  • Of course there are more toxic survivors than killers (even taking into account the 1:4 ratio) , killers are always outnumbered. If they say anything there are 4 people ganging up on them. If they overstep the talk there are 4 people to report them.

It gets tiresome to deal with 4 people always ganging up on you.

With the nerf to Circle of Healing turning it into a weaker Self-Care, this hopefully incentivizes Survivors to start running Shadowstep instead. It's way more fun to use anyway. I love running into a boon area and seeing the Shadowstep icon. In fact, Shadowstep has gotten me out of plenty of hairy situations such as losing a tunneling Nurse!

    #ShadowstepSquad

They could completely remove the healing speed bonus and it would still be picked because it gives everyone a free perk slot/item. That's why these "nerfs" are so meaningless, they completely fail to address the actual issue with the perk.

  • @Norhc said:

All killers are viable. You just need to adapt your strategy and/or get good.

    Lol.

  • Rancor is pretty funny when used with nemesis (the perk not the killer). It allows you to free insta-mori more more than one person. All you have to do is eat a free stun.

Do not try hard, you will end up in a good MMR to have fun. Do not force to get kills. Offer the escape to some survivor sometimes etc...

Honestly, i play both sides and really to day the survivor experience is horrible. Killers are extremely toxic to secure kills. They camp and tunnel every game at high MMR, it is horrible.

Toxic survivors exist but it's rare. SWF bringing broken items or a survivor "exploiting"semi infinite and trolling are here and there but i don't face them as often as i face a camper/tunneler (like 95% of the time)...

Toxic survivors exist but it's rare.

We definitely do not play the same game.

  • On another note it's hilarious that the people most opposed to bots are also the ones who defend that bming the killer is fine. lol

How did you misspell Sadako's name four different ways and yet not get it right one single time, especially when her name is in the title? 💀

    I was being facetious.

  • It takes only about 18 3-4K games for you to reach top MMR as killer, so that's very likely..

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I'm not doubting, but why does everyone claim to be at "mid-high levels"?

Because unless you're activelly de-mmr-ing you'll get to that range very quickly due to the way mmr is calculated. Add to that the killer shortages, and you're facing top mmr survivors pretty fast.

  • @Tsukah said:

The same can be said for survivor. Playing solo survivor just isn't fun.

You can leave the match anytime you want by letting the killer hook you and stop struggling. As killer, you don't have that luxury. Even if you go to a corner and AFK, survivors will hop around you and click at you until they're bored. Even if you open the gates, you have to personally see each and everyone out while they tbag you, or else wait 4 minutes because they'll wait until the very last second while spamming loud noise notifications.

There is no "legitimate" way for the killer to leave a bad match other than enduring that kind of crap. It's either being the party clown for as long as the survivors decide you need to be, or eat a DC penalty.

  • Survivors bm, tbag and mock every killer while abusing busted perks like DH and DS, and then complain about seeing nothing but Blights and Nurses.

It doesn't even occur to them that the sweaty Nurse might have been a Trapper main who just had one too many games where the 4 survivors tbagged at the exit gates and then typed gg ez at the end.

    It's actually quite funny.

a surv could break the hook or give flashlight save, smart of you, huh

Maybe to you, I have more than two braincells to rub together so I'm able to check if there's anybody around before I pick them up.

  • Of course it was a flop. Samako is a "stealth" killer, but has a lullaby as big as her terror radius. Her power is basically teleports for map mobility, but survivors can turn it off at will. She has a passive flicker to mindgame in chase but has to slow herself down to deal damage. She can use her teleport in chase to get ahead but most tvs are already in a loopable place and the teleport has a directional audio cue so survivors can simply move away. She can apply condemned status to potentially mori someone but survivors can easily reduce stacks that take the entire match to apply. She has a small size so she's harder to spot but her POV is closer to the ground so she sees less.

Literally all of Sadoka's "strenghts" have huge drawbacks that completely negate them. To say nothing about the fact that she is a m1 killer in the age of validated Dead Hard and a hit and run killer in the Circle of Healing meta.

Why even bother spending cash on a license if the licensed killer is going to be castrated into meme status from the get go? But that's always how it is with BHVR and killers. They are scared crapless to give a killer an iota of power but have no qualms about releasing a completely and obviously broken mechanic for survivors. Compare Hexes with Boons. Yoichi was at first so overpowered that they had to nerf him before release, and Sodako was so underpowered that they had to buff her prior to release. It shows how they always err on the survivor side.

