I've been there. Hell, last night I was in a game where I was getting my ass clapped so hard, I reached for the DC 3 times but thought better of it.
You gotta deal with these bad games from time to time. I told myself "Screw it, 2/3 of this playerbase I can walk all over because about half of them quit, just play this one out and you'll get your turn next game."
I was right.....

Red rank doesn’t mean much
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2113339#Comment_2113339
- Its a 4v1 game the odds of the 1 defeating all 4 players consistently should be very low or the game is unbalanced in the first place. Almost nobody runs DS anymore anyway. If this game allowed killers to consistently 4K just for playing well the player base would be dead. Same goes for survivors, there are plenty of games I play perfect and totally outclass the killer but I die on first hook after some salty little boy decides to stand in front of the hook all game. I play mostly solo survivor, what’s the counter to that? You are NOT entitled to a win for outplaying the other side, no side in this game is.
- If someone has DS at exit gate remaining 9/10 times it’s some killer who couldn’t get a single kill and is now tunnelling the ######### out of the guy who got unhooked at end game for 1 kill. News flash, the DS isn’t why you lost the game.
- Whats the counter to insta mory myers? What was the counter to mory off first hook? What’s the counter to Freddie’s lunge hitting you when his claws are 2 ft away from your body? Nothing, no game can have a perfect counter for everything.
You can't Mori off first hook anymore it requires 2 hooks now. They were nerfed again ages again which is why Keys are getting axed next.
Just wanted to make you aware.
Rest of your point is fair. Way I see it, you should be removing people form the game before the gates are powered anyway. And you have options to go after the unhooker. The power of DS is an edge case in a game where 2/3rds of the playerbase plays like potatoes that most of us can walk all over without any issue... so I don't know why people are bringing up these edge cases.

So, i've been doin a lot more survivor lately (Mainly to play with my fiancé) and just had this in a game. Guy won, pretty decent demo, but then instead of GG immediately goes with this. Firstly, did SOME chases (Mainly just looped around a car etc till down, chase was maybe a minute or so... Guy tunneled the poor rank 5 off hook almost every single time.
So I keep seeing posts "Looping is so boring" "Looping takes no skills" etc etc. So what is it OTHER killers really want? You want chases but the only way to really chase is looping. You dont want "Hiding" (The only time there was any hiding was after 2 people were dead, me and the feng hid in the basement real quick to avoid him and heal to full.) Just curious. I have no problem with people hiding when i'm killer. People do it all the time. (I run whispers though so...yeah lol)
There really is no winning with this community it feels. (If people aint calling me a "Furry" Because I have a Poochyena picture as my profile picture on the forums it's something obscure) just take the GG and move on =w=
If that killer is complaining about looping, it's a case of the "Get goods" for them and they can be safely ignore.
Play hard, and expect your opponant to play hard back, gg where appropriate.
That is the only rule that should exit

@stikyard said:
When I play killer, I would say I know three to five minutes into the match whether or not the survivors are good and if I need to play hard.
If the gens are popping and they are able to run me through loops and pallets, I know I need to play hard, it's going to be a close game and, I shouldn't hold back.
If I'm scoring easy downs, the survivors are giving me free hits and, generally not making good decisions, I know that I'm out playing them and, I ease off.
Being able to weigh the pressure and knowing when to play hard or play around makes a good game for everyone.
I really don't understand why killers who are obviously wrecking a team, multiple hooks and maybe one gen gets done but, they continue to sweat on them? Then they complain about tea bagging survivors as if the noob team you just slaughtered were any good?
Exit to post game and you are purple / red ranked Killer who just went all sweaty on teen ranked survivors...
GG
I play hard most of the time because if I'm destroying a team, they obviously don't need to be ranking up and going against somebody who's better than me.
Way I see it, we complain about the matchmaker a lot - and yet we do things that make it not reflect the skill level of players by "going easy" on people. Seems a bit hypocritical to me as far as I'm concerned.
It's not that incapable of occasional kindness - if somebody playing well but the other three guys are complete potatos, then I may go easy on the guy who deserves to rank up as it isn't that guy's fault his teammates were idiots.
We really shouldn't be letting people rank up who don't deserve it

Pipe dream that won't happen. Deal with it.

Never stated anything about the game being balanced around the best players. What's laughable is how you evidently read nothing I said and have such poor comprehension that you resorted to making up things I said.
The cringe attitude of "i get to make up things about what other people say and superimpose it onto them" is what baffles me but I'm not surprised by people who do that who act like clowns.

