  • They should be crawling away and forcing the killer to commit to one or the other.

  • Hag, hands down. She's the reason I had Urban Evasion perma-slotted for the longest time. She severely limits mobility and makes unhooks 3x more stressful than any other killer.

  • And I can't understand why anybody would handicap themselves putting up with random strangers creating noise pollution making hard to tune into the environment

I saw how voice chat worked in Friday the 13th - it was awful. Ended up muting everybody.

I already see how toxic this community is on botht he forums in in post chat, I don't need to hear you squeakers talk about how much I supposedly suck for killing your pixels.

Use a damn keyboard like everybody else you lazy twirps.

  • So the game doesn't go your way so you leave like a crybaby

    Cool story.

  • Because a lot of the perceived issues go away when people "Get gud" and make the proper plays instead of doing stupid things that lead to said complaints

Especially when we got a huge block of players who refuse to "Get Gud", they just disconnect when things don't go their way.

  • Eh, if survivors can gen rush because the killer can't build pressure, then the Killer can kill rush if the survivors can't discourage it enough.

    Seems fair to me

  • Cool, that means an easy and fast win for the other 3 survivors.

  • It became the norm as the red rank emblem system for killer's encourages it. And given how much harder a killer has to work at the red ranks to begin with, it can be hard to give up that pip or even double-pip.

Ease up on the pipping requirements in the red ranks, and less killer's will feel compelled to slug the second to last person.

  • I see a broken status on a survivor after an unhook, I have to assume either a deliverance or Second Wind. If it's just Deliverance, I'd likely ignore it as they ain't healing soon. But Second Wind denies me time - and that's something I have to counter. And if it's a Steve, it's likely Second Wind

It's just right tactical call - down them so they have to waste time getting healed. Have to deny that free heal from Second Wind.

  • I was one of the people who didn't mind facing the old freddie. Indeed, I found him fun.

But... I like the new one better. He's easier to use and has a viable defense. If they brought back the old one, they'd still have to tweak him because his lack of defense made him weak as hell.

So it's a big fat NO from me. He's a good killer now - leave him the F alone.

  • Survivor is only rough starting out and up to the yellow ranks

From green on you'll start to see how much easier it is.

  • Outfits? Absolutely not

Items? very very rarely and it will have to be like 3 or 4 toolboxes and I'm already having a bad day. 95% of the time I ignore items or bring Franklins.

    I do.

But there are times - for instance, the end of the trial when all gens are powered, that you can't slide in a locker.

Right now, it's completely imbalanced with the Billy, Spirit & Nurse. They are all over the place in 6-8 seconds. Which is like 1/3 of entering a locker animation slowly.

Very interesting that you completely overlook the fact the seconds you have to even get to said locker or be ready for the incoming rush.

What, do you not hear your teammate getting downed? Are you deaf? Do you not see the icon when they are downed? Then of course there's the time from that point to getting to the hook. Then the aura itself is only 4 seconds long which doesn't take into account wind up time of said power.

It's like you want to take these few edge cases and beat them into the ground because you just don't like the power.

  • I remember I had an argument with this one short-sighted player about how much worse it was for the game when a survivor DC's vs a killer. I tried pointing out how if a killer quits, at least all the players involved get to get into a fresh game right away - where as a survivor quitting leaves 4 people in a compromised game.

With the rash of entitled snowflakes who quit when the game violates their safe-space, I wonder if that person has the same opinion now?

  • Most experience playing: Doctor

Secondaries I enjoy dusting off and playing from time to time - especially for rituals: Myers, Pig, Spirit, Plague

Killer I'm thinking of making a new main: Plague

Killer I like to goof off with: Wraith (if you die to my wraith, that's just pathetic man)

Killers I use when I'm feeling really mean and sadistic: Doctor, Pig, Hag

Killer you'd have to put a gun to my head to play - Legion

I'm just feeling particularly feisty and snarky today. Don't mind me.