And despite the huge buffs, Sodaka is SILL underpowered. lol

Yeah, its times like this I wish I could opt out of the PC platforms. It's kinda sad I even have to think that but sadly PC tends to just ruin the experience due to the mass amount of cheaters, this goes for any game even coop ones...

The worst part is how can people with game knowledge identify people cheating, even when they're subtle about it but a system cant?

I thought a system to track the obvious hackers would be simple, or even to track the players stacking the same perk or running more than 4.

Seems to me not enough time is spent on anti cheat, and it to the point you deal with it or stop playing or you'll wait ages with Crossplay off

You see, when this game was first prototyped, they used a single player game as the basis and then expanded it to run on lan. They probably thought they would change the engine by the time it went on beta but for whatever reason (probably cash related) they had to stick with the same prototype build even after release. It used to be that literally everything was stored in the player's machine (in a plain .txt file, no less) so "hacking" the game to give yourself anything you wanted was essentially just editing the files in notepad.

They revamped a lot of the most glaring issues by now, but to this day a whole lot of the info still comes from the player's own machine. So I hack my game so that it tells the server that I am moving at 150% speed, the server simply accepts it and runs with it. That's why hacking in this game is so easy, there is very little server-side validation going on.

They have been running the game on bubble gum and spit for years now and have accumulated a lot of tech debt due to their shoddy practices and spaghetti code, so fixing everything is going to take way more effort than BHVR is likely willing to put forth.

So I was facing a pig and the match goes ad usually ambush attacks, traps what have you then the exits are ready I 99% one and NOED pops so I think maybe I could search for it I don't have any hooks so it's worth it until a Dwight with an active trap opens the gate and leaves but I don't see this until I make it to the exit he's dead on the floor.

I sat there thinking either this guy is so new to the game that he doesn't know how Pig works and MMR as failed this poor Dwight or this guy's brain just had an off moment and he ran without thinking about the trap.

Have you ever seen this happen.

Once when I was demmring pig there was a Claudette with a beeping trap so I downed her, led her to a box and let her wiggle away. But instead of removing the trap she ran away. I kept chasing her so the timer wouldn't continue, but she just ran into the exit gates and died.

I guess I didn't communicate that I was deranking and trying not to kill anybody properly. The funny thing is she could have gotten the hatch but her teammate had to stay to tbag at the gate.

  • Of course there are going to be more killer complaints if the killer experience is so bad. What do survivors have to complain about? Their escape rate has been 95% instead of their well deserved 100%? lol

  • "Oh neat, a down! I'll just go place the guy on my scourge hook and get my earned gen regress- Oh of course, we'll there goes my scourge hook ahaha... Should have know better than to queue up for killer in the first place I guess."

That's the only time I have to play and it's fine for me. Yes there's a lot of SWF, but not all of them are SWAT style SWF.

Meanwhile as a solo queue, I just looped a Clown for 4 minutes and died on my first hook while the remaining 2 (one DC'd like 1 minute into the match) just urban evaded...

Nothing in the killer side is as frustrating as the above for me.

If a killer chased you for 4 minutes then he was obviously a very bad killer. Anyone with any experience knows to disengage if a chase goes on for more than 30 seconds, let alone 4 minutes.

Why are you complaining about getting matched with a baby killer? Or why are you complaining about losing to such a baby killer in the first place like something unfair happened? You lost to a very bad killer. You unironically need to accept that and improve because good players shouln't be losing to literal baby killers that chase for 4 freaking minutes straight.

Seriously, if and when DH gets nerfed or gutted survivors will move to SB or Overcome and then there will be complaint threads about those.

I like to think Balanced Landing, Lithe and Smash Hit are fine but there's definitely a group of killers out there who just hate exhaustion perks period.

So...you want to face easier survivors because that's more 'fun' for you?

Thing is - is that fun for them?

Yes, easy games as a survivor is not fun at all. You can't possibly be scared of a killer who's essentially a non-threat.

That's probably why bming is so common among survivors, the role is so easy that the only way to extract fun from it is making the other guy miserable.