I'm pretty sure it is, they are holding the game hostage. If you play mega immersed and never do your objective, the game can't end.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2111360#Comment_2111360
It should be bannable; and therefore it is. I faced immersed squads before, even with whispers it is almost impossible to find someone. And as they never do gens, I am stuck in the game looking for the needle in the haystack.
It saddens me how many of you shrink at anything slightly resembling a challenge.
I've spent almost an hour finding some groups. I always come out on top. Never mad - I enjoy the fact they give me all the time in the world to find them.
To be completely fair, Bloodpoints are secondary to me. I just enjoy watching all these dumbass players get punished and die. And if they want to give me more time to do it, that's just fine with me.
-

Its to punish all the killers who camp and tunnel from the start of the match. Take your eyes off of us for one second and you'll cry tears of blood trying to find us again.
Too bad that if it gets too bad, many of us have the power of the Nvidia control console and can turn the gamma up.
Haven't had to do that myself in years though - but it's a thing. :D
-
get better af finding them I say. It's on you to find them, and on them to do the gens. If they don't want to do their objective, you have all the time in the world to catch them.
I personally don't think it should be bannable, but it's not my call
-
because it's possible to fail your way to rank one given that some killers play by the dumbass rules that some people put forth, ranking up survivors who don't deserve it
So to keep the matchmaker from being radioactive garbage, they reset so it never gets past being hot garbage
-
matchmaker is hot garbage, never expect it to work right.
Just do the best you can with what you have.

FFS, I'm a ######### killer main and this attitude baffles me.

You're wasting your time....

then you have no business playing PvP man. Do yourself a favor, find something where you don't have to worry about it.
Because bitching about people going wide open and gen rushing is just going to end in disappointment.

Camping is an exploit.
It wasn't intended by the devs. They just happened to allow since it'll cause all the ruckus by the community.
Just like T-bagging is an exploit and moon-walking is.
Bubba was meant to be a one-shotable killer like Hillbilly, but people started to exploit that and devised a dumb strategy to camp.
Like I said, just because the devs allowed it to be "viable" it doesn't mean it's an intended result. Get that straight.
It is not an exploit as the devs have never, to my knowledge, called it an exploit.
Insidious has been in the game since day 1, the gen timers have been set up in such a way that if you leave somebody to rot on the hook because of a camper, the killer will lose most of his gens.
The reason camping is an issue is because player refuse to make the right play and do the gens.
People have this misguided sense that "everybody must survive". While it's true this is a team game, sometimes you have to cut your losses and do something that goes against your sense of duty for the betterment of the team. And sacrificing one so that more can get out due to a camper is absolutely the right call - so start making it instead of feeding these guys.

I thought Doctor was heavily inspired off of Joseph Mengele really, I never heard Yang Yongxin, I'll check him later.
A lot of us pointed to Yang not just because of his use of Shock Therapy, but also due to WHY he used it, who his survivor was (Ming), and his nationality.
Yang used his controversial treatment to "cure internet addiction". Ming is a professional in esport and is of Chinese decent. So many of us felt he might be loosely based off him as a result.

Trapper's needs a change... and it's not hard. Imagine this....
Trapper steps just past the moaning survivor and puts a trap just ahead of them... then they lean over and grab the survivor by the back of the collar, picks them up, then tries to drop their head on the trap. The survivor catches themselves with their hands and looks at the trap in terror. Trapper looks at this for a moment, then brutally stomps on the back of their neck, forcing the survivors face into the bear trap. Scream of pain from the survivor, a brief twitch, then play the death tone...
Bam... suddenly Traper's Mori just got a helluva lot more terrifying.

She hasn't been standing out for me. Only stereotype I've been getting lately are the blendettes with their Romulan Cloaking devices.

