I have 1500+ and I've had the reverse when playing killer where I shouldn't be playing these guys they had no chance.

I felt so bad one game I just stopped and let everyone go the one time I checked before the match started.

  • @konchok said:

If a player is playing by themselves (Solo Q) Let them see who the killer is when they queue up for a match.

There are some problems that this could introduce, so lets clear those up right away.

    1. Pre-game chat is disabled, to stop you from sharing this information with the other individuals who are queuing up
    2. If you dodge a lobby you lose the ability to see who the killer is for the rest of the day

But, I hear you ask, won't this unfairly punish specific killers?

Yes, it is true that this is intended to give solo survivors more of an edge in their games. But the killer will be in a match with solo survivors, the killer is already at a huge advantage. This will just help solo survivors to prepare a bit better before the match starts. They may be able to grab a flash light if they verse a hag or decide against using no mither against an Oni.

I would rather the just throw in kindred basekit to anyone that isn't in a 3 stack or more as a quick bandaid to help solo after this patch and then work on them icons and maybe leave kindred as base.

Rarely ever did it before update.

Before: Pop and BBQ and 2 random perks. So after each hook I had reason to go far from hook.

Now: Eruption, Call of Brine, Brutal and 1 random perk. I have no reason to go far from smaller area of patrol, so I can keep applying Eruption and respond quickly to CofB notification. So I hook survivors in the middle of my smaller patrol area now, therefore they become proxy camped. Also, since there is no IW now, I can much easier hear unhooked and automatically go for the loudest one. Also, Brutal allows me to clear pallets in the area quickly, thus giving me even less incentive to leave.

My kill rates are through the roof, but it doesn't feel good. At the same time I hate wasting time and just looking around for survivors. I need a build suggestion where I have reason to patrol larger area and constantly be informed, so I don't idle much outside of chases. Both, Eruption and CofB have huge information value thus keeping me in chases all the time, so I'm looking for something similar in information value. Not gonna go back to BBQ, as I'm just tired of it and only had it for BP.

    Please advise.

After you hook as survivor you turn around and then you hold w/forward and look for another survivor.

Your officially a pro noncamper congrats!!!!!

    I agree with you.

It does offer different ways to play.

But unfortunately, when the killer chooses camping and tunnels, all good intentions are destroyed.

When the killer is "clearly" vulnerable, I will always offer advice on improvement.

I also provide advice all the time when survivors are "obviously" vulnerable.

Now, it is the moment when the killer camping and tunnel, the killer is not punished, and the survivors are powerless to resist.

The way generators are repaired needs to be changed.

And the killer can't have the advantage of camping and tunnel.

What if deadlock didn't proc if the killer was in a certain distance of the hook with no survivors around. I bring up DL because it's probably the best camping tool.

  • Spawn logic says it's ok so it must be. But seriously that's not ok imagine if a bubba got two downs right there

  • The only way it wouldn't is if they were taking time to match survivor closely and then throwing the first killer into that lobby. It would be pretty pointless because you just end up with the same imbalanced matches except it would be all baby survivors going against a pro killer and vice versa.

    Same thing for me.

But onto the subject matter, this patch in general is pretty enjoyable for me. The forum animals crying "DBD is dead!!" happens after every single balance patch. I will say, however, I really really really wish that BHVR had chose to give some form of Kindred and maybe Bond as base kit as opposed to base-Borrowed Time.

As a Solo Q player Kindred+Bond never leave my bar (or at least when they do I immediately regret it). Prove Thyself is still free BP with a bonus, so.... I have maybe one perk slot to experiment with in my Survivor build. And that is likely going to Off The Record when the dust settles because, well, that perks ridiculous.

Would love to run some fun perks like Blast Mine or Flashbang, etc but just not much room.

I have to agree I actually love everything BHVR did this patch so far but I do wish they would of gave solo q some love. It would of been nice to see those icons for your teammates in this patch but maybe next patch if they keep up like this we could see a new BHVR

Exactly, I also think solo survivor will be better unless the only reason the survivor is at their MMR was because of Dead Hard.

I play exclusively solo survivor and yes you do get crappy teammates but it's not as impossible as alot of people make it out to be. It's defined way less stressful then playing killer.