Sure but the point of loading a match on DbD and not some SAW trail is that you expect to get chased by the killer... If you find it fun go for it but as it does not actually go with the intention of how the game is meant to be played it is actually not fun. You are right there are counters but lets face it if you are solo que and the survivors have never seen this trash play or just don't care about others they will do their gen and move on. AFKing is code of conduct as it blocks normal play. At the end of the day the more the trash play is used the more likely the nerf hammer will hit the pig again. Keep playing like this and I can't wait the here the killer mains who do not play pig because she truly is a weak killer gets nerfed and they will WHINE because yet another killer gets nerfed. In the past weekend I had 5 trails with this type of pig. It was annoying when you ran into it 1 or 2 times in as many or more weeks but now people are doing it just for the meme. So I will say it again to the pig mains I am sorry that people who think its funny to possibly ruin the game play of others might ruin your killer once more. Play how you want but know that the fact that you had to add the addition that one may have to suicide for the other means that this could possibly mean that there is no true counter as you seem to think there is. Kill=Skill and all that lol.

There's is nothing wrong with it as far as the rules go. Unless the killer is bodyblocking survivors, forcing them to either stay on indefinitely or DC, no rules are being broken. As long as the game is moving forward, or is able to move forward, it's allowed.

As for the devs overreacting and nerfig Pig, that's on people who make mountains out of concaves about this instead of just chuckling and moving on who are to blame. In this sense, your thread is guilty of that more than the Pigbowlers. I'll say it again, the chances of getting pigbowled are incredibly low. Pig has already a low enough playrate as it is, and among them the pigbowlers are even less in number. It simply isn't a problem.

  • Pigbowl is fun because it, unlike what's usually claimed, does have counterplay. It requires the survivors to 99 5 gens, then immediately leave in order for the doomed guy to escape through the hatch. If more than one person needs the blocked box, someone needs to kill themselves in order to free the other guy. Nobody can make them do it, so it's entirely in the hands of the survivors who leaves and dies. Make your choice.

It's the closest to an actual SAW trial as you can get, which is why it's so soulful. People should enjoy it for what it is and stop whining about it, it's not like it's a good strategy for the Pig anyway since she's spending 9K in addons for at best a 2K in BPs if someone dies. Even less if everyone escapes. That alone severely limits how often somebody is likely to get Pigbowled, which makes it even more of a winging for winging's sake. It's NEVER gonna be a problem for anyone in any significant capacity.

You want increased FOV but then say it's a waste of a perk slot. That's like saying you want to instadown but then saying NOED, Starstruck, etc, are a waste of a perk slot.

It's a waste of a perk slot because it shouldn't be tied to a perk in the first place. It's like having to use a perk to be able to play fullscreen. A FOV should be an option in the settings, not used as a cheap false difficult BS.

  • @R1ch4rd_N1x0n said:

    Shadowborn.

Waste a perk and get blinded by flashlights, awesome solution.

  • They want to use DH not because it's the safest perk to use, but because they like to use it to dab on killers. "Oh you thought you got me because I made a mistake? Sorry, let me press E, better luck next time"

In order to use SP you need to play safe and respect the killer, and respecting the killer is something survivors have an almost alergic reaction to (which is why the hate Nurse so much, but that's neither here nor there)

They don't want to be safe, they want to make the killer miss his hit and then laugh at him. They want to make the killer look like an idiot for their YouTube compilations.

SP is the better perk for safety, but DH is the perfect perk for bullying. No wonder it's used by 46% of survivors.

  • Nurse needs a couple of buffs severely. Making plaid flannel basekit would help ease in new players to it and increase her playrate and accessibility. Her post blink fatigue is also way too long, and I wouldn't object to giving her another blink either.

  • Let s*rvivors and tbag/clicky clicky the bots all they want. I for one welcome our new AI overlords.

  • @LavishGorilla97 said:

A few thoughts beyond the perspective of in-game balance. I think it is pretty interesting to understand a game from business view.