I'm learning Pyramid Head right now and kind of struggling (his huge blind spot on the right side is really screwing me over). Being a bit short on perks that seem to be of worth on him, I had green NOED slotted just to have something in the slot.
Was a challenging game on Osmond due to my ineptitude and the fact that at least 3 of the survivors were competent. It got down to the wire in the end. No... literally. It was like this...
I got my 3rd sacrifice, the Claudette. And in that moment, the last gen popped. Doors were somewhat close, but I didn't like patrolling between them when there was a hatch in play. Then I get this idea.... let's open a gate. That will start the EGC and maybe fool the remaining survivor into thinking I found the hatch and force her to the gates. And when she sees the open gate, she may go for it.
So I gambled - I knew there was a good chance she'd get away, but having NOED in play made me willing to take the gamble. I opened the gate and started a WIDE patrol around the gate to entice her to try and go for it.
I spotted her behind a rock a good 2 and a half tiles away from the gate. I started the pursuit. She made her way toward one of the raised sheds. It looked like I had her....
It dawned on me just as we hit the steps she might be trying for a Balanced Landing play, so I was ready for it.....
She broke left off the stairs and platform, I took aim and prompty got a weapon collide animation off of hitting the edge of the steps. She sprinted toward the gate with me in hot pursuit hoping my NOED speed boost would be enough.
I caught up to her just as she crossed the finish line. Gave her a hearty GG because I'll admit, she got me in the end and it was a brilliant play. I didn't get salt back, I got "OMG, that was so close, and you had NOED, my heart is pounding right now GG MAN!"
That felt good - that felt damn good running into somebody who appreciated the close shave they just had, and how close they really were to being put on that hook. GG guys
NOED isn't in that slot anymore though. I prefer perks I can use for most of the match.

Kills because people disconnect because they just dislike Freddy, kills because he is just too easy to play, how effective they are against actual good survivor groups, their hooks or how they do in chase- it's all just about the kills pretty much.

Somebody like Doctor or Trickster aren't realistic. Rapists and pedophiles are.
Doctor isn't realistic... You've never heard of the monkey head experiments I take it? Or the man the Doc is likely based on, Yang Yongxin? Science has had several darker turns and Doc represents that dark side quite well.
-
Tsulan's right, the new red Iri is underwhelming I think. I can see where it might be useful in cases where you got somebody wounded and you don't want to stop and reload - but that doesn't warrant an Iri Rating. Green addin tops I'm thinking.
A more reasonable Iri for her I think would be giving her hatchets a Full charge immediately (no need to charge them) but can't use ammo belt addins.
-
The shortened endurance timer was a reasonable compromise, although I would of made it a couple seconds shorter myself. I'm willing to try it. Most of the time with BT procs on me, it's because the idiot on the hook tanks an unnecessary hit to get a speed boost or something. I dunno, I don't see why you'd trade less time on a gen and more time mending when you don't have to.
-
My own comments and predictions as follows
Iri Head - Reasonable nerf that should of been done years ago.
Borrowed Time - The shortened Endurance timer in exchange for the proximity setting is reasonable. The few killers who could get around it were edge cases anyway. My only concern is it's EGC power will frustrate some players - my first thought is that I know I'm going to personally be more motivated to remove somebody from the game in situations where I might of let them go so I don't get stuck dealing with it in EGC just to prevent this situation when I otherwise would of just played around my terror radius to counter it. But again, an edge case. So likely not going to affect most of us.
Farm map reworks look a bit bright for my taste - I liked how gloomy they used to look. But, it may look different on my rig so I'm willing to give it a chance.
-
RANK - Somewhere in the green ranks right now, but have reached rank 1 before with this killer
Favorite Killer: Doctor
Add ons: (normal matches) : Usually Calm, and the red-stain addin
Add ons: (for lols): replace the redstain addin with the fake pallets.
Add ons (for maximum memes): Interview tape, polished electrode
Why do I play doc?: Because of all the killers he seems to be the one having the most fun. Just listen to those maddened cackles.... if that isn't a guy having a good time, I don't know what is. On a more personal note - mental illness and madness does run a bit in my family - so I feel a connection to his theme as well.
Favorite Cosmetic - Prestige 3 skin. He's actually the only killer I've ever bothered to prestige
-
it's a time delay mechanic. In a game where every moment a survivor is not doing gens, I find it quite useful.
Broken doesn't prevent gens from being done like Deep Wounds can, you can still do gens while broken. This is why it's a separate mechanic.

So all three survivors are there to save you and know what progress your gen is on etc?
Relying on your team mates when you're solo to do anything important is a gamble at best so no, my point is not irrelevant.
They're still you're teammates and it's up to them to pick up the slack. And sometimes they let you down. It sucks, but what you're saying has a viable workaround ergo your point is still irrelevant. Survivor is still a team experience wither you like it or not.

Or it's because tapping a gen after it gets hit with pop is a stupid reason to disable the perk because stopping gen regressing next to a hook you've been on does not mean you aren't being tunneled.
There are literally 3 other survivors who can tap that gen in your place including your rescuer. Your point is irrelevant.
Although I question tapping a gen on a risky save when a pop is in play to begin with. Just seems like a an easy way for the killer to get a free hook state AND 20 seconds regression for such a dumb play anyway.