I'm at an awe that the same people begging for Survivor nerfs and shouting that DbD isn't a "1v1" are same ones telling Survivors to play it like a 1v1.

Actually, I take that back. I'm not in awe. This forum is swarming with very skewed bias towards Killers.

It blows my mind cuz Killers get to play an ENTIRE trial regardless if they get "GeN-RuShEd" or trolled.

Somehow, the fun should only happen for Killers?

    <font 72> WHAT? </font 72>

LIke that is any difference than survivors that whine that a killer is kill-rushing. Oh, I'm sorry, I think the politically correct term survivors mains want us to use is "Tunneling".

But that has nothing to do with the fact that BBQ is a fair and balanced perk.

  • So basically you are a weakling that can't be bothered to deal with a 10 to 15 minutes game.

Basically, you're the kind of teammate I hate who has no problems screwing over other players.

    Classy.....

  • I've actually seen the 99 tactic work against people too. In fact, I believe it got Tru3 killed very recently.

I find the tactic pointless personally as the timer slows down when people are hooked and 2 minutes by itself is plenty of time to leave.

If you are somebody who wants to use Blood Warden, you might want to take advantage of the part where the killer can open the gates themselves now.

  • It really bugs me that things that have a viable counter get complained about.

Don't want to risk a DS? Slug the person and leave them on the ground

Don't want to show up on BBQ? Either sit in the aura, mislead where you are going, sit in a locker, or get behind an unfinished gen.

People's refusal to perform easy viable counters really baffles me.

  • No.

In fact, I suggest you take a page out of Lefty's handbook and handle exit gates as follows...

Look down, approach, and slap them out of the trial.

You don't get to see the T-bagging, and they can see you aren't looking at them and giving them the satisfaction.

    Problem sorted.

  • I used Distortion on Jeff mostly because I didn't have better. I think it had potential, but it's limitations really holds it down.

Sorry most of those are painfully obvious. Nurse's Calling is easily noticed when the Killer bee lines to you suddenly. Pig always knows when and where your removing a trap? Kind of obvious. You're using on of your perk spots for "potential" and limited knowledge/use.

How many people in this thread actively run Distortion? How many run BBQ? I wonder which would win a popularity poll?!?!

Um... who cares who runs and it and who doesn't? Popularity doesn't mean something is OP. My point is that it's counterable, before you even consider perks. Your the one choosing to die on this hill as to wither or not Distortion is good or not.

But popular <> OP. By that logic, we should also be nerfing Dead Hard, Ruin, ect.

Bbq is fine as is. I'd argue for a distortion buff. At least a buff to the number of tokens. Hell I'd be fine with there being no tokens and it lasting the entire match.

I've wondered why they went with tokens instead of a long cooldown on the perk.

Maybe you shouldn't of even brought up Distortion then? Saying Distortion counters all aura reading perks is simply silly. It's like saying No Mither is a good perk. It's just false. Even Deja Vu might be stronger than Distortion cause it has a small use.

Good or bad, it still counters the aura reading. And as Sairek pointed out, it's also information as to what the killer is running so you can react accordingly when the tokens are used up.

Distortion is a trash tier perk. Don't even try to pretend it's a counter as you literally state why it's awful in the same place you're trying to pretend it's good. It has 3 whole charges... and any aura read removes a charge. It's a horrible perk.

Where did I say Distortion was good?

Re-read my statement, tell me where I said it was good? Show me your work.

  • This perk has viable counterplay in that you only need to be within a certain radius to not show up at all or just hide in a locker. That's literally all you need to do.

And that is BEFORE you get Jeff's perk, Distortion, involved which counters not just BBQ, but every other aura-reading perk the killer has.

  • It's still not a standoff, there's a clear winner. This is still better than it used to be.

  • @ColonGlock said:

I really appreciate the attempt, but I fear we are caught in a cycle of despair by design.

This game is meant to pick at our ego and the cycle of revenge is endless.

I believe there is a lot of truth in this. Especially when both sides are given tools to enact their revenge in a manner that many would consider downright unfair.