They both have their maps their benefit their strengths. Traversal is a wash at best. Basekit, blight has advtange. With add ons..Speedy blight has just as good or better traversal then nurse. Nurse has better downing potential in some situations if you're looking to down and slug, yes. But I'd still argue nurse actually has more counter then against a blight player like me. Especially if you just look at a 1v1 chase perspective.

Even if I'm way off base with my assessment of blight being better. He's a verrrrrry close 2nd. That's something that I don't think anyone thought they would see again.

Question. Your at an LT as blight, the survivor is going for the second window you can't get them with a rush before they get the vault. What's your play to get the down?

  • The syringe use to be an instant heal instead of the 16 seconds you have to wait now. Also on toolboxes BnP also use to be instant. They did nerf them but that was because they were completely broken.

P.s. for anyone else reading this BN got nerfed because it make an already really strong thing even more strong. They indirectly buffed medkits with the BN buff and didn't want that to happen so it got a downside. Just bring CoH with BN and get increased healing and let your whole team get fee healing as well.

Killer's easy. Had Otz put all the time in Fortnite that he has in DBD, he would never get placements or earnings. In contrast, a top Fortnite player like Bugha would 4k every match after one or two months of learning the game and role. There's no example of a killer main switching over to CS:GO and playing it at its highest level. DBD is not that hard and the players that try to take advantage of every broken perk or playstyle are probably those that cannot succeed at other competitive games.

Are you talking about the same otz that does no hit run in fromsoft game and no hit runs with crazy restrictions but yeah he's only good at killer because it's easy. Aslo didn't QxC or whatever try dbd and quite because the game was way unbalanced against the kill and count hit a Huntress hatchet to save his life???

  • @amazing_grace said:

Or play 2 twins games out of like 20 games as killer and have the survivors bring boon exponential in both games. That was utter pain and completely caused me to lose momentum (also had CoH on the boon as well).

I get the sentiment though. I had a survivor teammate who kept rebooning the same boon instead of pressuring the gens. I literally said out loud, "Felix, we don't need your God Damn boon." Especially because the boon was near a gen and he kept rebooning the same one so the killer kept snuffing it.

It can also be used in the same way to force the killer away from gens. I had a game a few days ago where we blew threw gens but stuck ourselves in a terrible 3 gen. I found a totem that was close but not so close that it was no time for the killer to snuff it and get back to the gen. The killer got to the point where if he didn't snuff the boon we were healing so quick and back on the gen that he was losing regression and if he did move to snuff it we were chunking gens .

We got a 4 man out. It was on the spirits level with one gen in the house and a gen on either side it took them about 15 seconds to patrol all 3 gens.

If it is a strong pallet with windows nearby to combine loops, sure. But you should not go and break every pallet. Plenty of them you can play, even after dropped.

Safe loops can not be played around once the pallet has been dropped and on most maps safe loop vastly out number unsafe loops. Yes you really shouldn't be breaking unsafe pallets or pallets that survivors drop and take off but if your at a safe loop and the pallet gets dropped your only chance of catching that survivor is bl 2 or 3 and you have probably lost the game at that point.

No,I didn't even mention Blight,I was just saying Nurse is too overpowered and there's little you can do about it.

At least Blight has some sort of counterplay and if your team plays good, you actually stand a chance.

I mentioned blight because you said nurse needs to be nerfed because she is the strongest killer. If nurse was nerfed to not be the strongest then blight would take that title so by the logic of the strongest killer should be nerfed that would mean that blight would have to be nerfed because he is now the strongest killer. Just because she's strongest then everyone else doesn't make her op especially when the majority of killers she is compared with are under powered. If anything more killers should be brought closer to her level not bringing her down to the same level as bad killers. You want to try and bridge the gap between her and other killers by going in the wrong direction.

  • @SekiSeki said:

Yeah, it's not because of dead hard. I am so glad dead hard is gone but that is not the reason for the lack of mindgaming. I still mindgame myself, but a good majority of the time, I am at the tile alone because the survivor just went to the next one. It is a little sad but I get it. A large factor of fun in the game are the mindgames.

To look at the differently, account for leaving the tile as another possible option, try to mindgame so they leave the tile. I'll always throw in mindgames, just because that is what makes the game fun.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3060697#Comment_3060697

Some windows on some maps, I completely agree. New Haddonfield and Garden of Joy kind of highlight it.

I see people saying there is no reward to it, mindgaming, these aren't the same people complaining that gens are too slow right? If you kick every pallet, you are going to lose.