    1. Any maintenance/updates/balance decision of the game is business-oriented, which means the ultimate goal is to increase the players amount, thus potentially leads to more revenue. Undoubtedly, making the game better is the most straightforward way to achieve this. But this covers too much stuff, which is not the focus of this thread.
    2. From the business perspective, competitive DBD brings the least $ to the company. At a boarder view, a game's business potential can be evaluated via the number of active players in public matches. So 1): players who are interested in comp likely to play in custom games which makes 0 contribution to the public player base as the online multiplayer game. 2): so-called "comp training" in custom games bypasses the process of grinding bps/unlocking perks, which again, is not what company expect players to do and brings 0 benefits to games' potential.
    3. Unlike other competitive games, despite the comp playstyle showcase the essence of the efficient/optimal gameplay, it is not favored by community and it is perceived as "sweaty". Their play rule also disable the choices of lots of killers/addons/perks/items/maps (those are all game assets, company pay people to design those). If you publish a game and you see 90% of your designed content is never been used. Would you consider keep promoting that? (although this issue is already shown in public matches, but it's worse in comp)
    4. Ideally, business should consider all of their customers. But in reality, it is nearly impossible. Business decisions are commonly made with emphasis on majority where it helps the company to sustain and grow.
    5. All thoughts are welcome, please keep this as the discussion type of the thread, not against any comp players.

The fact that over half of the perks have to be blacklisted in order to make the game even slightly fair shows just how much off the deep end this mess of a game is. Devs don't care for balance in the least and deeply resent anything that highlights just how bad it is.

  • It''s ok, BHVR is working on it! It should be ready by the next Ice Age, so stay tuned.

  • Why would they dodge when SWF offers absolutely no advantage whatsoever and it's 100% fair and balanced!? :^)

  • The only solution to the SWF problem is to clearly show who is queueing together in the lobbies.

  • @JeanCharpentier said:

BHVR, if you wait for the AI bot to be rampant on DbD before starting to take measures to counter it, it will be too late.

    1. Find another anti-cheat system, co-work with some companies that are actually good at it or require EAC to greatly improve their service
    2. Using a kernel 0 anticheat is now a necessity, not only for DbD but for all multiplayer games.
    3. Start to change your ban policy to HWID ban the cheaters. Banning the account when DbD only cost 2 to 5 euros is not productive, cheaters will buy new accounts everytime they get banned.

    Kernel anticheat : https://levvvel.com/what-is-kernel-level-anti-cheat-software/

    • Better efficiency
    • LoL and Valorant have it and there are literraly no cheater, or almost

    HWID Bans : https://blogili.com/how-does-valorant-anticheat-do-hwid-bans-and-are-they-legal/

    • The computer's components are banned
    • Cheaters have to change the whole PC/Inet system to play again (sure there are some way to bypass it as everything is not perfect but most ppl won't try)

Cheating worsen in DbD since the game has become a great success. When it was a niche game, there was no problem. It is time now to act and to do something about it.

BHVR, you have told us that DbD was an immense success with 50 millions unique accounts sold + many cosmetics/DLC sold aswell. How much money is it ? It is time to use this money wisely, for the players.

I'm pretty sure they already do hardware bans. It just doesn't really work because spoofers subscriptions are like 2 bucks a month and if you already gotten your hands on cheating software in the first place then procuring a hardware spoofer is banal.

These bot farms are not doing this to ruin anyones fun, they openly sell these accounts for sometimes thousands of dollars.

Same with wow gold, and everything else online that is bot-farmed

There are no farmed accounts in DbD, really. Because of the way the game is coded it's ridiculously easy to simply edit your profile to have everything unlocked. No need to go the roundabout way that's only drawing in heat if you can just hack everything and then sell the hacked account which will be less likely to be dectected.

I don't know what their endgoal with this is, but it ain't to farm BP.

And you saying killing me is their only objective but there are 3 other people in the game besides me I've been in games where they ignore the random players and they just want me sometimes they let them go

If you've been targed by a tunneler/camper, you've met a tunneler/camper. If you and only you are being tunneled/camped over and over again, then chances are that there's something about you that's triggering it. There are plenty of reason why a killer tunnels. One of them is because a specific survivor is really bad, and they see the opportunity to easily take out the weakest link. Another might be that they are not even trying to tunnel, but the survivor is bad at hiding/evading while everyone else is good, so it's just a situatition that the target simply keeps making themselves available. Even someone who isn't trying to tunnel has no reason so just ignore someone who has been spotted just because he has already hooked them twice in a row.

Or it could be you BM. If you click flashlight, tbag, or generally plays in an obnoxious way it can cause the killer to lash out against you in retaliation. You say the tunnelers often play laid back after you're eliminate and even let the others go. That is a very strong indication you might be playing in a generally onoxious manner.