  • My own personal challenge as a survivor is to force myself to always run one perk from that survivor's set. That way not every single perk slot is taken up by a meta perk. And it's a rule I stick to 100%. If I'm playing a survivor, you'll always see me run one perk from that survivor's set.

    Examples of this include

Ace: I usually run Open-Handed and toss in Bond with it.

Jeff: I run Aftercare and Distortion.

Jane: I'm running Poised on her as it gels with my stealth style of play.

    Adam: Autodictat

Quinton: Pharmacy (Because the poor boy never got self-care. LOL)

Oh I'm sorry, am I not allow to text an issues and/or opinion? I guess I just suppose to keep thoughts to myself even though others may have experienced the same stuff. This is a general discussion somehow interestingly enough to caught your eye.

Oh, I'm so sorry, am I not allowed to remark on what I see here?

If you can't handle a difference of opinion, you might want to reconsider expressing yours in a public forum.

  • Not to mention - if keys really bother you that much - you have options for dealing with it. Not the least of which is arming certain perks.

  • Not bothered, but bothered enough to start a thread about it - interestingly enough.

  • A co-worker played it in it's opening months and streamed it. At his urging I picked it up

We don't talk about those days anymore, and I think we agreed to disagree on the balance because his survivor bias is extreme.

  • I wouldn't doubt it. I know I roll my eyes when I see the same arguments again and again over 3 and a half years.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

    isn't this reportable?

I know it is when it's across multiple platforms such as harassing in twitch in addition to game.

But as for moring over and over - that's a bit of a grey area. I can point you to TheEntityLeftHand who keeps a list of players who are mori on sight and he will tunnel the crap out of them. Only thing devs have ever asked him to change in regards to his stream was to keep the BlackList private to prevent witch hunts. Other than that, he's been left more or less alone and he's gotten a couple of minor trapper cosmetics that are nods to his existance.

  • I know it's hard for some people to believe, but killer's are people too. If they feel they've been wronged in some way, they will react accordingly - even if you aren't exactly self-aware enough to realize you did something to incur their wrath.

Personally, I find it too much trouble to bother with it myself. If I held a grudge against every little twirp who played in a manner who annoyed me, my book of grudges would span a dozen volumes. That's just too much effort man....

  • I tend to have a really hard time vs the hag.

    But I destroy most Ghostface's I face.

  • I'd like to just take away her collision with survivors. Just do that by itself and see how it plays out.

  • I'm of the opinion that this game was built on the basis that your fortune can be reversed at a moment's notice. I mean, think of the sheer number of things that outright surprise and dramatically shift the momentum of the game at a moment's notice.

This game has always had that foundation of things that just shift the tide. It seems kinda wierd to me that after 3 years people want to remove that. To take away a little of the fear and uncertainly the game can bring (Does he have NOED? Is that totem Haunted Grounds? Does that survivor have DS? Is that a key?) and just remove it in favor for something more bland and predicable.

I realize I'm probably in the minority in expressing these feelings and that's fine. But I still can lament seeing something that I used to love so much about this game systematically stripped away over and over again.

  • ... this again.

Let me start of by stating I play both sides. I'll also state that I used to be a lot like some of the people in this forum - playing by imaginary rules and getting upset when people refuse to play by them.

But then - I changed. I entered a period of self-reflection. The following three things changed my outlook.

    • You cannot control what others do, you can only change how you react to them"
    • The game knows no rules of “honor” or of “cheapness.” The game only knows winning and losing.
    • Certain mechanics exist in games for the sole purpose of giving a newbie a fighting chance against a veteran. Sometimes it's something obvious, like the noob tube. Vets know better, can counter it, and often know a more effective strat that doesn't require the use of said mechanic.

These three principles is how I shape my outlook in the game.

I cannot control what tactics people use, I can only adapt how I react to them. In the case of camping, I can just not feed the camper and refuse to throw salt over it. This teaches both the newbie and the troll that the tactic will not work with me. With tunneling, I can just become a more effective at evasion or become a better teammate at helping another break a chase.