The thing is that it's generally more time effective to brute foce the pallet instead of going around the corner with a moonwalk to find out that the survivor left the loop to the next tile losing more time and not getting rid of any resources. With that pallet still up they can bounce between those two loops untell you force one of the pallets.

So you think if she has her range addons removed she wont be the strongest killer in the game?

So by your logic if they nerfed nurse to not be the strongest then they will have to nerf blight afterwards because he is now the strongest. I hate to break it to you but there will always be a strongest killer and the sweaty players that play nurse will just move to the new strongest kill which will be then called to nerf because they are the strongest and the best players that want to win will play them and then you nerf blight and now PH is the strongest rinse and repeat.

It takes multiple hits to get someone off since there are so many hooks near each other. If you think that's just bm, you probably should play survivor and let 1 person take a hit and see if you wiggle off. It's never gonna happen.

I understand the team showing up if said person is on death hook but realistically the whole team shouldn't be there when said person goes down.

Now what about in the situation where there's 1-2 gens left killers at 0 hooks and the whole team is there to block the killers first and probably only hook. There is no real advantage to bodyblocking the killer at that point its actually more effectively to let them get that hook and finish the gens.

BTW slugging the whole team and letting them bleed out is pretty toxic in this killer mains opinion.

  • @DBDVulture said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3051910#Comment_3051910

It's much worse than that. Pop right now with 4 kicks gives you 80 seconds. Most of those kicks post patch will be 4-8 seconds. Pop and Scourge allow you to instantly take of 40% of a generator. That means in some cases you have to start completely over.

The reality is that they should have made the first generator +20 seconds. Any generator being done at the same time does not "upscale" after the first one finishes so you basically wasted time. And then the last gen should take +20 seconds.

This whole +10 seconds nonsense is a huge netloss overall if you run strong gen defense perks right now.

I really don't like the new pop change the gen has to be at like 99% to get close to the same value. Gen defence has pretty much been dismantled sure the OC and CoB is strong but you can always just go back and hit the skill check and stop the regression. Also I don't think they should stack to 500% or 1.25 the speed survivors do gens is a bit much. I do like the potential that surge has to be good now at all times.

Survivors got some good changes but most of them were in the wrong place and buffed swf and do almost nothing for solo(otr been the change that helps them the most).

I don't think these changes with mix up the gameplay loop at all so the game will play the exact same 95% of the time imo.

  • I think alot of people are over estimating how much time 10 seconds a gen is. I keep see people say it adds about a minute but that only is true if survivors are doing 1 gen at a time. In normal gameplay at the start you have 3 survivors on 3 different gens that pop back to back so really that's 3 gens done in 10 more seconds then normal then you got the last 2 gens are around 10 extra second total.

The killer buffs really aren't that big of a change you can run sbfl and enduring which are bigger increases then the basekit buffs and notice that untell you get around 6 stacks before it really starts to make a difference and with enduring 9/10 the survivor still makes it to a new loop and enduring really didn't help because your now back at square 1 with a fresh loop.

The biggest problem with the killer buffs imo is they are only going to be noticeable on rare occasions. Think about how many times the survivor just made it to the window or pallet, now how many times out of that did you break a pallet or kick a gen? Like 1% most of the times you almost got the hit was because they left a gen and you went straight in to chase or found the out in the open it wasn't because if only it would of taken .2 less of a second to break that pallet I would of gotten the hit

  • People do realize the only reason that ds had a 5 second stun was because enduring effected the stun. It was originally 3 seconds and was effected by enduring so the devs buffed ds to 5 second. They then made it so enduring didn't effect ds but then left ds the same.

  • I would like a well thought out survivor and if they happen to be straight gay,etc that's great as long as there story doesn't revolve around them been x orientation. To be clear I'm straight and don't really care what the orientation of the survivor is as long as the back story is solid. Imo people push out a lgbt+ character just to check off that box and the character completely revolves around the identity of been that. David was done ok in my opinion because his whole character doesn't revolve around him been gay.

also I didn’t want to attack or bully you in the first place, just wanted to point out that it was strange to even bring up Elden Ring like that.

also I have wished you fun for playing other games, and that I meant genuinely.

don’t know how anyone would interpret that as bullying. Some people are way too sensitive.

Sure on the most basic terms I compared them. I've actually been playing ER for a good while now and then been trying to play dbd when I'm taking a break from it and not enjoying dbd because the game just feels bad especially since I'm on console and a good amount of killers don't play as smooth on console as M&K.