I'm liking the idea of running around break walls and pallets for points though, that seems like a good way to spend EGC time if I'm not in a hurry to chase somebody out.
I'm pretty chill about spanking people out the door though. I'll sometimes just toss ranged attacks for practice when it's the last couple people. Or if I'm Myers, moonwalk across the entrance for lols.

I'm going to weigh in as a low end content creator here.
I'll start with the second point must be a troll thing. To explain this, I'll use twitch as an example, where in only about 1% of twitch streamers make over 100 bucks a month, and even less making anything close to a living wage.
And now the first point, in order for most streamers to be able to blur out names, you would essentially have to block out a quarter of your screen most of the play time, and not even show lobbies. It takes a significant amount of work that a lot of content creators wouldn't be able to do.
THAT BEING SAID
It wouldn't hurt if the Dead by Daylight Devs added a feature in game that renamed people. Many multiplayer games have this feature already, for example Sea of Thieves, and it helps protect others gaming experiences. I would love to see such a feature in DBD.
I'm sorry, I'm going to have to disagree with you there.
It takes literally 5 minutes to set up a layer in Streamlabs - OBS that will block the names out, and it's easy to set up a masking layer to hide your screen when in lobby if you are so inclined. Toggling these layers is low effort and is not significant work... and that's if you're lazy like me and don't bother setting up "Scenes" . No need for a stream deck - just freely available software.
Hell, if you play multiple games, you can use the same generic hiding layer to hide lobbies.
And I'm probably the laziest small-time streamer around... if I find it to be low effort, then it's pretty low effort.

We kept juggling the survivor to avoid the stun. At least that is what I used to do.
We called it "Dribbling" back then and most killers would do it. You used to be able to dribble a survivor indefinately, but the devs decided to give the survivors free struggle when you drop them which was probably for the best. That still allowed you to dribble them 2 or 3 times, but you couldn't grief with it by doing it indefinitely anymore.
but yes, it worked. Pick up the survivor, move for 1 or 2 seconds, drop them. Rinse and Repeat. It stopped DS cold. Sometimes it DS would still fire but the drop would go through anyway and we wouldn't get stunned. We'd see the icon for it and know their DS was dead and carry them the rest of the way. Eventually all that was patched out as well.

I agree.
And I will not stop bringing up morality. If you find morality offensive, I suggest you ignore this discussion so that it doesn't offend your sensitivities, or lack thereof. Bullying is not acceptable in any forum or endeavor. Morality helps defines us as civilized beings.
Morality is a rhetorical tool you are trying to use to evoke an emotional response to get people to your side because you know you have no real logical leg to stand on. And no, I will not stop telling you that it's ridiculous to use that term because it's the improper use of it. Especially given you tried to attach a EULA rule to try and prop your flimsy argument up. Same with the term Bullying. As a person who has actually dealt with real life bullying growing up, both physical and emotional, you have no idea what the term means. Playing a game in a manner you disagree with is not bullying. Being thrown into lockers and being called worthless for your religious beliefs and the fact you are physically weaker is. That is the real ethical and moral questions you should be raising, not how somebody plays in a ######### video game where one side is supposed to brutally murder the other. You have no moral high ground here to stand on.
Game does not know morality, it knows only it's own rules that we play by. If you don't like those rules, you're free to either try and stop us by getting good enough, or just leaving. Either is acceptable.
I don't see why any killer should be expected to leave a hook when it's their objective to remove people from the game. I mean, I don't see survivors refusing to do gens or throwing themselves on killer hooks here.
-
I'd just report the profile and move on. they may be trying to bait you into playing in a manner that will get you banned.

To me, the biggest issue with BHVRs stance and something I REALLY wish they'd consider is there's no incentive for a survivor being camped to do that.
As a solo queuer, I have lost far far far too many games because the person getting camped just dies 20 seconds in and I can't even really blame them for it. They presumably) are solo players so what incentive do they have to kill four minutes of their life to help out strangers in a video game?
Even if it's just a bunch of BP for being a distraction, the camped really should be given something good for willingly sacrificing their time to save their three fellow survivors.
They're actually working on that right now - second stage of the hook is about to be changed in such a way that you can't instantly suicide. Even if you ignore the skill checks it just means you die faster but not instantly
I think they need to go further and reward more points for those who actually stick it out and struggle - because you're right.. apparently 2 minutes is too long for most people to sit through being hooked... which I don't get. But evidently most survivors which are supposed to be at least mostly team-oriented are more self-centered than I like.