Game does not understand HOW you earn your victory, it's just numbers. For people like myself who only care about the end result and not the means - your cries of "unfairness" and "lack of fun" are meaningless because winning is the only result we care about. I don't care if you don't like to be looped. If you are triggered by T-Bags, I will continue to exploit that weakness. I generally prefer not to camp as spreading the pain builds pressure, but I'm not so stupid as to not punish hook-diving or not fall for what seems to be obvious bait. If this bothers you, that's none of my concern and shouldn't be. My only concern is my own game, not yours. Your fun in your game is your responsibility and yours alone. And those who do it to torture you are going to feed off your cries of dishonor anyway.

To a newbie who doesn't grasp the fundamentals on how to generate map pressure by keeping injured people running around, camping and tunneling can seem like the most effective way to win. And if you play into that style of play with risky saves and a refusal to DO THE FLIPPING GENS, you are not discouraging the behavior. If you refuse to risk your skin for your saves, or run perks that make discouraging this behavior easier, the problem is with YOUR refusal to either get good or run the necessary perks, not with your adversary.

Remember, this game doesn't have a casual mode - every game is ranked. Therefore, people are going to care about it even if you personally don't. Your feelings don't enter into it. The sooner you realize that and make peace with it, the better off you'll be.

Take it from me, I didn't enjoy gaming as much as I do now because I used to be just like a lot of you - wallowing in misery because people didn't play the way I wanted. When I let it go and just concentrated on my own game - every game that I played from that day forward got considerably more enjoyable.

I suggest you all do the same.

  • Game is finally reaching some semblence of balance and people want to drag us back to the dark times. Can't say I'm surprised.

  • If you're using your Feral Frenzy for multiple hits, I see no reason to not use Thana to buy back some of the time your wasting chasing multiple targets around with each Feral Frenzy.

  • Can you blame them? I have to disengage from this community on a regular basis to maintain my sanity too.

This community is really unreasonable and I'm surprised they put up with us as much as they do.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

There's a legitimate concern that killers could abuse that (survivor gets unhooked, killer slugs them, hooks someone else, and now boom, the slugged survivor's DS is deactivated).

The best would be: if there are 4 survivors left and 2 are hooked, DS deactivates; if there are 3 survivors left and 1 is hooked, DS deactivates; if there are 2 or fewer survivors left, tunneling is not a thing and DS doesn't activate at all. However, that's probably too complicated; I mean, some survivors have trouble understanding that BT activates based on TR and not proximity.

This is a reasonable suggestion and I wish more people would consider it.

  • Not likely as not enough people player her seriously.

If she was as persistant as other strong killers, you'd see more outcry.

Frankly, I think she's highly underrated. I'm actually considering shelving Doc for a bit and maining her.

  • The two used to stack - and god was it crazy good back in the day.

Frankly, I think Unrelenting should be a perk they give all new killer characters from level 1 for free. We've had the devs claim time and time again that the perk is meant for newbies, but the web never guarantees newbies will see it.

So give it to level 1 killers - just like we should give Kindred out for free to level 1 survivors..

  • I hate that ruin is a gamble, I prefer not using it to be honest. So I usually don't. Except on the Clown - that poor joker needs all the help he can get.

  • I've always been for empowering the solo survivor with the understanding that doing so would free the devs to empower the killers more to compensate.

Ideas in this area that make sense include....

    • why is the obsession the only one we get a chase indicator for? Why not all of them?
    • Totem counter on perks like Small Game is a reasonable concession I'm willing to make regarding totems and countering NOED.
    • Kindred should be given as a perk to all new survivor characters, along with unlocking ALL the perk slots for both sides. Camping is most prevalent in the lowest ranks and thus it's a good idea to put it in the hands of new characters immediately. More experienced survivors can counter it effectively even outside of SWF, thus making it basekit is unnecessary.