Personally, I regularly de-mmr whan playing Susie (Legion), and when I do that I just try to 8 hook everybody then let people go so as to drop my mmr while extracting the best score/bp count. But every so often even though I am actually trying to derank and not kill someone, there's some little piece of horsedung that BMs and then I have to discipline them. If another survivor tries to get in the way and does something verbotten to hinder me killing the offender (saboing hooks, flashlight saving, body blocking, etc) then I have to discipline them too and I end up raising my mmr after all. Which sucks. So in your case it might be that the killer was trying to farm all along but you've triggered him somehow by being obnoxious.

Lastly, it could be that the killer was expecting your team to be a SWF for some reason and went in with safeties off, but upon killing you he realized your team was actually bad and felt sorry for them, and proceeded to play nice from them onwards.

Hard to say with certainty without more information.

  • You are not entitled a escape every game you know. Killing you is literally their only objective.

Please don't be self centered and think this is about you cause it ain't.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

First i am not against killer buffs.

Maps should balance better for killers.

Dead Hard and CoH needs to go.

    Weak killers should buff.

But seriously i don't wanna Nurse level killers. But i am seeing some people wants this. But DbD is not playing by only one side. If all killers would be this level, how people will enjoy as survivor?

For me game needs to be fair for both sides. For me, maps are making it imposible. Most maps are balancing around casual/new players and i think this is biggest mistake.

Because if killers are too behind Nurse, you'll see nothing but Nurses. Nobody wants to play a killer that's going to get them nothing but disresctpect and tbags at the gate. Do you want to see nothing but nurses? We don't either.

There you go, there's your answer.

  • Depends. If you're a liability I'll just start playing for hatch and the sooner you die the sooner I can get the hatch. Also as soon as the gates are powered I'm hauling myself off, glng.

  • What a coincidence, those are the same words I'd use to describe your post!

  • If you need any proof of how out-of-touch BHVR is in regards to killer's complaints just look at the map releases. Killers have been complaining about excessive map sizes for ages, and yet BHVR's newest map is like one of the largest, not to mention the one with the most verticality which screws up 90% of the killer roster.

They added survivor sided hit validation to DH, effectively buffing it, even though DH was already the most used exhaustion perk by a fair mile.

The freaking Ring chapter fell completely flat on its face because they deliberately released an m1 killer with no anti-loop smack in the middle of the CoH meta which makes hit and run completely not viable.

I read through the official news topic here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/315687

All it does is talk about how some people favor fast queue times while other people favor fair matchmaking,The way they describe how matchmaking tries to find people close to your MMR and then expand over time to find people further away from your MMR is normal for any kind of matchmaking system, and it sounds based on that post that they'll just experiment with these numbers.

But it doesn't adress the issue that the way people's MMR is decided to begin with is the core of the issue. Based on interviews I've read, MMR for killers seems to be purely based on whether or not you get kills or let survivors escape, and for survivors it seems to be based on whether or not you escape or die.

Do the devs understand that there's more to the game than living or dying? If you're able to play like a god (on either side) and make the match miserable for whoever you're facing, and then be able to lower your MMR anyways by choosing to die at the end or let the survivors escape... Then you can keep facing newbies forever.

And that's the problem... Not everybody plays to win, personally I enjoy dying to the killer at the end, and after reading the interviews about how MMR is calculated it made so much sense why I keep matching with newbies despite having over 1500 hours.

To fix the MMR system, they need to look at more than just whether or not survivors live or die.

the MMR system needs to look at more variables than that. For example, how long a chase lasts before the survivor goes down, percentage of missed skill checks, percentage of missed swings, how fast a killer is able to locate survivors, how much time a survivor spends idling without progressing the objective. These are just examples, the most important thing is probably how long chases go on for before a down, since that's the most skillful interaction on both the survivor's and killer's side.

I apologize if this is very long, it's just concerning that nothing about the MMR calculation itself is mentioned when they talk about changes, and that they only mention how these numbers are planned to be used while finding matches.

Those changes are just going to make it harder for killers to de-mmr. You wouldn't be able to farm and 8 hook then let everyone go anymore, you'll pretty much be forced to the "Insidious Lightborn AFK in the basement" strat which survivors hate so much since it leads to them depipping.