I thank you for your wishes.

I'm no fool I expected the see you tomorrow and a like posy I just didn't care that they were going to happen I felt like ranting and did so.

As I said, don't expect people to kiss you now.

You rant over the game, people will rant over your post. This is how life goes, the way you handle stuff to others, the way you will receive the "feedback". I just tried to explain you something you probably didn't think will happen that was to see "good bye" "see you in a week", perhaps you expected the opposite messages.

I am just not cool to see this happening and I don't want forum users to feel bad in any way, this is a game, where we all should be nice to each other. I tried to help you, but I will not be here anymore... though I hope I helped you in some way, if not.. sorry!

Oh I don't. And my bad I actually though I was responding to a different person that was just been a jerk. I expected the "see you tomorrow" responses it was more about just getting it off my chest and I have thick skin so I can take the nasty comments.

Again my bad for been a jerk your comments have been constructive and curious and appreciated. The aggression was not intended for you.

If the game/forum is making you this upset, I implore you to take a break.

You definitely need to put yourself first if it's causing you duress.

I genuinely try to care about the users I interact with and it makes me sad to see a lot of posts like this as of late.

If you ever need someone to SWF with or feed you tips, don't be afraid to reach out or post up in 'Looking for Players."

I appreciate at that. I know for a fact that not everyone is a jerk here we actually have a lot of known people that are really constructive and help as much as they can. I have less issues with players and more bhvr and the lack of effort. Lately it feels like they are well get to it when we get to it with alot of big issues and refusing to admit they made a mistake.

The feedback that gets you banned ain't the feedback and as we know, devs have to filter out the trashtalking from the constructive and ACTUAL feedback. This thread is not a "good" feedback, this thread is about how someone wants to leave a game, say how BS this game is, how lazy the devs are and how much Elder Ring is better, to me sounds like bashing and unsportmanship all the way.

Never bashed no one I said the devs are lazy and that's my opinion. Also I never compared dbd to elden ring I stated that one is better then the other but never listed reasons why to make it a comparison. This is absolutely not a constructive post and is purely a rant because I felt like speaking my mind. So if you don't like my take dint read it and don't respond problem solved.

I am glad you see what you did there, I'm sorry for you anyhow but you can take a slight break, a game you paid is your game that you can play at any time. You feel burned out, you feel stressed, take a slight break because you are always welcomed in this game, just make sure you enjoy.

    :)

See the thing is that last break I took lasted w years. It was back when OG DS was a thing and BnP was instant. I wouldn't say the game is as bad as it was then but the vibe is quick going back that direction.

There I a reason I want there competitor to come out and kill it because then they have to make a choice do we let them win and keep going how we are or do we step up and make them sweat and bring people back.

Any feedback is good feedback. I look at it from a different perspective. I seen 3 threads float through here about people not enjoying the game and leaving, of 2 of the threads they were getting bullied. The third made self harm statements, and kind of got support.

I'm not about to argue if it's an issue or not, because it's very clear the game is stressful on it's players and those players are acting out in different ways. This issue needs to be fixed sooner than later, and bullying/dismissing these posts/threads only adds to the problem.

I wouldn't say any because I've seen it put in terrible ways. I'm pretty sure I know what post you are talking about and it didn't have any responses when I seen it but if people are promoting that action then they are disgusting people and should be banned.

For sure your own post was not constructive at all, that being said... I agree that you should call the devs out, but not the way you did here.

You have the feedback forum for such, people are telling you to play another game because it's the most logical solution if you are not enjoying the game. People happen to be burned out of a game, it happens for most so you can expect the same about DbD. It's a game in constant evolution but in no way it will be liked by every single human in this world and also because of the asymmetrical aspect it will for sure inflict frustration to players and enjoynment to others, the way this is played.

So I just want to say here, you can be truly constructive by leaving your feedback here https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/suggestions , stop creating such threads and expect people to kiss you, that won't happen and if you are not enjoying the game, to play something you enjoy more!

I agree that this is purely a rant and pretty non constructive. I normally try to be constructive with what I post or at least give my pov and listen to others but lately between people just dismissing actually problems and the dev doubling down on there mistakes instead of admiting they made a mistake (because guess what there humans and humans make mistakes) I just don't have the will to play this game anymore which is sad because I once enjoyed it so much.
